Mandatory Health Insurance Law in Dubai

Large Boat In Dubai Marina By Skyscrapers: Visa Insurance Guide

In Dubai, health insurance is mandatory for all Emiratis and Dubai expats, as well as their dependents. The health insurance law was implemented in 2014 to reduce healthcare costs and ensure access to healthcare services.

As a result, employers are required to provide minimum health benefits to their employees, which include inpatient and outpatient treatment, emergencies, surgeries, medical tests, medication, and maternity care.

As a baseline, the employer must cover the cost of health insurance for employees , and additional coverage for dependents can be obtained through separate policies. Private health insurance is recommended for expats looking for more comprehensive coverage.

Violation of the health insurance law can result in penalties for individuals, employers, sponsors, or healthcare providers. It is essential for both employers and individuals to comply with the mandatory health insurance requirements to avoid any legal consequences.

UAE Residence Visa Requirements

For expats who plan on living and working long term in the UAE, a residence visa offers numerous benefits. The general purposes of obtaining a UAE residence visa are as follows:

Employee health insurance

UAE medical insurance law requires employers to offer their employees a basic health plan that has an annual premium ranging from USD $136 to $190 (AED 500 – 700) and a maximum coverage limit of USD $408 (AED 1,500) per person per year. This is not deductible from employee salaries; instead, the employer is responsible for covering it.

The plan must cover the following:

  • General practitioner visits
  • Emergency treatments
  • Specialists and surgical procedures
  • Investigative procedures
  • Maternity procedures

Expat health insurance

Expat health insurance provides expats with access to the best private healthcare in the UAE, with significantly shorter wait times. Furthermore, expat health insurance provides comprehensive coverage for a wide array of medical services, whether inpatient, outpatient, or specialist treatment.

One of the main factors that influences the cost is the duration of your trip. Longer trips may require higher coverage limits, resulting in higher insurance premiums.

Another factor to consider is the coverage desired. Different insurance plans offer various levels of coverage and benefits. It’s essential to carefully review the policy details to ensure that they meet your specific needs. Some plans may have exclusions or limitations that could impact the cost or coverage provided.

Additionally, the age of travelers can affect the cost of travel insurance. Older travelers may have higher premiums due to increased health risks. It’s important to disclose accurate information about your age and health conditions when obtaining a travel insurance quote.

Comparing different plans and providers is crucial to finding the best coverage at a reasonable price. Online comparison marketplaces can help you easily compare multiple insurance options and their costs.

It is not mandatory to have insurance when traveling to UAE. Still, getting insurance when processing the uae visit visa by arabiers is prudent because you never know what might happen. You mage get sick while in UAE, and the insurance will cover the treatment expenses.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country that features a variety of landscapes, contributing to the country's high level of tourism. These landscapes range from magnificent deserts to the mesmerizing Arabian Sea.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Ajman make up the federation of the seven Arab Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Deserts, pristine beaches, towering skyscrapers, and opulent resorts are some of the things that make this place famous.

In addition, the migratory birds that stop off on its beaches draw in birdwatchers from all over the world. Due to the weather in the UAE, tourists are more likely to suffer from heat strokes or heat exhaustion, which could lead to unexpected medical costs.

Almost all people who travel to the UAE will experience weather like this. In addition, participating in activities such as water sports or desert safari can put you in danger of being involved in an accident.

Where Can I Get Travel Health Insurance for UAE?

When buying a travel insurance policy, keep the following in mind:, will my uae travel medical insurance cover all my activities, travel insurance to uae packages, points to remember, key benefits of travel insurance for uae.

Is Having Insurance for Visit Visa in UAE Mandatory?

You may wonder why we recommend getting insurance when traveling to UAE, and here we will explain the benefits of travel insurance for the UAE.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is renowned for its tourism and hospitality, which brings visitors from all over the world. If you're considering visiting this place, you are designated for a thrilling adventure.

