Marie Osmond: An Orchestral Christmas

Saturday, december 16th, 2023 / 7:00 pm.

Marie Osmond has spent over six iconic decades in the entertainment business performing as a successful singer, television performer and talk show host, dancer, actor, author, entrepreneur and public speaker. She has continued to maintain relevance, remaining an instantly recognizable figure across the globe. Her debut single "Paper Roses" reached the #1 spot on two Billboard charts, a feat that not only placed her among an elite class of musical royalty, but instantly catapulted her into international superstardom. She is a multiple gold and platinum selling artist and CMA winner, garnering numerous Billboard chart-topping singles and albums, and three New York Times Bestselling books. She has entertained millions throughout the world through television, radio, film, literature, live concerts and Broadway performances. As a philanthropist, she cofounded Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which has raised over 8 billion dollars for children to date. Marie was recently awarded "The Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service" by 4-Star General Bob Brown, US Army Pacific (representing Secretary of Defense James Mattis), during her Birthday concert in Hawaii. In 2019 the Hollywood Beauty Awards gave Marie the "Timeless Beauty Award" which is an honor bestowed upon a public figure that has maintained their grace and remained a positive influence and role model to their fans throughout their career. In August of 2019 Marie and Donny received the Key to the Las Vegas Strip and in October 2019 they cemented their legacy with a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. Marie was previously a co-host on the award-winning daytime show "The Talk." Since Marie and brother Donny ended their 11-year residency at the Flamingo in November 2019, she travels the US with her sell-out Symphonic shows. Her performances receive rave reviews. She has also starred in three Lifetime Christmas movies: "The Road Home for Christmas" (2019), "The Christmas Edition" (2020) and most recently "A Fiancé For Christmas" (2021). Marie's Top 10 Billboard Country Chart album, Music is Medicine , has been the perfect set up for her recently released Unexpected studio album which pushed her voice to remarkable heights and debuted #1 on Billboard's Classical Crossover Albums Chart following its December, 2021 release. It spent 16 weeks in the Top 10, having re-entered and re-entered the charts - Marie appropriately named the album because it was such an 'unexpected' surprise for her. She says she did it for the fans who allowed her to reach this high. "Unexpected" is dedicated to her father who encouraged Marie to follow her passion and sing every style of music she loved. Marie continues to perform and raise money for children's hospitals, research and awareness. She has influenced countless audiences and benefited an innumerable amount of lives worldwide. To say Daniel Emmet has a divine voice would not be an exaggeration. This multilingual rising star's propensity to blow you away with unparalleled power is simply stunning, and his ability to keep beloved classics contemporary, while celebrating music and artistry with eternal beauty, once heard, is never to be forgotten. Since making a name for himself as a top 10 Finalist on NBC's America's Got Talent, Daniel has released multiple #1 singles on the iTunes Classical Chart, and in addition, Daniel has headlined shows in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace, T-Mobile Arena, Paris Las Vegas, and Westgate Las Vegas. He has appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, on PBS, the CW, Lifetime TV, Fox Sports, ESPN+, toured and recorded with Marie Osmond, and most recently returned to America's Got Talent this past season for his viral performances as "the singing voice of Simon Cowell". Daniel is currently on tour with 16x GRAMMY Award Winner David Foster and Katharine McPhee, as well as appearing around the United States with his own symphonic shows. His highly anticipated debut concert special "Daniel Emmet & Pia Toscano, Simply the Best" — filmed at the iconic International Theatre at Westgate Las Vegas — began premiering nationwide in the United States on PBS this past November. Daniel's first studio album released December 16th on all digital and streaming platforms, and debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Classical Crossover Albums Chart and at #1 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Albums Chart.

Marie Osmond is back in Utah to celebrate Christmas onstage

M arie Osmond is kicking off her latest Christmas mini-tour in Salt Lake City, with both some old stuff and some new. How long does it take to put something like this together?

“Um, six decades,” she said, smiling broadly.

And she wasn’t kidding. The 64-year-old’s career stretches back that long, and she’s drawing on that for her two performances at the Eccles Theater on Saturday, Dec. 2, kicking off her short “Christmas With Marie”

“I know Christmas,” she said. “I think people will have a good time.”

It’s a Christmas show, but not everything in it will be Christmasy.

