One of the most critical urban Mexican acts of the moment, Fuerza Regida, one of the most popular critically-acclaimed Mexican artists, today announced his highly-anticipated  “Otra Peda Tour”  which will bring the urban Mexican star to new cities and iconic venues.

Fuerza Regida and Live Nation are continuing their tour production partnership, bringing a new 18-city “Otra Peda Tour” that kicks off on July 15th at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, making stops across the U.S. in San Jose, CA, Fresno, CA, Hidalgo, TX, and more before wrapping up in Anaheim, CA, at Honda Center on November 25th.

“Fuerza Regida has been a huge example of this new movement’s power globally,” said Jorge Garcia, Global Touring Promoter, Live Nation. “It has been an honor to see their rapid growth from arena to stadium shows as a trusted partner.”

Kicking off 2023 with its first #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, “Bebe Dame” alongside Grupo Frontera, the month of March quickly proved to be one of the most significant months in Fuerza Regida’s already outstanding career. Most notably, the band accomplished an impressive feat, selling out the inaugural date of the “Otra Peda Tour” at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles (previously known as Banc of California Stadium), which is unquestionably a career-defining moment for the group, as it marks the first time that Fuerza Regida will perform live in a stadium.

In addition to the news that it sold out its first stadium show, the band also released 10 new music videos in March, including the hits “Dijeron Que No La Iba a Lograr” and “Que Se Te Quito”. Together these 10 clips have accumulated more than 50 million streams on YouTube, proving once again that this California-based group is one of the most popular and in-demand Latin music acts on the market today. Furthermore, the month brought other exciting news with the announcement of six new Latin American Music Award nominations, including Best Regional Mexican Duo or Group, Song of the Year for “Bebe Dame” with Grupo Frontera, and Best Regional Mexican Album for the massively successful project “Del Barrio Hasta Aquí, Vol 2.”

All these incredible new milestones succeed a remarkable 2022, a year during which the band realized the extraordinary 19-date “Del Barrio Hasta Aquí” tour, 12 of which were sold out within days of being announced, in addition to releasing 22 singles and two new albums, “Pa Que Hablen” and “Sigan Hablando,” which have garnered more than 517 million streams to date on Spotify alone.

In the 2023 year-end charts , Fuerza Regida made  Billboard  history by becoming the first  Latin  band to be No. 1 on the  Top Artists – Duo/Group  list, followed by Grupo Frontera and Fleetwood Mac. (Previous No. 1 artists on the list have included Destiny’s Child, Green Day, The Black Eyed Peas, One Direction, Jonas Brothers and BTS.) The group also won at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards for Top Duo/Group and Top Latin Duo/Group.

“I’m speechless, really. Coming from where we come from, not many people get out [of the hood], whether they get out alive, are dead, or go to jail,” frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz told Billboard Español in December. “I just have to say that I am grateful to God, and to all my family, my mom, my dad, and all my friends. If it wasn’t for everyone’s help, and also the fans, we wouldn’t be here. Fuerza Regida and I are in charge of continuing to give [fans] great music and, God willing, I will continue to give until the last straw.”

The U.S. dates are produced by Live Nation. General on sale tickets will be available beginning on Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. local time at  livenation.com .

Fuerza Regida at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Fuerza Regida is a urban-regional Mexican band hailing from San Bernardino, California. The group comprises singer Jose Ortiz Paz, tuba player Jose Garcia, requinto player Samuel Jaimez, guitarist Khrystian Ramos, and tololoche player Moises Lopez. Fuerza Regida originally formed as a cover band in East Los Angeles in 2015.

Last year, the band released their latest album, Sigan Hablando. The record spawned the mega-hit “Bebe Dame” with the popular Mexican band Grupo Frontera. The collaboration song served as Fuerza Regida’s debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 91. The single, released via Street Sony Music Latin, has clocked in over 7.1 million streams in the U.S. Moreover, the song was purchased over 1,000 times. In its second week, the song soared from number 19 to 5 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. Fuerza Regida’s viral success can be credited to their rising popularity on Tiktok, wherein the song has been used on videos 74,000 times.

The band has been a regular on Billboard’s Latin charts for the past five years. Fuerza Regida has 14 entries, including the monster 2018 single “Radicamo En South Central” on Hot Latin Songs. During an interview, Ortiz Paz mentioned that the single opened many doors for the band. The single led to Legado 7’s Ramon Ruiz discovering the band and signing them to two labels, Music Lumbre, and Rancho Humilde.

