Edwards Air Force Base

Edwards Air Force Base is home to the Air Force Flight Test Center and has been the home of more major milestones in flight than any other place on earth. Covering nearly 301,000 acres, Edwards is located in the Mojave Desert, adjacent to the largest dry lake bed in North America: Rogers Dry Lakebed. Tours of the base are limited and groups wishing to tour the base are required to contact Edwards AFB in advance. The day-long tour includes the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum, a windshield tour of the Edwards flight line and a tour of NASA Dryden Flight Research Center. Plan a full day for the tour. For more information on touring Edwards, please go to http://www.edwards.af.mil/main/contactus.asp and select “Request a Tour” from the drop down menu. From Bakersfield: (1 hour 20 minutes, 83 miles) Take Highway 58 West toward Mojave. Take exit 186 toward Edwards AFB. Take the Murdoc Road South ramp toward Edwards AFB. Murdoc Road becomes North Rosmond Boulevard. Base access is required at this point.
