Walt Disney World VIP Tours – How to Get the Celebrity Treatment!

cinderella castle at magic kingdom

Although there are several unique tour experiences at Walt Disney World, the private VIP Tours are the best way to experience the four theme parks! If you've visited the Disney World theme parks before, you may have noticed the private tour groups led by the Cast Member tour guides wearing their signature plaid outfits.

Disney World VIP tours last seven or more hours and take a group of up to ten guests on the ultimate Disney World experience catered to their preferences. The VIP Tour team will preplan your VIP Tour based on which parks, rides, and shows you want to see! VIP Tour groups also get to bypass the standby queues and eliminate the need for Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane reservations.

We visit Disney World weekly and have first hand knowledge of the special tours and experiences guests can enjoy at Disney World. In this article, we will go over everything that is included in a Disney World VIP Tour, pricing, as well as other available tours at Disney World. Additionally, you can check out our firsthand review of the Disneyland private VIP Tour here!

What's Included in a Disney World VIP Tour?

rise of the resistance

Disney World VIP tours include the best of the best when it comes to perks and experiences. Although the price of the Disney World VIP Tours is significantly high when compared to other tours (more on pricing below), you definitely get what you pay for! From the knowledgeable VIP tour guides that go above and beyond, to access to lightning lane for the parks' most popular attractions, the Disney World VIP tours are the ultimate Disney experience!

Disney World VIP Tour Guide

VIP Tour Guide at EPCOT

The Disney World VIP Tour Guides are easily the best part of the VIP Tours! They go above and beyond with each tour group to make sure they receive the best possible experience during their tour.

VIP Tour Guides are extremely knowledgeable on the Disney World parks, and will share little known secrets and hidden details throughout the parks. They also provide incredible customer service! I often see them holding their group's backpacks while they ride rides or waiting in line to grab waters and snacks for the group. The VIP Tour Guides aren't just there to guide you around, they are passionate individuals who want to make your tour experience absolutely perfect in whatever way they can.

Access to Lightning Lane Queues for Popular Attractions

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Lightning Lane

Aside from the amazing tour guides, many choose to splurge on a Disney World VIP Tour in order to save time in the parks waiting in line for attractions. The price of a VIP Tour includes pre-planning the day to ensure they get to experience every attraction and show they want throughout the day.

Even though guests have to pay for Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes, it's not always guaranteed you will get reservations at all of the rides you want to experience. Additionally, the normal Genie+ service limits guests on how many they can book. However, the sky is the limit during Disney World VIP Tours, because the groups can experience as many attractions as they want during their tour, without the need to purchase Genie+ or worry about which times are available.

Check out the best attractions at Magic Kingdom , Hollywood Studios , EPCOT , and Animal Kingdom .

Private Transportation Between the Parks

disney world bus

Paired with unlimited Genie+ options, guests can save tons of time with the private transportation that is provided during Disney World VIP Tours. Tour groups are driven via private shuttle from park to park. Although Disney World offers free and convenient transportation throughout the Disney World parks and resorts, it can take a while to travel between parks.

In addition to the private transportation, VIP Tour guests get to bypass the normal entrance to the parks and get dropped off in backstage areas that put them immediately inside the park.

The private transportation is another reason that makes Disney World VIP Tours extra magical by saving huge amounts of time traveling to and from each of the parks throughout the day.

Reserved Seating for Parades and Fireworks

Fantasmic Hollywood Studios

Disney World VIP Tours also include reserved seating for the amazing parades, fireworks, and nighttime spectaculars throughout Disney World. Although not always guaranteed and subject to availability, the VIP Tour team will do their best to accommodate any requests. Additionally, guests can take advantage of this reserved seating even if their VIP Tour has already concluded for the day.

Free Snacks

Mickey Pretzel

Although meals are not included in the price of a Disney World VIP Tour, the tour guides will provide snacks! The snacks provided on a VIP tour typically consist of Mickey pretzels, ice cream bars, water bottles, and popcorn. Guests are also welcome to bring their own food on their tour.

Disney World VIP Tour Pricing

Tron at Magic Kingdom

Although the Disney World VIP tours are amazing in their own right, the price of these tours is extremely high. These tours cost range between $450 and $900 per hour , depending on the season. Additionally, all VIP Tours must be booked for a minimum duration of seven continuous hours . The VIP tours may include up to ten guests, which includes infants and children. Although not required, it is also customary to tip your tour guide for the amazing experience that they provide. Tour guides go all out during these experience with their shared knowledge, as well as doing everything to make the tour enjoyable. VIP Tour groups typically tip their tour guide 20% of the total cost of their tour.

Therefore, if you plan on booking a Disney World VIP Tour, expect a minimum cost of  $3,150  (plus tax and tip).

Also of note, the Disney World VIP tours do NOT include the price of park admission. For those who are not Disney World annual passholders , the cost of the park admission is another added cost to the VIP Tour.

