Top Product Overview

Top products, heys britto transparent 21" carry-on spinner luggage.

Heys Britto Transparent 21' Carry On Spinner Luggage (Transparent Butterfly)

The Britto is a very interesting suitcase because it features a semi-transparent shell. It’s not fully see-through, but you can definitely get a glimpse of the contents of the luggage through the shell.

That’s partially because of the design of the polycarbonate shell, and partially because there’s no lining inside the suitcase. There are also no dividers inside; instead, you get tie-down straps in each of the packing compartments.

Another thing to note is that, because there is no lining, the mechanism of the wheel handle is entirely exposed. I think this is a bit of a downside since if you ever have to oil the mechanism, there’s no barrier between the handle and the contents of the luggage.

Other than this weird feature, the Britto is a pretty good suitcase. It features a sturdy polycarbonate shell, single spinner wheels, and a height-adjustable wheel handle. The capacity is expandable and the suitcase can fit a total of 50 liters when expanded, while weighing just 5.9 lbs empty. The minimal weight is partly because of the lack of all the extra features.

  • Interesting design of the shell
  • Polycarbonate construction
  • Spinner wheels
  • TSA-approved lock
  • Telescopic wheel handle
  • No internal pockets or dividers

Product Information

  • Dimensions: 21" x 14" x 9"
  • Weight: 5.9 lbs
  • Capacity: 50 liters (expanded)

Heys Vantage Slate Blue 21” Carry-On Luggage

Heys Vantage Slate Blue 21 Inches Carry-On Luggage, Slate Blue

The Vantage is one of the more expensive luggage collections from Heys, but it’s a really good suitcase. It is made from pure polycarbonate, so the shell is very durable and features excellent impact resistance.

This Heys luggage is special because it’s got an easily accessible front compartment, which is great for items you want to keep within reach. This compartment is perfect for storing a laptop, tablet, and some other accessories, especially if you anticipate you’ll have to work at the airport and want to have easy access to your electronics.

The suitcase also features double spinner wheels, a TSA-approved combination lock, an expandable capacity, and a height-adjustable wheel handle. The interior is split into two packing compartments, with tie-down straps at the bottom and a full-panel zippered divider with pockets at the top.

It’s worth noting that the top compartment is about half the size of a regular luggage compartment because of the external pocket. The bottom compartment is full-sized, and the luggage still has a very generous capacity. It’s a really good piece of luggage overall, especially for travelers who prefer suitcases with external pockets.

  • Easily accessible laptop compartment
  • Durable polycarbonate shell
  • The capacity is expandable
  • TSA-friendly lock
  • Double spinner wheels
  • Quite heavy for a carry-on
  • The external pocket can’t be locked
  • Dimensions: 21" x 14.5" x 9"
  • Weight: 8.3 lbs
  • Capacity: 54 liters (expanded)

Heys Neo 26” Spinner Luggage

Heys America Neo 26-Inch Hardside Spinner Luggage (Fuchsia)

The Neo luggage from Heys America is an option to consider if you love colors and want to stand out. The main advantage of this suitcase is that it’s available in some very bright colors, so you should be the first one to spot your luggage at baggage claim.

The downside is that the shell of the luggage is made from a polycarbonate composite. This usually means that polycarbonate is mixed with ABS plastic, which ultimately decreases the overall durability of the luggage. On the other hand, it also decreases the weight and price of the suitcase, and the Neo is incredibly lightweight and surprisingly affordable for its size.

Other features of the Heys Neo suitcase include double spinner wheels, a TSA-friendly lock, and a height-adjustable wheel handle. The packing compartment is split in two and has an expandable capacity.

The interior of this suitcase is fully lined with tie-down straps at the bottom and a full-panel zippered divider at the top. You get two small pockets on the divider, and that’s great for keeping your belongings organized while traveling.

Overall, the Neo is a good piece of luggage, especially if you want something lightweight, affordable, and easily noticeable. But it’s not the best option in terms of durability and impact resistance.

