Maldives Wildlife Package

The exotic wildlife in maldives.

The charming chain of an island in Maldives is rich in fauna, both aquatic and land and is also home to several exotic species. From fruit bats to green sea turtle, the island is rich with fauna. The outlandish and unique wildlife of Maldives is not only magnificent to witness but it also adds up to the beauty of the white sand beaches and clear waters.

  • Rays: The ocean waters of Maldives serve as home to several species of these gigantic aquatic animals. The Stingray, Manta ray and Eagle ray are the most common species of ray family that dwells in Maldives. One can take a boat ride in the ocean or go snorkeling to literary behold the deadly tailed creature in their natural habitat. There are also few resorts offering feeding sessions to rays which can be experienced.
  • Turtles: Since the island country has more sea than land, the aquatic biodiversity is more prominent here than a land ecosystem. With miles of water to prosper, uncommon sea turtles like leatherback turtles, green turtles, and Hawksbill turtle are found in abundance. One can witness these peculiar creatures swimming amidst the vibrant corals while scuba diving or snorkeling.
  • Whales and Dolphins: The dolphins come complementary when we think about the sea! The country of blue ocean houses some of the rarest dolphins and whales. The tourists can spot the playful beings like Bottlenose dolphin, Risso’s dolphin and Spinner dolphins while out on a sea tour. The tropical whales like Dwarf Sperm, Pilot whale and False killer whales can also be spotted during the voyage in the clear waters.

Baa Atoll in Maldives has been declared a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve for its rich coral reefs and animal sightings. The Hanifaru bay located here witnesses occasional gatherings of manta rays and whale sharks which engages a huge number of tourists every year. Though Yellow Tuna is the national animal of the island, the Manta rays surfing elegantly on the corals in search of food in Hanifaru Bay is enough to blow one’s mind.

Really enjoyed it! Good boat, good food, great snorkelling and also the CEO helped me so I could do a dive instead of snorkelling one of the days which I really appreciate. Could skip the beach clean up, not that its not needed but after collecting several of bags with trash the bags where just left on the island. Just left us all with a bad feeling, first of all seeing all the trash and then collecting as much as we could, was so much left though, just to leave it on the island in the end 🤷‍♀️. Maldives Uncovered Tour

Maldives Uncovered

We went on this trip in March 2013 and we had a wonderful time, as it was a great way to see such a beautiful place. The overall trip was excellent value and the itinerary enabled us to experience the Maldives in so many ways and also with a small group. We did both of the now optional extras and the crew on the boat were very friendly and helpful and the food was fabulous and in ample supply as well as variety to meet everyone’s taste’s. They also took us to great places for snorkeling which enabled us to see sea turtles, sting rays and even a shark not to mention the many species of beautifully coloured fish. We stayed at the Paradise Island resort and this was a lovely way to end the trip. We would not have thought to do such a trip and were glad that we took advantage of the discounts and booked it at the TNT Travel Show. We will definitely look to book a future trip with encounters travel.

Maldives Vacation | Packages, Costs, Trips & More 2024

Matt Davison

If you are craving an island getaway this summer, a vacation in the Maldives is just for you! With crystal-clear water and powder-white beaches, the Maldives is sure to make you feel like you are in paradise.

Located in the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is a small state of South Asia.  What most people do not know about the Maldives is that it is home to some of the smallest islands in the world, with approximately 1200 islands, only 400 of which are inhabited – either by the local population or tourist destinations such as hotels and resorts.

There are plenty of gorgeous Indian Ocean islands, including Mauritius and Seychelles. If you enjoy a sunny, tropical island getaway, then a Madagascar vacation is another item to add to your bucket list.

Trip to the Maldives

As mentioned before, the Maldives boasts stunning powder-white coralline beaches , which are extremely rare. Along with the shallow turquoise seas surrounding the islands, these stunning and tranquil beaches are the definition of a traveler’s paradise.

Maldives Vacation Packages

Planning a trip anywhere you have not been before can be daunting as there is a lot to consider – flights, accommodation, catering, activities, and more! Sometimes, as a tourist, it is advisable and helpful to look into travel packages.

If you are wanting to travel to the Maldives this year, here is what you can expect when purchasing a Maldives vacation package.

Maldives All-Inclusive Packages | Flights, Accommodation, Food & More

Travel packages usually include everything you can think of. From flights, accommodation, sometimes catering, and typically a few exciting tourist activities for you to enjoy during your stay. What you can expect from an all-inclusive Maldives package is more-or-less the same.

