Luxury Cruises to Israel

Explore the ancient sites, cities, and historic ports of the Holy Land on a luxury cruise to Israel with Celebrity. Visit sacred temples, awe-inspiring museums, and natural wonders like the Dead Sea. Learn about thousands of years of religious and cultural heritage. Enjoy delicious cuisine that blends multiple cultures together with the bounty of the Mediterranean, and take in the breathtaking views of the sea as you do so.

Israel cruises will take you to ports like Ashdod, the gateway to Jerusalem, where you can walk in the footsteps of prophets and kings; and Haifa, where you can see the beautiful Bahá'í Gardens. You’ll also have the opportunity to take an excursion to see the biblical sights around Nazareth and the tranquil Sea of Galilee. No matter what you choose to do, a cruise to Israel is sure to be an adventure with the luxury amenities and world-class service that Celebrity is known for.

Israel Cruise Highlights

Religious sites.

On a cruise to Israel, you will visit some of the world's most important religious sites in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. In Jerusalem, visit the Western Wall and Dome of the Rock, and walk the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Take time to see the profoundly moving Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center. Travel to Bethlehem to see where Christ was born. Stand in awe at the site of Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River and gaze out over the Sea of Galilee.

Sandwiched between Israel and Jordan is the Dead Sea, a body of water that is the lowest point on earth and has such a high concentration of saline that no life can survive in it. Lie back in the water as the minerals keep you effortlessly afloat, and shop for beauty products made from healing Dead Sea mud. You’ll also visit mountaintop Masada, where Jewish Zealots were besieged by the Romans.

Jerusalem Old City

Jerusalem’s origins date back to 4000 BC, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. Touring the Old City is fascinating, as layers of history are peeled back; you can even see down through occasional glass-covered sections in the sidewalk to excavations dating back to Roman times and earlier. Follow in the last footsteps of Christ, and see ancient olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Take time to sample the local lunch specialty, hummus and falafel stuffed into a warm pita, with salad.

Holy Land's Significance

The description "Holy Land" as a distinct geographic area that encompasses the Palestinian territories, modern-day Israel, Jordan, and parts of Syria.

"Holy Land" is the term that in Judaism refers to the Israel Land. Non-Jews and Jews traditionally refer to this area as Palestine- "The Holy Land, or Palestine, with the Ancient Kingdoms of Judah and Israel in which the twelve Tribes have been distinguished.

The term is used also by Christians and Muslims alike to refer to the area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, i.e. it includes modern Palestine and Israel.

The Holy Land's significance stems partially from Jerusalem's religious significance- the holiest to Judaism city, the site of Jesus's ministry. Because of the holiness of this land to Christianity, it was a part of the motives for the Crusades against the Muslim Suljuq Turks- European Christians wanted to win Holy Land back. After defeating the Arabs, they had taken it over- Muslim Arabs in turn, had taken control of the Christian Byzantine Empire.

Many Holy Land religious sites have been pilgrimage and tour destinations for a long time and adherents of Abrahamic religions- Christians, Jews, Muslims, have often visited them. Pilgrims who visit these sites on group guided tours to Holy Land want to connect personally to Holy Land, touch and see the physical manifestations of faith; to confirm their beliefs with collective excitement.

Regarded as the holiest cities of Judaism, are the Four Holy Cities in Israel: Hebron, Tzfat, Tiberias, and Jerusalem (considered especially significant as the site of the Temple). Jerusalem is Mount Moriah, according to Jewish tradition, this is the location of the binding of Isaac. In the Hebrew Bible, it is mentioned about Jerusalem 669 times.

Christians consider the Land of Israel holy because they associate it with the birth, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus. All Christians regard Jesus as the Savior (Messiah). According to the Bible, the Holy Land territories are the land of the Jews, God's people. Christian books (including Bible editions) often had Holy Land maps, considered to be Samaria, Galilee, Judea.

And this is what the wise Wikipedia guys have to say on the subject of Holy Land and the world's major religions - Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.

This morning, join us for an excursion to Nicosia . The Cypriot capital has two faces and symbolizes two contrasting cultures united by a shared history. Brimming with gems to discover, Nicosia stands as the last officially divided European city. This afternoon, we'll start sailing towards Israel.

holy land cruise itinerary

Full-day excursion through Galilee including the Sea of Galilee (lunch included; approx. 9 hours total, including 4 hours round trip). The Sea of Galilee, a freshwater lake also known as Lake Tiberias or Kinneret in Hebrew, is the main water source in Israel and crystallizes for Christians the place where many of the events described in the Bible occurred. Our excursion will first take you to Cana (or Kafr Cana), where Jesus performed the miracle of transforming water into wine. We'll continue on to the Mount of Beatitudes, from where there are wonderful views of Lake Tiberias. This is the hill where Jesus is believed to have delivered his “Sermon on the Mount”. We'll next head for Tabgha, believed to be the most beautiful and peaceful of holy Christian sites and which was the scene of many Gospel stories, before moving on to Capernaum, the base camp for Jesus during his Galilean ministry.

