Mt Kilimanjaro Trek - Machame Route (8 Days)
I am very happy that Tour Radar led my friend Peter (who originally started planning this trip, then had to back out) to G Adventures and Gerald's Dream Team. By the end of the trip, we were all family. We (the climbers) trusted them with our lives, and they took excellent care of us.
Mt Kilimanjaro Trek - Lemosho Route

Kilimanjaro climbing machame route 7 days
We had a fantastic experience with Almighty Kilimanjaro. All 7 of us made it to the top. Our Guides, cooks, and porters had every detail in hand. Swalahi is the best chief guide ever. The Machame 7 day route was perfect to prepare us to make the summit. What a way to celebrate my 65th birthday, and do it with my wife and 2 sons. We have no regrets with our Almighty. If we were ever to do it again we would not go with anyone else. They earned our total confidence.
Kilimanjaro: Machame Route
This was an incredibly challenging and rewarding trip. The Intrepid guides were so knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We had a fantastic group with great dynamics, the food was good, the equipment was well looked after, our porters were such hard workers and our guides knew everything there was to know about the mountain and how to best deal with the altitude and looked after us all really well. I highly recommend climbing Kili with Intrepid.
Mount Kilimanjaro climbing via Marangu Route 8 days Tanzania (all accommodation and transport are included)
spider tours and safaris is a local Company and that is one of the reasons we chose them, in order to support a local Company. They are very serious in the pre-booking and we managed to book several tours that were linked. Our first tour was safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater. Our driver was Rojas, he picked us up at the border from Kenya and drove us to Serengeti. It was an Amazing 3 Days with Rojas, doing safari from North Serengeti to central and then the crater. We saw the big five and lived at Amazing lodges already prebooked with spider tours and safaris. Rojas also took us to a masai village (I would skip that, it is a rip off). He was a very good driver and guide and we had super fun with him in the car! Then the last day he drow us to Moshi, to our hotel were we met our guide for our Kilimanjaro tour (also booked with spider tours and safaris). The only thing we felt here was that we are hikers from Scandinavia and we were already equipped with warm clothes, so they sold us over a 100 dollars of rental, most of we needed but the thermal pants and the extra flees I never used. However the rest of the trip, was Amazing. Beautiful scenery, Amazing chef, Amazing porters. They made us come up on the top, which was a huge success. They also helped with transports when we got back to the hotel and to the Airport and were super helpful and friendly. Also a fair price to climb the mountain. I highly recommend them!!

Kilimanjaro climb lemosho route 8 days
I last minute signed up solo to do Kili over new years with Almighty Kilimanjaro & was totally nervous beforehand but couldn’t have had a more incredible time. Everything from start to finish was just perfect, Joseph & Muneer and the whole gang up with us were the true heroes and took such good care of us. Everyday was so much fun and everyone really went above and beyond to make this the best experience of my life. Not quite sure how Abu managed to make some of the best food I’ve had up on Kili but the whole team are just so special & couldn’t recommend taking the plunge and going with this group more. Thank you for everything - it was the best experience of my life!

Kilimanjaro Climbing Via Lemosho Route 10 Days (all accommodation and transport are included)
This was my first guided climb but I was very pleased withe the service and support that brayan and his team at spider tours and safaris provided. They graciously pick you up at the airport, transport you to a wonderful hotel and assist you with your orientation to their culture. The climb became the secondary adventure for me. Being in Tanzania and being around the wonderful people brayan has on his team was truly a life changing event. This companies focus on customer service rivals anything you will see from companies in America.

Serengeti Safari - (PRIVATE TRIP)
After a Kili climb we went on Safari. The arrangements at the lodges and the experience of our guide, Peter, made the trip memorable and unforgettable. We recommend using Oneseed for Safari and letting them take care of all of the plans from a hot air balloon ride to birthday celebration. It was a wonderful experience all the way around. We so treasure the trip and seeing the animals in their natural environment.
8 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing - Lemosho Route
We took the Lemosho route with the team led by Arnold and crew who were very professional. You could feel that they were experienced in managing the climb and they went that extra mile to make sure everything went smooth. Even with the uncertainty of the weather. It was a very scenic and beautiful route. The food was great and there was plenty of it. All in all, we had a fantastic Kilimanjaro climb with Steppe Dogs Adventures.
Climb Kili Lemosho Route 7 Day CLIMB, **Qualified Mountain Guides & Sustainability Certification**
We had a great time with William and Stevie! They really knew their stuff and safely guided us to the top. Would recommend 10/10!!
