1-Day Magic Kingdom Itinerary

disney world tour magic kingdom

Our 1-day Magic Kingdom touring plan offers a step by step itinerary for an ideal visit to Walt Disney World, with strategy to wait in lines less, avoid crowds, and score a spot in the TRON Lightcycle Run virtual queue. We’d ride these attractions, eat at these restaurants & snack stands, and more. ( Updated July 2, 2024 .)

This one-day Magic Kingdom itinerary has been overhauled several times in the last year, including for TRON Lightcycle Run and the return of Happily Ever After fireworks. It also takes into account Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours, Lightning Lanes, elevated crowds, and hard ticket parties.

A lot has changed at Magic Kingdom this year, and even more is ‘in flux’ as of Summer 2024 thanks to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Country Bear Musical Jamboree in Frontierland, as well as the debut of Lightning Lane Multi Pass, potential closures of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Peter Pan’s Flight, plus whatever else is happening. We’ve been testing and tweaking our strategy, and devised this revised 2024 Magic Kingdom itinerary as a result, including rope drop priority and when to do Seven Dwarfs Mine Train…

July 2, 2024 Update:  As the prior paragraph suggests, a lot has changed and will change over the course of the next month at Magic Kingdom. Some of these things will or could change within the next week, so I don’t have the time or inclination to overhaul this itinerary as a result. Instead, here are some need-to-know bullet points:

  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is open
  • During its initial opening period, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has no standby line–it instead uses a virtual queue and has a Lightning Lane (see How to Ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for everything you need to know)
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is averaging multiple hours of downtime per day (as such, you should prioritize it to minimize the likelihood of breakdowns preventing you from riding)
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure could open a standby line as early as July 8, 2024 (but probably won’t until the ride is reliable)
  • Once Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens a standby line, it becomes the #1 rope drop priority
  • Country Bear Musical Jamboree opens on July 17, 2024 (it will not have long lines, except perhaps on July 17)
  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass replaces Genie+ on July 24, 2024 (see our Guide to Lightning Lane Multi-Pass & Single Pass at Walt Disney World )
  • Peter Pan’s Flight is closed for refurbishment from July 8 through August 20, 2024
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad likely will close for around a year starting in September 2024

As you can see, there are a lot of moving parts right now and will be for the next month-plus. Our next update to the steps below will come after  Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has a standby line  and Lightning Lane Multi Pass has launched and settles into normal trends. Our assumption is that’ll be sometime in August 2024. While more is on the horizon after that, none of it matters as much as those two major variables.

disney world tour magic kingdom

This Magic Kingdom itinerary also assumes you will not be buying the Lightning Lane line-skipping services. If you do plan on spending the extra, consult our 1-Day Magic Kingdom Itinerary with Genie+ and Lightning Lanes . Without a doubt, Genie+ is most useful at Magic Kingdom–the one park where we recommend readers purchase the upcharge.

If you’re staying on-site and can arrive early, check out our report on Early Entry at Magic Kingdom . Likewise, if you’re staying at a Deluxe Resort or Disney Vacation Club property, read about our experience during Extended Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom . Either of those things will help you save time and avoid crowds, giving you a big advantage. However, neither are strictly necessary for a productive day in MK.

While efficiency is a big goal, this Magic Kingdom itinerary focuses on both doing as many rides as possible while still enjoying the Disney ambiance and details that make Magic Kingdom the most popular theme park in the world. Our Magic Kingdom itinerary is somewhat subjective in that it covers our favorite things to do during our “perfect day.” Additionally, this Magic Kingdom touring plan is optimized so that wait times are minimized.

To accomplish everything in a single day, some (less popular) attractions and shows are skipped. (Sorry, Magic Carpets of Aladdin! Actually… not sorry. ) For our ride ratings and reviews of every attraction, read our comprehensive Best Magic Kingdom Attractions & Ride Guide post. For something more comprehensive to plan every aspect of your vacation, from where to purchase discount tickets to when to visit and more, read our 2024 Walt Disney World Vacation Planning Guide .

Get on the grid to enter The Grid – On the morning of your Magic Kingdom day, at least one person in your party will need to be awake and online before 7 am. This is because guests with a valid ticket and a Disney Park Pass reservation for Magic Kingdom will be able to access the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle Run starting at 7 am on the day of their park visit. This is done outside the park– before you leave your resort hotel, or from literally anywhere.

The 7 am virtual queue fills up fast. Our How to Ride TRON Lightcycle Run & Virtual Queue Speed Strategy is essential reading and covers everything you need to know–like increasing your chances of success! If you’re unsuccessful at 7 am, you can try again to join the virtual queue again at 1 pm from inside Magic Kingdom. (Alternatively, you can gamble and  only  attempt to join at 1 pm if you’d prefer to ride at night.)

Add TRON Lightcycle Run into this itinerary whenever is convenient after your boarding group gets called. You have an hour to return to the attraction from receiving the notification that it’s your time to ride. Upon arrival, you’ll enter The Grid of TRON!

disney world tour magic kingdom

Pre-Rope Drop Arrival – For an ideal experience at Magic Kingdom, we recommend arriving to the park about 30 minutes before official opening time, and picking up this itinerary from there. If you’re driving, this means leaving for the park to allow sufficient time to park and get from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) to Magic Kingdom.

If you’re staying on-site and are eligible for Early Entry at Magic Kingdom (see above), we’d recommend arriving 45 minutes before the official start time of that.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Fantasyland Flight? – If you’re not eligible for Early Entry, do not bother with Fantasyland or Tomorrowland. Those are the two lands open for that on-site perk, and by the time that 30 minute “headstart” is over, all of the headliner attractions in both lands will have moderate or longer wait times.

Instead, you should head to the left of Cinderella Castle and focus your energy on Adventureland or Frontierland–popular attractions that are not open for Early Entry…

disney world tour magic kingdom

Set Sail for Adventure(land) – While this recommendation might seem unorthodox, Jungle Cruise has become one of the most popular attractions in Magic Kingdom following its reimagining. In fact, Jungle Cruise is the #4 attraction by average in the last year. Accordingly, we’d recommend knocking it out first.

Immediately after Jungle Cruise, one option is right next door: Pirates of the Caribbean. This is the easy choice if you want to minimize walking. It’s also the best choice now that Splash Mountain is closed–you can actually usually arrive in Frontierland a little later and still knock out Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with minimal wait.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Magic Kingdom Classics — Double back to Tangled Toilet Territory (not the official name of this area… but it should be! ) and do Haunted Mansion followed by the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and ‘it’s a small world’.

We realize that involves a bit of backtracking, but waits for Winnie the Pooh’s dark ride usually get longer than ‘it’s a small world,’ so it’s the objectively superior approach. If you want to save some steps, it’s not a big deal to do them in the reverse order.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Character Intermission  – While you’re in Pooh’s neck of the (100 acre) woods, now can be a good time to knock out some character meet & greets if you’re so inclined. A couple of these open after the rest of Magic Kingdom, and they typically have lower crowd levels in the first hour that they’re open because most guests prioritize rides. Accordingly, it can be a good time to knock out the following:

  • Meet Daring Disney Pals as Circus Stars at Pete’s Silly Sideshow
  • Meet Dashing Disney Pals as Circus Stars at Pete’s Silly Sideshow
  • Meet Ariel at Her Grotto
  • Meet Mirabel at Fairytale Garden
  • Meet Various Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall

Obviously, you’re going to know if princesses are important to your party. If so, you should prioritize Princess Fairytale Hall and Mirabel (there’s a path that cuts from Fairytale Hall to Fairytale Garden, which is in front/to the side of Cinderella Castle) above The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The princesses are popular and offer Lightning Lane line-skipping, so you want to beat the late-arriving crowd there.

Personally, Pete’s Silly Sideshow is my favorite of the bunch. The “daring” Disney pals are Goofy and Donald Duck as circus performers. The “dashing” pals are Daisy and Minnie Mouse, looking lovely as always. The costumes for both sets of characters are fantastic. Ariel is also a good pick–her line gets a lot worse later in the day since this is a popular-but-low-capacity meet & greet.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Space Out – The above is likely all you’ll be able to accomplish before crowds build, so continue from the far corner of Fantasyland to Tomorrowland. If the line for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is under 30 minutes, do that. Knock out Space Mountain too via the standby line.

To recap, before lunch you’ll hopefully have accomplished the following, in order:

  • Jungle Cruise
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (optional–save for later if it’s too much walking)
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Character Meet & Greets ( optional)
  • Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • ‘it’s a small world’
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Space Mountain

On a really busy day, you might only hit the first 4 of these. On a slower day, you might be able to accomplish even more than we have listed here. Either way, to achieve all of this, it’s imperative that you arrive before official park opening time. If you arrive later, you’ll be lucky to do half of this list.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Leisurely Late Lunch – If you’re able to accomplish ~8 attractions to start the morning, you should have time for an early sit-down lunch. We recommend a table service option, with our favorite foods being at Skipper Canteen –an underrated gem of Magic Kingdom dining .

Right now, there aren’t many great counter service dining options in Magic Kingdom. Our go-to is recommended for dinner; other alternatives are Pecos Bill in Frontierland or Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland. Neither are great, but both get the job done. Alternatively, two fun sleeper picks are Sleepy Hollow and Friar’s Nook–just be sure to look at menus before doing either of those, as their options are more limited.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Magic Kingdom Masterpiece Theater – Afternoon is when any Disney theme park has its longest lines, so take an AC break with these life-changing (in a good way) shows that are just too awesome for the general public to comprehend.

Hit up Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room or Country Bear Jamboree during the hottest and busiest time of the day. Country Bear Jamboree is the only must-do of these, and is beloved around the world by highly intelligent and attractive people. While you’re in their neck of the woods, be sure to wave to Big Al and his crew.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Catch the 3 O’clock Parade – Festival of Fantasy is Magic Kingdom’s daytime parade, which arrives to Main Street roughly 20 minutes after the parade steps off in Frontierland. The float that captures everyone’s eye is the steampunk-esque Maleficent dragon float that breathes fire, which makes for a photogenic scene. The whole parade is great, though, with Tangled, Peter Pan, Monstro, and princess floats that are quite cool.

Add to this performers in costumes that have a lot of detail and are, in some cases, a bit darker and more interesting than the ‘fantasy fluff’ you’d expect to find in a Magic Kingdom parade, a catchy soundtrack, and a great energy, and you have a parade that’s a real winner. Frontierland is least crowded, but the area around Cinderella Castle and Main Street makes for better photos.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Masterpiece Intermission: More Snacking – You have a few options to choose from, as covered in our Best Magic Kingdom Snacks & Desserts . This list was just updated and expanded, and now also includes the worst snacks that we highly recommend avoiding.

If you did the ‘Masterpieces’ out of order and are in Liberty Square or Adventureland, the good news is that there are wonderful snacks in both of those lands, too. This includes the Dole Whip and Citrus Swirl, which are beloved among Walt Disney World fans! While you’re passing through Adventureland, be sure to do Pirates of the Caribbean if you haven’t already.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Fantasyland Fun – Without Genie+ or Early Entry, you’re at a serious disadvantage when it comes to doing the popular family-friendly Fantasyland attractions. As such, the goal is to “outlast” the crowds, doing these rides in the late afternoon and early evening as families with small children start to wear out and head for the exits.

We’d recommend knocking out the remaining Fantasyland attractions in this order:

  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic
  • Barnstormer Starring the Great Goofini ( skippable )
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Mad Tea Party ( skippable )
  • Peter Pan’s Flight

Of those, the only long wait you should encounter is Peter Pan’s Flight. There’s really no way around that one.

disney world tour magic kingdom

All Quiet on the Western Front — If you skipped it earlier, make your way back to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in late afternoon, as crowds should depart from this dead-end corner of the park by now.

With Splash Mountain now closed until at least mid-2024 (to convert the log flume ride to a Princess and the Frog attraction ), there’s no need to prioritize this area of the park. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is popular, but not that  popular.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Cinderella Castle Stage Show  – If your family is into characters, be sure to see Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. This features a few songs from  Frozen, Tangled, and Princess and the Frog , plus characters from those films and Mickey Mouse and friends. It’s cute and well done.

While you can catch this throughout the day, we’d strongly recommend catching one of the last two performances. The sunlight and heat can be brutal for earlier showtimes, and Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is relatively lengthy. ( Or so it feels when standing directly in the blazing sun, heat and humidity! )

disney world tour magic kingdom

Tomorrowland Tranquility – After sunset, we recommend returning to Tomorrowland. Not because it’s strategically important–to the contrary, it’s not–but because the atmosphere is improved. The neon lights shine bright and really pop, and the bland land during the daytime has a ton more personality.

While in Tomorrowland, be sure to do the PeopleMover, which is a leisurely ride above the land. Once finished with that, head over to Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, which is a stage show chronicling innovations of the 20th century. You can also do Tomorrowland Speedway if it interests you. At night, Astro Orbiter is a must-do. The line is shorter and the atmosphere is so much better.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Dinner: Be Our Guest Restaurant – Still the most popular restaurant in Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest Restaurant ( read our full review ) remains a very hard Advance Dining Reservation to score. The theming and attention to detail are great here and the food is ambitious for a restaurant in the Magic Kingdom (let alone in New Fantasyland), with several solid menu items. Make sure to check out the West Wing!

