Karen's Diner On Tour to visit Stoke-on-Trent

The infamous Karen's Diner is out on tour across the UK, and will bring its pop-up experience to a secret location in Stoke-on-Trent this November.

At the pop-up Karen's you will get the full and authentic Karen experience, greeted and waited upon by rude waiters who will provide a deliberately unpleasant dining experience, and insult customers throughout their meal.

Your ticket includes entertainment from the world famous Karens and a main meal. With the option to upgrade to bottomless booze for 90 minutes.

Karen's Diner On Tour will be in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November, with tickets now on sale at  explorehidden.com .

Karen's FAQ's

• How Can I Book A Table? To book into a Karen's please either use the booking tool on the website or visit the locations page to secure your spot. If no availability is showing this means we are fully booked. If this happens you can try to walk-in but please note we cannot guarantee a seat and there may be long wait times.
• How Can I Amend My Booking? Open up your OpenTable booking and use the message feature with your reservation to inform us of changes - the team will then see if they can adjust for your group. You can also email [email protected] to change your reservation size.
• Can I Walk In? We can't stop you but we do encourage everyone to try and book online. We are extremely busy (go us) and therefore waits can be large and tables are not guaranteed without a booking.
• Do You Cater For Dietaries? Please check our menu in your location to see the different options we have but in general we do offer gluten free buns, vegetarian and vegan (lol) options. Our Melbourne & Sydney store also have Halal meat.
• I Want To Book A Large Group Or Private Event Aren't you popular? That's great though, really. If your group is too big for a regular old table booking on OpenTable then please fill in the form on the hire page.
• Is There A Minimum Age To Attend? At Karen's we require under 14s to be accompanied by a parent or guardian for our lunch service, while under 16s must be with a parent or guardian for dinner! Please note that language may be offensive and inappropriate - we do encourage anyone under 18 years to attend prior to 5pm.
• I Am A Karen Welcome home Kaz. If your name is actually Karen then flash your ID for a drink on us. If you're a Karen by nature not name, come on down hun.

Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian Warning - Rude language is used across our venues. We are not Disneyland. We recommend minors to not attend past 6pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends. Select location for opening hours

They cancelled and still no refund or communication

Our date was cancelled with 2 days notice after booking 9 months in advance. Zero communication since. Still no refund and out of pocket over £200. Can’t get hold of anyone despite trying everything.

Complete scam Glasgow cancelled no refund!

EDIT : PAUL LEVIN. - as UK operations manager can you guarantee us our money back? Complete scam. I booked tickets for Glasgow (12th August) back in June. On 6th August I get an email to say it's cancelled, offering two alternative dates, one being in Edinburgh. I can't attend either dates due to being out of the country for one, and the opposite end of the country for the other. I've asked for a £179 refund from them and the ticket agent - Hidden. Neither are responding. I believe this is a mass fraud. DO NOT BOOK.

Cancelled an hour before at Newcastle

Cancelled an hour before at Newcastle. No coincidence that Loosefest was cancelled and the venue advertised that they would open earlier so basically cancelled because the pub could earn more! Promised a refund in 7 days - nothing, then asked for my bank details. Still nothing! We were booked for 5th August and are now £178 out of pocket and from reading other reviews they having refunded others. Absolute disgrace

Avoid! Refunds due to them cancelling.

Really looking forward to this event however this was cancelled in our area, these things happen so that's fine. We have been promised a refund on July 11th as there is no other local ones however we still haven't received this. I regularly email however the response I get is chased with accounts.

Still waiting a refund

We booked with the tour and our venue was rearranged. Unfortunately for to holidays we were unable to make the new date so we requested a refund! That was over 2 months ago!!!! I have emailed repeatedly called and left messages and still no refund!!! I wouldn’t mind if it hadn’t been their decision to rearrange!!! Definitely following up with their terrible customer service reputation although waiting for £300 is not a laughing matter!!

Karen’s dinner is a total con, they took our money for a night in Plymouth, they cancelled last minute, my son works at the place they said it was at! They had never booked just took everyone’s money and won’t give any refunds.

