This is one of my boyfriend's favorite song, or he likes this song or whatever.
This morning me and two of my best friends ever were all listening to this song at the same time!! I love this song!!!
wikipedia.com says that the song is about an attractive woman with whom the male narrator wants to cruise in his car. I think it's about a couple who cruise around town singing along to their favorite songs.

Florida Georgia Line, ‘Cruise’ – Lyrics Uncovered
Country music fans have been eating up the debut single from Florida Georgia Line , 'Cruise,' thanks to its catchy lyrics and infectious melody. It doesn't hurt that the duo's Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard are single and good looking, either.
"'Cruise' came out of another writing session in the middle of another song," Kelley tells Taste of Country of the day they wrote the song with their producer, Joey Moi, as well as Chase Rice and Jesse Rice. "I think we kind of have to thank the songwriting gods for that one."
"The first line of the chorus just kind of popped out of nowhere, really," adds Hubbard.
" Baby, you a song / You make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise / Down a back road blowin’ stop signs through the middle / Every little farm town with you / In this brand new Chevy with a lift kit / It’d look a hell of a lot better with you up in it / So baby you a song / You make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise ," Florida Georgia Line wrote in the 'Cruise' chorus lyrics.
"We love back-roading and rolling down our windows and listening to music," Kelley admits with a grin. "I don’t think there’s anything better than that."
" She was sippin’ on Southern and singin’ Marshall Tucker / We were falling in love in the sweet heart of summer / She hopped right up into the cab of my truck and said / 'Fire it up, let’s go get this thing stuck ,'" the song continues.
"We knew there was something cool about it," notes Kelley. "I remember we just kind of tweaked it a little bit. Joey did an awesome job on the track, and it sounds huge. We’re really proud of it. It’s just a fun, summer song"
Adds Hubbard, "Hopefully our fans will feel the same. The feedback has been amazing so far. It’s been really good -- nothing but positive! Almost surprisingly overwhelming."