If you are able, grab an Advance Dining Reservation before your vacation. If you’re unable to score a reservation, keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for Walk-Up Waitlist availability.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Alternative Dinner: Columbia Harbour House — Given the sheer number of worthwhile attractions in the Magic Kingdom and the high wait times, you might want to save time by having dinner at Columbia Harbour House, a counter service restaurant.

Great seafood options, plus the quaint and somewhat secluded (or perhaps underutilized is the better term) upstairs seating area makes this an easy pick. We love grabbing a table by the window, recharging, and watching the hustle and bustle of Magic Kingdom outside.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Nighttime Spectacular: Happily Ever After – The beloved Happily Ever After fireworks have returned! This nighttime spectacular features new projections on Main Street and is also drawing colossal crowds. That’s unlikely to change anytime soon, as Walt Disney World fans love  Happily Ever After and are coming out in full force to see it.

Our  Viewing Guide to the Happily Ever After Fireworks at Magic Kingdom   covers the best & worst spots to see the nighttime spectacular. Perhaps most importantly, it shares a few great low-crowds locations for those who don’t want to be in the crush of crowds. (Seriously, don’t underestimate the chaos and congestion, which can be downright uncomfortable, especially for those with strollers or ECVs. Personally, I would  not  watch Happily Ever After from Main Street if I were an ECV user; I would not feel safe.)

disney world tour magic kingdom

Evening Attractions: Better at Night – At this point, you should have about an hour until park closing on a normal night. Dumbo, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are some attractions that we most strongly recommend doing at night for a superior experience.

Obviously, you won’t have time to do them all–and if Magic Kingdom closes earlier, you might not have time for any of them. As for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, we’ll cover that below. If you have time for additional attractions, check out our 10 Best Magic Kingdom Attractions at Night  for others to add to this plan.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Mine Train Half Court Shot – One minute before Magic Kingdom closes, consider jumping in line for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. This is like sinking a game-winning, half court shot.

Or, so I assume…I’ve never done the latter. You basically avoid the long lines all day by getting in line as late as you possible can, and you will literally feel yourself saving time in line.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Peaceful Park Closing – After you’re done with either of the above options, the Magic Kingdom will be closed. Be aware that the shops on Main Street are typically open an hour after park closing, so then is the time to do your souvenir shopping.

Beyond shopping, this is a great time for appreciating the details of Magic Kingdom as it empties. Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse followed by a walk on the boardwalk along the Rivers of America leading away from Big Thunder towards Haunted Mansion is a solid, surprise pick here.

disney world tour magic kingdom

If you’re able to do even 75% of the things on this Magic Kingdom touring plan, you are pretty much assured of having an excellent day in the Magic Kingdom. That’s our guarantee! ( Please note that this guarantee has no cash value and is not offered to residents of any state except Wyoming. Also note that any day you are at Magic Kingdom should be amazing, so if you don’t have a great time, it’s probably your own fault! ;))

While this itinerary covers most of the park in a single day, in a truly ideal world, we recommend reading our 2-Day Magic Kingdom Ideal Day Plan . That’s how much time you should be spending in Magic Kingdom if your trip lasts a week or longer. Magic Kingdom is the only park at Walt Disney World that we believe requires two days to do everything without feeling rushed–you can do the other parks in one day each.

Hey y’all! Planning a big trip for the family in September. I’ve read the Animal Kingdom one day itinerary and now the MK one day itinerary. We’re trying to squeeze in the Not So Scary Halloween Party and would love to game plan around that. Any advice would be appreciated! You are welcome to reach out directly.

' src=

If you have to go to AK or MK the same day as the party, you would have time to do the highlights of AK, return to your hotel to rest and then go to the party. Is that what you are asking? You may receive more responses on a Disney related Facebook page. There’s a lot more to see and do at MK.

Hi Tom My daughter and I just came back from Walt Disney World and we did the 4 parks in 4 days (in order: EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom) following your itineraries and it worked like clockwork. We were able to do everything on your 1-Day list and more! You gave us the best mother-daughter memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. Thanks so much!!

Hi Tom, we plan to go to MK on May 26, 2024. Is this Itinerary Doable for these rides/attractions: 1. Tron 2. Space Mountain 3. Haunted Mansion 4. Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Big Thunder Railroad 6. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train 7. Its a Small World 8. Motor Speedway 9. Under the Sea 10. Winnie the Pooh 11, Nighttime Fireworks.

Our family of 5 is willing to pay for ILL and Genie + Thank you in advance!

' src=

Tom I love your itineraries. Have you considered writing up a day that includes characters such as the best times to get in line at Princess Fairytale Hall, Ariel or the Disney Pals at Pete’s Silly Sideshow? (Or best use of the character encounters if one is using Genie+). I try to follow your itineraries but when working in the character meet & greets, it tends to go much differently, especially in MK!

' src=

Hi Tom, We are visiting Magic Kingdom on a Saturday in May, and the park is open until 11pm. Do you think there will be a 6:00pm virtual queue for TRON that day? If so, could I wait until then to join the queue and, in your option, still get in? Thanks!

' src=

Hi, I will be taking the Fam to DW in early Jan 2023. I will be using the DAS for our visit. Does this work like the Genie+ pass or should I expect something different?

' src=

Awesome article helped us to make the most of our 1 day at Magic Kingdom. Thank you x

' src=

Are there any plans for if you have a 4 day park pass and want to do MNSSHP. How does this tie into 2 park days. My husband has never been to MK so I thought about just doing the party but not sure how to handle this.

' src=

This looks good heading to Dw soon

' src=

Tom, Will you be updating the Extended Evening Hours at MK article now that summer hours have been updated? The park now closes at 11pm with extra hours until 1am. We are planning on utilizing that benefit this summer and looking for tips. We currently are planning a few hours in the morning, pool break, dinner at Steakhouse 71 then evening touring. Thanks!

' src=

what would you recommend for a first visit with a 5-6 year old? not a fan of speed…

' src=

I already read this article, and i didnt see you mentioned the genie+ plan. How about if we use the disney genie+ and get the lightning lanes for free???

Can you reply me some advice about using the genie+ and the lightnings lanes for Magic Kingdom.

' src=

Would love to see this plan incorporate Genie+ and LL, as well!

' src=

This plan is a bit different than the one I had come up with for our first trip (and potentially only trip, due to distance) end of November… Genie+ Peter Pan first, early entry rope drop 7 dwarves, then knock out short-wait fantasyland rides while waiting to redeem Peter Pan, and even 9:00 rope drop Haunted Mansion. Genie+ Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain next, and wait to Genie+ Jingle cruise until an evening redemption because won’t the Christmas lights be better then?

We are headed to DW at the end of Nov. and might use your reccommendations. Now that time has passed. What worked for you with Genie+, LL for MK? Thx!

' src=

We are here following the guide. Liberty square side won’t rope drop until 9. We didn’t figure this out until 840 and had to track back and enter on right side of castle for resort guests entry. Starting on Peter Pan ride but still in line at 8:50. Hopefully the rest of this plan “Pans” out better..:

The best $120 I've spent at Disney this year got me into Magic Kingdom's secret tunnels

Tarah Chieffi

What would you say if I told you I paid $120 (on top of my park ticket) to walk around Disney World for five hours and only got on two rides? You'd probably think I'd have been better off spending that money on 15 Dole Whips or creating a realistic lightsaber at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge .

But what if I also told you that during those five hours I had some of the most fun I've had at Disney all year, learned enough park history to fill a book, got to see how the magic is made, and visited backstage areas where guests are not typically allowed -- including the secret underground tunnels where Disney cast members, characters, supplies — and, yes, even garbage — move around under the park unseen.

And those two rides I rode? I was ushered straight to the front of the line.

I was able to do all of this (and more) on Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour . Although I am now the keeper of many Disney secrets, I am not going to divulge all of them to you here. What fun would that be? I am, however, going to share a bit about my experience so that you can decide if it's something you'd like to add to the itinerary for your next Disney World vacation .

For more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter .

Keys to the Kingdom: Tour essentials

If you have ever seen a cast member clad in a dapper plaid outfit leading a small group of guests around the Magic Kingdom, you may have spotted a Keys to the Kingdom Tour. (These are not to be confused with the private VIP tours that cost thousands of dollars .)

Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour is held each morning at the Magic Kingdom, with four staggered start times between 8 a.m. and 9:30 am. The tour is priced at $114 per person plus tax ($121.41 total) and each tour holds about 20 guests.

Because of the small group size, advance reservations are strongly recommended, but they will take walkups based on availability. You can book the tour directly on Disney's website .

The tour is fully accessible if you have a scooter or wheelchair, and ASL interpreters are available. Tours are only given in English, but non-English speaking groups will sometimes bring their own interpreter to work alongside the tour guide.

Keep in mind that theme park admission and a Magic Kingdom Park Pass reservation are also required.

It's also worth noting that guests must be 16 years or older (with valid identification) to participate. Although I found the tour to be fascinating, my 3-, 5- and 9-year-old sons may have had something else to say about standing in the heat for five hours talking about forced perspective and how deep the water is on the Jungle Cruise, so these age guidelines are probably for the best.

Making magic: Highlights and revelations

My tour started at Town Square Theater, which is just inside the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

There is a small check-in desk outside of Tony's Town Square Restaurant where a cast member gave me a name tag and headset to use during the tour and also took my lunch order, so that it could be ready and waiting for me when we took a break for lunch.

Related: What it's really like doing Disney World 3 different ways: Budget, moderate and blow-out luxury

Once everyone had checked in, our tour guide Lynn went over the basics of what would be involved — lots of walking and standing, plenty of water and bathroom breaks and no photos or videos (I took my own photos after the tour). She also helped us set up our headsets.

Then she teased us with a bit of magic that would be revealed at the end of the tour by telling us that her "onstage" answer for how Tinkerbell flies during the nightly fireworks show was pixie dust, but she would give us the "backstage" answer at the end of the tour.

disney world tour magic kingdom

We did a lot of "walking and talking," but we also stopped at certain points so our tour guide could delve deeper into certain topics. Our first stop was Main Street, U.S.A. where we learned about the construction of the Magic Kingdom, right down to the color of the bricks. I had never paid much attention to them, but the bricks leading into the park are red. This was Disney's way of "rolling out the red carpet" for every guest who enters the park.

As we walked down Main Street, U.S.A., our tour guide pointed out the names painted on the windows above the shops. I already knew from being a self-admitted Disney nerd that the windows paid homage to people who helped make the park what it is today, but there were some I had never even noticed.

Walt Disney's name is painted above the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. This is not only because he is the "director" of the show and the director's name historically came last in the film's credits, but also because he loved vanilla ice cream.

disney world tour magic kingdom

We made our way through Adventureland to the Jungle Cruise, where our guide shared interesting tidbits about the ride, like how Walt wanted to use real animals but was (luckily) advised against it.

Not surprisingly, we all enthusiastically answered "yes," when our guide asked if we wanted to go for a ride. Then, rather than the typical Jungle Cruise spiel (which cracks me up every time), our guide took the microphone and used our time on the ride to discuss how the mechanics of the boats and animals work, along with some Easter eggs to look out for.

disney world tour magic kingdom

The ride revelations continued as we walked past Pirates of the Caribbean and Splash Mountain — and then things became really interesting.

Our guide took us through a door marked "Cast Members Only" and we were suddenly in a backstage area behind Splash Mountain. I felt like we were sneaking around behind the Wizard of Oz's curtain, which would have been more than enough for me. Then our guide said she had a surprise for us.

disney world tour magic kingdom

We walked right past the huge warehouse that stages the Festival of Fantasy parade floats just in time to see them preparing the floats for the noon parade. Based on what I learned there and what I know of my own driving skills, I would never have what it takes to pilot one of those parade floats.

disney world tour magic kingdom

By then, it was time for lunch, which was at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Frontierland. We had about 30 minutes to eat, but our food was waiting for us when we arrived. Inside each name placard marking our seats was yet another surprise — a golden keepsake pin to commemorate our tour.

disney world tour magic kingdom

After lunch, we moved into Liberty Square, which, I learned, has one of the last Liberty Bell replicas made from the same mold as the original in Philadelphia (Disney added the distinctive crack on its own).

The Haunted Mansion sat just behind us as we discussed other elements of Liberty Square, so our guide took that opportunity to share details on its design and the special effects used to create the happy haunts who reside there. She then ushered us straight onto the ride, which I looked at in a whole new light after learning more about how it all worked.

disney world tour magic kingdom

I think the tour guides know that seeing the secret tunnel system — dubbed the "Utilidor" by Disney — is one of the big reasons people take this tour. The Utilidor is something of an urban myth for Disney nerds and a part of the parks that most guests never see or even realize exists.

Referring to the Utilidor as a tunnel is a bit of a misnomer. The part of the Magic Kingdom most guests see is actually on the second floor of the park. The first floor is the Utilidor.

We saw the tubes where 83,000 pounds of trash per day are whisked away from the park, walked past costumed cast members on their way to meet-and-greets with guests and saw walls lined with photos and memorabilia that tied back to everything we had learned about the history and creation of the park during our tour. Since no photos were allowed, you'll have to take the tour for yourself if you want to get a peek.