  • Internal pockets
  • Double-spinner wheels
  • Available in bright colors
  • Very lightweight
  • The shell is not pure polycarbonate
  • Dimensions: 26” x 17” x 10.5”
  • Weight: 8.4 lbs
  • Capacity: 81 liters (expanded)

Heys America Leopard 30” Spinner Luggage

Heys America Leopard 30-Inch Hardside Spinner Luggage (Brown Leopard)

The Leopard spinner is another excellent option for travelers who want easily noticeable checked suitcases. This 30” case features a brown leopard print on the shell, which you’re bound to notice the moment it shows up at baggage claim.

The suitcase is also very lightweight, and that’s mostly because of the polycarbonate composite material it’s made from. It’s not quite as durable as pure polycarbonate, but it’s certainly a lot lighter, and more durable than luggage made from cheaper types of plastic.

This Heys America suitcase also features double spinner wheels, a height-adjustable wheel handle, a TSA-approved lock, and an expandable capacity. Its interior is fully lined and equipped with a zippered divider at the top, as well as adjustable divider pads at the bottom.

There are four pockets inside the suitcase, which is great for keeping your belongings organized. Also, it’s worth noting that this luggage boasts a capacity of 133 liters when expanded, making it an excellent option for long trips. The top and side grab handles are cushioned, so picking up a fully packed suitcase shouldn’t be a painful experience.

  • Lightweight and durable
  • Large capacity
  • Four internal pockets
  • Noticeable design
  • The shell is not made from pure polycarbonate
  • Dimensions: 30" x 20" x 12" -
  • Weight: 11.1 lbs
  • Capacity: 133 liters (expanded)

Heys Marvel Comics 21” Carry-On Luggage

Heys Marvel Comics 21 Inches Carry-On Luggage, Comics

The Marvel Comics luggage is probably the best option for any avid Avengers fans out there. The suitcase shell is adorned with Marvel Comics images, making the luggage easier to spot at baggage claim.

Durability-wise, the suitcase could be a bit better. It’s made from an ABS and polycarbonate composite, so it’s not quite as durable as luggage made from pure PC. However, that should matter most when looking for checked luggage, and it’s absolutely not as important as much for carry-ons.

However, this Heys luggage disappoints in other areas as well. It doesn’t have a TSA-approved lock (or any other lock for that matter), and it only has one zippered pocket inside the packing compartment. Sure, there’s a full-panel divider at the top and tie-down straps at the bottom, but a single zippered pocket won’t help you that much with organization.

The suitcase also features single spinner wheels, a height-adjustable wheel handle, and an expandable capacity. It’s not a bad piece of luggage per se, but it’s not one of my top three picks in terms of build quality and useful features. If you’re a Marvel fan and you can let the downsides slide, it’s still a decent piece of luggage with an affordable price point.

  • Internal zippered divider
  • Not made from pure polycarbonate
  • No locks on the luggage
  • Single internal pocket
  • Dimensions: 21" x 12.5" x 9.5"
  • Weight: 6.3 lbs
  • Capacity: 40 liters

Heys America Astro Iridescent 3-pc Set Spinner Luggage

Heys America Astro Iridescent Spinner Luggage (Silver, 3pc Set)

The Astro Iridescent spinner luggage set is a solid option if you need multiple pieces of luggage. The set is good value for money and includes three suitcases – a 21” carry-on, a 26” medium checked case, and a 30” large checked case.

This luggage is special because of the iridescent color of the shell. You can get the suitcases in a few different color options, and no matter which one you choose, the exterior will be holographic. It’s definitely a selling point for me, and if you want suitcases that stand out and are easily noticeable on the luggage carousel, this is certainly a good option.

The Astro luggage also features an expandable capacity, a telescopic wheel handle, double spinner wheels, and a TSA-approved combination lock. The interior of the suitcases is fully lined with tie-down straps at the bottom, a full-panel zippered divider at the top, and three zippered pockets inside the suitcase.

