Europe BJJ Tour

EUROPE BJJ TOUR – RULES

The EUROPE BJJ TOUR league brings an innovative proposal for the rules of our championships.

We will use the rules of the International Federations present in Europe: IBJJF, AJP or FIJJD.

We will not mix the rules in the same event, each event will adopt a single rule from a single federation, it can be IBJJF, AJP or FIJJD.

To know which rule will be used for each event, the participant must consult it in the event information, where all the information related to the rules of combat, uniforms and weight table will be available.

Paul will bring back his acclaimed Got Back Tour to Mexico this November!

Due to the phenomenal success of the Got Back tour in Mexico last year, Paul McCartney will return for additional shows in Monterrey and Mexico City as part of his 2024 run of shows.

With songs like ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Live and Let Die’, ‘Band on the Run’,  ‘Let It Be’ and so many more, the Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show: hours of the greatest moments from the last 60 years of music – dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives.

Our 10 favorite travel hacks

Want to travel better? The Upgrade has your back.

europe bjj tour

The Upgrade is By The Way’s series offering guest writers a place to share their travel hacks and hot takes. For every edition, illustrator extraordinaire Min Heo animates the advice. Below are some of our most popular entries. Some may look basic, but ask yourself: Are you optimizing your travel routine?

Want to write your own Upgrade? See how to submit here .

Dress up for your flight

David Coggins longs for the Cary Grant era of aviation, wishing more passengers would step up their game to bring some dignity and glamour to the experience. The author of “ Men and Style ” argues that making a sartorial effort shows respect to gate agents and flight attendants in uniforms — and your fellow passengers.

“I realize this is a losing battle, but it’s still a good fight,” Coggins writes. “If a sweatsuit is your truth, then there’s nothing else I can say, other than nobody has looked good in a sweatsuit in the history of the world.”

He’s not sure if wearing that checked blazer will really get you upgraded to first class , but it couldn’t hurt.

Visit ‘second cities’ in Europe

Rick Steves is our favorite pétanque-playing philanthropist . He’s a respected travel expert, too. In his beloved Europe, Rick recommends you break up every visit to a capital with a final day in a “ second city .” Think Porto vs. Lisbon , Glasgow vs. Edinburgh and Marseille vs. Paris .

“While lacking the popularity and the bucket-list sights,” Steves writes, “Europe’s second cities tend to enjoy a creative edge, a strong civic spirit, a Rust Belt toughness, fun-loving eateries with cutting-edge menus, entertaining street art … and far fewer tourists, which also means lower prices, a more authentic welcome and arguably a more honest cultural experience.”

Pick your travel uniform

Like Steve Jobs and many practitioners of quiet luxury , travel writer Jessica Poitevien is all about eliminating decision fatigue. Standardizing a set of clothes only for flying doesn’t just help you streamline your packing routine. Poitevien “doesn’t worry about leaving anything important behind, because I have two of everything: one that’s for home and one that sits in my backpack waiting for the next trip. All I add is my passport, laptop and current reading material, and I’m good to go.”

What’s her uniform look like?

“My top is always a long, loosefitting T-shirt or sweater, so I’m covered through all the bending and lifting that happens with luggage and going through security,” Poitevien writes. “I add a jean jacket to stay warm on those freezing planes and use its inner pockets to keep my phone, passport and boarding pass within easy reach.”

Cut your airport arrival dangerously close

It’s not for the faint of heart, but travel writer Brad Japhe wants to waste as little of his life in airports as possible.

“I live about five miles from Los Angeles International Airport,” Japhe writes, “and if my scheduled domestic flight is at, say, 9 a.m., I’m comfortable entering an Uber up until 8:32 a.m.”

Besides some serious bravado, pulling this off requires the use of PreCheck or Clear, among other conditions:

  • Traveling solo
  • Express security lanes
  • Familiar airport
  • No checked bags

Order the Hindu meal

Food and travel writer David Farley thinks we should reject the binary of chicken or pasta in favor of a plant-based meal that exudes spice . By reserving a Hindu meal on your next long-haul flight, you could be treating yourself to dal makhani and naan, or bhindi masala and raita. As long as your reserve your meal at least 24 hours ahead of your flight, airlines told us, you won’t be taking a special one away from anyone else.

Get up early on vacation

Life is short. So take a cue from the dad playbook, and seize the vacation day with an early wake-up call . For Deputy Features Editor Amanda Finnegan , rising with the sun means hours of calm before your travel partners join you. And by 10 a.m., you’re ready for your first nap.

