Why Should You Do The Bandaje Falls Trek?

bandaje falls

The trek is in the remote area of the western ghats. Lies in Dakshina Kannada of Karnataka, Bandaje falls is one of the least explored waterfall treks in this part of the state. A tributary of the Netravathi river forms the waterfall. The  height of the waterfall  is approximately  200 ft.  which is HUGE!

The hike is known as Bandaje Arbi (waterfall in the location language) Falls.

Ballalarayana Durga fort is the first part of this trek; on your way to Bandaje Falls. This fort is not only known for its breathtaking view and

greenery charms, but it’s also an ideal spot for amazing sunsets. Earlier, people used only to cover the fort & return as not many were aware of the waterfall.

This trek cannot be done in a single day from Bangalore, as reaching the base village will take 7-8 hours. Hence, we advise doing the trek over the weekend.

The waterfall is close to the scenic Charmadi ghat and lies around 25 km from Ujire.

  • Location:  Near Durgadahalli, Chikmagalur district.
  • Height:  200 ft.
  • Trek Difficulty:  Moderate
  • Ideal Season:  Monsoon & Winter

How To Reach Bandaje Falls?

Bandaje Falls View

Public Transport:

The closest town accessible via public transport is Sunkasale village. From Bengaluru, you can take a  KSRTC  bus to Mudigere. These are overnight buses and will drop you at Mudigere early morning. From there, you can take a local bus to Sunkasale & then you can hire a local vehicle to take you to the start point.

Private Transport:

If you are travelling in your car, you can reach the start point directly; there are a couple of good homestays where you can stay for the night and start your trek the following day. The distance from Bengaluru is around 290 kms and can take anywhere between 7-8 hours, including halts.  Get Directions.

How Difficult Is The Bandaje Falls Trek? What Is The Trek Route?

bandaje falls trek starting point

The Bandaje falls trek is moderately challenging. The trek distance is 6-6.5 kms from the  start point , and it takes around 7-8 hours to reach Bandaje falls & return to the start point.

It would be best if you tried to start the trek in the early hours to witness the sunrise from the Ballalarayana Durga fort. The views from this point are majestic, especially during the monsoon months. One can divide the trek into two sections.

Start Point to Ballalarayana Durga Fort:

The trek distance from the start point to the fort is around 3KM and will take around 1.5 hours to reach. This section of the trek is through the dense forest and is a bit tiring compared to the 2nd section, as you gradually climb up till you reach the fort.

Ballalarayana Durga fort to Bandaje Falls:

The 2nd section of the trek is around 3.5 KM and will take approximately 2.5 hours to reach the Bandaje falls. This section of the hike is relatively easy. After the fort, most of the part is walking on grasslands and rolling hills, and you have to descend at the end to reach the waterfall snout.

Important Information

  • Avoid wearing shorts & half sleeves shirts during the monsoons, as you are prone to leech attacks.
  • If you are new to trekking, you should hire a guide from the local village who can help you on the trail.
  • An Ideal Itinerary:  Start your day early from Bengaluru, reach Sunkasale around the evening and rest for the day at a local homestay or go for a stroll to the rani jhari viewpoint. Start your trek the following day by 6:00-6:30 AM, so you have enough time to enjoy the entire hike and get enough time at the waterfall. Come back to the homestay by 2:00-3:00 PM and leave for Bengaluru if you are comfortable driving on the same day.
  • You can ask your homestay to arrange for your breakfast & lunch en route.
  • Carry about 2-3 litres of water as there is no good water source on the route.

What is the best time to visit Bandaje Falls Trek

For the most vibrant, lush green scenery and powerful waterfalls, plan your trek during monsoons. Unlike Kumara Parvatha, which is risky during monsoons, Ballalarayana Durga is a monsoon delight.

If you prefer crystal clear views of the surrounding Ghats and Kudremukh National Park, opt for post-monsoon and winter seasons when the skies are clear and haze-free.

How to reach the starting point of the trek?

To explore Ballalarayana Durga – Bandaje Falls trek, you can choose between driving your own vehicle or taking public transport for an added adventure.

Driving is ideal, as the trek starts from a remote location , offering leisure and rest before and after your journey. The trip from Bangalore to the base at Sunkasale/Durgadahalli passes through beautiful roads in Karnataka, with lush greenery surrounding you. Durgadahalli is 6.5 km from Sunkasale, and the Kalabhyraveshwara temple serves as the trek’s base. Behind the temple, find a secluded mound where you can camp.

