The Nevada 511 app provides near real-time highway and traffic information to drivers to help them safely plan their route. This includes information on construction, incidents, road closures, and weather alerts on roads across the state. This app features a scrollable, zoomable map that displays: • Traffic speeds • Road Conditions • Incidents and closures, such as collisions and other road hazards • Cameras • Construction • Road Closures • Weather alerts • Weather Stations • Weather Radar • Rest Areas and Welcome Centers The app also features audio alerts that notify drivers of incidents, construction, road closures, and other road events.

Ratings and Reviews
Video doesn’t work.
App is useless for road camera video, they simply won’t load. You’ll get a still image and that’s it, if you get any image at all. You can get the same features on the web site version - at least some of that video works, but not all the time. Don’t rely on the app or the web version to be very reliable for road conditions video.
Fabulous App!
This app is fantastic! I travel extensively over the “hump to Pahrump”, and having real-time conditions is invaluable. Twice, I took the long way around because your app showed me it would be the safest way to get to Las Vegas. The live camera feeds have also all worked flawlessly. Thank you!
Cameras are always out of order
This app could be extremely useful but half the cameras along hwy80 don’t work, not even a still picture. I check cameras at 9am and the camera is showing a night time picture, so I don’t know if any of them are accurate. I really wish it could be fixed cuz I’d live to use this app.

NDOT launches revamped 511 Nevada Travel Info system
On Oct. 13, the Nevada Department of Transportation launched an enhanced 511 NV Travel Information system to provide improved Nevada highway information.
First launched in 2007, the 511 Nevada Travel Info service will continue to allow motorists to dial 511 tollfree or log onto nvroads.com any time for up-to-the-minute state road conditions, online traffic cameras, roadway weather information, scheduled event road closures, highway construction updates and more.
The Nevada 511 app can also be downloaded via the Apple or Google store. Upgrades as part of the improved system include: • Upgraded route planner allows users to easily type in a starting and end location to see conditions and incidents on the drive ahead • Enhanced base map layer offers improved navigation • New user-friendly mobile app, available under name of Nevada 511, includes drive mode which, for safety, limits the use of the app to audio alerts while driving • Dedicated trucker mode highlighting truck-specific information, such as truck parking • As a cloud-based platform, the new system will offer additional capacity to handle higher call and log-in volumes, particularly during weather and other high usages • Improved “My 511” route planner allows users to create free, customized routes and e-mail or push notification alerts for their most frequently-traveled routes, as well as set preferred map and traffic camera views. To sign up, users simply log onto nvroads.com, select the “Sign Up” link, and register to receive customized reports for state roads of their choice. The alerts are free. Users currently receiving alerts through the existing 511 system will need to log onto nvroads.com to sign up for alerts through the new system.
“There have been more than 13 million visits for updated highway conditions and information in just the past nine years,” NDOT Director Kristina Swallow explained. “Now, the upgraded system’s easier navigation and enhanced features will help make trip planning even smoother for the many who rely on the 511 system to plan their Nevada freeway travel.”
With Nevada law prohibiting the use of handheld devices while behind the wheel, NDOT reminds motorists to dial or log on before driving.

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada Department of Transportation is unveiling a revamped version of its 511 travel info system.
The launch of the new and improved system will happen on Thursday, officially.
Upgrades to the system include:
• Upgraded route planner allows users to easily type in a starting and end location to see conditions and incidents on the drive ahead
• Enhanced base map layer offers improved navigation
• New user-friendly mobile app, available under name of Nevada 511, includes drive mode which, for safety, limits use of app to audio alerts while driving
• Dedicated trucker mode highlighting truck-specific information, such as truck parking
• As a cloud-based platform, the new system will offer additional capacity to handle higher call and log in volumes, particularly during weather and other high usage
• Improved “My 511″ route planner allows users to create free, customized routes and e-mail or push notification alerts for their most frequently-traveled routes, as well as set preferred map and traffic camera views.

NDOT reminds drivers to use 511 NV travel info; update to Nevada 511 App
CARSON CITY — As snowstorms transition into upcoming rain storms and summer road construction season, the Nevada Department of Transportation reminds motorists to continue to use 511 NV Travel Info for highway conditions and construction information.
This winter, more than three million visits have been made to the system for up-to-the-minute highway conditions. NDOT hopes motorists will continue to log onto nvroads.com or dial 511 toll-free for up-to-the-minute state road conditions, on-line traffic cameras, roadway weather information, scheduled event road closures, highway construction updates and more.
The Nevada 511 app can also be downloaded via the Apple or Google store. The app includes drive mode which, for safety, limits use of app to audio alerts while driving
NDOT recommends the following ‘spring cleaning’ to ensure users continue to receive the most updated highway information:
Update to Nevada 511 App The new Nevada 511 app was launched last fall, but some users still have the older NV Roads app downloaded. While the previous app is redirected to provide updated highway information, those who have the NV Roads app should remove that app and upload the newer Nevada 511 app to ensure that they continue to receive the most recent highway updates and uninterrupted access to traffic cameras.
Update Traffic Alerts For years, users have been able to sign up for free, customized e-mail or push notification alerts for their most frequently-traveled state routes, as well as set preferred map and traffic camera views. Those who have not signed up in the past year for these traffic alerts should log onto nvroads.com, select the “Sign Up” link and register to receive new customized reports for state roads of their choice.

Signing up with Nevada 511
- Creating an account is NOT mandatory on this website; however if you do, you’ll be able to personalize your experience and receive traffic notifications.
- Select ‘Sign Up’ from the menu options in the top right corner
- Enter your name, email, and create a password. Click ‘Sign Up' when done.
- You will get an email to verify your account, click the link that was sent to your email.
- Including a phone number will allow you to receive text notifications, you will receive an SMS (text) with your confirmation code. Note this is in addition to the email verification.
Creating & Saving a Customized Route
- Enter your start and end locations by typing the addresses into the address fields. Alternatively, you may also right click on the map. Once you have entered the route locations, click ‘Drive’.
- Review the routes generated and select the one that suits you best.
- When done, enter a name for your route and click ‘Save’.
Creating a Notification for your Route
- Once your route is saved, you will be asked if you want to be notified of events on this route. Click ‘Create Route Notification’
- You will be redirected to the notification creation page. Enter the required information for your route, select a delivery option (email or SMS), and click ‘Save’.
- You will now be notified of any future events that affect your route.
- Enter your start and end locations by typing the addresses into the address fields. Alternatively, you may also right click on the map, select a location from the available options, and select whether the location will be the start or end of your trip. Once you have entered the route locations, click ‘Drive’.
- In the Manage My Routes table, find the route that you previously saved that you would like to create a Notification for and click ‘ Create Route Notification ’.
- You will be redirected to the notification creation page. Enter the required information for your route, select a delivery option (email or SMS), and click ‘ Save ’.