Cruise by Florida Georgia Line
SongfactsÂź:
- Georgia born and raised Tyler Hubbard and Florida native Brian Kelley both began playing guitar individually while they were in high school before meeting at Nashville's Belmont University. They began writing songs together between classes and soon found themselves playing local clubs, quickly building a fanbase. Hubbard and Kelley signed a publishing/production/management deal with Craig Wiseman's Big Loud Mountain record label in December 2011 and released their first five-song EP, It'z Just What We Do the following May. This breezy summer song is their first single from the collection.
- The song's success was predicted by Brian Kelley as soon as the pair started laying it down. "I remember first day in the studio when we were recording 'Cruise' and it was starting to come to life," said Tyler as the song climbed the Hot 100. "BK looked at me and he said, 'Dude, we're gonna sell a million copies of this song.' And I'm like, 'Dude, there's no way. It's not even possible.' And you know, that was a year ago when we were starting to work on it."
- When this tale of youthful attraction, music and Georgia back roads topped Billboard's Country Airplay chart, Florida Georgia Line became the first duo or group to reach #1 on the chart with a debut single since Zac Brown Band's " Chicken Fried " in December 2008.
- The song left the Hot 100 in February 2013, after peaking at #16. However, after a pop crossover remix with rapper Nelly was released a couple of months later, the song reappeared on the chart this time in the Top 10.
- This song found a home on pop radio playlists alongside far more kinetic fare by the likes of Icona Pop, Robin Thicke, and Maroon 5. Part of its appeal is its unabashedly Southern sentiments, as we hear about a beautiful girl who enjoys both The Marshall Tucker Band (" Can't You See ," " Heard It In A Love Song ") and Southern Comfort cocktails. Unlike most hits of the time, the song forgoes an intro and starts right in with the chorus, which is repeated three more times in the song. In the last verse, most of the musical backing is dropped, which adds provides a nice break near the end of the song and adds impact to that fourth chorus.
- Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line explained to Radio.com how the collaboration with Nelly came together. "We had some pop stations that were wanting a different version of 'Cruise' that we could send out, and he [Nelly] is a labelmate," he said. "We heard he was a fan of what we were doing and the song. We knew he wanted to do it, and literally a day or two later we had the track and we cranked it up on the bus." He added that the pair were blown away by Nelly's version. "I literally think that whole weekend we probably listened to it a couple hundred times," he admitted. "We're huge fans of him. I don't think we could have picked anybody better. It fits what we're doing, it fits what he's doing. He's a country boy at heart. We're thankful that he put his amazing talent on our song." This wasn't the first time that Nelly had dipped his toe into the Nashville sound. In 2004 he recorded a country-rap hybrid, " Over and Over ," with Tim McGraw, which peaked at #3 on the Hot 100.
- The song set the all-time record for the most weeks at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart (over three different runs). It overtook three other titles that each led for 21 weeks - Eddy Arnold's "I'll Hold You in My Heart (1947-48), Hank Snow's "I'm Moving On" (1950-51) and Webb Pierce's "In the Jailhouse Now" (1955). The song finally abdicated the #1 crown after a run of 24 cumulative weeks, the last 19 occurring over consecutive frames. The record was eclipsed by Sam Hunt's smash single " Body Like a Back Road ," which spent its unprecedented 25th consecutive week atop the country chart on the tally dated August 12, 2017.
- The song climbed into the Hot 100's top five in its 34th week on the chart, setting a record for the slowest ascent to the region in the chart's history. It eclipsed the 30-week ascent to the top five of Lonestar's " Amazed " in 1999-2000. Imagine Dragons bested Florida Georgia Line's longevity record just three weeks later when " Radioactive " climbed into the Hot 100's top five for the first time in its 42nd week on the chart.
- This was the first song that Florida Georgia Line wrote with producer Joey Moi (Nickelback, Jake Owen ). The trio built on a tune that Hubbard and Kelley had already started with brothers Chase and Jesse Rice. "It was one of those days where everything was firing perfectly," Moi told Billboard magazine. "No one got hung up or was banging their head on the wall trying to find a word that rhymes with 'car.'"
- This won Single Of The Year at the 2013 CMA Awards. Florida Georgia Line also won Vocal Duo Of The Year at the same ceremony.
- The remixed version of the song took Single of the Year at the 2013 American Music Awards. "I've got to thank my boy Nelly," said Tyler Hubbard. "Thank you for making this song epic for us. It's a huge honor."
- NielsenSoundscan announced in early January 2014 that the song had overtaken Lady Antebellum's " Need You Now " to become the #1 best-selling digital Country single of all time.
- The story of the song started one afternoon in Jesse Rice's living room when he, Kelley and Chase Rice were in the middle of a writing session. They had been penning another song when Kelley started playing something very different. "All of a sudden Brian [Kelley] pops up and strums a chord and starts humming this melody," Chase Rice told Radio.com. "That ended up being the 'Cruise' melody, and we looked at each other, all of us three, and we were like, 'What the hell is that?' He was like, 'I don't know, but we should write it.' As we got more into it, we completely dropped the other song we were writing that day, and I'm glad we did." Kelley continued the story. "The first line of the chorus got thrown out," he recalled. "We wrote it really quick, got it back in the studio, tweaked some things and added some things. Our producer Joey Moi really challenged us to tighten it up and to try and make it the best song we could. He made an amazing track to go along with that. It doesn't sound like anything else that's on the radio."
- Bro-country is a term used in country music that refers to Nashville songs about young guys partying, drinking, admiring barely clad women and driving pickup trucks. The first use of 'bro-country' was by Jody Rosen of New York magazine in a August 11, 2013 article talking about this tune. "In short, 'Cruise' is bro-country: music by and of the tatted, gym-toned, party-hearty young American White dude," Rosen wrote. "It's a movement that has been gathering steam for several years now, and we may look back on 'Cruise' as a turning point, the moment when the balance of power tipped from an older generation of male country stars to the bros."
- Producer Joey Moi used the hair metal band Def Leppard as a sonic template for the tune. "I came from a world where we spend days in the studio, trying to make a song better," he told Billboard magazine. "In my brain, the template is Def Leppard. Everything with them was a monster hook and a giant chorus."
- This song came at a time when music-themed cruises were becoming popular, and accordingly, the duo set sail on the "This is How We Cruise" cruise on November 8, 2014. The four-day trip aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line vessel Norwegian Pearl featured two live performances by the duo, which each guest getting a photo with the guys. The cruise was so popular they did it again the next year.
- Florida Georgia Line were a little-known duo when they recorded this song. Co-writer Chase Rice admitted to Taste of Country in a 2019 interview that he wasn't initially sold on Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley cutting "Cruise." "I wanted Luke Bryan or somebody big to cut it," he said. "And luckily they took it and made it what it was. Because at that time, nobody knew who they were. They know now."
- "Cruise" was the first-ever country single to earn Diamond certification (10 million units sold) from the RIAA.

