Good morning

Good evening

“Uffizi Gallery in Florence is a world class museum with an incredible renaissance art collection. Enjoy a guided tour with a Local Specialist to make the experience more memorable, especially when in front of Botticelli’s stunning ‘Birth of Venus’ painting”

Pino, Travel Director

See Michelangelo's frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel

One of the most important structures of the Catholic faith, the Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel is a must-see on a tour of Italy. Though the chapel walls have witnessed centuries of worship, it’s the renaissance ceiling paintings of Michelangelo that will leave you in awe.

Visit the glamorous Isle of Capri

Enjoy the classic Italian summer in Italy’s picture-perfect Gulf of Naples. Famed for its crystal grottos, dramatic coastlines and endless glamour, our trips to Italy are complete with a day of freedom spent under a striped umbrella, watching sailboats pass by.

Cruise your way through Venice

The charm found in the canals of Venice is nothing short of irresistible. Admire gothic palaces and postcard bridges whilst adrift in a gondola, gaining an understanding of life in a city that floats. Exploring a city by foot will never be the same after a trip to Venice.

Journey to the well-preserved ruins of Pompeii

An unfathomable history lesson is found in the archaeological ruins of Pompeii. Buried and preserved by the ash of a volcano eruption in the year 79, in this Italian town you will discover the progressive life of early Roman times as you walk within the parameters of an open-air time capsule of life on Earth.

Go shopping in Italy's fashion capital Milan

Armani, Gucci, Prada and Versace. These are some of the prestigious fashion brands that call the Italian city of Milan home. In between yearning through boutiques and department stores, stop to sample the city’s delicacies like breaded veal cutlet and ossobuco.

Our top 5 things to do in Italy

It's the moments of quiet stillness that take your breath away on a Trafalgar tour through Italy. Sitting in the calm halls of the Vatican. Floating on the canals of Venice. Standing beside the ruins of Pompeii.

Uffizi Gallery

The Tuscan capital is home to Uffizi Gallery, where the brushworks of art’s true masters are found. Names like Raffaello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo dress Uffizi’s grand pink walls, whilst internal courtyards leading to the Arno River will show you the building’s architectural brilliance.

Vatican Museums

A collection of Christian artwork that spans centuries and stirs the soul is found in Rome’s Vatican Museums. From the intricate ceiling by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel to the detailed Pope portraits from the 16th century to today, you will be lost for words once inside this blessed museum complex.

Doge's Palace

Home to the leader of Venice from its opening in 1340, Doge’s Palace summarizes the sparkle of this city. An opulent example of Venetian Gothic architecture and home to numerous historical works, this museum is a must when you visit Venice.

Best museums in Italy

The epicenter of the Catholic faith and the birthplace of art’s most renowned masters. Our guided tours of Italy will take you to the many museums found here, whether in the Sistine Chapel, by the canals of Venice or in the grand galleries of Tuscany.

The authentic carbonara experience will take place in Rome, covered in salty Pecorino Romano cheese. A simple dish inspiring heart-warming meal times, this pasta will connect you with Italy’s rich culinary customs - an impressive evolution from its supposed heritage as a coal-miner’s meal.

Pollo alla Cacciatora

Literally translating to ‘hunter’ in Italian, cacciatore offers an appreciation for Italy’s meals of days gone by. Typically a preparation of rabbit or chicken, it’s the simmering tomato stew that makes this dish so mouthwatering. Satisfy a genuine hunger and consume with hand-ripped bread.

Italy tours are best served with an oversized slice of tiramisu. Cementing this country's obsession with espresso, this cake of layered biscuits soaked in coffee is the perfect after hours pick-me-up before an evening stroll through the charming streets.

Best food in Italy

A date with Italian food will likely start and end with a slice of pizza. But it’s the menu items that we share with you in between that will take your appreciation to new heights; think cacciatore and Carbonara with a slice of tiramisu in between.

What to pack for Italy

People packing for a tour

A classic linen outfit

The Italians are famous for their equal parts glamorous and effortless dress sense. Look the part with a few ensembles featuring classic linens in navy and white.

A blank journal

With the wealth of inspiration tucked into every corner of Italy, you might find yourself compelled to write down notes or memories. At the very least to remember the traditional Italian recipes you learn.

With such a large expanse of space to explore, on some days, long journeys are unavoidable. The scenery will provide plenty of visual entertainment, while headphones can be used to listen to some local music or enjoy podcasts about Italian history, culture and politics when you're not enjoying the storytelling from your Travel Director.

A small blanket

When exploring the soul-stirring setting of Tuscany, a picnic may call. Come prepared with a small blanket to cover in wine and cheese.

Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes

A classic memoir that brought the romance of Tuscany to the world, there’s no better time to read this book than when venturing through the country yourself.

