The Oval is a cricket ground in London, England, and the home of Surrey County Cricket Club.

9. Craven Cottage Stadium Tour

Craven Cottage Stadium is a historic football stadium located in Hammersmith, London.

Henley’s family-friendly museum explores the history of the Thames, the sport of rowing and the community of Henley-on-Thames, and makes a good out-of-town jaunt. A virtual reality exhibit allows visitors to experience the cox’s view of a race, but the top attraction is probably the Sydney IV boat in which Steve Redgrave won his fifth Olympic gold medal in 2000 – visitors apparently never fail to comment on the size of the rowers’ shoes, which are still in the boat.

London is the undisputed world capital of football. No other city can boast as many professional football clubs, or such collection of large football stadiums. A London football trip is a must-do experience for any football fan.

London Football – an introduction

London’s football landscape is still changing rapidly. While its collection of football stadiums is already beyond impressive, new football stadiums continue to be built and in a few years London will be able to show off five 60,000+ football stadiums. There may come a time that London will be able to host a World Cup on its own.

London has one of the absolute temples of football in the form of Wembley , and large existing modern stadiums in the form of the Emirates Stadium and West Ham’s redeveloped London Stadium . Spurs will soon add their own large new arena to this, and Chelsea are likely to follow suit in a few years, though both White Hart Lane and Stamford Bridge are fine stadiums by themselves.

But London is not all about large modern football stadiums. In fact, what makes the city so attractive is its variety from large to small. There are, for example, Fulham’s Craven Cottage , perfectly located on the banks of the Thames with its magnificent classic main stand, Crystal Palace’s atmospheric Selhurst Park , Leyton Orient’s quirky Matchroom Stadium , and Wimbledon’s cosy Kingsmeadow.

Further out, there are some beautiful old classic stands in places like Luton and Southend, intimate grounds in the likes of Crawley and Stevenage, and still plenty of terraces for more of an old school football experience.

You’ll quickly make your way through London from one ground to another with London’s excellent transport connections, and with a spread out schedule you will easily be able to pack multiple games in one weekend. A London football trip is still nearly impossible to beat.

London Football – the stadiums

London Football – getting around

Getting around London isn’t particularly hard with the excellent coverage that the underground network provides. Most London stadiums are near or at reasonable walking distance from a tube station, which makes getting to these stadiums an easy affair.

However, there are a few exceptions, even in London, and in these cases a train ride is generally required to get to the stadium. While perhaps not as frequent as the tube, the train system isn’t particularly hard to navigate either and trains still tend to run regularly and all London stadiums can be reached on your Oyster transport card so no need to buy separate tickets.

Of course, most stadiums are served by buses as well, though few visitors will end up using these unless you’re travelling local. If that’s the case, it’s worth checking on of the journey planner apps to see if a bus is quicker for you.

City-wide journey planners such as the Citymapper app, Google Maps , and the TFL website will help you with your journey. They do cover trains as well, but train journey planners such as nationalrail.co.uk and thetrainline.com might come in handy as well.

Get on the tube on a Saturday and you’re bound to bump into loads of different football fans travelling in, out, through, and around the city. The tube and trains rarely get too busy before a match, but schedule in a bit of queuing after the match if it’s one of the larger stadiums.

Below table gives you a very rough idea how long it will take you to travel to each stadium from three central London destinations.

North West London

Wembley Stadium is as well-connected as you would expect: three tube lines, the Bakerloo, Jubilee, and Metropolitan line, all stop close to the stadium, though most will choose the quick Metropolitan. If it’s a sell-out, there’ll be a bit of queuing after the match, but crowd management is excellent.

A few stops further up the Jubilee line there’s Barnet’s The Hive Stadium. It’s a 10-minute walk from Canons Park station to the stadium, but it’s an easy journey.

Not officially in London, but still within the M25 ring road and in the London metro area, is Watford’s Vicarage Road. It’s still about just on the tube, at the end of the Metropolitan line, though catching a train from Marylebone is generally quicker.

North London

The Emirates Stadium is equally well connected with both the frequent Piccadilly and Victoria lines running past the ground. Again, there’ll likely be a bit of post-match queuing for the tube station.