If you opt for public transport, be prepared for a longer journey and more walking. Buses from Bangalore to Horanadu or Mudigere are available, but you will need to switch buses multiple times.

Once you arrive in Mudigere, take a bus to Sunkasale and stock up on drinking water. From there, look for a jeep or minibus to Durgadahalli, or walk 6.5 km to the campsite. Regardless of your chosen mode of transportation, make sure to reach the base by 4 pm, pitch your tents, and enjoy a quick hike to Rani Bagilu for stunning views of Kudremukh National Park before turning in for the night.

Availability of accommodations and food near the trek

There are no proper restaurants at the base and only a few small eateries in Sunkasale. It’s a good idea to pack non-perishable food from Bangalore, such as bread with jam or peanut butter, or rotis. Make sure to bring enough for dinner on Day 1 and breakfast and lunch on Day 2.

For water, fill your bottles at Sunkasale before starting the trek, as the water tank near the temple isn’t suitable for drinking. The next available water source is Bandaje Falls, 6 km into the trek.

When it comes to accommodations, you’ll find plenty of homestays and resorts in Charmadi. Many travelers choose to drive from Bangalore and camp at Sunkasale, but you can also book a homestay according to your preferences.

The Difficulty level of the Bandaje Falls Trek

The Ballalarayana Durga – Bandaje Falls trek is an adventure that’s manageable for most trekkers, but it’s essential to be prepared for a few challenging sections. During the monsoon months, the trail can be slippery due to mud and loose gravel, so choose your footwear wisely and stay updated on weather forecasts.

Keep an eye out for steeper sections in the grasslands after Ballalarayana Durga Fort, where loose stones and gravel can make navigation tricky. Trekking poles can help with stability and grip in these areas.

At the snout of the waterfall, exercise extreme caution, especially during monsoons when the rocks can be slippery. To safely enjoy the view, lie down with only your head exposed so your body weight keeps you secure, or ask a friend to hold your hand and provide support while you take a peek.

Is Camping Allowed On Ballalarayana Druga – Bandaje Falls Trek ?

Remember, you can only pitch tents in the clearing behind Kalabhyraveshwara temple. If you’ve driven, leave your tents in your vehicle before setting off. For those who arrived by bus, kindly ask a local in Durgadahalli or Sunkasale to look after your tents while you’re on the trek. Carrying tents on the trail is not permitted.

Places to Visit in Chikmagalur

Bandaje Falls

bandaje falls trek starting point

India | Karnataka | Chikmagalur

#30 of 37 places to visit in chikmagalur, distance (from chikmagalur): 75 kms, visited from: chikmagalur, trip duration (including travel): full day, place location: near ballarayana durga fort, transportation options: + walk/trek, website: na, phone no: na, place address: na, travel tips: permission from belthangady wildlife range office, kudremukh national park is required to trek to bandaje falls..

At a distance of 4 km from Ballarayanadurga Fort, 9 km from Kodige Falls, 45 km from Mudigere, and 75 km from Chikmagalur, Bandaje Falls is a mesmerizing waterfall located in the Charmady Ghat section of the Western Ghats in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. It is one of the stunning waterfalls in Karnataka, and among the must-include places in Chikmagalur holiday packages . Also known as Bandaje Arbi Falls, Bandaje Waterfall is formed by a tributary of the Netravathi River. It plunges 200 feet from the hilltop and is a surreal sight to behold. The waterfall continues its journey downhill as a single stream to join the river Netravathi as a tributary. It is one of the most magnificent natural treasures of the Western Ghats hidden among a blanket of greenery on top of the hills. The majestic waterfall is as famous for its natural beauty as for being a junction of various trek routes. Permission from the Belthangady wildlife range office, Kudremukh national park is required to trek to Bandaje Falls. The waterfall is located in a remote area of Western Ghats and can be reached only by undertaking trekking in thick forests and grasslands with the help of local guides. A trekker's delight, there are two different routes to reach the falls. If you are travelling via Mangalore - Ujire, it is located 25 km from Ujire. The trek generally starts from Valambra near Somanthadka village (7 km from Ujire) at the base of the hills. The uphill journey passes through difficult terrain but the surrounding natural environment is a pleasure for the eyes. Many trekkers tire out before reaching the falls at the end of the 15 km long trek (one way). Another trekking route passes through Ballarayana Durga Fort. The trail starts from Kalabhairaveshwara Temple at Durgadahalli, which is around 38 km from Mudigere. The route from the temple to the initial forest section (from where the actual trek starts) is on a moderately steep mud road. Jeeps and other SUVs can go all the way up to the start point covering a distance of 1 km else just park your vehicle at the temple and start trekking from there. The fort is about 3 km from the temple. The trek to the fort is a difficult one and takes about one and a half-hour. From Ballarayana Durga Fort, the waterfall is about 4 km and takes about two and a half hours. The entire trail from the fort to the waterfall is on rolling hills that consist of a vast expanse of grasslands with thick, dark green forests in patches. The first glimpse of the water gushing through rocks is a sight for sore eyes. Since the waterfall is located within dense jungles of the Western Ghats, there is no arrangement for tourists to stay near the falls. But the natural site offers enough space for everyone to enjoy a camping adventure. The cool breeze, clear sky filled with the stars, light music in the background had set up a perfect camping experience. The most suitable time to visit the waterfall is the post-monsoon season. It is not advisable to visit the waterfall during the rainy season as not only do the rocky surface gets slippery but one can also face a lot of leeches and other insects as well. The trek becomes all the more difficult and the streams are also hard to cross. The waterfall is dry during the summer season. Timings: 24 hours Entry: Free, Rs. 300 - 500 for Guide