8 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing - Machame Route
I had no idea what to expect when I signed up for this adventure. I have no hesitation in stating that my experience was extremely positive. I always felt like I was in good hands. The guides were highly motivational. On summit day, there were times when I thought I couldn't carry on - I know that the guides' positive attitude and encouraging words kept me going. I couldn't believe the level of orchestration that goes into getting a group to successfully summit. The porters are simply extraordinary. To be able to wake up in the morning, pack up my things and know that I can roll into camp that evening and have everything ready and waiting for me made the whole experience so comfortable. I was elated to be met by my tent person every afternoon. The lead guide, Arnold, was highly skilled at managing our group and he did so with a perfect balance of discipline and humor. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Steppe Dogs Adventures. The attention to detail was impressive and I felt fully informed from start to finish.
Big Five Luxury Safari in Tanzania **Sustainable Approach to Travel
Amazing trip to a beautiful country! The pictures are not even close to reality. Smooth organization with punctual drivers and almost too friendly staff. Highlight was the safari guide (Issa) who made this trip exceptional!
Kilimanjaro: Rongai Route
Great trip! Just prepare yourself with plenty of excercise/hiking/running preferably at altitude. Have the right gear! Guides, organisation was excellent. Can't fault intrepid at all for this. Amazing experience I will never forget.
Premium Tanzania
What people love about tanzania tours.
I got Covid from someone in the group. For a high altitude hike like this, we should have been tested for Covid. It not like I could avoid it, we ate together in an enclosed tent.
Excellent tour as expected.
The safari to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area was excellent. The guide, Lewis, was quite knowledgeable, the accommodation better than other camp sites, and the meals very delicious. It also helped that we saw all five of the Big 5! In addition, we saw baby elephants rolling about in the mud, a pack of spotted hyena dealing with a carcass, and a male and female lion attempting to mate. Lake Manyara was a little disappointing because the heavy rains had stirred up the mud in the water and discouraged the birds from feeding there. I also felt that the guide was not as informative as Lewis. The visit to Materuni Falls was good although very muddy because of the wet weather. The food was excellent and the coffee tour very lively and entertaining.

Find the Big Five
Jump into a specially designed safari vehicle and journey deep into the vast, grassy plains of the Serengeti to search for the Big Five (the lion, the leopard, the bush elephant, the Cape buffalo and the rhino). The animals are active at different times of the day, which is why we head out on four game drives – two in the early morning and two in the late afternoon – for the best chance of spotting Africa's most iconic wildlife.
Explore Ngorongoro Crater
At over 12 miles wide and almost 2,000 feet deep, the scenes of Ngorongoro Crater's craggy volcanic peaks and lush grasslands are almost as impressive as the 30,000 animals that call it home. Traverse the crater floor in an open-roof 4WD to track down large game and smaller critters. If you're lucky, you might see lions, leopards, elephants and hippos. And if you're really lucky, maybe even an endangered black rhino.
Meet local communities
You might come for the Big Five, but you'll stay for the culture and hospitality. Home to over 120 tribes, the little town of Mto wa Mbu is home to diverse cultures, languages and customs. Visit a local community to learn about traditional ways of life, sample banana beer, meet some local craftspeople and share a homecooked meal with a family in their home. This is the Tanzania most travelers don't see.
Cycle alongside antelope
Swap four wheels for two on an epic cycling-come-safari adventure through some of Tanzania's lesser-known landscapes. From cycling in the shadow of Mount Meru to whooshing past wildebeest and millions of flamingoes in Lake Manyara, cycling allows you to go where cars can't and immerse yourself in the wildness and beauty of the African bush at a slower pace.

When's the best time to go on a safari in Tanzania?
The best time to go on safari in Tanzania is generally during the dry season from June to October. The drier weather makes it easier to track wildlife as vegetation is thinner and higher concentrations of game congregate around permanent waterholes. Tanzania has two rainy seasons – the 'long rains' from April to May and the 'short rains' from November to December. The long rains bring high humidity and tropical downpours while the short rains see brief showers. Despite the rain and the thicker vegetation which can make it more difficult to spot wildlife, it's usually less crowded, everything lush and green, and there are more baby animals around.
If you visit between May and September, you may get to experience the annual Great Migration (there's no way to predict when it'll happen, but it's usually within these months). This epic natural phenomenon sees millions of wildebeest (often mixed with herds of zebra and antelope – followed by hungry lions!) travel across the Serengeti in search of water as the dry season sets in. As you can imagine, this is the experience of a lifetime.