The last stop on our tour was where our guide revealed the Tinkerbell scoop she had promised us at the beginning of the tour.

If you are old enough to read this, you probably already know that Tinkerbell doesn't use just pixie dust to fly. Our guide revealed exactly where she lands at the end of her 30-second flight from the top of the 189-foot-tall Cinderella Castle. A young child walked past as she was explaining it to us and the guide stopped so as not to "ruin the magic."

Was it worth it?

You might think that seeing how the magic is made would ruin some of the mystique of Disney World, but it actually made me appreciate it more than ever -- which was already quite a lot based on the amount of time and money I spend there. I learned so much about the care and attention to detail that went into building the Magic Kingdom and that still goes into operating the park today.

So much of Disney is in the details. Spending five hours walking through the park and focusing exclusively on those details only made the magic stronger.

One of my favorite things about Disney World is that there is always something new to discover — be it a name on a window, a "hidden Mickey" or learning something new about the "man behind the mouse," Walt Disney.

Whether you're a Disney history buff or just really into getting a peek behind the curtain at Disney World, this tour is bound to show you things you've never noticed before. You have to be OK with spending the morning and early afternoon doing more touring than riding, but after the tour is over, you'll step onto those beloved attractions with a newfound admiration for what goes into keeping the magic alive all these years later.

For those groups who are into all things Disney, yes, this tour was definitely worth the time — and money. And of course, there's the added benefit of being able to tell all your friends that you've been inside Disney World's "secret" Utilidors.

Main Street, U.S.A.

1. walt disney world railroad.

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Scenic Train
  • Height Requirement : Any
  • Duration : Varies
  • Suitable For : All ages. Ideal for families looking for a restful break.

Begin your magical adventure with a nostalgic journey aboard an authentic steam-powered train. The Walt Disney World Railroad offers a full-circle tour of Magic Kingdom, providing unique views of the park’s lands and a chance to rest your feet while still soaking up the enchanting atmosphere. My kids love waving at the guests as we chug along, and they always insist on riding in the very last car for the best views. It’s a great way to get off your feet but still feel like you’re doing something — or maybe even sneak in naptime for the little ones. The ride is flexible, offering the option to take a full-circle tour or to hop on and off at Main Street U.S.A., Frontierland, or Fantasyland’s Storybook Circus.

2. Main Street Vehicles

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Trolley Car
  • Duration : 5 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Nostalgia lovers and those preferring a slow-paced start.

Cruise down the charming thoroughfare of Main Street, U.S.A., in one of several vintage vehicles, including a fire engine, horse-drawn carriage, or omnibus. These early 20th-century modes of transportation add to the land’s nostalgic ambiance and provide a delightful way to soak up the sights and sounds of this bustling area. Wave to the friendly cast members and other guests as you make your way toward Cinderella Castle, the icon of Magic Kingdom.

Adventureland

3. jungle cruise.

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Boat Ride
  • Duration : 10 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Fans of humor. Might be less engaging for very young kids.

Embark on a pun-filled expedition through exotic rivers across Asia, Africa, and South America, guided by your trusty skipper. As you navigate the lush landscapes, you’ll encounter a variety of Audio-Animatronic animals, from mischievous monkeys to majestic elephants, and even a few fearsome natives. Your skipper’s witty commentary and groan-worthy jokes add to the lighthearted atmosphere, making this a fun experience for the whole family. Visiting in December ? You might be treated to a Jingle Cruise, complete with holiday -themed decor and jokes.

4. The Magic Carpets Of Aladdin

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Spinning; Aerial Carousel
  • Duration : 1 minute 30 seconds
  • Suitable For : All ages. Young dreamers. Watchful for those with height fears.

Soar high above Adventureland on a magic carpet, controlling your flight’s height and pitch. This Dumbo-style ride offers a unique view of the land and provides a gentle thrill for all ages. My daughter loves pretending to be Princess Jasmine as we fly together.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Dark Ride; Boat Ride
  • Duration : 8 minutes
  • Suitable For: All ages. Adventure seekers. Cautionary for children scared by dark settings.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me! Embark on a swashbuckling voyage through the Golden Age of Piracy on this classic Disney dark ride. As you float through the winding waterways, you’ll encounter Audio-Animatronic figures of Captain Jack Sparrow and a colorful cast of scallywags, witness daring duels, and even descend a thrilling waterfall. My son always looks forward to the cannon battle scene, where he pretends to fire back at the pirate ship. Despite its age, I still consider it one of the best rides in Magic Kingdom .

6. Swiss Family Treehouse

  • Ride Type : Walk-Through Attraction
  • Duration : Self-paced
  • Suitable For : All ages. Explorers and climbers. Less suited for those with mobility issues.

Explore the immersive world of the Swiss Family Robinson as you climb through their iconic treehouse. Discover the ingenious inventions and breathtaking views that make this walk-through attraction a classic. My kids enjoy pointing out the clever contraptions and imagining life in the treehouse. One important note for Guests with disabilities: this is the least-accessible attraction in all of Disney World. Guests must be able to walk, as the treehouse has more than 100 stairs and no elevator.

7. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

  • Ride Type : Audio-Animatronic Show
  • Duration : 15 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Fans of classic Disney charm. May not capture the youngest guests’ attention for long.

Prepare to be serenaded by a tropical chorus of Audio-Animatronic birds, flowers, and Tiki statues in this classic Disney attraction. As you take a seat in this enchanted Polynesian paradise, the room comes alive with the sounds of the islands, led by the crooning of José, Michael, Pierre, and Fritz – four lovable macaws with distinct personalities. My daughter always giggles at the Tiki gods’ silly expressions and the way they make it “rain” inside the theater.

  • Duration : 12 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Fans of country music and kitsch. May not appeal to those preferring high-tech entertainment.

Clap along with a hilarious cast of singing bears in this classic Audio-Animatronic show. With a mix of country charm and silly humor, the original Country Bear Jamboree was a nostalgic favorite for many Magic Kingdom visitors. 2024’s re-imagining of this classic attraction focuses on infusing Disney songs as opposed to the traditional country, western, and folk fare. But purists will be happy to hear that, while the bears may be singing a new tune, the Disney-themed songs still will be performed in a bluegrass, rockabilly, Americana, or similar style.

10. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

  • Ride Type : Dark Ride, Boat Ride, Log Flume
  • Height Requirement : 40 inches (102cm)
  • Duration : 11 minutes

Get ready for a magical journey through the bayous of New Orleans with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! This enchanting attraction replaces Splash Mountain and brings the beloved story of “The Princess and the Frog” to life. Join Tiana, Naveen, and their friends on a musical adventure as you float through the lush, colorful world of New Orleans and the Louisiana bayou. With stunning Audio-Animatronics, immersive storytelling, and a catchy soundtrack, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a must-do for guests of all ages (who meet Disney’s height requirements ). You will likely get wet on this ride and might get soaked during the big drop at the end.

11. Tom Sawyer Island (Limited Time Remaining)

  • Ride Type : Exploration Area
  • Suitable For: All ages. Imaginative adventurers. Less interesting for those seeking passive entertainment.

Step into the world of Mark Twain’s classic stories and let your imagination run wild on Tom Sawyer Island. This rustic play area invites you to explore winding trails, mysterious caves, and rickety bridges, all while immersing yourself in the nostalgic charm of the American frontier. My kids love playing hide-and-seek in the cave and pretending to be explorers discovering hidden treasures.

This attraction is expected to permanently close, possibly around early 2025, as Disney prepares to build two new attractions themed to Disney-PIXAR’s  Cars films.

Liberty Square

12. hall of presidents.

  • Duration : 25 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. History buffs. May bore young children or those with short attention spans.

Journey through the history of the American presidency in this stirring Audio-Animatronic stage show. Every U.S. president is brought to life with remarkable realism, sharing the stage in a celebration of the nation’s democratic legacy. The show combines film footage, narration, and patriotic music to create an educational and inspiring experience. As a history buff, I always find myself marveling at the incredible attention to detail in each president’s likeness.

13. Haunted Mansion

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Dark Ride
  • Duration : 7 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Lovers of mild thrills and spooky themes. Potentially unsettling for very young kids.

Step into the foyer of this eerie manor and prepare to be delightfully spooked by 999 happy haunts! The Haunted Mansion is a classic Disney dark ride that combines clever special effects, otherworldly music, and ghostly gags to create a chillingly fun experience. As you board your “Doom Buggy,” you’ll glide through a series of supernatural scenes, from the interactive queue featuring a musical crypt to the grand ballroom where translucent spirits waltz.

14. Liberty Square Riverboat (Limited Time Remaining)

  • Duration : 17 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Guests seeking tranquility. Might be too slow-paced for thrill-seekers.

Step aboard the Liberty Belle, an authentic steam-powered paddlewheel riverboat, for a scenic journey around the Rivers of America. As you cruise along the waterway, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Liberty Square, Frontierland, and Tom Sawyer Island. The Liberty Square Riverboat offers a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of the park, allowing you to soak in the nostalgic atmosphere and appreciate the incredible attention to detail in the surrounding landscapes. Keep an eye out for unique vantage points of attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Haunted Mansion.

  • Ride Type : Small Drops; Roller Coaster
  • Height Requirement : 35 inches (89 cm)
  • Duration : 1 minute
  • Suitable For : Preschoolers and kids. Young first-time coaster riders. Too tame for thrill-seeking adults.

Join Goofy on a daring flight aboard his homemade stunt plane on this junior roller coaster. Perfect for younger thrill-seekers, the Barnstormer offers gentle drops and turns that will have your little ones grinning from ear to ear. It was my son’s first “big kid” coaster, and he couldn’t stop talking about it all day! The ride is  extremely short (about one minute) so it’s a good use of Lightning Lane. After all, who wants to wait 30-60 minutes for a one-minute ride?

16. Dumbo The Flying Elephant

  • Ride Type : Slow Rides; Spinning; Aerial Carousel
  • Suitable For : All ages. Young families. Simplistic for those seeking advanced thrills.

Take flight on this classic Fantasyland attraction, soaring high above the park in your very own flying elephant. Control your elephant’s height as you enjoy a gentle spin, making this ride perfect for even the youngest Disney fans. It’s a timeless experience that always brings a smile to my face. And my kids love playing at the indoor, air-conditioned playground while they wait to ride.

17. Enchanted Tales With Belle

  • Ride Type : Interactive Character Experience
  • Duration : 20 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. “Beauty and the Beast” fans. Less engaging for those not interested in participatory experiences.

Step into the enchanted world of Beauty and the Beast and join Belle for an interactive storytelling experience. Guests of all ages will delight in this unique attraction that brings the beloved fairy tale to life. The magical mirror comes alive, and you’re transported to Beast’s library, where Lumiere and Belle await. Guests are invited to participate in the retelling of the “tale as old as time,” with some lucky participants even getting to play a role in the story. My daughter’s face lit up when she was chosen to be a part of the show! And as a parent, I love the fact that  everyone who wants to participate gets a part to play.

18. “it’s a small world”

  • Suitable For : All ages. Fans of classic Disney and global unity themes. Repetitive for those preferring varied entertainment.

Celebrate the unity and diversity of our world on this charming boat ride through a series of colorful, international scenes. “it’s a small world” features more than 300 Audio-Animatronic dolls dressed in traditional costumes, each singing the attraction’s unforgettable theme song in their native language. My daughter always points out her favorite dolls, like the can-can dancers in the France scene and the drumming monkeys in the jungle.

19. Mad Tea Party

  • Ride Type : Spinning Teacup Ride
  • Suitable For : All ages. Those who enjoy spinning rides. Not for those prone to motion sickness.

Spin yourself silly in an oversized teacup at the Mad Tea Party! This classic attraction lets you control the speed of your spin, making it a fun and dizzying experience for the whole family. Just be warned: it’s easy to get carried away with the twirling!

20. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

  • Duration : 4 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Young kids and nostalgic adults. Might lack excitement for thrill-seekers.

Step into the pages of A.A. Milne’s classic stories and join Winnie the Pooh and his friends on a journey through the Hundred Acre Wood. This gentle dark ride features oversized storybooks, honey-scented air, and charming Audio-Animatronic figures that bring the beloved characters to life. As you board a giant honey pot, you’ll bounce along with Tigger, brave the windy day with Piglet, and even experience a dream sequence with Pooh himself.

21. Mickey’s PhilharMagic

  • Ride Type : 4D Show
  • Suitable For : All ages. Disney music lovers. Visual effects might overwhelm the sensitive.

Put on your 3D glasses and join Mickey, Donald, and a host of beloved Disney characters in this magical 4D musical adventure. With stunning special effects and a delightful soundtrack, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a must-see for any Disney fan.

22. Peter Pan’s Flight

  • Ride Type : Slow Rides; Small Drops; Dark Ride
  • Suitable For : All ages. Fans of the classic tale. Wait times may deter the impatient.

Embark on a magical journey to Never Land aboard a flying pirate ship, following the story of Peter Pan. This beloved dark ride allows you to soar high above the twinkling lights of London, past Big Ben and the Tower Bridge, before diving into the enchanted world of Never Land. Along the way, you’ll encounter Wendy, John, and Michael Darling, as well as the mischievous Tinker Bell and the villainous Captain Hook. It’s been one of my favorite rides since childhood!

23. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

  • Ride Type : Slow Ride; Spinning; Classic Carousel
  • Duration : 2 minutes
  • Suitable For : All ages. Young riders and romantic hearts. Might be too basic for thrill-seekers.

Tips and Tricks for Enjoying Magic Kingdom Rides

  • Arrive early : Arriving at the park gates before official opening gives you a head start on popular rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, take advantage of the Early Theme Park Entry perk.
  • Prioritize your must-do rides : Make a list of your top attractions and head to those first thing in the morning. Disney World crowds tend to build as the day goes on, so tackling your priorities early can save you time and frustration.
  • Use Lightning Lanes : These digital tools allow you to skip the standby lines for select attractions, helping you maximize your time in the park. Consider purchasing the Lightning Lane add-on for your tickets and making your ride reservations before you enter the park.
  • Take a midday break : When crowds and temperatures peak, consider heading back to your hotel for a swim, nap, or lunch. You’ll return refreshed and ready to tackle the evening hours, which often bring cooler weather and shorter lines .
  • Be flexible and have fun : While planning is essential, don’t let a rigid schedule keep you from enjoying spontaneous moments of magic. Sometimes the best memories come from unexpected detours and impromptu character encounters.

How to get to Magic Kingdom

Out of all the parks at Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom is one of the easiest to get to … as long as you aren’t arriving by car (including Uber or Lyft).

Depending on where you are staying, you can easily get to Magic Kingdom by:

  • Learn more about how transportation works at Magic Kingdom

If you do plan to drive, make sure you understand how parking works, since it is different from all the other parks.

Driving and Parking at Magic Kingdom

Parking at Magic Kingdom is a little bit different from parking at the other 3 main parks.

When driving to Magic Kingdom, guests park about a mile away at the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, guests have the option of taking either the ferry or monorail over to the front gates of Magic Kingdom. Because of this extra step, you should plan to budget at least 30 extra minutes for your travel time if you plan to drive.

Like the other 3 parks, the parking lots at the Transportation and Ticket Center are staffed with an abundance of Cast Members that will help direct you to your spot. If you park too far away from the front gate to walk, there will be handy trams to shuttle you back and forth from the end of your row to near the front gates.

How much does parking at Magic Kingdom cost?

  • Free for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests
  • Offsite guests $30/day
  • Passholders – Free with Passholder card and photo ID
  • Preferred Parking – $45-55/day
  • Want more tips on driving? Check out our post on using a car at Disney World.

FAQs about Magic Kingdom

What should i bring with me to magic kingdom.

Since Disney allows you to keep your bag with you on nearly every attraction, many people find it handy to carry a bag or backpack with them into the parks.

What you pack in your backpack will vary on your age and who you are traveling with but to help you decide what you might want to bring we have an entire post dedicated to Disney World park bags .

Here are some other common questions on what to bring with you:

Can I bring food with me to Magic Kingdom?

Yes! You can bring your own food items with you. The only restrictions are no glass containers (baby food is an exception) and no alcohol. Also, for the safety of the animals, no straws are allowed at Animal Kingdom.

Can I bring a cooler?

Yes, small coolers are allowed; however, the total size can’t exceed 24″ by 15″ by 18″. We recommend bringing a cooler small enough to fit into a locker or in the bottom of a stroller ( n ote: as of 5/1/19, loose ice and dry ice are not allowed in the parks, so you will need to use an ice pack or something similar if you plan to bring cooled items) .

Are wagons allowed?

Items that can be pulled behind you are not allowed at Disney World, and that includes wagons.

Can I bring my selfie stick?

Sorry, but no. Selfie sticks are banned at all Disney World parks, including Magic Kingdom.

Can I bring my tripod, so I can take pictures?

Tripods (and monopods) that are small enough to fit in a backpack are allowed.

I heard the lines are long. Can I bring a folding chair with me to sit in while I wait?

Folding chairs are not allowed, and we’d never want you standing in a line long enough that you’d need one! Make sure you read the touring plan information below so that you avoid standing in long lines.

Did we leave anything out? Let us know your questions in the comments below.

Friday 2nd of September 2022

I waited my 60 days to try to book the special dinning for the 50th Celerbration. I tried early mornings, later in the evening, all day sitting at my desk at work and never was able to book one. Very sad that I couldn't get one. Something just didn't seem right. Not even Space 220.

Virtual Visit to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

virtual visit to the magic kingdom

In need of a little Disney magic? If you can’t get to the Most Magical Place on Earth, you can visit Walt Disney World virtually through YouTube ride and attraction videos.

disney world tour magic kingdom

We’ve rounded up a great video for each and every ride, attraction, and show that you can currently find at the Magic Kingdom. It’s the next best thing to being there!

Virtual Walt Disney World Series

Our virtual Walt Disney World series is just a fun way to explore and enjoy the parks when you can’t be there. Because the majority of these videos are from the guest’s point of view (POV), they can be even more fun viewed through VR headsets for your phone , or by projecting it on a wall or viewing on a big screen tv.

You can even get creative and make ride vehicles to sit in and add your own special effects. Have fun with it!!

And because it’s all virtual, you can hop from park to park as much as you want. Here are the links to the other parks:

  • Virtual Epcot
  • Virtual Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Virtual Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Virtual Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is such a fun place to visit. The first of the four Disney theme parks to be built in Florida, it also has the most to see and do. It’s almost impossible to see it all in one day.

Express Monorail to the Magic Kingdom

“Por favor mantengense alejado de las puertas!” Please stand clear of the doors and enjoy your express monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom. Stay on, and you’ll continue your journey all the way around the Seven Seas Lagoon and back to where you started.

Take the Ferry Across Seven Seas Lagoon

On a beautiful day, the more relaxing way to get to the Magic Kingdom is the Ferry Boat. You can choose to sit inside in the shade or stand outside on deck to feel the breeze as you cross the waters to the shores of the Magic Kingdom.

Let the Magic Begin

The “welcome show” for the Magic Kingdom used to be held outside the entrance. But a few years ago they relocated it to the castle stage. So once you arrive, you can enter the park and look around on Main Street, U.S.A. as you make your way to the Cinderella Castle stage to see the show.

Once the show is over, the other lands of the park will open and everyone can make their way (in an orderly fashion) to their first attraction!

Full Walk Around the Magic Kingdom

This is a well-shot, smooth walk around the entire Magic Kingdom. You can sit back and enjoy it all at once, or stop wherever you like and scroll ahead the next time to pick up where you left off.

Walt Disney World Railroad Full Loop

All aboard! The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a while due to construction on the new Tron attraction. But thanks to this ride video, you can ride it any time you want! This version starts and ends at the Main Street train station.

Main Street USA

The “heart of America”, Main Street U.S.A. is such a great place to take your time and enjoy all the little details. As a Cast Member on my Keys to the Kingdom tour put it, Main Street, U.S.A. is like the opening credits to the show you are about to see in the rest of the park.

Take a Ride on Main Street Vehicles

The main street vehicles do not run all day long. So if you see one, be sure to catch a ride as it is a unique experience!

Meet the Citizens of Main Street, U.S.A.

Be sure to say hello to the citizens of Main Street, U.S.A. when you see them!

The Dapper Dans Barbershop Quartet

The Dapper Dans are a Magic Kingdom delight! They’ve been known to drop in and serenade guests getting haircuts at the Harmony Barbershop. But they also love to entertain the crowds right along Main Street, U.S.A.!

The Main Street Trolley Show

There’s nothing like a little singin’ and dancin’ to get you going in the morning. And the Main Street Trolley Show might just be pulling up to supply that for you as you walk up Main Street, U.S.A.! So be sure to stop and enjoy it!

The Casey’s Corner Pianist

Casey’s Corner is my favorite lunch spot in the Magic Kingdom. Aside from the baseball theming and great hot dogs, you can grab a seat with a great view of Cinderella Castle and listen to the soundtrack or, if you’re lucky, enjoy a live piano performance!

Cinderella Castle Hub

The castle hub is the center of the park. From here you can choose to go to any of the other themed lands. But it’s also a great place to hang out and enjoy the scenery. And it’s an especially good spot to watch the Festival of Fantasy parade.

Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire

Festival of fantasy parade.

The Festival of Fantasy Parade is a gorgeous, colorful parade with lots of huge floats and many of your favorite characters. The highlight is the fire-breathing dragon version of Maleficent. And while you can see the parade in Frontierland, Liberty Square, or on Main Street, U.S.A., nothing beats this view with Cinderella Castle in the background.

The Main Street Philharmonic

What do you get when you take a marching band and give them a Disney playlist? you get the Main Street Philharmonic!! Enjoy!

Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party

It’s like a parade that you get to be a part of! Join Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Clarabelle as they make their way to Cinderella Castle for a dance party!

Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland was my favorite land as a kid. Something about the future really gets the imagination going thinking about all that is possible. Thrill seekers can enjoy Astro Orbiter and Space Mountain. And the whole family will enjoy Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Astro Orbiter

The Astro Orbiter offers some of the best views of any attraction in the Magic Kingdom. But the ride moves fast and is over before you know it, so make sure to keep your eyes open!

We found two options for you. The first is a standard view. The second is a 360-degree view where you can control which way you are looking.

Here’s the other Astro Orbiter video with a 360-degree view:

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Do you have what it takes to stop the evil Emporer Zurg from completing his galactic conquest? Join Buzz Lightyear and his space rangers in the ultimate battle!

Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor

Enjoy this hilarious comedy show where the guests are sometimes part of the action.

Space Mountain

Zoom through the darkness of space aboard your rocket ship. While it’s extremely dark inside Space Mountain, this video turned out pretty good.

Tomorrowland Speedway

As a kid, I loved getting to drive my own race car around the Tomorrowland Speedway. This video puts you back in the driver’s seat, and if you want to keep watching it, it will do another lap in different lane.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

“Paging Mr. Morrow… Mr. Tom Morrow.” Take a relaxing ride around Tomorrowland on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is one of those classic Disney attractions that people of all ages can enjoy.

Fantasyland

If you have little kids, you might find yourself heading straight for Fantasyland and spending a lot of time here. So many favorites and great new attractions since the expansion. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the most sought-after FastPass+ in the park, but you can ride it over and over here with no wait!

The Barnstormer

The perfect first roller coaster for little kids, the Barnstormer is a fun ride.

Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station

While not a ride, the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station is a great place to cool off on a hot Florida day at the Magic Kingdom. And since we’re walking through this virtually, we don’t have to worry about our clothes getting wet!

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Take a ride in your very own flying elephant! Since relocating Dumbo the Flying Elephant to its new home in the Storybook Circus area, the wait times have been drastically reduced. And here, you don’t have to wait at all!

Enchanted Tales With Belle

Be part of the “tale as old as time” when you visit Belle in Fantasyland. Enter her house and be magically transported to the Beast’s castle!

it’s a small world

Take a ride on the happiest cruise that ever sailed on “it’s a small world”.

Mad Tea Party

The family always makes me promise that we won’t spin the teacup too fast. But that goes right out the window as soon as we get going on the Mad Tea Party!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

A family favorite, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is a great ride for everyone. I love how the vehicle’s motion changes from scene to scene.

Mickey’s Philharmagic

Follow Donald on a magical journey as he borrows Mickey’s sorcerer hat and finds himself part of several classic Disney animation scenes. Mickey’s Philharmagic is a 3D film, which is why it’s a little blurry in this video.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Get pixie-dusted and fly above London and go off to Neverland with Peter, Wendy, Michael and John to battle the sinister Captain Hook. You can scroll back to see some of the queue elements.

Prince Charming Regal Carousel

Carousels are so much fun. And the Prince Charming Regal Carousel is no exception, with its beautiful horses and Disney music.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Since its debut, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has become the most popular attraction at the Magic Kingdom. And it’s easy to see why, as it combines a family-friendly coaster with some really impressive modern animatronic characters.

Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid

Hop inside a clamshell and go under the sea to see the story of Ariel as you have never seen it before.

Liberty Square

Liberty Square is such a wonderfully detailed land. That more than makes up for it being the smallest. It also features my favorite Walt Disney World attraction of all-time: The Haunted Mansion.

Hall of Presidents

Enjoy this telling of our nation’s history by all 44 U.S. Presidents.

The Haunted Mansion

My absolute favorite Disney attraction. The Haunted Mansion artfully blends humor, story, and special effects to create an experience you can enjoy again and again.

Liberty Square Riverboat

Take a cruise on the Rivers of America aboard an authentic paddle-wheel ship.

Frontierland

As you move from Liberty Square to the end of Frontierland, you are heading further west while also going forward in time through the pioneer days. It’s much like how America expanded in real life. And when you get there, you find not one, but two thrilling mountain attractions!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Take a ride on the wildest ride in the wilderness: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

Country Bear Jamboree

Sit back and enjoy this country-western musical revue of singing bears.

Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade

As a kid, I always loved the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. There are so many great effects that happen when you hit the targets. In this video, you’re more of an onlooker than a shooter, but it’s still fun.

Splash Mountain

Everybody has a laughing place. Sometimes you have to plummet through the briar patch to get there.

Tom Sawyer Island

Tom Sawyer Island doesn’t get a lot of love, probably because it isn’t easy to get to. But you can explore the island on this walk-through.