Spurs’ White Hart Lane, however, isn’t on the tube unless you fancy the 30-minute walk from Seven Sisters station. For those who don’t, catching a bus from Seven Sisters or a quick train ride from Liverpool Street station is the way to go. Prepare for some post-match queues for the train station though.

East London

West Ham’s new London Stadium is located right next to one of London’s prime transport hubs: Stratford. You’ve got the choice between two frequent tube lines, the Central and Jubilee line, an overground line, the DLR, and many train and bus services.

Leyton Orient’s The Matchroom Stadium is only one stop beyond Stratford on the Central line: station Leytonstone. Very easy to reach, and no worries about queuing after the match.

South East London

South East London is train territory, though you can reach Millwall’s The Den by tube if you don’t mind a 20-minute walk from tube station Bermondsey on the Jubilee line. Otherwise, catch a train from London Bridge station.

No tube option for Charlton’s The Valley though, which can also be reached by train from London Bridge station.

South London

The train is also the only way to reach Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park. Catch a train from London Bridge (or Waterloo) station for the 15-minute journey.

It’s a slightly longer train journey to Wimbledon’s tiny Kingsmeadow stadium from Waterloo station, to which you need to add another 10 minutes walking.

West London

West London is back on the tube again, but it’s not always the quickest and highest frequency lines, for example in the case of Chelsea and Fulham, which are both on the District line, though the Piccadilly line offers an alternative for those willing to walk a bit more.

QPR’s Loftus Road is one of the most central stadiums and easy to reach with the Central Line or Hammersmith & City / Circle Line, but Brentford’ Griffin Park, further west, is a bit more of a challenge with a train journey from Waterloo or a significant walk (or bus) from South Ealing station on the Piccadilly Line.

Outside London

Obviously, if you’re travelling outside of London a train journey is always needed, which can be a quick one or a slower one. Depending on where the stadium is located you may then need to add a short walk, a long walk, or a bus ride to your journey.

In the case of Gillingham, Luton, and Southend it’s only a short walk from the station, in the case of Crawley and Stevenage either a longer walk or a short bus ride are needed, but in the case of Reading and Wycombe you’ll need to add a (shuttle) bus ride to your train journey.

In all cases, within and outside London, always make sure to check your journey beforehand as there are regularly changes to the service on the weekends due to maintenance works.

London has six airports with international flights: Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, London City Airport, Luton Airport, Stansted Airport, and Southend Airport. The first two have most intercontinental flights, while the last three and Gatwick have most low-cost flights.

In general, it doesn’t matter too much which airport you fly into as all have rail (train / tube) and often bus (cheaper) connections into London, and you’ll be travelling through central London anyway to get to your stadium, often even if they’re in the same part of London.

Of course, if you’re staying in Southend, try to fly on Southend Airport, and if you’re staying in Luton, get a flight to Luton Airport. Furthermore, if you have the choice, Gatwick Airport might be convenient if you’re staying near Selhurst Park, while Heathrow works well if you’re staying near Griffin Park.

London Football – where to stay

It’s easy to find your way around London so in general there’s no need to stay close to the match you’re attending. Most people will therefore decide to pick any hotel in London that they consider good value and fits within their budget, and from there make their way to the match and back.

Of course, you may have a reason to want to stay particularly close to a stadium, perhaps to be back at your hotel quickly if it’s an evening game, or just because you like the idea. In some cases that’s pretty easy, in others a bit of a challenge.

In central London, both Stamford Bridge and (to a lesser extent) Craven Cottage are located at close distance from the South Kensington and Earls Court areas that are packed with tourist hotels. There are plenty hotels not too far from QPR’s Loftus Road as well, which is also relatively close to the Bayswater area, another popular hotel area.

Further out of the centre, there is a decent choice of hotels near both Wembley Stadium and London Stadium, even often a little more affordable than in the centre, and with the excellent transport connections you’re quickly in central London.

In some cases, for example the Emirates Stadium, Griffin Park, and Vicarage Road, choice is limited, but there’s still the odd chain hotel and a few local ones around, but in other cases you’ll be lucky to even find a basic local hotel. Of the larger stadiums, White Hart Lane is the only one with no hotel around (though there’ll likely be one soon once the new stadium is ready). Of course, you will always be able to find an apartment rental through the likes of Airbnb if you must stay close.

