The Offspring, 3 Doors Down bringing concert tours to Phoenix this summer

PHOENIX — Get ready to rock! The Offspring and 3 Doors Down are bringing concert tours to Arizona this summer!

Celebrating its sophomore album, Away From The Sun, 3 Doors Down will be playing in Phoenix on July 18, 2023. The show will take place at Arizona Financial Theatre with special guest Candlebox. It's expected to be Candlebox's final US tour and final studio album set to be released later this year.

The 'Let The Bad Times Roll' tour with The Offspring , Sum 41, and Simple Plan kicks off just days before stopping in Phoenix at Talking Stick Resort on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023.

Show Review: 3 Doors Down celebrates 20 years of hit album on Away From the Sun Anniversary Tour

It was both an anniversary and a funeral at Arizona Financial Theatre this week with 3 Doors Down and Candlebox. A huge crowd turned out to celebrate the 20th year of 3 Doors Down’s classic album Away From the Sun while Candlebox is going out on their own terms after 30 years on stages around the world.

Candlebox’s victory lap was perfectly timed and beautifully received by the Arizona audience as they ripped through favorites from their catalog. Singer Kevin Martin got up close and personal with the crowd, throwing out handfuls of commemorative guitar picks and roaring the hits in their faces for 11 tracks. “Far Behind” and “Cover Me” were obvious favorites but the energy in the room soared for “Blossom” and new single “Punks” as well. The band capped off their final performance in Phoenix with smash success “You” and exited with all the flowers their career has richly earned them.

3 Doors Down has been a rock radio staple for decades and their celebration of Away From the Sun further cemented the band’s staying power. Fans of all ages, families and more crowded closer to the stage as the band kicked things off with “Pop Song”, a new number that still had everyone rocking out. The cheers intensified when singer Brad Arnold announced they’d be playing nearly all of the album, sprinkled in with songs from the rest of their extensive discography.

Even the most casual 3 Doors Down fan knows the words to “When I’m Gone”, “Here Without You” and “Not My Time” but it’s the songs that never hit radio that also made a huge impact on the audience that night. “Ticket To Heaven” had hands raised to the sky as Arnold made a heartfelt speech about combating feelings of loneliness and inadequacy that drew praise from starry-eyed fans.

After a marathon 16 songs and a journey through the band’s back catalog, they returned for an encore of “Landing in London” and “Kryptonite”. Even though we’re mourning the loss of one band while celebrating a milestone for another, the entire night was uplifting for the generations of fans represented in that room- here’s to another 20 years and beyond.

It has been 21 years since Escape From the Sun by 3 Doors Down has been released. Fans were excited to have a night out and celebrate 21 great years of music with other fans!

3 Doors Down was the headlining band of the night and ready to celebrate their music and the music that their fans loved! 3 Doors Down is a post-grunge/hard rock band from Escatawpa, Mississippi. The bands current lineup is made up by Brad Arnold-lead vocals, Chris Henderson – rhythm/guitar/backing vocals, Greg Upchurch – drums,

The first band to open up the night was Candlebox. Candlebox is a grunge/rock band from Seattle, Washington that formed in 1990. In 2000 the band broke up and reunited in 2006. The bands current line up is Kevin Martin- vocals, Adam Kury-bass/vocals, Brian Quinn – guitar, Island Styles – guitar/vocals and BJ Kerwin – drums. 

As they came onto the stage the fans cheered. Everyone was buzzing with glee, ready for a night of wonderful music.  Candlebox opened up with  “Don’t You”. Members in the audience sang along, soaking up every moment that they were experiencing. 

Martin interacted with fans from the very start of their performance. He moved all about the stage, singing to each side. The third song the band performed for their set was “Blossom”.  In the middle of this song Martin grabbed a handful of guitar picks and threw them into the audience. Everyone scrambled to catch one or pick it up off the floor. Guitar picks are one of the most converted souvenirs from a live performance other than setlists. Their performance was a perfect start for a fun filled evening.

The band came out onto the stage. Purple light cascaded across the stage creating a pretty highs of blues and violets. The band opened up with “Pop Song”. As soon as the set ended Arnold began to talk to the audience. He made jokes about the heat in Arizona and said that he’s a Mississippi man and is used to the heat but this heat was on another level! The audience clapped and laughed as he said this.

They then played one of their well known songs “When I’m Gone”, the whole audience began to sing along. Not one person could be seen just standing there. This was a song that everyone knew. Even if you didn’t know the title the minute you heard the lyrics you know what song it was. The whole venue vibrated with joy and excitement. The band also moves around the stage so they can be seen at all angles of the venue. 

3 Doors Down puts on a great show! This band truly takes the time to interact with their audience, making sure their fans have a memorable and interactive experience. 3 Doors Down ended the night with their most beloved and popular songs that skyrocketed them to the charts, “Kryptonite”.  The audience screamed the song at the top of their lungs with huge smiles on their faces.

This summer, 3 DOORS DOWN celebrates its sophomore album, "Away From The Sun" , by hitting amphitheaters in major markets across the U.S. for the "Away From The Sun Anniversary Tour" , produced by Live Nation . The band will be playing all of the songs from the album throughout the performances, plus all of their biggest hits. Artist presale and VIP packages are available beginning March 21 at 10 a.m. local time. The general onsale for the tour begins Friday, March 24 at 10 a.m. local time.

"Away From The Sun" features "Here Without You" , which reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was certified six times platinum in the U.S. The lead single "When I'm Gone" peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent seventeen weeks on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, becoming one of the longest-running No. 1 singles.

Special guest CANDLEBOX will support 3 DOORS DOWN on the "Away From The Sun Anniversary Tour" for what is slated to be the band's last U.S. tour to promote the 30th anniversary of the band and their final farewell studio album being released later this year by Round Hill Records .

CANDLEBOX will also perform at 3 DOORS DOWN 's 18th annual "The Better Life Foundation Concert" this fall. The event will take place at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina on October 21. To date, The Better Life Foundation has donated over $3 million to veterans, children, women, and humanitarian relief efforts domestically and around the globe.

" 'Away From The Sun' has always been a personal favorite of mine because of how much it resonated with our country's service members," shares 3 DOORS DOWN 's Brad Arnold . "We are so blessed to be able to celebrate these significant milestones because we were very young making these albums, and we still have so much more life to give our fans." Arnold continues, "The show we are planning will be next level this year. It's going to be incredible to have CANDLEBOX on tour with us. I've been a fan of theirs since I was a teenager."

3 DOORS DOWN will also star in season four of television's most successful nationally syndicated music-driven series "The Song" on March 25. "The Song" takes a quintessential look at the indelible legacies of celebrated recording artists and the music that made them famous. "The Song"  airs on major network affiliates in 150 markets across the country.
