Traveler Reviews

This trip was fantastic. It should have way more 5 star reviews!!! It was so well organised from the minute we were picked up. We arrived and we’re on the boat within 15 minutes. The snorkelling was fantastic and the stop in the sea was so much fun. The best bit was the cenote, the water was so refreshing and the place is stunning! The staff are brilliant, very attentive and friendly. You can tell they love their jobs! Thanks for a great day!

Beautiful snorkeling, fun tour guides and incredible sightseeing! I'd definitely recommend this tour to other travelers.

10/10 recommend. We had an amazing tour guide and experience. We did not see many sea creatures but the water was gorgeous, we did see fishes, and the tour guide Willie was so fun!

Great time today. Fun. Guides were great. This was a great trip. Let me stop now instead of forcing me to write more please.

Take your sun screen, the staff is very friendly and they make sure you have a good time, it is well worth going

This tour was so fun! The lagoon was incredible, could’ve stayed all day. Not much to see snorkeling that day but the catamaran cruise and swimming area was a blast. We were celebrating a wedding and the guides made sure we had an awesome time.

The crew was on point. Never an empty drink on the boat. Would have liked to snorkel a bit longer. But you can’t start drinking til after the snorkeling, so I get it. The lagoon was so beautiful and perfect. Could have used one or two more cocktails at the lagoon though. Chat up the strangers in your group!

Great trip overall. Lasted about 6 hours from pickup to dropoff. Be prepared to have a longer bus ride (~60-80mins) depending on how many other people they are picking up before you arrive at the marina. Also be sure to eat a good breakfast because snacks won't be handed out until after your snorkeling session. The water was a bit cloudy where we snorkeled but we were able to see some fish and lots of coral. The staff were lovely and very enthusiastic. Be ready for singing and dancing on the boat! Very family friendly excursion--highly recommend!

Catamaran, sandbars and lagoon were amazing! We chose not to snorkel because the surf was too rough but others did. The guide and crew were very friendly and fun. It did take a long time to get there and get going but all in all great excursion. Definitely recommend!

We were a group of 6 adults. Each one of us had an amazing and relaxing time. The employee's were great and kept everyone happy and having a good time! I would say more of an excursion for adults to enjoy.

Unforgettable Private Nature Tours of the Dominican Republic

Limon Beach and Lagoon Tour from Punta Cana

punta cana lagoon tour

Our Limon Beach and Lagoon Tour from Punta Cana takes you way off the beaten path to a virgin beach and coastal lagoon in one of the most unspoiled areas in the Dominican Republic. Limon Lagoon is a diamond in the rough located near the mountains of the northeastern Dominican Republic, one of the most beautiful areas of the country, and near the town of Miches, an area which very few tourists visit. The beach here is postcard like and is fortunately never covered in seaweed, like other beaches in the region can be in the summer months.

A lush area scarcely populated mainly by fishermen and farmers, the area of Miches is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. We begin with a boat ride exploring the calm waters and shoreline of the Limón Lagoon Nature Preserve, the largest fresh water lake in all the Caribbean. This is truly a place that exemplifies the immense beauty of the region. The lagoon is one of the best places on the island to see water birds and in the winter months the presence of migratory birds, including thousands of ducks, is spectacular. This serene body of water is also home to a diverse population of fish, which sustain the economy of many of the area’s local villages. A relaxing boat ride around the lake allows us to appreciate the flora, fauna, and awesome scenery found here. The lake seems to be perfectly nestled between the coast and the “Oriental” Mountain Range, almost as if purposely put there.

Next we take a short car ride to Limón Beach,  a vast expanse of gorgeous virgin coastline, with only palm trees lining the beach as far as the eye can see. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all and totally disconnect from civilization. Here you will be able to just relax for a few hours, explore a bit if you like, and swim in the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Next we enjoy a delicious typical Dominican style lunch prepared by women from the nearby community at a small local restaurant, followed up by fresh local fruit, and warm cups of local coffee. All according to real Dominican traditions which always makes for a memorable authentic experience. All of this makes for a truly special tour, and one that we highly recommend for all nature lover’s looking to get away from the crowds for a while.

07 Jun The Bávaro Lagoon, a Natural Paradise in Punta Cana

The bávaro lagoon, a natural paradise in punta cana.