Other Tours and Special Experiences at Disney World

The Land

The Disney World VIP tours are not the only options for amazing tour experiences at Disney World. Although they don't offer the same level of benefits as the VIP tours, there are several worthwhile tours at Disney World that will cost significantly less than the VIP tours. Read more below to learn about some amazing tours that you can add to your trip! Please note, none of these tours include the cost of park admission.

Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour

cinderella castle at magic kingdom

In my opinion, the Keys to the Kingdom Tour is the best tour at Disney World when it comes to value. This five hour experience costs between $129 and $149 per person and includes an in-depth tour of the Magic Kingdom. This tour also includes a delicious lunch which is covered under the total price.

The coolest thing about this tour is being to walk through the infamous underground “Utilidor” tunnels which allow Cast Members to travel beneath the park without being seen. Guests will also learn hidden secrets about classic Magic Kingdom attractions, while getting to skip the line and experience popular rides such as Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise.

The tour guide will share the story and vision of Walt Disney, little known trivia and facts about the designing of Magic Kingdom, and so much more. Although the Keys to the Kingdom tour is more informative compared to the VIP tours which focus on experiencing all four parks, it is still an awesome experience that I personally recommend.

Wild Africa Trek

wild africa trek tour at animal kingdom

For animal lovers, the Wild Africa Trek tour at Animal Kingdom is a must! For $219 per person, guests will embark on a three hour private expedition and get up close experiences with exotic African wildlife. African-inspired snacks are also included after the trek such as pita and hummus, prosciutto and mozzarella, and chicken wraps.

This tour is truly an adventure! Guests will cross a rope bridge through the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction, ride in a safari vehicle over the savanna, and see Animal Kingdom in a completely new and exciting way. Guests will also receive a complimentary souvenir and photos taken throughout the experience.

The Wild Africa Trek is very different compared to the VIP tours in terms of experience, especially being limited to the Animal Kingdom park. However the cost is significantly less and is still a unique way to experience Animal Kingdom.

Behind the Seeds Tour

behind the seeds tour at epcot

Another fun and low cost tour at EPCOT is the Behind the Seeds Tour . For only $39-$45 per person, guests are taken on a backstage tour of the The Land Pavilion and learn about the future of agriculture. This one hour tour takes guests on a tour of the fish farm and four greenhouses within The Land Pavilion.

These tours are usually pretty easy to book as they take place multiple times per day. This tour is obviously less expensive and does not offer the same benefits of VIP tours, but is another great option if you're looking for a great low cost tour experience.

Disney World VIP Tours – Are They Worth It?

Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios

With all things considered, Disney World VIP Tours can be worth the cost, especially for parties who have a large budget and want to make the most of their time at Disney World. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience that many will likely either never experience or perhaps get the chance with a large group to split the cost once or twice. There's a running joke that many people assume people with VIP Tour guides are either celebrities or are in the wealthy 1% of the world.

The VIP Tours are often out of guest's budgets and honestly, you don't need the VIP Tour experience to have a great Disney World vacation. There are many ways to get the most out of your trip without spending thousands of dollars on a VIP Tour. At Mickey Visit we share tons of tips and tricks on how you can avoid long lines for popular attractions and experience virtually everything you want on your next trip to Disney! To start, check out our strategies at Hollywood Studios , EPCOT , Magic Kingdom , and Animal Kingdom !

Everything You NEED to Know About VIP Tours in Disney World

By Lydia Storks 3 Comments

Are you hoping to have the best day ever in Disney World during your visit? Well, of course, you are!

star wars vip tour disney world

We can’t blame you for wanting the best vacation ever!

You’ve saved and planned for months to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth, and you’ll definitely want to experience as much as you possibly can. One of the ways to get a LOT accomplished in a little amount of time is a VIP tour , and if you’ve ever been interested in this offering, we’re breaking down what all the experience entails!

What is a VIP Tour?

A Disney World VIP tour is a paid, add-on experience where guests will be guided through the park(s) by a knowledgeable Cast Member. During your visit, you’ll get the ultimate VIP treatment — including a customizable itinerary, backstage transportation, and front-of-the-line privileges at attractions.

star wars vip tour disney world

Magic Kingdom

Throughout the day, you’ll also be able to learn fun facts about Disney World from the guides, seeing and hearing about details that only Disney insiders know. If you’re a Disney history buff or you’re looking for the most luxurious way to spend the day — this could be just right for you!

What Happens Before You Go

When planning a VIP tour, there are a few things to note. First, you’ll need valid theme park admission, and that’s not included in the cost of the tour. If you want to visit multiple theme parks during your tour, you’ll need to purchase Park Hopper tickets.

star wars vip tour disney world

Also, Disney Park Pass reservations are still required for entry on a VIP tour day. You’ll have to make a reservation for every member of your party at the first park you plan to visit.

star wars vip tour disney world

Animal Kingdom

As far as the tour itself goes, you must book for at least 7 hours, and your party can have up to 10 people. The cost ranges from $425 to $850 per hour , depending on the season. (Remember that you can split that cost with the people in your party, so gathering a bigger group may be a good thing!) You’ll also want to budget for the optional gratuity — it’s just nice to tip your guide.