- Camille from Toronto, Oh Every once in awhile, song lyrics come along that make you wonder why they hadn't already been written before. This is one of those songs. They just make perfect sense. Nelly's video of this is hot; I've never listened to his music before but love the mix of the Florida Georgia Line boys with Nelly. This one will always remind you of 2013/summer.

Eight passengers stranded on African island after Norwegian cruise ship left without them
A dream cruise vacation has turned into a nightmare for eight passengers left stranded on the African island of SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe after their ship left without them because they were late to return from a private tour.
The tourists â six from the U.S. and two from Australia â were aboard the Norwegian Dawn, a Norwegian cruise line ship , which departed from Cape Town, South Africa, on March 20 for a 21-day voyage up the coast of Africa set to end in Barcelona, Spain, on April 10.
But on Wednesday, the group of eight tourists was late to return to the ship by more than an hour for the all-aboard time of 3 p.m. from a private excursion on the island, which was not organized by the cruise line.
Jay and Jill Campbell of South Carolina were part of the group that was left behind.
They said that their tourâs operator notified the cruise captain that they were going to be late to rejoin the ship and that the local Coast Guard tried to get them on the vessel but that they werenât allowed to board.
As a result, the couple and the rest of the group have been stranded for days on the island off Nigeria, grappling with language, currency issues and complicated travel to catch up with the ship.
âThe lovely people of SĂŁo TomĂ© were very gracious, very hospitable. They had reached out as much as they could to help us find hotels,â Jay Campbell said on NBC's "TODAY" show Tuesday morning.
âWe were able to get to a tour agency there to arrange flights to the next port of call. ... Very difficult process â youâre dealing with multiple languages, language barriers, youâre dealing with different currencies ... finding someone that even has dollars ... trying to get an agent to understand where we need to get to.
"Itâs one of those âYou canât get there from here,â" he added.
A Norwegian spokesperson called the incident a âvery unfortunate situationâ and said, âGuests are responsible for ensuring they return to the ship at the published time.â
The cruise line said that after the guests failed to return, their passports were delivered to local port agents, in line with protocol. The company said it was working with local authorities to understand âthe requirements and visas needed for the guests to reboard the ship at the next available port of call.â
On Monday, the guests had made arrangements to rejoin the ship in Banjul, Gambia, but the ship was unable to safely dock there because of âadverse weather conditionsâ and âtidal restrictions,â Norwegian said. The guests were then contacted and provided with information to rejoin the ship at Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday.
Jill Campbell said they traveled through seven countries in 48 hours to arrive in Senegal on Monday night.
But the couple was reconsidering whether they even wanted to return to the cruise.
"We are considering whether or not we are going to board the ship. It is in dock here in Senegal," she said. "We believe there was a basic duty of care that they had forgotten about, so it does concern us."
"After what we witnessed, we truly believe that although thereâs a set of rules or policies that the ship may have followed, they followed those rules too rigidly. I believe that they really forgot that they are people working in the hospitality industry and really the safety and well-being of the customers should be their first priority," she added.
Ultimately, the eight passengers did rejoin the cruise before 8:30 a.m. ET Tuesday in Dakar, Senegal, Norwegian told NBC News in an e-mail Tuesday evening, after this story originally published.
Norwegian said the passengers were responsible for making their own travel arrangements to rejoin the ship.
"Despite the series of unfortunate events outside of our control, we will be reimbursing these eight guests for their travel costs from Banjur, Gambia to Dakar, Senegal," a cruise line spokesperson said in a statement. "We remain in communication with the guests and are providing additional information as it becomes available."
A silver lining of the catastrophe was that the Campbells were able to connect with another Norwegian Dawn passenger â Julia Lenkoff, 80 â who was also left on the island, but for a medical reason.
Lenkoff was on a different day tour Wednesday. She had "medically disembarked" from the cruise to seek local treatment on that day, Norwegian said.
Norwegian said that its care team tried to call Lenkoff several times and was unable to reach her and that it worked with its port agent in SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe for updates on her health.
The Campbells met Lenkoff and were able to put her in contact with her family in California, who flew her home â a move Lenkoff's daughter said "saved her life."
"She's a world traveler. She travels all the time. So this was going to be one of her bucket list trips, because she's been to 120 countries so far, and she wanted to get to 130," her daughter, Lana Lenkoff Geis, said in an interview that aired Tuesday on "TODAY."
Norwegian said Lenkoff was escorted on a flight to Lisbon, Portugal, then put in the care of airport staff members to continue her journey back to the U.S., where she has safely returned.