Outside of London, the choice of hotels will likely be a bit more limited, but there will nearly always be the odd hotel in the local city centre or a roadside hotel not too far from the stadium.

London Football – how to get tickets

Getting tickets for one of the London clubs can be very easy or ridiculously hard depending on the club. If the club doesn’t play in the Premier League, you can nearly always just show up on the day and buy your tickets at the stadium before the match, though if it’s an important match or a local derby it’s always better to buy in advance plus it saves you some possible queuing at the ticket office before the match.

The one exception here is Wimbledon. Kingsmeadow is a small stadium, and while Wimbledon don’t sell out every match, they do occasionally, so for any high-profile match it’s recommended to buy in advance.

If it’s a Premier League match though, getting tickets might be harder. In all cases, you’ve got to buy in advance as most London Premier League clubs tend to sell out regularly.

The easiest to get tickets for are normally Watford and West Ham, unless one of the top teams comes to visit. It is still necessary to buy (well) in advance for a regular Premier League match, preferably when they go on general sale, but if you do you’ll normally be able to get some tickets.

Getting tickets for Spurs didn’t use to be too difficult either, but it’s their last season at White Hart Lane so demand is up. It will likely be easier again if they move to the much-larger Wembley next season.

There’s a catch with Crystal Palace as they only sell tickets to club members so you need to buy a membership on top of your tickets to get to the match. Once you’ve got that done, it’s not too hard to get a ticket for a regular league match if bought in advance, but of course it adds to the price if it’s a one-off visit.

The toughest ones are Arsenal and Chelsea, who both sell out every match. Just because demand is so high, you’ll need to buy a club membership to be able to get tickets as all tickets tend to sell before they go on general sale. You may be luckier with an early round Cup match or low-profile Champions League match, but if you really want to attend a match of these two, you’ve got to invest in a club membership. Once done, make sure you buy your tickets directly when the tickets go on sale for your membership level.

All clubs sell their tickets online, which is the best way to buy your tickets if you do so in advance. Most websites are rather easy to use and they ship your tickets or you’ll be able to pick them up from the ticket office on the day of the match.

Tickets for the England National team aren’t generally too hard to get either. Few qualifying matches and friendlies sell out, but make sure you buy in advance online.

London Football – Stadium Tours

If you’re in town during a week with no matches, missed out on tickets for one of the big clubs, or for some other reason can’t make it to a match, then a stadium tour can be a good alternative. It will also give you the opportunity to see parts of the stadium that you won’t be able to see during a match.

Wembley, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, and West Ham all run many tours a day, though Spurs have reduced tours now that White Hart Lane is in its last months. In some cases these are self-guided, in other cases a guide will show you around the stadium. Sometimes booking is necessary (or strongly recommended to not miss out) while in other cases you can just show up. Booking can be made online through the official websites.

Some smaller clubs offer tours too, e.g. Fulham, Reading, and QPR, though not as regular as the big clubs, ranging from once a day to once every other week so make sure to look up the current schedule on their websites and to book your spot where required.

Many clubs also offer special premium tours, e.g. guided by an ex-player, or on the day of the match to witness preparations. They will list these options on their official website.

Each stadium offers numerous types of tours depending on the experience you wish to have. Price ranges vary, but you can expect to pay around £10.00 for a museum visit and £20.00 for a standard tour. Trips to the Museum can be at your leisure, and the tours usually take anywhere from one hour to two, with shortened tours available on match days.

Useful Information

All stadiums offer a visit to the Museum separate from the tour, which is usually the cheapest way to visit.
All booked tours include a visit to the museums, also.
During match days, large portions of the stadiums will be off limits, so make sure to check before you go.
Tours at all stadiums require a moderate level of fitness as there are many steps included. For those with mobility problems, contact the venue ahead of time to find out what options they may have for you.
Public transport is the best and easiest way to visit all these venues.

Located in Highbury, London, the Emirates has been the home stadium of Arsenal since 2006.

For those wishing to visit the stadium, there are many options to choose from. Guests can take a behind-the-scenes guided tour, have a VIP experience with a tour led by a legendary Arsenal player, or just take a visit to their historic museum.