What Happens On the Day of Your Tour

Even though you’re a “VIP” for the day, you’ll still have to follow certain rules when in the parks! You won’t be able to use cameras, phones, or recording equipment in any backstage areas of the park that you visit.

star wars vip tour disney world

You’ll only be able to take pictures in regular guest areas.

Also, children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult , so don’t plan for your kiddos to go on this tour alone!

Pickup and Travel

At the beginning of your day, you can schedule a pickup from your Walt Disney World accommodations . (Keep in mind that your hotel price is not included in the cost of the tour, either.) The clock starts on your day at your scheduled pickup time, so you’ll want to be on time for this meet-up.

star wars vip tour disney world

Hotel stay not included!

If you’d prefer to save a little time and meet your guide at the parks, you can do that as well, starting your tour later in the day. Either way, you’ll be chauffeured around to your chosen locations throughout the day in your own private transportation vehicle. You’ll park in backstage areas instead of the regular parking lots and enter through private park entrances. How fancy!

star wars vip tour disney world

You’ll get to skip the public parking lots!

One of the best parts about a VIP tour is being able to skip the long wait for your favorite attractions. When you arrive at your selected ride, you’ll be directed through the Lightning Lane queue to skip the standby line and get to the front much faster.

star wars vip tour disney world

Ready to skip the line?!

If the attraction doesn’t have a specified Lightning Lane, then you’ll be able to skip the entire line — what a treat!

Keep in mind that if you’re touring for 7 hours, you’re likely going to need to stop and eat. Meals are not included in the cost of your tour, so you’ll want to budget accordingly.

star wars vip tour disney world

Don’t forget to stop and eat!

To save time, it’s probably best to dine quick service on your VIP tour day . Your guide may also give you complimentary snacks and drinks throughout the day, like water bottles, popcorn, and Mickey Ice Cream Bars.

The Cast Members/Tour Guides

The Cast Member guides themselves are (in our opinion) the best part about the tour! They’ll be able to share insider knowledge and facts about the parks throughout the day, and you can ask them questions about how things work in Disney World.

star wars vip tour disney world

Disney Cast Members are extra special!

Walking around the parks and into attraction queues with s omeone who can point out all the little details and backstory can really enhance your time at Disney World!

Is a VIP Tour Worth the Cost?

That’s entirely up to you! It’s a LOT of money, but you’re really paying for the ultimate Walt Disney World experience. You’ll get expert knowledge, fast transportation, and you’ll be able to avoid waiting in long lines.

star wars vip tour disney world

No need to wait in long lines!

If you’re visiting Disney World for a short amount of time, you could easily knock out quite a few attractions in one day with a VIP tour and get more done than you would be able to otherwise. You may be able to work it into your budget if you split the cost between a party of 10, rather than take the tour with a small group. The service you receive throughout the day will be unparalleled, and it’s hard to put a price on that!

star wars vip tour disney world

You could have a really “magical” day!

However, you definitely don’t NEED to do a VIP tour to have the “perfect” day at Disney! Here at DFB, we specialize in helping guests with all the tips and information they need to know before their trips, and if you walk into your vacation well-informed and prepared , you’ll be able to accomplish much more. If you’re heading to the parks soon, make sure to check out our planning guides and our YouTube channel in addition to following the blog — we’ve got tons of advice to share!

Kind of makes me sad. Everyone in line gives these customers the side eye as they advance past everyone to the front of the line. Disney ought to be more egalitarian and not allow these kinds of services to celebrities or other customers regardless of their wealth.

Quite honestly, if I had the money I would do this for my daughter. We took her to the magic Kingdom for her 6th birthday. It was so crowded she only went on 1 ride. She should have had a magical day. Sadly it was frustrating and boring for her.

Guests With Walt Disney World VIP Tours Can Ride Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance Without A Boarding Group

Boarding groups are not always easy to come by for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As of tomorrow, it will be slightly easier to ride the attraction…at least for those on a Walt Disney World VIP tour.

star wars rise of the resistance disneyland

Beginning on July 11, 2021, guests who are on a VIP tour at Walt Disney World will not need a Boarding Group to ride Rise of the Resistance. Guests on the tours will only be able to ride once per day, but they will not need to fight to get into the virtual queue.

Make sure to get in touch with  My Mickey Vacation Travel   so they can give you even more details and take all the stress out of planning to create the magic for you.

A Review of the Star Wars Guided Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

star wars vip tour disney world

Even though we still have some time to wait for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there are already so many Star Wars attractions, characters, and entertainment that can be enjoyed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. What you may not know about is Disney offers a Star Wars Guided tour is a way to take your Star Wars experiences to a whole new level. We recently enjoyed this tour. Catch all the details below.