Karen’s Diner Edinburgh Tour Was Absolute Garbage

Edinburgh Tour Was Absolute Garbage. Please do not waste your money on this total scam. What you see online in the full time diners is NOT what you get in the pop up tour. Waited 45 min in a narrow staircase to get seated. Another 40 mins to get any food and drinks - we knew to expect ‘bad service’ but this was on another level. Absolutely no interaction of any kind from KD staff, young KD ‘waiters’ thinking walking around with a sullen face is entertainment, a few swear words as the only ‘laughs’ Seriously a total waste of time and money. The global franchise should be ashamed and embarrassed at such a poor effort.

Waiting 5 months for a refund

I booked to go to the restaurant on 9th July 2023 in Bristol but just days before my friend and I were due to go, they emailed me to move the location of the restaurant to Wales. Karen’s offered me a refund which I promptly accepted. It’s now 1st December 2023 and I’ve still not received a penny back. I have chased them more than 10 times since July and have hardly received an acknowledgement in response. Although they have replied a couple of times with “chased again”. Don’t try to call them unless you’re fond of listening to hold music for well over an hour. I’m not sure how long it would take them to answer as I gave up after 1 hour 20 days minutes.

Stoke on Trent Rubbish

Stoke on Trent. Absolutely rubbish. Staff were too young and all they could say was f••k off, no real banter or roasting. Seated behind a pillar so could see absolutely nothing of what was really going on. Food was atrocious. Rubber burger which was way too small for the bap!! Would not recommend

Not even one star! Wouldn't bother booking, it was cancelled in our area have been promised a refund on various occasions still nothing... event was cancelled in July!! Don't waste your money booking as you won't get your money back you are entitled to when they cancel it!!! Only been even an email address to try and contact and no one gets back to you and when they do they just ask for the same information about your booking and say refund will come and nothing. Really bad customer service.

COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT BOOK

Booked for 12 people for the event in Bristol costing over £500 arrived at the venue for my 40th birthday for the barstaff to rudely tell us that the event had been cancelled by the organiser. Zero communication of this and had got the train for an hour there and hour back for no reason. Absolutely heartbreaking Now they won’t answer the phone or emails DO NOT BOOK

Had a booking for 4 at the Bristol venue on the 14th of October as a surprise , day before I got email saying it’s been cancelled , as if I wanted refund or tickets for December , I asked for refund which I still haven’t received! Have emailed so many times , so disappointed as it’s over £100 they owe me

Disgusting service

Disgusting service, cancelled on us, confirmed they would provide a refund and what a surprise no refund received. Now will not reply to my emails, Facebook messages, try to call their customer service number at 3.30pm on a Wednesday, and they say it is closed and open monday to friday until 6pm, like the refunds there customer service either don't want to bother working, cannot tell the time or cannot be bothered, surely reading all these reviews they should do something about it?

AVOID THESE EVENTS

Booked to go to a Karen's Diner pop up at a local venue. Without telling us, the event had been cancelled. I contacted Karen's & they tried to blame the venue saying the ghosted them. This was a lie as we know some of the people that work at the venue & tgey told us it had been cancelled because Karen's were changing agreements & asking for more money. I asked for a refund, to which Karen's said it would be given in 2-4 weeks. This was in June, still no refund & now Karen's aren't replying to my emails. I get Karen's Diner is a parody that is supposed to provide bad customer service & to be unprofessional, but it's by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. Looking at all the other bad reviews, I would advise to avoid these events & hopefully they'll go bankrupt & cease business.

One of the worst events I’ve been to!

Absolutely Awful! Don’t waste your money!! I’d give this a 0 if I could. Nothing like what we expected it was like being at a kids party! The entertainment was garbage no comedy value at all, just saying the ‘f’ word over and over again over a microphone isn’t called entertainment. We had paid for bottomless £46 each and considering this is a 90 minute event we were still waiting for the first round 45mins after arriving. Menu and drinks nothing like what was advertised, no cocktails either and when I finally got a gin it tasted like water! The Prosecco was also flat. Friends in the group who didn’t go bottomless were also ment to get a drink included in ticket price but were told they had to pay for them. Absolute rip off!!! Would have been better off going to McDonald’s!