Legends Tour:

A guided tour led by a premier league footballer who has previously played for Arsenal. This is a one hour tour that highlights the venue but is focused mostly on the behind-the-scenes world of playing for Arsenal, including the time the guide played and their thoughts on the current team, plus any upcoming Arsenal news. The tour finishes with free entry to the Arsenal Museum.

VIP Experience:

A VIP guided tour of the stadium, led by Lee Dixon, Martin Keown, Ray Parlour or David Seaman alongside Arsenal Commentator, Nigel Mitchell. These tours take guests into areas of the Stadium not normally open to the public and include all the real stories of the legends and moments that have made up Arsenal’s history.

Nearest Underground Stations: Arsenal, Finsbury Park, and Highbury & Islington Stations. Holloway Road station is nearby but is EXIT ONLY before and after matches.

Note: Driving to the Emirates stadium is never a good idea. There are strict match day parking restrictions in operation in the areas surrounding the stadium, including roads closed off to all traffic entirely.

Tips, Notes, and Reviews:

Personal food and drink will not be permitted inside the stadium.
There are no luggage facilities. Large bags and luggage will not be allowed inside. If you need to store your bags or luggage prior to your tour, check out our Where to Store Luggage in London for options.
The pitch is refurbished every summer which means the dug-out and locations adjacent to the pitch can be closed when this happens, so consider visiting in other seasons or contact the stadium first to find out if the pitch is open.
Similarly, every May the stadium hosts a number of pitch-side events which means the players' tunnel and dug out are not accessible. And on Match Days, half of the tour route is unavailable to visit.
Many guests stated that the self-guided tour gives more freedom, allowing you to take your time when exploring or taking photographs, so for those who love to take pictures, this may be the best option.
The Trophy Room is only viewable via a tour and is not part of the Museum, so make sure to take the tour if you want to see the trophies!

CHELSEA STAMFORD BRIDGE STADIUM

Stamford Bridge Stadium in South-West London has been the home of Chelsea F.C. since 1905. For those wishing to explore the legendary Stamford Bridge, there are a few great ways to visit.

Chelsea offers a standard behind-the-scenes tour that takes guests into all areas of the Stadium, an option to take a tour led by a legendary Chelsea player, and an option to have a private behind-the-scenes tour with your own personal guide, or just a visit to the Museum.

All 20 Premier League stadiums for the 2024-25 season have been ranked from best to worst based on various factors such as history and atmosphere.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium stands out as one of the newest and top-ranked venues, combining modern design with a large, expensive experience for fans.
Old Trafford, once revered as the best ground in world football, has faced criticism for structural issues, but still competes in terms of atmosphere and prestige.

The Premier League displays some of the most iconic football stadiums on the planet each and every week. From Anfield to Old Trafford, each ground has its own unique attributes that make it feel special to the fans of each club.

Among the 20 grounds, some are among the most expensive on the planet, while others could do with some redevelopment work. The earth-shattering noise made within the four walls of a football stadium can really impact the perception to fans viewing from the outside.

It's an incredibly difficult task to rank each stadium from best to worst due to the subjectivity of the matter. However, below is an attempt at doing just that with the following factors taken into consideration:

Construction

1 Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

One of the newest Premier League stadiums is unsurprisingly ranked as the best in the entire division. Tottenham's newly constructed ground is a state-of-the-art facility that holds musical concerts and other events outside of football.

Spurs play in front of the second-biggest capacity in the English top flight, but the £1 billion stadium comes with an extremely expensive experience. Despite that, Ange Postecoglou's men have been backed by an incredible atmosphere at their home ground, which was first used in 2019. With a modern edge over many of the other stadiums yet to be discussed, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is beautifully designed and in a good location - in the capital.

2 st james' park, newcastle united.

St James' Park would be placed towards the top of this list based on atmosphere alone. The loyal Geordie fan base turn up in their thousands to sing their hearts out on match days, so much so that the noise can be heard loud and clear when watching their games on TV. This was particularly evident during the 2022-23 season as Eddie Howe guided his talented team into the Champions League.

After years of mismanagement under the previous regime, the Magpies had been awoken both on and off the pitch. A huge victory in Europe's top competition against PSG had the famous old ground rocking. It is also one of the oldest stadiums in the top tier of English football, which is a credit to the incredibly designed north-east ground.

