Shoei J-Cruise II Open Face Helmets One of the most advanced open face helmets on the planet has received a big upgrade, the Japanese brand Shoei are bringing out the new J-Cruise II. This new premium tour helmet is one of the best helmets available when it comes to things such as fit, weight and comfort. Seen as the original J-Cruise was released and became successful without a lot backup in terms of marketing, we expect nothing less from the new and improved successor. AIM multi composite fibre outer shell 3 size outer shell (XS+S+M /L/ XL+XXL) Eligible for Shoei Personal Fitting System Prepared for Sena SRL1/SRL2 communication system The outer shell of the new J-Cruise II is made from Shoei’s patented AIM multi fibre material. This material is built up from fibreglass and organic fibres and it is rock solid, but it remains compact. The outer shell comes in three different sizes, this ensures you will always be wearing the smallest possible helmet – which is a big advantage for the weight and the comfort of the helmet. The Shoei J-Cruise 2 has a large thermoplastic shaped visor, thanks to this is has a lot more shape than a regular visor would have. At the bottom of the visor we can see a clever ‘double lip’ edge, this little edge ensures that the wind is guided to the sides of the helmet and it doesn’t roll under the visor. Many riders choose this helmet to ride all year round – in all conditions. The visor may not have changed, but the base plates on the helmet have. It’s now possible to put the visor in a slight ventilation notch, a feature that was missing on the previous version of the J-Cruise II. At the rear of the helmet we can see a large spoiler to up the game on aerodynamics, this seems to be inspired by the one on the successful Neotec II modular helmet. The new J-Cruise 2 also features the famous Shoei ‘ducktail’ diffuser. The ventilation system has also received a vast update. The original J-Cruise only had 1 air intake on the top, but on the new version we are seeing 3 air intakes on the top. Thanks to this the helmet let’s in up to 30% more cool air than its predecessor. Just like with the Neotec & GT-Air II, the J-Cruise has a specific preparation for the SRL1 & SRL2 communication systems by Sena. Both systems fit seamlessly into this helmet, thanks to this you will not be disturbing the flow of the design or the aerodynamics. The sun visor is 5mm longer than its predecessor and it has the characteristics of a good pair of sunglasses. Of course, the Shoei J-Cruise II can be custom fitted thanks to the patented ‘Shoei Personal Fitting System’. This helmet is currently not out yet, we expect to receive it early 2020. Very probably the best helmet I've owned. It is eye wateringly expensive (particularly if you have the custom intercom). but it is by far the best. OK it doesn't offer the same level of protection around the chin as a full face but is way more comfortable, lighter has a fantastic angle of view, noise suppression is very good.

Shoei J - cruise open face is great blend of quality style and clever ideas. Best of all it's very comfortable and when riding the vision is excellent. The way the visor wraps around makes you feel safer and protected from rain and wind much more than most open face.

Can't fault the company

This is my eighth helmet in this first year of bike ownership. The most expensive but without question the most comfortable ..quality if beyond reproach. Wish I had bought this one first .would have saved myself over a grand ..brilliant helmet buy one!

I spent a long time considering this helmet because of the price but glad I made the choice I did. It is very comfortable to wear with the visor up or down, good internal sun visor also. Not too noisy and the comms are good. Also comfortable to wear with glasses.

Great quality, lightweight and comfortable helmet. The cost is higher for good reason, simply put, you get what you pay for. I wanted an open faced helmet for touring and this does not disappoint. No problem housing my Cardo packtalk bold which works perfectly with the boom mike. Visor closes with a satisfying clunk. Drop down sun protection works seamlessly even when wearing glasses. The Pinlock visor is a worthwhile addition. Rapid service from SBS as always. If you're after a fantastic open faced helmet option look no further.

I have a shoei neotec2 which I use on my bike and was looking for a lid to use on my scooter. The shoei j cruise 2 is fantastic. Comfortable and light. Love it. Excellent service from sbs as is the norm.

I also own a shoei neotec 2...so I expected the fit would be as good..and it is. Field of view and the reduced weight was the reason to buy. Not as noisey as I imagined it would be. Ventilation is fantastic. 5 stars from me...