“There are just a couple elements that I think people will enjoy. Not too much. You don’t want to force anything down anyone’s throat. They’re coming to see a Christmas show,” Osmond said. “There’s only so many ‘Jingle Bells’ you can sing, so I am going to do a few of those pivotal songs that people will remember.”

Including her first big hit, “Paper Roses,” which — believe it or not — was released just over half a century ago, in August 1973.

Osmond hasn’t been doing holiday shows all her life, but pretty close. “I’ve probably done more Christmas shows than my brothers,” she said. “Well, I started out doing Christmas shows before I ever did any Donny and Marie stuff.”

As a teenager, she joined Bob Hope as he traveled overseas to perform for American troops. “It was pretty cool stuff, and some hard things I’ve seen with that,” Osmond said. “It makes you really appreciate what the men and women go through. Not just them, but their families.”

She recalled performing on the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin five days before it fired its first missile in the 1991 Gulf War. The Wisconsin is now a museum ship docked in Norfolk, Virginia, and hers is “one of the few signatures they saved when they painted that thing. They have it under Plexiglas. And I just thought that was so sweet of them to do that.”

After all these years, she knows how to put on a Christmas show that people will enjoy. At the Eccles, she’ll be backed by her band and the Lyceum Philharmonic. There will be “lots of fun videos” of Osmond Christmases past. She’ll be joined by singer Daniel Emmet, best known as a finalist on “America’s Got Talent.”

“I stole him from David Foster, so he’s not happy with me right now,” Osmond joked. “With Daniel, it’s going to be incredible. … I’ll be able to do a broader vocal performance of Christmas music because of the way he sings.”

And the show will be “very interactive. I love my audiences. It’s really fun that way.”

She’s looking at it as a Christmas gift for her fans. “I don’t remember what [presents] I got five years ago,” Osmond said, “but I remember things I did with my children. Events. And those are the things that I think are worth the money to go out with the people you love, whether it’s friends or family or your grandkids.”

The most unexpected thing on Saturday might just be that Osmond is performing at both 3 and 8 p.m. Told that it’s a surprise she’s doing two shows in one day, her immediate response was, “Me, too, baby. How did that happen?” she asked, bursting out laughing. She was “talked into doing two shows in one day, which I never do. Never. Because it’s a big, big show vocally.”

Happy to be back in Utah

She said that she probably wouldn’t have agreed to two shows in a day anywhere else but in Utah.

“I love being back here. I love Utah. And I was born here,” Osmond said. “But I’m kind of a valley girl. I was raised in the San Fernando Valley [in Los Angeles]. But coming back here as a teenager, I kind of, like, found myself here.”

She said she loves hiking and camping in the mountains.

“When we traveled, I would always go out with my dad and explore all the countries that we would go to and try the food and everything. But my brothers didn’t,” she said. “And my dad would say, ‘I’m so glad I have one son in this family.’”

Retirement is not on her bucket list

Osmond has no plans to retire, but she also has no plans to work as hard as she did for so many years. “I have never not worked a year in the six decades,” Osmond said. “Now, I’m not doing a lot. I don’t work as hard as I used to. I work more smart, if that makes sense. I’m also playing a lot, which I’ve never done.”

She is currently scheduled for six concerts in four cities in December, and three more in three cities in January. “I don’t need to support my family. I don’t have to do those things anymore, which I had to because I was the sole provider for a long, long time,” she said. “And then my album did so well that it’s provided me wonderful opportunities.”

She enjoys doing short tours, “not five days a week, year after year. It gives me time to do other things that I want to do. ... I think that’s why I’m enjoying my life so much right now, just doing all the things I probably couldn’t have done over the years.”

After working hard for decades — concerts, albums, live shows, TV shows , Broadway and more — Osmond has been working on her “bucket lists. I got to climb the pyramids, and I climbed Mount Sinai. And I went to see the icebergs in Iceland. And jumped out of an airplane. And I just did a mean character on a soap [‘The Bold and the Beautiful’]. Yeah, a little snot. It was fun. We’ve been talking about doing this for years.”

Since 2011, as a matter of fact. But scheduling conflicts prevented it from happening until October, when Osmond guest starred as Countess Van Frankfurt, a fashionista with an attitude. “I’m just having fun,” she said.