3 Emirates Stadium

Arsenal fans were understandably skeptical when it was decided that their famous home Highbury would be knocked down and the Gunners would move into a brand new ground. The Emirates opened its doors in 2006 and, despite some teething problems during the first few years, it's fair to say the move was the right decison.

With over 60,000 fans in attendance for each home match, Mikel Arteta has assembled a quality team that supporters are proud of once more. In Arsene Wenger's final period at the club, the atmosphere may not quite have matched the quality of their stadium. However, in recent years, the noise has ramped up on the red side of north London and opposing players must now feel daunted when visiting Arsenal.

Anfield is one of the most iconic stadiums in world football, nevermind in England. European nights at Liverpool's home ground are famous for their incredible atmosphere. Some of the biggest teams on the continent have visited Merseyside and played within themselves due to the hostile reception from the crowd.

These occasions could soon be amplified as the main stand of the ground was developed in 2024, increasing their capacity above Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. Positioned across Stanley Park from Goodison Park, Anfield has always been Liverpool's home and will continue to be with the vast work FSG have done during their time in charge of the club.

5 villa park, aston villa.

Aston Villa spent a long time as a sleeping giant in English football, as the club even dropped into the Championship in 2016, taking Villa Park with them. This used to be where the European champions played their home games, but it was soon reduced to a second-tier ground.

Unai Emery has the team aiming for the heights they once reached on the pitch, however, and the aura around Villa Park has started to return as a result. Their ventures into European football have brought back a special feeling to the famous ground, which has the seventh-biggest capacity in the country. The Holte End in particular is an iconic sight with the stand towering over the pitch, although some may mark the stadium down for its location in Birmingham.

6 Etihad Stadium

Manchester city.

It's hard to imagine a world in which Manchester City don't constantly get hit with 'Emptyhad' shouts, but that can take nothing away from the building the reigning Premier League champions reside in. The Etihad Stadium was initially built for the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and eventually replaced Maine Road as the Citizens' ground.

Aesthetically, the stadium is fit for one of the most dominant teams on the planet and Pep Guardiola's success at the club has certainly helped enhance the atmosphere. The 55,000-seater is often bouncing with Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne wreaking havoc on the pitch. City supporters are often seen pulling out their now-famous 'Poznan' celebration in the stands as the trophy cabinet in the Etihad continues to grow.

7 Old Trafford

Manchester united.

Manchester United fans will be looking at this list in despair as only 20 years ago, Old Trafford was revered as one of the greatest stadiums in world football. However, the state of the Theatre of Dreams is completely different in 2024. Questions have been raised over the structure of the ground built in the early 20th century.

A Premier League match against Arsenal in the 2023-24 season displayed the inefficiencies of the roof at Old Trafford, with rain water pouring into the seating area and even the concourse. Many trophies have been lifted within those four walls and Manchester United's home is still capable of competing with the very best atmospheres around with their incredible fan base.

Many probably wouldn't have Wolves' home ground as one of the best in the Premier League, but Molineux is an incredibly underrated venue for football. The men in gold may not always be the most entertaining to watch, but their fans are renowned for getting behind their team ferociously and letting the opposition know what they think of them.

With a capacity of over 30,000, it has been the home to Wolves for well over 130 years now and has seen the very best the club has had to offer. This includes the title-winning sides in the 1950s. Molineux could be home to no team other than Wolves, with the iconic colours of the club running through the ground. The brilliant design makes it one of the more pleasing stadiums on the eye when watching a game on TV.

9 London Stadium

West ham united.

Another one of the more modern grounds is West Ham United's London Stadium. Initially used for the London Olympics in 2012, it has taken quite some time for Hammers fans to feel at home in the bowl-shaped stadium. Everyone will remember the early days with poor performances on the pitch coinciding with pitch invasions and protests.

The tapestry within the walls has made it feel more like a West Ham ground rather than a generic stadium with the men in claret and blue merely being tenants. It may not match up to the legendary Boelyn Ground in the eyes of many supporters, but the increased capacity does help the Irons feel like a bigger club in general, with some memorable nights already being played out in the east London ground.

