"The 35’ Deluxe Catamaran “Cadillac of the Caves” was AMAZING! Do not miss this when you’re in Kauai. Brian and Capt. Nate were fun, kind, knowledgeable, patient…all the things. They personally made sure every single person was comfortable and having fun the whole time. They shared tons of knowledge about Kauai and the Napali coast, played music, made us laugh, and were obviously capable and at ease on the ocean. The deluxe catamaran was big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to fit in caves and be an exciting ride. My husband and 7 year old sat in bench seats in the middle of the boat, while my 10 year old and I rode up front for a more exciting ride. We stopped to snorkel and they provided good equipment. They also put out snacks and drinks while we were in the water. They made sure everyone had enough time in the water and didn’t feel rushed back. Our family all took Dramamine the night before and again about an hour before we got on the boat, and we all felt fine the whole time. Do take similar precautions if you’re at all worried about sea sickness. I cannot recommend this company and experience highly enough. It was one of my favorite days ever! It was the experience of a lifetime to take in the gorgeous scenery in such a fun and exciting way. The experience and memories are worth the price. Book it!

Experience the Nā Pali Coast on a Boat Tour

Witness the incredible beauty of Kauai on the Nā Pali Coast. The nai’a 🐬 (dolphins and porpoises) cruise along the catamaran, so have your camera ready for amazing pictures! Captain Lani and the crew share Hawaiian culture and history along the way.

As we travel up north towards Nā Pali, you see the island of Niihau in the distance, approximately 17 miles away. It appears just a stone’s throw away.

Get up close and personal with majestic cliffs, sea caves, and a cascading waterfall. Then, we stop at a pristine, protected reef, Nu’alolo Kai, to swim and snorkel. At one time, it was an active, productive Hawaiian fishing village. You may see the honu 🐢 (sea turtles) swimming in their own environment.

Snorkel gear and instructions are provided. Foam noodles are also available.

A deli-style lunch is available ; build your own sandwich of turkey, ham, two types of cheeses, two types of bread, lettuce, and tomatoes. For dessert, there is fresh pineapple and vanilla cinnamon cake. Sodas and juices are also available.

• Make sure to bring a water bottle or a Hydro Flax with water! Only metal water bottles allowed to promote environmentalism and protect the oceans.
• Wear comfortable clothing — swimwear, cover-up, shorts, and a t-shirt. Protect yourself from the sun. Wear a long sleeve t-shirt and a hat or visor.
• Bring a bag or backpack with a towel and a camera.
• Wear comfortable footwear, slippers, or sandals. You will be barefoot on board. If you need to wear footwear, wear your own aqua shoes. However, do not walk down with the aqua shoes as they will gather the red dirt. Red dirt and seawater make for red paste — not good for Catamaran Kahanu.

Your safety is our priority. Captain Lani and the crew are experienced watermen — we guarantee your comfort, enjoyment, and satisfaction. During winter months, ocean conditions can be rough in the Nā Pali Coast. If needed, Captain Lani will go to calmer waters.

My first time snorkeling and I had a blast! The crew was personable, professional, and even offered me prescription goggles. This was a solo activity for me and I met some very nice people. No better way to start your day in paradise!

The Morning Na Pali Tour starts with check-in at 6:30- 7:00 a.m. It may be a little cooler than our afternoon tour, so bring a windbreaker just in case. This Na Pali Coast snorkel tour will showcase the beauty of Kauai, as well as its Hawaiian marine life. 

We depart Hanalei Bay around 7:30 a.m. and return approximately 4 hours later at around 11:30 a.m. Snorkel equipment and floatation devices are provided, as well as a waterproof dry-bag.

Please note that we do not guarantee snorkeling or entrance into sea caves. Our goal is always to provide the best tour possible, given the day’s weather and ocean conditions. Safety is priority #1 always.

Went out on the Snorkeling Cruise. Crew was incredibly kind and funny. They were always aware of the patrons safety even when people couldn’t follow simple directions. The snorkeling was amazing. They provided adequate food and beverage and made sure everyone was as comfortable as possible. The captain and his crew did not try to hide anything and let people know what was going on. I definitely recommend booking a tour with these guys, you won’t be disappointed!

We’ve gone with http://www.napalicatamaran.com numerous times and highly recommend.

Thank you! Do you happen to know how the catamaran is boarded? Is their a jetty or dock? Or do you have to wade through water? My father in-law has mobility challenges and I'm trying to find something that will work for him.

From their website: “ All passengers must be able and prepared to wade into waist-deep water and climb a 4-step ladder in order to board/disembark the vessel.”

I really like the catamarans that Captain Andy's tours use. Is there any company like that out of the North Shore?

For what it's worth, we will be staying in the South for 4 nights and then the north for 5 nights. We are a three generation group with minor mobility issues for the grandparents.

You see things from the south that you don't get to see from the north as well - don't worry that some people here seem to think the north is the be all and end all if you want to spend a ton of money on a Catamaran tour. We have sailed with Captain Andy's 10+ times and love it, especially the sunset tour with dinner. Great way to see Polihale and the naval base and the start of the Napali Coast all the way to Kalalau Beach. If you have a person with mobility issues this is a great option for you.

No one has suggested that leaving from the North is the “be all and end all.” The OP asked for suggestions and opinions. We’ve done the morning tour with Napali Catamaran many times. We love that we reach the Na Pali (which is the whole point of the tour) in about 15 minutes compared to an hour or more from Port Allen.