Make a fashion statement in black and blue

Rachel Tashjian ’s job is cooler than your job. As a fashion writer, she flies to Europe three or four times a year for work, watching extravagant clothes appear in fashion shows for weeks at a time . It’s a dream, but there’s an understandable amount of pressure to look amazing every single day. Enter the black-and-blue hack . By mixing a pop of navy in with a collection of dark pieces, you’re making the daring choice to break one of the primary rules of fashion.

Her packing list:

  • Two skirts: something that flows and something that hugs.
  • Three jackets: a classic blazer, something weird and an open-front wool jacket.
  • One pair of trousers.
  • One black dress.
  • Three T-shirts
  • Black shoes

Stop eating airport food

Noah Galuten is a hero hubby. By the simple act of making his wife a sandwich to take to the airport, the Los Angeles-based chef and author had the epiphany that we should all swear off precooked egg patties forever .

Sure, you could get settle for upcharged coffee, a Dunkin’ wrap or a sad Caesar from “Weirdly Branded Bar & Grill You Have Never Heard Of.” Or, you could be the game changer for your household, whipping up breakfast burritos or English muffin sandwiches — or just buying a better sandwich in advance in the real world (see: Emily’s Pork Store , Brooklyn).

Take a solo trip

The secret to a happy relationship is compromise. And giving your partner time to travel solo — especially if you’ve got a kid at home. That’s the philosophy preached by writer Austin Graff , an extrovert who has learned to appreciate the benefits of going it alone: It’s easier to get into top-rated restaurants, there’s time to wander and you return to your family more thoughtful and present.

Take a buffer day

The weekend-warrior routine is for people in their 20s. Once you’re in your 30s, Rachel Orr writes, you know well enough to quit pushing so hard and give yourself an extra day to chill before rushing back to work . “Think of it as a mini staycation at the end of your vacation,” she suggests.

More travel tips

Vacation planning: Start with a strategy to maximize days off by taking PTO around holidays. Experts recommend taking multiple short trips for peak happiness . Want to take an ambitious trip? Here are 12 destinations to try this year — without crowds.

Cheap flights: Follow our best advice for scoring low airfare , including setting flight price alerts and subscribing to deal newsletters. If you’re set on an expensive getaway, here’s a plan to save up without straining your credit limit.

Travis, Jason and Kylie Kelce attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in London

europe bjj tour

Swift fever has touched down on the British capital as Taylor Swift was set to perform her first sold-out night in London's Wembley Stadium ushering in new opening acts with Travis, Jason and Kylie Kelce cheering from the floor.

Travis Kelce was seen walking to the VIP floor tent during Paramore's "Misery Business" with Kelce's brother, sister-in-law and best friend Ross Travis. The Kelces were in Cannes, France the day before the concert for the Cannes Lions Festival. Fans snapped photos and videos of Jason exchanging friendship bracelets with Swifties. Also spotted on the floor, Swift's parents Scott and Andrea Swift , Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan , Queer Eye host Jonathan van Ness and actress Cara Delevingne.

Online, social media accounts have confused Ross Travis and Travis Kelce. Travis was wearing a green shirt and Cowboy hat.

Kelce has attended the tour a half dozen times since the couple went public last year. His first stop was Buenos Aires, Argentina , followed by Sydney, Australia,  two nights in Singapore and the final night in Paris. Swift has changed the “Karma” lyrics to "guy on the Chiefs" every time Kelce has cheered her on from the sidelines. She also attended 13 NFL games in the 2023-2024 season culminating in the Super Bowl.

The Kansas City football player was in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday for his three-day event Tight End University . Before heading to Europe he hosted a the program that brings tight ends together for film study, on-field drills, recovery and rehabilitation.

Introducing Mette to the Swift universe

Mette opened up for night one in Wembley taking the stage before Paramore, the opening act for all 51 Eras Tour shows in Europe. Mette describes her musical repertoire as "sensual and sweaty." Prior to the Eras Tour she played Cassandra alongside Swift in the 2019 movie "Cats."

"This is such a special night y'all," Mette said performing an eight-song set. "Thank you, Taylor."

London transforms into Swiftmania

The City of Dreams has prepared for the three nights of Swift. She's sang about the city in several of her songs including "London Boy," "So Long London" and "The Black Dog." She has a history with the city after dating ex Joe Alwyn for six-plus years, frequently visiting Camden Market, Highgate, the West End, Brixton, Shoreditch and Hackney.

