Tour de France Femmes 2023: The Route

Tour de France Femmes 2023

Stage 1 is played out on an undulating loop to the north of Clermont-Ferrand. The finale features the Côte de Durtol, a climb of 1.7 kilometres at 7.2% with its summit 9 kilometres before the finish.

The 2nd stage is a hilly race, while the last climb – 3.4 kilometres at 5.8% – peaks out under the flamme rouge.

A series of hills mark the heart of the 3rd stage of the Tour de France Femmes. The route levels out considerably in the last 55 kilometres before the final 12 kilometres are as flat as a curling rink.

The longest race amounts to 177 kilometres. The first half of stage 4 is virtually flat and following an undulating phase it all comes down to the hilly last 35 kilometres. The finish line appears shortly after a 570 metres ramp at 10.1%.

Stage 5 looks promising for fast finishers with climber’s legs. After some 100 kilometres on hilly terrain the last quarter of the route is virtually flat.

The 6th stage should be for the pure sprinters. Although the route is not entirely flat, the climbs are short and not very steep. Moreover, the last hill is history with 40 kilometres remaining.

The Queen Stage takes place on the seventh day of action. Following a virtually flat run-up, the riders tackle the Col d’Aspin and Col du Tourmalet in the last 42 kilometres. The finish climb is 17 kilometres long and averages 7.3%.

An ITT of 22 kilometres rounds out the route. Stage 8 includes a small midway climb and the last 400 metres go up at 5.7%.

  • Jonas Vingegaard (Dänemark, Visma-Lease a Bike): Toursieger 2022 und 2023.

  • Egan Bernal (Koumbien, Ineos Greandiers)
  • Remco Evenepoel (Belgien, Soudal Quick-Step)
  • Felix Gall (Österreich, Decathlon-ag2r)
  • Carlos Rodriguez (Spanien, Ineos Grenadiers)
  • Simon Yates (Großbritannien, Jayco-AlUla)

Lotto thüringen ladies tour: martina fidanza repeats on stage 3 with sprint win.

Barbara Guarischi second, Maggie Coles-Lyster third in Erfurt

Martina Fidanza (Ceratizit-WNT) was fastest in a bunch sprint to win stage 3 at the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour. The Italian beat runner-up Barbara Guarischi (SD Worx-Protime) and third-placed Maggie Coles-Lyster (Roland) in Erfurt.

Opening stage winner and overall race leader Margot Vanpachtenbeke (VolkerWessels Women's Pro Cycling) maintained her GC lead heading into stage 4's 111km race in Mühlhausen on Friday.

Stage 3 of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour was 144.6km in Erfurt. The circuit offered two short intermediate mountains at 54km and 117km before an otherwise flat run-in to the finish line.

Christine Majerus (SD Worx-Protime) and Lizzie Deignan (Lidl-Trek) opened a small gap after the first 20km of racing, but the pair were caught by the field with 75km to go.

Lisa Kromm (Maxx-Solar Rose Women Racing) was the only rider to make a counter-attack that resulted in a solo breakaway as she pushed her lead out to nearly two minutes.

UAE Team ADQ and EF Education-Cannondale did the bulk of the pace-setting at the front of the peloton causing the gap to drop to under a minute. With a more manageable distance, Justyna Czapla (Canyon-SRAM Racing) bridged across to Kromm and the pair pushed their lead back out to a minute.

SD Worx-Protime took matters into their own hands, setting a quick pace to shut down the breakaway with 35km to go. Mieke Kröger (Team Germany) was the next to attack, but she was brought with 20km to go.

A crash in the peloton with 19km to go saw Lizzie Deignan (Lidl-Trek), Karoline Goldschmidt and Lena Reißner (both LKT Team) go down. Their respective teams have not yet released medical updates.

SD Worx-Protime, Ceratizit-WNT and Fenix-Deceuninck pulled the field into the final kilometres of the race, and it was Findanza who proved fastest to the line.

The churches inside the Moscow Kremlin are the Cathedral of the Dormition, Church of the Archangel, Church of the Annunciation, and the bell tower of Ivan Veliki (a church tower).

The five-domed Cathedral of the Dormition is considered the most famous. It was built from 1475–1479 by an Italian architect and has served as a wedding and coronation place for great princes, tsars, and emperors of Russia. Church services are given in the Kremlin’s numerous cathedrals on a regular basis.

The interior of the church surprises most people when they visit. In contrast to the large exterior, the inside is not so much one large area, but rather a collection of smaller areas, with many corridors and small rooms. There are 9 small chapels and one mausoleum grouped around a central tower.