Even if you have already visited the Dominican Republic several times, you’ll find that the country still has ways of surprising you with unique destinations for every time you visit.

Did you know that Punta Cana has an incredible lagoon with incredible natural scenery? Today we’re going to talk about the Bávaro Lagoon.

Where is the Bávaro Lagoon located?

As the name suggests, the Bávaro Lagoon is very close to Playa Bávaro so, if you stay in this area, you can take a day trip to visit the lagoon for a few hours. However, and despite the fact that it is very close to the coast, it’s not possible to reach it on foot, but rather you have to take a short car ride, either driving yourself or taking a taxi. The journey is approximately 15 kilometres, depending on where you are in Playa Bávaro, and it will take you approximately 25 minutes to reach the area of Cabeza de Toro, where access to the Bávaro Lagoon is located.

It is also possible to get here from other parts of Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic in general, but you have to bear in mind that you’ll need more time and you may end up spending a whole day between the journey and the time you spend exploring it.

What will you find at the Bávaro Lagoon?

The Bávaro Lagoon is a protected natural area whose landscapes will be the highlight of your holidays in the Dominican Republic.

This area is home to a very special biodiversity, as it is a place frequented by birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish, in addition to the fact that we can find more than 200 plant species. As you can imagine, many of these species are endemic , which makes the lagoon even more special in terms of the life you can find here.

As you may be imagining, the Bávaro Lagoon has an area with mangroves, which you can enjoy while taking one of the most authentic nature photos in Punta Cana.

Right when you arrive, you’ll find nature in its wildest state, with hardly any signs of human activity. Lush plants, prominent vegetation and all the charm of being out in the middle of nature.

You’ll see that its waters are not as clear as those of Playa Bávaro, for example. The lagoon is surrounded by vegetation and animal life, which make the water less transparent, typical of this kind of place. It also has a greenish tone that can even tend to appear brown at certain times of the year.

Activities at the Bávaro Lagoon

The Bávaro Lagoon, in the Dominican Republic, offers endless activities that you can enjoy when you visit it. Many of these activities have to do with nature and are focused on what is referred to as ecotourism , a type of alternative tourism in which activities are carried out that allow you to enjoy the natural environment with a certain amount of exclusivity.

Bird watching, for example, is one of the most highly valued and enjoyed activities, both by visitors and by Dominicans themselves who decide to come with their families or friends to see this incredible lagoon. This bird watching activity will be the highlight for those who love this type of tourism as you can enjoy seeing more than 86 species of birds, of which 8 are endemic. You will be able to find “yaguacines”, pelicans, seagulls… It’s important to keep in mind that you won’t be able to see them all, because many can only be found at certain times of the day or in very specific seasons. What is certain is that you’ll take back an incredible memory of the Bávaro Lagoon and the Dominican Republic.

Another of the activities that stands out in this area is kayaking, which will allow you to explore the lagoon and all of the treasures it contains up close. As you navigate through its waters, you’ll discover different settings, each with its own plants and wildlife. If this activity seems interesting to you, it’s important for you to know that one of the best times to do it is at sunset when the last rays of sun fall on the lagoon, creating the most captivating colours. Doesn’t that sound just divine?

In addition to bird watching and kayaking, you can find other options such as hiking, scenic sailing and sport fishing.

You can book all these activities at the entrance to the Bávaro Lagoon from Cabeza de Toro, where you’ll also find shops with high-quality handcrafted products and restaurants where you can enjoy the area’s gastronomy.

Some recommendations for visiting the Bávaro Lagoon

As we’ve indicated, the Bávaro Lagoon is a place where both locals and visitors go, so it’ll come as no surprise that the best time to visit is early on in the day to be able to enjoy it even more.

It’s also important to emphasise the fact that the visit will likely take hours, so don’t forget to wear sun protection to protect your skin from any sun damage.

Remember that the area around the Bávaro Lagoon also has lots of untouched nature, so it’s best to wear closed shoes to be able to walk around more comfortably, instead of wearing flip flops.

What do you think of the option of exploring the Bávaro Lagoon on your next holiday? Were you already familiar with this incredible destination in the Dominican Republic?

