Helping children overcome poverty.

For real. For good. Since 1990.

OUR FOCUS .

Belize Mission Trip, mission trips to belize, belize mission project

The Local Church

Dr. Paul Whisnant and our Missionaries have started and/or built 54 local Churches throughout Belize. Every week, thousands come to hear the Message of Jesus.

International Servants

Children Come First

We focus on helping children overcome poverty - for good. From our Feed-A-Child Centers to our Medical Clinics, the children always come first.

International Servants

Every day there are children going hungry in our villages. Many kids are severely malnourished. That's why we started our Feed-A-Child program - to stop this crisis.

Amanda Whisnant, Belize Mission Trip, mission trips to belize, belize mission project

Medical Care

Every year, our Medical Mission treats thousands of children & families who have little-to-no access to medical care, nor the money to buy critical medicine.

iservants

Education is the key to stopping the cycle of poverty for the next generation of children. That's why we've built schools in villages that had never had a school.

iServants

Stop Human Trafficking

A child suffering from hunger, violence, disease, and poverty is far more likely to become a victim of sex or human trafficking. Your gifts help to stop this.

Hear from one of our Board Members

You'll love hearing Dr. Steve Stewart's heart for God's missionary work here in Belize as he shares how you can help children in need - in Jesus' name - by praying, giving, and going.

PLEASE NOTE: IMMERSION Staff will be out of office Sept. 11-15. After submitting a form, use the link in your email to schedule a call for Sept. 18-22!

Join an international mission trip to  Belize  and come alongside a network of Spanish-speaking churches who are actively bringing the gospel to their communities. Belize mission trips give your team the opportunity to interact with hundreds of immigrants from neighboring countries—providing a truly unique experience as you serve alongside an eclectic mix of people from Latin American, Afro-Caribbean, and Mayan cultures. Although English is the official language in Belize, you may want to brush up on your Spanish ahead of time!

Whether you’re a youth group, college students, family, or group of adults, short-term mission trips to Belize give you the chance to partner with local church leaders to complete building projects while also reaching out to local kids through Kids Club programs. You’ll serve alongside fellow Christians who are thriving in small towns amidst vast expanses of jungle and be able to encourage them to continue reaching their neighbors.

Will your team be a part of the story God is telling through the local church in Belize on a 2024 mission trip?

Details & Logistics

Activities & opportunities, work projects.

You will be working in partnership with the Family of God Church, and your projects will be construction-oriented with a focus on assisting the church and/or local families. You have the opportunity to work alongside community members and show God's love through serving with them.

Outreach Ministry

Due to the unique nature of this community, the opportunity for relational ministry may take place directly at your team's worksite as you come alongside and encourage those you have come to serve. There may be additional opportunities to serve in various types of people ministry if the need arises. These types of ministry could include things like visiting the elderly, gardening, and cleaning.

Children's Ministry

In this community, connecting with the local children through children's ministry is an important part of what we do each day. Teams coming to this community must expect to participate in Kids Club. Experience Mission will provide the curriculum for your team's use. This Kids Club curriculum will be sent out to Team Leaders in the spring via email. Your team may be asked to participate in multiple Kids Club programs and avenues of ministering to children.

Teams will be responsible to bring the craft supplies needed for their specific crafts and should budget appropriately. While we do our best to make sure the craft materials are cost-effective, teams may feel free to augment any materials to make them more suitable for their budget. Experience Mission will supply scissors, staplers, and paper hole punches. There are plenty of opportunities to connect with local children through games like soccer or Frisbee. Tuck in a hacky sack, football, or jump rope as they are sure to come in handy.

* Experience Mission works closely with local leaders to identify work projects and ministry opportunities that address authentic needs within the community. We ask that you come with a servant's heart and willingness to adapt to the unique qualities represented in each location. Opportunities can vary significantly from one week to the next. Your team may work at one location or serve at multiple locations each day. Due to the changing needs of our community partners, we cannot confirm your specific activities until your team arrives.