holy land cruise itinerary

Full-day excursion to Jerusalem and Bethlehem (lunch included; approx. 12 hours total, including 4 hours round trip). In Bethlehem, we’ll visit the Church of the Nativity, which contains the grotto where many Christians believe Jesus was born. We’ll continue on to Jerusalem, considered holy ground by three religions—Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The old city contains over 200 historic sites, including the Wailing Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which encompasses the hill where Jesus was crucified and his tomb. We will also visit the colorful market where the three main religions live side by side.

holy land cruise itinerary

This morning, guided tour of Nazareth. We'll set off for our discovery tour of Nazareth, travelling through the lovely hills of Upper Galilee and the historic Jezreel Valley until we reach the spot where the Angel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary that she would give birth to the Messiah. We'll visit the Church of the Annunciation, the largest Catholic church in the Middle East and one of the holiest shrines in the Christian world. Then, we'll continue to the Greek Orthodox Church of St Gabriel, where the water from an underground spring flows through the apse and into the adjacent Mary's Well. Finally, we will visit St Joseph's Church, built in 1914 on the very spot believed to be the workshop of Joseph the carpenter.

This afternoon, We'll set off on a visit to Acre (Saint John of Acre), headquarters of the Knights Hospitaller during Crusades in the Holy Land. The old city of Acre, a UNESCO world heritage site, is home to many remarkable sites, such as ruins from the Greco-Roman period as well as from the time of the Crusades and the Ottoman Empire. Its fascinating historical heritage where East meets West and the unique ruins of the different cultures make it one of the most important cities of the ancient world.

Full-day excursion Masada and the Dead Sea (lunch included; approx. 12 hours total, incl. 5 hours round trip). Masada is one of Israel’s most popular tourist destinations. The breathtaking, strategic location is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of heroism and importance within Jewish culture. Masada was built in 30 BC by King Herod. When Israel began its great revolt against Rome in 68 AD, the site became a stronghold for Jewish rebels. The Romans besieged Masada in the year 72. Rather than be taken alive by their adversaries, the population of Masada chose to die by suicide. After our stirring visit to this important historical site, we will continue to the Dead Sea for lunch and an afternoon at the side of the pool or in the sea’s beneficial waters and muds.

holy land cruise itinerary

The morning will be spent sailing towards Cyprus.

In the afternoon, guided visit of the medieval Byzantine castle of Limassol. You will see the castle and its shady gardens. The current building, dating from the 13th century, was built on top of the ruins of a Byzantine castle and has been restored and destroyed many times during the history of Cyprus. The Venetians demolished it, the Ottomans turned it into a military building and the British used it as a colonial prison. Today it houses the medieval museum of Cyprus, with exhibits such as Ottoman pottery, medieval armor and everyday objects from the Byzantine era. The reception hall of the castle was where Richard the Lionheart, king of England, married Berangaria of Navarre in 1191. Enjoy some free time to do as you please.

This morning, excursion to Paphos Archaeological Park . Listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1980, this exceptional site features the Tombs of the Kings, a mysterious underground necropolis located amidst an almost deserted landscape. We'll then visit the houses of Dionysos, Theseus and Aion whose splendid mosaics were discovered by chance in 1962. A few kilometers further on, we will stop in the village of Yeroskipou to visit a small workshop where Loukoum (Cyprus Delight) is made, followed by a tasting session.

The afternoon will be spent sailing towards Larnaca.

Then, visit Golan Heights, a volcanic plateau, which offers spectacular views of the Sea of Galilee and the valley before. In the valley, you can take a wine tour, before heading back to the hotel.

Day 5, Tiberias : The day starts off driving to Tiberias, where you will visit Capernaum, a the site of an ancient synagogue, and a church believed to be on the site of St. Peter’s house. The next stop is Tabgha, the site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes. Continue on to Beth Shean, a Roman city filled with remains and an amphitheater. A stunning drive through Jordan River Valley will lead you to your hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 6, Jerusalem : The morning starts off with a guided walked of the Old City. This tours includes viewing the Western Wall, and the remains of the Second Temple. The afternoon leads you to follow the ancient Via Dolorosa path, the same path He walked on the way to his Crucifixion. At the end of the path is the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the site of the Crucifixion. The day allows for free time to explore Jerusalem at your own pace.

Day 7, Jerusalem : The morning starts off with a visit to Yad Vashem, a memorial dedicated in remembrance of the Holocaust. Later, tour the Israel Museum, where the 2000 year old Dead Sea scrolls are homed. In optional afternoon tour to Bethlehem (the biblical birthplace of Jesus) is offered. Today allows for more free time to explore Jerusalem on your own.

Day 8, Dead Sea : The morning starts with a drive along the Dead Sea, where you can see where the Dead Sea Scrolls you saw the day before were discovered. Arrive in Masada, a mountain-top fortress, and reach the top by cable car to explore the remains. The afternoon is spent at the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, where you can spend time leisurely laying on the beach. Because of the high salt content of the Dead Sea, take an opportunity to “float” on the water of the Dead Sea, and soak in the minerals. End the day visiting the Avaha Laboratories, where beauty products made from the minerals are created.

Day 9, Jerusalem : Enjoy your last full day with a morning walk of the Old City, winding through the cobblestone streets of Jerusalem filled with markets and souvenirs. Explore the history of Jerusalem at the Tower of David Museum. The rest of the afternoon is for your leisure, before ending the trip with a farewell dinner with your new travel friends.