Bandaje Arbi is a hidden waterfall on top of a mountain, amidst the blanket of greenery surrounding it. This waterfall which is a tributary of the Netravati river is situated in Charmadi ghat range of western ghats in Dakshina Kannada. Usually, we will be witnessing the water plunging down from the foothills or from another hillock. However, in this case, you get a chance to stand next to the point from where the water jumps off the cliff from 200ft. The only way to experience Bandaje Arbi falls beauty is by undertaking a hard day’s trek to the mountains. Be prepared for a tough and sweaty trek through dense forest, tall grasslands, and multiple streams. Don’t miss the dramatic view of sunsets that cast an orange glow in the sky, from the tip of the cliff.

You can camp overnight next to the waterfalls and gaze at billions of twinkling stars throughout the night. Try reaching the spot before sunset and pitch your tents on flatlands next to waterfalls. Also, collect firewoods to light the bonfire for cooking purposes as well as to keep wild animals away from camp.

Above all, you can even take a shower by jumping into the Bandaje stream that originates here. Although the place is a little clumsy and hard to stand comfortably. Even though the cliff is far from this spot, be careful as small slips can drag you along the stream and toss you off the cliff.

By the way, if you are wondering what Bandaje Arbi means. Bandaje is the name of the village and the word “Arbi” in regional Tulu language means “Waterfall”.

Bandaje Arbi Falls Trek Routes

Before you start your trek, you need to seek permission from the Belthangady forest authorities. It is a remote area with the paths that are confusing and in the recent past a lot of people lost their way into the wild, Hence, you will be allotted a local guide who will be guiding you throughout the trek.

Trek Trail 1: From Gowdara Mane Bandaje Village(Ujire Side)

Ujire Town( jeep ride)-( 15 Km)->Gowdara Mane in Bandaje Village(Trek start point) -9Km (5 To 6 hrs)->Bandaje Arbi Falls(Camping) -6Km  (2 To 3 hrs)->Ballalarayana Durga Fort -4Km(1 hr)->Durgadahalli( Trek End Point)

Trek starts from Bandaje Gowdara Mane or Valambra after taking permission from forest officers. It is about a 20 km trek and might take around 10 hrs to complete it in a single stretch.

From Gowdara Mane to Grasslands

To begin with, you will be passing through a village and a couple of small streams. In the initial phase, as you are entering the forest it will be very difficult to find the route without the local guide. Once you cross the 2nd stream, the trek gets tougher as .you enter the dense forest that is steep and full of leeches. After about 1.5 hours of a hard trek journey, you will come across a big stream. Be careful while crossing this stream during peak monsoon, when the currents are high. Don’t forget to fill in your water bottles, as the next water source is waterfalls itself. Another 1.5 hours of trek inside the forest will lead you to grasslands.

Grasslands To Bandaje Arbi Falls

After a few minutes of walking on the grasslands, you will get the 1st glimpse of Bandaje Arbi Falls. However, it will take another hour to reach the waterfall, considering the steepness and campings gear you are carrying. Try drinking water and apply sunscreen lotion to defend or protect yourself against the heat of the scorching sun. The entrance of waterfalls is towards the left. But, you have to cross a small valley which is steep and has loose soil to reach the Waterfall. To get to the tip of the cliff you need to cross Bandaje stream. There are flatlands near the stream, where you can pitch a tent to stay overnight.