Spring Break Trips

Due to staffing limitations and varying school schedules in our community locations, Kids Club and Evening Gathering are not offered during spring break trips. We do encourage teams to come prepared to spend some casual free time with the local children playing games etc. Teams should plan to prepare their own worship and devotional materials for trips from January-May.

Community Profile

With a total population of just 300,000 people, Belize is the most sparsely populated country in Central America and among the least densely populated in the world. While English is the only official language in Belize, the country has attracted thousands of immigrants from neighboring Spanish-speaking countries, leaving it with an eclectic mix of Latin American, Afro-Caribbean, and Mayan cultures.

Residents live in towns set amid vast expanses of jungle, where you'll have the opportunity to work alongside fellow believers and community members who will warm your heart with their dedication and love.

Teams going to Belize may go to one of several different community locations. Experience Mission works closely with The Family of God Church network. This network of churches expands throughout the entire country of Belize. There are many communities within the country that have a need and desire for teams to come. The churches will decide where the need is strongest and we will notify your team leader then where your team will be serving.

Typical Schedule

Below is a basic schedule for the week, but we approach this with flexibility because our ultimate focus is on relationships.

Each morning, there is time set aside for devotions and quiet time. This is a valuable time and we strongly encourage all team members to spend it with God, journaling their thoughts and experiences as the days unfold. EM will provide a physical or printable devotional journal.

Day One 3:00-6:00 pm Groups Arrive 5:00 - Leader's Meeting 6:00 - Dinner 7:00 - Orientation Meeting 8:30 - Team Time (a time for your group alone) 11:30 - Lights Out Days Two through Six 7:15 - Breakfast 7:45 - Devotions and Quiet Time 8:15 - Group Prayer 8:30 - Teams leave for Sites 12:00 - Lunch 3:30 - Finish Work for the day 4:00 - Break and Clean-up 5:00 - Leaders meeting 6:00 - Dinner 7:00 - Evening program (as a whole group) 8:30 - Team time Day Seven 7:00 - Breakfast 7:30 - Cleanup/ Packing 9:00 - Pictures and Good-Byes

Lodging, Food & Transportation

Your team will be staying at a local church. Showers will be available, but they may be outdoor, makeshift stalls with cold water.

Food will be prepared by EM staff and volunteers from the local church. You will have the opportunity to eat ample amounts of delicious Belizean dishes. There will be purified water at the church and at the worksites.

Due to a limited variety of foods available in Belize EM can not accommodate any nut allergies. Please inquire with an EM staff member for more details. EM's Food Policy

Belize Country Overview

Please send me more information.

Our partners in belize.

Belize is a small country, and we cover a lot of ground there. Thanks to our partners in five different parts of the country, we can bring relief to people in the surrounding communities. From building chicken coops and restoring playgrounds to providing medical clinics and providing food to those in need, each location has unique goals. When you take a Belize mission trip, you can be a part of the work in these locations.

Bold Hope trips to Belize allow you to meet new people as well as connect with and empower them. We also recognize the personal impact that can come from visiting a new culture and stepping outside of your bubble. Whether you're helping to construct a school or serving children their meals, your work will change you just as much as it impacts those you're helping.

Belize Missions Opportunities

Our trips happen all year, so your church group or family can schedule a time that works best. These are also short-term trips for a week — that's only one week of your life dedicated to helping those in need living in Belize. Our Bold Hope team members will help you get adjusted and engage with the surrounding communities.

See the map below to learn where our partners are located in Belize.

Our Partners:

San antonio, silva family, lenço family, bullet tree, what do we do in belize.

Almost half of Belize's population lives below the national poverty line , which makes our work even more important. Churches and ministries across the country can take on a Belize mission project with one of our in-country partners to help make an impact. For example, some of our partners have opened their church doors to the villages in the surrounding areas to give people the HOPE they need. Other partners have worked with schools or established youth ministry programs.

Each of our partners does as much as they can with the time, energy and resources they have available. Keep reading to learn more about how every one makes a difference in their location.