Marie and the grandchildren

Osmond has been open about her personal struggles, even authoring the book “Behind the Smile: My Journey Out of Postpartum Depression” in 2002, and following that up in 2009 with, “Might As Well Laugh About It Now.” In 2010, her son Michael — one of five children she adopted with her second husband, Brian Blosil — took his own life at age 18 after battling depression and addiction for years.

But today, she’s happily remarried to her first husband, Steve Craig — they married in 1982 and divorced in 1985, and remarried in 2011. And, she said, she is “so blessed to have great kids. They’re all different, though. I couldn’t have eight more different kids on the planet.”

And then there are the nine grandchildren. She and Steve recently babysat four of them while their son, Steve Jr., and his wife went on vacation. She was spending time with 4-year-old Maxwell, “and he goes, ‘Grandma, are you famous? People say you’re famous.’ I said, ‘No, honey, I’m just your grandma.’”

She does admit that she spoils the grandchildren. “That’s our job. We’ve already done the parenting thing. I don’t want to do that anymore,” Osmond said. “I just want to spoil them.”

Although she’ll be spending a good deal of time on the road in the weeks leading up to Christmas, she’ll be ready for the holiday at home.

“My tree’s already up, baby,” she said with a smile. “It’s always up before Thanksgiving. Then I can actually enjoy it before I get home for Christmas and take it down a week later.”

‘Unexpected’ success

Osmond isn’t surprised by the success of her latest album, titled “Unexpected” — she’s “shocked.”

When it was released in December 2021, it debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart, spent 29 weeks in the top 10, and went to No. 6 on the Classical Albums chart.

“Boy, did I name that album right,” she said.

It was a departure for her. Backed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, she performs everything from American standards to opera.

“I told my husband — I said, ‘I’d like to record an album that’s so esoteric for me.’ I can sing multiple genres of music.” She sings in five different languages, “and every song has a meaning to me. If you read the really fine print on the CD, you’ll know. It goes on and on and on. …

“It was just one of those things that I wanted to do as an artist. And then it ended up being one of my biggest albums. It’s crazy. And I’m not young!” she said with a laugh. “So it was a shocker. It was very humbling.”

Osmond said “Unexpected” represents who she is musically. “I’ve always been a little esoteric,” she said. “I should have gone into pop music because my brothers, they all had connections. But I went country because I loved country.”

She’ll be singing cuts from “Unexpected” at the concerts. “That’s my thank you to all my fans for the six decades that they have allowed me to be in a business that I love,” she said, “and keep trying new things and reinventing myself. They’ve been there the whole way. …

“And I’ve always been very passionate about music,” she said — and then proved her point as she spoke passionately about “Song to the Moon,” which is on the new album: “I did it kind of Emmylou Harris style, but it’s supposed to be done high, high soprano in [Czech]. But the words are so beautiful that I did it kind of that Emmylou harmony. But you’ll hear a very high, high siren in the back. That’s me. And then at the very end, I sing high soprano. And I sing [Czech] to kind of say, ‘I could have done it. But I wanted you to know the words.’”

Marie and Kurt Bestor

Bestor won’t appear on stage at Osmond’s Christmas show, but they “just did an a cappella thing that we’re going to put in the show that he helped me kind of do some pieces and parts for.”

The two have known each other since the late 1970s. “When we came here to build our studio, it was a fluke accident that we found him,” Osmond said. The trumpet player scheduled to perform with Marie and Donny missed his flight from Los Angeles, and they needed a replacement so they could lay down the music tracks for that week’s show. So they put out a call for the best trumpet player who could be there immediately.

“I think he lied about his age. He said he was older than he was,” Osmond said. But he performed well and impressed the show’s musical directors, who asked, “’Do you write sheet music? Can you do charts?’ And he goes, ‘Oh, sure.’ He totally lied about it,” Osmond said, “but he went in and studied hard. And he came back and he did a decent job.”

Marie Osmond Faced Her Fears Recording New Album 'Unexpected' : 'I've Never Been Been Afraid to Take Chances'

Marie Osmond's A Symphonic Christmas  tour kicks off on Dec. 1

marie osmond christmas tour

More than 11 years have passed since Marie Osmond lost her son Michael to suicide , 11 years that the iconic entertainer has filled with a mix of shows and albums and children and grandchildren, all in an attempt to live the fulfilling life her son would have wanted her to live.

But there are still moments when her heart hurts like it was yesterday.