The main downside of this beautiful luggage is the material. It’s made from a polycarbonate composite, and that’s rarely as durable as pure polycarbonate, especially since there are no corner reinforcements on the luggage. Also, the shiny shell is prone to scratches and the suitcase won’t look brand new for too long.

  • The iridescent color of the suitcase shell
  • An expandable capacity
  • Multiple internal pockets
  • The shell is prone to scratches
  • Not ultra-durable
  • Dimensions: 21" x 14.2" x 8.7"
  • Weight: 31 liters
  • Capacity: 6.3 lbs

Heys America NHL Officially Licensed Wheeled Luggage

Heys America NHL Officially Licensed Wheeled Luggage (Montreal Canadiens, 26-Inch)

The NHL luggage is easily the best option for any avid hockey fans out there. The suitcase designs are officially licensed, so the luggage is proper NHL merch. However, there aren’t too many different teams to choose from, so there’s no guarantee you’ll find a suitcase sporting the logo of your favorite hockey team.

I would recommend this luggage even to people who aren’t big hockey fans because it’s a seriously good deal. The suitcases are discounted and you can currently get a 26” spinner for less than $120. That’s amazing, especially because the luggage is very similar in construction to some pricier collections.

It’s made from a polycarbonate composite, with single spinner wheels, a telescopic wheel handle, and an expandable capacity. There are no locks on the NHL suitcases, and that’s one of the main problems with the luggage.

The interior is fully lined with a zippered divider in the top compartment and elastic cross straps in the bottom one. There’s only one zippered pocket inside the suitcase.

Overall, the NHL luggage is certainly worth considering because of the low price point, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth more than it’s selling for. These are very basic suitcases and I wouldn’t recommend them to any frequent travelers because I have doubts about their durability.

  • Official NHL merchandise
  • Full-panel zippered divider
  • Just one pocket inside
  • No locks on luggage
  • Not the most durable option
  • Dimensions: 26" x 17.5" x 10.5"
  • Weight: 8.1 lbs
  • Capacity: 95 liters

Heys Airlite 21” Carry-On Luggage

The Airlite is my favorite suitcase from Heys Luggage, and it’s only 98% because it’s available in a gorgeous dusty pink color. Jokes aside, this luggage is a serious contender for any frequent traveler because of the excellent Duraflex material used for its construction. The material is very flexible and lightweight, which makes for a very durable but impressively light suitcase.

Heys Luggage claims that the suitcase can withstand being hit by 4,000 lbs and the shell won’t break, which honestly sounds impressive. They’ve also included loads of photos of people standing on the suitcase to illustrate just how durable the shell is.

Apart from excellent impact resistance, this luggage also features double spinner wheels, a height-adjustable wheel handle, a TSA-friendly lock, and an expandable capacity. There are also top and side grab handles, and I have to point out that all the accents match the color of the suitcase’s body.

The interior of the case is fully lined and equipped with tie-down straps at the bottom and a full-panel zippered divider at the top. There’s one large mesh pocket on the divider, so you’ll be able to keep some stuff organized. Overall, this is definitely one of the best suitcases you can buy from Heys Luggage, at least in terms of durability and performance for the price.

  • Duraflex shell
  • Internal compartment
  • No corner reinforcements
  • Dimensions: 21” x 14.5” x 9”
  • Weight: 6 lbs

Heys Airline-Approved Smart Luggage

If you’re a fan of technology and you like messing around with gadgets, this suitcase was made for you. It’s not just a smart suitcase, but it’s probably the smartest suitcase you can buy for a reasonable price, barring those AI-powered cases that follow you around.

This luggage has built-in Bluetooth that allows you to control the TSA-approved lock, set a proximity alarm that will beep if you’re too far away from your suitcase, and check exactly how much your luggage weighs. The features are awesome, and what’s even better is that the luggage is powered by two AAA batteries that you don’t have to remove upon boarding.

Also, this suitcase is made from pure polycarbonate for the absolute best durability and performance. It features double-spinner wheels, a height-adjustable wheel handle, and a fully lined packing compartment with two zippered pockets.

