Best Inline Hockey Skate Brands
Bauer inline hockey.
Bauer is a big time player in the inline skate world. Flexing their research and development budget shared with their ice hockey skate line, Bauer is able to bring the latest and most advanced technology to their skates. They are typically the most advanced and at the same time the most expensive.
Mission Roller Hockey
Bauer purchased the Mission-Itech brand in 2008, and has incorporated these two lines into their overall product lineup since. Itech was a leader in the visor / cage area, and Mission had technologies in sticks, skates, and inline hockey. Bauer has since transitioned Mission to purely roller hockey. Mission now makes advanced skates with more aggressive and unique graphics than the traditional Bauers. Their technology is quite similar so you are still getting a top of the line package just in a different skin!
Tour Hockey
Tour is a Roller Hockey first brand that specializes in making budget friendly yet high performing inline hockey skates. They don’t have the technology of a hundred million dollar company like Bauer, but make up for it by putting the good tech they have into skates and offering them for a super competitive price. They also make inline hockey pants, protective shirts, and wheels.
CCM Inline Hockey
CCM also offers inline skates, but isn’t as prominent in the roller hockey world. If you are a CCM diehard however, I wouldn’t steer you away from them!
Roller Hockey Skate Fitment Guide
Below you will find some basic information on the parts of a hockey skate and how to fit them properly. We will be writing a more in depth article on how to fit skates at a later date so keep a look out for it! Until then the guide below can point you in the right direction to get a great fit!
Parts of the Inline Hockey Skate
This part of the skate that you put your foot into and is comprised of an Achilles guard, heel cup, quarter panel (the sides), and a toe cap. Some companies manufacture these pieces separately and then assemble them into the final product. Other newer and more advanced skates have several or all of these pieces manufactured as one striving for a more ‘one piece’ construction which creates a stronger skate with better energy transfer.
This is the part of the skate that is screwed into the boot at the top and holds the wheels at the bottom. Although this part of the skate doesn’t get the same attention as new lightweight boots or fancy wheels, it is an integral part of the skate.
A super important part of the skate, the bearings determine how easily your wheels rotate. Higher end bearings will have less friction and will spin more easily, ensuring you don’t waste energy.
This part is pretty obvious, however, there are many types of wheels. From soft wheels designed for ultimate traction and maneuverability indoors, to outdoor wheels which are harder and will not wear as easy. Higher end skates generally come with softer and higher end wheels standard
SKATE LENGTH
The first question everyone asks is ‘How does my shoe size correlate to skate size?’. A hockey skate is usually 1.5 (US) sizes smaller than your shoe size for an adult, and closer to 1 full size down for a child. An adult wearing a 10 US size shoe would start off trying on a size 8.5 skate.
SKATE WIDTH
Hockey skate widths are measured in letters and can belong to one of two width nomenclature systems. The sizing is ranked from narrowest to widest. The classic ranking system is C, D, E, EE, and an alternative system is N, R, and W meaning narrow, regular, and wide. The majority of players will fit into D or R width skates.
Heat Molding Skates
Heat molding skates became standard in the early 2000’s. Before heat molding, hockey players had to find a skate that fit reasonably well out of the box, and then literally through blood, sweat, and tears, break the skates in over a period of 10-20 skates. Thankfully time has changed and on most upper end skates you can bake them and get a great fit right out of the box!
We have gone over many of the best inline skates in the game, as well as some budget options At the end of the day if you are looking for a high performance skate, that amazingly does not come in at the most expensive in our list, we think you should go for the Bauer Vapor 2XR . If anyone has an opinion or question on any of the roller hockey skates I have talked about, we’d love to hear from you.

Tour used a comfortable, high-volume boot that offers a relaxed fit right out of the box. The Kemistry Niton wheels were multi-surface, meaning they can be used on most skating surfaces like smooth concrete, sport court tile, and wood, but we recommend upgrading to an outdoor wheel if you are playing on rough asphalt. Also aiding in immediate step-in comfort is the pro-inspired felt tongue and the extra-plush ankle foams. The thick felt tongue also comes with an integrated lace-bite guard that keeps the top of the foot comfortable and protected all game long. The internal ankle foams help keep the foot comfortably locked into place for the best fit and feel through each stride.