Accommodation

Most packages are centered around the accommodation you choose – whether it be at a hotel or resort. This ultimately determines your flight schedule, where you’ll be flying to and from, what restaurant(s) you will be eating at, and even what activities you might partake in. Your accommodation will be planned according to a certain number of nights – you can find packages for as short as one night and as long as three weeks or even more.

huts in crystal clear ocean in maldives

Not only is accommodation sorted, but a typical all-inclusive travel package also has your round-trip flights covered. Sometimes, airport transfers are also included – no need to call a friend (or an Uber) to take you to and from the airport.

The majority of hotel and resort packages will also include catering, but usually only ‘breakfast included.’ This is actually pretty ideal, considering you might want to explore the local restaurants on your own for lunch and dinner. However, if a travel package has the words ‘all-inclusive’ somewhere in the ad, then this means that all food and drink will also be included in your stay.

Once you have picked the hotel or resort you would like to stay at, you may be offered a few exciting activities to keep you busy while you are on the island. At your usual island destination, activities might include things like snorkeling, boat rides, and hikes, just to name a few. If you are already dreaming of what exciting adventures you might go on, here is a Maldives Travel Guide .

An added bonus that you can look out for when choosing your Maldives travel package is the very convenient ‘free cancellation policy. Especially during these uncertain times with COVID-19 and the back-and-forth with travel bans. You’ll want to have the reassurance that should something come up, you have nothing to worry about.

Some other minor but considerably necessary extras and add-ons that you might want to keep an eye out for include ‘free wifi’, ‘pool area’, and ‘gym facilities.’

Pros & Cons of Maldives Trip Packages

As with anything, there are always advantages and disadvantages. But we understand that sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. Here are the pros and cons of choosing a vacation package to the Maldives:

Maldives Island Blue Water White Sand Beach Holiday Vacation Travel

Pros of Maldives Packages

For starters, everything is pretty much organized and planned for you. As mentioned before, if it is your first time traveling to a certain destination, having a plan and itinerary given to you can be a major relief. Ultimately, choosing a travel package is stress-free!

Another pro is that there is a massively wide variety of travel packages to choose from – and almost all of them are guaranteed to be bucket-list worthy! No matter where you are planning to go, especially if it is a popular vacation destination, there are plenty of exciting travel packages to choose from!

And of course, choosing to travel with an agency and a holiday package often means you will get a discount. Consider a travel package an all-inclusive bundle, making it a cheaper option instead of sorting everything out for yourself.

Cons of Maldives Packages

Once again, everything is organized and planned for you. Although this can be a pro for someone who loves knowing exactly what is happening, if you enjoy being spontaneous, then this lack of flexibility might not be for you.

Another con of choosing a travel package is that most activities or tour stops are considered to be the most popular attractions. Although these are a real treat to visit, sometimes it is also wonderful to be able to explore the more unmentioned or even under-rated treasures of the island.

Travel packages are also largely popular and commonly used by first-time visitors and tourists. Therefore, sometimes your desired destination can become over-crowded – you might not be the only one dreaming of a Maldives paradise this summer.

Maldives Packages | Plan a Trip to The Maldives

green lush maldives island with resort of huts and crystal clear ocean water

Whether you choose to travel via a holiday package or decide to wing it in the name of spontaneity, you are guaranteed to have a memorable Maldives trip when visiting this popular and plentiful paradise.

If you are wondering what makes a good travel package, here are some guidelines on how to choose the right travel agency , whether it is for a safari holiday, a ski vacation, or an island getaway.

Well, there you have it. If the Maldives was not already on your bucket list, we bet it is now! Now all that is left to do is decide if you are going to go with a travel package, and if yes, which one? (There are so many to choose from!)

Scattered from the southern tip of India for hundreds of miles south and across the equator, the Maldives is a collection of tiny coral islands, all surrounded by warm, shallow, turquoise waters that teem with marine life.

There is very little here, but that is the beauty of it and your days will be filled with exploring the ocean, sleeping, sunbathing and eating amazing fusion cuisine. If this all gets too much, go for a walk around your island – this could waste an hour, go to the gym and build up your appetite, or head to the spa. After a few days of this demanding regime you will relax, you will start to walk more slowly and you will start to wonder how you managed to fit anything more into your day. The Maldives is the antidote to a hectic city life.

Further Insight On Maldives

The diving and snorkelling in the Maldives is incredible. In fact, you often don’t even need to snorkel – large colourful fish, rays, even reef sharks can often be seen off the beach or your hotel’s jetty. The water is so still and safe it is ideal for children or those who might be a little nervous at first, and yet the spectacular reef walls and deeper dive spots will also challenge the more adventurous.

The Maldives is wonderful for a honeymoon, for couples looking for R&R, but also for families. The beaches and water are very safe here, and the experienced hoteliers now provide brilliant facilities for younger guests.