Adventureland

The spirit of Adventure is something shared by all of us, and in Adventureland, you can be an adventurer and explore the world. The world famous Jungle Cruise will either have you rolling on the floor, or rolling your eyes, as you travel the rivers and jungles of the world.

Jungle Cruise

The world famous Jungle Cruise takes you on a tour of the rivers of the world. But will you survive the jokes?

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is like Dumbo, but on flying carpets. Just watch out for those camels. They spit!

Pirates of the Caribbean

Arrrrrgh! Journey through a town as it is being overrun by pirates on Pirates of the Caribbean! and remember… Dead men tell no tales!

Swiss Family Treehouse

The Swiss Family Robinson was one of my favorite movies growing up. So the Swiss Family Treehouse has a lot of nostalgia for me. I would love to have a treehouse like this one!

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

Another classic Walt Disney attraction, the tiki room is a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy a good show. You can scroll back if you want to see the pre-show.

Nighttime Spectaculars

Every day at the Magic Kingdom is capped off by some great fireworks and light shows. In these videos, you have the best seat in the park for each.

Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After is the Magic Kingdom’s newest fireworks show that also includes projections on to the castle. While the fireworks can be seen from all over the park, the projection portion is best viewed from in front of Cinderella Castle.

Once Upon a Time

Join Mrs. Potts as she entertains Chip with a bedtime story that includes classic Disney tales projected on Cinderella Castle.

Electrical Water Pageant

Recently, we learned that the Electrical Water Pageant was only meant to be a one-time show as a thank you for corporate sponsors when the Magic Kingdom opened. But it is still running today!

We hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Be sure to bookmark this page if you want to visit again.

50 AMAZING Things You Never Knew Were in Magic Kingdom

By Kim LaPaglia Leave a Comment

Private bathrooms, shorter coffee lines, and cursed attractions?? People have been GATEKEEPING the best parts about Magic Kingdom from you! So we’re putting a stop to that RIGHT NOW.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Cinderella Castle in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

I don’t have to tell you that Magic Kingdom is an amazing place filled with amazing things — because you already KNEW that. What I CAN tell you, though, is that Magic Kingdom is an amazing place filled with amazing things you DON’T know about, too.

And that’s what our focus is — the things you DON’T know about, but SHOULD know about, to make your upcoming trip all-the-more… well… AMAZING !

Live Glass Blowing

There’s LOTS to see and do on Main Street, U.S.A — from shopping, to eating, to sobbing over those initial looks at Cinderella Castle.

disney world tour magic kingdom

We wish we were as cool as this guy

But if you step inside the Crystal Arts shop on Main Street, you can see LIVE GLASS BLOWERS showing off their own Disney magic ! (Magic that you can PURCHASE from the gift shop shelves!)

Live glass blowing doesn’t happen all day long, but if you swing by the shop when the demonstrations aren’t happening, just ask one of the Crystal Arts cast members when they’ll start back up so you’ll know when to return later on!

Hidden Partners Statue Details

One of the most iconic (and most photographed) spots in Magic Kingdom is the Partners Statue , featuring Walt Disney holding hands with Mickey Mouse in front of Cinderella Castle . This statue was created by sculptor Blane Gibson, who went on to sculpt every pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean , every ghost in Haunted Mansion , every president up to George W. Bush in the Hall of Presidents … and THEN some.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Gibson had a pretty keen eye for detail, which you can clearly see just based on the details of Walt’s statue. If you look closely, Walt is wearing a tie with “STR” on it. This stands for “Smoke Tree Ranch,” which was one of Walt’s vacation homes out in California . Walt was often seen wearing this tie, which is why Gibson included it.

And on Walt’s hand, you’ll see a claddagh ring on his finger . This was the ring gifted to Walt by his wife, Lillian Disney, after she purchased it during a trip to Ireland!

A Game Of Hide And Seek With Pascal

To play a game with one of our favorite reptilian friends, you’re gonna have to go to the restroom. Wow. Now THERE’S a sentence I never thought I’d say. The Tangled restroom area is actually one of the most picturesque sections of the park — with lots of Imagineering details, movie references, and beautiful landscaping.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Look for Pascal!

BUT along with all that, there’s ALSO a scavenger hunt you can play here too — where you’ll have to f ind the 10 Pascals that are hiding out around the space .

I won’t spoil ALL the hiding spots, but we do have a whole post filled with spoilers if you find yourself stuck while trying to attempt this challenge yourself.

Charging Ports In Tree Stumps

There’s more to the Tangled restrooms than just hide-and-seek-playing chameleons! When you’re near the seating area, check out the fake tree stumps. These tree stumps have charging ports and outlets on their sides — meaning you can relax AND charge up your phone, all in one!

You can also find charging ports and outlets inside the yellow tent next to Pete’s Silly Sideshow, over in Storybook Circus (which will provide you with a little more shade, too)!

Fantasyland  Weather Vanes

Magic Kingdom even knows how to make weather vanes interesting. If you look at the vanes on top of each Fantasyland building , you’ll start to notice that each one is designed to represent the attraction it’s sitting on top of .

disney world tour magic kingdom

Fantasyland station

  • The croc AND pirate ship duo are sitting on top of Peter Pan’s Flight
  • The choo-choo train is on top of the Fantasyland railroad station
  • The slightly-unsettling jester is on Pinocchio Village Haus
  • The high-and-mighty elk stands over the bathrooms near Gaston’s Tavern
  • The giant squid swims on top of Under the Sea: Voyage of the Little Mermaid
  • And the bat/horse are on top of Haunted Mansion (which… is technically in Liberty Square , not Fantasyland. BUT it still wanted to join in on all the weather vane fun)!

The QUIETEST bathrooms

Sorry, Tangled Restrooms. We love you and all — especially for your impressive theming — but you can just get too stinkin’ busy during the day. Fortunately, there are much QUIETER places to stop for a potty break in Magic Kingdom, too — you just have to know where to look!

  • In Tomorrowland, head over to the right of the Space Mountain entrance and find the restrooms behind the Rockettower Plaza Stage. These have quite a few stalls and are usually a lot calmer and cleaner than other Tomorrowland pit stops.
  • In Fantasyland, there’s a great set of quiet (albeit small) restrooms behind Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland. (You know… the one with the elk weather vane on top? Just look for the iron antlers and you’ll be there in no time!)
  • In Adventureland, the Tortuga Tavern restrooms are off the beaten path and hidden inside the quick service. And since Tortuga Tavern isn’t always open, you have a better chance of having a peaceful tinkle break. And in Liberty Square, the restrooms on the first floor of the Columbia Harbour House quick service might stay busy, but the ones on the second floor really don’t. So when things look too crowded downstairs, head UP.

A NEW Secret Pathway

Magic Kingdom may be the smallest of the Disney World parks (no seriously — it really IS), but you’re still gonna wind up walking a WHOLE LOT during your park day. But there are certain shortcuts to help you avoid crowds and/or cut down your steps — including a NEW one that can get you to TRON Lightcycle / Run way faster!

The path I’m talking about begins around the back of The Barnstormer in Storybook Circus. You’ll walk past some well-manicured bushes on your left — and if you keep following that path o’ bushes, you’ll be led right into Tomorrowland, near the entrance to TRON! This little bush-laden path can shave off quite a bit of walking time, especially if you find yourself in the park during a very crowded day. (Which is MOST days in Magic Kingdom.)

A SECRET Way To Get To Magic Kingdom FASTER

If you’re new to visiting Disney World, you might not realize that the Magic Kingdom parking lot is actually more than a mile away from the actual entrance to the Magic Kingdom .

That’s right — when you drive, you’re actually gonna be parking at a location known as the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) . Once you park, you’ll walk or take a tram to the TTC, where you’ll go through security and then have a choice of taking a monorail or ferry boat the rest of the way to Magic Kingdom.

So HOW can you cut down on the time it takes you to get from the TTC and over to the Magic Kingdom main gates? Take the RESORT monorail!

disney world tour magic kingdom

Resort Monorail

There are TWO monorail lines at the TTC.

  • The Express Monorail (the one on the left) is gonna take you straight to the Magic Kingdom.
  • But the Resort Monorail (the one on the right) is gonna take you past the resorts on the monorail route BEFORE taking you to the Magic Kingdom.

Either way, both monorails will take you to the Magic Kingdom. It’s just that the resort one will make a few extra stops along the way.

If there’s a super-long line for the Express Monorail, you might be waiting through 3 or 4 rides before you finally get to board and make it over to the park. In that case, we often prefer to take the Resort Monorail instead . It may not take you right up to the gates like the express monorail will, but if you’re going to have to wait to board the Express anyway, you might actually make it to the park FASTER by using the Resort line.

It’s not foolproof, but it’s worth a shot!

Find our ULTIMATE Guide to Planning your Walt Disney World Vacation HERE!

A much shorter coffee line.

Looking for coffee BEFORE you start your day in Magic Kingdom? While the Main Street Bakery (AKA: your place for Starbucks drinks) might seem like the best way to get the caffeine in your veins ASAP, that little shop is gonna be PACKED OUT when the park first opens.

But a much QUIETER coffee stop can be found over at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).  There’s a little Joffrey’s kiosk at the TTC that many guests overlook when making a beeline to the monorail or ferry boat — meaning you might encounter a much SHORTER wait here when ordering your morning cuppa joe.

REAL Haunts

Haunted Mansion might be known for its 999 Happy Haunts, but there are a couple other more needy, attention-seeking haunts spiriting some of the Magic Kingdom dark rides.

The first is the black bird, perched near the coffin in the conservatory scene in the Haunted Mansion itself. This li’l guy’s name is Lucifer. And, according to Cast Member lore , if you don’t pet Lucifer each morning during ride walkthroughs, BAD things happen in the ride throughout the day — like downtimes, wild crowds, and mean visitors.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Haunted Mansion

Then there’s the haunt you CAN’T see on-ride — over at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction — who can cause just as much mischief as Lucifer can. And that’s Pirate George. When Disney World was working on the construction of Pirates of the Caribbean in the 1970s, a welder named George passed away during the ride’s construction. But, as the story goes, George decided to stick around and “haunt” the attraction ‘til this very day.

Much like Lucifer, George demands his respect on the daily. Cast Members have to say “Good morning!” to the ghost of George every morning when they open the ride for the day, and “Good night” when they close it down . If they ignore this, George will be upset and make weird things happen. Doors might open and close by themselves, phones might ring randomly in the control room, lights could flicker… all spooky, spectral hijinx.

But don’t worry — George is generally regarded as a playful poltergeist, looking to cause harmless mischief and nothing more.

A NEW Life-Like Animatronic

Some of the most ADVANCED animatronics to-date can be seen on the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure log flume ride. Check out the Tiana animatronic !

disney world tour magic kingdom

Tiana on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana is one of the many new animatronics to come to this refreshed ride!

A GROWING Enchanted Mirror

You know what Fantasyland attraction REALLY doesn’t get enough love? Enchanted Tales with Belle ! This experience starts off by taking you inside Maurice’s cabin. When the preshow begins, a mirror transforms into a glowing, GROWING portal, leading you into Beast’s library (by the power of Disney Magic).

disney world tour magic kingdom

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Once you’re in the library, you’ll take your seat and listen to an interactive retelling of how Belle and Beast met and fell in love. Some guests might even get chosen to play along!

After the show wraps up, you’ll have the chance to meet Belle and take a picture with her ! So not only are you getting a character meet and greet opportunity, but you’re also getting a FULL SHOW! Oh, AND you get a FREE bookmark souvenir, too — with Belle’s autograph! Seriously, WHY is this show so underrated again? It’s one of the COOLEST shows out there, bar none!

A Hidden Tinkerbell

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a literal MINE full of hidden details. But ONE of those Big Thunder secrets can’t be discovered until you’re EXITING the ride.

disney world tour magic kingdom

There she is

After you hop off the “wildest ride in the wilderness,” pay close attention to the rocks on your left. Amongst the cracks in the stone, you’ll see one that’s shaped like our favorite fiery pixie, Tink !

A Daily Flag Retreat

Some of the longest-standing traditions in Magic Kingdom are the BEST traditions in Magic Kingdom. Each evening — starting at 5PM in Town Square on Main Street USA — a Flag Retreat takes place. During this time, The Walt Disney World Band circles around the flagpole and plays the Star Spangled Banner as the American Flag is slowly lowered. After being properly folded, the flag is then handed to the selected Veteran of the Day, followed by a brief tribute detailing his or her military service.

The daily Flag Retreat is one of those lesser-known events that gets so easily overlooked during the day .

Not One, But TWO Mysterious Tiny Doors

TWO mysteriously tiny doors??? Well, NOW I’ve seen EVERYTHING. Some of y’all may have heard about the secret tiny door residing in Fantasyland, over by the Bonjour Village Gift Shop in Fantasyland (which is rumored to be there because it’s possibly covering up a design error made during construction. A HAPPY accident, for sure.)

disney world tour magic kingdom

Little door on Bonjour Village Gifts

But if you head down the path leading towards Cinderella Wishing Well — to the right-hand side of Cinderella Castle — you’ll be able to see a SECOND small door, just underneath the well’s location .