"'Somewhere' was a very difficult song for me to sing," Osmond, 62, tells PEOPLE of the West Side Story favorite that is now lovingly featured on her album Unexpected . "It has all the emotion of losing my son, you know? That was tough."

His memory welled up in her eyes and shone through her soaring voice yet again as she recorded "Pie Jesu," a song that she has sung countless times since Michael's death and a song that she now performs as a tribute to her late son.

"My son Michael loved it when I practiced that song," she remembers. "I sang for him, in honor of him."

Indeed, for someone whose entire life has been filled with music, it's not surprising that some songs simply inspire her more than others, whether she is thinking of her late son or her late father, who encouraged her pursue whatever type of music that ultimately stirred her soul. And while conjuring those memories are always somewhat painful, Osmond says it's something she forces herself to do.

"This album was a scary project," she says of the record, on which she is joined by The Prague Symphony Orchestra. "But I've never been one who's been afraid to take chances. I learned a long time ago that if something isn't working or something isn't making you happy, you need to close that door and not be afraid of a new door opening. That's the key."

But most of all, as Osmond pushed her voice to remarkable heights on this new album, the musical icon did it for the fans who allowed her to reach this high.

"This album is my thank you to them," she says of Unexpected , an opera-meets-American standards album that is set for release Dec. 10, but available for pre-order here . "This album wouldn't have happened without them. I mean, of all the people in the world, I never expected I'd be lucky, especially as a woman, to be in this business for this long. I never would've had the opportunity to do an album like this if [the fans] hadn't kept me out there and pushing myself."

Of course, while some eyebrows may raise at the mere sound of Osmond's heavenly operettic voice, it is a form of music she has long loved ever since she began performing on Broadway.

"I was a Rodgers and Hammerstein girl for a while where I did shows like The Sound of Music and The King and I on Broadway," says Osmond, who actually has 20 years of opera training experience. "I remember going in and saying, 'I can't sing the hills are alive with a country accent.' She laughs. "The lady who was training me said, 'My dear, you're a soprano. And you can sing opera if you want.' And I was like, 'Shut up!' And so, I spent the last 20 years learning how to do it."

And while some of her operettic style songs did find their way to the stage of her long-running but now-shuttered Vegas show, including Giacomo Puccini's "Nessun Dorma" (from the opera Turandot ), Osmond is now looking forward to an extended amount of time out on the road.

"I'm doing a bunch of symphonic touring in 2022," says Osmond, whose youngest child recently became the last one to leave the house. "It allows me to not have to be locked down one place. Plus, it gives me time to go see my grandchildren's football games and spend time with my husband and all these other things that I want to do."

But first, her time is focused on her A Symphonic Christmas tour, which kicks off Dec. 1 with special guests David Osmond and Daniel Emmet.

"There's something about live symphonic music that vibrates in your soul," she explains. "The tones and the notes… it's just so incredibly healing. And there aren't many people doing it anymore. I just feel like there's this place within me where I think, 'Please don't lose this for this upcoming generation because it's life-changing.'"

Most importantly to Osmond, it's also a show that can be enjoyed by families.

"These shows and this album are something is something that a grandmother can take her granddaughters and her daughter, and they can all go out and have an experience that they'll remember," says Osmond, whose new Lifetime movie, A Fiancé for Christmas , which premieres on Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET. "All I want to do with the touring is just have people go out and have joy."

Osmond’s debut single “Paper Roses” reached the No. 1 spot on two Billboard charts, a feat that not only placed her among an elite class of musical royalty but instantly catapulted her into international superstardom.

Center Presents Marie Osmond

Going beyond her small-screen fame co-hosting “Donny & Marie,” Osmond has remained an instantly recognizable figure across the globe. Since she and brother Donny ended their 11-year Las Vegas residency at the Flamingo in 2019, she has traveled the nation with sell-out shows featuring a 30-piece orchestra. Osmond’s latest album is 2021’s “Unexpected,” a collection of Broadway and opera classics.

Osmond is a multiple gold and platinum selling artist and CMA winner, garnering numerous Billboard chart-topping singles and albums and three New York Times Bestselling books. As a philanthropist, Osmond cofounded Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which has raised more than 8 billion dollars for children to date. Marie was recently awarded “The Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service” by four-star General Bob Brown, US Army Pacific (representing Secretary of Defense James Mattis), during her birthday concert in Hawaii.

