I’ve always had industrial metal down as one of the most unusual genres - insofar that it seems to have struggled to gain too much of a foothold within the popular metal community, let alone the wider musical one - but within its own sphere, within that niche, there are plenty of hardcore subscribers. LA outfit Static-X - who, admittedly, flew a little too close to nu metal territory for their own good during the early noughties - remain a fine example of the cult of the industrial band; they enjoyed a successful enough career to allow them to release six full-lengths and tour the world constantly. Things seemed to fall apart for them pretty quickly in the late noughties, though; after their last album, Cult of Static, performed strongly critically and commercially in 2009, frontman Wayne Static put the band on the back burner to focus on solo project Pighammer, and his bandmates moved on, effectively dissolving the band. Static did tour with solo band under the Static-X name in 2012, but the shows lacked the usual fizz and crackle of the band’s heyday, as well as the sheer heaviness of their live peak; both group and fans knew it was over, with their second split announced in June of last year.

Simply amazing! I'm old, it was a work
night and I very nearly decided to give the show a miss. Man, am I glad I made the effort to go!
Both support acts, Dope and Wednesday 13, were great. Energetic and engaging with thumping tracks to match. It was also cool to have the Dope frontman remind us all that we were there to party and celebrate Wayne's life. Fighting didn't have a place there and, fortunately, there was no problem the entire night.
As for Static-X, any scepticism or doubt I had about new singer Zero were instantly dismissed. He's an absolute machine and I often had to remind myself it wasn't actually Wayne. He had fantastic stage presence and energy, sang like a demon and regularly interacted with the ocean of fans that had turned up to watch.
In fact, the entire band, comprised of the original Wisconsin Death Trip members, were brilliant in all respects. Frenzied, fun, respectful and hugely entertaining. The band churned through most of that album, progressed through a chunk of the 2nd album, before ending the evening with monster tracks 'I'm With Stupid' and 'Push It'. A brilliant evening.
Awesome Gig,
What can I say, Wayne may be gone but the guys gave him a tribute anyone would be proud of. Excellent, tight and on point throughout.
Other bands on the bill were
Dope - Excellent, bit of a slow start but when they got into the classics they were great
Wednesday 13 - Nice break to go take a large dump and get loaded on beer, I am not alone in saying they ruined the build up to the joint head-liners. The atmosphere front of stage was flat, played songs nobody seemed to know and went out of their way to be obtuse and weird even for a metal gig.
Soil - Fantastic, great engagement with the crowd, really got the atmosphere buzzing again after the abortion played before them. Absolutely set the tone for Static X.
GO SEE STATIC X, SOIL & DOPE!!!
You will not be disappointed!!!
I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive about this Static-X show, but it was everything I had hoped it would be and more. The guy filling in for Wayne did an outstanding job! The lineup was perfect! The supporting acts were great, and didn't play too long. The show had a great flow. The sets were all visually appealing with sets, lights, smoke, and especially the visuals. The only downside was that Raven Black didn't seem like they got a soundcheck. The drums overpowered everything, and you could only hear snippets of the guitars and bass, and the vocals most of the time. The sound got better as each band played. Well worth the money, and it was a show I won't ever forget!
I cannot tell you how pissed off I am about this. My Songkick Android application says this was a Static-X concert with 4 other bands playing. Imagine my surprise when I get there are 2:30 and find out there are 18 bands playing and Static-X is not due on until 10:15pm. AND THERE WAS NO RE-ENTRY. So we were stuck inside with no food and no seating for 8 hours before the show even started.
And parking was non-existent.
There was NO indication that this was the case. Needless to say I cannot go 10 hours without food so we went home.
I will NEVER attend that venue again.
Fantastic venue, I went to the catch-22 show which was a larger show and was a very disappointing been you Best show That I've been to this year!! The 55 Fulton was clean, the bands played loud, everything was on time. I saw Static X Beginning of the tour. That was great, but 55 Fulton Rocks!!
It was amazing to see static X again back at the masquerade in Atlanta Georgia. Best show of the night by far It was heartbreaking and amazing as well for them to pay tribute to Wayne static. They still kick ass with there new front man zero.