Leo Tolstoyâs 19th-century epic novel âWar and Peaceâ is more than 1,400 pages long. Just 70 pages in the middle of the book became the inspiration for the electropop opera of a musical, âNatasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.â
Written by Dave Malloy, who once toiled as a piano player on cruise ship voyages, âNatasha, Pierreâ spent two years in theaters off Broadway before opening on the Great White Way in 2016 with Josh Groban as Tolstoyâs emotional, searching protagonist Pierre Bezukhov and DenĂ©e Benton (later in âHamiltonâ) as the beguiling Natasha Rostova. The show would be nominated for 12 Tonys, winning two.

In fact, the delay goes back even further.
âWe had a COVID postponement,â recalled Cygnet Artistic Director Sean Murray. âThen we were going to do it and Russian invaded Ukraine. We would have been opening the show right in the middle of the invasion.â
But for Murray, who said he became obsessed with it when it was off Broadway âseveral lifetimes agoâ and who has seen âNatasha, Pierreâ three times: âIâve had a long time to think about it. The show was written to be immersive. It really calls for the audience meeting us halfway.â
Murray is directing this production that stars Selena Ceja as Natasha and KĂŒrt Norby as Pierre. They head a 10-member ensemble of actor/singers that includes Megan Carmitchel, Michael Louis Cusimano, Linda Libby and Luke H. Jacobs.
In one of its early productions, âNatasha, Pierreâ was produced with a 10-person cast in a custom-built tent in Manhattanâs Meatpacking District. By the time it appeared on Broadway, there were more than 80 people onstage.
âMy inclination is that the 10-person version is the best version for me because itâs about the immediacy and intimacy of the storytelling,â said Murray, âand being able to connect with the characters.â
As part of this productionâs goal of intimacy with the audience, Murray said the stage area has been redesigned to bring ticket-buyers closer to the performers. Two small secondary stages have been built near the side seating sections, and up to 16 audience members will be seated onstage for every performance. The orchestra will also sit onstage and will be joined periodically by roving actors playing their own instruments.
Ceja was approached by Murray to co-star in this show while she was playing the character of Wednesday in San Diego Musical Theatreâs production of âThe Addams Familyâ last fall. She calls âNatasha, Pierreâ âan amazing challenge. This show is one in which you have to be an excellent vocalist. You have to know your music because itâs so difficult and thereâs a lot of Russian influence in it.â
Not just Russian.
âItâs a variety of styles,â Murray said. âThere are some legitimate classical portions. Thereâs technopop music. Thereâs a rave scene. But thereâs a cohesiveness to it, in that itâs all about how to tell the story.â
Most of the actors in the show play instruments as well, and except for one spoken line, âNatasha, Pierreâ is a completely sung-through musical.
The story, an adaptation of that 70-page sliver from the voluminous 1869 novel âWar and Peace,â focuses on the engaged countess Natasha and the love triangle she entangles herself in. Meanwhile, the despondent aristocrat Pierre is seeking the true meaning of his existence â a Russian literary trope if ever there was one.
And yes, there is the presence of the Great Comet of 1812. According to astronomical history, it was actually the Great Comet of 1811, which remained bright and visible in the sky into the following year.
Malloyâs musical âtakes place right in the center of the novel,â explained Murray. âSo this little chunk works almost like a pivot â the charactersâ self-discovery reaches a turning point in this portion of the book.â
Ceja says she began reading Tolstoyâs novel after learning she was being sought for the part of Natasha.
âI had a copy Iâd never touched,â she said. âI opened it and thought âThis is crazy! Thereâs a thousand more pages!â It took me months, but I got to the end of it.â
Ceja also boned up on creator Malloyâs interpretation of Natasha.
âHe makes her someone you want to hug and root for in one scene and shake sense into the next,â she said. âItâs not like sheâs confident in any way as to be snarky or full of herself, but sheâs so full of life and so full of her own light.â
This musical take on âWar and Peaceâ is âextremely faithful to the book,â Murray said. âYou donât have to have all the information about the story (that precedes this section of the novel) to know what is going on.â
As for the âNatasha, Pierreâ score with its shifting musical idioms and expository lyrics, Murray said: âIâm really lucky that every single member of the cast is an actor and a singer. When youâre doing an opera with very challenging music, you need powerful singers who can act because they have to tell the story through the singing.â
For Ceja, who is making her Cygnet Theatre debut, being part of a cast of veteran actor-singers like those in this show was intimidating at first.
âBut itâs a dream, honestly,â she said. âI love the challenge of having to consistently raise my bar. They are so astonishing â my eyes are glued on them.â
Murray believes the immersive quality of âNatasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812â makes this show a âvery liveâ experience.
âItâs not your usual Broadway musical. At this point after COVID where people have been on their sofas streaming videos, when you go to the theater youâre going for an experience you canât have on your streaming devices. Thereâs a craving for that live connection that you cannot get through any other medium.
âThis show embraces this wholeheartedly,â he said.
âNatasha, Pierreâ already has given Ceja a new appreciation for Tolstoyâs novel.
ââWar and Peaceâ is a testament to all the stuff that happens between war and peace. Itâs the overarching tendency of human connection and how thatâs always one way or another rooted in love,â she said.
Who knows? If âNatasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812â is a hit this spring, maybe âWar and Peaceâ will become this summerâs big beach read.
âNatasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812â