Osmond’s recently released “Unexpected” studio album pushed her voice to remarkable heights and debuted No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Albums Chart following its December 2021 release. It has spent several weeks in the Top 10, having entered and re-entered the charts.

Osmond has always had great affection for her countless fans and personally keeps in touch daily with them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram:

Janelle Morrison: You have enjoyed a remarkable career, and now with the holiday season approaching, you have decided to end your residency in Las Vegas and tour again. What was the motivating factor behind that decision?

Marie Osmond: It’s interesting — philosophically, I don’t really need to tour anymore. I really love being home with my eight children [pauses] well, I have seven now, but I will always have eight. And I have eight grandchildren. I am a spiritual and intuitive person, you know what I mean? I think to have survived my career — this is my 6th decade of performing consistently — as a female [artist] is just ridiculous in this business. There’s not many of us, and even my sweet friend Olivia [Newton-John] had five decades. But I’m still young, and I believe that you find the holiday spirit through serving others. So, it was an absolute must to go out and do shows. People are so sad right now. Some are lonely, some have lost loved ones, and some are financially stressed. So, for these reasons, I made the decision to go to them instead of having them come to Las Vegas. It’s not about the profit. That’s not why I am doing it. I give [the tour] the “Marie Osmond Good Housekeeping Stamp of Approval”! You will leave feeling happy — I promise you!

JM: Your show features several different musical genres that you appear to effortlessly perform. Is there any one genre or a few that resonate with you more than the others, or do you enjoy them all equally?

Osmond: Yes, and I’ll tell which ones during my show! I am one of those few entertainers that can sing multiple genres, and I don’t think there’s many of us, but I love putting all of that into a show because it gives something to everybody. I really love doing that. I am going to put one or actually maybe two songs from new album in the show. I was blown away by the success of the album, honestly because it’s my farewell album, and I did it strictly because I spent 25 years learning to sing soprano and opera. I sing in German, French and Italian. Now, the album isn’t strictly [opera]. I do songs from the Great American Songbook like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” which is really the song that got me to sing when I was a little girl in “the business.” I knew when I heard [Judy Garland] and looked into her eyes, she knew my life and what it was like to be a child performer. I’ll also be singing “Unexpected,” the title cut.

JM: Speaking of your album “Unexpected,” congratulations on it being in the top ten for multiple weeks. Isn’t it like 22-plus weeks or more now?

Osmond: It keeps going back up in the top ten, and I’m like, “Shut up!” It’s my best album ever, and it’s the last. [Laughing] My brothers all tease me, “Wow, Marie. You beat us all.” Not that there’s competition in my family whatsoever! “Unexpected” was such a sweet and truly unexpected thing for me. It was a labor of love. It was recorded in Prague, and I really enjoyed doing it.

JM: Knowing how challenging times have been and continue to be for people throughout our nation, what words of encouragement do you have for your fans as we begin to plan for the holiday season and a brand-new year?

Osmond: I don’t know how much longer I’ll do this [touring], but I really do love people. And people are so sad, it just breaks my heart. I do these messages on social media and I do all these things to try and lift people up. You can get through it — I promise you. I’ve seen the other side of hell and back in my life. And I know there’s people that are worse off. Serving [others] gets you through it. So, get some people together and come to the show and enjoy each other. Because you don’t know how much longer you will have each other. I promise you this show will be so fun! You will laugh and you will cry. So, go out and celebrate this time of year. We need to experience joy and happiness again.

JM: In addition to joy and happiness, what else can we expect to experience when you perform at the Palladium in December?

Osmond: It’s going to be so fun! I’m doing some elements that are not only “Christmas,” but I’m going to take them down memory lane a little bit and remember times past. I’ve been associated with some of the best Christmas shows, I think, on the planet from Andy Williams to Bob Hope and my own specials with “Donny & Marie,” and we’re going to make you remember what’s good in life, I promise you! And I’m bringing David Osmond [nephew] who is a bona fide miracle. Wait until you hear this kid sing! There’s just the two of us in our family that can sing multiple genres of music, so you’re going to hear everything from big band to opera to traditional. It’s going to be so fun! We’re going to give it everything that we have out there!