Accommodation here varies enormously. The Maldives is well established on the tourist map these days, so you need to choose your island carefully to avoid a mass market holiday camp feel. There are dive islands, which tend to be lower cost and more lively and so attract groups of dive enthusiasts. Of the rest, there are a handful of four star islands, but most are five star and offer sumptuous bedrooms, glamorous spas and exquisite food and service.

Some islands offer all inclusive meal plans, others offer yoga and tennis, some are rustic and cool and some are all ‘bling’ and celebrity endorsed. If you don’t care to share, you can even hire your own island complete with a dive boat, butlers, and private chefs. We can help you choose the right island for you.

You will also have to face the biggest Maldives debate head-on – whether to go for a beach villa or a water villa. Everyone has a favourite. The Maldives is the ultimate beach hang-out for those who like their creature comforts but still to feel sand between their toes. It is paradise for a week or two.

We had an amazing family holiday (2 kids aged 10) and the service and recommendations from S&B were fantastic. Local Masai Wanderings guide (Clement) was brilliant, knowledgeable and friendly and a real joy to travel with. Everything went very smoothly which was a testament to the organisation by S&B. Many thanks to Nick and the team, we will be back!

When you book a holiday like this you know it’s going to be early starts and early nights, and on the go Inbetween. It is the most rewarding experience, and the mix of luxury and tented accommodation makes you appreciate both, the consistent is the level of service from all staff, and their inherent friendliness was an added bonus.

I am just back from Tanzania and wanted to thank you very much for a fantastic itinerary. I loved all the accommodation choices made, all the connecting flights worked well and the guide was superb. I had a great time and let me know if you want to get some more feedback on any of the properties suggested by you and also Pongwe Beach which excellent.

We had the BEST time! I have been struggling to put into words how amazing our honeymoon actually was. By the time we got to Selous Riverside Safari Camp it was after lunch so we’d missed the afternoon trip but we went on the river safari late afternoon which was brilliant, could only be discribed as breathtaking for our first few sightings.

Plan Your Trip: Maldives Vacation Packages, Overwater Bungalows , and Travel Information

The Maldives is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, deep blue seas, amazing reefs and palm trees.  Our Maldives vacation packages allow you to soak in the beauty of the islands.  It is also a place full of character, where its people have long spent their days languishing in the very essence of idyll living. While it is the perfect place to sit on a beach and watch a sunset with a cocktail balanced on your hand, it is also a geographical marvel, knowing that there are thousands of fish swimming around the vivid corals just a few feet away from where you sit.

The Maldives in two rows of atolls in the Indian Ocean, just across the equator. The country is made up of 1,190 coral islands formed around 26 natural ring-like atolls, spread over 90,000 square kilometers. These atolls structures are formed upon a sharp ridge rising from the ocean, making way for their secluded uniqueness.

Each atoll in the Maldives is made of a coral reef encircling a lagoon, with deep channels dividing the reef ring. A string of islands take their places among this atoll ring; each island has its own reef encircling the island lagoon. The reefs of the islands, alive with countless types of underwater creatures and vibrant corals, protect the islands from wind and wave action of the surrounding vast oceans. This unique structure of reefs and channels makes navigation almost impossible for the passer-by without sufficient information about these waters.

Ninety-nine percent of the Maldives is made up of sea. The people of the islands are widely dispersed across the atolls, with about 200 inhabited islands. About 90 islands are developed as tourist resort and the rest are uninhabited or used for agriculture and other livelihood purposes.

We will transfer you into the city and provide you with a brief orientation tour of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront before we take you up to Table Mountain to travel to the top of the mountain in the Aerial Cableway. We will do a guided tour of the Table Top to show you the magnificent views over the city and surrounding areas.

Today we explore the beauty of the Cape Peninsula traveling over the spectacular Chapmans Peak to visit the Cape of Good Hope and the historical Lighthouse at Cape Point.

We then follow the peninsula around the False Bay Coastline and stop of at Boulders Beach to view the colony of African Penguin that settled themselves on this small beach.

Our journey continues through the Naval Port of Simonstown and on to the traditional fishing village of Kalk Bay where we enjoy lunch at the Harbour House Restaurant located on the pier. We continue on to the Steenberg Wine Estate for a wine tasting before returning to your hotel located on the far side of the Constantia Wine Region.

After your leisurely breakfast we travel into the beautiful Cape Winelands making our first stop at a prison - not just any prison, but the one formerly known as Victor Verster which is where Nelson Mandela was released on a great day in the history of our great Rainbow Nation.

We continue on to the town of Paarl and the century-old KWV Wine Cellar to do a cellar tour ending with a tasting of their wines, fortified wines and spirits.

From here we go around the mountain to the Fairview Estate where you may enjoy a Wine & Cheese pairing of eight of their fine wines and cheese varieties that are all produced on this estate.

