The BR-D3 is a super stylish, practical carry bag for the golfer that looks for versatile storage and attention to detail. It isn’t waterproof but it’s lightweight, easy to carry and offers appealing value for money at just $210.

Why you can trust Golf Monthly Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test .
The BR-D3 is the all rounder in Mizuno’s comprehensive golf bag range in terms of balancing features and storage with price. It’s one of the brand’s less expensive options, partly because it isn’t fully waterproof, but there is plenty for golfers to like about what the BR-D3 has to offer.
Firstly, it’s one of the best looking stand bags on the market. It comes in six colors and I tested the eye-catching ‘Staff’ colorway of Mizuno’s signature white and blue, which just looks ridiculously cool. Despite its stripped-back design, it has eight pockets and compartments that provide ample separation, which include a nifty insulated cooler pocket and a subtle pen pocket so your Sharpie is easily accessible when you need it on the first tee. The waterproof valuables pocket will keep your most precious possessions safe and dry and in the full length apparel pocket, you’ll find enough space to store the clothing and other bulky items you might wish to keep with you. The zippers are easy to use thanks to the covered tassels with the iconic Mizuno runbird logo on.
Another big plus of this bag is the four way top, which I think is the optimum split for making clubs easily accessible - I quite enjoy the clinking sound the clubs make as I walk versus the silence that the organisation of a 14-way top often creates. The towel loop has a little clasp which makes a towel and rangefinder loop easier to attach and there’s even a Velcro tab just above the ball pocket that you can store your glove on if you need to.
Carrying this bag is a pleasure too because not only is it one of the best lightweight golf bags around coming in a just 2kg but the strap system comprises an abundance of padding that really helps disperse the weight evenly across your shoulders. The bag seemed to sit at the perfect angle and the straps can be easily adjusted to alter the height at which it sits on your back, making it one of the best golf bags for seniors .
I suppose the only criticisms of this bag would be that I would have preferred a little more padding on the area that comes into contact with my back. The material the bag is made of also doesn’t have an overly premium feel and I would worry about how long the white sections would stay white if used all year round - this is purely speculation at this stage, of course. Some may also want the legs to protrude a little further out when engaged although it has proven to be stable when at rest so far in testing and there are loops to house the legs when using the BR-D3 on a trolley.
As we've seen in the Ping Hoofer stand bag and TaylorMade FlexTech , a golf bag doesn't need to be fully waterproof to be appealing. If you want a fully waterproof Mizuno stand bag, you’ll need to upgrade to the BR-DR1 for an extra $50, but aside from this the BR-D3 does tick an awful lot of boxes for the serious golfer that demands a functional, stylish and practical stand bag. For the price, it's one of the best golf bags you'll find.

Mizuno Tour Stand Bag Review

What we say...
We had big expectations for this bag with its innovative and strikingly different Aeroframe design, but we were a little disappointed with the performance. Although the Aeroframe did make this bag very sturdy and stable, we found that the solid frame rested annoyingly against our bag when we walked making carrying uncomfortable.
The frame also added unnecessary weight to the bag, making it heavier than others. However by moving the frame to the outside there was more storage space on the inside, making pockets more roomy.
The Mizuno Tour Stand Bag features an Aeroframe structure to deliver the ultimate in lightweight durability. An agile carbon/fibreglass frame supports the bag from the outside eliminating the clutter of interior rods.
There is a Mizuno Kabuki Top Cuff, with a patented organiser 9.5 inch top cuff with 'Divide and Slide' technology that uses the natural weight of the heads to separate the clubs preventing clatter and damage when carried. It features a 5-way divider.
Mizuno Aeroframe Technology is incorporated which includes patented external frame technology, which provides a structure and support to the bag, allowing all stress points to pull off the frame - not the bag. No internal rods prevent possible damage to graphite shafts.
The bag features Mizuno Airflow Hipribs. The Moulded Hipribs prevent perspiration build-up by allowing the free flow of air to the body when carried.
Mizuno Hydrosleeve are an easily accessible integrated water pocket provides for rapid re-hydration during play.
Mizuno Aerostrap which is included is a lightweight and breathable dual shoulder harness with triple padding and IZZO attachment technology.
A golf stand bag like the Mizuno Tour Stand Bag is the preferred method of many golfers for transporting golf clubs and golf equipment round the golf course. Contact: 0118 936 2100, Website: www.mizuno.com

