Skandagiri , also known as  Kalavara Durga , is a mountain fortress located approximately 62 km from Bangalore city, and 3 km from Chikballapur in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is off Bellary Road (National Highway 7 Hyderabad-Bangalore Highway) and overlooks Nandi Hills and Muddenahalli. The peak is at an altitude of about 1450 meters. It is accessed from  Kalavara village, which has a population of 1093 according to the 2011 census.

As this is a budget trip, we expect our travelers to coordinate with the Trip Guide from Tripbae, and the Trip Guide’s decisions will be final.

Day 0 - Departure from Bengaluru

Meet at the designated starting point in Bengaluru and travel to Skandagiri by private transportation

Note: -For a group of 10-11, a 12-seater Tempo Traveler will be provided -For a group of 20, a 22-seater Mini Bus will be allocated -For a group of 30, a 30-seater bus will be supplied -The pick-up points don't change but the timings are tentative. 

Day 1 - Ascending the trail!

▪️ 02:00 AM: Arrive at the base of the hill for a short rest or a leisurely walk under the star-lit skies ▪️ 03:45 AM: Begin the trek after a brief orientation from the guides ▪️ 05:30 AM: Arrive at the summit to take in the stunning sunrise amidst the clouds ▪️ 07:00 AM: Start the descent from the hill ▪️ 09:00 AM: Return to the base and commence the journey back to Bangalore ▪️ 09:30 AM: En route to Bangalore, visit the Bhoga Nandishwara Temple ▪️ 10:30 AM: Take a break to refresh and enjoy a self-funded breakfast ▪️ 12:00 PM: Reach back to Bangalore with the drop-off points being the same as the pick-up locations

Please bear in mind that this itinerary is subject to change based on weather conditions and other variables. Furthermore, the timings provided are approximate and could vary depending on the group's pace.

When can i expect further updates after booking the trek.

Typically, our treks are confirmed by Thursday, and a email, containing important information such as pickup locations (site and timings), the point of contact (outdoor leader), and a list of do's and don'ts, is sent out. Furthermore, you'll be included in a WhatsApp group for continual updates regarding the trek.

Are solo travelers allowed to join?

Yes, solo travelers are more than welcome on our trips. The beauty of solo travel lies in the chance to connect with individuals from varied backgrounds. As the journey unfolds, unfamiliar faces become friends, cultivating a feeling of fellowship. Thus, we strongly encourage solo travelers to join our exciting ventures.

Is it safe for females?

The safety and security of women/girls are paramount to us. Hence, it's entirely safe for women/girls to participate in our treks and travels. Our trek leaders always accompany the group, offering constant assistance and direction. Our camp sites are thoroughly secure and provide a safe lodging environment. In addition, our female trek leaders often join our treks.

What does the "Without Transportation" option signify during the booking process?

Selecting the "Without Transportations" option implies that you will be arranging all your travel needs for the complete itinerary. The Tripbae team will not handle any facet of your transportation. We suggest the use of a car for a hassle-free journey to, from, and around the destination.

Can I reschedule my trek to a future date if I am unable to attend on the day of departure?

Unfortunately, it's not feasible to reschedule your trek to a future date if you're unable to attend on the designated day, regardless of the circumstances (like family emergencies, health problems, or work commitments). I've never hiked before. Can I participate in this one?

Absolutely! The Skandagiri trek is an easy -moderate one. It's suitable for all genders and even physically fit children. You can definitely join this trek without any issue.

Is the trail infested with leeches?

No, the trail is not riddled with leeches.

When is the optimal time for the Skandagiri Sunrise Trek?

The most favorable time to embark on the Skandagiri Sunrise Trek is from September to February. During heavy monsoons, the trail becomes muddy and slippery, complicating the descent, while the summers bring high humidity levels.

Are food and water provided during the Skandagiri Trek?

There are no food or drink provisions on the trek; it's necessary for you to bring your own. It's advised to carry two to three liters of water for this hike. In terms of food, consider bringing packed items like fresh fruits, dry snacks, energy bars, and cakes while avoiding hot and salty foods.