Murals appeared around the city the week leading up to Swift's show. Hours before the show, the Tube, or London subway system, created a map decked out in the singer's 11 eras, recoloring the lines to correspond to different albums and renaming stops after songs like "All Too Well" and "I Knew You Were Trouble." Gemstones were added to reflect popular landmarks like the Hampstead Heath or Wembley Stadium.

Swift has two more performances at Wembley Stadium before heading to Dublin. On Saturday, Griff will open for the singer before Paramore and on Sunday, Benson Boone will be the first act to take the stage.

Why Is Biden Going to Europe Twice in a Week?

President Biden made two back-to-back round trips to Europe, separated by about 60 hours on the ground at home.

David E. Sanger has covered five presidencies.

Air Force One is plenty comfortable if you are its most privileged frequent flier, with a comfortable bedroom and a spacious office.

Still, most American presidents will try to avoid making two back-to-back round trips to Europe, separated by about 60 hours on the ground at home. Yet that is what President Biden is pulling off this week.

“The president’s schedule is jam-packed. It is,” said Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary. “There is a lot to be done on behalf of the American people.”

Mr. Biden left the United States for D-Day celebrations in France last Wednesday, June 5; stayed the weekend for a state dinner in Paris; and returned to his home in Delaware late Sunday. He left Washington again early Wednesday, June 12, to fly to the southeast coast of Italy for the annual gathering the Group of 7, the traditional summit of leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.

When Mr. Biden looks back at those two round trips — roughly a day and a half of flying, all told — he may remember only what happened in between: the conviction of his only living son, Hunter Biden, on charges of lying to obtain a gun permit.

But the two round trips raise the question: Why didn’t he just stay in Europe for a couple days, play a round of golf, visit some American troops, maybe huddle with a foreign leader or two? He is, after all, 81, and some of his aides who are half his age were complaining about lost sleep cycles.

The White House’s explanation for four trans-Atlantic crossings in nine days was simply that Mr. Biden had commitments in Washington. But by presidential standards, his public schedule looked light: a lunch with Vice President Kamala Harris, a Juneteenth concert and a speech to a gun-safety group.

Hunter Biden’s trial also loomed over the planning, though it was impossible to know when these trips were planned that the case would go to the jury and a verdict would be rendered in the three days between the D-Day trip and the G7 meeting. As it turned out, Mr. Biden shuttled back to Delaware on Tuesday afternoon to be with his son before taking off again in the morning.

But privately, some aides said there were election-year optics to be considered. There was no urgent reason to stay in Europe, and a few down days “might not look right,” one of Mr. Biden’s advisers conceded, though the aide quickly added that Mr. Biden never really took a down day. In any case, no one wanted images of the president on what his political opponents might cast as a European holiday, at least while he is running for re-election. A long weekend in Rehoboth, the Delaware town where he and his wife, Jill, have a beach house, might be one thing; a few days in France or Italy have an entirely different look.

The presidency, of course, is the ultimate work-from-anywhere job. There are instant communications (a White House van, bristling with antennas, travels in every motorcade) and a staff of hundreds ready to cater to every contingency, whether that involves sending off a thank-you note or launching a retaliatory nuclear strike.

The intolerance for seeing presidents abroad, save for work, has a long history. Franklin D. Roosevelt loved to camp at Campobello Island, in Canada, though as president he kept the visits brief. When Harry S. Truman went to Potsdam, Germany, to negotiate with Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill about what post-World War II Europe would look like, he stayed for more than two weeks. There were days off from the negotiations, but not for long, and the nearest big city, Berlin, was a bombed wreck. And there was a reminder of the risks of being out of town: Churchill’s party lost to Labour during the conference, and he got booted out of office while it was still going on.

Inside the Biden Administration

Here’s the latest news and analysis from washington..

Immigration: President Biden announced sweeping new protections  for undocumented immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens. The new policy  will give some 500,000 people a pathway to citizenship.

Social Media Warning Labels: Dr. Vivek Murthy, the U.S. surgeon general, said he would urge Congress to require a warning label on social media platforms  advising parents that using the platforms might damage adolescents’ mental health.

Title IX Rules: A federal judge blocked the Biden administration’s new Title IX regulations in six more states  as Republicans and conservative groups try to overturn a policy that expanded protections for L.G.B.T.Q. students.

Merrick Garland: The Justice Department said it would not prosecute the attorney general for not complying with a congressional subpoena  for recordings of Biden’s interview by a special counsel. The decision was expected because the president had invoked executive privilege.

Questionable Titanium: The F.A.A. is investigating how titanium that was sold using fake documentation  got into recently manufactured Boeing and Airbus jets.