This suitcase doesn’t feature an expandable capacity, so make of that what you will. It’s got a zippered divider in the top packing compartment and tie-down straps in the bottom one, for easier organization when traveling.

It’s also one of the most expensive pieces of luggage from Heys, but honestly, it’s worth every penny because the built-in scale feature alone could save you a lot of money in overweight baggage fees!

  • Smart features
  • One of the priciest suitcases
  • The capacity is not expandable
  • Dimensions: 26" x 18" x 10.5"
  • Weight: 8 lbs
  • Capacity: 70 liters

Heys Cruze 21” Carry-On Luggage

The Cruze luggage collection is probably what I would recommend to people who are looking for ultra-durable suitcases. These cases were made from pure polycarbonate, plus all the Cruze luggage is equipped with corner reinforcements for better impact resistance. If you’re a frequent traveler and you need luggage that can withstand taking a beating, this is the best Heys collection for you.

I should also mention that the corner guards are made from metal, for the absolute best durability. In addition to the high-quality shell construction, this luggage also features double spinner wheels, a telescopic wheel handle, a TSA-friendly combination lock, and an expandable capacity.

One downside of those metal reinforcements is that the case is heavier than most other carry-ons, but that’s a small price to pay for a massive increase in durability. Also, this suitcase has one of the best interiors I’ve seen from Heys Luggage.

It’s fully lined and split into two packing compartments. The bottom compartment features adjustable tie-down straps and a zippered pocket, while the top compartment has a full-panel zippered divider with two mesh pockets. Overall, the Cruz is probably one of the best pieces of luggage Heys makes, and I doubt you’ll have any regrets if you get it.

  • Very durable suitcase
  • Metal corner reinforcements
  • Heavier than other Heys luggage collections
  • Dimensions: 21" x 14.7" x 8.7"
  • Weight: 6.8 lbs
  • Capacity: 48 liters (expanded)

What To Look For

I’ve included only hardside luggage in this review and that’s because it’s the most popular option from Heys. Hardshell luggage is generally more durable than softshell luggage, so it’s a solid option whether you want a carry-on or a checked case.

Polycarbonate is generally the best material for hardside luggage. It’s lightweight and flexible, so suitcases made from PC tend to last longer. Polycarbonate composites are not quite as durable but tend to be lighter and more affordable. Heys also uses Duraflex material, which performs as well as pure polycarbonate.

Another thing to note is that you should look for luggage with reinforced corners if durability is your main concern.

Heys manufactures luggage in many different sizes, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a suitcase that’s the right size for you. I think that all the luggage featured in this review is available in both carry-on and checked bag sizes, plus most collections also feature a luggage set that’s the best value for money if you need multiple pieces of luggage.

Special Features

Are there any special features you want to have on your luggage? If there are, you should definitely try to find a suitcase that includes them and not settle for anything less. This brand offers one excellent option for travelers who like luggage with smart features, and it’s one of the smartest suitcases available on the market.

Other features you’ll see in most Heys suitcases are TSA locks, internal pockets, and dividers. There’s also one suitcase with an external compartment, and it’s the best option for travelers who like keeping their luggage organized.

Heys Luggage: Our Top 3 Choices

If you’re still not sure which Heys suitcase would work best for you, go with one of my top three picks depending on what you’re prioritizing in your ideal luggage.

The Smart luggage is easily one of my top three picks. It’s one of the smartest suitcases that money can buy with a TSA-approved lock that you can control through an app on your phone. The luggage also features a built-in scale and a proximity alarm. It’s made from durable polycarbonate, with spinner wheels, internal pockets, and a height-adjustable wheel handle.

I recommend the Cruze to anyone who wants ultra-durable luggage. The suitcases from this collection are all made from pure polycarbonate with metal reinforcements on the corners for the best durability and impact resistance. The bags also feature multiple internal pockets, an expandable capacity, and a TSA-friendly lock.