Scape Park Punta Cana review – a tropical theme park with zipline and blue lagoon in Punta Cana

Scape Park Punta Cana is one of the most exciting theme parks in Punta Cana. The great thing: with a Scape Park ticket for the full day you have access to all of those attractions. If it is worth visiting this unique place in the Dominican Republic and how you can find the best prices you can read in our extensive Scape Park Punta Cana review, as we have visited the park already twice.

Rest of the attractions: Iguanaland, El Rancho, Monkey Island

Scape Park and its Blue Lagoon are part of the most exciting attractions in the area. To check out more amazing things to do in Punta Cana, continue reading here . If you only would like to visit the Blue Lagoon, continue reading this comprehensive article about Hoyo Azul . Completely UPDATED: July 2022

Quick overview: get your Scape Park ticket now

If you’ve just come here to find the best way to book your Scape Park Punta Cana ticket, this quick section helps you. You simply can book your Scape Park & Hoyo Azul ticket for the best price here * or by clicking on the button below in this comprehensive comparison table, where you can see the different types of tickets.

However, it is worth to read this Scape Park review as we’ve compiled so many tips which makes your vist at Scape Park Punta Cana much better and will help you having an unforgettable day.

What is Scape Park Cap Cana?

Scape Park Cap Cana is an amusement park designed around a tropical and Caribbean theme. Even it has the organizational and pricing structure of a theme park (the entrance fee allows you to stay in the park the whole day and to use all the attractions as much as you want) it is not like Six Flags, Disney World, etc. Instead of roller coasters, white-water rides or bumper cars this Punta Cana theme park is designed around a tropical theme with activities such as ziplining, blue lagoons and lots of other water attractions.

Scape Park Punta Cana offers attractions related to warm and tropical temperatures, among them a lot of water action, ziplining , cenotes, tropical panorama views and (artificial) waterfalls ( check out this article here about all other waterfalls in Punta Cana ). Some of the activities are guided, which gives it a more personal and interactive touch than a regular visit to a theme park. One of the main attractions of Scape Park is Hoyo Azul, which is the famous Blue Lagoon of Punta Cana , a cenote with extremely turquoise and crystal-clear water (find more information about Hoyo Azul further below in this Scape Park review).

Furthermore, you can get an authentic impression of the rather dry vegetation in the south of Punta Cana, even if the park itself is relatively tropical.

You can find out more about the activities at this Punta Cana theme park at the list of attractions below or further down in this Scape Park Punta Cana review when we are writing about our experiences.

Scape Park Cap Cana, an adventure park in the south of Punta Cana

Where is Scape Park Cap Cana located?

Scape Park Cap Cana is in the south of Punta Cana, a few kilometers south of Punta Cana Village and the Punta Cana International Airport . It is part of the gated luxury project Cap Cana. It takes around 30 to 45 minutes from most all-inclusive resorts in Bavaro and Punta Cana to reach Scape Park Punta Cana.

If you book your tour online in advance * and indicate your hotel with the booking, you will be picked up accordingly from your resort, so you do not have to worry about anything. You can also head to Scape Park Punta Cana with your rental car on your own if you don’t like the transfers, but the Scape Park ticket price will be the same.

Prices for Scape Park Cap Cana

Scape Park Cap Cana is not cheap, but if you compare the entrance fee to the price of a ticket for Disney World or one of the Six Flags Parks, Scape Park is not as expensive as the price of around 120-130 USD might appear at the first moment.

Furthermore, if you consider that a typical excursion in Punta Cana usually costs around 70-120 USD per person and Scape Park is comparable to a combo package of various activities (as Scape Park offers Ziplining, a cave visit, animal shows, cultural guided tours, a cenote, the famous Hoyo Azul at Scape Park DR and much more), the Scape Park price is more affordable. If you would book all those excursions separately you would certainly pay more than for Scape Park. Particularly combo excursions with ziplining are usually pretty expensive, hence the Scape Park Punta Cana price is more than reasonable.

As an additional plus, some of the activities are guided, so you are led by a guide through certain parts of the park.

Still, Scape Park DR does not belong to the cheapest of the attractions in Punta Cana .

If you book in advance, the Scape Park Punta Cana price includes transfer from and to your all-inclusive resort and all the guided and non-guided attractions as listed in the next chapter (except for the Scape Park buggies and the Cap Cana sunshine cruise, which require an additional charge).

