Ashes 2023 schedule: Full list of fixtures, venues and start times for England v Australia series

australian ashes tour 2023

Australia will tour England for five men’s Test matches and the women’s Ashes and in 2023 — here’s the full schedule, list of fixtures and match timings of Ashes 2023.

England will host Australia for five men’s Test matches across June and July, 2023, in a quest to regain the Ashes that they conceded when they lost 0-4 on the 2017/18 tour of Australia. Since then, England have drawn 2-2 at home and lost 0-4 again in 2021/22, when they toured Australia. However, with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum at the helm, England will back themselves in Test cricket’s oldest contest.

This will be the first time in 139 years that England will not host an Ashes Test match in August. The Test matches will be played at Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford, and The Oval.

England will also host Australia women for the usual multi-format Ashes series, comprising a Test match, three Twenty20 Internationals, and three ODIs. The match, at Trent Bridge, will be only the second five-day Test in the history of women’s cricket, after the North Sydney Oval Test of 1991/92 between Australia and England. Australia have been holding the Women’s Ashes since their 10-6 win in 2015: they drew 8-8 in 2017/18 (at home) and won 12-4 in each of 2019 (in England) and 2021/22 (at home).

Déjà vu as 2023 Men's Ashes schedule announced

Déjà vu as 2023 Men's Ashes schedule announced

The same five grounds that hosted Tests during the 2019 Men's Ashes have been selected again for 2023

Australia's bid for a first men's Ashes-winning campaign in the UK since 2001 will carry a reassuring whiff of familiarity, potentially balanced out by a couple of unprecedented points of difference.

The schedule for next year's five-Test Ashes series announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today reveals matches played at the same venues and in the same order as the 2019 tour which ended 2-2 and with Australia retaining the urn.

The battle kicks off on June 16 at Edgbaston where in 2019 Australia scored their first win in 18 years, then to Lord's, Headingley (scene of now-England skipper Ben Stokes's 'miracle' innings last time around), Old Trafford (where the Ashes were retained four years ago) and The Oval.

The Ashes holders will be buoyed by knowing their winning ratio over the preceding 140 years of UK Tests is highest at Lord's (15 victories from 37 matches), followed by Headingley (nine from 25), Edgbaston and Old Trafford (both 27 per cent success rate) and The Oval (seven from 38).

They will also be pleased to again avoid Trent Bridge where they have not triumphed since 2001 and were bowled out for 60 on day one of the fourth Test in 2015, although their record at The Oval will provide pause for thought given it hosts the World Test Championship final immediately prior to the Ashes.

However, the major change to next year's series will be the compacted nature of the playing schedule which sees five Tests squeezed into a window of six and half weeks from June 16-July 31.

Which means for the first time since Australia made their maiden Test cricket venture to the UK in 1880, a multi-match campaign will be completed before the start of August which traditionally heralds the start of English summer holidays.

In addition, the cramped playing roster – with the maximum break between Ashes Tests being the eight days separating the third (Leeds) and fourth (Manchester) fixtures – leaves no room for the traditional tour games against county outfits.

Instead, players looking to find form or push their claims for selection will be expected to do so at lengthy practice sessions as team management searches to find a balance between necessary recuperation and simulated match training.

Compounding the unique logjam of Ashes Tests, which is the result of the ECB's push to leave August scheduling free for The Hundred domestic limited-overs tournament, is the prospect of Australia's participation in the final of the ICC World Test Championship in early June.

Given Pat Cummins' men's team will have completed away Test and ODI matches in India in February-March next year followed by the likely involvement of numerous players in the IPL (late March-late May), there will be limited preparation time for the Test Championship final should Australia get there.

Currently, Cummins' team sits atop the Test Championship table ahead of South Africa (who they play in three Tests during the coming home summer), Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan.

Should they qualify for the final of the ICC's biennial Test competition – to be held at The Oval next year and at Lord's in 2025 – it seems that match will also serve as preparation for the Ashes contest which will begin barely a week later.

The ICC is yet to announce the dates of that Championship decider.

