Ijen Crater

Mount Ijen is an active volcano, just like Mount Bromo. Mount Ijen is really famous for its very interesting tourist objects. Ijen Blue Fire is an interesting tourist attraction. And there are only 2 in the world, namely Mount Ijen and Iceland. In addition, we can visit Blawan Waterfall, Damarwulan Hotspring and Wurung Savanah Crater. Mount Bromo

After the Ijen tour is over, we continue the journey for about 7 hours to the Mount Bromo area. It’s a pretty far trip from Banyuwangi to Mount Bromo, you can rest in the vehicle. After arriving at the hotel in Bromo, please rest to prepare for tomorrow’s tour

1st Day ; Ketapang Port – Banyuwangi hotel

• trip to Paltuding for 2 hours
• we start to climb mount ijen
• our local guide will accompany you during your trip to Ijen Blue Fire Tour
• we arrived at the top of Mount Ijen at 4 am
• enjoy the panorama of Ijen Blue Fire
• you will also enjoy the sunrise, the view of the ijen crater and the sulfur miners
• around 7 am, we return to the parking area
• at 10 am we arrived back at the hotel

• at 3.00 in the morning, jeep 4WD will pick you up from hotel, start the Mount Bromo Tour Package
• driving up the jeep 4WD to reach the Penanjakan Peak parking area in about 1 hour. Penanjakan Peak or Kingkong Hill or Love Hill, they are the right places to catch the sunrise view
• after  Mount Bromo Sunrise  View, we drive down the jeep 4WD to reach the sea of sand Mount Bromo parking area in about 30 – 45 minutes
• then we take a walk until we arrive at the Mount Bromo upstairs. By upstairs we walk until reach the rim of Mt Bromo Crater

• walk down until we reach the sea of sand and continue walking to the jeep bromo parking area

This tour is designed for any travelers who stay in Malang Town and want to explore Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen within three days. This trip will be ended in Bali Island and from Malang Town, you can start in the morning or afternoon, it’s basically flexible but if you wanted to see Madakaripura Waterfall on the way to Mount Bromo, we suggest starting in the morning, it can be at 9-10 am. • Mount Bromo

Mt. Bromo volcano in East Java is the active cone inside the giant Tengger caldera, one of Indonesia’s most scenic location destinations in East Java, famous for its magnificent sunrise views and the panorama over the caldera with Semeru volcano in the background.

Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen Volcano, on the island of Java, has two of the most unusual occurrences on Earth. The first is an active solfatara that emits hot, flammable sulfurous gases. These ignite as they enter Earth’s oxygen-rich atmosphere and burn with an electric blue flame. Some of the gas condenses in the atmosphere to produce flows of molten  sulfur  that also burn with an electric blue flame. The flames are difficult to see during the day but illuminate the landscape at night.

The second occurrence is a one-kilometer-wide caldera lake filled with turquoise-blue water. The color of the water is a result of its extreme acidity and a high concentration of dissolved metals. It is the world’s largest highly acidic lake with a measured pH as low as 0.5. The cause of its acidity is an inflow of hydrothermal waters charged with gases from a hot magma chamber below.

Mount Bromo Ijen crater Detail Program

Day 01. surabaya (airport/hotel) – cemara lawang .

We pick you up at your hotel in Malang. We drive in approximately four hours to the village of Cemara Lawang. We overnighted in the Bromo area to stay in a hotel overlooking the landscape and volcano Bromo.

Day 02.  Mount Bromo sunrise tour – Ijen | Mount Bromo Ijen crater

You will be wakened up at 03.00 a.m., have a cup of coffee or tea before we leave for a short drive – 40 minutes – to Pananjakan, the highest viewpoint in the area to see the sunrise. But, of course, whether you can see the sunrise depends on the weather conditions. Then we will descend to the Sea of Sand to see the crater of mount Bromo.

Afterward, we go back to the hotel to have breakfast. After that, we continue our trip and drive around 4 hours to Pasir Putih Beach to have lunch at a beachside restaurant.

Hereafter, we drive for another 3 hours before we arrive at the village Sempol/Blawan (Ijen area) to pass the night. You have time to explore the surroundings and spend some leisure time in the hotel if you like. There is, among others, a hot spring in the area.

Day 03. Ijen trekking – Surabaya | Mount Bromo Ijen crater

Around 01:00 am, the Ijen expedition team, will bring you to the parking area of Mount Ijen, around 50 minutes from the hotel. This trip crossed the Arabica coffee plantation. After arrival at the parking area, continued trekking to the Ijen crater it’s needed around 1.5 until 2 hours. trekking to the Ijen crater about 3Km ( 2.386m ). enjoying the wonderful blue fire/blue flame and acid lake.

