Tour Overview

Nageshwar Temple

Located in the heart of the great state of Gujarat is the city of Dwarka (in the Jamnagar District). Revered as one of the more significant destinations on the Chardham Circuit and a gem among the Saptapuris – the seven sacred cities in Hinduism – its history is interwoven with tales of divine legends and ancient splendors. After all, this is the place where Lord Krishna established his golden city – Swarna Dwarka.

In these modern times, pilgrims and travelers converge on this city, drawn by its sacred aura and the legacy of Dwarka Naresh – another name bestowed upon Lord Krishna, the celebrated founder of this city. The unique location of this city, nestled on the pristine western coast of the Okhamandal Peninsula, invites travelers from around the world to embark on a journey of discovery. After taking a suitable rest from your travels, you can start your experience by visiting sacred landmarks like Bet Dwarka, Rukmini Mandir, and the ethereal Nageshwar Jyotirlingam, among others.

And when it comes to the heart and soul of this place, there is no question about what it is. The majestic Dwarkadheesh temple, dedicated to the Lord Krishna, is the center of this place. This temple was crafted by Vajranabha, grandson of the Lord Krishna, and is an epitome of architectural brilliance. Visitors can immerse themselves in the centuries-old traditions and rituals that are still followed at this place, admire the intricacies of its design, and more. Beyond the temple, you will find a serene pathway of 56 steps from the Swarga Dwar that will gently lead you to the calming embrace of the Gomati River.

There is also the Gomti Sangam Ghat for you to visit. It is the perfect place to visit for those seeking deeper spiritual immersion. This is where the Gomti River mingles with the vast sea, offering an opportunity to devotees for a soul-cleansing dip that will purify their souls. Along the river's edge, you will also see ghats that are just waiting for you to explore them. Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore the gamed Chakratirtha Ghat – distinguished for its white stone chakra. If you are traveling here, it would be not surprising if you find yourself drawn to the tranquil of Gomti Kund and the numerous intimate shrines that can be found here.

Now, as the day winds down, we would encourage you to take a stroll through the ghats. There is a unique magic in taking a magic boat ride over the placid Gomati. If you are one of the many who are enjoying a ride on river Gomti, you will be mesmerized by the view of Dwarka's skyline.

Dwarka is an important halt on the Krishna pilgrim trail, that includes the temples at Mathura, Vrindavan, Nathdwara , Udupi , and Guruvayoor, among others.

The Dwarkadhish temple is a temple dedicated to Krishna who was the king of ancient Dwarka in the Dwapara Yuga. Apart from the main temple to Krishna, there are smaller temples to Radha, Rukmini, Vasudev, Devaki, Jambavati, Satyabhama , Lakshmi, and many others.

The beautiful Krishna temple of Dwarka is believed to be more than 2,000 years old. The original temple is believed to have been built by Krishna’s great-grandson, Vajranabha . The temple is located on the banks of the Gomti River. It is built in the Nagara style of architecture and has exquisite carvings on its 7-storeyed Shikhara.

The temple is one of the must-visit places in Dwarka, not only for the religious and spiritual-minded, but also those interested in architecture and history. Rukmini Devi Temple Dwarka

Rukmini Devi was Krishna’s consort and the queen of Dwarka. Rukmini is considered to be the incarnation of Lakshmi in the Dwapara Yuga. Just as Lord Vishnu and the Goddess Lakshmi incarnated as Rama and Seeta in the Treta Yuga, they incarnated as Krishna and Rukmini in the Dwapara Yuga.

The Rukmini temple in Dwarka is a beautiful temple with lovely carvings and is located about 2 kilometers from the Shri Dwarkadhish temple. Legend has it, that once Sage Durvasa was invited by Rukmini and Krishna to their home. The sage agreed, with a condition. The couple agreed and started pulling the chariot. En route to the royal palace, Rukmini felt an unquenchable thirst. Krishna moved by her plight, using his supernatural powers, materialized the water from the Ganga for her to quench her thirst. She drank the water without a second thought, without even offering it to Sage Durvasa. That is the very spot on which the Rukmini Devi temple stands.

The hotel wasn’t able to provide us any assistance in traveling to all the must visit places when visiting Dwarka. Luckily we saw that Shree Bhagwati Travels is the best tour wala for exploring Somnath and Dwarka. We had the best luck that Fanil Bhai of Shree Bhagwati Travels was in town and made time for us to come to our hotel and schedule our tour together. He surprised us with the fact that he joined us as a travel buddy during our whole tour in Dwarka. We are very blessed that we have experienced the Dwarka tour with Fanil bhai. He is a pro in this branch of tourism. Knows very much about the history of our beautiful hindu religion. He is also setting up other tours based from Bengaluru. Will contact him again for my next South trip. Thanks for the very special stay in Dwarka. Jai Dwarkadhish 🙏🏾 Read more Written 19 November 2023