1 – Star Wars Guided Tour

The Star Wars Guided Tour is a relatively new option that is offered six days a week (it is not offered on Sunday) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The tour features all of the Star Wars action that can be enjoyed at the park. The six-hour tour covers a lot of attractions, entertainment, characters, and more and has exclusive perks that make it compelling for guests. The cost of the tour is $99 with tax for both children and adults (DVC Annual Passholders and Disney Visa members currently receive a 15% discount). Admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is not included and must be purchased to take part in the tour. The tour begins at 8:00 am (which is usually an hour before park opening), which means you’ll get a jump on your day at the park. Upon check-in, you’ll receive a tour lanyard with your name on it and an audio device that you’ll wear during the tour so you can easily hear the tour guides. Two tour guides offer Star Wars history, tidbits, and secrets, that enrich the experience.

2 – Star Tours-The Adventure Continues

The first stop on the tour is Star Tour-The Adventure Continues. You’ll hear the history of how Disney and George Lucas began their partnership with this attraction. We learned a lot about the attraction. Since the park was not open yet to day guests, we spent considerable time in the queue area where our tour guide pointed out many Easter Eggs and secrets. Next time you’re in the queue, be sure to look at the numbers on some pipes. One has the date of Harrison Ford’s birthday, and another has the birthday of James Earl Jones. We also learned why other numbers were chosen throughout the queue area—all had a significance of some kind. It was great to learn more about the attraction from the knowledgeable tour guides. Finally, we were able to ride the attraction with no wait.

3 – Star Wars : Path of the Jedi

Our next stop was to watch the short film,  Star Wars : Path of the Jedi. This attraction is helpful for those who may not know much about the Star Wars film series. It retells the movie saga (through the Last Jedi) and hints at what to come. This attraction operates seasonally and was not open today guests the day we took our tour. So, for that day, it was the only way to be able to view it.

4 – Star Wars Launch Bay

Our next stop was at Star Wars Launch Bay. By now the park was open to day guests, and each of the Star Wars characters had wait times of about 15 minutes. Our tour group was split up into three groups, and we rotated, visiting the characters. Since the tour gave us VIP access, we didn’t have to wait to meet the characters. We met Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and BB8. These character greetings are always fun, and it was great to meet all three characters in the same amount of time you would meet only one.

After the character greetings, we watched the short film in the Launch Bay Theater: Meet the Makers. This short film focuses on the filmmaker’s experiences. Recent updates include interviews and clips from Solo: A Star Wars Story. We expect the film to be updated later this year as we get closer to Episode IX.

Next, we toured the props of Star Wars Launch Bay, while our tour guides gave us more history and secrets behind the props and items that are in there. While you can certainly tour this area on your own, I did learn a lot more about the items that gave me a greater appreciation for what goes into the Star Wars films.

5 – The March of the First Order

We were then taken to the spot where the March of the First Order begins. Included in the tour is the ability to march behind the Storm Troopers. After they passed us, we fell in behind them and walked up Hollywood Blvd. It was the closest thing we’ll get to be a part of a Disney parade! We then were taken to a special viewing area where we had a prime location to watch the stage portion of the show.

6 – Lunch at Backlot Express

Next, we were guided to Backlot Express. Because we had given our order when we checked in earlier in the day, our lunch was brought out to us just after we arrived, which saves a lot of time. We were delighted to find some gifts waiting for us. We received a commemorative placard, a Star Wars Name tag (which can no longer be purchased), and a Star Wars drink stein—Darth Vader. The drink steins offered rotate, but you’ll always get a Star Wars character stein. We were also treated to two Strom Troopers coming to check our identifications and interact with us. We were able to get photos with them. Finally, we were treated to Star Wars churros as dessert. Currently, the Star Wars Guided Tour is the only way to get these churros. They are not available for purchase anywhere at Walt Disney World and only available in the California parks. It’s another tour exclusive!

star wars vip tour disney world

7 – Walt Disney Presents

After lunch, we went to Walt Disney Presents, where we were able to see the model for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and learn more about the upcoming project. We can’t wait for the land to open!

8 – Star Wars: Far, Far Away

Next, we arrived promptly for the stage show, Star Wars: Far, Far Away. Again, we had a prime viewing location, which we didn’t have to wait for. This show lasts about fourteen minutes and is a must-do for any Star Wars fan visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

9 – Jedi Training: Trails of the Temple

We then went to the courtyard of the replica of the Chinese Theater at the center of Hollywood Studios. Star Wars premiered at the original theater back in 1977. Families that had children who were taking part in the Jedi Training Academy left for their appointed show. The children were guaranteed a spot for the training, and the parents had a reserved viewing location. The Jedi Academy has always been popular, and having a guaranteed spot can be very important to families who want to make sure their Padawans get to experience the Academy. On the day we visited, the spots had been filled, and there was a waiting list. This is another tour perk for guests. Guests of the tour who don’t have children taking part in the Academy were free to go. I really liked how they scheduled the day to end with the Academy. Those not participating had the entire afternoon and early evening to enjoy the rest of the park.

