From Bella Hadid to Rihanna, This Luxury Bag Is a Calling Card of Wealthy Celebs

If you've ever spotted a beautiful leather bag with a barely visible logo and intricate interlocking pattern, then Goyard's designer handbags  are already on your radar. Leather bags from this 200-year-old  Parisian luxury brand are coveted by fashion lovers because it is the holy grail of opulent accessories: instantly recognizable yet difficult to attain. And that's 100% intentional.

The Goyard company is notoriously mysterious. Its business is built primarily on word of mouth and referrals. It doesn't advertise, and there are only a handful of brick-and-mortar stores in the whole world. It is this elusiveness that has attracted celebrities , royalty, and fashion die-hards for years. And it has worked for centuries. 

The Goyard we know today evolved from the original designs of boxes and trunks by craftsman Pierre-François Martin, one of the master trunk makers of the era. The first member of the Goyard family joined the business in 1845 as an apprentice, and years later, Edmond Goyard opened what would be Goyard's iconic boutique on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris.

As of the 1990s, the Goyard brand has become an internationally recognizable brand while still managing to retain the high-quality craftsmanship, beauty, and exclusivity that made Goyard items desirable more than a century earlier. And its exclusivity is still a significant part of the Goyard mystique.

How much is a Goyard bag?

When shopping retail, Goyard bags can range from $500 for smaller styles to over $1000 for larger bags. Prices also vary by color and print. For example, a basic tote in black or tan will be less expensive than the same design in green, blue, or yellow. 

Of course, custom-made handbags get even pricier and can cost over $5000 depending on the bag style, color, material, and embellishments desired.

If you're in the market to buy a Goyard bag secondhand, you should not expect to find a deal. A simple black Saint Louis tote can range from $1200 to $4000, depending on the condition of the bag.

And beware of fakes: Any sizable Goyard bag costing less than $1000 on the resale market may not be properly authenticated.

Is it worth it to buy a Goyard bag?

Goyard bags are prized in part for their exclusivity. And because they can only be purchased at certain places, they tend to be priced even higher when sold secondhand. So as far as an investment bag goes, it's a pretty safe bet as long as you take care of it. 

That said, determining the value of a bag is different for merchants and buyers. While the quality construction and materials used in Goyard bags are superb, it's also important to consider other factors: How often will you wear the bag? Will the color work with the rest of your wardrobe? Does this particular style feel timeless to you? 

Also, higher-end bags that tend to be custom creations can also be of different value to the buyer and seller, particularly on the secondhand market. Does the bag have personal details that are meaningful, such as a monogram, or other embellishments? Rare bags that are unique but not overly personalized tend to carry the highest value in the resale market but may be priceless to their owners. 

So while we say yes, it is worthwhile to buy a Goyard bag, ultimately, the decision is a personal one that must factor in material, design, price, color, and utility. Hopefully, any bag purchased will be enjoyed and admired no matter the final cost.

Can you purchase Goyard online?

The short answer is no, you cannot purchase a Goyard bag directly from the retailer online. In fact, the Goyard website does not disclose any prices, and it is nearly impossible to find current retail figures for any of the bags elsewhere online. 

The longer answer involves searching for the specific bag you want at a specialty boutique, premium department store, or reputable reseller. Again, these options can be limited to just a few items or styles and can often only be purchased in person. 

Fortunately, there are a handful of Goyard stores in the United States, including in New York City, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Beverly Hills. Each store will offer a different selection of bags and only carry certain designs or colors. If you go to Goyard's Paris boutique, however, you may find exactly what you're looking for—or at least find out the latest retail price.

Woman dies after being 'entangled' in baggage carousel at Chicago O'Hare

A woman died in the baggage claim area of Chicago O'Hare International Airport early Thursday morning, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to reports of someone "pinned in machinery" in Terminal 5, used mainly by international airlines, at around 8 a.m., according to ABC News . The woman was found "entangled in the conveyor belt system used to move baggage," according to officials.

The Chicago Fire Department did not immediately respond to USA TODAY for comment.

Air travelers sue CrowdStrike: Travelers were refused refunds by Delta after massive computer outage disrupts flights

The adult woman was found unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene, CPD said. The woman's identity has not been released as of Thursday afternoon.

The cause of death is currently unknown, but CPD said an autopsy and investigation are being conducted.