If Australia falls short of the final, there is the likelihood their Ashes warm-up might be a game against England Lions, the host nation's A team.

But even if Australia takes an expanded squad for the England sojourn that could feasibly involve six Tests within eight weeks, there is no scope for a repeat of the innovative intra-squad match that preceded finalisation of their 2019 Ashes squad.

Then men's team captain Tim Paine described that two-day practice match and intensive training program at Southampton involving 25 Ashes aspirants as "perfect preparation" prompting speculation it would provide the blueprint for future England tours.

It was also viewed as a vital component in Australia avoiding their fifth successive Ashes series defeat on British soil, stretching back to 2005.

However, the expansion of the IPL window to eight weeks coupled with the rise of The Hundred which was launched in 2021 and is set to become a fixture in August suggests the days of a UK Ashes tour stretching more than a couple of months have now formally passed.

The previous earliest finish to a UK Ashes summer was August 11 in 1909, but even then Monty Noble's men played almost 40 games during their visit that began in early May and included 11  fixtures following the final Test at The Oval.

By contrast, Cummins' team are likely to depart England immediately after their final Test given they are not fixtured to play any limited-overs games during their UK stay and instead will focus on the five ODI, three T20 tour to South Africa that begins in September.

Australia's all-conquering women's team will also contest the Ashes in England next year, with an historic five-day Test at Trent Bridge beginning a week after the men's battle gets underway.

“The Ashes series are among the most significant sporting events in world sport and we are looking forward to these highly anticipated contests in England next year," Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer Nick Hockley said today.

"There is no bigger challenge than retaining the Ashes away from home. There is huge excitement from our teams as they look to write themselves into Ashes folklore.

“While these series are on the horizon, we’re excited for the cricket immediately ahead this summer as our men’s team host England across two highly anticipated Dettol T20I and ODI Series either side of the T20 World Cup."

Ashes 2023: All you need to know guide

England were not at the races when the teams met in Australia for the 2021/22 series, though it'd be fair to say recent form of this series' hosts makes the five matches truly tantalising.

Usman Khawaja backs great mate David Warner to fire in the Ashes

Australia batter Usman Khawaja on his opening partner and good friend David Warner ahead of the Ashes 2023 against England

Taking a 4-0 beating 18 months ago, and having any chance of a World Test Championship Final tarnished, England used the second half of their cycle to experiment. Joe Root stepped aside, Ben Stokes stepped up, and new red-ball coach Brendon McCullum rung the changes.

The results were so devastating for their opponents, their defeat Down Under has become a distant memory, to the point where England quick Stuart Broad declared the series "void", amidst other logistical complications. The side have since won 11 of 13 matches since McCullum's appointment, a record that stacks up against their rivals, who went on to lift the 2023 mace just a few days ago.

Nasser Hussain's Ashes prediction

A common ground of world-class cricket by the pair was Pakistan in the last World Test Championship cycle, both bringing back series victories. England went about proceedings with their now-trademark approach; Australia meanwhile used their grit and grind to victory.

There's nothing to suggest that either team will deviate, setting up a gripping six weeks.

**Series played:**72 **Australia wins:**34 **England wins:**32 **Draws:**6

England last won the Ashes in 2015, with Australia claiming the 2017/2018 Ashes and retaining the urn with a 2-2 series draw in the UK in 2019. Australia won the 2021/2022 series 4-0.

“I’m going to take him on”: England star fires warning to Nathan Lyon

England have already named their XI for the first Test, picking both James Anderson and Ollie Robinson, who have recovered from groin and ankle injuries respectively.

All-rounder Moeen Ali has also come out of retirement to play as England's frontline spinner, replacing Jack Leach after he suffered a stress fracture in the Lord's Test against Ireland.

Australia at this point are mulling over their bowling options, with Scott Boland potentially bolting into the side following his strong WTC23 Final performance.

As Josh Hazlewood comes back from an Achilles problem, the tourists may opt to save the 32-year-old for the second Test at Lord's.