Great all round vision and comfort. My only gripe is it's a little noisy, not something I remember about my last ones so dropping a star for that. I also installed the Sena SRL2 headset which works flawlessly.

This is the most expensive helmet I have ever bought in 50 years of motorcycling but the price reflects the quality and comfort. The visor is great. Changing from a full face helmet to the J cruise 2 is like going from peering out of a letter box to a panoramic, wide screen TV. I especially like the peripheral vision which means I can glace around and see behind easily. With my full face helmet I have to turn my head much more to achieve the same view. The streamlining is evident with no shake at normal road speeds and the air vents are very effective. My local roads are single track and the sideways lower vision allows a good, essential view of the verges. Two hundred miles of wet riding last weekend demonstrated that the helmet sheds water very well and NOT down my neck! However, the cool, wet weather last night defeated the visor with misting so a pinlock insert is on order.

I am a motorcycle instructor, being able to communicate with a student is import. I was waring a flip front helmet yes it was fine but with comms it was heavy. Before that helmet i wore a open face and found it fine, so I decided to get another. The J cruise 2 is not stocked by many why I don't know, but this is one very good helmet. I ware it while doing pad work and on the road, vision is superb, comms fit perfectly and the vents are great during the current heat wave. It also feels quality.

SHOEI J-Cruise II AGLERO Blue Black

Shoei j-cruise ii aglero helmet features, pinlock ready visor.

SHOEI J-Cruise II AGLERO is PINLOCK-ready and comes with a visor with a full open view design. It sports an outward-facing edge at the visor’s bottom edge which helps lessen wind turbulence and noise from entering.

The visor also has a water-tight enclosure. Plus, it can work with a PINLOCK anti-fog lens for a more unobstructed view while riding.

Its QSV-2 sun visor is lower at 5mm at the nose, while it’s extended at the top for 5mm. This design lets the visor fall slightly lower than usual, blocking out the sun more efficiently.

Ventilation

Aside from the improved visor mechanism, the SHOEI J-Cruise II AGLERO also sports a new ventilation system. It comes with three adjustable upper vents, and two lockable air outlets along the helmet’s rear. These features provide better and more seamless air passage when wearing the helmet.

When the air outlets are kept open, warm air exits the helmet. It’s due to the smart development of inner air channels, providing excellent passage of air in the helmet.

Design, Build, and Parts of the J-Cruise II AGLERO

This helmet from SHOEI sports the AIM+ or Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi-Fiber. It’s a high-performing organic material that has increased elasticity and thus, incorporated into multiple layers of glass fiber.

Water Absorption and Quick Dry Fabric

J-Cruise II AGLERO sports a special type of material by UNITICA that better absorbs moisture and sweat on the interior. This material utilized for the helmet’s interior is a hybrid piece between quick-drying, moisture-absorbent, and soft elevated material.

It is present on some areas of the helmet that covers the brow and cheeks since sweat tends to stick here. For areas where the skin usually rubs when removing the helmet, this soft fabric is present in those areas.

For the bottom edge of the helmet’s cheek pad, SHOEI made use of a leather-like material. It’s more durable compared to the one used for earlier models.

Shoei J-cruise 2

The Shoei J-Cruise II is the successor to the popular J-Cruise helmet. The original J-Cruise was already one of the most advanced Open-Face Helmets available. Now with the Shoei J-Cruise II they made it even better. At Champion Helmets we love reviewing new products from Shoei helmets because of the craftsmanship of the Japanese manufacturer. They didn’t let us down with the new J-Cruise 2, they've done a great job. This helmet targets the urban rider who is looking for a high end Open-Face Touring helmet for daily use, that wants no compromise on comfort and safety. Its predecessor - the original J-cruise already offered a few nice features. It was the first Open face helmet with an internal sun visor that is certified as sunglasses according to European guidelines . The Visor Mechanism was also renewed on the J-Cruise Two. Sealing the visor better into shell. In order not to compromise on safety, they have not made the multi piece EPS liner thinner, but the outer shell has been raised to accommodate the internal sun shield. As expected from Shoei, this is a Top quality helmet with an AIM shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix) and an EPS inner shell with different densities for superior impact absorption. The outer shell comes in 4 different sizes (1 more than the previous J-Cruise) for a perfect helmet fit. Making the J-Cruise II more compact thanks to the several outer shell sizes. The helmet is prepared for the SENA SRL-2 communication system which is also used by the Shoei Neotec 2 ( modular) and the Shoei GT-Air 2 (full-face) respectively.