Why is THIS little door here? Who knows! But miniaturized items fascinate me, so I’m glad it’s there, even if its origins remain unknown.

Have You Spotted a Smellephant?

There’s something in the air! Do you smell it? Well, if you happen to find yourself at Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom, you’ll be treated to some special scents courtesy of the NEW Smellephants on Parade attraction!

disney world tour magic kingdom

Smellephants on Parade

The attraction comes with a fun little scavenger hunt ! Cast Members handed out these Smellephants on Parade maps, and from there, we matched each sticker to the corresponding elephant.

Customizable Popcorn

In 2021, the Main Street Confectionery got a snazzy upgrade — which included a little spot in the back of the shop where you can customize your very own popcorn mix ! At the Kernel Kitchen you can pick a popcorn flavor (like caramel, rainbow, butter, or cheddar), a syrup (like dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate), and then a topping (like M&M’S, pretzels, marshmallows, and MORE) to create something that’s TOTALLY tailored to YOUR taste buds.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Spring Popcorn Mix

This customizable option is gonna be quite a bit more expensive than just a regular scoop of buttered popcorn, but if you’re looking for something more unique than just your regular ol’ popcorn concoction, this could be a fun snack to munch on during the day!

Pixie Dust. And LOTS Of It.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a kid, a teen, an adult, or a grandparent — EVERYONE can get a hearty dose of pixie dusting in Magic Kingdom for absolutely FREE . Pixie dusting is where a Cast Member has you close your eyes and make a wish while they use a magic wand to sprinkle you with lots of glitter and dreams-come-true magic.

To get your hair adorned with this pixie dust goodness, just make a stop over at Sir Mickey’s gift shop (just behind Cinderella Castle), OR Bonjour Village Gifts (across from Gaston’s Tavern) in Fantasyland.

And then? Track down a cast member with a magic wand ! They can take things over from there!

Write A Letter To Santa

Over at Magic Kingdom’s Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, Christmas happens 365 days of the year!

And BECAUSE it’s Christmas every day here, kids can send letters to Santa from this location year-round. Using the blank templates and crayons provided by the shop, guests can draft their letters to Santa to let them know what they want for Christmas.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Send Letters to Santa at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe!

Once you’re done writing your letter, drop it into Santa’s mailbox, and voila! You’re officially ready for the holidays (even if it’s in the middle of June).

The Nixon Flag

Over at The Hall of Presidents, you’re gonna find a unique piece of Disney history even before the show begins. When you enter the Hall of Presidents building, look for the display case with the saddle. There, you’ll find a folded American Flag. But this isn’t a prop American flag that’s been created just for looks — this is the REAL DEAL.

disney world tour magic kingdom

American Flag

This very flag played a special role in the opening of Disney World . On October 1st, 1971, then-President Richard Nixon flew an American flag outside of the White House. He then packaged that flag and sent it to Roy O. Disney. Roy had the flag flown during Disney World’s dedication day on October 25th, 1971.

So, when you look at old photos of the dedication of Disney World, the big American flag that’s flying in Main Street, U.S.A is the very same one that once flew over the White House — AND the one that you can still see today over in Liberty Square!

Dessert Parties

How can you GUARANTEE a good view of the WHOLE Happily Ever After nighttime spectacular without all the crowd stress? By splurging on a dessert party!

The Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties offer you a chance to enjoy Happily Ever After from a reserved viewing area while you munch away on all sorts of treats and goodies. There are three versions of the Dessert Party that you can choose from:

  • The Magic Kingdom Fireworks Pre-Party starts at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, with dessert offerings prior to the Magic Kingdom Fireworks. After you’ve gotten your fill of snacks and drinks, you’ll be escorted to a reserved standing area over in the plaza garden
  • The same goes for the Post-Party, only in reverse order. You’ll watch Happily Ever After FIRST from the plaza garden reserved standing area, THEN you’ll be shuffled away to the Tomorrowland Terrace for a late night of goodies galore.
  • And then there’s the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Seats & Sweets Party — which takes place at Tomorrowland Terrace DURING the fireworks, meaning you’ll have dedicated seating from the restaurant for the duration of the show while also enjoying the provided snacks.

The pre-and post party will put you back $99-$109 per adult, while the seats and sweets party will cost around $119-$129 per adult.

Plans beyond big thunder mountain railroad.

While this amazing thing isn’t in Magic Kingdom YET, it’s being conjured up for the park’s future as we speak. During the 2022 D23 Expo, Disney leaders tossed around some “what if” ideas about the possibility of a new themed area in Magic Kingdom “just beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad .”

Then, during the 2023 Destination D23 event, Josh D’Amaro (Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman) and Bruce Vaughn (Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Imagineering) said that the future expansion plans for Magic Kingdom were going to be the “largest ever” for the park — with stories told on a scale similar to things like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios and Pandora in Animal Kingdom .

So WHAT is this expansion gonna be about? What stories are gonna unfold here?? Well… Disney’s been keeping us in the dark over that regard. BUT they have thrown out ideas for potential park additions — like a Coco-themed area, or a Disney-villains area, as well as several others “what if” concepts.

We’re not sure what Disney’s gonna finally land on, but — when they do land on SOMETHING — we’ll drop you the big news just as SOON as it goes live.

A Sneaky Mary Poppins Reference

Ready to hop aboard the Disney World Railroad? If you’re loading in from the Frontierland station, take a second to locate the wooden leg on the lost and found shelf .

Up on the leg’s thigh, you’ll see it clearly marked with the name “Smith,” which is a silly Easter Egg tying back to the Mary Poppins film. If you’ve seen the movie before, then you already know the scene I’m talking about:

Bert says, “I know a man with a wooden leg named Smith.”

And Uncle Albert says, “What’s the name of his other leg?”

A real knee-slapper, that one is.

Shave And A Haircut!

Feeling shaggy and you just can’t wait to get a trim until after your Magic Kingdom day? Then you may want to swing by the Harmony Barber Shop over on Main Street, U.S.A!

Harmony Barber Shop is a vintage-style salon where haircuts are available for every age, pixie dust and all .

An adult haircut starts at $21, a kid’s haircut starts at $20, a beard trim starts at $8, and the “My First Haircut” Experience starts at $28 (which includes not only a haircut, but also a commemorative Mickey ears hat, a keepsake lock of hair, and an official milestone certificate)

If you want to get your haircut in Magic Kingdom, Harmony Barber Shop does take a limited number of walk-ins each day, but you’re probably better off getting a reservation online before your trip to guarantee a spot in the barber’s chair.

A SECRET StarCruiser?

Want the insider scoop on a tiny attraction detail that even some Cast Members haven’t spotted before? Then suit up, Space Rangers — because we’re headed to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. In this interactive attraction, guests fire their laser guns to earn points and defeat the Evil Emperor Zurg in an epic space battle.

In the final scene of the attraction , most guests are focused on either Zurg being all defeated (spoiler alert) or Buzz Lightyear as he thanks riders for defending the galaxy. But if you look up towards the ceiling, you’ll spot a StarCruiser soaring by every so often!

Our reporters asked a few Cast Members whether the StarCruiser in this scene is supposed to represent another Toy Story character blasting off, or whether it’s supposed to represent us — but none of the Cast Members we spoke with had ever noticed the StarCruiser before, so the answer still remains a mystery!

Splash Pads

You may be REALLY surprised by what your toddler or kid ends up liking best about Magic Kingdom. Because the Casey Jr.’s Splash ‘n Soak Station is a BIG sleeper-winner for a LOT of them.

disney world tour magic kingdom

It’s not a ride. It’s not a restaurant. It’s not even a show. It’s just a Dumbo-themed splash pad area inside Storybook Circus where your kiddo can run around, get wet, play with different water features, and not have to worry about waiting in ANOTHER long line for a ride.

So if you’re just looking for a place where your kid can blow off some steam, track down the STEAM engine of Fantasyland and cool off a bit!

The Rarest Hidden Mickey

The fact that this hidden Mickey even exists still BOGGLES my mind. Every year — on Mickey and Minnie’s birthday (which is November 18th, so save the date) — a RARE hidden Mickey appears in the queue line for Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid for a super-short window of time.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Mickey AND Minnie

When the clock strikes noon on November 18th (and ONLY November 18th), an oddly-shaped hole in the Little Mermaid queue catches the sun just right to create a Mickey AND Minnie-shaped outline against the wall. You can find this odd-shaped hole past the outdoor portion of the line and underneath the queue’s rocky ceiling.

And if you just so happen to BE in Magic Kingdom on November 18th, cast members will have this area of the queue blocked off for folks who wanna see the hidden Mickey magic (without clogging up the rest of the ride line).

Bragging Rights

In Disney World, you have the chance to become almost ANYTHING — and you’ll have the SOUVENIRS to prove it!

  • Over at the Tomorrowland Speedway, you can get a custom Tomorrowland Speedway license created in the photobooth near the attraction for around $5.
  • At Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, you can earn a galactic hero sticker IF you can MAX OUT your score by earning 999.999 points or more.
  • And, if you’re one of the lucky kiddos aboard the Jungle Cruise, you might be chosen to become an honorary Jungle Cruise Skipper for the day — which also comes with your very own Jungle Cruise license.

The Spectre In The Mirror

The Haunted Mansion gift shop — Memento Mori — might be small, but it IS packed with LOTS of spooky lore. According to Imagineers, this very gift shop was actually the home of Madame Leota (AKA: the floating head inside the Haunted Mansion ride who’s summoning all the spirits “from somewhere beyond.”)

Although Leota only lived here during her “corruptible, mortal state,” a lot of her stuff was left behind — including her gold-rimmed mirror. If you get close enough to the mirror, you just may recognize a familiar face peering back at you .

The Candle Man

I know you’re probably thoroughly spooked by now, but I’m not done with the amazing things hiding out in Memento Mori JUST YET.

But first, a little backstory: Before Haunted Mansion was going to BE Haunted Mansion, Walt was planning on making it a “Museum of Weird” walkthrough. This would’ve featured bizarre additions like voodoo artifacts, coffin clocks, talking chairs, man-eating plants, and more. Of course, you know how THAT story goes — the walkthrough was eventually ditched for Doom Buggies and Grim-Grinning Ghosts.

However, one of the artifacts that was meant to go inside the original attraction now rests in the attic scene of the Disney World attraction. And that’s the eerie, drippy, melty Candle Man ! So how does this tie back in with Memento Mori? Because Candle Man has a COUSIN hanging out inside the shop!

disney world tour magic kingdom

Candle Man’s long lost cousin

At first glance you might miss it, but if you look closely, you can make out the form of a melted-looking creature as he holds up the two candlesticks atop one of the Memento Mori shelves .

Cheer On The Small World Boats

You might not eat the best flatbreads of your life at Pinocchio Village Haus , but you’re still gonna have a whole lot of fun people-watching here. On the first floor of this Fantasyland quick service there are a couple of tables next to a LARGE window that looks out across the it’s a small world ride.

And that’s already entertaining enough. But what makes these table-views even BETTER are the little provided signs that you can hold up for the small world riders to make them DO stuff. These signs say things like “touch your nose,” “sing Let it Go,” “clap,” “give someone a high five,” and other silly things like that.

It’s always fun to see guests play along from down below — which makes this restaurant all-the-more worth visiting. If you don’t see the signs at one of these tables, you can always ask a cast member to help ya track them down .

The Blue Fairy Wish Book

Wait! Don’t leave Pinocchio Village Haus YET! Because there’s ONE MORE fun activity here that ANYONE can do — and not just the people who sit at a certain table. On the first floor of the restaurant, you’ll be able to spot a little stained glass window with a picture of the Blue Fairy, surrounded by a super-sweet quote saying, “You deserve to have your wish come true.”

And right next to this stained glass window, you’ll find the Blue Fairy’s very Wish Book — where you can add your own personal wish in the hopes that the Blue Fairy will put her money where her mouth is and make those wishes HAPPEN .

The Most EXCLUSIVE Suite

There’s an ultra-exclusive castle suite located inside Cinderella Castle , but very few people will ever get the chance to see it in person (and even fewer people will get the chance to stay there).

The Cinderella Castle Suite was originally designed to be a suite for Walt Disney and his family. But because Walt passed before the completion of Disney World, the apartment was turned into office space instead. Then, in 2006, for the “Year of A Million Dreams” celebration, the offices were ripped out and Cinderella Castle Suite was born.

Unfortunately, you can’t pay to stay in this very special hotel room . Generally, you’ll have to be invited or win a contest to get the chance to spend the night here — and, in the past, you could take an EXTREMELY pricey Magic Kingdom tour that’d include a WALKTHROUGH of this space (but still no overnight stay).

That being said, you can still ENTER into Cinderella Castle and DINE there IF you have a reservation for Cinderella’s Royal Table !

Keys To The Kingdom Tour

You can experience exclusive parts of the Magic Kingdom through a cast member-guided walkthrough IF you add on the Keys to the Kingdom tour to your upcoming Magic Kingdom day.

The Keys to the Kingdom Tour is a five-hour experience offering behind-the-scenes access to some of Disney World’s most exclusive areas — like the famous (but only seen by Cast Members) “Utilidor” tunnels constructed underneath Magic Kingdom.

Lunch is included with the tour, and each tour guest receives a commemorative gift afterwards.