The Australians will stick with a set seven, and boast the three top Test batters in the world according to the MRF Tyres rankings: Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Travis Head.

Head, whose brash batting plays in parallel to England's modus operandi, comes into the series having been crowned Player of the Match of the World Test Championship Final.

Pat Cummins , securing the WTC Final and looking to the Ashes: "We've seen it as one big tour with two huge titles to play for — and (it’s) good to tick the first one off.

“(The) Ashes tend to define eras and teams. Ashes are bloody hard to win. I think it's been 20-odd years.

"It's not going to be easy — but if we were to win it, that is legacy-defining stuff."

Ricky Ponting on ‘BazBall’: “It's been refreshing to see England’s win-at-all-costs mentality, not caring about losing a game – or not putting that ahead of trying to win a game,” Ponting said. “For that fact, I can't wait for the Ashes to start.”

Brendon McCullum on their batting approach for the series: “At the first sign of trouble, you can’t run away from it. Or at the first sign of all the eyeballs in the world watching you, you can’t run away from what’s been most successful for you.

“The more that’s at stake, the more it’s important to keep it simple and relaxed, to do what gives you your greatest chance.

James Anderson to The Guardian on England’s tactics: "I just think if we do what we’ve been doing and play as well as we possibly can, I don’t think anyone in the world can cope with it."

Stuart Broad on the last series held during Covid (to Daily Mail ): “In my mind I don’t class that as a real Ashes. The definition of Ashes cricket is elite sport with lots of passion and players at the top of their game.

“I’ve written it off as a void series.”

Mitchell Starc , in response to Stuart Broad’s comments ( Sydney Morning Herald ): “The Poms had the pool, the gym, they were in a resort on the Gold Coast, they trained at Metricon, weren’t confined to their rooms and had their families there.

“Was that really quarantine? They were still allowed to play golf on tour. Is that an excuse for 4-0? Dunno. It was a pretty good series to be a part of.”

Stuart Broad , in response to Starc via Instagram: “How many Test matches did Starcy play away from home during Covid? Trying to do the maths on it. Zero wasn’t it?”

Harry Brook on taking on Nathan Lyon: “If he bowls a good ball then I’m going to respect it. But other than that, I’m going to try and take him on. He could get a lot of wickets, but hopefully we’re going to hit him for a lot of runs.”

Steve Smith on Australia potentially attacking Moeen Ali in response: “Leachy’s (Jack Leach) not here so they don’t have a left-arm spinner, so it’s a bit different, the ball’s spinning in. I’m sure there will be times facing Mo there will be times where we’re a bit more aggressive and times where we bring it back."

Dates and venues for 2023 Ashes series finally revealed

The dates and venues for the 2023 men’s and women’s Ashes have finally been unveiled, headlined by an “absurd” 138-year first.

The dates and venues for the 2023 men’s and women’s Ashes have finally been unveiled.

On Wednesday evening AEST, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed the men’s Ashes would get underway at Trent Bridge on June 22, with the five-Test series wrapping up in London the following month.

Australia, who thumped England 4-0 on home soil last summer, will be hoping to win the Ashes in England for the first time since 2001.

But in a 138-year first for the iconic series, no men’s Ashes Test will be played in August, ensuring England’s players are available for The Hundred competition.

Inevitably, the ECB’s decision to squeeze the sport’s prestigious contest into a seven-week window to accommodate for a domestic white-ball tournament did not sit comfortably with cricket traditionalists.

The gruelling Ashes schedule also leaves little wriggle room for traditional tour games against county outfits.

Absurd how next summer's Ashes is being rushed through by the end of July, away from traditional August window, to make way for The Hundred. As if the two are even remotely comparable in prestige. — Oliver Brown (@oliverbrown_tel) September 21, 2022
So the ECB confirm that all the Ashes Tests next summer will be squeezed in and finish by the end of July to give a clear window for the Hundred in August. A decision that is not being met with widespread approval. — John Etheridge (@JohnSunCricket) September 21, 2022

Meanwhile, the women’s Ashes Test will be contested over five days at Trent Bridge, just the second women’s Test match of that length in history.

