Staycations in the UAE remain popular with Dubai leading a list of the top destinations for UAE residents.

Abu Dhabi came second in the list by YouGov, which ranked the top 10 destinations for UAE consumers using what the global public opinion and data company calls an impression score.

Dubai ranked highest with a score of 65.7, while the UAE capital was right behind with a score of 50.2. Both cities improved on their 2021 impression scores.

Abu Dhabi ranks second in the list of the places that UAE residents hold the highest impression of. Photo: Yas Links

Internationally, the destination that UAE residents hold in the highest regard is Switzerland , which had a score of 31.6.

Famed as much for its natural alpine beauty as it is for its expensive watches and handcrafted chocolate, the country has also eased entry requirements. Travellers from the UAE can now fly to Switzerland without any Covid-19 restrictions such as pre-departure tests , vaccination requirements or passenger locator forms.

Singapore is the second international destination and fourth overall on the list. The Lion City also had the highest change in score, improving 6.3 points since 2021.

Having imposed some of the strictest border rules at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the island nation is slowly reopening to visitors and vaccinated UAE residents can visit from Friday, if they meet eligibility requirements and undergo quarantine.

Canada — which has just eased Covid-19 testing restrictions for travellers — is the third international country ranked highest by UAE residents. The sprawling nation famed for its craggy coastlines, culture-filled cities and mountain-laden wilderness, scored 28.6.

Holiday hotspot the Maldives also ranked in the top 10.

The idyllic island nation was the fourth-highest ranked foreign destination, and sixth overall. With most islands in the archipelago sticking to a one-isle, one-resort policy, the Indian Ocean destination offers social distancing almost by default.

Interestingly, there were no US destinations in the top 10, a country that has typically been a popular place for UAE residents to visit.

Top 10 destinations for UAE consumers

  • Abu Dhabi 50.2
  • Switzerland 31.6
  • Singapore 30.9
  • Canada 28.6
  • Maldives 27.6
  • Germany 23.2
  • South Korea 21.8

The information was published as part of YouGov’s Travel & Tourism: Brand & Destination Rankings 2022, which also ranked Emirates as the number one brand for travellers in the UAE, followed by Etihad Airways.

In case you’re planning to travel to this paradise, here’s everything you need to know.

Meanwhile, vaccinated UAE residents can travel quarantine free to 19 other countries this summer.

What Are The COVID‑19 Testing Requirements?

As of 10 June, all passengers are required to have a negative result, taken no later than 72 hours prior to departure. Passengers travelling with a rapid antigen test certificate must test for COVID‑19 (PCR or rapid antigen test) immediately on arrival in Switzerland.

All travelers entering Switzerland by plane, with a proof that they have been fully vaccinated, must complete the online form of the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH for incoming travelers.

Who Is Exempted From The Covid-19 Test?

Children below 16 years are exempted from the COVID‑19 test requirement. Besides, passengers who have recently contracted COVID‑19 and therefore test positive must provide a medical certificate proving that they have been treated for COVID‑19 and cured in the last 6 months.

What Are The Rules For Vaccinated Passengers?

Passengers who provide evidence that they have been vaccinated against COVID‑19 must comply with the following requirements below.

People who are fully vaccinated are exempt from many health‑related measures at the border. However, they must ensure that the vaccine is authorised in Switzerland. Passengers must also be fully vaccinated according to the FOPH recommendations.

The steps involved in applying for a Switzerland tourist visa from Dubai Explore Switzerland today with Go Kite’s easy visit visa process

Step-1 determine if you need a visa.

Before you  begin the application procedure, you must  first decide if you require a visa to enter Switzerland as  a tourist. Visas are  not required for citizens of some countries, including the United Arab Emirates, for stays of  up to 90 days. You will, however, need  to apply for a tourist visa if you are not  a citizen of one of the excluded  nations. The  list of exempt nations is  available on the website of the Swiss Embassy in  the UAE.

Step-2 Gather all necessary documents

Once it has been  determined that you need a tourist visa to enter Switzerland , it  is important to gather all the necessary documents for your  application. This  may include a valid passport, passport photograph, proof of travel  arrangements, proof of accommodation, proof  of financial resources and a completed visa application  form. Make sure you  check the specific requirements for your  home country and the type of  visa you are applying for as these can  vary. Also note that all  documents must be in English, French, German or Italian or be accompanied by a certified  translation.

Step-3 Fill out the visa application form

Filling out the visa  application form is one of the most significant tasks in applying for  a Switzerland visit visa from Dubai . This form  may be obtained at the Swiss Embassy’s website in  the UAE. Fill out all  areas of the form completely and precisely, and  include all needed information and supporting  documents. A visa application  fee may also be required, which may be  paid online or in person at the  embassy. After you submit  your application, the embassy will analyze it and notify you of the  decision.

Step-4 Schedule an appointment at the Swiss embassy or consulate

After completing  the visa application form and gathering all relevant  papers, the next step in applying for a Switzerland tourist visa   from Dubai is to make an appointment at the Swiss embassy or  consulate. This may  be done online or over the phone, and  you will need to supply your name, passport number, and  other personal information. During your  appointment, you will be needed to submit your application  and supporting papers, as well as  give biometric data such as fingerprints and a  photograph. It is critical to  appear on time for your appointment and carry  all needed papers, since failing to do so  may result in delays or refusal of your visa  application.

Step-5 Attend your appointment and wait for your visa to be processed

You must wait for  your visa to be processed after submitting your  application and biometric data to the Swiss embassy or  consulate. The processing  period varies by embassy or consulate, however it usually  takes roughly 10-15 working days. During this period, you may  check the status of your application online by entering the reference  number you were given at your  appointment. You will  receive your passport with the visa attached after your visa has been  completed. Check the visa  carefully to confirm that all information is true and corresponds to your travel  plans. With your visa in  hand, you can now plan your vacation to Switzerland and  enjoy all of the country’s beauty and  charm.

Switzerland people give utmost respect to art, and it is passed on from generation to generation. Even though the country lacks skilled artists, it has set up art museums in every corner which display all kinds of modern, contemporary and abstract arts. However, Swiss art mainly concentrates on folk art and is all about wood carvings, poetry, music and embroidery.

The Country of Cheese

Switzerland is famous for the production of Cheese as it produces different varieties of Cheese in different quantities and quality. The Swiss dairy industry is one of the growing industries in the country and contributes a lot to its economy.