10 – Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

Finally, the day ended with reserved prime viewing of the nighttime fireworks show Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. I observed regular day guests lining up for good spots an hour before the show. This is not necessary with the tour. You’ll be instructed when and where to return, and you’ll have those guaranteed great spots, giving you even more time to enjoy the park.

11 – Tour Exclusives

We’ve discussed what you receive on the tour. Here is a list of the exclusive benefits that you will get with this tour:

  • Star Wars history, facts, and secrets, from knowledgeable tour guides
  • VIP access to attractions and characters (no wait—you jump the line)
  • Guaranteed Jedi Training Academy for children 4-12 years old
  • A reserved prime viewing area for March of the First Order, Star Wars: A Galaxy, Far, Far Away stage show, Jedi Academy Training, and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular nighttime show.
  • March behind the Strom Troopers in March of the First Order
  • Star Wars churro—at Walt Disney World, it’s the only way to get it!
  • Commemorative certificate
  • Star Wars name tag (these can no longer be purchased)

I was very impressed with our tour guides. Not only were they knowledgeable, but they also did a fantastic job of keeping nearly 40 people together and on task. We arrived at our destinations on schedule. In particular, we arrived perfectly for the March of the First Order and the Star Wars: Far, Far Away show—we only waited about one to two minutes for these to start. They were also very helpful answer questions.

12 – Saved Time

Perhaps the most valuable aspect of the tour is the amount of time you’ll save, and that saved time should be a factor if you are considering this tour. You’ll get to start your day 30 minutes before park opening (unless there is Extra Magic Hours). You’ll jump the lines for characters, and you’ll save a lot of time since you don’t have to arrive early for prime viewing at March of the First Order, Star Wars: A Galaxy, Far, Far Away stage show, and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular nighttime show. Lunch is also brought to you almost immediately upon your arrival, again saving more time since even with Mobile Ordering, you’ll wait for food. After the morning portion of the tour, you’ll have plenty of time left in your day to enjoy the rest of Hollywood Studios. You can save your three FastPasses for the afternoon and enjoy everything else the park has to offer. And again, since you don’t have to arrive early for fireworks, you’ll have more time in the evening to enjoy the park.

13 – Final Recommendations

The Guided Tour is perfect for the ultimate Star Wars fan. You’ll get to experience every Star Wars attractions and entertainment with special access and benefits. You’ll get unique and exclusive benefits (listed in #11) available only to Guided Tour guests that you can’t attach a cost to. Whether this is “worth it” or not really depends on your goals while visiting Hollywood Studios and how big of a Star Wars fan you are. Yes, you can do almost everything on the tour on your own, but you should consider the exclusive benefits and the amount of time you’ll save on the tour. Like most of what Disney does, this tour is run well, has exclusive content, and is a real treat for any Star Wars fan. Call 407-WDW-Play to make your reservations.

At some point, in hour five of your day at a Disney park, you’re probably tired of standing in lines. The magic of Disney theme parks is undeniable, but when the sweat sets in and your feet begin to ache, you may be wondering if there’s another way.

The Disney VIP tour allows you to skip the lines with a dedicated tour guide and a custom itinerary. But, of course, it’s pricy, so let’s take a closer look at the Walt Disney World VIP tour, how much it costs and whether it’s worth it.

What is the Walt Disney World VIP tour?

Disney offers a variety of enhanced experiences for those willing to shell out extra money. This includes group tours and behind-the-scenes expeditions; however, its most premium product is the personalized VIP tour. The VIP tour isn’t just limited to Walt Disney World — you can also book these private tours at Disneyland and other Disney parks.

The VIP tour at Disney grants you your own Disney tour guide who’ll whisk you from ride to ride without waiting in long lines. In addition to this, you’ll also get special access to restaurant reservations and entertainment seating, including fireworks.

Disney VIP tours do not include park admission. You’ll have to pay for this separately.

You’ll tell your tour guide what you’d like to see and do, and they’ll plan the day. You can even park hop with the VIP tour, which means you’ll be escorted to another park in a private vehicle.

» Learn more: How to plan a trip to Walt Disney World

Disney VIP tour cost

The Disney VIP tour is costly and doesn’t include park admission. The rate for a tour depends on the season and the crowd levels. So just how much is the Disney VIP tour? Prices range from $450 to $900 per hour, and you must book for a minimum of seven hours. The price includes up to 10 people, including infants.

Be aware that cancellation policies differ across parks.

At Walt Disney World, canceling with less than 48 hours' notice will incur a cancellation fee of two hours at your booking rate.

At Disneyland, VIP tours are nonrefundable if canceled less than four days in advance.

Are Disney VIP tours worth it?