We continue on to the historical town of Stellenbosch where we do an orientation tour and you have time to explore the town and maybe grab a quick lunch before we go into the Stellenbosch Wine Region for our last wine tasting at the Simonsig Estate Cellar.

We then head back to Cape Town and drop you off at your hotel to enjoy the evening and your last night in Cape Town.

This morning you will depart from your hotel at 08h00 and transfer to the Cape Town International Airport for your 2.5-hour flight to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport near the regional capital of Nelspruit.

At the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport you will immediately transfer into the smaller Cessna Caravan Aircraft that takes you to the private Ulusaba Airstrip where your Ranger will be waiting to welcome you. The "transfer" to Dulini River Lodge is actually a Game Drive and the 15 minute drive could easily extend to one hour if you see some of the animals. You arrive in time to check in to your luxury suite and then meet for afternoon tea in the open restaurant area.

Your Ranger will meet you here and then take you out on the first of your wildlife viewing excursions in the open Safari Vehicles. During your afternoon Game Drive, your Ranger will find a suitable spot out in the bush where you may have a sun-downer drink and you will return  lodge after sunset for an expansive dinner before retiring in preparation for an early start tomorrow.

You will rise early today to have a warm beverage and cookies before going out on the morning Game Drive at sunrise stopping to enjoy coffee and cookies out in the bush. You return to the lodge and have a great cooked breakfast and then you have time to relax in camp and watch the wild animals move around in the river bed in front of the Lodge.

You may consider an optional Spa Treatment before enjoying lunch and a little siesta. You meet your Ranger again in the afternoon to go out for your evening Game Drive. You return after sunset for dinner and time to relax.

You will go out on two Game Drives today with your Ranger and Tracker team to explore the private game reserve in search of any species that you have not seen as yet.

After breakfast, you may arrange with your Ranger to do a guided Bush Walk to learn about the smaller creatures, tracks, and trails.

The amazing spa treatments are avilable to you for some personal spoiling.

You may enjoy your last Game Drive this morning in the company of your Ranger before returning for breakfast. Check out after breakfast and you will transfer to the Ulusaba Airstrip for your flight at midday to Johannesburg.

On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you may check-in for your flight to Male in the Maldives. You will be met by the Ayada Resort representatives at Male who will accompany you to the domestic terminal and you may board the flight to Kaadedhdhoo Airport.

This is a short flight of just under one hour. From the airport, you are transferred to the shore where you will board the launch for the boat transfer of thirty-five minutes to the beautiful Ayada Resort to check in to your spectacular Beach Villa.

Enjoy the beautiful Indian Ocean Island Resort of Ayada.

You have a complimentary wellness and fitness program that you may join, and you have complimentary use of all kayak and snorkelling equipment to fill your day.

Your breakfast and dinner is served at the Magu Restaurant while lunch is served at Zero Degree and Ocean Breeze restaurants.

Your safari and magical holiday in the paradise of Ayada Island come to an end today.

After breakfast you will bid the friendly resort crew farewell and take the thirty-minute boat transfer back to the domestic airport at Kaadedhdhoo to board the flight to Male.

On arrival do not expect drums and fireworks, as the smiles, the refreshing towels and the drinks at the reception are more than enough. Anchored in the North Ari atoll and shaped like a curved Dhoni (Maldivian traditional boat), Safari Island is a magical place where water and sand lie in contrast to the exuberant green foliage. Even in the Maldives, an island so perfectly formed as Safari is rare. The resort is lush, with wide sandy beaches surrounding the emerald green and is home to one of the most colourful and lively house reef in the Maldives. The island is tiny and cozy, but beautiful, and you can easily walk around in a few minutes. You understand you are in Maldeves in every moment with beautiful sea and sand.

A thread of 15 Semi-Water Bungalows run on one tip of the island. The opposite end is a jetty leading to 39 Water Bungalows. The 30 Beach Bungalows are on the island part in exotic green vegetation including palm trees. All the 84 rooms come with sea view.

Safari Island, overwater restaurant

One side of the island is a clear lagoon and a corals on the other. Greenery has more of some bushes than palms and mangroves. Lagoon part faces the west and has more privacy but is full of dhonies and boats coming and going. Eastern part has more 'Maldivian look' with better beach but is crowded and bungalows have less privacy. There is a small swimming pool close to the restaurant. Also a small library at the reception.  DOWNLOAD RESORT MAP

There are two sides of the island with beach villas - the one where the jetty is and the east side. Its more quiet with sun in the morning up to around 3.30 pm. The jetty side is quite loud as all the small sea planes lands there, but you get sun most of a day and even beautifull sun set. The east side is very quite and I personally think, much much nicer. Every day at 5.30 on the jetty side you can see sharks feeding if you are bored.

As for the clientele, when we were staying there were people from China, Europeans, Americans, Russians, Thais and other Asians. All kind of tourists, families, friends, young and elder couples.