Fuerza Regida currently represents a new generation of Mexican musicians. The band pulls influences from various genres and artists, such as Hijos de Barron, Adriel Camcho, and the American heavy metal band Metallica. The band writes lyrics about Mexican culture, street life, love, and many other things. This music style is best showcased by the singles “Malos Pasos” and “Sigo Chambeando.” During an interview with Billboard, guitarist Ramos added that the band performs regional Mexican and urban music but doesn’t want listeners to put them in a box. “We don’t want people to think that we play a specific type of genre. We want people to know that Fuerza Regida is capable of much more.”

Catch Fuerza Regida this fall by scoring tickets to their highly-anticipated show at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre!

This is not a drill: Fuerza Regida is going on tour! On April 18, the regional Mexican music group announced their upcoming 18-city “Otra Peda Tour,” and fans can’t wait to see them perform live.

“OTRA PEDA TOUR 2023 🇺🇸🍻 TICKETS ON SALE 4/20,” the band announced on their Instagram.

The freshly unveiled “Otra Peda Tour” will kick off at the sold-out BMO Stadium show in Los Angeles, CA, on July 15. It will span major cities like San Jose, Houston, El Paso, Atlanta, Chicago, and Portland. The tour will also make its way to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Palm Desert before wrapping up at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, on Nov. 25.

Fans are thrilled about the upcoming tour news. A Twitter user wrote: “manifesting I get floor seats for fuerza regida on Thursday😤😤😤😤.” Another Twitter user echoed the same feeling: “Fuerza regida this year is a must ‼️” Moreover, to help promote the tour, the group also threw a yacht party with social media influencers .

It goes without saying that 2023 has already been a huge year for Fuerza Regida. Last Fri. (April 14), the band’s frontman Jesús “JOP” Ortiz Paz joined Becky G on her Coachella performance . The two sang their recent collaboration “Te Quiero Besar.” After the duo’s moment, Ortiz Paz also sang the band’s track “Bebe Dame,” one of their current hits with Grupo Frontera.

Earlier this year, when they announced their initial BMO Stadium date (July 15), the Mexican-American group also received their own L.A. date. “Some young kids from the hood, having their own day–their own holiday in L.A. We’re happy,” Ortiz Paz told Remezcla at the time. “[And] don’t miss out July 15. We’re going to sell out this stadium!” Which we know now that they did.

General tickets go on sale April 20 at 4:20 p.m. local time through Ticketmaster’s official website .

“Aye, who’s dog is that?”

It was an important question posed by a woman waiting at a crosswalk outside BMO Stadium on Saturday night. In a sea of people rocking skirts the size of dinner napkins and gold chains that could haul a broken-down Escalade, there was a lone German shepard wandering the street. Was it searching for its owner or, like the hundreds of people it was trotting past, waiting to descend into the maximum pura peda ensuing inside L.A. Football Club’s home turf, where Mexican banda Fuerza Regida was getting ready to perform?

Música regional Mexicana has exploded in popularity the last few years — Peso Pluma, Grupo Frontera, Natanael Cano and Eslabón Armado (the latter was playing the same night at Crypto.com Arena) have been blowing up the airwaves, music streamers and TikTok.

Fuerza Regida is right there with them. Later that night, during the band’s set, Fuerza Regida’s electrifying frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz, known as JOP, would look out into the crowd and boldly let it be known who’s running things. “Los Mexicanos ahorita somos número uno,” he proclaimed. “Now, we poppin’ in this mother f—!”

July 16, 2023

The concert was part of Fuerza Regida’s Otra Peda tour, so the requirement to get at least nominally tore up seemed pretty clearly stated. Naturally, pre-gaming was a must for many concertgoers, including Hector Aguilar.

“Aye, who wants to finish this?” he hollered at the crowd by the gate. The 27-year-old foreman held up the last remnants of a bottle of Don Julio. Aguilar and his friends were eager to get inside and continue pouring gas on the good time, but the bottle remained unfinished.

“Pour it down,” I said. And that’s how a generous shot of tequila landed in my bra. “Pour it in her mouth, not in her clothes,” shouted a woman in their group, but it was too late. I’d be stinking for the rest of the night.

A man sings into a microphone.

Lucy Mendez, a dental assistant, has been a fan for years. There was no way she was going to miss the concert.