Am I guaranteed to see animals?
We can’t guarantee you’ll spot the Big 5, but you’d have to be seriously unlucky to see no animals at all. On our safaris, you’ll explore some of the best game parks and national reserves in the world. These protected areas are filled with a huge variety of species and your expert driver and local leader will be on hand to point you in the right direction (literally).
What are the "Big Five"?
The “Big 5” used to refer to the five big game animals that were the most difficult to hunt. Now that most shooting is done on a camera, the Big 5 are the most exciting animals to spot while on safari: the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo.
What should I pack for a safari in Kenya?
Loose, light layers in neutral colors are the best attire for a safari (dark colors will get hot in the sun and can attract the Tsetse fly). You’ll also want a sun hat, some good walking shoes, a camera, sunscreen and bug spray. For more details, check out our ultimate Africa packing guide .
What type of food will be served on a safari in Tanzania?
It depends on the trip style you've chosen. On our Basix trips, you’ll have a cook traveling with you who'll whip up a variety of local and Western-style dishes. Along your route, your cook will stop to purchase fresh, locally sourced food for your meals. You can expect a variety of things for breakfast like fruit, eggs, toast and cereal; lunch is often sandwiches and salads; and dinner is usually a hearty meal like pasta, curry or a BBQ.
On our Original and Comfort trips there'll be more meals at camps and lodges along the way. One thing's for sure: you definitely won't be going hungry on safari!
What are the toilets and showers like on safari?
Most of the permanent tented camps will have private bathrooms with flushing toilets and showers with warm water.
Many of the campsites we stay at have communal facilities with flushing toilets and showers with warm water. However, in some of the more remote areas, there may only be basic facilities (toilets and cold running water).
Will I be able to use my cell phone on safari?
Some of our hotels and campsites will have Wi-Fi, however, internet and phone access may be limited in more remote areas. But you won’t think twice about emails and social media when you’re watching a pride of lions prowl through long grass or enjoying a drink around the campfire with your group.
Are Intrepid's Tanzania safaris accessible for travelers with disabilities?
We are committed to making travel accessible to everyone, so we will work with you to assess whether you will be able to complete an existing itinerary, or whether we will be able to make reasonable adjustments to meet your needs before you book. Please see our accessible travel page for more information.

Africa Safari Trip: A Comprehensive Guide To Crafting Unforgettable Memories
H ave you witnessed a lion’s roar echo across the savanna or watched a herd of elephants lumber by? An Africa safari trip is an otherworldly experience, but where do you even begin? This guide will equip you with all the essentials to plan your unforgettable adventure . Even though it can seem overwhelming at times, if you’re equipped with the right guidance and information, the procedure is rather easy.
To help you plan the perfect safari tour in Africa, in addition to answering the majority of your frequently asked questions, we’re put together some of the greatest tips and useful suggestions.
Choosing the Location of Your African Safari Trip
An Africa safari trip promises an enchanted world of discovery, where each expedition and place holds the potential to reveal a captivating tale. Every area of this enormous continent, from the lush deltas of the south to the brilliant savannahs of the east, offers a different fabric of fauna and culture. This is more than just a journey—it’s an exploration of the core of nature, where opportunity abounds at every turn.
African safaris are unique among travel experiences because of the authentic, natural spectacle of the wild. These excursions aim to fully immerse you in the world of animals, not just observe them. Planning your destination is among the most crucial aspects of preparation for any holiday, including this one. Africa is vast, so it’d be helpful to start with a “where to go on an Africa safari trip” Google search if you have no idea what to do.
To select the ideal safari destination, you must consider the things you wish to see. Are there any specific animals or cultural events you would like to see? Kenya and Tanzania from July to October are your best choices if you’ve always wanted to see the Great Wildebeest Migration. Visit either Botswana or South Africa to see a huge herd of African elephants throughout the year.
In East Africa and the majority of Southern African nations, the “Big Five” are also widely distributed. Travel to Uganda, Rwanda or the Congo for gorilla trekking; these countries are all in Central Africa. If you want to see chimpanzees on your Africa safari tour, Uganda is the ideal place to do it.
Top 5 Choice Destinations for Your Africa Safari Trip
Here are our top five African wildlife safari destinations to help you plan your trip.
Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve
At the Maasai Mara Reserves, the Big Five roam free, and boundless plains extend into the horizon on a wildlife safari. Traveling off-road and appreciating the lack of fences and lodging at any of the Mara conservation areas allows you to experience the breathtaking sight of countless wildebeests roaring across the East African savanna around the Great Migration.