Comments: We purchased these for my 8 year old son who has been skating for 5 years but was previously using the multi-size skates. He tried these on along with another pair that was priced a little higher, but still comparable. After trying out both pairs he really like the comfort of the Tours and felt that they were easier to skate in. That said, I weighed these and they are significantly more heavy than the other skates and it was noticeable to me. Given their young age, I could see them getting tired more quickly as a result. All-in we really like these and perhaps the heavier skate weight will help strengthen their stride, but the weight was the only negative from an otherwise really well made skate and for the price you can't go wrong. From: Bob, Buffalo, NY, 9/24/21
Comments: I bought these skates for my son and he loves them. Smooth action in the wheels and the boot is comfortable. As a bonus, he can also tie them up himself, so that's nice. From: Anonymous, 10/27/21
Comments: Great skates so far. Daughter loves them From: Jessica, Piedmont, OK, 12/26/21

I am a junior ice hockey player in minnesota and i am currently looking to buy some new inline skates for off season training. I have been looking at the Tour Code E2 or last years Mission HE950 skates and i am not sure which one to go with or a different skate all together. I use Bauer Vapor 30 skates for on ice, not sure if that helps or not. thanks.

with those two choices, the Tours are better. For $270, you could also look at the Mission HE7500 from this year, which is probably the best option. The Tours aren't bad, but the Hummer feels like a pontoon compared to the Hi-Lo.
Joker518 0
If you have zero experiance with inline hockey skates the difference between the Hum'mer and the Hi-Lo chassis probably won't mean much as it will take you awhile to get used to either. You'll find plenty of people who have different opinions on the classic Tour vs. Mission debate but honestly either is a fine choice. Both companies have made a huge commitment to the roller hockey game and produce top notch products.
Buy which ever you can get the cheapest and use extra money to buy some Outdoor wheels!
Justin 1933 134
The all 80 chassis will feel like skiis to someone who is an Ice only player....You may be fast in a straight line, but turning will be not be good....
I've seen guys on the Hummers that have gone inside-outside and stopped/turned on a dime alot better than guys on top of the line Missions with HiLo. It's all about the player.
Indeed, it will take a bit to get used to. But in the end, it's all about whichever setup makes YOU feel the best.
thank you, i will be skating indoors for the most part actually. since the ice is out at our local arena and i have a key to get in, i use that for primary training. So i should probably get indoor wheels right, the surface is pretty slippery in there.
TheProfessor 2
Definitely invest in some quality indoor wheels. I was a cheapskate and tried to skate on some cheap, possibly old indoor wheels and was sliding all over the place. actually tweaked an old knee injury because my feet were sliding out from under me when i put pressure on the inside "edge".
Sassmasta 0
I know that you have seen guys cut realy well on the hummer, I have too. I think what Justin was trying to say was that the conversion from ice to inline, would probably be a little easier going to a hi-low, or non-hummer chassis, due to the wheelbase length. I know quite a few ice hockey guys that have converted boots and had problems w/the hummer chassis because it feels 'very un-natural' to them.
Ahh ok. Sorry to jump on that the wrong way Justin.

Moscow Ice Rinks – Skating In the City
Patriarch's pond - gorky park - red square - vdnh - hermitage garden - sokolniki.
Patriarch's pond
When the ice is thick enough they will prepare the pond for ice skating. Although this is definitely not the best quality "rink", it's one of our favorites in terms of atmosphere. We love to go here in the morning with some friends and enjoy the beautiful Patriarchy scenery. There is a small coffee stand and we like to combine it with a nice lunch in one of the many nearby restaurants. The access is for free but there is no skate rental here, so bring your own (very cheap at Sportsmaster)!

Tour used their new composite Bionik boot that is extra stiff for lightning-quick responsiveness and long-lasting support. Internally, the Kv2 debuts the Sensor Fit Pro liner with Relay memory foam padding that redefines out-of-the-box comfort. The unique combination of foams and materials naturally wraps around the foot for a new level of comfort and fit.
Also new to the Tour line is the Fuse split chassis. This lightweight aluminum construction uses bigger wheels in the rear and smaller wheels in the front, which improves agility for quick turns and faster starts, separating you from the competition every time.

Comments: As a pro player on ice I was looking for something that would meet my needs on the hard top on those summer and in-between days. As we are all in quarantine right now finding skates my size was like a needle in a haystack, so I took my chance on these skates. Let me tell you now...these are awesome skates!! The boot fits your foot like a glove and there's no give when performing sharp turns. The memory foam allows for an easy quick adaptation to your foot without the need of baking the skates. The hi-low wheels allow for that on ice feel while the grip is enough to give you that quick stop and go performance you want to have. All around just a great skate!!! From: Anonymous, 7/16/20
Comments: I cannot believe how much I have loved these skates for what I paid. They are comfortable, lightweight, and look great! I was a your standard ice hockey kid growing up and always would convert my ice skates over thinking there was nothing else out there. Now I cant wait to try out Tour's other gear! Oh, and the wheels, the wheels are phenomenal From: Anonymous, 12/9/20
Comments: What a nice skate heavy duty runner boot fits like a glove great for people who need room in the toe box. They are the most comfortable boot I have ever had From: Joshua, 3/30/21

Elite Skates.