After the corresponding 2019 fixture, which was played on a used pitch in Taunton, ended as a draw, cricket pundits pleaded for women’s Test matches to be extended to five days, and those prayers have thankfully been answered.

“I’m so happy,” England captain Heather Knight told PA .

“I feel like I’ve been banging the drum for five days for a long time, so it’s a special moment. It feels like the right time, for five days, for bigger grounds, and it feels like it’s been a long time coming. Last year’s South Africa Test was set up nicely but withered out because of rain and it wasn’t given the chance to finish, so this is a really good step by the boards.”

The women’s Ashes will once again consist of a multi-format series featuring three T20Is, three ODIs and one Test match, with the champion to be determined via a points system.

“The Ashes series are among the most significant sporting events in world sport and we are looking forward to these highly anticipated contests in England next year,” Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley said in a statement.

“There is no bigger challenge than retaining the Ashes away from home. There is huge excitement from our teams as they look to write themselves into Ashes folklore.

“While these series are on the horizon, we’re excited for the cricket immediately ahead this summer as our men’s team host England across two highly anticipated Dettol T20I and ODI Series either side of the T20 World Cup.”

Australia doesn’t play the first Test against India until December but when asked about who should open the batting with him Usman Khawaja gave a curious answer.

A selection call that preceded a shock World Cup loss has been defended as Australia face a travel nightmare for a second game in three days and a must-win clash with India.

England have sent an ominous warning with a World Cup masterclass fuelled by one star etching his name into the record books.

Winners and losers from Australia’s Test squad for World Test Championship final and Ashes series

The Ashes and World Test Championship final are fast approaching, and Australia has unveiled a 17-player squad for the first three Tests of this winter’s highly-anticipated England tour.

After facing India in a mouth-watering clash in London, Pat Cummins’ men will look to become the first Australian side to win an Ashes series on English soil since 2001.

A confident England outfit stands in their way , with Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes reinvigorating the Test side since last year’s appointment as coach and captain respectively.

The World Test Championship final gets underway at The Oval on June 7, while the first Ashes Test commences at Edgbaston on June 16. A 15-player squad for the match against India will be named on May 28.

Australian Test Squad

Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, David Warner

David Warner

Despite a recent dip in form , David Warner will return to England for his fourth, and presumably last, Ashes tour this winter.

The veteran opener is a modern legend of the game, but the left-hander is still searching for his maiden Test century on English soil. He endured a horror 2019 Ashes campaign, averaging 9.50 with the bat as England seamer Stuart Broad tormented him from around the wicket.

But despite registering just one Test century since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, national selectors have backed Warner to rediscover his vintage best in the World Test Championship final against India.

“Openers who can put pressure back on the bowlers, they’re priceless,” Australian captain Pat Cummins told foxsports.com.au last month .

“I know as a bowler, if someone’s a sitting duck, you feel like you’re going to get them eventually. If someone’s kind of taking the game to you, it presents a different challenge. That’s been the hallmark of Davey’s career.

“Over there in England, that’s what you’d want out of him, putting that pressure back on the bowlers.”

However, speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning, chair of selectors George Bailey couldn’t promise that Warner would open the batting for the first Test against England at Edgbaston.

“Different opposition, different surface,” Bailey declared in an ominous four-word answer for Warner.

“We’ll work through that.”

Marcus Harris

After being axed ahead of the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Marcus Harris returns to the Test squad in a horses-for-courses selection, leapfrogging sub-continent specialist Peter Handscomb in the pecking order.

The Victorian, who was handed a Cricket Australia contract earlier this month, has not represented Australia since January last year, but his recent form against the Dukes ball has been enough to sway national selectors.

The 30-year-old has scored 1588 runs at 51.22 in the County Championship since 2020, plundering 59 and 148 during Gloucestershire’s season opener against Glamorgan.

Harris played three Tests during the 2019 Ashes tour, registering 58 runs at 9.66 in a forgettable campaign for the left-hander.