From open safari vehicles, watch as lions hunt their prey with unparalleled subtlety. Elephants socialize within their close-knit groups, and elegant giraffes peruse acacia trees with grace. A fascinating insight into the Maasai people’s dynamic local culture, which is entwined with the land, its profusion of wildlife, and the natural beauties of the wildness itself, is provided by Maasai Mara.
Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park
Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park is home to a large environment that is brimming with life. See the boundless plains packed with antelopes, zebras, and wildebeests as they migrate in a never-ending dance of survival throughout your Africa safari trip. It’s what you anticipate seeing on game drives following your viewing of National Geographic or PBS programs. You might be amazed watching the big cats lounging in the shade following a good hunt, or you might experience the exhilaration of seeing a cheetah racing across the landscape in a flurry of speed.
There are other methods to observe wildlife, such as taking a hot-air balloon flight across the savanna for breath-inspiring, all-encompassing views of this iconic African terrain. Seasonality is essential when thinking about visiting the Serengeti; never schedule an unplanned online vacation.
Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park
You can feel the African wilderness in Zambia, not just see it. In contrast to safaris that are limited to metal enclosures, South Luangwa encourages you to stroll among the animals rather than drive by them. Imagine your heart racing as you make your way through verdant riverine forests full of leopards hiding in their disguises, only to be astounded by vast herds of buffalo crossing wide-open savannas.
As you approach elephants bathing, listen to the Luangwa River’s rushing waters, which will lead you to the echoes of night safaris. You can unwind in the unexpected comfort of fly tents or treehouse retreats when the stars adorn the sky.
South Africa’s Greater Kruger National Park
You can journey across acacia woodlands and tour places with sun-filled savannas along the rushing waters of the Sabi River in South Africa’s Greater Kruger National Park. Hear the echoes of prehistoric existence and see the exhilarating dance of adventures amidst the rare species. Renowned for its almost assured Big Five meetings, you get to experience the exhilarating thrill of seeing elephants trumpeting by a waterhole or lions relaxing in golden light—you don’t have to imagine it.
There is more to Kruger’s artistry than the Big Five. Higher populations of predators and a more varied array of species can be found in the superb private game reserves found in the Greater Kruger National Park. Wander along the river where crocodiles and hippos sunbathe before becoming lost in the rainbow of more than 500 different bird species.
Botswana’s Okavango Delta
Emerald islands emerge from the reflecting waters of the spreading waterways of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A mokoro is a native dugout canoe in which you may sail softly and intimately while spotting sleeping hippos afar and thirsty elephants sipping at the riverbanks .
Search among the trees for one of the greatest spots to see leopards or take in the aerial views of storks, eagles, and pelicans.
In such a distant location, the Okavango Delta boasts one of the largest concentrations of upscale safari resorts in Southern Africa, providing you with exclusive access to convenience and uncrowded rivers for a singular embrace of unspoiled wildlife.
Tips For An Outstanding African Safari Adventure
The foundation of a great African safari is effective communication. It makes sure you get the best possible experience out of your trip by bridging the gap between what you expect and the actual conditions of the environment. There are three communication techniques to help you receive the experience you want by interacting with an Africa safari trip guide or travel advisor .
Clearly state your demands and desires. Tell us about your ideal speed, cultural attractions, the wildlife you hope to see, and any unique interests you may have, such as birdwatching or photography. This enables your guide to customize your safari adventures based on your interests and budget. Mention any possible restrictions. Any physical restrictions or sensitivity should be disclosed to your guide to guarantee a fun and safe trip.
Pose inquiries. Never be afraid to ask questions about anything that piques your curiosity, be it local customs or the behavior of animals. Your guide holds a wealth of information that is just waiting to be discovered.
African safaris are an ode to the diversity and grandeur of nature. Every excursion offers a chance for a profound and intimate connection with nature. However, in a world full of breathtaking locations, the real art of travel is in how you take in each one. Each destination has a spirit of its own, and you can make transforming vacation experiences with the correct itinerary in addition to ones that are simply memorable.
Whether you’re traveling to the wild African savannahs or the charming countryside of Tuscany, creating a one-of-a-kind, dreamlike trip requires careful planning and vital information. It all comes down to creating a seamless, stress-free, and uniquely personalized tapestry of memories.
