kuoni kenya and tanzania safari

Our plan so far:

1st part: Kenya

2 nights in Nairobi

2 nights at Hell's Gate (for cycling and walking, possibly Lake Naivasha , Mount Longonot)

2 nights at Lake Nakuru , including a hike to Menengai Crater

2-3 nights Safari

3 nights at Lamu Old Town (travel by plane )

2nd part: Tanzania

3 nights at Moshi (Materuni Falls, coffee tour, day trek to Kilimanjaro)

2 nights at Ngorongoro

4 nights at Zanzibar

For safari destinations, we are considering:

Masai Mara (river crossing)

Amboseli (Kilimanjaro views, Observation Hill)

Arusha (Mount Meru hike?, Masai Market visit)

Serengeti (river crossing)

Tarangire (heard it’s a less expensive park with good wildlife?)

Lake Manyara (hippo spotting and boat ride)

We've read that conservancies like Lewa or Ol Pejeta Conservancy are the best, but they seem out of budget for now.

Also, we want to experience Masai culture, possibly staying at a Masai boma, but most options seem like tourist traps. Can anyone recommend a better experience? Are there community-run initiatives that provide an authentic experience and benefit the local community?

We're interested in villages like Mto wa Mbu, Usambara Mountains hike, Bagamoyo, Mombasa , but these seem far out of the way and may be best kept for a future trip.

For the safari days, we have around $2800 USD per person for 8-10 nights (accommodation, guide, vehicle, park entry fees, food.)

We're okay with basic camps, for example: https://www.booking.com/hotel/ke/rhino-tourist-camp

Suggestions are welcome.

kuoni kenya and tanzania safari

We are looking at Kuoni safaris. Which would be the best option? We want to see plenty of different animals and spends as much time doing that as possible. It has to be Kuoni due to having gift vouchers.

Taste of Kenya - 6 nights. Nairobi 1 night, Lake Navasha 2 nights, Massai Mara 2 nights.

Big 5 Safari 6 nights - Nairobi 1 night, Tsavo West 2 nights, Amboseli 2 nights.

Other option is Tanzania- Taste of Tanzania 7 nights. Arusha 1 night, Lake Manyara 1 night, Serengeti 2 nights, Ngorongoro 1 night.

Why pick kuoni whom are very expensive with fixed itinerary and you can pick local companies and customise your itinerary as per your interest🤔🤔.

Option 2 looks fine but with six days would try take 3nights in Masai Mara at any cost, We picked 3nights and I felt like we were rushed though my local agent advices this before 🧐.

<< We want to see plenty of different animals and spends as much time doing that as possible. >>

Mara (3N) & Naivasha /Nakuru(2N) would work well.

Since you have Kuoni Gift Voucher try to extend Option 2 for an extra night thereby allowing you a full days game drive in Nakuru to see Rhinos + other herbivores.

Looking at Kuoni due to gift voucher. Thanks for the feedback so far.

We took the same cheetah safari many years ago (16) and found we spent a lot of time travelling but we got to see some great scenery, mountains, lakes and the vast plains. Out of the options you have this would be the one i would choose