Safari Island, main swimming pool

Ari Atoll is 89km in length and 30km in width and has 105 islands and is administratively divided into two parts: North Atoll Ari and South Ari Atoll. South Ari Atoll, a Protected Marine Area, remains one of the best places in the world to see whale sharks, which are spotted year-round on the outer reef, while North Ari Atoll is famous for its hammerhead sharks, although these are far more elusive and require deep diving to see. Most of the islands are home for the  luxury resorts while others are uninhabited, the rest are inhabited by local residents. The main occupations of Ari Atoll are fishing, sailing, harvesting and processing of corals.  READ MORE

The resort is situated on the beach of Mushimasgali Island in the Maldives. At Velana International Airport (Malé) you'll be met by hotel staff and helpe aboard seaplane. Air Taxi Maldivian will take you from Malé directly to the Safari Island in approximately 20 minutes. The scenic seaplane transfer offers an unforgettable bird’s eye view en route to this Island resort in Maldives.

Dream hideaway, intimate and magical setting; choose from one of the 30 Maldivian types of thatched, detached Beach Bungalows, 15 Semi-Water Bungalows and 39 Water Bungalows. All types of accommodation have direct sea view so that‘s super nice. Best rooms are the Semi-Water Bungalows as these have full privacy, are all South/Southwest (enjoy the sun all day) and are in front of the main entries/exits for the house reef snorkeling.

Room Facilities:

Beach Bungalows (45 sqm) Hot & cold fresh water, Bathtub with separate shower, Air condition, mini fridge, Satellite TV with flat Screen, Hair Dryer, Telephone, Tea/ Coffee making facilities, Wc, Luxury bamboo furniture, Sun Chair, Bathroom amenities ( Bathrobe, Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower gel) Wi-Fi available at cost.

Semi Water Bungalows and Water Bungalows (45sqm): In Addition to the Beach bungalow facilities, Glass bottom table, Backdoor to the private sundeck, direct access to lagoon and land.

Safari Island

Beach Bungalows on the Reef Side are our first recommendation: because you can easy get to house reef, on this side is also the restaurant and the bar, it is not so windy and the beach is also very-very nice. The other side, Lagoon Side, it is windy, good for sports for example, but there are also the Dhoni Boats to see and much more "action and sea waves". There are some Beach Bungalows on this lagoon side, with a thin strip of sand (rooms 110-112).  SEE ROOM № MAP

On the reef side, starting from the restaurant, Beach Bungalows 129 and 130 are very close to the reception, the next ones (120-128) have more beach in front of the villas. There is also the chance bigger that chinese people will "camp" for some hours in front of you, because they mostly book Water Villas. The others 120-113 have more vegetation - that means more privacy.

The Rooms inside are nice, wood mostly, sure they have "some years" but when you find something "damaged" remember, we go wet inside and bring a lot of sand and that is sure not good. Twice per day will be cleaned, so they are really clean, most of the time. The guests like the large window, or rather the entire frontal wall of glass and the sea can be seen directly from the bed. TV, tea, safe, canopy bed. The bathroom has two sinks, separate shower and bath. A covered veranda with two massive deck chairs and your own sun beds on the beach. Bungalows have direct access to the beach, sand is fine as powder, the entrance to the water is very safe.

Safari Island

Semi-Water Bungalows get the best of both beach and over water. Bungalow has an entrance from the shore, and the sun terrace is located above the water with direct access to the blue lagoon. Right opposite the bungalows a few meters away is the house reef teeming with a fish life. Living spaces bathed in warm natural light, perched atop the turquoise lagoon. A full sea-facing wall opens out to the spacious over-water terrace and the expansive lagoon beyond. Some people recommend numbers from 140 to 147 but they are far away from restaurant. If you are too lazy when you are hungry the closest ones like 133 are just perfect. Two great different feelings.

The Overwater Bungalows are smaller than most in the Maldives, but still larger than typical hotel rooms elsewhere. Each stylish residence features a glass-bottom coffee table with direct views down into the lagoon below, plus steps down into the lagoon from the private sun deck. With custom-made rattan furniture, wood floors, these rooms have a real 'wow' factor. Here you’ll also be able to choose between sunset or sunrise views. The furniture, the bathroom is renewed and all is clean. Water Bungalows have the privacy and the view is exactly the same as the photos. Cleaning is good. No complaints.

The Island is surrounded by white powdery, sandy beaches and crystal clear water lagoon and house reef which is attractive for snorkeling and diving with attractive diving spots.

Although you will find beautiful beaches all over the island - yes you can spot also a sandbags on Safari like everywhere else. You must have in mind, the resort try the best to save their island and the beaches for their guests. It is nature, not man's fault. Mostly sandbags protect the island on the northern tip close to Beach Villa 113 and 110-112.