If you have your dates already set, you can check the current best price for Scape Park Punta Cana with the following link.

The price you get here is usually the best price around. It is hard to find any Scape Park Punta Cana discounts, as most websites are sticking to the park’s official price.

However, if you want to check if any of the providers currently is offering some Scape Park discounts, you can do so at the following excursion websites which are all selling Scape Park tickets.

What are the attractions at Scape Park Cap Cana?

So what can you experience at Punta Cana’s Scape Park?

The park offers the following attractions which are all included in your Scape Park ticket:

  • Zipline Eco-Adventure : a zipline circuit with 8 cables and a short Via Ferrata
  • Zipline Eco-Splash: another double zipline which is ending in the water (amazing!)
  • Cultural Route : a self-guided tour through a bit of Dominican history including the visit to a typical remodeled countryside house
  • El Rancho : a Dominican ranch with horses and goats for petting and feeding
  • Iguanaland : kind of an iguana zoo
  • Saltos Azules : artificial waterfalls with blue water in a beautiful setting, including ropes for jumping into the water and the Yaya Cave
  • Iguabonita Cave : a guided tour through a cave system
  • Hoyo Azul :  a fascinating blue lagoon where you can jump into and swim , including a hanging bridge on the short hike to the Hoyo Azul at Scape Park
  • Cueva Las Ondas : a cave with a crystal-clear and illuminated underground lake, similar to the cenotes in Mexico
  • Parrot & Monkey Island : animal sanctuaries, where you can see parrots, animals and snakes.

These are the main attractions at Scape Park Punta Cana, which you can visit throughout the day and according to your pace.

The Scape Park Punta Cana map

All around the park you will also see photographers, which will take professional photos of you during the activities. At the end of your day, you can buy the Scape Park photos directly in the shop. It is still recommendable to take your own phone (except for the water activities) to capture all those unique moments at Scape Park Punta Cana, which might be a highlight of your Dominican Republic vacation.

There are two further attractions you can buy additionally to your full-day Scape Park ticket:

  • Sunshine Cruise: a catamaran cruise through the shallow waters of Cap Cana with snorkeling, music, open-bar and entertainment
  • Scape Park Buggies: A buggy adventure right within Scape Park, where you explore the area with an ATV and get dirty and wet

Both of these tours, the Cap Cana Sunshine Cruise and the Scape Park Buggies (double-seater when with 2 persons) currently (as of July 2022) cost 40 USD per person. This has to be paid in addition to your regular Scape Park ticket in case you want to go on these tours.

Currently, there is a promotion with a slight Scape Park Punta Cana discount where you can book the full-day entrance ticket and the Scape Park Sunshine Cruise for 159 USD *.

Even though a catamaran cruise and dune buggy adventure are belonging to the most popular excursions in Punta Cana , I probably would not book both add-ons. This is not because they are not recommended – those are indeed nice add-ons. However, particularly for the sunshine cruise you have to leave Scape Park Punta Cana already before 2 pm (your transfer to the departing point of the cruise is included) and therefore don’t have enough time to experience all the attractions Scape Park is offering. You can check out this post if you’re looking for some of the best catamaran tours in Punta Cana .

Alternatively, you can also book the Sunshine Cruise without the Scape Park ticket. Obviously, this option only includes the catamaran and not the entrance to all the other attractions of Punta Cana’s Scape Park.

The buggies, just taking 45 minutes, is a quicker add-on, but in my opinion, the countryside where the tour takes you is not as interesting as other dune buggy adventures in Punta Cana . However, if you only have this particular day to have some fun in Punta Cana and want to experience an ATV tour, you can add the Scape Park buggies to your itinerary. You can do this right on spot, there is no need to prebook this option.

Our experiences at Scape Park Cap Cana

So how did we like our (multiple) visits to Scape Park in the Dominican Republic? That’s what we also want to talk about at this Scape Park review.

Zipline Eco-Adventure

Let us start with the zipline, which is, together with Hoyo Azul , definitely the main attraction in the park. It consists of 8 cables and runs once along the cliff of Scape Park Punta Cana. Many cables are located on the edge of some rock formations which allows for some spectacular views of Cap Cana, including the ocean. So if you are looking for an ocean view zipline in the Dominican Republic, Cap Cana is your place to go (even there is another one at the other end of the country, close to Puerto Plata ).

