Visit the incredible Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.

Home to the famous El Castillo pyramid, Chichen Itza is a must-see attraction in the Mexican Caribbean and you will be in awe of the majestic structures and surrounding jungle.

Built between 1,000 and 1,200 AD, it is one of Mexico's largest Mayan sites and you can get there from Cozumel on a 45 minute scenic flight.

Save hours of travel time by flying, and even cruise passengers here for one day have time to visit and get back to their ship in plenty of time before its departure.

You'll be picked up at your cruise terminal or accommodation and transferred to Cozumel airport to begin your truly amazing excursion.

Enjoy a scenic flight over the Yucatan Peninsula in a small aircraft in both directions, flying low enough to enjoy spectacular views. A close flyover of the ruins can't always be guaranteed as it depends on conditions and air traffic control on the day, but the pilot will always try to get you as good an aerial view as possible before landing at Chichen Itza's airport, where you will be transferred to the ruins.

Your professional, English-speaking archeological guide will be waiting to take you on a private guided tour around the incredible Mayan ruins.

Listed as an official UNESCO World Heritage site, this site was one of the greatest Mayan centres of the Yucatan peninsula. Over almost 1,000 years, different peoples left their mark on the city with incredible stone monuments and artistic works.

The mix of construction techniques and colorful history make Chichen Itza one of the most important archeological sites in all of Latin America.

As well as the iconic pyramid, many sacred buildings have survived, such as the Warriors’ Temple and the circular observatory known as El Caracol.

After about 2 hours at the ruins, if you wish, you can also add an optional stop at a cenote (natural sinkhole pool) for Mexican buffet lunch, swim and relax after the ruins for an additional $30 per person (allow an extra hour in this case, making the total tour time approximately 7 hours in total).

Finally, you'll be transferred back to Chichen Itza airport where your plane will be waiting for you for the return flight to Cozumel.

At the end of the tour you'll be transferred back to your accommodation or cruise terminal in Cozumel.

Cruise ship passengers

Our usual "no port, no pay" policy does NOT apply to this tour. If your ship cancels its stop in Cozumel and you don't tell us or we don't find out until less than 24 hours before your tour, we will only refund you 50%, not 100%. However, if your ship cancels it stop and you tell us or we find out more than 24 hours ahead, we will still refund you 100%. Our usual reservation policy still applies for cancellations for any other reason.

Although it is a domestic Mexican flight, valid passports still need to be shown by all passengers. Failure to show them may result in your tour being cancelled but you will still be charged in full.

Scuba Divers

The flight from Cozumel to Chichen Itza and back has a height of 1,500 - 2,500 feet, which is a low flight. To be extra sure there are no problems for divers, the local hyperbaric chamber recommends 12 hours between your last recreational, no-decompression dive and the flight to Chichen Itza. Normal dives on Cozumel are no-decompression dives; you can enjoy a normal day of diving before taking the Chichen Itza by Air Tour. You should be out of the water at 7 pm the day before the flight; night dives are not recommended on the night before this tour.

Chichen Itza , one of the seven wonders of the world, its a tour you can´t miss during your stay in the  Mexican Caribbean , Chichen Itza city was the most important  city of the Mayan área of the  Yucatan Peninsula , in the Classic period and the beginning of Post Classic. When Spaniards arrived, it was the most visited center of cult and pilgrimage of Yucatan Peninsula.  Chichen Itza  and the Cenote of Sacrifices were, and still are, sacred centers for the Mayan.

This is a Cultural Heritage Zone of Mexico, and due to its importance was inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage list in 1988.

The Pre Hispanic city of Chichen Itza is  a tourist destination visited each year by more than a million people. The most prominent building of the metropolis, Kukulcan Pyramid, known as El Castillo, has become an emblem of the Maya culture all over the world.

Other importat buidings in this site are: the Temple of the Warriors, the Observatory, the Temple of the Thousand Columns, the building for  the ball game.

The cenote ikil, the second stop of the tour is located 10 minutes away from the ruin son the way back to the airport.

The cenote  is open to the sky with the water level about 26 metres (85 ft) below ground level. There is a carved stairway down to a swimming platform. The cenote is about 60 metres (200 ft) in diameter and about 40 metres (130 ft) deep.  There  is a circular Stone Wall with plants  which reach from the opening all the way down to the water along with small waterfalls.

The cenote is part of a larger complex of a restaurant, store, changing rooms, and cottages for rent. There is also a Mayan ruin on the site.

So here you wil have chance to refresh yourself in the waters of the cenote and have a meal after.

The sacred Cenote was of utmost importance in Mayan rituals, since it is said that the greatest sacrifices were made here, in addition to throwing various pieces of ceramics and some jewels as an offering, which have been found during the various research processes. Due to its depth and historical value, it is not allowed to swim in it, it is fenced.

Another cenote near this archaeological zone is the Ik Kil cenote, which you can also visit on this tour, this cenote is located inside a restaurant where you will enjoy the exquisite Yucatecan cuisine.

• If the cancellation made by the client occurs 60 to 30 days before the rental date, the refund will be 80% of the total amount of the reservation.
• If the cancellation occurs from 29 days to 15 days before, the refund will be 50% of the total amount of the reservation.
• If the cancellation occurs 14 to 3 days before the refund will be 25% of the total amount of the reservation.

There are no refunds in the following cases:

• If the cancellation is made 1 to 2 days before the date of the service
• If the client arrives at the airport and decides not to leave
• If the client cancels a reservation made for the period from December 20 to January 6 or during Easter
• If the client does not use their reservation or contracted service