Note: Don’t go to the edge of the cliff, as many people have slipped off the cliff and lost their life.

You can descend in the same route as you climbed or via the Ballalarayana Durga fort

Camping Near Bandaje Arbi Falls

Bandaje Arbi Falls To Ballalarayana Durga Fort

It is a 6 km trek from waterfall to the fort and it might take 2 to 3 hours to complete. Trek is mostly through the grasslands and the path is well marked. Try filling your water bottles before you depart, as there are no water sources. Strolling on the left side of Bandaje Arbi waterfall will lead you to the fort.

Initially, you have to climb a steep hillock for 30 odd minutes. Later, you will be hiking on almost flatland through the meadows for another 1.5 hrs before you arrive at the fort. Not to mention, the beautiful panoramic view of valleys, green rolling mountains, and misty surroundings that are breathtaking while on this route.

The fort is now in ruins, you can’t find anything except for shattered walls, a few arches, and a basement. The most important thing, don’t camp near the fort, as this place is home to cattle that attract leopards.

 Ballaladurga Fort to  Durgadahalli

This is probably one of the easiest paths of the Bandaje Arbi Falls trek. Descend down is a well-marked path through grasslands and forests. On the way, you will come across 3 small water streams that will help to quench your thirst. It is a 4 km descent and it will take about 1 hour to reach the base. In the meanwhile, you can call auto-rickshaw driver number mentioned on the rocks to pick u up and drop in Sunkasale which is 5 km.

Trek Trail 2: From Durgadahalli (Sunkasale side)

You will be starting your trek from Durgadahalli Base from the Sunkasale side. The route is easy and well marked. You might not require a guide unless you are getting down from the other side. This route is exactly opposite to that of trek trail 1 or Ujire side of trekking.

Sunkasale Town( jeep ride)-(5 Km)->Durgadahalli(Trek start point)-4Km(2 hr)->Ballalarayana Durga Fort -6Km (2 To 3 hrs)-> Bandaje Arbi Falls(Camping) -9Km ( 4 hrs)-> Gowdara Mane in Bandaje Village(Trek End Point))

Where To Eat Near Bandaje Arbi Falls

Except for a few small eateries and shops at the base, you will not have anything on the top. Hence, try carrying packed lunch, snacks, and water bottles to fill water in streams. If you are planning to cook, take small vessels, Maggie,  and raw materials that can be cooked easily on firewood. You can pack your lunch in Gowdara mane or from the hotel in Ujire.

How To reach Bandaje Arbi  Falls Trek Start Point

Trek trail 1 start point: bandaje gowdra mane .

Bandaje Gowdra mane or Valambra town is just 15 Km from Ujire town near Dharmastala. You have to take a left turn before Mundaje village and continue for 5 Kilometers before taking a right turn near co-operative bank Hedya in Bandaje road to reach Valambra. The frequency of government buses or private buses in this route is very less. Hence, it is better to hire a jeep from Ujire or take your vehicle till the Bandaje Gowdra mane which is the starting point of the trek.

Trek Trail 2 start point: Durgadahalli Base Point

You can hop into frequently available buses from Bangalore to Horanadu. From Horanadu you can take a local bus or jeep to Sunkasale which is 30 Km away. From Sunkasale you can either walk or hire an auto-rickshaw to Durgadahalli which is the start point of freak.

After we reach the peak, you can rest and enjoy the breathtaking view, devoid of any noises and accompanied by the ever-blowing gentle breeze.

Terms and Conditions

Frequest questions.

Q: I have booked the trek when will I get further updates regarding the trek? A: Well, most of our treks are usually confirmed by Thursday and you would receive a EVENTS HEADSUP mail that would contain details as regards Pickup Points ( Location and Timings ), Outdoor Leader ( Point of Contact ), Do’s, and Don’ts.

Q: Would I be added to a WhatsApp Group once the trek is confirmed? A: Yes, the Events headsup mail would contain a link for WhatsApp Group through which one can join and interact with fellow travellers and outdoor leaders.

Q: Is the trek recommended for beginner? A: Well, the trek level although being moderate is certainly recommended for beginners.