Located in the western mountains of the Cayo district is the beautiful Mayan & Hispanic village of San Antonio. San Antonio is mainly a farming village; it produces most, if not all, of the peanuts consumed in Belize! San Antonio saw a mighty revival a couple of years ago, and since then seven Pentecostal churches have kept the flame lit for the village. These seven churches formed a small association in the village from which the Pentecostal Primary School was born. They are now aspiring to start a high school, as the village does not have one. The Christian churches in San Antonio stand united to work to accomplish tasks great and small for its children and adults. San Antonio welcomes any type of aid from the outside as long as it is in the best interest of their community members.

Sarteneja is a primarily Hispanic community on the rural northern coast of Belize. It is a united village that survives mainly from tourism and fishing; it is Belize’s largest fishing community. The church in Sarteneja is very passionate about reaching the lost and helping people discover true meaning for their lives. Pastor Rodriguez is a humble man with a genuine heart to see the church be a means of inspiring HOPE in their community. He serves among a group of committed believers who dedicate their time, effort and energy to see the village of Sarteneja revived for God’s glory.

Georgetown is located in the Stann Creek region of Belize, approximately 45 miles southeast of Belmopan, the country’s capital city. Many of those living in Georgetown are “Garifuna” - a mixed people of free African and Amerindian ancestry originating in the Caribbean. The Garifuna have their own language, but also understand and speak English.

We are a family who loves to see and be a part of the transformation that the gospel can bring to the lives and communities where it is present. Natasha is graduated in Media and also a specialist in Missiology. Jonatas holds degrees in Business Administration and Theology, a specialist in Missiology, and another major in Humanitarian Aid. João is 8 years old and likes to play soccer, basketball, card games and to read the bible. Gabriel is 5 years old and he also likes basketball, football, to play Uno and to go to school. Originally from Brazil, we are a missionary family focused on cross-cultural ministry, working since 2010 with missions worldwide. Read more about the Silva Family Here

  • Meet Daniel: Daniel is the creative force within our family. As a photographer and videomaker, he captures the beauty of what God is doing and the stories of the people we encounter. His lens reflects our mission, revealing the transformative work taking place in Belize.
  • Meet Mariana:   Mari is the heart of our family, and her profession as a pharmacist reflects her passion for the well-being of others. Her dedication extends to the communities we serve, where she brings boundless compassion.
  • Meet Matheus: Our little bundle of joy, Matheus, arrived in April 2022, filling our lives with laughter and love. He's our reminder of God's goodness, the preciousness of life, and the future we're building.

Maya Mopan is a Mayan community located in the south of Belize (Stann Creek District), about a 3-hour drive from the airport. Its population is about 600 people. Residents speak Mayan, English and Spanish. Half of the community makes their living with self-sustaining agriculture. The other half work in tourism and construction or as government officials.

Cristo Ray is a Hispanic village located near the Macal River and is approximately 10-15 minutes from San Antonio village. A small town of 2500, many of its residents are refugees from neighboring Central American countries, making Spanish the primary language spoken in the area with some English spoken as well. Most residents work in resorts that surround the village.

Bullitree is a village located in the west of Belize Cayo district, alongside the majestic Mopan river. It's a 5 min drive from the twin towns known as San Ignacio and Santa Elena. The culture is a mix of Mestizo, Maya , and Creole. The population is 2,000 people, most of the whom are in the tourism industry.

Belize Hope Initiatives

HOPE initiatives in Belize aim to inspire HOPE in the entire community through various projects and programs that our local and missionary partners have undertaken. Bold Hope focuses on coming alongside the long-term vision of these faithful men and women by providing financial support as well as encouragement in the form of short-term teams.

Development

Educational Programs

Educational Programs

Belize provides the unique opportunity for teams to go into public schools and present the gospel through skits, music, crafts, etc. We encourage teachers by praying for them, helping with lesson prep work, and doing whatever else they may need. Belizean teachers are talented, intelligent individuals who may benefit from additional training on a variety of topics. Current and retired teachers can use their expertise to pour into the lives of these dedicated men and women.