“Three years ago when I came over here to play for Leicester my goal was aiming towards the Ashes this year but also just to get some cricket under my belt in the UK,” Harris told RSN927 last week .

“Last time I came over to the Ashes in 2019 I’d never played over here at a professional level and it was probably a bit of a shock to the system.

“So if I‘m fortunate enough to get picked in the series this year, at least in the squad, I’ll have three seasons of county cricket under my belt to help myself be best prepared.”

Todd Murphy

Nathan Lyon’s heir apparent has done enough to secure a plane ticket to England, with Todd Murphy selected for his maiden Ashes campaign – presumably the first of many.

The young Victorian made his Test debut during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India, taking a seven-wicket haul in Nagpur and finishing the series with 14 wickets at 25.21.

Australia did not pick a second strike spinner for the 2019 Ashes because English conditions traditionally favour seam bowlers, and Murphy probably won’t crack into the starting XI if Lyon is available.

But the 22-year-old has cemented his status as Lyon’s successor, and this Ashes call-up is the latest chapter in the spectacled tweaker’s exponential rise through the ranks.

According to The Cricketer , Cricket Australia has blocked Murphy’s availability for the first half of the County Championship to monitor his workload ahead of the Ashes.

Matthew Renshaw

Despite a horror Test tour to India, Matthew Renshaw has earned a spot in Australia’s Ashes squad after plundering twin centuries against New Zealand A this month .

The Queenslander enjoyed a successful campaign with Somerset in the County Championship last year, scoring 620 runs at 47.69 in eight matches, including two centuries.

He continued that impressive form in the Sheffield Shield this summer, smacking 310 first-class runs at 51.66 for Queensland. He also scored 81 and 101 not out for the Prime Minister’s XI against West Indies in Canberra last November.

National selectors rewarded Renshaw with a long-awaited Test recall, picked for the New Year’s Test against South Africa and the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy — but he couldn’t make the most of the opportunity, registering scores of 5*, 0, 2 and 2.

But the 27-year-old pushed his case for an Ashes berth after scoring two centuries against the Dukes ball during the recent Australia A tour of New Zealand.

“We like Matt Renshaw,” Bailey said.

“We think he provides good flexibility for us in the middle. We also know he can bat at the top.

“We like the way he plays, we like the way he goes about it. Tough tour in India, but we like the skillset he brings in the UK.”

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh has been selected for his fifth Ashes campaign after an injury-riddled four-year absence from the Australian Test side.

The West Australian all-rounder, who last played Test cricket during the 2019 Ashes, recently recovered from ankle surgery, but has been in blistering form with the bat since his return.

The 31-year-old was Australia’s leading run-scorer during last month’s ODI tour of India with 194 runs in three knocks, smacking an unbeaten century against Tasmania in his Sheffield Shield return.

Marsh, who took a five-wicket haul in his most recent Ashes Test at The Oval, will presumably serve as an injury replacement for Cameron Green if required, but Bailey confirmed there was a “potential” for both all-rounders to feature in the starting XI.

“It’s great to have Mitch back,” Bailey said.

“Not having Green during part of the India series highlighted to us the value of having a back-up (all-rounder). Mitch has performed well in the UK in the past, and we think he can add some real value.”

Michael Neser

Perhaps the unluckiest cricketer on this list, Michael Neser was the surprise omission from Australia’s Ashes squad, with only four strike pace bowlers named.

The Queenslander was included in the 2019 Ashes squad, but didn’t make his Test debut until the 2021/22 home summer. He has taken seven wickets at 16.71 in his two Test appearances, both in day-night fixtures at Adelaide Oval.

Neser is coming off a superb Sheffield Shield campaign, claiming 40 wickets at 16.67 and contributing 357 runs with the bat at 35.70, including a century against New South Wales in Sydney. The 33-year-old, a perennial 12th man in Australia’s Test team, was named Player of the Sheffield Shield this summer, also winning the coveted Ian Healy Trophy.

