- Trivia T'Pol makes reference to a protocol which states that it is wise "to wait until a society develops warp drive before initiating first contact." She goes on to say that it would be wise for Starfleet to adopt these "Vulcan protocols." Starfleet later adopts them as part of the essential Prime Directive, serving as a benchmark for measuring development of a civilization and admission to the Federation.
- Goofs The alien ship is in geosynchronous orbit on the opposite side of the planet and is shuttling cargo back and forth from from their mining operation in the city below Enterprise. Are the sensors on the Enterprise so poor that they wouldn't detect a alien shuttle landing and taking off right below their position?
Captain Jonathan Archer : A farm?
Sub-Commander T'Pol : It's remote and sparsely populated. If you're exposed, there's a reduced risk of cultural contamination.
Captain Jonathan Archer : This must be why aliens are always landing in cornfields.

Biology [ ]
The Akaali resemble humans, but with prominent anterior crests symmetrically placed on either side of the forehead.
History [ ]
During the mid-22nd century the Akaali were a pre-industrial society.
Around the year 2149, the planet was visited by Malurians . They began exploiting veridium by setting up a mining operation under a shop in one of the cities on the eastern continent. The use of tetracyanate 622 in the process caused an epidemic that lasted for eighteen months. The disease caused many Akaali to develop mottled skin and facial lesions and then death. Their level of medical technology was unable to cure the disease.
The Akaali homeworld was discovered by humans in 2151 by the crew of the USS Enterprise NX-01. At the time of its discovery, the population of Akaali was around 500 million, populated by dozens of cities on all continents. Remote areas outside the cities were sparsely populated farms.
Following the expulsion of Garos, the main Malurian, from the planet Enterprise, Captain Jonathan Archer notified the Vulcans to keep an "occasional" eye on Akaali to prevent further Malurian influence.
By the 32nd century, the Akaali had become warp-capable and had established a colony in the Radvek asteroid belt, where they lived under the influence of the Emerald Chain. The colony was destroyed by the Dark Matter Anomaly in 3190.
Society [ ]
In Akaali mythology, Draylan was the ruler of the afterworld.
In the mid-22nd century, they were travelling the oceans in clippers. Technologically, they lit their cities with oil lamps but still had no plumbing. They also owned a crossbow and consumed tea. Their political division at the time was divided into provinces and they used units of measurement such as meter and liter.
By the 32nd century, under the influence of the Emerald Chain, the Akaalis in the Radvek asteroid belt had adopted the legal practice of using the "Examples": a small number of criminals convicted of both major and minor offences were imprisoned for life to demonstrate the cost of misconduct.

The Sakari civilization was decimated by an alien attack that wiped out the majority of their population. They did not know who the aliens were, but Voyager 's first officer , Commander Chakotay , discovered evidence of their identity: the Borg .
The surviving Sakari retreated into the caves beneath their planet and set up systems to try and hide their existence in case of future attacks. This was only partially successful, and the crew of Voyager helped them improve the process in exchange for gallicite . During this encounter, the Sakari demonstrated an impressive ability to camouflage themselves against their surroundings. ( VOY : " Blood Fever ")
In 2384 , Lieutenant jg Barniss Frex initially guessed that Dal R'El might be a Sakari, before settling on Talaxian – neither were correct. ( PRO : " Asylum ")
