Illusion – The magical, mysterious masterpiece.

cruise show blackpool

About Illusion.

Back in Blackpool for a two week run from 31st March through to 16th March, Illusion is a fantastic family magic show being performed at the Horseshoe, Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

A journey through the impossible, with incredible illusions performed to an edgy backdrop of mystery, with Master Illusionist Chris De Rosa and his fabulous assistant, Michelle Ferguson.

The duo perform unbelievable magic entwined with the stylish and mood-setting vocals of Lynsey Milroy and Alan Walker. Two of the UK’s leading vocalists.

‘ Illusion’  takes the audience into a world of light and dark, guided by music, magic, mystery and illusion! It truly is a Magical, Mysterious Masterpiece!

Fun fact is that Chris Dr Rosa actually builds all the illusions himself, a man of many talents!! Musically the show is set to rock songs from Queen to Evanescence which just adds another dimension to the show, (come on…..who doesn’t love a bit of Queen honestly!!)

You can book tickets for the show here , be quick or you’ll miss your chance!

The performers.

Chris De Rosa has been performing professionally since 1992, with his award-winning Illusion act The Art of Illusion. Entertaining audiences all over the world, in casinos, cruise ships, theme parks, TV and corporate events. Winning British Magical Champion of Illusion in 1998.

His experience in magic not only involves performing, but extends into the area of being a creative and magic consultant. Which requires Chris to design and build stage illusions, props and scenery for some of the World’s leading tourism attractions. Such as Haven Holidays, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Flamingo Land Resort, Thames Television and many more. In fact most of the illusions performed in Chris’shows are built and designed by himself in his own workshop.

In the 30 year career span of Chris De Rosa, he has had many milestones. Such as his own casino revue show in Portugal’s Algarve in a 5 star resort. Joining the Worlds biggest and most successful touring illusion show, The Illusionists and working in the first ever purpose built cruise ship immersive dinning experience, The Illusionarium for Norwegian Cruise Lines. A $12.5 million illusion show.

Now he is excited to bring to the stage his own production alongside his magical partner Michelle Ferguson, who has worked alongside Chris for 12 years and the sensational vocals of Lynsey Milroy and Alan Walker in the premier of Illusion, The Show.

Michelle Ferguson – his assistant

Michelle studied at Performing Arts Studio Scotland where she graduated with a BA Hons in Dance. Whilst in training she met illusionist Chris and has been performing with him ever since. After graduating she joined the Scottish Rockettes and toured Asia with Football Focus and Football Asia. Working with The Art of Illusion has allowed her to travel all over the world performing on various cruise ships and her highlight was working in the purpose built illusion stage show the Illusionarium  on the NCL Getaway which toured the Caribbean. Michelle has also appeared in pantomime and tribute shows throughout the country and is currently performing company manager for EHP Theatre and is touring with them this year in various productions. Michelle can’t wait to be back in Blackpool as this will her third season performing at the Horseshoe after starring in ‘Timeless’ in 2019.

Lynsey Milroy -Female vocals

Lynsey started performing at the age of 3 where she began her life as a dancer. She then went on to gain an HND in Musical theatre from New College Lanarkshire, the first of it’s kind in Scotland.

She has since gone on to travel the world as a performer on board costa cruises, where she had the pleasure of working alongside Canadian Illusionist Connie Boyd in “The Magic of Boyd”.

Lynsey has performed in many pantomimes including, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and Jack and The Beanstalk where she played The Fairy Godmother in the Gaiety theatre, Ayr and The Civic theatre Motherwell. She also Performed the role of Toto in the Wizard of Never woz in The Pavilion theatre, Glasgow.

She has choreographed shows in The Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock and many other venues and was choreographer for Chloe and Christi Lukasiak – from the USA TV show Dance Moms on their UK tour.

Lynsey also runs her own production company – Platinum Rock, who produce shows for theatre and corporate events. Working in venues such as Gleneagles, Turnberry, Caesars Casinos and Hilton. They worked alongside Virgin Atlantic for the launch of their new flight to Vegas, getting through customs in showgirl feathers was some task!

Lynsey has appeared on various TV shows and films like Trainspotting 2 , Taggart, River City, Gary Tank Commander and Cbeebies.

With her Abba show – Dancing Queen, Lynsey performed in Blackpool’s Globe Theatre , as well as right here in The Horseshoe.