But despite earning a Cricket Australia contract earlier this month, he couldn’t convince national selectors he deserves a spot in the Ashes squad, with Scott Boland understandably still ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, with Josh Hazlewood still nursing an Achilles injury, there remains a slim chance Neser could be rushed into the squad as a like-for-like injury replacement.

“If we do need to call upon another quick, we can be really specific around who we need and why, and not necessarily have someone in the squad who end up being superfluous,” Bailey explained.

Cameron Bancroft

Another prolific Sheffield Shield campaign with Western Australian wasn’t enough for Cameron Bancroft to earn a long-awaited Test recall.

The 30-year-old, who last represented Australia in the 2019 Ashes campaign, finished as the Sheffield Shield’s leading run-scorer this summer with 945 runs at 59.06, including four centuries.

“My old way of thinking, I always like a right-and-left-hander combination. So I would love to see Cameron Bancroft get another opportunity at the top of the order,” former Australian Test captain Mark Taylor told AAP this week.

“I see Renshaw has been making runs in New Zealand (for Australia A), but Bancroft has made a heap of runs in the Australian summer.

“One thing I do like about Bancroft, which I also like about Renshaw, is their ability to catch in the field. In the next year or two, we‘re going to need to find two openers. The one thing that has worried me about Marcus Harris is his fielding.

“The way this series is looking like panning out, fielding is going to be crucial. I think that will go against someone like a Marcus Harris, whose fielding is not great.”

Peter Handscomb

It’s now clear that Peter Handscomb’s Test recall for the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy was purely a horses-for-courses selection, with the Victorian unceremoniously dumped ahead of the Ashes.

Handscomb was picked for the India tour after a four-year hiatus from the Test side, featuring in all four matches. The right-hander scored 145 runs at 29.00 in the low-scoring series, including a pair of gritty fifties in Nagpur and Delhi, before smacking 112 and 68 not out for Leicestershire in last week’s thrilling victory over Yorkshire in the County Championship.

And despite missing the second half of Victoria’s Sheffield Shield campaign, the 31-year-old finished as the state’s leading run-scorer with 634 runs at 70.44, including an unbeaten 281 against eventual champions Western Australia.

But Handscomb’s unorthodox batting technique has often been exposed against the swinging Dukes ball, with national selectors preferring Marcus Harris and Matthew Renshaw for this winter’s marquee series.

Sean Abbott

The New South Welshman was on the verge of a Test debut after breaking into the Australia squad a few years ago, but Sean Abbott has slowly fallen out of contention over the past 24 months.

Abbott has become a regular member of Australia’s white-ball teams, firming as a contender for this year’s World Cup squad in India - but the illusive baggy green remains out of reach.

The right-armed seamer finished this season’s Sheffield Shield as the Blues’ leading wicket-taker with 21 scalps at 29.33. He is currently representing Surrey in the County Championship, snaring a classy five-wicket haul in last week’s draw against Lancashire.

Matthew Kuhnemann/Mitchell Swepson

Despite impressive performances in red-ball cricket over the past 12 months, Matthew Kuhnemann and Mitchell Swepson have officially slipped below Todd Murphy in the pecking order.

Kuhnemann, who made his Test debut during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, claimed career-best figures of 5-16 in the low-scoring Indore contest against India before steering Durham towards a miracle victory in the County Championship last week.

Meanwhile, Swepson finished the recent Australia A tour of New Zealand as the leading wicket-taker, snaring breakthroughs in all four innings despite the lack of spin on offer in Hamilton.

However, the Queensland spin duo might need to wait until Australia’s next subcontinent tour for another chance to prove their worth at Test level.

Lance Morris/Jhye Richardson/Will Sutherland

The pace trio of Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson and Will Sutherland would have been in contention for selection in Australia’s Ashes campaign if not for untimely injuries.

Morris, who is yet to make his Test debut, sustained a back injury following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and is unlikely to feature in the England tour.

“We’ll look to rebuild Lance and hopefully have a big crack at the (home) summer,” Bailey said.