Medical Care

Medical Care

Belize is a largely rural nation whose population is rather spread out. Our medical teams provide care in communities where access is limited or unaffordable; sometimes even conducting home visits for those who are shut in. For families who find medical care beyond their means, teams who come with donations of medicine and supplies are greatly appreciated. Bold Hope also seeks to educate the community on general health or sanitation and offer specific training on topics like first aid.

Community Outreach

Community Outreach

Our local ministry partners make building lasting relationships a priority. Much of what is considered “community outreach” is simply having fun with the locals. When their kids are engaged in soccer, jump rope, tag, etc. parents enjoy coming out to watch, which leads to openings for conversation and gospel presentations. Soccer is the most widely played sport in Belize, however cricket, basketball, netball and volleyball are also popular. Sports ministry is a great way to develop relationships within a community, no matter what the ages. Are you a skilled athlete? We would love to set up a sports clinic to train athletes in Belize.

Community Development

Community Development

Missionaries/pastors and school administrators often don’t have the budget for repairs or updates. Our teams are able to contribute to the ongoing upkeep of a mission site, church, or school, or help with bigger projects as needed. Similarly, there are often many needs within a community that are unable to be completed due to lack of finances or labor. Teams commonly provide both. Bus stops, basketball courts or playgrounds add value and  impact many within a community.

Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry

Children are a big focus of the ministry in Belize. Depending on the time of year, teams may have the opportunity to go into a local school (or schools) and present the gospel through skits, music, crafts, etc. During the summer, our local ministry partners run camps where teams are able to build relationships with the same kids all week. Whether ministering to kids at school or at camp, it’s important to help meet their physical needs as well as their spiritual needs. Making sure they get to eat lunch all week is a huge blessing. Teams may do things such as prepare the food, serve the meal, and clean up afterwards.

Church Partnerships

Church Partnerships

Church programs such as Bible studies, worship nights, and outreach events are a great way to initiate a connection with the people of Belize. Long-term relationships tend to make the biggest impact on individuals’ lives; discipleship and mentorship play a significant role in seeing lives transformed for Jesus Christ. We believe strongly in the power of prayer, and encourage teams to get to know more about the community by walking through the villages and praying over the homes and people there. We do all of this in support of the local church. Another way we come alongside these congregations to see their visions furthered is through pastor/leadership training.

Why Partner With Bold Hope?

Bold Hope offers mission trips to help people foster connections with others in the world. However, we facilitate more than precious connections and rewarding experiences. Many organizations are unable to provide comfortable accommodations to volunteer groups. At Bold Hope, we ensure our mission trip opportunities are comfortable with secure accommodations, access to amenities and reliable resources. We place our groups in hotels, offer three meals a day and have a staff member available at all times.

We understand that traveling to a new country is an exciting and scary experience. That's why we provide as much assistance to your group as we can, so you can focus on helping those in Belize. With the proper accommodations and amenities, you can bring your entire family or church group on one of our Belize mission trips .

Why a trip to Belize ?

Belize mission trips.

Belize is the perfect place for new and experienced short term mission workers! For beginners, it's close to the States (and Canada!) and the native language is English.

You experience a very different culture but with some familiarity and not such a culture shock as going 7,000 miles from home and not knowing the language. Plus being so close to home makes that first trip a little easier on the wallet !

For the more experienced traveler there is still a lot of adventure to be had on a trip to Belize. Our facility is in the heart of the mission field and close to everything you could want to do Building projects, sports ministry, VBS, remote village outreach, helping at orphanages...No matter how your team would like to serve there is a good chance we know a ministry that could use your help !

Humbly we recognize that we can't do it on our own and that God calls people to help in different ways. If you wish to help financially, please send us an e-mail and we will respond promptly. Prayers are always much appreciated too!