Kristaps porzingis staying humble on the ground after j cole shout out, share this article.
On April 5, Kristaps Porzingis woke up to a flurry of text messages. The Boston Celtics big man had received a shout-out on J Cole’s latest album. The song âHuntinâ Wabbitz.â features Porzingis as part of a verse, indicating the big man’s popularity following an exceptional debut season in Boston.
Cole’s lyrics go like this: âI just want to kick back, take trips, make big chips stack till theyâre tall as Kristaps. Me and your squad are mismatched. Your calves ainât strong enough to follow his path.â Of course, the mismatched line is a hat tip to Porzingis’ presence within the Celtics rotation and their ability to hunt mismatches in the half-court.
When speaking to the media following a recent practice, Porzingis answered questions surrounding his shoutout, noting that it was a cool moment, but his focus remains on winning a championship.
âAs soon as I woke up, (there were) a lot of messages and people were like âOh, he shouted you out so it was pretty cool,’â Porzingis said. âI donât know, but I want to win a championship,â Porzingis said. âThis is obviously pretty cool to get shouted out by J. Cole. Nothing that I was like, you know, hoping for, but itâs pretty cool.â
This season, Porzingis, 28, has been a major addition to the Celtics. He’s averaging 20.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and two assists per game, shooting 51.8% from the field and 37.5% from the 3-point range.

The Celtics are currently in cruise control. They have cemented themselves as the top seed in the Eastern Conference and hold the best record in the NBA. Nevertheless, once the postseason begins, Porzingis will have a significant role to play, and part of that role will be creating and attacking mismatches.Â

About Cruise
"Cruise" is a song recorded by American country music duo Florida Georgia Line. It was first released to iTunes in April 2012 and then to radio in August 2012 as the first single from their extended play It'z Just What We Do. It was written by group members Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard with Joey Moi, Chase Rice, and Jesse Rice (no relation). It is included on their first album for Republic Nashville, Here's to the Good Times, which was released on December 4. "Cruise" is the best-selling country digital song of all time in the United States as of January 2014. The song is considered the foremost example of the genre of country music termed "bro-country". The recording by Florida Georgia Line reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 on its initial release, but dropped off the Hot 100 in February 2013. A couple of months later, a remix by rapper Nelly was released, and the song then re-entered the top 10. The song reached a peak of No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart in its 34th week, one of the slowest climbs to the top five in the chart's history. The song also logged 24 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs, becoming the longest-running No. 1 single on that chart at the time, until it was surpassed in 2017 by Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road". more »

The cruise was so popular they did it again the next year. Florida Georgia Line were a little-known duo when they recorded this song. Co-writer Chase Rice admitted to Taste of Country in a 2019 interview that he wasn't initially sold on Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley cutting "Cruise." "I wanted Luke Bryan or somebody big to cut it," he said.