Richardson recently underwent surgery on his troublesome hamstring, targeting a return to full fitness ahead of this year’s World Cup in India.

“Injuries are a big part of cricket, that‘s a fact. Frustrating? Absolutely,” Richardson tweeted last month.

“But I’m now in a scenario where I can get back to doing what I love and work bloody hard to become an even better player than before.

“One step back, two steps forward. Let’s do this.”

Sutherland, this summer’s leading wicket-taker in the Sheffield Shield, turned heads with a stunning all-round performance in the Sheffield Shield final in Perth, but sustained a lower back stress fracture last month to ruin his Ashes dream.

Ben Stokes during play for England vs South Africa

The fixtures have been announced for the England men and women’s home Ashes series in 2023.

Both the men’s and women’s series will take place at the same time, promising a blockbuster summer for England cricket fans.

England men’s team have been in imperious form under their new captain and coach double act, with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum deploying a new brand of cricket which has seen the team win all but one of their matches since they took charge.

The team will be looking to avenge the Ashes humiliation they suffered at the hands of the old enemy last winter, where England endured one collapse after another to lose 4-0 Down Under.

The only warm-up match ahead of the series with Australia will be against Ireland at Lord’s between June 1-4.

The Ashes then get underway on June 16 at Edgbaston, before the two teams head south for the traditional second Test at Lord’s.

The third and fourth Tests will be held at Headingley and Old Trafford respectively, with the series wrapping up with the fifth and final Test at The Oval on July 27.

This will be the first home men’s Ashes series in England not to feature a Test match in August, going back to the first ever series in 1884.

This is because the ECB wants to keep The Hundred in the August slot.

Meanwhile, the women’s multi-format Ashes will feature one Test match at Trent Bridge between June 22-26, followed by three T20s and three ODIs in July.

In the women’s series, a victory in the Test is worth four points, while the three ODIs and three T20s are worth two points for the winner in each.

The Test will be England women’s first trip to Trent Bridge since 2000, and Edgbaston, Lord’s and the Oval will all host their first T20 matches in women’s Ashes history.

Australian women made it an Aussie Ashes double in 2022, beating Heather Knight’s team 12-4 overall.

Australian Cricket Tours - Abbreviated Branding That Reads A.C.T.

Ashes 2023 Tour Update

Saturday October 08, 2022 -

Great news, Ashes Tours will be released between October 20 - 26, as per the latest email received from Cricket Australia Travel Office (CATO), in which they also asked us to remove of our 'estimated' guide-pricing.

They didn't think it right that you should know what to expect to pay. It's only been online for 18 months so we can live 2 weeks without it. That said, our estimates were spot on (if you remember them) except Lord's which unsurprisingly, is not lower.

We also removed the deposit booking link. If you wish to register a deposit booking, let us know and we'll send you the link.

We received more than 600 test match deposits. Some booked for 5 Tests, others for 1, 2, or 3 Tests, some for 1 person, others for 25, but not everyone will go.

D epending on final prices,  some may book 1 or 2 tests and not 4 or 5. One gentleman booked 15 places for 3 tests, but we know he's only going to Edgbaston, so we know we don't need 600 packages. We will have 150 packages to start but can get more if required, but you will need to rebook smartly.

If you paid a deposit we will send you an email inviting you to rebook your preferred tour. If you didn't pay a deposit, please wait until we go public if we have packages remaining.

In our previous email (point 5 below), we said you would have 7 days to rebook. Knowing tours will be released in 2+ weeks, you now have 14 days to prepare to re-book in what will be only a 72-hour window before we put the booking page on the website, if we need to.

Many have already changed their mind on venues and numbers, and you may have too. Let us know if you will proceed with any or all of our Ashes Test Match Tours, how many people, which venues, and whether you prefer twin/double or single.

Pricing is confidential until tours are released but we will have your most affordable Official Tour option, per hotel.

We tour the Ashes for presence, not profit.

If you are not re-booking, please let us know for your deposit to be refunded.