After sunrise, the Ijen expedition team will bring you back to the parking area, on the way you can see the beautiful panorama and the sulfur miners. Around 1 hour you will arrive di the parking area, here you can drink some coffee or tea after that we continue to drive back to Malang,  Surabaya, Ketapang harbor. and the tour program finishes.

Java, Indonesia, offers an adventurous paradise for travelers seeking diverse activities amidst its unique natural landscapes. Whether hiking, visiting waterfalls, or climbing active volcanoes, Java provides ample opportunities for exploration. While both Bromo and Kawah Ijen are accessible destinations, the key to a successful trip lies in your physical fitness, as reaching these mountain peaks often involves covering several kilometers of terrain.

Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo, an active somma volcano situated in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java, Indonesia, is revered as the “Breath of God” due to its ongoing volcanic activity, allowing tourists to ascend to its crater. To fully experience Bromo, we recommend staying overnight in Semoro Lawang village, the closest accommodation to the volcano. Local jeep services are available to transport you into the park.

Most excursions typically begin around 03:00 AM. to reach Mount Penanjakan, a renowned sunrise viewpoint offering panoramic vistas of Mount Bromo and Mount Semeru in the backdrop. Vehicles descend to a parking area below the mountain line, from where you trek through volcanic ash fields for approximately 40-50 minutes. The terrain becomes increasingly steep, but if you prefer, local horses can be hired to ease the journey to the base of the mountain.

Continuing on foot, you encounter the steepest section, where a staircase of approximately 240 steps leads up to the crater rim. Here, visitors can witness the continuous emission of smoke from the crater. After conquering the summit, take time to explore the surrounding mountains and viewpoints or relax and enjoy the breathtaking views from your accommodations in the village before continuing your journey to Kawah Ijen.

Kawah Ijen, also known as Ijen, is a volcanic mountain range in Indonesia with its activity status monitored closely by the Indonesian Centre of Vulcanology and Geology Hazard Mitigation (CVGHM). Visitors to Kawah Ijen seek to witness its unique attractions: the “Blue flames” caused by burning sulfur and the turquoise sulfur lakes within its crater. These phenomena must be observed at different times, adding to the allure of visiting Kawah Ijen.

To experience the blue flames, visitors embark on a challenging nighttime hike. The journey begins with a 3-kilometer trek from the starting point to the rest area, taking approximately 2 hours. From there, it’s another kilometer hike to reach the location where the blue flames can be observed. After witnessing this extraordinary sight, visitors typically return to the original trail and continue for another kilometer to reach the viewpoint overlooking the turquoise sulfur lake in the morning. In total, exploring both the blue flames and the sulfur lake involves covering approximately 10 kilometers on foot. Despite the strenuous hike, the breathtaking views and unique natural phenomena make the journey to Kawah Ijen a truly memorable experience.

• Getting There: The most convenient way to reach Bromo is by flying to Jakarta or Bali airports in Indonesia, or Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia, followed by a flight to Surabaya Airport. From Surabaya, it’s a 3-hour drive to the village of Cemoro Lawang. Alternatively, you can take a 13-hour train journey from Jakarta to Probolinggo station, which is approximately 90 minutes away from Semoro Lawang village. From Bromo, you can continue to Kawah Ijen, which is about 200 kilometers away.
• Best Time to Visit: Bromo and Kawah Ijen can be visited year-round, but the recommended period is between April and October. From November to March, there is heavy rainfall, which can hinder outdoor activities.
• Climate: Both Bromo and Kawah Ijen are situated over 2,000 meters above sea level. While daytime temperatures can be warm, nights are significantly colder, averaging from 5 to10 degrees Celsius. It’s advisable to bring a sweater or jacket to stay warm during chilly evenings.

• 02:30 AM, visit the Pananjakan Peak by 4 WD Mount Bromo Jeep rental  for 30 minutes.
• 04.00 AM, Waiting for Mount Bromo Sunrise while see Mount Bromo Milky Way  if the condition is clear.
• Enjoy Mount Bromo sunrise tour  from Pananjakan Mount Bromo peak, From this place, other landscapes will seem like massive Sea of Sand, Mt Batok, Mt Kursi, Widodaren and Semeru volcano summit (the highest volcano in East Java Island).