10 Stamford Bridge

Stamford Bridge is close to the hearts of Chelsea fans for many reasons. Whether it be the memories of all the trophies the men in blue have lifted in west London, or the special touches such as Peter Osgood's ashes being buried under the penalty spot at the Shed End.

Located in an affluent part of London, the ground has changed a lot since it was first used in 1877. The greyhound racing track was removed, and the stands were redeveloped to bring the stadium into the modern day, and Stamford Bridge is now one of the most iconic in the country.

11 Gtech Community Stadium

Brentford may be punching above their weight due to the history of the club and the small nature of their ground, but the Bees do boast the newest stadium in the Premier League currently. After leaving Griffin Park to move to the Gtech Community Stadium, which cost £71 million, the team started to match that ambition on the pitch by reaching the top flight.

Thomas Frank's men use the vocal 17,000 fans inside the ground to make it as daunting as possible for any away sides visiting in the Premier League. The stadium is easily accessible via public transport and is cleverly constructed to fit the area of land it sits on.

12 The City Ground

Nottingham forest.

The team that play their football inside the City Ground on a weekly basis may currently be at the same lofty heights they hit during the late 1970s, but the stadium is still one of the most recognisable in the UK. Nottingham Forest were once a force to be reckoned with under the legendary Brian Clough, winning two European Cups.

Not only does it look phenomenal inside its walls on match day, but the famous old stadium built on the banks of the River Trent is in a wonderful location. One of the main issues with the construction of the City Ground is that supporters have often complained about having pillars obstructing their view of the pitch.

13 goodison park.

Goodison Park will not be the home of the blue team in Merseyside for much longer, with plans to build a new stadium after spending over 130 years in their current home. Everton were once the team to beat in the city but have since been overtaken by their rivals a short distance across Stanley Park.

While fortunes on the pitch haven't been incredible in the past decade, the Toffees are backed aggressively by their long-standing fan base, with the Gwladys Street End being particularly loud when the team is performing well. However, when things aren't going to plan, Goodison has been known to turn into a coffin of boos with its tight structure allowing every moan and groan to be heard. It will be a sad day for the Premier League to wave goodbye to the historic venue in the years to come.

14 king power stadium, leicester city.

After just one season in the second division, Leicester City bounced back and earned promotion back to the Premier League by finishing first and lifting the Championship trophy. Built in the early 2000s, the King Power Stadium has been home to the Foxes ever since, and they will again play there once they return to the Premier League next season, bringing its impressive atmosphere with it.

There are currently plans to expand the stadium, and work has been in the pipeline for quite some time. Last year, the Foxes announced that they'd received permission to begin work on the ground, with plans to bump its capacity to over 40,000. With potential upgrades on the way, it remains to be seen whether they will improve or worsen the ground, but it's still just one of five in the top flight right now that can boast of having the Premier League trophy in its possession.

15 St Mary's Stadium

Southampton.

Another team returning to the Premier League after a very brief absence is Southampton. The similarities don't stop there, though, with the two sides having very similar stadiums. St Mary's also opened in the early 2000s, and the Saints have played there ever since. Its bowl-like structure ensures that fans all over the ground have an excellent viewpoint no matter where they're sat.

What pushes St Mary's Stadium slightly below the King Power is the fact that the atmosphere isn't quite as electric as the one heard and seen up in the Midlands. That could change in the future, though.

16 Selhurst Park

Crystal palace.

When discussing Premier League atmospheres, Crystal Palace could be right up there. Selhurst Park transforms into one of the loudest grounds in the country when the players are working hard on the pitch. The passionate supporters are positioned extremely close to the pitch, which helps create an intimidating feeling for opposing players.

With plans to redevelop the stadium now that Palace have been established in the Premier League for over a decade, Selhurst Park could soon move further up this list, with £185 million expected to be spent on the work. If Oliver Glasner continues to inspire the team to perform as they did towards the end of the 2023-24 season, it could become a fortress that none of the big teams in particular enjoy visiting.

17 Portman Road

Ipswich town.

After over two decades away from the top flight, Ipswich Town and Portman Road have finally returned to the Premier League. The stadium, built in the late 1800s has been home to the Tractor Boys for over 125 years and is now a staple of the football club. A traditional-looking ground, Portman Road is a throwback to the past and with stands named after some of the club's biggest managers, Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey, its historical significance is apparent to all.