Review: ‘Marie Osmond: A Symphonic Christmas’ was an awesome holiday show

marie osmond christmas tour

Detroit — Marie Osmond, a singer, actress, author, philanthropist and the (only girl in the Osmond family musical group) was at the Sound Board, inside the MotorCity Casino, on Monday night.

She spent six decades in the entertainment business which included a stint in Las Vegas.  Well, maybe not a stint, it was 11 years and more than 1,000 performances with her brother Donny at The Flamingo Hotel and Casino.

On Monday evening, she performed “A Symphonic Christmas” in Detroit, along with her nephew David Osmond, and Daniel Emmet, which was the last performance of her Christmas tour for the season.

David Osmond is the son of the oldest of the Osmond brothers, Alan.  He explained that his father is no longer performing because he has been diagnosed with muscular sclerosis.  “I also have MS and I had no feeling from my chest down.  I proposed to my wife in a wheelchair.  But by the grace of God, I am here today on this stage.”  God is good, he says.

Daniel Emmet, an opera singer, was a finalist on America’s Got Talent .  This evening he sang “O Holy Night.”  There were many Christmas songs sung in the nearly two-hour concert.  Marie sang one song that wasn’t a Christmas song.  It was her famous song called “Paper Roses” from 1973.  There were still pictures and videos of her and her family on the large screen on stage behind the orchestra.  Her new album titled “Unexpected” which just came out last week is already number one on the charts.  The last song she sang was “How Great Thou Art”, which was amazing.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance as I have always admired her and her musical family since I’ve seen clips when she was a child singing on The Andy Williams Show .  I also saw her in Las Vegas along with her brother, Donny.  Their shows are amazing and totally entertaining.

Ma rie Osmond will make upcoming tour stops at Seneca Niagara Events Center in Niagara Falls, NY on Jan. 21, RP Funding Center in Lakeland, FL on Jan. 22 and the Edgewater Casino Resort in Laughlin, NV on Feb. 19. Visit her official website at: https://www.marieosmond.com/

Marie Osmond is exceptional in ‘A Symphonic Christmas’ concert

marie osmond christmas tour

By Jackie Moe

There is talent. And then there is Marie Osmond.

In the third stop of her “A Symphonic Christmas” tour, the entertainment icon kicked off the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts’ season with holiday glitz, glamour, nostalgia, fun, and jaw-dropping vocals that were sure to have left her large audience with an unforgettable evening.

Although the night was full of memorable highlights, here are standout moments that deserve a special shoutout:

Marie’s opera vocals are flawless and her stage presence is unmatched. Her personable nature, storytelling abilities, and warm wit make even a large theater feel intimate. The stage was full of lit-up Christmas trees, an award-winning orchestra, and the talented Cal State Fullerton chorus. Her dazzling fashion alone is a sight to see.

As promised in her Backstage SoCal interview , she performed Christmas favorites, songs from her new album (out Dec. 10) “Unexpected,” and of course, her classics, including the hit single “Paper Roses” which launched her country career in 1973. She sang the iconic song with her younger self in past videos playing on a screen behind her.

While performing a fun rendition of “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” in a captain cap, the backdrop screen displayed historical images and videos of Marie performing and meeting U.S.S. servicemen over the past six decades.

Singer David Osmond, Marie’s nephew and son of older brother Alan, joined her on stage for a holiday medley and a few solos. Before singing “Mary Did You Know?” he shared that his father who has Multiple Sclerosis always says, “I have M.S., but M.S. doesn’t have me.” Then he shared that he, too, has the disease but it doesn’t stop him from performing, proving that to the audience with impressive dance moves and vocals.

Also joining her on stage was multilingual/classical singer Daniel Emmet, a finalist on Season 13 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent , whose powerful opera vocals boomed over the theater in duets and solos. The three sang a couple of fun holiday medleys together, and finished with a powerful “Silent Night.”

In a poignant moment, she gently sang “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” with commentary recognizing the pandemic hardships the world has endured over the past year-and-a-half. There was plenty of fun as well, including bringing an audience member on stage with her, placing a Santa hat with a shield on their face, and having them sing “Blue Christmas.”

As a dedication to her late son Michael, who passed away in 2010, Marie sang a beautiful rendition of “How Great Thou Art,” leaving not a dry eye in the house. Her own tears shed as she thanked her fans for six successful decades, and dedicated an emotional Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Unexpected Song” (from her new album) to her adoring fanbase.