The author Chris in the Dominican Republic

After 5 or 6 cables of Scape Park Punta Cana’s zipline, there is a little extra waiting for you – a Via Ferrata! Here you can climb one of the cliffs, supported by steps and handles. It is a pretty cool and quick activity during the zipline course.

The last zipline, No. 8, is the longest zipline with a length of around 1500 feet (!) and very fast speed. The adrenaline was pumping here, it was an awesome ride. It is also one of the fastest ziplines in Punta Cana, as you can see in this ziplining comparison .

Ziplining at Scape Park Cap Cana, an adventure park in the south of Punta Cana

Zipline Eco-Splash

Compared to the last years, when Scape Park Punta Cana featured a 12-cable zipline course, which was ending in the water, this was divided into two separate attractions recently. While you have the 8-cable zipline course (Zipline Eco-Adventure) as described above in this Scape Park review, you have the separate Zipline Eco-Splash, which is one ride composed of a double cable (so two persons can fly simultaneously) sending you straight into the water. After all the sunshine and adrenaline, you get a very welcomed water cool down when splashing into the pool waiting at the end of the zipline. An awesome feeling with a lot of fun and laughter. Check out this article for some more details about this and other ziplines in Punta Cana .

Ziplining at Scape Park Cap Cana, an adventure park in the south of Punta Cana

While the division between the Zipline Eco-Adventure and the Zipline Eco-Splash quits a bit of the surprise of having a water zipline at the end of a full zipline circuit (and you need to get the water equipment twice), in the end it is pretty cool for all visitors at Scape Park DR, as it has two main advantages: – you can take your phone for the Zipline Eco-Adventure and take stunning photos (without the phone getting wet) – you can divide your day at Scape Park Punta Cana into “dry adventures” and “wet adventures” (for example do all the dry adventures in the morning, then put on your swimsuits and afterwards do all the activities where you get wet such as the Zipline Eco-Splash, the Scape Park Cap Cana waterfall or the water hammocks) – you still can do the zipline circuit in case you don’t want to get wet

Hoyo Azul at Scape Park Punta Cana (Blue Lagoon)

The second highlight for me was the blue lagoon, the so-called Hoyo Azul . There are several of these lagoons throughout the Dominican Republic and also a few of them in the area of Punta Cana (among them the “ Hoyo Claro ” and the “Ojos Indigenas”), but the color of the Hoyo Azul is extraordinary and hard to believe. Blue Lagoon is basically an understatement for the blue color which is expecting you here and besides that, the water is extremely clear. You can see several meters deep, which adds to its fascination as the water originates in an underground cave system. Last but not least, the jump into and swim in the cold water of the blue lagoon was very refreshing.

The Hoyo Azul at Scape Park Cap Cana, a crystal-clear freshwater lagoon

You can find more information about this cenote here in the separate article about Hoyo Azul & Blue Lagoon .

To best enjoy Hoyo Azul and to see it with as few people as possible, I’d recommend visiting it on one of the following three occasions: – first thing in the morning right when you enter Scape Park Punta Cana – during lunch time (1-2 pm), when most people are having a break at the center of the theme park – last activity in the afternoon, shortly before the park closes at 5 pm (take into consideration that you need approx. 15 minutes per way to reach the Blue Lagoon at Scape Park Punta Cana)

You can also jump into the water here and get some of Scape Park Punta Canas’ cool photos. Even if you don’t want to jump, it is fun to watch other people jumping from the viewing platform. Stay some time here and enjoy!

Cave Swim (Cueva Las Ondas)

The “Cueva Las Ondas”, a cave for swimming with crystal-clear water similar to a Mexican cenote, was also very pretty, especially since it reminded me of my exciting experiences at the Yucatan Peninsula.

While the Blue Lagoon in Punta Cana is an open cenote, the Cave Swim attraction at Scape Park Cap Cana resembles a closed cenote located in a cave. You have to go down around 50 stairs and be careful a bit, as it might be slippery.

Also, the cave swim at Scape Park DR shall be visited outside of the peak hours as it otherwise can get pretty full. With too many people, the Cueva Las Ondas loses its magic, hence it is best visited right in the morning at 9 am, during lunchtime, or before the park closes.