Visiting the inside is like walking through a maze, there are even small signs all around the cathedral tracing where to walk, and pointing you in the right direction! The walls are meticulously decorated and painted with intricate floral designs and religious themes.

The Alexander Garden

Located in the upper garden, towards the main entrance to the park is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with its eternal flame. This monument was created in 1967 and contains the body of a soldier who fell during the Great Patriotic War!

The park stretches along all the length of the western Kremlin wall for about half a mile. Due to its central location in the city, it’ll be easily accessible when you’re out exploring The Red Square.

Whether you’re spending one day in Moscow, or more, safety is an important thing to keep in mind when traveling to a big city! Overall, Moscow is a very safe place to visit. However, it is always recommended that tourists take certain precautions when traveling to a new destination!

The police in Moscow is extremely effective at making the city a safe place to visit and do their best to patrol all of the top Moscow, Russia tourist attractions. However, tourists can still be a target for pickpockets and scammers.

Moscow has a huge flow of tourists, therefore there is a risk for pickpocketing. Simple precautions will help eliminate your chances of being robbed. Stay vigilant, keep your items close to you at all times, and don’t flash your valuables!

If you’re planning a solo Moscow itinerary, you should have no need to worry, as the city is also considered safe for solo travelers, even women. Stay in the populated areas, try and not travel alone late at night, and never accept rides from strangers or taxis without a meter and correct signage.

The threat of natural disasters in Moscow is low, with the exception of severe winters when the temperature can dip below freezing! Bring a good, warm jacket if you visit in Winter.

However, please note that Russian views on homsexuality are far less accepting than those in Western Europe. Likewise, Non-Caucasian travellers may sadly encounter racism in Russia .

Tour de France 2024: TV and streaming, schedule, stages, route, and what to watch for

Cycling’s premier event is about to get underway.

And it will look a little different than in year’s past.

The 2024 Tour de France, the 111th in history, begins on Saturday June 29. However, the starting point for this year’s Tour de France, as well as the finish line, will mark a series of firsts for the event.

To mark 100 years since Ottavio Bottecchia became the first Italian rider to win the Tour de France, this year’s race will begin in Italy, with riders setting off in Florence. The first three stages of this year’s Tour de France will keep riders in Italy, before the Tour’s fourth stage sees riders make the journey from Pinerolo in Italy, to Valloire in France.

In addition, this year’s Tour de France schedule coincides with the 2024 Paris Summer Games, which begin in Paris at the end of July. As such the Tour de France will conclude in Nice, with the final stage of the 2024 Tour de France bringing riders from Monaco to Nice.

This year’s Tour de France also concludes with an individual time trial, the first time the event has concluded with an ITT since 1989. That year saw the legendary duel on the final day between Greg LeMond and Laurent Fignon.

This year’s event has no shortage of storylines, starting with the battle between Dane Jonas Vingegaard, riding for Visma—Lease a Bike, and Slovenian Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates.

Vingegaard is the reigning Tour de France champion, winning in both 2022 and 2023 ahead of his rival Pogačar. But his status for this year’s Tour de France is a huge question mark, as Vingegaard endured a horrific crash at the Tour of Basque Country in April. The Danish cyclist suffered a broken collarbone, several broken ribs, a pulmonary contusion and a pneumothorax as a result of the crash, and spent 12 days in the hospital.

Vingegaard’s questionable form has opened the door for Pogačar to perhaps claim another title. The Slovenian took home the prestigious yellow jersey, the maillot jaune, in both 2020 and 2021; his victory in 2020 at the age of 21 made him the second-youngest winner in race history.

The two are the odds-on favorites to compete for the top spot on the podium again in 2024, but Vingegaard’s recent crash has made his rival the favorite.

Beyond the two favorites, there are some other riders in the field who could challenge for the yellow jersey. Primož Roglič from Slovenia, riding for Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe, is one of the older riders in the field but might have some unfinished business after losing out to fellow Slovenian Pogačar in 2020. Roglič failed to finish in both 2021 and 2022, but won the Critérium du Dauphiné at the start of the month, fending off a late challenge from Matteo Jorgenson from Visma—Lease a Bike.

Remco Evenepoel from Soudal Quick-Step is another rider to watch. The Belgian cyclist suffered a crash of his own at Basque Country, but seemed back in form during the Critérium du Dauphiné when he was part of the chasing pack that put Roglič under pressure in the final stage. Considered one of the sport’s premier time trialists, the schedule sets up well for him with the 2024 Tour de France containing a pair of time trials, including the one on the final day previously mentioned.