Competition Shoei J-Cruise 2

A competitor of the Shoei J-Cruise 2 is the Schuberth M1 Pro . This is also a premium jet helmet with a light fiberglass shell. It has excellent ventilation, an integrated sun visor and is prepared for a communication system with pre-installed microphone and speakers. The recommended retail price of the M1 Pro starts from € 439.95. The Arai SZ-R Vas is also a competitor of the Shoei J-Cruise II. The helmet shell consists of the characteristic super fibre layers of Arai, with a sticking fibre mat between them. In addition, this super strong material has a low weight. This helmet is also equipped with excellent ventilation that is copied from the Arai RX-7V . Furthermore, this helmet is prepared for an external sun visor and a communication system, for which there are speaker bags in the lining. This helmet has a recommended retail price starting from € 599. These helmets are available at Champion Helmets for an excellent price. The Advanced Integrated Matrix shell consists of several layers of high-quality composite and organic fibres. The combination of these materials gives this outer shell a shock resistant capacity and optimum rigidity. Another characteristic of this combination of materials is the low weight of about 1350 grams . This motorcycle helmet is equipped with an updated Stainless Steel micro ratchet closure . This micro ratchet closure is an easy to handle, adjustable closure to keep the helmet on your head. Another update on the J-Cruise 2 is that they've made the shell more aerodynamic. The extensive wind tunnel testing has paid off. According Shoei the Yawing of the visor (the pushing of the headwind to the sides) has been improved by 43%, enabling the helmet to sort of slide through the air.

Ventilation

One of the changes compared to its predecessor is the ventilation system. The new J-Cruise 2 features 3 adjustable upper vents (instead of 2 on the original version) two lockable air outlets on the back of the helmet which give a smooth passage of air. If the two rear air outlets are open, warm air is sucked out of the helmet. The internal air channels are very cleverly developed, giving maximum passage of air improving the overall ventilation in the helmet. The air intake which is measured by ml/min has increased by 30%, which is quite spectacular because the ventilation on the original J-Cruise was already phenomenal compared to its competitors.

The Pinlock ready Shoei J-Cruise 2 J-2 visor with a wide open view, has an outward facing edge at the bottom end of the visor, preventing wind noise and wind turbulence from entering into the helmet. At the top the visor closes watertight. Furthermore, the visor is prepared for a Pinlock anti-fog lens and has been treated with a scratch resistant coating. The Pinlock lens comes with the helmet in the box. The internal sun visor has been renewed as well. The QSV-2 Sun Visor falls 5 mm lower at the nose and is extended 5 mm on top. This makes the visor fall a little lower blocking out the sun better. has been tested according to the DIN EN 1836 standard. The Visor Mechanism is renewed on the J-Cruise 2. This enables a new ventilation position which its predecessor didn't have. This gives you extra ventilation when you ride in an urban environment.

The 3D Max Dry interior liner is fully removable, washable, antibacterial and moisture wicking. This liner allows for smooth moisture absorption and very quickly carries it off. Sweat or no sweat the lining feels nice, dry and comfortable. The lining also includes ear pads to reduce noise. They can also be replaced by the speakers of the dedicated SENA SRL 2 communication systems. The cheek pads are available in different thicknesses and they fit into the different helmet sizes. So you can adjust the thickness of the cheek pads to your personal preference, depending on the shape of your face. The liner of the J-Cruise 2 can also be tailor made to your head with the Shoei Personal Fit service offered in our physical shop.

One of the most advanced open face helmets on the planet has received a big upgrade, the Japanese brand Shoei are bringing out the new J-Cruise II. This new premium tour helmet is one of the best helmets available when it comes to things such as fit, weight and comfort. Seen as the original J-Cruise was released and became successful without a lot backup in terms of marketing, we expect nothing less from the new and improved successor.

