Weddin Mountains Region

THE QUINTESSENTIAL COUNTRY HEART OF CENTRAL NSW

In the heart of Central NSW, the Weddin Mountains Region takes in Grenfell and the surrounding rural villages of Caragabal, Quandialla, Bimbi and Greenethorpe. The region offers up a taste of quintessential country Australia and an abundance of outdoor adventures with a good measure of authentic local hospitality thrown in.

The majestic Weddin Range juts dramatically from the surrounding flat agricultural plains and has long been a landmark or meeting point for those that have inhabited the land. Set against this magnificent naturally abundant backdrop, the region has inspired many including the Wiradjuri people, those eking out an existence on the gold fields, famous bushrangers roaming the hills and even the birth of one of Australia's most famous writers – Henry Lawson.

Whether you have your heart set on a sophisticated cocktail function or an elegant banquet, let us bring your dream wedding to life.

Our experienced and professional events team will guide you through every stage of the planning process, ensuring that you have a stress-free experience from beginning to end.

An event that reflects you

You can host your wedding ceremony and reception, or your reception only, at the Art Gallery. We’ll work with you to create an event – whatever the size or style – that reflects you and celebrates your relationship.

The restaurant and function room in our original south building, now known as Naala Nura, can host up to 116 guests for a seated reception.

For larger weddings, these two event spaces can be combined to accommodate more guests (up to 200 cocktail-style).

Additional event spaces are available in Naala Badu, our stunning new north building, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Tokyo-based architects SANAA.

Meers Hall can host up to 220 guests for a banquet reception or 350 guests for a cocktail-style event. MOD Dining can host up to 120 guests cocktail-style with a dancefloor.

Premium catering

If you’re wanting to simply enjoy your wedding day without having to worry about the countless moving parts, then you’ll be pleased to know we also provide a premium catering service .

You’ll also be making a difference

Venue hire at the Art Gallery contributes to bringing art to the community by funding Gallery programs. When you choose us for your wedding, you’ll be directly supporting the arts in Australia.

Judges' comments

The narrative trope of a lost child in the unforgiving Australian bush has been masterfully upended in Fiona McFarlane’s The Sun Walks Down . Set in the Flinders Ranges in 1883, McFarlane’s vivid tapestry of small-town characters — divided by class, religion, race and ethnicity — are deftly explored as they each react to the disappearance of six-year-old Denny in a dust storm. Denny, with his too-tight boots laced by his deaf mother, vanishes while his clutch of sisters attends a local wedding. As the ripples of his disappearance wash over the isolated township of Fairly, the frustration, pettiness, and longings of townsfolk, such as the hapless vicar, the wealthy widow, and Denny’s extended family, are detailed wonderfully by McFarlane’s quiet confidence and assured eye.

This is a sublime, insightful novel in which the harshly beautiful landscape enhances yet never overwhelms McFarlane’s superbly nuanced reflection of the complexities of colonial Australia.