Was awesome new singer was amazing! Band didn’t miss a beat! Great to see static X do this would go see them again if I get a chance! Didn’t like it started at 10:30 on a Wednesday night but still worth it!
They were absolutely phenomenal!!! Dope's lead singer did last night's show in Atlanta. I would definitely go see them again! So worth the 4 hour round trip. Definitely recommend . Must see show
Great show. Loved hearing a lot from Wisconsin Death Trip.
Missed Wayne for sure but Xero made the show still very enjoyable and sounded very similar.
Would check them out again soon.

STATIC-X, SEVENDUST And DOPE Announce Fall 2023 'Machine Killer' U.S. Tour
A tour reunion that is over two decades in the making will return this fall. In 1999, metal legends SEVENDUST , STATIC-X and DOPE were each exploding on to the scene, while joining foces to create one of the most memorable tours of the year. Fast forward to 2023 and this incredible tour package is primed to deliver a super-charged evening of unforgettable music for newfound and lifelong fans of this resurging genre. The "Machine Killer" tour co-headlined by STATIC-X and SEVENDUST is named after the gold-certified sophomore album "Machine" by STATIC-X and their recently acclaimed "Rise Of The Machine" tour, along with the upcoming fourteenth studio album from SEVENDUST , "Truth Killer" . The 21-city tour will kick off on October 6 in Houston, Texas. Along the way, the trek will make stops in the SEVENDUST hometown of Atlanta, Georgia (October 10); Detroit, Michigan (October 17); Kansas City, Missouri (October 23) and others before wrapping up in the STATIC-X hometown of Los Angeles, California (November 1). Rockers DOPE (who also participated in the 1999 tour) and newcomers LINES OF LOYALTY will act as support for the "Machine Killer" tour.
STATIC-X frontman Xer0 comments: "We are excited to bring the fans an even bigger and better show than the last one. We are already building the new production elements and we intend to blow the roofs off of these venues each night."
STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos says: "We are beyond thrilled to be touring with SEVENDUST again. They bring one hell of a show each and every night, so this tour is going to be one for the ages."
SEVENDUST 's Lajon Witherspoon states: "We can't wait to hit the road with our friends in STATIC-X and DOPE . It has been 24 years since the last time we have shared a stage with those guys. We can't wait to do it again this fall and to bring together all of our family members together in one place."
SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery says: "We're excited to join our friends in STATIC-X and DOPE who we share much history with on tour. I have no doubt that this will be an extremely entertaining and high production run. The bands and the fans have much to look forward to on this one. Do not miss out!"

SEVENDUST never follow a linear path. Instead, they continue to bulldoze a lane of their own with a proven one-two punch of rumbling grooves, unpredictable riffing, and stirringly soulful vocals unlike anything else in hard rock. As a result, their music connects straight to the heart as evidenced by their full-contact live shows and diehard "family" of fans. It's why they've been around since 1994, tallied global sales of seven million, logged three gold-selling albums, delivered three Top 15 debuts on the Billboard 200, and garnered a Grammy Award nomination in the category of "Best Metal Performance." 2021 saw them deliver one of the most acclaimed albums of their career — their thirteenth studio masterpiece "Bood & Stone" , which Metal Hammer christened " SEVENDUST 's best work in years." However, the Atlanta quintet — Lajon Witherspoon (lead vocals), Clint Lowery (lead guitar, backing vocals), John Connolly (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass) and Morgan Rose (drums) — defy expectations yet again on their fourteenth full-length and debut for Napalm Records , "Truth Killer" , produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette ( ALTER BRIDGE , TRIVIUM , SLASH ).
One of the genre-defining bands of the late 1990s, STATIC-X was founded in Los Angeles in 1994 by lead vocalist/guitarist Wayne Static and drummer Ken Jay . The band lineup was rounded out by bassist Tony Campos and guitarist/programmer Koichi Fukuda , who collectively inked a deal with Warner Bros. Records .