Q: Is it safe for Solo Women Traveller ? A: Yes, it’s much safe and sound. We have been organizing these treks over the years now and we always have had an equal ratio or sometimes we have women in the majority. We also have female outdoor leaders who are on board and lead the other trekking enthusiast. We have made sure our homestay/tent accommodation is separate for men and women.

Q: I've never gone on a hike before, so can I do this one? A: Yes. Ballalarayana Durga might be a good first hike for someone who has an active lifestyle. We encourage some preparation before tackling a hike for persons who live a very sedentary lifestyle.

Q: Is it necessary for me to hire a guide to trek Ballalarayana Durga? A: No. It isn’t as one can fairly see the path to Ballalarayana Durga from Rani Jhari Point.

Q: Do I have to carry luggage all the way during trekking? A: Not at all. You could keep all the extra luggage back at the campsite/homestay and carry only the necessary stuff for the trek (Raincoats, Torchlight, Waterbottle, lunchbox, and your valuable)

Q: What is "Without Travel" option during my booking process? A: Well, if you select this option, all the travel arrangements for your entire itinerary must be managed by yourself, and Plan the Unplanned crew will not be managing anything related to your travel. We recommend you come via car for a smooth travel experience to, from and within the destination. For better clarification call us 9482070194, 8147086083

Q: Would I be able to postpone to a future in case I do not attend the trek on the day of departure? A: We are extremely sorry, you cannot postpone to any future date in case you fail to attend the trek on the mentioned date for any reasons whatsoever ( family/health/work emergencies ). You can write to us at [email protected] as regards and our team will get in touch with you on the same

Q: What about the Ballalarayana Durga trek's cellphone network and connectivity? A: Only at the base will you find a mobile network for practically all major providers like Airtel, Vodafone, Jio, and others. Throughout the journey, you will be outside of the network's service region.

Q: Can we leave the luggage at the homestay? A: Yes, it is possible to leave your luggage at the homestay and carry the necessary things on your trek.

Q: I'm looking for a spot to park my vehicle. Is there parking available? A: Vehicles can easily get to the start of the hike. By road, the base is well linked. Parking is available immediately at the base. As a result, you may park your car and begin your hike directly from the campground!

Q: Is the trail filled with leeches? A: If you go trekking during the monsoon season, you will almost certainly encounter leeches along the way.

Q: Is it possible to camp anywhere along the trail? A: No. Only the area behind the Kalabhyraveshwara temple is suitable for camping. Before beginning the hike, pack your tents and leave them in your cars. Tents are not permitted to be carried on the path. If you arrived by bus, leave your tents at a local's house and ask for them to be looked after at Durgadahalli or Sunkasale before beginning your trip.

Q: Is it possible to trek to Bandaje falls during the monsoon season? A: Yes, it is possible. The trail during the monsoon season is lovely and it isn’t as challenging as the Kumara Parvatha trek

Bandaje falls treks | ballalarayana durga.

bandaje falls trek starting point

Highest Altitude: 1493 m (4900 ft)

Location: Kudremukh National Park/ Belthangady

State/Country: Karnataka / India

Base Village: Durgadahalli

Total Distance: 18km (Return)

Number of Days: 1 Day

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Bandaje falls is located in Belthangady Taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. The trek to Bandaje falls can be done from Belthangady (The base of the waterfall) or from Durgadahalli (The top of the waterfall). The trail from Durgadahalli is popular. On this trek, immerse yourself in the lush green surroundings of the western ghats and visit an ancient fort on the way. Bandaje falls trek is therefore an interesting package of nature and history. Here are the details on this trek.

Plan Your Trek

Best time to Trek

The best time to trek in the western ghats is during the monsoon or just after. The entire region turns green and the waterfalls are flow in abundance. A trek during the months of July, August and September would be extremely rewarding. However, you can do this trek year-round.

bandaje falls trek starting point

To do this trek you will have to pay an entry fee of Rs 250. This can be done at the forest Checkpost, at the beginning of the trail. You can also pre-book your trek on the following website – Karnataka Eco Tourism .

This trek can be a weekend getaway from Bangalore. Here is a rough plan that you could use and modify it as you wish.

Friday night: Travel to Sunkasalle, Durgadahalli or Kottegehara cross and Stay in a lodge / Homestay.

Saturday (Around 7AM): Drive to the Forest Checkpost and begin your trek to Bandaje falls and Ballalarayana fort at or before 8AM.

Saturday (Around 5 PM): Return back to Homestay.

Sunday: Explore Kodige Falls, Kyatanamakki or the temples of Belur-Halebidu and return back to Bangalore by night.

