Taylor Swift’s Eras era just got extended with new tour dates in the U.S. and Canada

Hang on to those friendship bracelets , Swifties; Taylor Swift is firmly staying in her Eras tour era through 2024.
The superstar on Thursday announced another expansion of her massive stadium tour, adding 15 dates in North America next year, including a long-awaited six-night stint in Canada.
“Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era Miami, New Orleans, Indy and Toronto: The Eras Tour is coming to you in 2024,” the “Anti-Hero” singer tweeted and posted on Instagram . Eras tour vet Gracie Abrams will join Swift for the new shows, which begin in mid-October of next year and run through November.
The Grammy winner kicks off her sold-out Los Angeles tour stop Thursday, with six shows planned at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood — her longest stay in a single city so far. Nearly half a million concertgoers are set to descend on SoFi, with additional shows set for Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Experts estimate the weeklong run could bring as much as $150 million in spending to the area, a welcome figure in a local economy struck by Hollywood’s writers’ and actors’ strikes and a hotel workers’ strike that could affect visitors.

The ultimate guide to seeing Taylor Swift at SoFi Stadium
Parking! Public transit! Fan chants! Friendship bracelets! Everything you need to know before you see Taylor Swift at SoFi Stadium for the L.A. stops of her Eras tour.
Aug. 4, 2023
The Aug. 9 show at SoFi was meant to close out the U.S. leg of the tour, but given Swift’s latest announcement, it will do so only for now. The hitmaker next jets off for shows in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe through August 2024.
The tour will return to the United States in October 2024 with three shows in Miami, three in New Orleans, three in Indianapolis and six in Toronto. The Rogers Centre shows in Canada appear to mark the end of the ever-expanding tour — also for now.
The popularity of the 33-year-old’s music, her marketing savvy and her understanding of the modern digital news cycle have kept her at the forefront of the cultural conversation since the tour launched in March. The 44-song setlist includes a “surprise song” each night and often a celebrity guest.
It’s a love story, L.A. just says yes: How Taylormania took over the world
Cultural dominance. History-making album sales. Sold-out stadiums. Add them up, and Taylor Swift’s current moment has little precedent in pop-music history.
Aug. 1, 2023
The record-breaking road tour, teeming with viral moments , has provided a financial jolt to nearly every city it has stopped in and a legitimate 2.3-magnitude earthquake in Seattle last week.
The “Shake It Off” singer’s tour is expected to rake in more than $1 billion by the time it wraps next year. It already has transformed the American concert business with its sheer scale and ravenous fan demand, The Times reported. When tickets went on sale in November, Ticketmaster famously crashed under the pressure of millions of would-be customers, spurring a congressional antitrust investigation into the ticketing platform’s parent company, Live Nation Entertainment.
Times music critic Mikael Wood and staff writer August Brown contributed to this report.

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour Is Already the Highest Grossing Rap Tour for a Woman — and…
Minaj announced plans for leg two of North America’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour on Wednesday (May 29), as the Queens rapper plots another roundtrip to Gag City this fall.
The Barbz will have their chance at pre-sale tickets starting on Thursday (May 30) on Ticketmaster with the code “social.” The rest of the tickets hit the general public market on Friday at 9 a.m. local show time.

The 22-date run will bring the Pink Friday 2 World Tour total to more than 80 shows, as she’s currently trekking across Europe.
The Pink Friday 2 World Tour is a record-breaking run, with Minaj now holding the title of the highest grossing rap tour by a woman. The trek is also in the top 10 for highest grossing rap tours of all-time. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore earlier in May, the Pink Friday 2 World Tour grossed $67 million and sold 439,000 tickets for the North American leg.
It’s been an eventful last week overseas for Nicki Minaj, who was arrested for allegedly carrying drugs in Amsterdam, which forced her to reschedule her Manchester concert for June.
She also made headlines while paying tribute to the late Princess Diana during her Birmingham, U.K., concert over the weekend, as she held a moment of silence for the Princess of Wales, who was killed in a 1997 car accident.