The Disney VIP tour is expensive. Although unlimited front-of-the-line access and guaranteed seating are nice, you’ll really need to budget for an expense like this. Let’s break this down using Walt Disney World as an example.

The cheapest rate you’ll pay for a Disney VIP tour will cost you $3,150. In exchange, you and up to nine of your friends will receive seven hours of unlimited front-of-the-line access, a personal tour guide, premier access to dining reservations and dedicated entertainment seating.

At this rate, the total cost of the tour will be $315 per person. So it’s unlikely that you’ll want to book a VIP tour for multiple days unless you’re trying to squeeze in as much activity as possible.

Use a credit card that’ll maximize your bonus points on your Disney vacation.

If you’re a large group with a relatively limited amount of time, a tour can help maximize your vacation. It’s probably best for family reunions, bachelorette parties or other family group trips for special occasions. These are the kinds of people who will be able to maximize the Disney VIP Tour.

You should probably skip the Disney VIP tour if you're on a budget, traveling in smaller groups or can afford to spend multiple days at Disney.

Disney VIP tour vs. Lightning Lanes

When comparing costs in the following examples, let’s say you’re booking the VIP tour for just one day.

In October 2021, Disney introduced the paid Genie+ system, which replaced the free Fastpass Plus program. Now, as of July 2024, Lightning Lane Multi Pass replaced the Genie+ system . All systems (despite different names) operates similarly, with the ability to book individual return times on most Disney rides.

The price varies per park, per day.

Sadly, Lightning Lane Multi Pass doesn’t include some of the most popular rides at each Walt Disney World park, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and TRON Lightcycle / Run. Instead, the fast lane for these rides is priced separately and available a la carte via Lightning Lane Single Passes.

You’ll need to pay per person, per ride, for attractions included in the Lightning Lane Single Passes. Costs vary according to demand. In addition, you can only purchase up to two single passes per day, subject to availability. So there’s no way to use the fast lane for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance continually, for example.

» Learn more: Lightning Lane Multi Pass versus Lightning Lane Single Pass

Under the old Fastpass system, a return time didn’t guarantee you a front-of-the-line spot. Instead, you’d experience a shorter, separate line from the main queue.

Now let’s say that your party of 10 has chosen to head to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom for the day. Naturally, you want to skip as many lines as possible, so you’ll pay for Multi Pass and Single Pass rides.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass comes out to $200 for the day for all 10 of you, assuming it's $20 for that park on that day. It’s a little more challenging to predict Single Pass pricing, but let’s say it’s an average of $15 per ride. Everyone rode all three rides available with Lightning Single Passes, two at Magic Kingdom and one at Animal Kingdom, which means you’ve paid $450 for the Single Passes collectively.

Altogether, you paid $650 to take advantage of Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, which will have granted you shorter lines at most rides.

There’s a massive difference between paying $3,150 for a VIP tour or $650 — one option is almost five times the price of the other. But, of course, you can also choose not to spend any additional money at all, in which case you’ll pay for park admission and elbow it out with everybody else.

The best benefit of the Disney VIP tour? Time saved

Consider the range of benefits you’ll receive when comparing a Disney VIP tour vs. Lightning Lane passes. Disney VIP tours give you a whole host of special perks, including one that’s almost impossible to find — time.

You’ll save time moving between parks in a private car. You’ll save time waiting for a good seat for the fireworks and save time in the Lightning Lane lines because a VIP tour jumps you past those who have paid for that luxury.

In this case, the Disney VIP tour makes a compelling example for those with limited time, especially if you can max out the tour group with 10 people. If you only have a day or two to experience the parks, why would you spend it waiting in the vast lines?

This is especially true when you consider the already high costs of a Disney World vacation, which can climb into the thousands of dollars for a big family and multiple days at the parks.

How to book a Disney VIP tour

For Walt Disney World, bookings can only be made by phone. So you’ll need to call the VIP tour office at 407-560-4033. The office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

If you want to book Disney’s VIP tour

There’s no doubt that a Disney vacation can be magical, but you’ll need to pay up to experience all that pixie dust. A Disney VIP tour is undoubtedly a splurge but can make sense for those looking for as much convenience as possible.

Before you book, make sure to do the math on costs and whether it is affordable. Otherwise, stick to Lightning Lanes to help re-create the experience at a fraction of the cost.

16 insider tips for living out your 'Star Wars' dreams at Disney

Brooke McDonald

When an entire land devoted to "Star Wars" opened in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland back in 2019, the domestic Disney parks became a must-visit destination for "Star Wars" fans.

But that was really just the beginning of a whole new chapter of Disney-fueled "Star Wars" experiences.

With the recent launch of the two-night Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World and more "Star Wars" experiences coming to Disney Cruise Line , there have never been more real-life opportunities to step into the world of "Star Wars."

If you're planning a Disney trip and "Star Wars" tops your list of entertainment priorities, don't just yell "Punch it, Chewie!" and head straight for the rides, or you'll miss countless opportunities to delve deeper into all the parks have to offer for "Star Wars" fans.

