Leela James Readies ‘Thought U Knew Tour’ For January Start

Leela James is ending the year on a high note, with her latest album Thought U Knew a shoo-in for many a “Best Of 2023” list. The soul powerhouse is taking that momentum into 2024 and taking her tunes on the road with the announcement of her Thought U Knew Tour .

Ms. James loves to perform and is wasting no time getting back on stage, with the tour scheduled to begin in a few weeks on January 13th with a concert in Grand Prairie, Texas. Following that show, she’s on to the next, including stops in Tampa, Detroit, Oakland, New York City, Baltimore, Los Angeles and Milwaukee. The bulk of the 18-city tour runs from January through April and includes one additional date in June and its final date on July 13th in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Included on Leela’s Thought U Knew Tour itinerary are her previously scheduled engagements on Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise and the 16th Annual Capital Jazz Fest SuperCruise , which both set sail in February.

Leela performed her last show of the year over the weekend opening for legendary diva Patti LaBelle , and she already can’t wait to resume performing. “I’ll be ‘Right Back In It’ at the top of 2024 on the road, and I hope to see you in your city or one near you,” she wrote on Instagram and Facebook to accompany the tour flyer. She invited her fans to “come have a good time,” which is a given at a Leela James live show.

Tickets to see Leela James on her Thought U Knew Tour are currently on sale for most dates through the end of March. Details on a few shows are still forthcoming, but it’s advised to save the date if you don’t want to miss her when she comes to your area. Leela James Announces ‘Thought U Knew Tour’ Dates

Leela James is heading on tour in 2024. The soul singer has announced the dates for her headlining  Thought U Knew Tour. 

The tour kicks off Jan. 13 in Grand Prairie, Texas, at Texas Trust CU Theatre.

James will make stops in Tampa, Detroit, Oakland, New York and Baltimore, before concluding on March 29 in Milwaukee. James’ tour will also include a performance on Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise , which sets sail Feb. 13 to Nassau, Bahamas. 

The  Thought U Knew Tour  is titled after James’ latest album, out now via She Sangz Music/BMG. The album includes the lead single “ Right Back In It ,” a top 10 hit on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart.

“Right Back In It’ is special, as it highlights the importance of getting back to yourself, getting back to love, and getting back to what makes you feel good,” James explained.

Last month, James linked with Kevin Ross for an official “ Right Back In It (Remix) .” 

Thought U Knew  is the follow-up to James’ 2021 album,  See Me .

Leela James Announces ‘Thought U Knew Tour’

Singer Leela James is taking the momentum from her latest album release, Thought U Knew on the road next year.

The 18-date run kicks off on Jan 13 in Grand Prairie, Texas. Following that, James will have several U.S visits including Tampa, Indianapolis, Detroit, Oakland, New York and more. James’ tour will also include a performance on  Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise , which sets sail Feb. 13 to Nassau, Bahamas. The tour concludes in July in Stockbridge, Georgia.

James has made significant strides in the R&B genre since entering it in 2005. Her debut album, “A Change is Gonna Come,” led to nominations for a Soul Train Award and a NAACP Award. Her success continued with the 2010 album “My Soul” achieving a position in the Billboard Top 40 and Top 10 in the R&B album chart.

Her single “Complicated” reached the top of the US Adult R&B chart in 2021, and her ballad “Fall for You” was certified Gold in 2022.

Throughout her career, James has performed alongside a range of artists, including James Brown, Robert Randolph, The Isley Brothers, Maxwell and Fantasia.

R&B songstress Leela James has announced a return to the road in early 2024 supporting her brand new album 'Thought U Knew' . The brief outing kicks off January 13th in Grand Prairie and continues into February making additional stops in Tampa, Indianapolis, Detroit, Oakland and Grand Rapids. Prior to the tour, the LA-based singer will be joining Maxwell and Patti LaBelle on separate occasions in select markets.

James released her eighth studio album 'Thought U Knew' on October 27th, 2023 via Shesangz and BMG Rights Management. The new album follows up 2021's 'See Me' which reached #98 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart and features a guest appearance by Mumu Fresh on the track 'Break My Soul' . Back in 2019, the singer-songwriter launched her Are You Ready? Tour across America with support from The Truth Band . Two years prior, she teamed up with Tank for their Savage x The Soul Tour before joining Maxwell during portions of his Summers' Tour along with Ledisi and Common .