The house reef is just minutes from the shore. Safari Island Resort is one of the few islands having house reef so close to the island. Despite the closeness to the reef, the opposite side of the island have no reef and just clear blue waters if anyone is interested. The lagoon is ideal for watersports.

Safari Island

Dining and Wining

The resort has one restaurant and three bars. Shaded with a magnificent white marquee, the Lagoon restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves food with buffet style, including lively Theme Nights. The restaurant and bars are also set over-water so you‘ll always have spectacular ocean views.

Table and a waiter for each room is reserved. Always ready and clean. Most of the time good meat and chicken are serve by generous portions. Food quality is overall very good, in terms of variety, quantity and most importantly quality. There is almost every evening something new to eat and tasty. Buffets are very rich with 6-7 different stations (Curries, Meat, Vegetables, Very Nice Salads, Pasta Experience Cook, Special Meet Cook, Top Deserts). The prices for Beers (4.50$) and Drinks (8$+) are fair. The special food also can prepare on request. The staff is very gentleman and helpfull. Snacks in the afternoon are limited to couple of types of sandwiches, there should be more alternatives, like salad. At for wine, is dissapointment as only one red, one white and one rose by glass. You should not miss the scheduled meals as there is no other alternatives. No room service. Room refrigerator needs to be filled by your selves.

Sunday night dinner is Maldivian/Asian night with a themed menu and Soups, breads and desserts are homemade and the fresh, tropical fruits are delicious. The buffet lines also include live action, cooking station which the chefs prepare your food as your preference. A Selected A La Carte Menu is available in the Restaurant which is chargeable. Restaurant opening hours: Breakfast: 07.30 - 10:00; Lunch: 12:30 - 14:00 (every Friday lunch at 13:15 - 14:30) Dinner: 19:30 - 21:00

Twice daily the restaurant throws fish scraps into the ocean, which lured in fantastic sea life: massive rays, eels, larger sharks than the usual swimming around everywhere, and more.

Safari Island, main buffwt restaurant

Palm is overwater bar set next to the main restaurant. Floating in the turquoise lagoon is the island bar where guests may enjoy drinks and spend leisure time. Open from morning until the last guest leaves, the bar also has a happy hours. The coffee shop at the main bar also serves a range of coffee, light snacks or special meals which can be enjoyed in the spacious environment, serenaded by the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze. Palm Bar will have a large bar counter, area with seating inside and outside deck, over the lagoon, facing Seaview. The bar has live musik once every 2 weeks on Monday and saturday diving movie by diving center team.

The sundown bar set on a wooden deck with a view of the stunning lagoon turns into a splendid a fair at sundown when nature paints a different scene every dusk. The golden sun sinks beneath the horizon casting a multitude of orange, red and pink hues across the sky and there is no place better to enjoy the show that at sundown bar, accompanied with a drink or two

Pool Bar serves drinks and snacks. All Inclusive guests can enjoy their entitled drinks here. The bar also hosts crab race on every Tuesday night. Guests can choose their own crab from the bucket of crabs and place them in the racing track where you win FREE Beers if your crab crosses the line first.

Fulfill your dream and take many selfies for Instagram.

House Reef Snorkeling

Snorkeling in the Maldives is a must and Safari's house reef offers one of the best snorkeling experience in this part of the country. The waters surrounding the island teem with brightly coloured fish and other marine life. The snorkeling is exciting and provide lots to explore and interact with. An easily accessible, the house reef is 7-8 meters distance from the beach and ideal for snorkeling and diving with live corals and many different kinds of sea creatures.

We have done snork every day for hours. No need to take additional tour, island is surrounded by corals. We have seen sea turtle, swam with sharks. If you stay at the resort at least 5 nights, you also receive a free(!), private(!) boat trip out to sea for even more amazing snorkeling.

Superb snorkelling can be done straight from the shore – from the jetty or via the cut-through by the overwater restaurant – and it’s worth booking one of the snorkelling trips to nearby thilas for the chance to spot manta rays or whale sharks. It takes a little longer to reach the best dive sites, but it’s recommended if you don’t mind the journey.

Scuba diving in Ari Atoll is relaxing, adventurous, sometimes challenging, and always stunning. After North Male, Ari (also known as Alifu) is considered the most visited atoll in Maldives, and this contributes to a high degree to the quality of diving. With white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, many divers rate Ari Atoll's sites to be the best in the country, and they also feature prominently on many Maldivian dive safari routes. Diving in Ari Atoll is not known for the brilliance of its corals. Rather, divers choose these waters for regular discovering pelagic species. Hammerhead sharks, mantas and other pelagics are more common around Ari Atoll, and even the mighty whale shark appears regularly, especially in marine reserves located in the southern part of the atoll.  READ MORE

The resort offers their guests a bespoke Island Vows services set on a secluded stretch of the beach of your choice. Safari Island, spa service

This resort hosts a whole range of reviews, some good and some less than ideal. Positive reviews detail a great staff that are consistently friendly, views that impress and great food. Negative reviews touch on difficult Wi-Fi, semi clean rooms and lack of a manager on-site to help answer questions and take care of concerns. It is important to keep in mind though that this resort is relatively new and complaints may be from kinks that will work themselves out over time.