If the Force is strong in your family, you'll want to pack these 16 tips and tricks to live out your dreams of a galaxy far, far away on your next Disney vacation.

Treat Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge like its own walk-through attraction

It's easy to scan the attractions at Walt Disney World or Disneyland and quickly add the two Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge rides, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to your hit list. However, you should also consider this breathtaking land an experience to prioritize in its own right.

star wars vip tour disney world

As you enter Galaxy's Edge, aka the Outer Rim planet of Batuu, and wander through the bustling trading center, Black Spire Outpost, you'll quickly feel parsecs away from Disneyland's nearby Fantasyland or the adjacent Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

"Star Wars" fans could easily spend the better part of a day exploring the stalls of the marketplace, bellying up to the bar in Oga's Cantina and discovering hidden details concealed around blaster fire-marred corners.

The land invites immersive role-play — signs are written in Aurebesh, the main alphabet used in the "Star Wars" galaxy. The citizens of Batuu (aka Disney Cast Members) greet you as a visitor to their planet ("Bright suns, traveler") and play dumb if you refer to Earthly, "off-planet" places.

Also, characters chat casually with passersby rather than invite a queue for posed photos. Come with a curious mind and an openness to play along and you'll end up wanting to devote more than a few hours to Batuu during your trip.

Have a plan for riding Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run

Yes, there's plenty to do in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge even before you set foot on a ride.

However, both of the land's attractions are also not to be missed, so you'll still want to strategize. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are both accessible by standby queue or two different Lightning Lane options.

Related: Is Disney's new paid FastPass, Genie+, worth it?

If you're willing to spend some extra money, your best bet for riding Rise of the Resistance is to purchase an a la carte Individual Lightning Lane. Ranging from $15-$20 per person depending on the day and whether you're at Disneyland or Walt Disney World, an Individual Lightning Lane reservation lets you skip the standby queue, which can regularly average 90 minutes or more.

You can get Lightning Lane access to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run as part of Disney Genie+ — $15 a day at Walt Disney World or $20 a day at Disneyland allows you to reserve Lightning Lane access to a long list of attractions, one at a time, pending availability.

star wars vip tour disney world

At Walt Disney World, all guests can book their first Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation at 7 a.m. Guests staying at a Disney resort hotel can book their first Individual Lightning Lane reservation at 7 a.m. and guests staying off property can book their first Individual Lightning Lane at park opening.

Be aware that Individual Lightning Lane reservations for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance nearly always sell out at Walt Disney World before becoming available to off-property guests, so if you're not staying at a Disney hotel, expect to wait in the standby queue.

If you're paying for both, be sure to make your selection for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance first, as it sells out before Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Lightning Lane reservations fill up for the day. At Disneyland, you can only make Lightning Lane selections once you enter the park, and reservations don't fill up so quickly.

If you don't want to pony up the extra cash, rope-drop one of the rides — plan to arrive 30-45 minutes before the official park opening (be sure to use the early theme park entry for Disney resort hotel guests if you're staying on property at Walt Disney World — this is your best standby approach for Rise of the Resistance), and plan to do the other one during the slower lunch window or just before park closing.

A word of warning — Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance breaks down ... regularly.

star wars vip tour disney world

If you wait until the end of the day to try to ride, you risk not getting on this epic nearly 20-minute attraction. Given the ride's unpredictability, I recommend spending the money on an Individual Lightning Lane reservation to secure your best chance of not missing it. If the ride breaks down during your return period, you'll be given an open-ended return window for the rest of the day once it's back up and running.

Come ready to interact, but don't expect traditional character meet-and-greets

Traditional character interactions like hugs and autographs have recently returned to Walt Disney World and Disneyland after a pandemic pause.

However, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has never offered typical meet-and-greets and posed photos. Here, character interactions are impromptu — often more suited to video capture than a Disney PhotoPass session.

At Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, characters roam the land and interact more closely with guests (R2-D2 also makes the rounds, in addition to the others listed above). However, at Walt Disney World, characters still remain on stages and behind barriers, so it's more challenging to engage.

Still, if you step up and make eye (mask) contact with Kylo Ren, there's a good chance he'll have some choice words for you.

Use your datapad to unlock more of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

While you might be hesitant to spend even more time on your phone after searching for Lightning Lane reservations within Disney Genie+, Todd Martens, an immersive entertainment journalist who writes about games and theme parks for the Los Angeles Times, recommends spending some time using the Play Disney Parks app.

"I love Galaxy's Edge because there are opportunities throughout to play," Martens shared. "The Play Disney Parks app has a robust collection of minigames hidden in its Star Wars: Datapad, all of which help turn the land into an environment that feels full of life. It's the third attraction in the land."

star wars vip tour disney world

You can use your datapad to fire up the Millennium Falcon, translate Aurebesh signs, hack into and activate droids, scan crates and virtually stash contents. You can also complete missions and tasks for members of the Resistance or the First Order, helping to establish your allegiance to one side or the other.