Here Are The Official Dates For Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday 2 World Tour" Second US Leg
Today (May 29), Nicki Minaj unveiled the official dates for the forthcoming second U.S. leg of her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour.” It’s expected to begin on Sept. 4 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, followed by stops in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Birmingham, Dallas, and Los Angeles, to name a few cities.
Notably, the artist is scheduled to return to Madison Square Garden in NYC on Sept. 7. In March, she reportedly became the first female rapper to headline a sold-out show at the venue. Moreover, the upcoming arena run is slated to conclude with another concert in New York. Minaj will perform at the UBS Arena in her hometown of Queens on Oct. 11.
The presale starts tomorrow (May 30), while general ticket sales will go live this Friday (May 31). Peep the entire route below.
The “Moment 4 Life” creator initially announced that she would be bringing her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” last week. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “I was offered a second leg beginning in SEPTEMBER. Sign up now, and [tickets] will go on sale in a few more days… Wow. God is good. Don’t you ever give up. You got this.”
Thus far, the trek has been full of surprises. Minaj brought out several guests these past few months: 2 Chainz for the first Atlanta stop, Big Sean for Detroit, Drake for Toronto, BIA and JT for Boston, and 50 Cent for New York.
It hasn’t been without its setbacks, either. Over the weekend, the Grammy nominee was arrested in Amsterdam on allegations of drug possession. The unfortunate event caused her to postpone her Manchester show, with the new date scheduled for June 3.
“I don’t know when was the last time I felt that low,” Minaj shared on Stationhead yesterday (May 28). “There was one lady there — all the rest were men — and I could tell she had a heart. The treatment was just disgusting, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

Taylor Swift fans convinced star is adding more Eras Tour dates after cryptic post
Many Taylor Swift fans couldn't get tickets for the first US leg of the Eras Tour, but new rumours of a potential second US leg have given them renewed hope
- 19:37, 20 Jul 2023
- Updated 19:57, 20 Jul 2023
Rumours have began to circulate that suggest Taylor Swift may just be bringing her Eras Tour back to the United States for another leg of the tour. Right now, she's set to wrap up the first leg of the tour on August 9 in Los Angeles. The Eras Tour then continues on August 24 in Mexico City.
Popular gossip blog, Deuxmoi, posted on Twitter : "A list singer will be doing a second US leg of her very popular tour."
While Taylor isn't the only A-lister currently on tour, therefore the blog could be referring to someone else, fans are already excited and speculating the rumours pertain to Ms Swift.
The replies to Deuxmoi's tweet are flooded with optimistic claims that the star in question is Taylor. In fact, practically no other fan base is attempting to weigh in on the conversation.
One fan wrote: "Only Taylor has the demand for this. honestly I see no other artist having a huge demand which would require them to do a second US show."
Ticketmaster has previously said that ticket "demand drastically exceeds supply" for Beyonce's Renaissance Tour. Taylor's Eras Tour, "broke records" though in terms of demand for tickets, according to Ticketmaster . It is unclear at this time which tour outsold the other.
Other fans are hopeful that another leg of the Eras Tour in North America will include Canada this time. The country was notably overlooked in Taylor's first round of touring.
A fan wrote: "I told people to trust Taylor in regard to Canadian dates and that she’ll go on a second US leg."
In June, a report from Pollstar revealed that Taylor Swift was ranked number one of "highest-grossing tours at the halfway mark of what looks to be a record-setting year for the live industry". The tour had grossed $300,804,808 (£233,000) with over 1million tickets sold. This is something fans are proud of.
On Twitter, a fan said: "Mother making sure nobody’s ever breaking The Eras Tour’s record for highest grossing tour EVER."
Mother is what Swifties affectionately call Taylor.
Yet, some fans worry that another US leg could bring with it more anxiety since the tickets were so hard to get the first time around. After all, the first round of ticket purchases caused what some fans refer to as "The Great War". After the ticket sale continuously crashed Ticketmaster, Senators even asked the Justice Department to investigation Ticketmaster's policies.

After that, the superstar begins her European 'Eras Tour' on May 9, 2024, in Paris, France, before wrapping things up with a three-night stand at London's Wembley Stadium in mid-August.