Finally, get the Vantage suitcase if you’re someone who likes having several pockets on your luggage. You’ll like the external compartment on this suitcase, which helps with organization and keeps your electronics easily accessible. The Vantage is also made from durable polycarbonate for excellent impact resistance and protection, along with expandable capacity and a TSA-friendly lock.

  • Made from 100% pure polycarbonate, the most durable, flexible and lightweight material we have ever used in our luggage, each piece features a front-access system allowing luggage to be easily accessible, making packing easier and more organized
  • Each piece features built-in TSA lock with bonus standard TSA combo lock and has 360 degree spinner wheels allowing for effortless motion in different terrains

What To Put On A Luggage Tag? The Information You Need To Write To Properly Label Your Suitcase

Last Updated on April 25, 2021

When filling out a luggage tag you want to include as much information as you can to increase the chances that you will be reunited with any lost luggage.

However you don’t want to include any personal information that might put your home at risk.

This post is about what to write on your luggage tag and what information it might be better not to write.

Read on and you’ll know how to properly tag your luggage so you can travel with confidence.

You Should Put This Luggage Tag Info

You should write the following contact information on your luggage tag to help you be reunited with lost luggage.

  • Your First Name & Last Name
  • Cell Phone Number – Make sure you include the country code, especially if you are traveling internationally.
  • Hotel Destination Number – If you are traveling somewhere that your cell phone won’t work then you might want to include the hotel phone number. Slide in a slip of paper rather than writing it permanently on the card.
  • Your Email Address – It’s usually a good idea to write your email address.
  • Work Address – If you want to include a physical address then a work address might be more appropriate than a home address.

What Not To Put On Luggage Tags

For safety it might be best not to write your home address or to include any home phone numbers.

The concern is that writing your home address advertises that your property might be unoccupied putting it at risk for burglary while you are on vacation.

The same logic applies to writing your home phone number. What better way to check that nobody is at home than by calling the home phone. Also, it might also be possible to do a reverse address lookup using your home phone number.

The main reason not to write your home phone number is that if you lose your luggage while on vacation you won’t be at home to take the call telling you where the luggage ended up.

What is the purpose of a luggage tag?

A luggage tag has a few roles.

  • A luggage tag helps you quickly identify your bag from the luggage carousel and stops other passengers from picking it up by mistake.
  • A luggage tag allows you to personalize your suitcase and add some style.
  • A luggage tag provides contact information in the case that luggage is lost

The 3rd role is probably the least important. The luggage label that airlines print at the airport and stick to your luggage has all the info required to reunite you with your suitcase.

That means that the main function of a luggage tag is to differentiate your suitcase from the pack and to add your own style and personality to your suitcase.

For example, these bright yellow tags would make your luggage easy to spot.

hays travel luggage labels

You could also add a luggage strap or luggage stickers to further make your bag stand out from the crowd.

Once you’ve personalized your suitcase it’s a good idea to take a photo of your luggage before you check it in. That way if it gets lost you’ll be able to send the airline a photo of the missing bag.

How To Put On A Luggage Tag

If your luggage tag is attached using luggage tag loops attaching them to your suitcase can be confusing.

This video gives you a good demonstration how to attach a luggage tag to your suitcase using loops.

The Verdict

Luggage tags are not essential but they can be nice to have. The information printed out by the airline on their tag should be enough to identify your suitcase should it get lost.

However an extra tag never hurts and the airline printed label could be damaged.

Luggage tags can help personalize your luggage and make your suitcase easier to identify at the baggage claim carousel. They can help prevent another passenger from mistakenly picking up your suitcase.

There is a chance someone could have the same suitcase and the same luggage tag. So check the name on the tag when you pick up any bag to make sure it belongs to you.

And they can also just be cool and a good way to accessorize your suitcase and give it a bit of style.

The best way to avoid losing luggage is not to check it in the first place. If you learn to travel light you will be able to avoid checked baggage fees. You also won’t be troubled by as much anxiety about losing your luggage.

Having said that, a luggage tag is still a good idea for carry-on luggage. You never know when you might be forced to gate-check a carry-on bag if there is limited space in the overhead bins.