Not to expectations

Worth the one time experience. Food is cold and very very dry. For £30 a ticket you'd expect to at least be able to eat the food even with it being karens diner. The games were fun but not many people got to take part as there was only 3 staff for 11 tables of 10 people. You expect the mick to be taken out of you but even when calling out that we had a person with a real name of Karen all she got was a fk you Karen (no free drink as advertised) It doesn't really live up to the hype that you see online and not everyone gets a hat with a stupid name. Some people on our table didn't manage to get involved with anything the whole time. Speaking of drinks they are expensive between 4 people we spend upwards of 70 quid on drinks (2 each) Overall tho the experience is worth the one time thing but not worth going again.

1 star is pushing it! Due to go to event sun 15th October in Bristol. Notified thurs 12th October that it was cancelled. Given option for refund which opted for on 12th and have heard nothing since (now 29th Oct). DO NOT BOOK

I purchased tickets for Karens Diner - Don't bother unless you want to be scammed

I purchased tickets for Karens Diner: On Tour for Leeuwaarden, they ended up cancelling the event (due to covid they said) and despite several emails and trying to contact via chat on their website etc, they did not respond or reimburse costs. Thankfully I managed to get my money back from my credit card company but it seems its a scam, either that or they are extending the concept of crappy service to committing fraud

Restaurants normally pride themselves on offering the best service they can and showing impeccable politeness to diners. But a chain of eateries has now arrived in the UK that aims to provide entirely the opposite - where vegan customers can expect to be booed and patrons wearing glasses should be prepared for insults.

Karen's Diner is named after the slang term referring to a particular type of woman perceived as being excessively demanding with an inflated sense of entitlement. It is an Australian phenomenon comprising novelty restaurants where the waiters and waitresses, effectively actors, try to be as rude and obnoxious as possible to guests.

Alongside this conceit, real food is served - and the first UK Karen's has opened in Sheffield, with another quickly following near Manchester. Alex Grove, content editor with Yorkshire Live , went to see what Britain can expect - and it seems the place is just as abrasive as advertised.

"When I heard a restaurant with rude staff and terrible service was coming to Sheffield, I knew I wanted to try it out," said Alex. "It’s already hugely popular in Australia - but us Brits are a funny bunch and I was really intrigued to see how it would work here.

"Upon walking in it was immediately obvious that we were in for a wild and offensive ride. We really were at the mercy of the waiters and waitresses who held nothing back and really went for it - in the best way possible."

Alex continued: "As soon as we walked in another diner was getting booed for being vegan and it wasn’t long before the moody and miserable front of house pointed us to our table. From then on, it was insult after insult, with savage jibes that made my toes curl.

"I honestly couldn’t praise the staff enough for how uncomfortable they made me feel. There is a reason this restaurant is only suitable for people who are over 16 - and it is definitely not the place for people who are easily offended."

Alex went on to describe what happened and listed some of the things the staff said. "One person with glasses was called a “ginger four eyes”, my friend got called “f****** embarrassing” when she ordered the vegan option and the waiters ripped up a drawing I spent a good 10 minutes on.

"With these things, you have to get into the spirit of it and I took it upon myself to release some inner rage and be narky towards the staff. It was actually quite cathartic to do that in a restaurant and while it’s not for everyone - some people will absolutely love it."

Alex said the food - burger and chips - was "chucked" on the table. Meanwhile the staff "really weren't happy" about requests for knives, forks and condiments.

"To round off the evening, the staff made a hat for me, which seemed like a nice gesture. That was until I looked at what was written on it (‘I have a small penis’)," said Alex.

"I have to admit, I was dubious about how far Karen’s would go and just how insulting, rude and terrible the whole experience would be. But I can honestly say they didn’t disappoint and I found myself in utter shock at some of the things they said and did."

To sum up, he said: "If you’re easily offended, avoid this place like the plague. If you want to experience this obscene novelty then get yourself booked in."