For American fans Jorgenson represents your best hope for Tour de France glory. However, his role this year might best be described as “undetermined,” given Vingegaard’s questionable form. Should Vingegaard be healthy Jorgenson may serve as an auxiliary leader for Visma, and one of the sport’s premier domestiques. But if Vingegaard struggles with his health as a result of his recent crash, the 24-year-old could be thrust into a major role. And given his recent performance — including finishing just eight seconds behind Roglič at Dauphiné — he is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

The 2024 Tour de France map

Here is the official map of the 2024 Tour de France:

You can also view the map on the official Tour de France website.

Stages, dates, and distances for the 2024 Tour de France

Here are the stages for the 2024 Tour de France. According to the official website there are eight stages classified as flat, four stages classified as hilly, seven mountain stages (including four summit finishes: Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d’Adet in Stage 14, Plateau de Beille in Stage 15, Isola 2000 in Stage 19, and Col de la Couillole in Stage 20). There are also two individual time trials, along with a pair of rest days.

Overall, the 2024 Tour e France route covers 3,498 kilometers (2,174 miles) and contains 52,230 meters (171,358 feet) of total vertical climb.

If riders were hoping to ease into the 2024 Tour de France, they have another thing coming. The opening stage of this year’s Tour not only marks the first time the race has started in Italy, but it might be the toughest opening stage in history, featuring 3,600 meters (11,811 feet) of climbing. The final climb into San Marino, featuring over seven kilometers (4.35 miles) of climb at nearly five degrees.

The two toughest stretches are likely Stages 14 and 15, as well as Stages 19 and 20. Not only are all four stages mountain stages — meaning riders will have to conquer the mountains on back-to-back days — but all four stages contain a summit finish: Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d’Adet in Stage 14, Plateau de Beille in Stage 15, Isola 2000 in Stage 19, and Col de la Couillole in Stage 20.

Stage 9 is a very intriguing stage. While it is classified as “hilly” Stage 9, which sees riders start and finish in Troyes, it also contains 14 “white road” sectors. White roads on the Tour de France are dusty, gravel roads that have been a feature of this event.

In addition, the 2024 Tour de France concludes with an Individual Time Trial, the second ITT of this year’s race and the first time the Tour de France will finish in such fashion since the legendary LeMond-Fignon duel in 1989.

2024 Tour de France results

Overall Leader: Romain Bardet, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL

Romain Bardet, aided in large part by his Team dsm-firmenich PostNL teammate Frank Van den Broek, captured the difficult first stage of the 2024 Tour de France on Saturday. For Bardet, who is competing in his final Tour de France after announcing his upcoming retirement following next year’s Critérium du Dauphiné before a switch to gravel. This stage win was his first in seven years, and he’s the first Frenchman to don the famous yellow jersey since Julian Alaphilippe in the 2021 race.

Breaking News

Music | thompson fire quickly consumes 2,100 acres in butte county, music | these iconic ’90s acts have stopped fighting and started touring together, swa and xscape kick off queens of r&b tour in concord.

From left are Xscape members Tamika Scott, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Kandi Burruss; Monami Productions CEO & “Love & Hip Hop” producer Mona Scott Young ; and SWV Members Coko Gamble, Leanne "LeLee" Lyons and Tamara "Taj" George.

Then they signed up to do a reality TV show — the 2023 Bravo miniseries “SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B.” And everything drastically changed between the two groups.

“We fell out real bad,” Xscape’s Kandi Burruss remembers during recent Zoom interviews held with both acts. “And we all know it’s a lot of drama and craziness that comes with reality TV. We were friends with SWV for years — since back in the ’90s. But the tension that happens when you are shooting a show — and you have to address every little thing — sometimes things can go left. And we allowed that to happen.”

Yet, things that can go left can also apparently go right, since the two groups were eventually able to mend fences with each other and draw up plans for a hotly anticipated co-headlining tour. The roadshow — appropriately dubbed the Queens of R&B Tour — is set to launch June 27 at Toyota Pavilion at Concord. Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets start at $41 (subject to change), livenation.com .

“We always love the Bay Area,” says SWV’s Tamara “Taj” George. “We are going to enjoy kicking off the tour there because we know that the fans will come out and really give us their perspective of what they loved about the show and how much they care about the songs and the history of both groups.”

And both acts certainly do have illustrious histories.

Formed in 1988 in New York City, SWV (which stands for Sisters With Voices) landed an album deal with RCA Records and used that platform to become one of the most successful R&B acts of the ’90s. The vocal trio — consisting of George, Cheryl “Coko” Gamble and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons — was a massive hit right from the very start, as the 1992 debut album “It’s About time” soared to triple-platinum heights on the back of the singles “Weak,” “Right Here” and “I’m So into You.”