Saltos Azules & Yayas Cave

Saltos Azules is the huge waterfall at Scape Park Punta Cana, which is, at the same time, also the center of most of the water activities. Yayas Cave is a cave behind the waterfall, which can be either accessed through a small tunnel or by entering the waterfall pool.

While the area here is very nice and the pool counts for a refreshing dip, obviously the Salto Azul waterfall is not as pretty as the  many natural waterfalls I have already seen in the Dominican Republic . Still, if you have never seen a waterfall, you will love the scenery here.

The central relax area at Scape Park Punta Cana

Furthermore, the area is home to what can be called the relax or chill-out area of Scape Park Punta Cana. Once you’re done with all the activities or attractions you want to do, you can take a sunlounger (included) here and relax with some good music and get yourself a drink or a snack (not included). The area is beautiful and in case you are visiting Scape Park Punta Cana as a family, your kids can enjoy the pools, hammock rides or water swings, while you are relaxing.

Ropes, Swings and Hammock Rides

Exactly this area is also home to a couple of smaller attractions (which are officially part of Saltos Azules and the Eco-Splash Zipline). There are three easy ziplines, where you simply take the handle, swing over the water and let yourself fall down. Another Scape Park Punta Cana attraction here is the hammock ride. Here you are using a swinging hammock and are flying zipline style into the water, which is pretty cool fun.

The hammock swing with water splash at Scape Park Punta Cana

Iguabonita Cave

The Iguabonita Cave, a cave at Scape Park Cap Cana, definitely cannot compete with other caves in the Dominican Republic. I have done this tour twice now during my visits to Scape Park DR and both times it was pretty boring. The only reason to do this activity is if you have never seen a cave system in your life.

Cultural Route

Considering that most people don’t know much about the history of the Dominican Republic, the Cultural Route at Scape Park Punta Cana is pretty interesting. It is a short walking trail of around 15 to 20 minutes with plenty of educational presentation boards, telling you more about the history of the culture, especially the Tainos, the arrival of Christopher Columbus and the mixture of the native inhabitants, the Europeans and the African slaves. It is a very interesting walk with a nice learning effect.

The Cultural Walk at Scape Park Punta Cana

The cultural route at Scape Park Punta Cana combines perfectly with the Cave Swim, as this is located at the end of the walk (but you can skip the walk if you just want to do the Cave Swim).

During the walk, you can also see a replication of a local Dominican house with a garden. Here you can not only learn about traditions but also taste a typical Dominican coffee.

Original Dominican coffee

The animal-focussed attractions at Scape Park Punta Cana can mostly be disregarded.

A visit to “Iguanaland” doesn’t replace a road-trip to the southwest of the Dominican Republic, where dozens or even hundreds of iguanas roam around Lake Enriquillo and Laguna Oviedo, to name just a few examples.

At Monkey Island you can see a few monkeys which occasionally get fed. At least they are not living in a cage, but it is still nothing to rave about.

And finally, El Rancho, where you can see animals and goats, is also not a big highlight, hence it is better to stick to the other attractions mentioned in this Scape Park Punta Cana review.

Besides that, you can expect a well-maintained theme park with clean facilities, paths easy to walk and a dedicated service staff, which makes your visit as pleasant as possible.

Therefore it’s a great way to see more from the Dominican Republic than just your resort and you enjoy many activities in less than one full day.

Further things to know when visiting Scape Park Punta Cana (what to bring, WiFi, food, etc.)

Food is not included in your Scape Park Punta Cana ticket (if not otherwise specified). There are two areas in the park where you can buy food. The first one is the main entrance area where you have a café, snacks bars and the main restaurant (usually with prices between 10 and 13 USD per plate). Just note that the restaurant menu is not super extensive. Most of the items are typical fast food options and the vegetarian options are very limited.

An alternative option to eat something is the pizzeria next to Saltos Azules, which in my opinion is a better option for lunch (with prices of around 18 USD for a very large pizza). It is better in terms of the vibe of the sitting area and the price-value ratio. However, capacity at the pizzeria is very limited, hence you might wait a while in case you head there during peak hours.

It is recommended to take some snacks to Scape Park Punta Cana which gives you more flexibility in terms of food options. For lunch, I’d recommend having lunch before 12:30 pm or after 2:00 pm to avoid peak hours.