Hand-crafted mosaics (with little-known easter eggs).

Can’t snag a reservation for Cinderella’s Royal Table? That’s okay — you can still walk through Cinderella Castle and appreciate those impressive hand-crafted mosaic murals that retell the story of the slipper-losing princess herself.

Inside the castle walkway, you’ll see five different mural sections telling each part of Cindy’s story. But when you get to the fourth mural, there’s actually some hidden Disney animators here !

disney world tour magic kingdom

Castle Mural

The footman’s face is that of Herb Ryman and the gentleman behind him resembles John Hench. Both men started their Disney careers as animators and went on to have a significant input in the New York World’s Fair, Disneyland Park, and Disney World itself.

Oh, and this is kind of a random bonus thing about the castle — that doesn’t have to do with the mosaics but DOES have to do with more small-ish doors? (Because we’re into that apparently.) If you check out the large castle door to your right (when you’re entering through the front of Cinderella Castle) you can faintly notice a door-within-the-door. This feature was commonly used in medieval structures. When the large doors are closed, this smaller door allowed individuals access into the castle without opening up the entire fortress to possible danger.

So when I say imagineers think of EVERYTHING … I mean they think of EVERYTHING.

Even MORE Real American Landmarks

Aside from the Nixon flag, there are even MORE All-American icons hanging out inside The Hall of Presidents within Liberty Square . As you walk into the first room, you’ll see a roped-off seal sprawled out on the floor.

disney world tour magic kingdom

This is actually the “Great Seal of the United States,” made of 100% wool carpet. It actually took multiple acts of Congress to grant Disney the permission to even display it here ! Some serious dedication, but worth it to make this spot even MORE authentic than it was before.

Imagineer Tributes

Next time you’re on Main Street, U.S.A, look up at the windows on Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll notice several names listed across the panes. These names are tributes to various Imagineers and some of the Walt Disney Company’s most important people .

disney world tour magic kingdom

Tribute Windows

So you’ll see names such as…

  • Meg G. Crofton (President of Disney World from 2006-2013)
  • Ed Bullard (Once head of Disney World security)
  • Bob Price (The man who “orchestrated the purchase” of the land that now holds the Disney World property)
  • And, of course, Walt and Roy Disney (amongst many others)

Castle Yoga

What? You never thought about doing some early morning yoga inside the Magic Kingdom before? Because it’s TOTALLY possible… SOMETIMES.

During the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend (which tends to happen toward the end of February each year), you have the option to sign up for Disney Princess Yoga in front of Cinderella Castle IF you’re already signed up for one of their runDisney race events during that same time.

It is an extra cost on top of the race entry fee, but it’s one of the most unique Magic Kingdom opportunities out there. Not to mention, it’s a super-relaxing way to wrap up a race well done.

Remember — runDisney races open up their registrations way early. So if you’re wanting to do something like this, start planning a year out.

Find COMPLETE details and pricing for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend HERE!

Free pirate scavenger hunt.

If ride lines are getting a little TOO long midday, you can head on over to Adventureland and sign up for A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas .

This is a 5–part interactive scavenger hunt where you’ll track down treasures, evade antagonistic scallywags, and learn about secrets you never knew were lurking around this particular region of Magic Kingdom. And after you’ve completed all 5 missions, you’ll earn the GRAND PRIZE — a card signed by Captain Jack Sparrow himself. (No waiting in a meet-and-greet line necessary!)

disney world tour magic kingdom

Pirate’s Adventure

Now, you don’t HAVE to complete all 5 missions if you don’t want to — and there’s no time limit on how long you take to complete a certain mission. But each mission does take around 20 minutes to complete IF you don’t stop to take any breaks.

Oh, and best of all? You get to keep the pirate maps too, whether you finish any missions or not! So at very least, it’s worth swinging by the Crow’s Nest just to get a fun and free souvenir to take home with ya!

An Airplane Missing Its Other Half

Jungle Cruise is FILLED with different kooky secrets and tons of Easter Egg-based storytelling. But one of the most heartbreaking hidden details on this ride is the one you’re gonna find before you enter the Hippo pool on the right-hand side of the boat. That mangled half of a plane you see right there is actually the back half of a WHOLE plane .

disney world tour magic kingdom

The other part of the plane used to reside in a now-defunct attraction from Hollywood Studios’ MGM days, called The Great Movie Ride. The front part of the plane was featured during the ride’s Casablanca scene. As Humphrey Bogart would utter his famous line, a plane would start up behind him.

A Hidden SEA Room

If you dine at Skipper Canteen in Adventureland, you’re in for a real treat — from the unique food, to the corny jokes, to the over-the-top theming.

There are a few different places you could be seated inside this restaurant — and one of these locations is the S.E.A. (Or, Society of Explorers and Adventurers) room.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Notice a certain book sticking out?

As the story goes, the secret meeting room was previously hidden behind a bookcase — which you’ll see in passing as you make your way into the room itself. After you’re seated and you’ve taken your order, make sure to get up and around and take a closer look at said bookcase .

Turns out, there are lots of Easter Eggs titles lining the shelf. For example…

  • The Illustrated Guide to Radio Broadcasting was composed by the Skipper behind the Voice of the Jungle that you hear in the Jungle Cruise queue, Albert AWOL .
  • Also on the shelf is Boat Evacuation Procedures by Cap. Size . (Hardy-har-har.)
  • The Jungle Book title seems to be slightly jutting out of the bookshelf, away from all the other titles.

You know what that means? It means that THIS was the VERY book that you had to have pulled from the shelf to reveal the hidden passageway into the S.E.A. room!

Rocking Chairs At Aunt Polly’s

I’m not gonna lie — we rarely EVER talk about Aunt Polly’s in Magic Kingdom. And that’s because Aunt Polly’s is rarely ever open. But when this quick service IS open, you can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat here within the open air gazebo on the edge of Tom Sawyer’s Island!

(And that means, yes, you will need to ride over on a raft across the Rivers of America to get there… which is part of the fun!)

But even if this restaurant isn’t open when you’re there, the covered patio area has a few rocking chairs lined up across it. So you can still use those to take a load off and just soak in the views across the Rivers of America for a bit.

Create Your Own Tron Figurines

Hey, all you TRON fans out there — how would YOU like to become part of the TRON universe… permanently ? You can participate in the TRON Identity Program — over at Tomorrowland Launch Depot — to create your own custom “Program” action figure.

You’ll customize the action figure by choosing a helmet and body configuration — and you’ll also create an identity chip that will interact with some of the other shop merchandise (like Identity Discs and Remote Control Lightcycles). Once you finish this process, you’ll head over to Command Input to record six lines of dialogue. It takes about 20 minutes to make these selections, and then another 60 minutes for your figure to be ready.

This activity requires advanced reservations (although walk-ins may be accepted depending on the day’s availability) and costs about $90 per figure.

Halloween… in August ?

Magic Kingdom is just as excited to start celebrating Halloween as YOU — which is why they start their celebrations EARLY. Like… REALLY early.

disney world tour magic kingdom

Boo To You Parade

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a seasonal Magic Kingdom event that requires a separate ticket for entry. In 2024, the event takes place on select nights from August 9th through October 31st .

So WHY would you want to go to an earlier Halloween party rather than one closer to the actual holiday? Because the earlier you book, the cheaper the party ticket !

Morning Main Street Rides

Are you gonna WALK right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A… or are you gonna RIDE down it?

During the day, you MIGHT have the opportunity to hop aboard one of the Main Street, U.S.A vehicles and get a ride all the way up to Cinderella Castle. While the vehicles aren’t available ALL of the time, they’re more apt to be out and running during the morning (especially before the Festival of Fantasy parade — since these little Jitneys will not be able to run when the parade is in motion).

disney world tour magic kingdom

Take a ride

There are two pickup and dropoff locations for these vehicles; one in Town Square, and the other in front of the ever-iconic Cinderella Castle .

You can always ask a nearby cast member about when these rides are going to take place — or you can check for posted operation times near the Main Street vehicle pick up/drop off locations.

The Return Of My Favorite Magic Kingdom Sundae

During Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration (which lasted 18 months and started back on October 1st, 2021), we saw a LOT of limited time treats enter the Magic Kingdom scene. But we also saw some long-time favorites disappear for a while, too. Like my favorite All-American Sundae from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor off Main Street, U.S.A.

HOWEVER, after all the anniversary festivities FINALLY wrapped up, my beloved sundae returned to the parlor menu! (And all was right with the world.) The All-American Sundae is a combination of Old-fashioned Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream topped with Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter Drizzle, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry.

disney world tour magic kingdom

All-American Sundae at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

It’s a pretty simple concoction, but the peanut butter drizzle is what REALLY makes this a #1 ice cream contender for me. (SO creamy, nutty, and downright TASTY.)

Fireworks Views From A TOTALLY Unique Perspective

Okay, hear me out. If you’ve already seen the Happily Ever After fireworks from Main Street, U.S.A at least once — or you just have an aversion to crowds — there’s a really FUN and DIFFERENT way to see the show … if you’re willing to gamble on it.

Before the fireworks begin, head over to Frontierland and check how long the wait time is for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Now, you might have to do some math, depending on how long the line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is — but ride lines are typically shorter right before the fireworks happen. If you can time your wait just right (or, better yet, if you have a Lightning Lane that can help you bypass the main line altogether), then you’ll have a unique view of the fireworks while you’re zooming along the tracks !

Become Part Of The Show

The monsters at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor don’t just need your laughter to power their city — they need your JOKES and ALL-AROUND participation, too. Before the show begins, you’ll have the chance to text in a quick joke . Make it something family-friendly that you don’t have to think too hard about — because if your joke is chosen, one of the monsters will read it toward the end of the act!

disney world tour magic kingdom

Mike Wazowski!

But even if you DON’T text in a joke, you still need to be ready to become part of this improv-like show at any given time! You might be featured on the BIG SCREEN, or asked a few questions to help out an act, or you might even become THAT GUY.

Ah, man, we LOVE that guy.

Keep in mind that not EVERYONE will be chosen to participate in these performances (since there will be a LOT of guests and only a limited amount of time for each act).

Throw Out The First Pitch

Better get your throwing arm all warmed up — because you MIGHT be one of the lucky chosen to throw out the Casey’s Corner first pitch on the day of your Magic Kingdom visit! Every morning at Casey’s Corner on Main Street, U.S.A, a First Pitch is thrown… just like in a baseball game !

Usually, Cast Members at Casey’s Corner will ask ONE kiddo if they’d like to throw out the First Pitch (but sometimes an adult might be asked to join in on the fun instead). Whoever the lucky chosen is will typically get a free brownie for a job well done (or rather, a pitch well thrown).

Keep in mind that the first pitch only happens right before the quick service opens up shop — so to increase your chances of it happening for someone in your group, you’re gonna want to rope drop this hot dog establishment.

Restaurants With Parade Views

There are a few Magic Kingdom restaurants with underrated window/outdoor views that aren’t just great for people-watching… but great for PARADE watching, too. If you time your meal just right, and the odds are ever in your favor, then you might be able to get a restaurant seat with a direct view of the Festival of Fantasy parade .

Tony’s Town Square , for instance, has an outdoor viewing area where you can watch the tail end of the parade take place. And the windows over at Crystal Palace might give you a view of the whole parade WITH Cinderella Castle in the background.

These parade-view seats aren’t guaranteed, but you can always ask the host up front about them, just in case they’re available during your reservation time.

If you don’t wanna pay for a full sit-down meal for lunch, Columbia Harbour House — over in Liberty Square — also has select window-seat tables on the second floor where you’ll be able to see the parade from a bird’s eye view These seats are pretty popular though, so you may want to plan to grab your food and (hopefully) find your spot earlier on rather than right before the parade begins.

Disney’s Dark Kingdom Threatens Epic Universe

in Walt Disney World

villains after hours park magic kingdom

Disney news reports have been flooding with new developments on the Disney Villains expansion, but we might actually get more than just the Magic Kingdom.

A vibrant, theatrical stage is adorned with various framed pictures of characters in dynamic poses. The centerpiece features a figure on stage, dramatically lit, with an enthusiastic audience watching from below. Colorful lights and dramatic shadows enhance the scene in this New Villains Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

One of the hottest new developments coming out of the Disney parks this week is that the Disney villains are getting a new stage show set to replace Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As thrilling as that is, it might also mean Disney is doubling down on its dark side, which might be bad news for the competition.

Related:  Rare Characters Debut in Disney World’s Boo to You Parade

Previously predicted to put Disney on the ropes , Epic Universe is a new theme park coming to Orlando, Florida, with innovative attractions, immersive lands, and groundbreaking technology. It includes themed lands like Celestial Park, Dark Universe, Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic, and much more to come. However, Disney has a secret weapon.

Disney Villains Invade ALL of Disney World

Cruella, Iago, Jafar, Ursula, and Captain Hook sitting at a table together Disney Villains

Although Disneyland might have more appearances, a villainous presence in the Magic Kingdom was the most logical choice for their premier location. However, it seems that Disney will be using them a lot more than we first thought.

Related:  Oogie Boogie Bash Not Safe for All Ages

A new villainous stage show was recently announced for Hollywood Studios, more than likely in an effort to tide Guests over until the completion of the Magic Kingdom expansion. The official announcement from the Disney Parks Blog shared that Captain Hook, Maleficent, and more will soon come to greet guests in a brand-new production.