There is also the slim chance that a passenger has the exact same type of carry-on luggage as you. A luggage tag will help to avoid someone grabbing the wrong bag from the overhead bin.

Printing boarding passes and labels?

Manchesterford

Hello everyone,

Can I just check how ‘essential’ it is to print off boarding passes and luggage labels beforehand? We don’t have easy access to a printer and it feels like there’s quite a bit of effort to put in before we even arrive at the port - and due to various circumstances, there isn’t a lot of time to play around with. Can most/all admin tasks effectively/realistically be achieved when we get to Southampton?

I'm not sure about the rest but I know that when we arrive at the terminal our luggage just goes in "the hole in the wall" outside and is next seen outside the cabin.  It would be a bit of a palaver  to get labels in the terminal then take the cases back out again, even if it was possible.

Someone else will probably be better at explaining things.

If you have booked through a travel agent they should be able to print out the boarding pass and labels for you.  The baggage handlers have access to luggage labels.

I’m not sure but you should be ok without boarding pass but it will take a bit longer. Presume you have covid pass on phone.

For the boarding pass, on my last cruise I had contemplated simply transferring the QR code on the pass to Apple Wallet in my phone so it could be scanned (as I do with all other boarding passes, membership cards, etc.)

In the end I didn't but took a paper copy, and as it turned out the check-in desk stamped the paper with an 'OK to board' stamp that was then checked before passing through the security scanners.

Not having the paper copy - I am sure it would have been resolved but it would likely have delayed things slightly.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Moscow

  • High season is considered to be January, February and December. The cheapest month to fly from the United States is January.
  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Moscow flight deals.
  • Moscow Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) consists of two terminals, Terminal A and Terminal D. The former is the main terminal that serves most international and domestic flights. Terminal D mostly serves flights arriving from North Caucasus. The terminals are a short walk from each other as they are adjacent and are connected by walkways.
  • Passengers arriving at Moscow Domodedovo International Airport (MDE) can utilize the airport’s shower facilities to freshen up before leaving the airport. Showers are available in the Left Wing of the International Arrivals Area.
  • Passengers looking to explore MDE luggage-free are welcome to leave their luggage at the airport’s storage lockers. You can find the lockers Landslide of the International Arrivals Area and on the Ground Floor of the Domestic Arrivals.
  • Gadget-totting travelers can charge their devices at MDE. The airport offers stand-alone charging stations in every waiting lounge. You can also rent battery chargers from the Left Luggage room.
  • Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) is completely smoke-free in the terminals. However, the airport offers designated smoking pavilions to accommodate smoking passengers. The smoking pavilions are outside at the terminals’ entrances.
  • For flights to Moscow, travelers have four different airports to choose from: Domodedovo International Airport (DME), Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), Vnukovo International Airport (VKO), and Zhukovsky International Airport (ZIA). However, most travelers will be flying into either Domodedovo International Airport or Sheremetyevo International Airport, as they are by far the most popular of the four airports.
  • Getting from Sheremetyevo International Airport to downtown Moscow is simple, thanks to the Aeroexpress, which connects directly to both Belorussky Railway Terminal and Okruzhnaya station. From either station, you can head to a number of locations across Moscow in no time.
  • Looking to head straight to the hotel after your flight to Moscow? If you are landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport, the Novotel Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel is within walking distance of the airport’s terminals. For Domodedovo International Airport, on the other hand, there is the Domodedovo AirHotel, which is located just half a mile away from the airport and offers free transfers to and from the airport.
  • If you need to get between Domodedovo International Airport and Sheremetyevo International Airport, your best bet is to take a combination of the Aeroexpress and the Moscow Metro. There is even a special “Between Airports” ticket available for purchase at the Aeroexpress ticket office.
  • Got a few hours to spare at Sheremetyevo International Airport? Why not stop off at the Aero-beauty hair salon for a cut, trim, or maybe even a dye? Another option is to spend some time at the History Museum of Sheremetyevo, which has several unique exhibitions on the history of the airport.