Officially there is WiFi available in the restaurant / main entrance area, but it is pretty poor. With my local phone provider (Altice) I also didn’t have any cell phone coverage, hence it is better to prepare for a day without connection and enjoy your visit to Scape Park Punta Cana to the fullest.

What to bring

Besides swimsuits, towels and changing clothes as well as all personal items, you should bring the following items to make your trip easier and save a considerable amount of money, especially when traveling as a family:

  • a lock (to store your stuff while you’re ziplining or joining water adventures) – alternatively you can buy a lock at Punta Cana’s Scape Park for 5 USD
  • water (you can also buy water in the park)
  • a waterproof case for your phone (so it doesn’t get wet during some of the activities – you can also buy them directly in the park or store your phones in the locker)
  • snacks (food and snacks are for sale at Scape Park DR but it is recommendable to have a few snacks with you so you don’t have to buy every single peanut)

Restrictions

Most of the attractions at Punta Cana’s Scape Park are doable for everyone which makes the theme park a perfect Punta Cana excursion for families as well. However, there are a few restrictions on some of the attractions:

  • Ziplining is not recommended for pregnant women or guests with back problems
  • The hiking trails (to Hoyo Azul , to the Iguabonita Cave, to the Cave Swim and the Cultural Walk) are in natural conditions, hence they are not wheelchair-friendly
  • For the zipline at Scape Park Punta Cana, there is a minimum age limit of 6 years, a maximum weight limit of 330 pounds and a maximum waist limit of 44 inches

Transfers from any all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana (and a couple of guesthouses and Airbnbs) are included when you book your ticket in advance. Pick-up time from your Punta Cana resort is usually between 07:30 am and 08:30 am, the return from Scape Park is at 5 pm. You will receive the exact pick-up time either with your booking confirmation or a few days before your visit via e-mail.

Summary: is it worth to visit Scape Park Cap Cana?

After all, you can have a super fun day at Scape Park Cap Cana, it doesn’t matter if you are a family or an individual traveler. Especially the zip lining and the blue lagoon are belonging to the must-visits of Punta Cana and guarantee unique experiences. Furthermore, Scape Park Cap Cana is fitting in the tropical environment and offers some great fun and water action with all the water-based activities. Children will love all of this.

In case Punta Cana is just the start of your holiday and you are planning to explore the Dominican Republic on your own pace during a self-drive tour or a road-trip then you have the chance to get most attractions of Scape Park Cap Cana elsewhere in a more natural environment (and usually cheaper). So in this case, I would recommend you a well-crafted itinerary to see all the things the Dominican Republic has to offer .

However, if you are only staying in the Punta Cana area (like for most of the all-inclusive holidays in Punta Cana) and are planning multiple activities during your stay in Bavaro and surrounding, plus zip lining (the main attraction) is one of them, then Scape Park is a great deal for you. It is also recommendable if you are visiting with children and are looking for family activities , as they simply will love all the different water activities.

Alternatives to Scape Park Cap Cana

In terms of a similar amusement park , Bavaro Adventure Park * is a suitable option you can check. It is older than Scape Park Cap Cana and has different attractions. La Hacienda Park is another full-day adventure park with ziplining and it even has more tropical and lush vegetation than Scape Park Cap Cana. Furthermore La Hacienda Park offers very competitive pricing *. If you are looking for alternatives to the single elements of the park, you can have a look at the various zip lining offers in the area of Bavaro and Punta Cana *. For the Hoyo Azul you can visit Hoyo Claro instead – nearly for free . Check out my article about this alternative blue lagoon . If you would like to learn about Dominican culture I recommend you either a self-drive tour through the country ( click here for customized itinerary proposals ) or – in case you just want to stay in the Punta Cana area – one of the several countryside & culture excursions *. And last but not least, if you’d like to see waterfalls in the area of Punta Cana , you can visit Salto de la Jalda , Cascada Blanca or Los Haitises National Park with its unique waterfall eco-lodge .

Hi Chris! This post has been really helpful. The only question I have is if there are any restaurants or snack bars at the Scape Park. Thanks!

Hi Kath, yes, there is a restaurant at Scape Park Cap Cana. I think most tickets that are currently sold for Scape park don’t include lunch. Cheers, Chris