Maldives Snorkelling Tours - Full & Half Day Trips

Maldives Snorkelling Tours (w/ Price & Itinerary)

The Maldives is located smack in the middle of the Indian Ocean, making it the perfect vacation destination for couples who value privacy. While luxury stays over azure waters are one of the biggest draws of this country, there are countless water-based activities to keep visitors engaged. Maldives snorkelling tours are at the forefront of seaside exploration.

The versatility of snorkelling in the Maldives will astound any traveller. One can snorkel right under one’s over water villa in a private island , explore the house reef of any public island, by signing up for an all-inclusive Maldives vacation package . For a luxurious experience you can even stay on a liveaboard to go on multiple snorkelling dives spread over many days!

Snorkeling, Sandbank & Sunset Cruise Trip

Snorkel in the sparkling blue sea with crystal clear water gently breaking on the pure white sands with gracefully swaying palms. Cool sea breeze whispering in the background, the lush greenery and a wide variety of flora and fauna made Maldives an ideal honeymoon destination .

Maldives’ weather remains quite balanced round the year. This makes it possible to snorkel whenever you visit this island nation. However, the best time of the year to visit the Maldives is November to January, which is the dry season. The scarcity of rain makes these months a time of great underwater visibility.

Take a look at some of the best snorkelling tours and dive sites in The Maldives.

#1 Coral Garden Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Coral Garden Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Suitable for snorkelling beginners, Coral Garden is a protected dive site with a minimum depth of 3 metres. The coral blocks have a gentle slope leading to a depth of 20 metres.

This dive site is highly recommended for those who want to see a lot of marine diversity just below the water surface. You can see both hard and soft corals here, along with other underwater beings such as schooling snapper, stingrays, moray eels and green turtles.

A snorkelling tour in the Coral Garden can easily be extended to include a sandbank dining experience on the nearest Maldivian island of Kuredu which is just 5 minutes away. Even if you happen to be on the isle of Komandoo , you can take a short 30-minute boat ride to Coral Garden to enjoy its reefs.

#2 Bodu Giri Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Maldives Snorkelling Tours

The Maldives is home to about 1,200 little islands , each combining to form a cluster called an atoll . Since most of this region is rich in marine biodiversity, you can only imagine the countless snorkelling dive sites that must exist here! Bodu Giri is one such site which is great not only for its shallow corals but also vibrant shoals.

Bodu Giri is about 150 km away from Male, the capital of The Maldives . Nevertheless, the world’s smallest capital is only a short seaplane ride away from most of the distance isles. The top reef at Bodu Giri is just 3 metres from the sea level. If you carry an underwater camera such as GoPro, you should be able to take amazing shots of the smallest folds in the corals with the help of a compatible gimbal.

Keep your eyes peeled for colourful marine species such as the big-nose unicorn fish, the butterfly fish, the napoleon wrasse, coral groupers, painted rock lobsters and the moorish idol fish. As you snorkel, you can also sight tunas, oriental sweet lips, blue-fin jacks, blue-striped snappers, neon fusiliers and yellow-back fusiliers.

Located in Maldives’ Lhaviyani Atoll , Bodu Giri’s abundance of coral columns is a result of its unique location which is protected from strong water currents. The underwater island is also able to sustain schooling fish. Do not miss the coordinated swimming display as you watch certain schools where each fish synchronizes its movement with the others.

#3 Huravalhi Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Maldives Full Day Snorkelling Tour

Huravalhi is another island that is a part of the Lhaviyani Atoll in The Maldives. You can either choose to stay at the opulent Huravalhi Island Resort or visit this island from any other Maldivian island on a yacht , a traditional dhoni or a speedboat. Around this island is a sheltered dive spot called Aquarium, which presents amazing half day tours to each and every one.

Aptly named, this place lets you experience an aquarium from the inside as you put on your snorkelling mask and swim away in search of exotic fish and enigmatic corals. The reef growth extends from as deep as 20 metres to a shallow 3 metres from the sea level. This popular diving spot in Maldives is perfect for beginners who are not accustomed to water currents.

If you are a fan of sharks , you will be excited to spot the guitar shark quite easily at Aquarium. Interestingly, these sharks clean their bodies by rubbing off any grime on a coral block. Don’t forget to take videos of unusual underwater activities of the marine life that occur here.