People Also Ask
How far should my Africa safari trip be scheduled? It’s advisable to make reservations eight to twelve months in advance of when you wish to go or depart for your selected African safari location. Enough time guarantees availability and your place at the top of the line for the most desirable experiences that Africa presents. It is always better to schedule your safari trip earlier than undergo a last-minute rush.
When is the ideal time to go on an Africa safari trip? The dry season, which runs from June to October, is the ideal time to go on a safari. Since it’s a warmer period of the year, there’s a greater chance that you’ll spot creatures looking for water. You can also witness the famous Masai Mara migration during these months.
- Breaking News
Kenya, Tanzania brace for cyclone as heavy rains persist
Pressure mounts over detainee handling
‘Extreme pressures’ force festival canning
Mall rocked by second alleged knife incident
Kenya and Tanzania were bracing Thursday for a cyclone on the heels of torrential rains that have devastated East Africa, killing more than 350 people and forcing tens of thousands from their homes.
In addition to claiming 188 lives in Kenya since March, the floods have displaced 165,000 people, with 90 reported missing, the interior ministry said, as the government warned citizens to remain on alert.
"Crucially, the coastal region is likely to experience Cyclone Hidaya, which will result in heavy rainfall, large waves and strong winds that could affect marine activities in the Indian Ocean," the office of Kenyan President William Ruto said.
Neighbouring Tanzania, where at least 155 people have been killed in flooding and landslides, is also expected to feel the force of Hidaya.
"The presence of Hidaya Cyclone... is expected to dominate and affect the weather patterns in the country including heavy rain and strong winds in some Regions near Indian Ocean," Tanzania Red Cross Society said on X, formerly Twitter.
Kenya's capital Nairobi is among the areas expected to suffer heavy rains over the next three days, the Kenya Meteorological Department said on X, warning of strong winds and large ocean waves along the country's coastline.
The forecaster urged residents to be vigilant for flash floods and lightning strikes, adding that strong winds could "blow off roofs, uproot trees" and cause other damage.
The heavier than usual rains have also claimed at least 29 lives in Burundi, with 175 people injured, and tens of thousands displaced since September last year, the United Nations said.
- Stranded tourists -
Earlier this week Ruto announced he was deploying Kenya's military to evacuate everyone living in flood-prone areas.
In a bulletin released Thursday evening, the interior ministry ordered anyone living close to major rivers or near 178 "filled up or near filled up dams or water reservoirs" to vacate the area within 24 hours, warning that they would otherwise face "mandatory evacuation for their safety."
The devastation has also affected Kenya's tourism sector -- a key economic driver -- with some 100 tourists marooned in the famed Maasai Mara wildlife reserve on Wednesday after a river overflowed, flooding lodges and safari camps.
Rescuers later managed to evacuate 90 people by ground and air, the interior ministry said.
The area is currently inaccessible with bridges washed away, Narok West sub-county administrator Stephen Nakola told AFP, adding that about 50 camps in the reserve have been affected, putting more than 500 locals temporarily out of work.
There are no fatalities but communities living around the area have been forced to move away.
"Accessing the Mara is now a nightmare and the people stuck there are really worried, they don't have an exit route," Nakola said, adding that waterborne diseases were likely to emerge.
"I am worried that the situation could get worse because the rains are still on."
In the deadliest single incident in Kenya, dozens of villagers were killed when a dam burst on Monday near Mai Mahiu in the Rift Valley, about 60 kilometres (40 miles) north of Nairobi.
The interior ministry said 52 bodies had been recovered and 51 people were still missing after the dam disaster.
- Travel warnings -
Opposition politicians and lobby groups have accused Ruto's government of being unprepared and slow to respond to the crisis despite weather warnings.
"Kenya's government has a human rights obligation to prevent foreseeable harm from climate change and extreme weather events and to protect people when a disaster strikes," Human Rights Watch said Thursday.
The United States and Britain have issued travel warnings for Kenya, urging their nationals to be cautious amid the extreme weather.
The devastation has sparked an outpouring of condolences and pledges of solidarity from all over the world, including from Pope Francis and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The rains have been amplified by the El Nino weather pattern -- a naturally occurring climate phenomenon typically associated with increased heat worldwide, leading to drought in some parts of the world and heavy downpours elsewhere.

The Opposition is calling for heads to roll over the decision not to require a former immigration detainee to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet.
Event organisers for the latest music festival to be canned have blamed a hike in costs from police and the health department.
A teen has been arrested after allegedly making threats while armed with a machete, just hours after a shopping centre was plunged into lockdown.