Pack for sustainable travel

Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and reusable toiletry bottles.

What to do in Rome

Rome is a city of eternal appeal in which history, art and culture surround you at every step. Whether its magnificence of the Colosseum or the riches of the Vatican Museums and walks in Trastevere and monumental squares, the past comes alive. And to top it all off, Rome boasts excellent gastronomy – considered among the tastiest in Italy – with an infinite range of trattorias, street food and elegant clubs. So, if you’re not sure where to start, check out our favourite experiences.

The six best activities to do in Rome

1. Admire the works of the Vatican Museums

A truly unmissable attraction in Rome, the Vatican Museums are immense. This Vatican City institution showcases centuries of Western art. Right inside them is the famous Sistine Chapel , whose ceiling was frescoed by Michelangelo. There are also the beautiful papal apartments, decorated with works by Michelangelo and Raphael. The museum is really big – it has 24 galleries – which is why to fully appreciate it, we recommend you visit on a guided tour.

2. Visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum

As soon as you think of Rome, the image of the Colosseum , the Roman amphitheatre that hosted gladiatorial battles and shows, comes to mind. Its monumental architecture embodies the historical richness of the city and the splendour of the Roman Empire. A short distance from the Colosseum is the Forum , the ancient centre of the city’s social life, an archaeological marvel where emperors and citizens made the decisions that changed the course of history. A visit to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum is an incredible journey into the past, a must-do activity on your first trip to Rome.

3. Enter St Peter’s Basilica

Another architectural pearl of the Vatican City and a site of great religious importance, St Peter’s Basilica is a masterpiece that stands out in an equally surprising square. Its distinctive dome is a key element of the city’s skyline. But the best is inside, where there are masterpieces such as La Pietà by Michelangelo and the Baldacchino di San Pietro, designed by Bernini. Admission to the church is free, but it’s worth paying to climb the dome or join a guided tour to appreciate all the details.

4. Discover the history of Castel Sant’Angelo

Near the Vatican on the right bank of the River Tiber stands Castel Sant’Angelo. It oozes history and its ancient architecture can best be admired from the monumental Ponte Sant’Angelo, which connects it to Rome. Originally built as a mausoleum for Roman Emperor Hadrian, over the centuries it has served as a fortress, a prison and a sumptuous Renaissance residence. Today, its seven levels are a museum that retraces the popes, emperors, wars and intrigues that have made the history of Rome.

5. Enjoy the peace of Villa Borghese

Villa Borghese, together with the elegant Galleria Borghese, is an oasis of peace within the frenzy of the city. The villa’s park, where art and nature blend in harmony, is green, well-kept and spacious. But the real gem is the gallery, which needs to be booked in advance. Here, in fact, works by Canova, Caravaggio, Bernini and many others are displayed. A visit to Villa Borghese is not only the perfect activity for those who love art history, but, thanks to its gardens, also for those seeking a bit of relaxation and for families with children.

6. Explore Roman gastronomy

No trip to Rome is complete without sampling its renowned gastronomy. And what better way to do so than by joining a food tour? Stroll the picturesque streets of Trastevere and enjoy the authentic taste of Roman trattorias. Taste supplì, carbonara, artichokes alla giudia and many other local specialities. Or, for a slightly different experience, how about a cooking class with a Roman chef?

Get ready to visit Rome

When’s the best time to visit Rome?

Rome is enchanting throughout the year. The summer months are teeming with visitors, so if you are travelling during this period, we recommend that you book the city’s main highlights well in advance and plan your visiting hours carefully. As for the weather, Roman summers can be very hot and humid, especially in July and August, but rest assured you’ll also get beautiful sunny days. The best time to go to Rome is from April to May and September to November. The weather is sunny but cool, and attractions are on average less crowded. Winter tends to be less busy, but it’s still a great time to visit the capital. Prices are lower, and the Christmas markets light up the city’s squares. You can even attend the Christmas midnight mass at the Vatican.

How many days should you spend in Rome?

There are more treasures in Rome than you can see in a lifetime. A weekend will be enough to take in the main attractions if you book your tickets in advance. The Colosseum , St Peter’s Basilica and the Pantheon are just a handful of its major highlights. But it’s always worth coming back again and again to discover the plethora of museums, churches and monuments it houses. And we haven’t even mentioned all the finest things the ‘dolce vita’ has to offer. In general, our advice is to take it easy and plan at least four days for your trip. This will give you time to stroll through the picturesque alleys, mingle with the locals, savour the traditional Roman cuisine and embrace every moment surrounded by the abundance of beauty.

Where are the best places to stay in Rome?

