'Insane' traffic heading to Anfield

ECHO reporters Alice Walker, Christopher Megrath and Paul McAuley will be speaking to fans at the gig tonight. However, despite leaving the ECHO's office off Old Hall Street at 3pm, they have only just arrived at the stadium along with many heading to the show.

Alice said: "Traffic has been an absolute nightmare. It's insane." Christopher added the traffic had been "wild" and that they had only left the city centre at 3.48pm.

Although the 917 shuttle buses to Anfield are not affected by today's strike action, other local services have been suspended, which might mean many have opted to travel by car or taxis instead. Below is a picture of Arkles Lane, the drop-off and pick-up point of the shuttle bus.

Stagecoach and Unite members have agreed to run the 917 shuttle bus from the city centre to Anfield to to meet requests from the local authorities and Merseyside Police. However, other services which you may use to get home and around Merseyside will not be operating.

Stagecoach’s other bus depots in the area will be unaffected by industrial action and services 1/X1, X2, 471/472 will operate into Liverpool as normal.

How do I get to Anfield Stadium?

There will be no public parking available at Anfield Stadium. Anfield is a highly residential area therefore parking enforcement will operate on concert days.

Due to crowd egress and road closures around the stadium, expect long wait times for any vehicles using the Utting Avenue drop-off and pick-up service.

Travelling by bus is fast, frequent, and convenient with 'express' services that will get you to and from Anfield and Liverpool City Centre in around 15 minutes.

The 917 express shuttle bus service operates from Commutation Row in the city centre from 3.30pm each show day. The pick-up and drop-off point at the stadium is on Arkles Lane.

Taylor Swift

It’s taken the UK’s great musical city of Liverpool to do it, but Taylor Swift was finally brought to tears by her fans on Saturday evening, as she performed her final concert there in front of a crowd of 60,000.

The singer had staged three shows at the Anfield stadium – more famous for its long association with Liverpool FC. The Daily Mail reports that Swift began looking “visibly emotional” while singing her 2020 hit Champagne Problems .

This moment came the same day as her ex-partner Joe Alwyn broke his silence on their long relationship being referenced in Swift’s most recent album The Tortured Poets Department .

The Saturday show saw Swift surprise the crowd with a fresh acoustic mash-up of her songs; this time it was Carolina and No Body No Crime , and also The Manuscript and Red .

The tour will continue in the UK with Swift heading to Cardiff on Tuesday before London later in the month.

Taylor Swift pleads for help during song as she 'chokes on stage' at Wembley

Taylor Swift "swallowed a bug" during a performance at Wembley Stadium over the weekend, with her heard asking for assistance whilst on stage at the venue.

The singer-songwriter, 34, performed three shows at the stadium in London last week as part of the Eras Tour, which reached the UK earlier this month. And she's scheduled to return for five additional concerts at the venue in August.

It was during Taylor's most recent show, which was held on Sunday evening, that she's said to have "swallowed a bug" whilst performing All Too Well (10 Minute Version). Photos and videos have been shared following the performance.

Footage, shared by attendees on platforms such as TikTok, shows Taylor telling the crowd in the middle of the song: "I swallowed a bug. Can you sing?" She appears to laugh as she continues the chorus, supported by the audience.

Moments later though, after briefly closing her eyes, Taylor is seen coughing as she steps away from the microphone. The musician is subsequently seen with her hand held up against her throat, as she appears to choke on the stage.

The Grammy Award winner returns to the microphone with her guitar in hand shortly afterwards and continues with the performance at the venue in the capital city. She's seen smiling and seemingly in good spirits after the incident.

It isn't the first time that Taylor has shared with fans that she's swallowed a bug on stage . Last year, whilst touring the US , she told a crowd in Chicago: "I swallowed a bug. I'm so sorry." She added: "I'm totally fine. It's just so stupid."

Some fans noted that it's not the first instance when they reacted to the footage from Wembley Stadium. One person wrote: "Not again!" Another teased: "Has anyone been keeping a bug tally this whole tour?" A third said: "I love how she always lets us know." Someone wrote: "She did it again."

Taylor latest tour, the Eras Tour, reached the UK earlier this month after having previously visited countries including the US, Japan and Australia . The tour launched in March last year and is scheduled to conclude in December this year.

She's performed in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and now London in recent weeks, and is set to return to the capital city later this year. Taylor is set to visit to Ireland this week, before performing elsewhere in Europe as part of the tour.

Amid the ongoing tour, Taylor released her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April. She surprised fans at the time by also releasing it as a "secret" double album, subtitled the Anthology, which contains fifteen additional songs compared to the standard version.

The couple arrived shortly after midnight and stayed out until the early hours of the morning. As they left, Kelce gazed lovingly at his girlfriend while accompanying her into their car.

The NFL star wore a cream-colored crochet top and trousers, which he paired with a blue Louis Vuitton bucket hat. Swift also opted for a crochet look, wearing a colorful VRG GRL mini dress and yellow block heels.

The couple, who have been dating since last summer, were joined by some of Swift’s inner circle, including Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and singer Ellie Goulding , both of whom attended Swift’s show on Sunday. Sophie Turner and her boyfriend, Peregrine Pearson , were also spotted at the members-only club.

Swift kicked off her three consecutive nights at Wembley Stadium on Friday, June 21, with Kelce there to cheer her on. His brother, Jason Kelce , and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce , watched the show from the VIP tent and were seen trading friendship bracelets with fans. They returned the following night, standing alongside fellow VIP guests like Tom Cruise , Ashton Kutcher , Mila Kunis and more.

A-listers and royal family members aside — Prince William attended the Friday concert with his kids Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9 — the biggest surprise came on Sunday when Travis joined Swift on stage during the Tortured Poets Department set. He stepped out in a tuxedo and top hat, matching her dancers Kam Saunders and Jan Ravnik , and carried Swift across the stage after “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Party in London After Eras Tour Surprise 2

As Swift pretended to throw a tantrum, Travis danced and helped touch up her makeup. She blew him a kiss as she strutted the catwalk before singing “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

Travis has flown around the globe to support the pop star throughout the NFL offseason, previously hinting that he was looking forward to seeing her take the stage in London.

“Man, I’ll tell you what. The London shows, I think she’s at Wembley eight times, which is mind-blowing that she can do that many shows in one stadium and fill that thing up,” he told Entertainment Tonight in April. “I played at Wembley once and I don’t even think we filled that thing all the way up.”

With three nights under her belt, Swift returns to Wembley Stadium in August. She confirmed earlier this month that her tour is officially coming to an end in December.

“People have been like, ‘How are you going to celebrate the 100th show?'” she said while performing in Liverpool, England, on June 13. “The celebration of the 100th show for me means this is the very first time I’ve acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December. Like, that’s it.”

Swift acknowledged that the Eras Tour has “become my entire life,” adding, “It’s taken over everything. I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore. All I do when I’m not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear. … I want to spend the 100th show just thinking about that and living in this moment with you and being here with you.”