Lynsey is delighted to be back in Blackpool and performing with Chris, Michelle and Alan whom she has known for many years.

Some years later Alan became one of the resident singers in the Parade Cabaret venue in Glasgow. Alan also put together a 10-piece tribute show band called ‘Absolute Legends’ Touring UK theatres. He also  worked as a session vocalist with musicians from ‘Simple Minds’ and 80’s Pop band H2O on an original project called ‘The Celtic Fire’ who produced their Debut album called ‘Built in Glasgow town in 2013.

Compare, Leye D Johns, is a seasoned and professional entertainer and his fellow performers were equally talented. The show content was excellent and appealed to young and old alike, framing the great songs from the greatest shows and movies, such as “Flash Dance”, “Matilda”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Chicago”,” Six”. Excerpts from 30 shows in all!!! Costumes, singing, dancing, Cirque, they omitted nothing!! We enjoyed ourselves so much we booked 2 further shows for this summer:”Pink v. Live updates, simone biles cruises to ninth us gymnastics championship amid olympic prep.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

FORT WORTH, Texas — There used to be a time when Simone Biles would find “beauty in the blindness” ahead of the Olympics, reveling in not knowing what she didn’t know.

That was eight years ago.

Back when she was still just a teenager. Still kind of “ditzy.”

Simone Biles

Those days are long gone.

The evidence isn’t just on Biles drivers’ license or her marriage certificate but in how the now 27-year-old is able to see beyond herself.

The tunnel vision that most great athletes have in pursuit of greatness has fallen away.

And maybe that’s the biggest difference between the national title the gymnastics star won on Sunday night — her ninth, this one with an all-around total of 119.750 — and her first over a decade ago.

The defining moment of Biles’ victory wasn’t a twist, a turn or a jump, but a walk.

It came early on, when Biles watched 2020 Olympic champion and good friend Sunisa Lee spin awkwardly in the air during her vault and landed on her back, a mixture of surprise and fear spreading across her face.

“I was kind of thinking that this was over,” Lee said.

Then Biles appeared at her side, unprompted.

She knew exactly where Lee was in that moment better than anyone.

Three years ago at the Tokyo Games, a similar wayward vault by Biles started a chain of events that led to her withdrawing from multiple competitions and dragging the discussion on the importance of mental health front and center.

Watching Lee, who has spent most of the last two years battling kidney issues that have made her weight yo-yo and complicated her training, try to gather herself, Biles left her World Champions Centre teammates and gave Lee the kind of support Biles relied on so heavily back in Japan.

“I know how traumatizing it is, especially on a big stage like this,” Biles said. “And I didn’t want her to get in her head, so we just went and talked about it.”

The two retreated off the floor to talk, with Biles reminding Lee she “could do hard things.”

When they returned, Biles stood next to the uneven bars cheering Lee on as she rebounded with a brilliant (if somewhat watered down) routine that scored a 14.500 and helped her finish a promising fourth.

“I know I was having a hard time and she was just there to help lift me up,” Lee said.

Simone Biles

Biles is at a stage in her unparalleled career where the joy she gets from the sport is no longer centered strictly on the quality of her performance.

While she joked that she believes she’s “aging like fine wine,” it’s telling that she saved her biggest smile afterward when talking about the five World Champions Centre teammates — most of them a decade younger — who will join her at Olympic trials in Minneapolis later this month.

“That’s kind of what excites me because I think they have long careers ahead of them,” Biles said. “So if I can do anything to help them, right now and in the future, that’s what I’m going to do.”

It’s her way of giving back.

She is well aware of the spotlight that awaits her in Paris and is trying to set an example for others on how to navigate the pressure that lies ahead.

She’s become a regular in therapy — now even during meet weeks — and is determined to focus on what she can control.

Like, say, her gymnastics.

In front of an audience that included her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, Biles put on a four-rotation clinic that featured all the trademarks of a typical Biles performance. There was jaw-dropping athleticism mixed with precision and more than a splash of swagger.

Biles finished with the highest two-day score on all four events, something she’d done only once before at nationals (2018).

Her only misstep on Sunday came on vault.

She came up short on her Yurchenko double pike — two back flips with her hands clasped behind her knees — during warmups and overcompensated when it counted, generating so much force she wound up on her back.