The outer shell of the new J-Cruise II is made from Shoei’s patented AIM multi fibre material. This material is built up from fibreglass and organic fibres and it is rock solid, but it remains compact. The outer shell comes in three different sizes, this ensures you will always be wearing the smallest possible helmet – which is a big advantage for the weight and the comfort of the helmet.

The Shoei J-Cruise 2 has a large thermoplastic shaped visor, thanks to this is has a lot more shape than a regular visor would have. At the bottom of the visor we can see a clever ‘double lip’ edge, this little edge ensures that the wind is guided to the sides of the helmet and it doesn’t roll under the visor. Many riders choose this helmet to ride all year round – in all conditions.

The visor may not have changed, but the base plates on the helmet have. It’s now possible to put the visor in a slight ventilation notch, a feature that was missing on the previous version of the J-Cruise II.

At the rear of the helmet we can see a large spoiler to up the game on aerodynamics, this seems to be inspired by the one on the successful Neotec II modular helmet. The new J-Cruise 2 also features the famous Shoei ‘ducktail’ diffuser. The ventilation system has also received a vast update. The original J-Cruise only had 1 air intake on the top, but on the new version we are seeing 3 air intakes on the top. Thanks to this the helmet let’s in up to 30% more cool air than its predecessor.

Just like with the Neotec & GT-Air II, the J-Cruise has a specific preparation for the SRL1 & SRL2 communication systems by Sena. Both systems fit seamlessly into this helmet, thanks to this you will not be disturbing the flow of the design or the aerodynamics. The sun visor is 5mm longer than its predecessor and it has the characteristics of a good pair of sunglasses. Of course, the Shoei J-Cruise II can be custom fitted thanks to the patented ‘Shoei Personal Fitting System’.

COST of day trip to Moscow ??

We have just booked a cruise to the Baltics for next year. I am trying to find out the average cost for a day trip to Moscow from STP. I have searched several times, and whilst I have read reviews and reports about the trips etc - I cannot actually see any examples of the costs. I imagine its quite expensive - but we want to do it so I need to budget LOL !!

Any ballpark figures ? :D

We did the Moscow trip through our cruise ship in late July 2008. Its cost was a little under $1000 pp. Now, that cost through this cruise line is a little over that $1000 pp cost. Now, most are using the high-speed rail connection versus the air flights as we did. I have seen some other numbers from other cruise lines and/or private firms that run $700-850.

Why cheaper or the differences? As cruise lines are pressured to keep their "sticker price" low, they need to make up some "margin" with ship tours, beverages, spa stuff, etc., to help cover their costs and gain some profit. Second, different tours provide various features. Our tour included going inside the famed and spectacular Kremlin Palace. Most Moscow tours don't feature that option and you cannot just walk up there and get in on your own. That Palace is where the Czars were crowned and all of the current/recent Russian leaders assumed their powers.

We could have saved a little if we had used a private tour to go to and visit Moscow, but, with my wife's pushing, we felt it was worth it to pay a little more, do it through the cruise line. If there had been any problems or mix-ups, it was the ship's duty to "make it right" and we would not have to worry.

If you have three days in St. Petersburg and/or have been there before, then the Moscow tour can work out very well. It's not cheap, but in my view, worth it!! Both are a few of my visuals from this super great city with such interesting history and dramatic architecture.

St. Basil's sits on Red Square and dates back to its 1555-61 construction on the orders of Ivan the Terrible (Ivan IV). It commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan and marks the geometric center of the city. This location has been the hub of its growth for Moscow since the 14th century. It was the tallest building in Moscow until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600. This church was near destroyed in the 1930’s when Stalin was in control.:

This is the interior for Moscow's most historic church, Assumption Cathedral or the Cathedral of the Dormition, inside the Kremlin walls. It is the mother church of Muscovite Russia. The church stands on Cathedral Square and was built in 1475–1479 by the Italian architect Aristotele Fioravanti. It was erected on the spot of an older 14th century cathedral of the same name:

However, we did go to the Diamond Fund, an amazing display of crown jewels and jewelry in the Armoury building but not really part of the Armoury. I would think you could include this if you had a small group and really wanted to see it. It is quite small and does not accommodate a large group. You can google "diamond fund kremlin" to learn more.