Everything Worth Buying During Ban.do’s Warehouse Sale

Maximalists, rejoice: Ban.do is offering up to 80 percent off during its warehouse sale , which ends on August 16. Like the retailer’s general inventory, the discounted items are all remarkably colorful and often delightfully patterned. (Is anyone looking for a floral travel pillow? It’s in here, deeply marked down.) I sifted through the 20 pages of stock to find all the very best deals on everything from back-to-school essentials to statement fashion pieces to pool accessories. And for your convenience, I grouped all the deals by category.

It wouldn’t be a Ban.do sale without plenty of deals on bags from Baggu. I chose a few of my favorites, starting with a classic: the nylon shoulder bag. The machine-washable purse is big enough to hold a 14-inch laptop.

There’s also one of our favorite fanny packs , Baggu’s surprisingly roomy hands-free bag. This one has two separate zipper pockets, but there’s an even more affordable one if you’re willing to sacrifice on storage space.

My last Baggu pick is this floral tote that’s made from cotton canvas. It’s sturdy and perfect for coffee runs and lounging in the park.

We rarely see Baboon to the Moon on sale, so I was delighted to find this colorful fanny pack hidden within the sale for more than 20 percent off. It’s big enough to carry all your essentials — wallet, sunglasses, keys, and more — and comes with a lifetime warranty.

In signature Ban.do style, this travel pillow is covered in a variety of flowers that will pop next to your carry-on bag .

Back-to-school essentials

We’ve long loved Ban.do for its colorful back-to-school essentials, and I was especially taken by this notebook, which has wide lines for writing and a spot for the date. But we’re not the only fans — singer and actress Brandy loves using this mini-notebook for journaling, too.

If you haven’t found the right lunch box yet, consider this hot-pink one. It has an insulated interior and a charming yellow strap for easy carrying.

I also found this heavily discounted backpack from Vans. It has everything you might want in a backpack — including two water-bottle pockets, a laptop sleeve, and plenty of pockets for organization.

If you prefer a soft shower caddy over a hard one, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a cuter one than this.

My sister gave me this tumbler as a gift when I was in college, and it was perfect for taking my iced coffee from class to class.

Women’s clothing

Like Baggu, Farm Rio is showing up and showing out during Ban.do’s warehouse sale. These baby-blue pants, which are 100 percent linen, have a colorful belt that will pair nicely with a white blouse.

This jewel-toned maxi-dress caught my eye, too. With its subtle scalloped detailing and 100 percent cotton construction, the dress is tempting me a bit too much.

There’s also this fruit-speckled midi-dress that has a boxy cut-out back. (Just note: It’s even cheaper on Farm Rio’s website in some sizes.)

This pair of Vans is one of the best items I found hidden in the treasure trove that is Ban.do’s warehouse sale. Ben Van Leeuwen calls them a “cross between Vans and a big, bulky shoe” and says he can easily walk ten miles in them.

These pastel overalls would make for a fun summer-to-fall transition piece. They’d look cute paired with a long-sleeve shirt in the fall and your favorite summertime tank during warmer months.

Speaking of that summertime tank …

These dainty mules, which are discounted in both a shiny metallic and a muted clay, will let your feet breathe while temperatures fluctuate well into the fall.

I like the ruffled detailing on this pastel cami. It’s made from a blend of cotton and linen and has a matching skirt if sets are your thing.

You can usually find some stellar deals on Wrangler denim during Ban.do’s sale events. This time, these dark-wash cropped jeans caught my attention. They’ve got that coveted wide-leg fit that Gen-Z girls love nowadays.

I also spotted these Wrangler overalls, which were one of my favorite discounted items during Ban.do’s Prime Day–adjacent sale .

With summer nearing its final days, there are plenty of deals on pool accessories that’ll be just as fun when next summer comes around. First up, there’s this mini-hammock made for lounging in the pool.

I also love this flamingo-shaped floatie.

Finally, I couldn’t resist this strawberry-shaped float that’s perfect for lounging.

For those who prefer lounging next to the pool, there’s this colorful Jenga -esque tower that measures about a foot and a half.

And finally, this sourdough-bread-making kit that includes everything you need to make a sourdough starter and shape your very own loaf. My sourdough starter recently died, so I take this deal as an excuse to nurture a new one.