She still received a 15.000 for her effort, a testament to a vault that’s never been completed in competition by another woman and only attempted by a select group of men.

Simone Biles

Not that it bothered her.

Biles collected herself, took a couple of deep breaths then followed it up a Cheng vault that was rewarded with a 15.1 and put a ninth national title within reach.

No other gymnast in the history of the sport in the U.S. has more than seven.

While Biles remains above the fray as usual, there is plenty of competition for the other four spots on the five-woman U.S. team that will head to Paris as heavy favorites to return to the top of the podium after finishing second to Russia in Tokyo three years ago.

Skye Blakely, 19, put together another impressive performance and will head to Minneapolis with plenty of momentum.

Three years after her bid to make the 2020 Olympic team ended with an injury, Blakely is peaking at the right time.

Lee remains a picture of elegance on bars and beam, her best events, and was encouraged after her first elite all-around competition since she triumphed in Tokyo while Biles cheered from the stands.

Olympians Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey are in the mix, though both endured falls on beam on Sunday.

Third-place finisher Kayla DiCello slipped off the uneven bars.

Then there’s Shilese Jones, considered the best all-around gymnast in the U.S. without the last name Biles, pulled out of the championships on Friday, citing a shoulder injury though she said Sunday she was feeling better and plans to be available for trials. So will 18-year-old Kaliya Lincoln, who opted not to compete on Sunday after tweaking something during Friday night’s opening session.

Both — if healthy — figure to be serious contenders to earn an invitation to Paris (Jones in particular).

Biles’ ticket is essentially punched.

Same as it ever was.

A Cruise Collection for Anyone Who’s Sick of the Trend Cycle

Nicolas Ghesquière staged a craft-driven Louis Vuitton show at Antoni Gaudí’s Park Güell in Barcelona

louis vuitton resort 2025 collection

Last night in Barcelona, Ghesquière did it again. He spun up a fantasy that was not cemented in any specific plot arc, but instead grounded in a more organic beauty. Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2025 collection was shown at the Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a modernist wonder that, with its whimsical, curved, stone-flanked pathways and kaleidoscopic mosaics, is ripe for surrealist dreams. Instead of a thematic collection, Ghesquière gave us an intelligent and delicately coded celebration of modernist art and architecture, one specific to the aesthetic of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, who designed Park Güell.

Ghesquière has, over the course of his decade at Louis Vuitton, shown various collections at other architectural landmarks around the world, including the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio, the TWA Flight Center in New York, and the Bob Hope Estate in Palm Springs, but this jaunt somehow felt more personal. Maybe it’s because Ghesquière and Gaudí share a synergistic respect for unexpected organic forms. Or maybe it’s because this collection felt like a continuation of Spring 2024, which was introspective and tender, celebrating his tenure at Vuitton with a cleverly executed array of Ghesquière-ian house codes.

a person wearing a skirt

For Cruise 2025, Ghesquière clearly had fun playing around with texture and fit, namely in the sharp flamenco hats and strong-shoulder suit pairings, as well as the bouncy balloon-hem dresses and the skirts that swished along with sequins, raw-edged yarn, or scrunched and draped taffeta. There were winking nods to flamenco beyond the hats, too, like the sheer black and white polka-dot dress with barlike straps and cutouts at the hips, or the apron jumpsuit styled with what looked like the bottom half of a flamenco skirt tied around the neck and fringe-covered shoes. In short, the collection is a luxury wardrobe made for tango dancers and bullfighters on some kind of ever-unfurling space odyssey. It’s an imagined journey made real through clothes that only Ghesquière can give us.

a person in a skirt and boots

The thing about cruise collections is that they’re typically about a brand’s ability to go big. The further the destination and the more extravagant the setting, the better. It’s a moment made for viral attention, for the dream of a luxury product to come to life via a hugely expensive, wildly opulent runway show. Louis Vuitton plays this game better than most, but Ghesquière has never been about gimmicks or the desire to make something go viral. His way of operating is about a genuine love of art and craft, of using design as a mechanism to inspire.

It’s a good time to promote this idea of luxury, too, when we’re in an anti-trend moment in which fashion lovers want to lean into personal style and authentic forms of dress. Mashing up your own thing is much more satisfying than copying someone else’s uniform. Ghesquière has never made products for products’ sake. As he showed once again last night in Barcelona, for him, it will always be about the power in the purity of form.