To ensure your time in the UAE is as stress-free as possible, purchase appropriate travel insurance before you arrive. The following are some of the most important advantages of purchasing a travel insurance plan in the UAE:

  • Medical Emergencies & Accidents
  • Trip disruption
  • Personal belongings loss coverage
  • Emergency evacuation or repatriation of mortal remains coverage
  • Hijack coverage
  • 24x7 assistance
  • Covid-19 Coverage Advantages

Aside from this, the specifics of your benefits package can be adjusted according to the plan. Add-ons like coverage for pre-existing conditions, coverage for loss of personal items, coverage for participation in adventure sports, coverage for pre-existing diseases, and coverage for house burglary insurance may be available under some plans.

Is Healthcare Expensive in the UAE for Tourists?

The healthcare system in the UAE is so highly regarded hence you won't have to worry about getting adequate treatment if you become ill or are injured while traveling to UAE .

However, with the exception of UAE citizens, there is a cost associated with receiving medical care. Individuals who do not have any kind of health insurance face extremely significant medical bills.

Remember that the additional cost of the insurance policy is only a fraction of what you may have to pay if you require medical care, so if you are considering whether or not to purchase travel health insurance, keep in mind this fact.

It is easy to get travel insurance to Dubai and the UAE. You need to contact a travel insurance company based in your home country or an online comparison marketplace such as Insubuy.

At Insubuy, you will also have the opportunity to compare several insurance policies and select the plan that best meets your requirements.

  • Get it in advance. Once you have booked your trip, purchasing travel insurance ought to be one of the first things you do, especially if your deposits are non-refundable and you are going to a country like the United Arab Emirates, which has a reputation for having expensive lodging options. If you are required to cancel, you will be eligible to receive some or all of your money back.
  • Conduct research and make a comparison of the various policies online.
  • Pay close attention to reading the entire policy, including any small print that may be present. If you do need to file a claim, being aware of the specifics of your coverage will prevent you from being surprised by the amount of money you are required to pay

Is Having Insurance for Visit Visa in UAE Mandatory?

That is entirely dependent on the activities that you have planned. Generally speaking, travel insurance does not cover high-risk activities because they are not considered low-risk. In addition, there are a lot of high-risk, exciting activities that you can participate in anywhere in the UAE, including Dubai. Still, they might not be covered by your insurance.

Skydiving, dune bashing, scuba diving, car racing, (indoor) skiing, and other extreme sports might not be covered under a standard travel health insurance policy, for instance.

If you intend to participate in activities of this nature, you should inquire with your insurance providers about the possibility of purchasing additional coverage for these endeavors.

A higher premium must be paid for an insurance plan to receive protection for high-risk pursuits, and even then, certain dangerous pursuits might not be covered.

Normal Packages

  • Rates range from 75 AED to 600 AED
  • Coverage is available in the United Arab Emirates (7 Emirates)
  • Cover is underwritten by Union Insurance UAE (Based in 7 Emirates)

  • Medical Reimbursement for Accidents and Sickness from USD 15,000 to USD 500,000
  • Benefits for evacuation and repatriation ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 200,000

Premium Duration

  • All claims must be reported within seven days of the patient being discharged from the hospital.
  • The insurance policy does not cover pre-existing medical conditions, regardless of whether or not the condition was disclosed by the policyholder, except for treatment received in an emergency room.
  • In an emergency, treatment received outside of the authorized network is only eligible for reimbursement up to the network tariff in effect. Our website contains a comprehensive list of authorized networks in its entirety.
  • The maximum age allowed for coverage under the policy is 75 years.
  • If the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities deny the applicant a visa or refuse the applicant entry into the UAE, the policy will be automatically canceled.
  • The policy is only applicable to travelers to the UAE who have a current visa for the UAE.
  • The insurance certificate cannot be transferred to another party, and there is no provision for a refund once it has been issued.

Eid Al Adha 2024: Is Montenegro visa on arrival for UAE residents?

Living in uae.

European adventure: Find out the conditions, required documents for UAE residents

Montenegro

Dubai: Thinking of a European Mediterranean escape during the upcoming Eid Al Adha or summer holidays? UAE expatriates can get visa on arrival to Montenegro, the small but vibrant European nation located on the Adriatic sea.