Turtles are not found everywhere, but Huravalhi Island is lucky to have some Hawksbill turtles that live off the sponge and algae that grow on the coral reef in Aquarium. You might also be able to see an octopus or two if you are lucky. These eight-legged organisms generally remain in hiding, but sightings are not impossible. Most easily visible are humpback snappers and blue striped snappers which are schooling fish that travel in groups.

#4 Kuda Giri Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Kuda Giri Maldives Snorkelling Tour w/ Price & Itinerary

One of the most popular snorkelling sites in The Maldives is Kuda Giri. This underwater island has an awe-inspiring collection of tube corals, sponges, starfish and orange cup corals. With an underwater visibility of 5 metres to 15 metres, one will find the waters quite clear as compared to other dive sites. If you have never snorkelled before, book a full day trip with the experts to do this in a safe and fun atmosphere.

Located in the South Male Atoll , Kuda Giri is easily accessible from the islands of Dhigufinolhu, Maafushi and Fihalhohi . This underwater island is rather small in area, but dense in its concentration of marine life. The table corals at the top are just 3 metres deep, making it well worth a dive even for snorkelers who are just starting out.

Among the numerous water fauna one can spot at Kuda Giri, scorpion fish, clownfish and green turtle are the most common. You might have to be patient to sight moray eels which often hide in the crevices of the coral walls. Triggerfish, wrasses, batfish, shrimp, glassfish and gobies can also be seen underwater. Shrimps and gobies often dwell together, the former harvesting sand for its home and the latter keeping a guard on it.

December to May happens to be the best time to snorkel at Kuda Giri which sees bouts of rain and choppy seas from June to November. The waters are usually warm and comfortable for staying underwater for a long time. However, if you are planning to snorkel in the evening or early mornings when the sun is not so warm yet, you should wear thermally insulated swimwear to keep you from getting the chills.

#5 Nakolhu Giri Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Nakolhu Giri Maldives Snorkelling Tour

Located in Faadhippolhu Atoll, or Lhaviyani Atoll , as it is more commonly known, Nakolhu Giri is a fantastic choice for spotting reef octopi. You can witness a unique phenomenon that the octopus uses to camouflage. It not only changes its colour but also shapes in an attempt to hide in the reef.

As you begin to snorkel at Nakolhu Giri, you will come across a flurry of glass fish. Sharpen your observation to sight mantis shrimps, crabs, ribbon eels and more. The top reef is 3 metres deep, a manageable depth for first-time snorkelers. The reef itself is in the formation of a wall in certain parts of this dive site.

#6 The Shipyard Photo Shoot & Snorkelling Tour

The Shipyard Photo Shoot & Snorkelling Tour

A unique underwater attraction in the Lhaviyani Atoll is The Shipyard. This snorkelling site is home to two shipwrecks, only one of which is accessible while snorkelling. You can see the other wrecked ship lying at the seabed at a depth of 21 metres from the sea level.

The Shipyard is a fantastic photo shoot location in The Maldives as one of the vessels is positioned vertically, making the bow jut out of the surface of the Indian Ocean. Both the wrecks are over 40 years old and well covered by corals now that so many decades have passed, besides the strong currents that have fuelled their rapid growth.

Most Maldives day tours include an option to explore the Shipyard with dedicated snorkelling time and photography sessions underwater. The snorkelling instructors are skilled at underwater photography and they ensure that each participant gets a chance to be individually photographed against the upright wrecked ship.

You can also appreciate the marine diversity of the Arabian Sea as you come across grey reef sharks, yellow sweeper schools, Napoleon wrasses, nurse sharks, butterfly fish, morays and damsels. Other sightings possible here are of stingrays, blennies, scorpion fish, emperor angelfish, glassfish and anthias.

Best Season to Snorkel in Maldives

Favourable conditions like high visibility and moderate temperature of the water makes Maldives a favourite destination for Snorkelling. The visibility of the water is especially good during the months of March and April just prior to the onset of the wet monsoon. It is up to 15 – 40 metres (50 – 130 feet).

The temperature of water, on an average is 25°C (77°F), thus making snorkelling much more enjoyable. Maldivian islands boast of varied and rich flora and fauna. There are around 70 different species of colourful coral reefs and more than 700 species of fishes and other aqua marine creatures constituting the aquatic life inside Indian Ocean.

The Maldives is like a paradise, not only because of its surroundings overland, but also because of the colourful mix of underwater fauna that the country is blessed to have. Snorkelling gives every traveller a glimpse into the mysteries of exotic life forms.

One can choose to explore deeper and take up scuba diving in the future, especially to see the pristine coral columns, beds and walls farther below. However, the unassuming charm and ease of snorkelling keeps visitors returning for more adventures in this island nation.
