What other guests say about our tours and locals
Excellent tasting tour in Catania
"Our amazing guide Agata took us around Catania to where the best foods to taste were. We learned a lot about Catania and about Sicilian food. Agata is a very knowledgeable and enjoyable guide, and the tastings we're delicious! Highly recommend this tour!"
Nice person but not a guide
"Guiseppe was a pleasant and friendly person but he’s not a guide. He didn’t have a plan on what to do and despite being a catanian didn’t seem to know much about history. He needs to be more prepared and improve his tour guiding skills. "
Interesting relaxed tour of Catania
"Carla is a well-informed and kind guide. She made the tour of Catania very enjoyable and interesting. She knew a lot about the local history and cuisine. I highly recommend her for any tour of Catania you might consider."
"Carla was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. Taught us so much about Catania! Getting to eat lovely food made the trip much more relaxing. Would recommend "
Great Food Tour!
"Carla was a great tour guide having us taste all kinds of traditional Sicilian food and mixing in the history of Catania. We enjoyed our food tour and would recommend to anyone wanting to try a bit of everything. "
Like Touring with A Friend
"We really enjoyed our time with Carla, with whom we found to be personable, knowledgeable about Catania’s history and very easy going. We learned some neat facts about the churches, Sicilian legends and historical monuments that we otherwise may not have known about. She also took us to two local spots where we could get a beverage/dessert and take a break from the outside heat. My husband and I don’t speak Italian and don’t know Catania well at all, so it was nice to take a break from navigating the streets and the language and following Carla’s lead. We would gladly pick Carla as our guide again when we return to Catania. "
Lovely and DELICIOUS afternoon in Catania
"Our family of 3 (including a child, age 6) thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with Maria Grazia in Catania! She was very friendly and was extremely knowledgable about about Sicilian/Catanian history and about all the local food and drinks! She also did a great job adapting our private tour, both for our personal travel parameters AND due to some establishment closures due to our tour being on a national holiday :) Her food tour was absolutely fantastic. Go hungry, or else you won't be able to enjoy everything on offer!"
Langs 'verborgen' kanten in Catania
An amazing experience
"We had booked a food tour through Catania with Agata and it was simply wonderful. Not only did we get to try different types of local food and drinks. Agata also gave us insights on the history of Catania and Sicily, as well as loads of interesting details about the way of living, the culture, etc. We can highly recommend a tour with Agata. "
Agata gives an awesome tour!!!
"I highly recommend using tour companies operated by locals. Withlocals.com is the perfect choice! Once you choose your city, you have an opportunity to choose between several guides by reading their background and interests. We used Withlocals in three different Sicilian cities and were never disappointed. Our tour guide in Catania was Agata and she was delightful, informative and fun. We did a Ten Tastings tour with her. Agata intertwined the city’s culture and history so that it was much more than only tasting the food! As she guided us across different piazzas, strolled through the fish market (what a fun experience) and to the castle, we learned quite a bit. It was feast for all our senses. At the end of the tour and because my cousin is an opera aficionado, she even sang the opening bars from “Casta Diva” (from the opera Norma) for us in the middle of a piazza!!! Choose Agata for your tour guide!!!"

1. Cathedral of Saint Agatha
In the vibrant center of Catania, you’ll find the stunning Cattedrale di Sant’Agata. This grand cathedral serves as the heart of the city. Inside, you’ll be greeted by a blend of luxurious designs. Though the cathedral’s main hall is rather subdued, the apse and side chapels are covered in beautiful paintings and details. Besides its beautiful architecture, the cathedral has a special meaning to the city as it’s where the patron saint of Catania met her martyrdom.

The best wine tours from Catania, Sicily – Mount Etna wine tastings
Catania is one of the most underrated Italian cities. Located in eastern Sicily, in the shadow of Mount Etna, its fate is sealed by volcanic eruptions. However, Catania’s proximity to Etna also translates to a unique soil. The volcano’s presence and taste forever mark the area’s wine production. Therefore, if you are exploring this side of Sicily, join one or more wine tours from Catania and discover the region’s smoky wines.
The Mount Etna eruptions enrich the soil in unique ways, and that’s why the area produces some of the best wines worldwide. Growing grapes and making wine -red and white- on the slopes of Mount Etna results in delicious wine that you can’t taste elsewhere in Europe. The Etna DOC is the oldest in Sicily and among the oldest in Italy. The red Etna Rosso is the most famous wine in the region, usually made of the Nerello Mascalese grape variety (80%) and up to 20% of Nerello Cappuccio grapes.
So, in this article, you will find the best wine tastings in Catania , together with info and prices. I preferred to split this article into two sections. The first section is dedicated to people willing to taste as much Sicilian wine as possible. That said, the sightseeing part is less present in these tours. On the other hand, if you are more into exploring the region and sipping an occasional glass of wine, the second section is more for you.
So, let’s start with the best Catania wine tastings and what to expect from them.

The best wine tours from Catania for wine lovers
As I stated above, in this section, you will find Catania wine tours dealing exclusively with wine tastings in various wineries. While you will see some of Sicily’s landscape, you probably won’t have much time to explore the area. The goal is to taste as much Etna wine as possible and get a complete overview of its unique taste.

The second section of this travel guide to the best wine-tasting tours from Catania is all about exploring the region. Your guide will share plenty of facts about the movie, and after the tour’s end, you can choose to have dinner at a local restaurant, including a delicious Sicilian wine tasting .
After a long day out and about, your guide will drive you back to your hotel in Catania. That’s a fantastic tour, and it’s also a private one.

The latter means you’ll have to ride a cable car, and a 4×4 vehicle will bring you up to 2,900 meters at Torre del Filosofo.
Then, together with your guide, you’ll explore a lava cave, and at the tour’s end, you’ll stop at a winery for tasting, including one sparkling and four still wines. A light meal is included, and afterward, the guide will drive you back to your accommodation in Catania.

While the exploration of Mount Etna and Taormina is at the heart of this tour, this doesn’t mean that there’s not some wine included. On the contrary, after a tiring day walking on Etna’s slopes and before strolling through Taormina’s streets, you’ll stop at a restaurant for a quick lunch and wine tasting. Then, after concluding your Taormina wine tour and spending time in the city, the tour guide will drive you back to Catania.

SERVONO I SUPPLEMENTARI