If this is your first time visiting the city, then you should consider staying in the historic centre. Ideally, the area around the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain is ideal to be close to all the main attractions and well-connected by the metro lines. If you’re looking for a bustling nightlife, filled with clubs and restaurants, then be sure to stay at Trastevere. If you’re looking for a quiet but well-served area, then the Prati district and the Vatican area are great options, both within walking distance of all the main attractions. Last but not least, if you’re craving a truly authentic and definitely cheaper experience, then the Testaccio district will cover your every need.

Gave a great overview of wonderful places in Italy. I would recommend what others have said and get there an extra day early to Venice and stay an extra day in Rome. I also traveled to Verona and Pompeii, both of which I would highly recommend if you have a day to spend.
Excellent, I enjoyed the cities we visited, the guides and the overall experience. The hotel on Florence was a bit odd but the food was great.
What a fabulous day! Met at meeting place by Annalisa and John, (A.K.A James Bond.) Great tour guides and very professional. Safe driver. Stopped in Naples to view Mt Vesuvius and then on to a scrumptious lunch. Picked up Sacha along the way, who took us around Pompei ruins and was a brilliant guide. Was very knowledgeable and made Pompei come to life! Thoroughly recommend I Love Rome tours.

South Italy

Immerse yourself in southern Italy's charm with its sun-kissed beaches, ancient ruins, and vineyard tours. Savor authentic Neapolitan pizza, witness Baroque architecture in Lecce, and sail along the stunning Amalfi Coast.

Visit the eternal city of Rome and explore iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Trevi Fountain. Head to Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance for the famous Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio Bridge and sample fine Tuscany wines.

Campania dazzles with Pompeii's ancient ruins, Naples' lively streets, and Amalfi's stunning coast. Indulge in authentic Neapolitan pizza, enjoy local wines, and explore the breathtaking island of Capri.

"The places and the transportation organized are very well done. The flexibility of the activity enable us to still explore much of the city at our own pace. Only the hotel I wish can improve a level up. Everything else is very well done!!!

Click Tours

"So many issues and confusion. 1st, we were not on a Click Tour, nor a Tourradar tour. We were farmed out to Fantasia/Caranni tours. We had no idea until we landed in Rome and my name was on a paper attached to a what one would call a fence at baggage claim. We had no idea who these people were and why they had our names. We proceeded to the hotel. Tourradar charged us 3 times what a taxi would have cost us to our hotel. Don't book transfers with them, if you book at all. The hotels were not terrible, not great. Very low on amenities and most were far from city center costing lots of taxi rides if you wanted to go into town in any city on the tour. The Hotel St Martin in Rome, where we stayed 3 times in 10 days was right in the middle of a huge Muslim community. Not a racist statement, hear me out. There was little Italian food available without a long walk or a cab ride. But if you're into Halal middle eastern food, you'll love it. I didn't go to Italy too eat anything but italian. The tours were grueling and hot. It was August. So much walking and uphill much of the time. The busses were ok. Air conditioning is not a priority in Italy so it's never cold enough for any American. The schedules were given either the night before or the morning of. Very frustrating. No matter how many times we asked, we were met with, I'll get it to you when you need it. Really? The tours for not follow the exact Itinerary we booked, Grand Journey of Italy. We spent exactly 15 minutes in Naples. That was very disappointing. Some of the trip was amazing. Some of it terrible. The Vatican tour should come with a warning in Summer. 2 of our group passed out and were taken to the hospital. Out Vatican guide was horrible. She said, I'm not waiting for anyone so if you lag behind, I'm leaving you. She did and that's how our 2 members were left. We refused to go on until medical attention arrived. Mona was get name and she should not working there. She's a tyrant and nasty. I had to go to the bathroom and she told me I was hurting her schedule and to hurry up. I'm an adult, I'm not listening to such nonsense. The group was so mad at her for so many reasons. If you go on thr Vatican tour, take lots of water and a fan. It's so hot inside you can breathe. It ruined the tour for us. The best part of the trip was finishing in Sorrento. Views of Mount Vesuvius and a lovely hotel, the Grande Vesuvio. Just beware that there is no where to buy water or sundries without a 15 shuttle ride. Water bottle at the hotel were $8 each. Don't expect Romans to be nice to tourist unless they profit from it. Romans are very rude. The further south you go, the nicer the people get. But honestly, if you think you're going to have a single guide on this tour, You won't. You'll be passed from guide to different tour company many times. I do not recommend either Tourradar nor Click Tours. Find a better company. Oh and the free meals included are sub-par by anyone's standards. And FYI, you do not need any formal wear no matter what the itinerary tells you. We brought dressy clothes and never had occasion if wear them, sadly.

Sicily Activities

"The four of us have had a great time helped by the great knowledge of the tour guides. For our whole group of 8 people, the smaller 8 seater buses with people and luggage were very cramped. Suggest only the larger bus when moving between hotels.
