Imagine a dream holiday to the tropical island Zanzibar.  This bounty island is a paradise, offering the world’s most beautiful beaches and coral reefs. Miles and miles of white sandy beaches sprinkled with palm trees, surrounded by the clear azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Apart from laid-back beach life, Zanzibar also has a colorful culture and history. Stone Town is well worth a visit. This fascinating old city offers so many nice markets, restaurants and historical sightseeing’s.

Zanzibar Island is part of the Zanzibar archipelago, together with Pemba and Mafia and many smaller islands. These islands are also called the Spice Islands because of their rich history in the spice trade and many spice plantations. Great beach destinations to wash off the dust after your safari.

Zanzibar beaches

Zanzibar offers the world’s most beautiful beaches. Soft white sandy beaches surrounded by colourful coral reefs and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar island has about 25 beaches, sprinkled with fishing villages. Should you stay north or rather choose the south or east coast of Zanzibar?

North: Zanzibar’s best beaches are on the north and east coast of the island, all with crystal white sand and colourful coral reefs. Nungwi and Kendwa are one of the most popular beaches since they do not have to deal with high and low tides. It has a chilled atmosphere with numbers of restaurants, bars and accommodation options. So if you seek real peace and privacy you should visit another part of the island (like the east or south). The north is home to villages like Uroa, Pongwe, Kiwengwa, Nungwi and Kendwa.

East: At the east coast of the island you will find the most idyllic beaches. Along the eastern coastline runs a beautiful coral reef, a top world spot for snorkelling and diving. You can immerse yourself in the abundance of marine life, such as sea horses, turtles and many tropical fish. The beaches at this east coast are very tidal. During low tide you can take a walk on the beach and enjoy the ocean views. If you love wind- or kite surfing this is the right place for you. Matemwe beach is the longest and one of the most beautiful ones at this site of the island. Like in the north, there is a wealth of accommodation options.

South-East: This part of the island is known for its long stretch of soft sandy beaches. It is the best spot on the island for sailing or kite- and windsurfing, thanks to steady winds. Hop on a traditional wooden sailboat (dhow) and sail the ocean, or go swimming with dolphins at Kizimkazi (south). Here you will find little villages like Jambiani, Paje and Bwejuu. South-West: The south west coast is a bit more remote with fewer lodges and deserted beaches. The beaches in west and south of Zanzibar are less popular, although there are some beautiful beaches with gentle tides. If you visit the south, do not forget to go to Menia Bay Conservation Area. This is a spectacular underwater world for divers. The western coast is home to the fascinating old Stone Town, the cultural and historical centre of Zanzibar.

Best time to visit Zanzibar

The most popular time to visit Zanzibar is during the dry season, from June to October and from December to February. However, Zanzibar Island is a great beach destination all-year round. Even during the wet season (mid-March, April, May, November) it is beautiful, since the rain showers don’t last much longer than 30 minutes and the temperatures still remain around 28 C. February is the hottest month in Zanzibar (average 28 C), while July (average 24 C) is the coldest. Given its tropical climate, it’s always a good time to visit Zanzibar.

The beaches, spice farms, forests and little villages are so beautiful. The only drawback i can think of is the lack of museums, but it can also be I did not went to the right places. There are so many nice restaurants and bars on the island where you can eat delicious local or western meals and dance.”

The very definition of a beachside bliss, this archipelagic gem – with its perfectly soft sands lying next to warm, turquoise waters, brimming with vibrant coral and tropical fish – is the ideal spot to flop and drop for four fun-filled days. Discover the blend of cultures in the local cuisine, wander the winding alleyways of historic Stone Town, delight your senses on an optional guided spice tour, or simply lay back and relax on one of Zanzibar’s world-renowned beaches.

• Dine on sumptuous seafood or simply swing in a hammock, the choice is yours with a full day at leisure on Zanzibar’s Northern beaches.
• Discover flawless beaches of powder-white sand and translucent waters on an island paradise that not even a postcard can do justice.
• On Short Breaks, you maintain a good level of independence and freedom, with the added bonus of having the details sorted out for you. You’ll have lots of free time and you won’t be accompanied by a Trip Leader. This means that all included activities and tours will be run by different local Intrepid partners, and these may operate independently from each other. The included activities and transfers will operate on a join-in basis, which means that you could have your Adventure all to yourself, or others may join you along the way. Jambo! Welcome to Zanzibar, Tanzania – an archipelagic gem filled with idyllic beaches, vibrant markets and a varied, and sometimes dark, history. This is a place rooted in slavery, where Arabian sultans once lived and Swahili and Islamic influences blend together to create an exotic island paradise steeped in centuries of history. With no planned activities today, why not throw yourself into the midst of Stone Town’s maze of narrow streets – every twist and turn alive with an enticing mix of fragrant bazaars, enchanting mosques and charming ruins. Perhaps head to one of the bars on the seafront and soak up the salty ocean air with a cocktail in hand.

An arrival transfer is included today. Please provide your flight details at the time of booking so that you will can met on arrival and transferred to your Stone Town hotel.

Venture out of Stone Town this morning and drive to the spice plantations for a guided tour to learn all about the history of this town's renowned spice trade. Take the opportunity to touch, smell and taste various spices – such as cinnamon, vanilla and ginger – then sample some delicious teas! After lunch, head to the northern beaches, where white sands and sparkling blue seas await. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure – this is the Indian Ocean at its best.

