Almost 40 years ago, Safari Ltd® was founded by Alexandre’s grandparents with a stack of Rumi cards and a dream. We’re so pleased to be able to continue what they started and expand their mission of inspiring children around the world!

Alexandre & Christina lead Safari Ltd ® every day with the help of a small team (who are like family). It’s our mission to inspire kiddos to learn about the natural world around us and foster a deep appreciation for Mother Nature through the joy of play.

We pour our hearts into bringing quality educational toys that encourage just that.

From Idea to Creation

Our Toys That Teach ®  start with imagination. We call on artist’s imagination for our fantasy creatures and paleontologists & zoologists for our animal & prehistoric toys. Then, our sculptors & painters help bring that thought to life! It takes a lot of teamwork to make sure we get every detail JUST right! It’s worth a final product we are proud of.

Each product is then manufactured in that model’s likeness and hand painted with delicacy, making no two Safari Ltd® figurines exactly alike.

Museum Quality

At Safari Ltd®, we carefully craft our product for the most perceptive eyes of all, those of a child. Our figurines are as life-like and museum quality as possible, creating a sense of wonderment.

Our Safari Ltd® Dinosaur Toy Collection has been acknowledged by many established professionals and educators in the paleontology field. Teachers have used our dinosaurs as supplements in the classroom citing their remarkable accuracy and detail to the magnificent creatures that once ruled the earth.

In afternoon trade, the  S&P/ASX 200 Index  (ASX: XJO) is on course to start the month with a disappointing decline. At the time of writing, the benchmark index is down 1% to 7,587.7 points.

Four ASX shares that are falling more than most today are listed below. Here's why they are dropping:

Ampol Ltd ( ASX: ALD )

The Ampol share price is down over 3% to $35.60. Investors have been selling this fuel retailer's shares since the release of its first-quarter update on Tuesday. That update revealed a Lytton Refiner Margin (LRM) 21% lower than the prior corresponding period at US$11.80 per barrel. This was short of expectations, with Jefferies forecasting an LRM of US$13.00 per barrel and Morgan Stanley expecting around US$15.00 per barrel. Macquarie remains positive, though. This morning, the broker has retained its outperform rating with a trimmed price target of $40.35. This implies a potential upside of 13% for investors over the next 12 months.

Endeavour Group Ltd ( ASX: EDV )

The Endeavour share price is down almost 4% to $5.15. This follows news that Woolworths Group Ltd ( ASX: WOW ) has agreed to sell 5% of the issued capital of Endeavour Group via a block trade at a price of $5.22 per share. This represents a 2.6% discount to where the Dan Murphy's owner's shares ended yesterday's session. Woolworths will be left owning 4.1% of the drinks giant following this sale. It has committed to retaining its remaining shares for a period of at least 60 calendar days, subject to customary exceptions.

Northern Star Resources Ltd ( ASX: NST )

The Northern Star share price is down almost 4% to $14.37. Investors have been selling Northern Star and other ASX gold mining shares on Wednesday following a sharp pullback in the gold price overnight. Traders were selling the precious metal after bond yields widened. At the time of writing, the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Gold index is down by 3.8%. The good news is that Northern Star shares remain up 20% over the last six months despite today's weakness.

Santos Ltd ( ASX: STO )

The Santos share price is down 2% to $7.54. This has been driven by a pullback in oil prices overnight, which is weighing on a number of energy producers today. According to Bloomberg , the WTI crude oil price was down 1.25% to US$81.60 a barrel and the Brent crude oil price was down 0.6% to US$87.87 a barrel following another round of disappointing inflation and economic data.

WNBA star Brittney Griner contemplated suicide while detained in Russia

WNBA star Brittney Griner revealed Wednesday that she contemplated suicide while jailed in Russia after her arrest on drug charges in 2022.

"I wanted to take my life more than once in the first weeks," Griner said. "I felt like leaving here so badly."

Griner was arrested at an airport in Moscow after Russian authorities found vape cartridges that contained cannabis oil, which is illegal in Russia. She knew her life had changed at that moment.

"My whole heart just fell out of my body," Griner said. "Just this overpowering feeling of like an elevator dropped from underneath my feet. I'm just like, 'My life is over right here.'

"In the midst of them going through my bags, there's two cartridges. And I'm just like, 'Oh, my god, how did I make this mistake?'