At the time of booking, you must pay:

  • $1000pp twin  for Edgbaston, Headingley, Old Trafford, and Oval
  • $1500pp single  for Edgbaston, Headingley, Old Trafford, and Oval
  • $1500pp twin  for Lord's
  • $2000pp single  for Lord's

You can pay in full if you wish.

  • 2nd Payment  (50% of your balance remaining) must be received by Friday January 20, 2023
  • 3rd Payment (balance remaining) must be received by Friday February 17, 2023
  • Payment dates will be included on the booking page

Australian Cricket Tours - Abbreviated Branding That Reads A.C.T.

Wednesday September 21, 2022 -

The eagerly awaited Ashes dates are known, but still unconfirmed. The chances of these changing are slim, but until they are announced by Cricket Australia and ECB, they can still change.

In reply to many that have Whatsapp or emailed since the dates have been leaked;

1 - Once dates are confirmed, Official Tours will be released later in the year giving you time to book holidays, flights, and other needs, and ask a million questions if need be, before booking your tour. It takes time to confirm 3000 hotel beds, so relax, there will be plenty of time to book

2 - If you have paid a A$10 deposit per venue, we will contact you with final pricing asking if you wish to keep your place/s. We will not have packages for anyone that hasn't paid a deposit. We are not offering places to 'the public' per se

3 - If you wish to keep your place/s, you will be asked to rebook. There is no obligation to proceed, and either way your deposit will be refunded

4 - We will offer you ALL test matches. You don't have to rebook your original venue/s, you're welcome to book whichever venue/s suit your time, knowing the series is now in June - July

5 - If you choose to enjoy the Ashes 2023 with us, you will have 7 days to rebook with a non-refundable payment of A$1000* per person per venue

*Due to payments we need to make to CATO, this initial deposit has changed from A$500 to A$1000 per person, on Oct 4, 2022.

6 - You can make full payment or by installment. All payments are non-refundable. Once you confirm with us, we are obliged to buy your full package/s from Cricket Australia Travel. We pay them, so you must pay us. There is no going back. Installment dates will be given

7 - Cricket Australia select hotels, and then create, price, and sell 6-night base tours (incl. profit) to ALL official tour operators (us!), that include hotels with breakfast, reserved seat match ticket, and pre-test match function. We add apparel and our 28 years of touring knowhow

8 - Our 6-night packages will be as close to cost as possible. Other operators add travel, transfers, day tours, Europe, and extra nights for a lot more money. We don't. We just want to help you enjoy a very-expensive tour as affordably as possible, with the convenience of an official tour.

9 - Pricing on our website was a high-end guide. We would rather suggest a higher price than a lower price only to then ask you for more. Final pricing is subject to match ticket prices, hotel rates, and foreign exchange. Current GBP exchange to the AUD is helping immensely

10 - If travelling alone and wish to twin share, we will partner you with another lone-traveller of the same gender. If we have odd numbers, you may be asked to pay the single supplement. If you do not wish to share a room with a stranger, then please book a single room

11 - If your partner does not want to go to the cricket, there are no packages at this stage for partners that do not need match tickets. I suggest you book a single room and your partner can join you for 6-nights without any inclusions, including breakfast

12 - If you travelling as a family, kids up to an age (that won't go to the cricket) can use the parents' room (bed) for a small fee, if any. If your kids are going to the cricket, a full package must be booked. Lower pricing for kids is unavailable

13 - If you are one of the many cricket clubs coming, your guests must book separately, but we still need to know how many to expect to reserve the correct number of packages. All payments still need to be received within 7-days so start winding up players now to save the $500pp (and the rest). There is no obligation to proceed, but stragglers may miss out

14 - If you baulked at booking, please reconsider paying a fully refundable deposit. We can't offer you a place if we don't know you want to go

I believe that covers everything. None of the above are terms and conditions of booking, it is just blanket information to help you prepare. If there is something not covered, please let me know so I can answer it, and add it to the page.

Thank you to everyone that has booked, and thank you in advance to those that will.

If you still need to, please book here

Many thanks from all at ACT.