Wake up in paradise and enjoy a full day of freedom to indulge in the beautiful island surrounds. Take the opportunity to snorkel in the transparent waters, walk the stretch of powder white sand and paddle in the bath-like Indian ocean, dine on freshly caught sumptuous seafood or simply relax in a hammock underneath a coconut tree with a good book. There are many ways you can spend your day – perhaps talk to your leader for any recommendations.

Transfer from the resort to Zanzibar Airport for your departure flight and the end of your beach break.

From Stone Town the easiest option is to fly out of Zanzibar Airport. However, if you have arranged to fly out of Dar es Salaam Airport ferries depart Zanzibar at 7.30 am, 9.30 am, 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm. It's important to allow enough time to get back to the mainland if you need to catch your departing flight from Dar es Salaam. Speak to your leader about the best way to do this.

If you wish to stay on in Zanzibar, post trip accommodation can be pre-booked at the north coast beach bungalow or in Stone Town.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, our staff will be waiting to receive you at the airport. We kick start your holiday with a visit to Stone Town and a spice tour. Below is a brief regarding the day tours Stone tour: This is a walking tour that takes you through the fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the former slave market for the East African Slave trade, and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. The architectural style of Stone Town buildings is a unique mixture of various influences and cultures. You will see Zanzibar's bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals, and countless mosques! Stone Town has some excellent gift shops with plenty of souvenirs and handicrafts to choose from. A guided walk through this colorful and alternating city with tour knowledgeable tour guides, who know not only the fun of Stone Town but also cruel stories to tell about the life of the old times in Stone Town. Stone town tour is a walking tour and takes almost 3 hours of walking in the narrow streets. Spice Tour: The history of Zanzibar would be incomplete without the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices which are essential ingredient in a Zanzibar's everyday life, it is the island's connection to spices and herbs. Zanzibar and Spice is a romantic entanglement that dates back to the 16th century. Apart from being an important commodity on the trade routes. They can be seen in the plantations just outside Zanzibar town, this is also a fantastic opportunity to see the countryside and rural areas of Zanzibar and also connect with local people. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in-depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and detailed descriptions about their uses in traditional dishes, as cures for ailments and even for dyeing traditional ceremonial outfits for weddings and festivals. We have knowledgeable guides trained by a famous herbalist in Zanzibar Mr. Madawa. Our guided walking tour passes through villages and spice plantations, a walk through the farms as spice farms workers climbs trees, seek out specific plants and cuts off various barks, letting you see, feel and taste everything. You will be decorated with palm leaf accessories such as ties, rings, bracelets and glasses. At the Spice farms you will have an opportunity to taste some of the exotic fruits of Zanzibar. Later you will be transferred to the hotel for check in.

Day 02 FREE DAY IN ZANZIBAR

Today we let you enjoy the beach and the hotel facilities. Zanzibar has some of the most beautiful beaches. Enjoy a swim in the ocean or a relaxing spa treatment in the hotel spa or just a stroll at the beach rest of day at leisure.

Day 03 MNEMBA ISLAND TRIP

Today we visit an Island where we can enjoy diving and snorkeling Mnemba Island Mnemba Island is an atoll set just off the northeast coast near Matemwe. Diving at Mnemba is stunning, on the inside it's like being in a giant aquarium and the outside offers excellent wall and drift dives. The island itself is a breeding ground for turtles and they are often seen gliding by along with dolphins, huge schools of fish, whale sharks and humpbacks when in season. What makes Mnemba Atoll different to diving from town is the amount of schooling fish, from Striped Snapper, Surgeon Fish and up to ten green Turtles can be seen on one dive. If you look hard enough you will find the masters of disguise the Frog Fish who camouflage themselves so that they are not seen by predators. This dive is one not to be missed if you are planning a dive trip to Zanzibar. Enjoy full day there including sea food lunch. Later you will be dropped back to the hotel. Mnemba Atoll is a popular scuba diving site, with a wide variety of corals and associated species, as well as good sightings of larger species such as turtles and dolphins. Calm conditions are most frequent in September and October, though visibility is at its optimum in January.

Day 04 SUNSET TRADITIONAL DHOW CRUISE

Spend the morning at leisure in the hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a cruise in the ocean SUNSET DHOW CRUISE: 16:30 to 18:30 After you step on� board the vessel, the skilled crew onboard take the dhow about 1km away from the shore by means of an engine, once out in the sea the engine is shut off and during a tense moment the skillful crew put up the sail, once the sail is in favor of the wind, the guest can sit back, relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the ocean as you hear the ripple of water on the sides of the dhow as it glides swiftly through the clear turquoise water. Our sunset cruises leave Stone Town in the late afternoon to cruise along the coast, slicing through the clear turquoise water. The sounds of the bustle of busy people in Stone Town grow faint in the distance until they seem there, only in a memory, as the dhow sail you will be served with sodas drinking water, and Zanzibar light snacks which will encourage you to sink back into the dhow bench and enjoy the romance of Zanzibar Island while the sun sets down with its beautiful orange colors. Your breath will be taken away by the wonder of the fiery goldensun setting beyond the horizon as it makes the sky a magical canvas of shades of pinks, purples, blues and orange. As you head back for stone town the wind gently blows into the Latin sail which is truly mesmerizing. Rest of the evening in the hotel