"How was I absentminded and made this huge mistake? I could just visualize everything I worked so hard for just crumbling and going away."

Griner, who was in Russia to resume playing for her European team, UMMC Ekaterinburg, was given a nine-year prison sentence.

"I didn't think I could get through what I needed to get through," Griner said. "I definitely thought about (suicide).

"But then, I was just like, what if they didn't release my body to my family? And I was like, 'I can't put them through that. I have to endure this.'"

Griner also detailed the conditions of her cell, saying that at times she felt "less than human."

"When we walk into the cell, there's a bathroom," Griner said. "There's a little rinkity sink that leaks and then just add a layer of dust, dirt, grime, blood stains. Just filth.

"I had a couple of shirts, a couple of pairs of sweats, the shoes on my feet. One of my shirts, I ripped it up and I used one to clean myself. I used one as my toilet paper. With my dirty, dirty hole in the ground with feces all over it.

"That was the moment where I just felt the dirtiest and, like, less than a human."

Griner, 33, was detained for nearly 10 months but was freed in a prison swap that involved Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout in December 2020. But before her release, the Phoenix Mercury star said she was ordered to write a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"They made me write this letter. It was in Russian," she said. "I had to ask for forgiveness and thanks from their so-called great leader. I didn't want to do it, but at the same time I wanted to come home."

Griner played in her first WNBA since the incident on May 19, 2023, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds and four blocks for the Mercury.

Griner, who guided Phoenix to the WNBA title in 2014, played 31 games last season, averaging 17.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists. The eight-time All-Star has averaged 17.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks during her 10-year career.

NEW YORK: Viking Holdings Ltd priced its initial public offering (IPO) near the top of a marketed range to raise US$1.54bil for the luxury cruise operator and two investors, according to people familiar with the matter.

Viking and the investors sold 64.04 million shares for US$24 apiece, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information wasn’t public yet.

Best known for its art and history-rich river tours of Europe, Viking had marketed the shares for US$21 to US$25 each. It increased the number of shares offered by private equity firm TPG Inc and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board at the time of the pricing to 53.04 million, the people said.

The size of the potential over-allotment was also increased to 9.6 million shares, the people said. A representative for TPG declined to comment, while Viking and CPPIB didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

The two investors had already increased the number of shares offering to 42 million ahead of the pricing, while the company had marketed 11 million shares.

At the IPO price, Viking will have a market value of US$10.4bil based on the outstanding shares listed in its filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Viking’s founder, chairman and chief executive officer Torstein Hagen, will continue to control the company with his daughter Karine Hagen, exercising 87% of the company’s voting power.

TPG and CPPIB will each control 4.5% of votes.

Founded in 1997, Viking operates cruises around the world and has 92 vessels, according to the filing. It has more than 10,000 employees in over 90 countries.

While the company has expanded beyond its original tours of rivers such as the Danube and the Rhine, it continues to cater to older, wealthier travellers seeking “more than just a vacation”, Torstein said in the company’s prospectus.

“We maintain a clear focus on our most relevant customer group – English-speaking travellers aged 55 and over, who have the time, money and desire to explore the world,” Torstein wrote.

“We do not try to be all things to all people, which is why we only offer a single-language experience on board our ships – there are no casinos and children under 18 are not allowed.”

Viking is the second-biggest consumer-oriented company to go public on a US exchange this year, after the US$1.57bil listing by Amer Sports Inc in January.

Since then, an assortment of tech, health-related and industrial businesses have held IPOs, raising more than US$13bil, not including Viking.

Bermuda-based Viking is joining its publicly traded peers Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, Carnival Corp and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd Royal Caribbean, the largest of them with a market value of about US$37bil, is the only one of the three whose shares have climbed back to where they started before the pandemic.

In 2022, Viking reported a profit of US$399mil on US$3.2bil of revenue, which rose sharply compared to the previous two years as the pandemic ebbed.

Last year, the company lost US$1.8bil as revenue grew to US$4.7bil.

The filings showed adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciations and amortisation of US$1.09bil for 2023, which included a gain of about US$2bil from the re-measurement of derivatives associated with preference shares that will convert with the IPO.

Viking’s offering is being led by Bank of America Corp, JPMorgan Chase & Co, UBS Group AG and Wells Fargo & Co.

Astronomers say this year will be the best to view the Northern Lights in more than two decades thanks to the sun reaching solar maximum – when the star’s activity is at its greatest.