Mission Trips to the ”Extreme”

Bill Craver &  “Belize”

What is so interesting about Missionary Bill Craver and Belize is that his roots go deep. His father took him there when Belize was a British territory in 1977. Bill’s father became a Belizean citizen in the mid-90’s. While taking a fishing boat to Belize in 1979, Bill found a New Testament Bible under a bunk where he was sleeping and the Word’s of Jesus transformed his life. Bill and his wife Kathy built two missionary campuses in Belize, one on the east coast and another on the western region of Belize.

DCI’s Belize mission trips are called “Extreme Trips.” They are three regions of the world mission trips. On a DCI extreme mission trip you start: (1) Starting point west of Cancun in a Mayan city, (2) Travel to the Belize Islands where you conduct evangelism with the DCI team, (3) You travel back to the Mayan Missionary base where the team aids Mayan children. Three days are spent in each location.

Go.... where you never thought you would. / Do.... what you never thought you could. / Be.... what you always knew you should.

Bill Craver is your guide, who has years of experience leading teams. In the past, if you were a fan of the TV program “The Amazing Race” or the show “Survivor,” your team trip can be customized to be as extreme as you wish.

Improving quality of life for people in need is the outcome of a DCI mission trip. Your group will be able to bond not only with each other, but with the Mayan people you serve.

The Maya Yucatan and Belize areas have long been recognized as spectacular tourist destinations. However, there are many areas of the Maya Yucatan where people live in extreme poverty. By partnering with DCI, your team is in a relationship with an organization that has been making an impact on the ground for 31 years. Some of the ministry opportunities you may be involved in are construction and repair of homes, outreach programs for Mayan Children, and supporting local ministries through service efforts. You are needed, come and help make a lasting difference in the Mayan World.

Requirements: The cost for a 3 region of the world “Extreme Mission Trip”

The Length is 8 days, 7 Nights

You Must Have 12+ Members in your group

$1490 plus airfare to/from Cancun & $70 Border Crossing Fees

Extreme trips times are customizable to your schedule

A $1,000 per person non-refundable deposit at sign-up is required

Belize is an English-speaking country. Housing in Belize is in the volunteer houses in Punta Gorda. We will be serving in the parish community run by the Jesuits. The guest house has bunk beds and air conditioning, a rare treat for mission trips in Belize. Guys and ladies will have separate sleeping areas. There will also be an opportunity to meet the Pallottine sisters. Housing is along the Caribbean Sea, a perfect view for a morning sunrise & swim on the local dock.

Meals will be provided starting Monday evening when you arrive until you depart the following Saturday. The only meals that are not included are your free day meals. Breakfasts are generally hot, lunches are at the school, and dinners are always hot. If you have allergies, we can accommodate for that. Please indicate on the signup form. You will also get to experience meals with host families of the parish St. Peter Claver.

Work Projects

In Belize, we will be working in the community of Punta Gorda and the surrounding villages. Our current project is a construction project for the school of St. Peter Claver. Some of the kids from the school will be helping us as they are on summer break. The school’s PTA, principal, volunteers, and children will also be helping us reconstruct the school for their community. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, put your faith into action, and build relationships with our brothers and sisters in Belize!

Spiritual Formation

Each day we will have the gift to encounter Jesus in the Sacraments. Each day we will start with Daily Mass. At least one night there will be an Adoration Holy Hour and the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Expect daily community prayer, praise, and worship, and each night the CMT missionaries will share a testimony about God’s restoration in their lives towards mission. Each day after work projects, everyone will have about 2 hours of rest/personal time. Most explore in the local town or jump in the Gulf of Mexico after hard working in the sun all day! Bring your modest swim wear.

Community Free Day

Free day activities, meals, and transportation are not included in the mission trip price. Please budget $50-100 for your free day activity we will do as a group. Free day activities are encouraged, some options are visiting the keys, snorkeling, cave tubing, and visiting the Mayan ruins.

Pray for good weather. If we get rain, it’s possible that the outdoor projects will be canceled for the day. Catholic Mission Trips, Inc., will arrange an activity to engage in the corporal works of mercy with the poor.

$1,000 per person (Airfare not included.)

Travel Information