How To Get There?

If you are taking a bus, then board a bus to Chikkamagaluru. On the way, get off at Sunkasale. At Sunkasale, look for some local auto-rickshaw or jeep to drop you off at Durgadahalli or directly at the trek starting point. Alternatively, you can also drive to Kottigehara cross, then take a local bus to Sunksale and then a jeep ride to trek start point.

If you plan to reach there on your own vehicle, then you have to turn left at Sunkasale. Bandaje falls trek start point is 4km from the main road and 21km from Kottigehara cross.

Where to Stay?

There are several homestays on the road from Sunksalle to Durgadhalli. I would recommend Durgadahalli homestay. (Sanjay – 7795754335). They charge around Rs2000 per head per night, with food included.

If you want to travel budget, then you will find lodges in Kottigehara cross. You can stay there overnight and drive 30mins next morning to reach the trek start point.

Things to Carry

Well, like for any other trek, you have to go prepared. Special attention is required if you are doing Bandaje falls trek during the monsoon. I have put together a list of things you must carry  –

  • A good trekking shoe is a must.
  • Water bottle (2lt or more)
  • Packed lunch and snacks.
  • Waterproof jacket or poncho during rainy season.
  • Some salt to chase away the leeches during rainy season.
  • Sunscreen lotion or Hat
  • Flash light in case of emergency
  • Day pack to store all the things
  • Waterproof covers for your bags

bandaje falls trek starting point

The trail begins near Rani Jhari viewpoint. Soak in the magnificent views at this location for a while before beginning the trek to Bandaje falls.

bandaje falls trek starting point

The initial stretch passes through a jungle. Occasionally, you get a view of the Ballalarayana durga (fort) at a distance.

After crossing this dense forest, you reach the grasslands. Here, you will find a left deviation towards Ballalarayana durga. My suggestion would be to continue your trek to Bandaje falls and  visit the fort while returning.

bandaje falls trek starting point

The trail continues through the meadows and goes up and down a few hills. The trail might seem never-ending at a point but keep going. The onward journey is easy and mostly flat or a descent. There are some sign boards on the way. But, I would recommend that you download an offline map and follow the trail towards the waterfall. Sometimes, the mist covers the entire trail and multiple routes can misguide you.

bandaje falls trek starting point

After a steep descent filled with gravel, you reach a dead-end where the Bandaje waterfall takes a plunge of 200 feet to reach Dakshina Kannada and eventually make its way to join the sea. Relax for an hour or more and soak in the beauty of this location before heading back.

bandaje falls trek starting point

The return journey is what makes this trek a moderate level. All the descent that brought you to the waterfall now transforms into a steep ascent. After about 5km trek, just before the forest area, you will reach the deviation to the fort; this time on your right.

bandaje falls trek starting point

A short but steep climb up a hill will take you to Ballalarayana Durga. The views from the fort are spectacular.

bandaje falls trek starting point

During the Monsoon, the entire region is covered in mist and sometimes makes it difficult to view the trail lead. But this would only make your experience more interesting.

Other Treks Nearby

If you are staying here longer and would want to do more treks in the region, here are a few interesting treks in the Kudremukh national park  –

  • Kudremukh Peak
  • Nethravathi Peak
  • Kurinjal Peak
  • Ettina Bhuja
  • Narasimha Pravatha

Other Attractions Nearby

If you are planning a week-end outing, then on the second day, you can visit a couple of places around the region. Here are some of the interesting places.

  • Kodige Falls
  • Bettada byraveshwara Temple
  • Belur Chennakeshava Temple
  • Halebidu Hoyasaleshwara Temple
  • Belavadi Veera Narayana Temple
  • Kyathanmakki
  • Sringeri Sharada Peetham
  • Hornadu Annapurneshwari Temple

My Experience

bandaje falls trek starting point

I trekked Bandaje falls in the end of August. The entire trail was being covered and revealed by the mist. It was truly a magical setting out there. The cloud movement not only contributed to spectacular views but also gave me some great time-lapse shots. I would highly recommend doing this trek during the Monsoon or just after the rains.

I did find the journey back from a waterfall a bit challenging due to steep climbs. Also, you will be walking back the same trail therefore, there is nothing new to expect.

We stayed in Durgadahalli homestay and on our way back, stopped at Kodige falls and Halebidu Hoyasaleshwara temple. All in all, it was a refreshing experience. Checkout my film on this trek to know more.