The ground was upgraded in 2002 but has seen very little work done to it since and its return to the top flight will be a very welcome addition to travelling fans.

18 Craven Cottage

Craven Cottage may have made its way higher up this list had the planned expansion of the Riverside Stand been completed on time. However, fans have been left furious with Fulham as work will not be complete on the new stand until the 2024-25 season.

This goes against the small ground that has become well-known for its lack of space in the changing rooms. One of the quirks of the stadium is that it is named after a cottage built by William Craven in 1780, which sits in one of the corners of the stadium. Pillars do obstruct the view for some fans, but the uniqueness of the construction works in Craven Cottage's favour.

19 AMEX Stadium

Brighton & hove albion.

Brighton have become one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Premier League, with Roberto De Zerbi's men marching into European competition for the first time in the 2023/24 season. However, the AMEX Stadium may not quite be fitting for such a high-intensity and successful team.

It became the Seagulls' home in 2011 and while it may not finish top of the class for atmosphere or capacity, the move to the AMEX Stadium was the start of their rise to the top of English football. It brought an end to a 16-year homeless spell and was the start of the club's upward trajectory as they reached the Premier League within six years.

20 Vitality Stadium

Bournemouth.

Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium is seen by many as the worst Premier League stadium due to it having the smallest capacity in the English division. The Cherries are punching well above their weight on the pitch and the fans' close proximity to the field is an advantage, but the noise still doesn't compare to other grounds.

In all honesty, Bournemouth's home wouldn't look out of place in the Championship, and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see the club look at either expanding the number of seats in the stadium or maybe even building a new venue to host their home matches if the financial power of the club can stretch to it.

West Ham’s London Stadium has had a dramatic makeover this summer as baseball returns to the UK.

Hammers supporters may not recognise their home ground, which has been transformed from football stadium into a state-of-the-art ballpark for the latest MLB London Series.

The London Stadium has been transformed from football ground to world-class ballpark

The football pitch has been replaced by a baseball diamond, astro turf outfield and reconfigured stands to give the London Stadium a completely different look.

The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are the latest MLB outfits heading to the capital for two days of blockbuster baseball on June 8 and June 9.

It took 18 days for the impressive transformation to be completed, with MLB granted access on May 20 - just one day after West Ham’s final game of the Premier League season against champions Man CIty.

Over 144,000 square feet of synthetic turf and 345 tonnes of infield clay has been installed on top of West Ham’s football pitch, forming for the outfield, diamond and pitcher’s mound.

But don’t worry Hammers, the hallowed turf is protected by a layer of special flooring to ensure its it good shape for the next campaign.

The entire MLB playing surface was stored after last year’s event - between Chicago Cubs and St Louis Cardinals - to be reused this year.

Two giant 18-metre-tall foul poles have also been installed, as well as batting cages, dugouts and along 46,000 square feet of netting to protect fans behind the foul line from being stuck by errant balls.

The stadium’s baseball clubhouses, which have been a permanent fixture since 2023 and are now included in the stadium tour - have been rebranded in Mets and Phillies livery . They sit on top of the 100m warm up track in the west stand and feature 50 individual player lockers, managers offices, break out areas, TV screens and sofas.

Following the series, the entire field will be removed in just five days, with the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season only ten weeks away.

The food menu across the weekend will also be unrecognisable to West Ham fans.

They’ll be no half-time pies or your run-of-the-mill burgers, fans at the London Stadium will be treated to super-sized offerings of all the American classics.

The Knuckleball burger features two prime beef patties with house-made sauce, cheese, bacon, crispy onions and pulled pork on a brioche bun

New York and Philadelphia are both represented with a NYC deli-style pastrami sandwich and the famous Philly cheesesteak, while burger fans can chow down on double-decked Knuckleball.

The especially hungry can tuck into the two-foot long 'boomstick' hot dog.

Far from your simple wiener in a bun, this baseball bat sized pork behemoth is loaded with braised beef and chilli, topped with jalapenos, nacho cheese and sour cream - and weighs in at a whopping 1.5kg.