US Open Week 2 storylines: Top seeds and Olympic medalists eye quarterfinals

NEW YORK -- While the three male Olympic medal winners -- Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Lorenzo Musetti -- all abruptly left the US Open draw in a span of 24 hours, all three women on the Paris podium reached the second week.
Iga Swiatek, the bronze medalist, has yet to drop a set and dropped only seven games in her past two matches. Gold and silver medalists Zheng Qinwen and Donna Vekic actually had to play each other in a fourth-round match late Sunday night.
The season’s last major is often spiced with upsets -- and the addition of the Olympics to the calendar threatened to cause more chaos. But six of the top seven seeds reached the fourth round; the only exception was No.4 Elena Rybakina, who withdrew in advance of the second round with an undisclosed injury.
The top two seeds (Swiatek and Sabalenka) could reach the quarterfinals here for the first time in eight years.
Strap in, it’s go-time. Here’s what we’re watching in Week 2:
Paolini wins at US Open, completes set of 2024 Slam second-week runs
Takeaways: pegula extends summer surge with trip to us open round of 16, wozniacki rediscovers her new york magic to return to us open round of 16.
Is it Iga’s time in NYC -- again?
In the blur that was 2022, Swiatek became the World No.1 for the first time and made another breakthrough in New York. This accomplishment has been overshadowed by those four titles at Roland Garros (in five years), but she’s clearly a serious player here.
She’s riding particularly high right now after a visit from The GOAT, Serena Williams on Saturday. They chatted before Swiatek’s win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. It was the first time the six-time US Open champion has been back since playing her last match two years ago.
😍 @SerenaWilliams in the house #USOpen pic.twitter.com/hMp9jxaKBu — wta (@WTA) September 1, 2024
“I still felt, even though we met before and for a couple of years we have been on the same sides and on tour together, she’s still like star-striking me,” Swiatek said, smiling. “It was nice that she approached me, because I wouldn't, for sure, find courage to do that if it was the other way.
“I’m happy that she’s following tennis and my game, because she told me that she's cheering for me.”
Swiatek plays No.16 Liudmila Samsonova, whom she’s beaten all three times they’ve played.
The surprise survivors
Thirteen of the 16 players in the Round of 16 were seeded. No.80 Wang Yafan was the lowest-ranked player, but she fell to Paula Badosa on Sunday. So who are the interlopers?
To be fair, they’ve won a few matches in their time.
The 34-year-old Caroline Wozniacki is ranked No.71, but she’s a former World No.1 and a Grand Slam champion. No.52 Karolina Muchova was a semifinalist here last year and is coming off some serious surgery. They both play on Monday.
This will be the first meeting between Wozniacki and Beatriz Haddad Maia, while Muchova won the only previous WTA main-draw match against No.5 Jasmine Paolini.
And then there’s 20-year-old Diana Shnaider, the No.18 seed and the youngest player left in the draw. She’ll meet No.6 Jessica Pegula, who won their first-career match a few weeks ago, 6-4, 6-3, in the Toronto semifinals.
The `amazing’ Jasmine Paolini
This might be the most incredible statistic from the 2024 season:
Before this year, Paolini won only four Grand Slam singles matches (losing 16). This year, she leads all women with 18 (against only three losses).
Reaching back-to-back finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon was a spectacular feat for the 28-year-old Italian. She and Coco Gauff are the only women to reach the fourth round of all four Grand Slams this year.
“This year has been amazing,” Paolini told reporters. “I played a lot of first-time things. First time I won two matches in a Slam.
“It’s something that’s crazy if they told me at the beginning of the year before the Australian Open, that I don’t know what I was thinking.”
Dubs … for days
How great is the mixed pairing of Taylor Townsend and Donald Young?
“He’s retiring so he asked me to play,” Townsend explained. “I was like, `You’re the reason I believed I could play any sort of pro tennis.’ Because he’s the closest I was around to it.
“He said he was training for this, and I said, `You better be. I’m going to show out, but I can’t carry the both of us.’”
They’re into the mixed doubles quarterfinals. They could meet No.4 seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Matthew Ebden in the semifinals.
Top doubles seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe are also through to the quarters.
Badosa bounces back
She was ranked No.100 at the Australian Open, coming off a seven-month layoff with chronic back pain. Paula Badosa wasn’t really sure she’d ever play elite tennis again.
And then she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, won the WTA 500 title in Washington, D.C., and made the semifinals in the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati. Now she’s into the quarterfinals of the US Open for the first time, and for the second time at a major. With a win over Coco Gauff/Emma Navarro, she’d be the first Spanish woman to reach these semifinals since Conchita Martinez in 1996 and find herself ranked well inside the Top 20.
“I always knew that if my back responded well and my injury responded well, I knew I could get back to the top,” Badosa said. “I just needed my physical part to respond, and I think the mental and the tennis was there.
“I want to play big stages. I want to play the last rounds of every tournament. I want to be one of the best players in the world.”
New message: @PaulaBadosa 💌 pic.twitter.com/lCB8NOxESI — wta (@WTA) September 1, 2024
Pegula feeling fresh
This is the time of year when most players are dragging at the end of a long sprint through the North American hard-court season, but Jessica Pegula isn’t one of them. She’s won 12 of 13 matches.
“I skipped the entire clay season -- I wasn’t able to play the French,” Pegula said. “So I think when I started on grass, I had a couple of months off. Also, I didn’t go to the Middle East.
“I think in a weird way, it was almost a good thing looking back that I’ve been able to kind of start that part of the year pretty fresh. Even though it was a lot going back and forth with the Olympics and the surface changes and all that.”
Since the start of the Olympics, Pegula has won more matches than any woman (13) and took the title in Toronto and made the final in Cincinnati.