Xscape experienced similarly great success after coming together, under the watchful eye of hitmaker Jermaine Dupri, in Atlanta in 1990. The vocal group, currently featuring Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Tamika Scott, released three platinum-selling albums — 1993’s “Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha,” 1995’s “Off the Hook” and 1998’s “Traces of My Lipstick” — which collectively birthed such hits as “Just Kickin’ It,” “Understanding,” “Who Can I Run To” and “My Little Secret.”

“We are so very excited to have so many dope vocalists on one stage together,” Burruss says of the co-headlining tour. “From the time the show starts until it gets to our performance, it’s going to be nostalgia. We are giving people the hits that they have been singing and knowing for so many years.”

SWV and Xscape are the headliners — and certainly the main attractions — but fans will also dig seeing opening acts 702, Total and Mýa on the Queens of R&B Tour lineup.

“You can’t forget the great songs that they contributed to the ’90s era,” George says of the support acts. “Mýa was a force with her dance moves and her crossover music. Total was just funky hip-hop. I loved Total — every song they did. And 702 is going to have a whole new meaning to it, because we just lost Irish (Grinstead) last year. So, having 702 out there performing there songs — with the legacy of Irish out there with us — is going to be special for the fans.”

These should indeed be very special evenings for the legions of fans who are still so passionate about this overall era of R&B music.

“I just feel like the ’90s was just a cool time for R&B. That was a decade where there were so many girl groups,” Burruss says. “Everybody was about really singing and having really strong harmonies. And R&B was really doing great on the charts. That whole era — that’s what we call real music, right?”

Well, Lyons, for one, is in certainly full agreement.

“I think back in the ’90s, everybody was real with music,” she says. “You really went in the studio and actually created something. And it wasn’t as microwaveable as it is now. We didn’t have the access that we do now to, like, Pro Tools and the different equipment they have. It’s so easy now — you can make an album in your house. But, back then, things were so different. Producers actually went inside and created something. And they catered that particular sound to whatever artist they wanted to give that music to.”

Another factor that gives ’90s R&B that sense of realness/authenticity is most certainly its connection to gospel music, with many of the performers having grown up singing in church.

“We stayed in the church as kids,” Burruss says. “When you start singing in the church it’s like you have a different type of soul when it comes to your music — an added flare.”

Both SWV and Xscape sound so thrilled as they talk about this upcoming roadshow that it’s strange to think that — not that long ago — the chances of the Queens of R&B Tour ever happening seemed remote at best.

The original plans for this co-headlining jaunt extend back to the last year’s “SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B,” a six-part reality TV mini-series aired on the Bravo channel that focused on the two groups as they prepared to hit the road together. (That series followed a popular Verzuz webcast that pitted the two bands against each other.)

Yet, things went sideways quickly during the TV show — amid ego-fueled bickering and trash talk — leaving viewers with the impression that a lengthy feud was more likely than any tangible tour dates.

Fortunately for the fans, the two sides were eventually able to put the bad blood behind them and get on with the show.

“I’m glad that we all came back together and really talked it out,” Burruss says. “They said the things that bothered them. We said the things that bothered us. We talked it through and got on the same page. And I’m so glad we did, because I hated that we had that negativity between us.”

That conversation between the two sides changed the whole equation, allowing SWV and Xscape to move past the drama and onto the music.

“I think everything just comes with a change of mind and a change of heart,” Lyons says. “A lot of stuff that we go through is very petty — and it only requires a conversation. That conversation was had with just the six of us and there was a resolve that came out of it. So, that made it easier for us to move forward and to just focus on the thing that the fans wanted — that’s for us to go on tour again. And that made us want to do it.

“We are in a great place right now. We are looking forward to this tour. We are looking forward to making history.”

Taylor pointed at Travis from the stage ... and he responded with a sweet little wave.

Dedicated Swifties are convinced Travis surprised Taylor at the "Eras" tour stop ... citing her body language. The couple linked up backstage at Aviva Stadium ... where Travis was filmed showering his GF with all sorts of praise.

Travis, who began dating Taylor in July 2023, has been a fixture at the singer's record-breaking tour. He attended all 3 nights of her London stop at Wembley Stadium ... even joining her onstage once for the "Tortured Poets Department" era of her setlist.

The football star was joined by his family at the "Eras" tour ... as his brother Jason Kelce and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce mingled with him and the royal family -- including Prince William , Prince George and Princess Charlotte .

Of course, Taylor has shown the same support for Travis' football career ... showing up for a number of his games last year. The couple even shared a sweet moment after Travis' Super Bowl win in February.

It's clear their love story isn't slowing down any time soon.