STATIC-X rose to fame with its 1999 platinum-selling debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip" and went on to release five more albums over the course of the next decade: "Machine" in 2001, "Shadow Zone" in 2003, "Start A War" in 2005, "Cannibal" in 2007, and "Cult Of Static" in 2009. The band has sold more than three million albums in the U.S. alone and has had multiple chart-topping radio singles. They have toured the world extensively, and, to this day, maintain a reputation for being one of the best live acts in heavy music. In 2012, the band took a break to pursue outside creative interests and on November 1, 2014, Wayne unexpectedly passed away. In 2018, the band announced that they were reforming to celebrate Wayne , and in 2019 embarked on a world tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album. The reformed lineup of original members Campos , Fukuda , Jay and backed by frontman Xer0 delivered acclaimed performances by fans and critics alike. The tour was a massive success, with sold-out shows around the world, proving that STATIC-X fans remain as committed to the band as ever before. The revitalized STATIC-X continue to make headlines with their sold-out touring and new music while keeping their signature Evil Disco sound alive.

Static-X Reschedule Tour With Fear Factory, Dope, Mushroomhead + Twiztid
The "Rise of the Machine" tour featuring Static-X , Fear Factory , Dope , Mushroomhead and Twiztid has been postponed to 2023.
The North American tour will now begin Feb. 25, 2023 in San Francisco and will loop Canada and the United States before finishing up April 15, 2023 in Los Angeles. See the full list of tour dates below.
“On the surface, we are incredibly disappointed to share this news with our fans," Static-X write. "However, considering how infrequently Static-X, Fear Factory, and Dope have each toured over the last 10 years, we felt that the priority was to ensure that ALL of these 20th anniversary shows are ultimately able to play."
"With all of the uncertainty around travel restrictions, the extreme rise in current cases, as well as the quarantine mandates for those who test positive, we believe that attempting to play these dates in the coming weeks would likely result in a number of last-minute cancelations and lead to a much greater level of disappointment."
"The good news is that we were able to keep the entire touring lineup intact. Static-X, Fear Factory, Dope, Mushroomhead, & Twiztid will each perform in their previously scheduled cities, and due to the excitement around the tour and exceptional ticket sales, we also added four additional cities to the tour."
"Further, we highly value having an up close and personal meet and greet experience with our fans. We take extreme joy in shaking hands, giving hugs, taking photos, and we look forward to doing all of this without having to socially distance, wear masks etc. We are certain that by pushing things back, these experiences will be significantly more enjoyable and memorable for all of us."
"In addition, Static-X, Fear Factory, and Dope are all scheduled to complete new albums in 2022, which will lead to each band having brand new music to share with the fans, as we lead into these newly rescheduled tour dates."
READ MORE: Xer0 Names His Favorite Song Off Every Static-X Album
"As we stated previously, we are so excited to finally get back out on the road and hang out with you all. We plan to play most of the songs off of both Machine and Wisconsin Death Trip , as well a number of nice surprises that are being incorporated into the set list. We appreciate our friends in Fear Factory, Dope, Mushroomhead and Twizted making themselves available to share in all of this nostalgic insanity next year. We can’t wait to celebrate all of the good times that we had with Wayne and to share it live and loud with all of our fans night after night,” explains Static-X."
Fronted by the mysterious Xer0 , who wears a mask sporting the likeness of late frontman Wayne Static , Static-X have experienced a second era of success thanks to Project Regeneration . The band’s 2020 comeback album, Project Regeneration Vol. 1 , received high praise from fans and critics and broke the Top 50 of the Billboard 200.
“We are so excited to finally get back out on the road,” raves Static-X. “We plan to play most of the songs off of both Machine and Wisconsin Death Trip , as well a number of nice surprises that are being incorporated into the set list. It is going to be awesome to have Fear Factory, Dope and Mushroomhead back out on the road with us to share in all of this nostalgic insanity. All in all, this package is going to be one for the ages and we can’t wait to get out there and celebrate 20 years of our Machine record, while we continue to remember all of the good times that we had with Wayne and to share it live and loud with all of our fans night after night.”
“I’m beyond excited to finally turn the Fear Factory machine back on and start crushing stages alongside our longtime friends in Static X,” adds Dino Cazares of Fear Factory.
“We are honored to be part of this tour. Static-X, Fear Factory and Dope toured together back in 1999. It was the first time that we all met, and it laid the foundation for all of the tours that Dope and Static have done together. I can’t wait to get back out there and get crazy with all the fans!” exclaims Edsel Dope .
The 20th anniversary release of Machine is scheduled for February 18, 2022.