“My tickets, I got them since they first came out,” she said. “I wasn’t gonna be like, ‘Oh, it’s sold out and I didn’t get a ticket.’ No. I got my tickets set.”

She had no idea Eslabón Armado was playing that night too. “I would’ve loved for Eslabón to be here with them,” she said.

The stadium was packed and humming with energy. Arch support was nonexistent as the girlies strutted and swiveled in heels so high their feet looked like the Leaning Tower of Paisa. I looked upon those buchonas in their body-con dresses, crystal-encrusted cowboy boots, strappy heels and sparkly stilettos with admiration. I’ve squeezed myself into enough shapewear and platforms to know that discomfort will morph into throbbing pain. Until then, they were looking hot and ready to dance the moment Fuerza Regida hit the stage.

Erika H., a 30-year-old event planner, was at the show with her partner, Jose, or HomicideZ06, as he said he’s known. “It’s not as bad as it sounds,” the self-described real estate mogul and Lamborghini fanatic (he owns two) assured me.

Erika, who had squeezed into a skin-tight black dress with multiple cutouts across the chest, was “just here to have a good time, go out, leave the kids at home, maybe go backstage for a little bit.”

“Now he’s getting so big,” HomicideZ06 said of JOP. “Before, we were able to get onstage. I don’t know about now. But we’re here to support. We’ve seen his journey, and it’s been so sick. We love his music. We just want to keep being a part of it.”

Happy Fuerza Regida fans at BMO Stadium.

That journey is definitely part of JOP’s appeal. Six years ago, he was a barber in South Central — until he auditioned to play bass for the already-formed group, which had a small hit with a cover of Chayín Rubio’s “Uno Personal.” Band members asked him to sing, and after dropping a few bars, he landed the main gig. The rest, as they say, is history. That history, in fact, was shown on the big screen in a video montage before the band hit the stage.

Vanessa Estrada traveled from Bakersfield to see the band with her boyfriend, David Gonzalez, for their nine-month anniversary. It’s what she wanted.

”She kept bugging me,” laughed Gonzalez. “Like, ‘Babe, babe, let’s go.’” In truth, Fuerza Regida is their favorite group.

"Punk rockers" mosh during the Reckling performance at the Radical stage during Viva Pomona musical event at the Glass House Concert Hall in Pomona on Saturday, July 15, 2023.

Mosh pits, puppets and screaming fans: Scenes from the Viva Pomona music festival

Headlined by El Monte’s Red Pears, the first day of the Viva Pomona festival at the Glass House featured marionette puppets, Latinx acts spanning multiple genres and a group of eclectic, fashionable fans.

“They’re from L.A., but not only that, they’re very humble,” said Estrada. “You can relate to them, you know. They got money, but they relate to the people.”

Throughout the concert, JOP himself marveled at where his life is now. “No me la creo, la neta,” he said into the mic. It’s that history that speaks to many of his fans, who were there ready to party alongside JOP. “We’re here to get f— up,” said Gonzalez, who was already six drinks in before the band even started. Estrada was at four.

As soon as the opening notes blared, fans ran toward their seats. The iPhones came out and didn’t see the inside of a pocket or purse for three hours. Dudes began to livestream as women filmed themselves singing along with their squad. Couples were pressed tightly against each other while dancing to “Lo Estoy Pensando.”

As the music, flames and fireworks continued to fill the smoke-thickened night sky, the heels began to come off. By 10:45 p.m., the vibe had fully shifted into peda mode. A barefoot woman was grinding against her man in front of the rotisserie chicken stand, and I was asked to dance by an extremely drunk dude named Jesus, who informed me that I was a “good girl.”

A Fuerza Regida fan represents her city at BMO Stadium.

The thing about being Mexican is that you grow an intuitive sense for when things are about to descend into chaos. You party at enough baptisms that go until 4 a.m. and you learn to see the signs. As soon as I saw men in Versace satin shirts being held back by their friends and girlfriends, I knew it was time. I walked out of the stadium to shirtless guys and their shoeless dates, to the savory smell of hot dogs grilling on a cart, just missing the fights that did, in fact, go down .

Later that night, JOP, Chino Pacas and members of the Calle 24 band were briefly detained outside an after-party in Hollywood. Videos of the incident spread across TikTok and Instagram, but even so, it didn’t sour the night.

The fights are probably now stories that will be told for years. Just another night, another peda.