Per Disney,

“Deep in the shadows of Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, something delightfully wicked is about to take the stage. It’s an all-new live production starring your favorite Disney Villains – debuting summer 2025!” “The creative minds at Disney Live Entertainment will transform Sunset Showcase into the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror. The show will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers, with fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent each breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.”

A person dressed as the Headless Horseman rides a horse in front of a dimly lit castle at Disney World. They hold a glowing, carved jack-o'-lantern in one hand, while blue and purple lights illuminate the background, with blurred figures seen in the distance.

This is the biggest presence the villains have had outside of the usual Halloween events , and things are only predicted to progress as the Magic Kingdom expansion nears its completion. Not only that, but the villains have already staked a claim on Hollywood Studios after years of being the primary fixtures of Fantasmic!. However, who’s to say that developments have to stop there?

Related:  VIDEO: Character On Fire at Disney Stage Show

EPCOT and Animal Kingdom both have reasons for needing a splash of villainy here and there. After all, Gaston has been seen looking for Belle at the entrance near the France pavilion, and who wouldn’t want to see Scar prowling around at the Tree of Life?

Additionally, the Disney Villains announcement follows Universal’s own evil expansion . Sometimes, there’s no such thing as coincidence.

A New World of Gods and Monsters

One of Universal’s landmark franchises is its Universal Monsters series , and giving them their own world was a stroke of genius (or madness). As Halloween Horror Nights continues to be one of the most successful events on Universal Studios’ calendar, imagine what having year-round attractions in that similar vein might do to their competitors in the castle.

Related:  New ‘Bluey’ Experience Coming to Disney Springs

Joking aside, the new villain-themed additions and announcements from Disney make it feel like the mouse is throwing down the gauntlet and matching Universal’s energy. Although perhaps not as intimidating as Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, and Dracula, Disney arguably has a much more extensive fanbase.

Although it’s too early in the game to know for sure, we might be looking at a battle of the bad guys in the theme park world. Disney never does anything small, but can they compete with something on Epic’s scale?

How big do you think Disney will go with the villains? Let Inside the Magic know in the comments down below!

On a Budget? These Disney World Snacks Offer the Most Bang for Your Buck

by Heather Adams | Sep 2, 2024 | Animal Kingdom , Disney's Hollywood Studios , EPCOT , Magic Kingdom , Walt Disney World , Walt Disney World Food

Budget Disney World Snacks with Great Value, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich and Mickey Ice Cream Bar

Stay on budget and satisfy your sweet (or savory) cravings with these value-packed snacks at Disney World’s theme parks and resorts.

When those hunger pangs hit at Disney World, you have plenty of snack options . The parks and resorts are filled with delicious options of all varieties – but if you’re looking for a snack that’s amazingly tasty and a great value for your money, it can be tough to narrow down your choices.

Disney World’s most iconic snacks have only gotten more expensive in recent years, thanks to rising inflation and costs. In fact, according to data from Finance Buzz , some of Disney World’s best bites have risen a shocking 120 percent in price over the last 10 years (yep, we’re looking at you, Sanaa Bread Service !).

The beloved Dole Whip? It’s gone up 58 percent. Even simple staple snacks like those deliciously cute Mickey Waffles and oversized, meaty turkey legs have risen 30 and 39 percent, respectively.

So, if you’re searching for snacks that’ll deliver solid bang for your buck and won’t blow your budget, try the following options. They’ll have you covered with plenty of food and standout flavors; some can even be shared.

Mickey Waffles at Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow Chicken Waffle Sandwich

One version of the different waffles and waffle sandwiches available at Sleepy Hollow. Photo by Timothy Moore

Location: Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom Park

Price: $8.49 to $11.59

Instead of opting for your average Mickey waffle with nothing but syrup or powdered sugar, you’ll get more value out of the upgraded versions found at Sleepy Hollow.

There are three different types of sweet Mickey Waffles to choose from at Sleepy Hollow, which are all under $10:

  • Mickey Waffle with Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread, Bananas, Berries, and Whipped Cream
  • Mickey Waffle with Berries and Cream
  • Mickey Waffle with Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread and Bananas

If you’re searching for a heartier snack or a more savory flavor profile, we also love the Mickey Waffle with Sweet-and-Spicy Maple Chicken.

All of these top-tier Mickey waffles are excellent, but the Mickey Waffle with Sweet-and-Spicy Maple Chicken is one of the best snacks in all of Magic Kingdom. It’s essentially a whole meal, with enough meat (literally) to serve as an on-the-go lunch or dinner.

Plus, compared to similarly-priced items like the corn dogs also served at Sleepy Hollow, you’ll get plenty more bang for your buck.

Mini Corn Dogs at Casey’s Corner

Location: Main Street, U.S.A., Magic Kingdom Park

Price: $10.79

Sure, your typical corn dog at Disney World is pretty good. But when it comes to savory snacks that provide good value for your money, it’s hard to beat the mini version – specifically, the Mini Corn Dogs sold at Casey’s Corner.

This Main Street staple is notorious (in the best possible way) for its miniature dogs. What makes these smaller-sized versions so popular? It’s the ratio of batter to dog, with each bite delivering just the right amount of crispy golden batter to savory meat filling.

Plus, unlike the full-size corn dog, the mini version can be eaten at a slower pace, much like Disney World’s uber-popular salty popcorn. They’re great for sharing with a friend or enjoying as you wait in line.

Paired with French fries or Cuties, they also make for one nicely well-rounded snack, all at a price that’s less than most of the other full-size dogs on the Casey’s Corner menu.

Sandwich Cookies at Karamell-Küche

Sandwich cookie at Karamell-Kuche, Germany Pavilion

The Gingerbread Sandwich Cookie, one of the rotating favorites. Photo by Timothy Moore

Location: Germany Pavilion, EPCOT

Price: $7.29 to $7.79

Craving something sweet like a Dole Whip or Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich? Try one of the sandwich cookies at Karamell-Küche in EPCOT. They’re a filling snack and quite rich, meaning you don’t need a lot to feel like you’ve had quite the treat.

Inside this shop, which features a selection of delicious German treats made with Werther’s Original Caramel, you’ll find a few different flavors of sandwich cookies. No matter which you choose, you’ll get two sizable soft cookies with sweet, decadent buttercream in between them.

While the varieties and flavor rotate seasonally (gingerbread and snickerdoodle are two favorites), meaning you may not encounter the same sandwich cookies on every visit, any option available at Karamell-Küche offers great bang for your buck.

With a price under $8 and enough cookie and filling to satisfy any sweet tooth, you’ll be glad you decided to bite into one of these treats.

Pretzel Bread Pudding at Sommerfest

Price: $4.79

Technically, the Pretzel Bread Pudding you’ll find at Sommerfest in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion is a dessert – but it’s a delicious snack that anyone with a serious sweet tooth will love.

Features both pieces of salty jumbo pretzels and sweet vanilla and caramel sauces, this spin on bread pudding is decadent, gooey, and wonderful sweet, with a touch of savory flavor to balance it out. It’s comforting and surprising all at once, and you’ll love how each bite differs slightly with chunks of pretzel, bread, and the slightly crunchy, toasted topping.

Best of all, with a price under $5, the Pretzel Bread Pudding offers impressive value for your money. While its size isn’t exactly big enough to share (and trust us, you won’t want to share even a bite), it’s so budget-friendly you can easily get two.

Grilled Corn on the Cob at Harambe Fruit Market

Location: Africa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Price: $5.29

Grilled corn on the cob is already an upgrade over your typical ear of corn, and if you’re looking for a savory, richly flavorful snack that won’t break the bank at Disney World, Harambe Fruit Market offers a spiced one you can’t miss.

Available with or without African spices, this veggie snack is even more delicious when you opt to add on the available seasoning. While the ear of corn itself is decently satisfying, the spice mix makes it more flavorful and delivers more bang for your buck, especially if you’re searching for a snack you can’t get at any Disney World cart or kiosk.

Plus, with a price under $6 even with recent increases and inflation, there’s really not much better than a large but affordable ear of smoky, spice-laden corn that’ll keep hunger at bay.

September 9th Is Going to Be a Game Changer for Magic Kingdom — Here’s Why

disney world tour magic kingdom

Something major is happening at Disney World. This year has seen a ton of change coming to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” The reimagining of EPCOT was “completed” with the opening of CommuniCore Hall , Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened st Magic Kingdom, massive attractions like Test Track went down for refurbishment , and the resort’s skip-the-line system was changed to Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass .

We even learned what the resort will be gaining ( Cars Land , Villains Land , Monsters, Inc. Land ) and losing (Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, Tomorrowland Shootin’ Arcade, MAYBE Muppet*Vision 3D) in the coming years. However, Disney has surprise-announced one more major change coming in September.

Since TRON Lightcycle/Run opened at the Magic Kingdom, the only ways to ride have been to either purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass (previously known as an Individual Lightning Lane) or join a virtual queue at either 7AM or 1PM. Given the new ride’s popularity, both of these options usually filled up very quickly, leaving many who wanted to ride Tron out in the cold.

Until Now.

Beginning on September 9th, TRON Light/Cycle Run will begin using a traditional standby queue. Meaning that instead of waking up early or setting an alarm for 1PM in the middle of a park day to try and score a virtual queue, you can simply hop on a line and wait to ride TRON the traditional way. Lightning Lane Single Passes will also remain available for individual purchase as well.

According to Disney, TRON Lightcycle/Run allows guests to “leave the real world behind and join Team Blue in a quest across the Grid—the dark, computerized world with no horizons from TRON. Here, there’s no limit to the excitement.”

The coaster-like attraction, which first opened at Shanghai Disneyland in 2016, debuted at the Magic Kingdom in February 2023 after a long, pandemic-delayed construction process. The ride has been met with generally positive reviews for its experience and theming, though there has been some consternation about its relatively short length .

After nearly two years of a virtual queue, the Magic Kingdom’s TRON Lightcycle/Run is moving to a traditional standby queue beginning on September 9th. Stay tuned to AllEars for further Disney World updates.

10 Refurbishments And Closures Happening Now At Walt Disney World (September 2024)

Jungle Cruise, Theme Park Tourist

Disney parks are constantly changing their refurbishment schedules, making it difficult for guests to keep up with the operating times and latest news regarding their favorite attractions, resorts, shops, and restaurants. Here are a few big, upcoming changes that are either confirmed by their respective parks or at the least very strongly rumored for the very near future.

In this month’s update, the popular Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom and Test Track at EPCOT remain closed and we get the reopening date announced for Blizzard Beach.

1. Jungle Cruise (Magic Kingdom)

Status : Confirmed

Dates : August 26, 2024 – October 17, 2024

The Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom temporarily closed at the end of August for refurbishment and will remain shuttered until October 17, 2024.

2. Test Track (EPCOT)

disney world tour magic kingdom

Dates : June 17, 2024 – TBC

We still don’t have any further updates as to when Test Track will reopen and current speculation online is leaning towards 2025. Earlier in April, it was confirmed on the official Walt Disney World website that Test Track at EPCOT would be temporarily closing for refurbishment beginning in June, “On June 17, 2024, Test Track Presented by Chevrolet will temporarily close. Please check back for additional information.”

It was back at the D23 Expo in September 2023 where it was first announced that the iconic Test Track at EPCOT which officially opened in March 1999 would be reimagined and so far we have few details of exactly what will be done. What we do know is that Disney is working with Chevrolet and the opening day attraction, The World of Motion will be the inspiration.

3. Blizzard Beach

disney world tour magic kingdom

Dates : March 17 – November 3, 2024

It has now been confirmed on the official Walt Disney World calendar that Blizzard Beach will reopen on on Monday November 4, 2024. At this point Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will close for its annual refurbishment.

This has been the pattern since the closing of the theme parks due to COVID-19. We are still hopeful that at some point in the future we could see both Disney water parks open at the same time but this will remain to be seen.

Disney has already announced that Blizzard Beach will close at the end of the day on May 23, 2025 when we assume Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will then reopen.

4. Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain, Disney

Dates : January 22, 2023 – Permanent

Splash Mountain at Disney’s Magic Kingdom officially closed at the end of Sunday January 22, 2023 in order to begin its extensive transformation to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. News of this closure will come as sad news to Splash Mountain fans especially as many assumed Disney would keep it open until the end of the 50th Anniversary celebrations which ended on March 31.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opened at the Magic Kingdom on June 28, 2024.

5. Voyage Of The Little Mermaid (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)

Voyage of the little mermaid, Disney

Dates : March 2020 – TBA

Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the one show that Disney had remained quiet about since the theme parks reopened in July 2020 after the closures due to COVID-19 which began in March 2020.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid was a spectacular indoor show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios retelling the story of The Little Mermaid live, with Ariel, Flounder, and all their underwater (and land) friends. The story was retold with memorable songs and colorful puppets.

After 3 and a half years of silence and with many Disney fans assuming this show was closed for good, on December 19, Disney announced that they would be reimagining the Voyage of The Little Mermaid and would debut “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” at the Animation Courtyard theater in fall 2024.

We will keep you updated on this as we head through 2024.