This captivating Balkan nation boasts stunning riviera landscapes, pristine sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, primeval forests and ancient architecture.

So, if this sounds like the perfect vacation for you, there are a few conditions and requirements UAE residents need to meet before they book their tickets to Montenegro.

For how long is the visa on arrival is valid?

“The visa on arrival scheme is only for a specific period which is from May 1 to September 7, 2024 . After that, the tourist visa is issued on a case by case basis,” Eva Kanani, an operations manager at Vas Tourism LLC, a UAE-based destination management company (DMC) that specialises in Balkan tours, told Gulf News

According to the government of Montenegro’s website - www.gov.me, UAE residents can stay in the country for up to 10 days on this visa.

The visa on arrival scheme is only for a specific period which is from May 1 to September 7, 2024. After that, the tourist visa is issued on a case by case basis. - Eva Kanani, operations manager at Vas Tourism LLC.

What are the conditions for visa on arrival, for Montenegro, for UAE residents?

Kanani explained that UAE residents are eligible for visa on arrival but they have to meet specific conditions first.

“UAE expatriates who have a valid residency permit continuously for three years before travelling to the country are allowed visa on arrival. It is also important to note that some UAE residents with specific nationalities are not allowed visa on arrival. They can apply for tourist visa through the Montenegro Embassy in Abu Dhabi,” she said.

The government of Montenegro’s website - www.gov.me, states that the visa on arrival decision does not apply to nationals of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Somalia and India.

She added that a direct return ticket to Dubai is also a requirement for getting the visa on arrival.

“As of now, the Montenegro government is allowing passengers flying with flydubai to be eligible for visa on arrival. The flydubai flights for Montenegro will start from June 14 . Flydubai is the only airline in the UAE that offers direct flights to Tivat but it is a seasonal route,” Kanani said.

According to the flydubai website, their summer season flights between Dubai and Tivat will operate from June 14, 2024 to September 7, 2024 .

“Another condition is to have proof of a paid tourist arrangement. This basically means that your trip should be organised by a travel agency. You will be asked to provide a receipt or document of the tourist arrangement. You must also have proof of accommodation,” she added.

She also clarified that sometimes visa rules and requirements can change, so it’s always best to check with the Montenegro embassy directly.

“However, travel insurance or proof of financial support is not necessary for UAE residents. We would suggest asking the embassy of Montenegro directly for specific information because rules can change,” Kanani said.

How to apply for a Montenegro tourist visa from the UAE?

If you are not eligible for visa on arrival, you can still go ahead and apply for a tourist visa.

“Montenegro is a popular destination for UAE residents because it’s a European country that is not in the Schengen zone, so the visa process is a little easier,” Husham Kattingeri, an outbound travel supervisor at Regal Tours Worldwide, told Gulf News.

Kattingeri explained that you can apply for a tourist visa through a travel agent or go to the Montenegro embassy to fill out the visa application form.

“It’s important to note that your personal appearance in the embassy in Abu Dhabi is required if the visa is processed and approved, and only then will they stamp the visa in the passport, which will be returned on the same day,” he said.

Required documents:

As per Kattingeri, these are required documents for the tourist visa:

• Passport copy and UAE residence visa copy. • Passport-sized coloured photo (35x45 mm in JPEG format). • Proof of accommodation. • Bank account statement for the last three months. • Return flight ticket. • Travel health insurance valid in Montenegro for the duration of stay. • Employment certificate mentioning monthly salary.

How long does it take to receive the visa?

According to Kattingeri, it takes 29 working days for the visa to be processed.

What is the validity of the tourist visa?

“There is no standard duration or validity for the tourist visa, it is decided by the embassy,” he said.

Cost – “The embassy fee for the visa application is Dh160 and the travel agency fee to complete the process can vary from Dh500 to Dh800 ,” Kattingeri said.

UAE citizens with a valid passport can stay in Montenegro for up to 90 days without a visa.