Tour Stand Bag (honest review)
- Thread starter BigPete
- Start date Mar 17, 2015
Well-Known Member
So I got my new stand bag out on the course a couple of times at the weekend. Overall it's a great bag so here's what I thought... Plus - Looks just about perfect - Plenty of space in the pockets - Finally a decent (insulated) easy access drinks pocket - Waterproof valuables pocket which is reasurringly furry lining - Removable pocket section for those of us vain enough to personalise (unfortunately the Penfold sticker didn't stick properly and bit the dust) - Overall I prefer the open plan design compared to the 14 way (not good for short putters with headcovers) or the old style Mizuno Kabuki(?) top (which I found kinda clumsy). The 4 way makes club grabbing easier in my opinion. Minus - The easy grab handle just isn't easy to grab. I like to use the handle on my Adidas bag all the time when setting the bag down but I found I was actually just holding the new bag between the handles most of the time....kinda defeats the object of having handles at all. - The lower (wedge) club compartment takes a bit of wiggling to get more than two clubs in (especially with midsize grips) due to the bottom of the bag not being flat inside presumably to accomodate part of the stand mechanism.... - The stand mechanism!!! It just doesn't deploy quickly enough. This should be a no brainer when designing a stand bag and it's the most annoying thing to have to help the legs out with your foot every time you put the bag down. It would be bad enough in fluffy rough but the legs don't even snap out quickly enough on hard fairways... So what happens next? Can I live with the minuses? Well plans are afoot and the bag may have to take a trip to BigPete's "House of Horrors" (the workshop). - The wedge pocket thing is a minor thing I can live with. - I'm thinking of linking the 2 grab handles with a connecting handle. Just thinking of how to make this work - And as for the stand mech - I just have to work out a way of getting it to snap out quicker, and that will probably mean an extra appendage on the bottom of the flipper to accellerate the leg action. It'll mean it won't stand alone upright but it will never have to. Watch this space....

Whilst I am perfectly happy with my Mizuno staff (about 5 years old) and cart bags (Shinken), both of which are of exceptional quality, the 3 Mizuno stand bags we have at home all have the stand mechanism problems described by Big Pete. My trusted stand bag is a Sun Mountain Zero-G, with a superb stand mechanism. As of this year, Sun Mountain reportedly no longer produces the Titleist stand bags. Would this not open an opportunity for a Mizuno/Sun Mountain joint venture on stand bags? Just an unlearned idea.
I've had one of these for a while now, quite a nifty carry bag even with the unorthodox Aeroframe approach.

Any feedback on this bag from Mizuno based on personal experience? I intend to use it on my clickgear 4.0.

I would really like a premium golf bag without logos (as my bag will be a mix of brands). Vessel is the obvious choice, but very expensive and difficult to ship to Denmark. I love my Ping DLX but I hate to the large Ping logos - especially when I do not carry any Ping clubs anymore.

Have it in blue and white and use it with a Sun Mountain 3 wheel cart.

Can you offer a review or some pros and cons? I'm considering this bag as well vs the SM C130
I prefer the Mizuno over the SM C130 on the cart as the TC bag pockets hold their shape better as the C130 tends to flare out towards the wheels. It’s a tight fit for 2 C130 bags on a ride cart.
The TC individual club divider for the driver has started to fray. I have had the C130 with 5 way top for a long time and prefer the 5 way on a pull or ride cart.
Both have great pockets for storage and easy access.

I have a sun mountain sync and absolutely zero reason to get this but it’s so incredibly tempting

Whilst I am perfectly happy with my Mizuno staff (about 5 years old) and cart bags (Shinken), both of which are of exceptional quality, the 3 Mizuno stand bags we have at home all have the stand mechanism problems described by Big Pete.

This is an old thread, but in case it's useful I got the new black version when it came out a year ago, coming from a 2020 Mizuno br-d4 bag that I liked a lot. It's been a good bag, except for the legs. The seem to be less sturdy, more fragile than older Mizuno models, they don't extend as well as my son's Hoofer that has gotten similar use.
