How it Works

The action of heat: dilates blood vessels, causing more blood to circulate near the surface of your skin. This action bathes cells in oxygen-rich blood and allows a small amount of toxins to be released through the skin. The action of cold: constricts your capillaries, and shunts the blood to the core. It is here that the majority of toxins are removed as the blood filters through the internal organs. The blood is then replenished with fresh oxygen and pumped back to the rest of the body to begin the ongoing cycle. The process of stimulating the circulatory system with hot and cold, detoxifies and bathes your cells in fresh oxygen-rich blood; bringing youthfulness to your mind and body.

Water Journey

The water journey was great. We’ve done this out in California (which was a bit better due to being outside). The issue with the bodhi Water Journey is that there are three pools and there were 12 people in at the time we were there. The pools are very small and get crowded. They either need more pools or take in less people at a given time. When we arrived, we were told the steam room was out of service. This was the main reason we went due to my boyfriend having really bad allergies and stuffed sinuses all the time. He told me that’s what made it amazing in California so I was hoping for the same experience. We weren’t told the steam room was out of service until after we checked in. I would’ve much rather the spa call and let us know ahead of time that way we could have rebooked a time when it would be working. Since the steam room wasn’t in service I did not feel as relaxed and get as much toxins released as I did before in California.

I’ve been to the Bodhi Spa few times while visiting Newport, and this time did the water journey with my sister-in-law who was there for the first time. She’s a massage therapist who worked on Maui for years and she said her massage from Bill was one of the best. I had a massage with Bill, too, and we floated through the rest of our trip. Thanks so much Bodhi crew! Could you please open a branch in Seattle? We need you.

This was my second time at the spa with my sisters and it exceeded my expectations once again. Super friendly and helpful staff, a comfortable tranquil experience in a beautiful, clean spa. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Unfortunately the water journey in not mineral pools it is overly chlorinated pools of water. It is hard to feel peaceful or tranquil when your eyes are burning for excessive amounts of chlorine, it was so bad that the people I went with had their eyes stinging and could smell nothing but chlorine for hours after leaving the “ water journey “. On the upside the steam room was nice but nothing you could not get at a good fitness center for free.

We do keep the minimum amount of chlorine required by the state in our pools but we do test our pools several times daily to ensure we never have a spike in chlorine. I did look through our log books and there were no times we were out of the required range. I’m very sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience and we’d be happy to share our testing results for the date you visited. With Peace,

Just visited Bodhi Spa to enjoy the Water Journey for the third time. I have been with a group, as a couple, and most recently with another couple. The room is very clean, dim, and music plays. The room is encouraged to be quiet, but it would be nice if some sessions were designated as talking volume. I have been when everyone in the room is interested in being social with their parties and I have been when everyone is very quiet. Stay hydrated at the water station and in the warmer weather, relax outside for some fresh air! You settle up on your way out, so don't forget to pay (I have seen this happen). All you need to bring is a bathing suit! Lockers, robes, sandals, showers, shampoo/conditioner/lotion provided.

I went to the Bodhi Spa for a facial after receiving a gift card for my birthday. The Advanced Age Defying Facial was fabulous. My face and neck felt so wonderful and revived after my treatment. The treatment was comforting and relaxing. My hands haven't felt that soft in a long time. The staff were fantastic. Next trip I plan on adding the Water Journey. I liked the fact that staff did not try to force sell the products to you like most spas do. It was a relaxing journey for me and can't wait to go again!