The datapad also includes tasks you can complete as you wait in standby queues for Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run — a great way to pass the time with impatient kiddos. Although we typically follow a no-device rule on family vacations, we break it here and bring our kids' iPads to Galaxy's Edge so that they can use them as their datapads while we use our phones.

Visit Oga's Cantina — but know what to expect

Oga's Cantina, the watering hole inspired by Mos Eisley's infamous cantina first introduced in "A New Hope," has been open since 2019, but first-timers are still confused by what exactly a visit entails.

Oga's is where weary travelers, scoundrels and smugglers come to sip intergalactic cocktails like the Fuzzy Tauntaun and Jedi Mind Trick while animatronic droid DJ Rex spins Modal Nodes remixes and new classics (we love listening to the full album at home).

star wars vip tour disney world

Advance reservations are a must, and although you'll book a time slot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Oga's is a bar, not a restaurant, and only offers a couple of very light snack options on the menu.

Many tables and bar spots -- even for those with reservations -- are standing room only. And while kids are allowed, it's a somewhat grown-up vibe. However, my kids still have a blast watching DJ Rex and sipping their Blue Banthas — blue milk topped with a bantha horn cookie.

If you're with kids or just have tired legs and are willing to wait a little (and occasionally a lot) longer, let a Cast Member know when you check in for your reservation that you'd like a seated table and that you'll wait for one.

star wars vip tour disney world

Make sure to pull out your datapad while in Oga's, too — you can hack into DJ Rex (plus it gives kids another way to stay engaged while parents relax with a cocktail).

There's a 45-minute, two-drink-per-person limit here. Reservations are scooped up immediately at the 60-day mark, so set those alarms. Disneyland guests should also take note that Oga's is one of only two places in Disneyland Park where alcohol is served — and the other, Blue Bayou, is temporarily closed, so this is your one chance for that adult beverage right now.

These are the details you're looking for

You could fill volumes with the "Star Wars" Easter eggs hiding in plain sight around Batuu. Lucasfilm Vice President and Executive Creative Director Doug Chiang oversaw the design for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and says even he rediscovers hidden details.

"Recently, while visiting Galaxy's Edge, I found myself discovering things that I had already forgotten," Chiang said. "I thought, 'Hey, that's cool.' Then I remembered I had designed it," he laughed.

Chiang said guests should look out for those little details everywhere, and shared a couple of pointers. "On the full-sized Millenium Falcon outside of Smugglers Run, look for a tiny Millennium Falcon ship on the underside of the cockpit pod. It was in the original set, too," he shared.

Chiang told me when I first interviewed him nearly three years ago that there's a hidden Mickey somewhere on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. My kids and I had been looking ever since and we were so excited to finally find it last month. No spoilers but I'll give you a hint: Look closely at the control panels on the Star Destroyer.

Choose your weapon

For the ultimate "Star Wars" souvenir, it's hard to compete with that elegant weapon for a more civilized age: the lightsaber. Building your own saber at Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers is a moving, bucket list experience for fans. It will definitely set you back a few credits, though, at $219.99. For a less expensive option at a similar quality, legacy lightsabers sold in Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities typically start at $139.99 for impressive replica sabers modeled after the iconic weapons of characters like Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

star wars vip tour disney world

For a far less expensive option, a Choose Your Destiny lightsaber-building station is available at Tatooine Traders at Disney's Hollywood Studios and the Star Trader in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park. Here, you can build your own lightsaber for a starting price of just $29.99.

Bond with fellow fans during a lightsaber meetup

Whether you build your own lightsaber, buy a pre-made version or bring one from home, wielding a saber after dark in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge definitely gives "Star Wars" fans all the feels.

Ashley Eckstein, founder of Her Universe and actress best known as the voice of Ahsoka Tano in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels," enjoys connecting with other fans on Batuu during lightsaber meetups, unofficial gatherings organized through social media.

"One of my favorite things to do in Galaxy's Edge is attend a Lightsaber Discord Fan Meetup," said Eckstein. "There are several throughout the year at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland. It's a wonderful opportunity to come together with fellow 'Star Wars' fans and use your lightsabers for some really epic photo ops!"

Go on a creature scavenger hunt (and maybe take one home)

It's not "Star Wars" without a few alien creatures in the mix. Spot all sorts of species around Batuu, including a dianoga lurking in a tank near the Marketplace "refreshers" (that's Batuuese for restrooms), a baby sarlacc in Dok Ondar's Den of Antiquities and a snoozing Loth-cat in the Creature Stall.

If you're exploring Batuu West, Martens recommends stopping at the Creature Stall to get a copy of "Bina's Guide to the Creatures of Batuu," a free book that details the types of creatures and tracks you can encounter around Batuu West and includes facts about each creature.

star wars vip tour disney world

"It's a free scavenger hunt game that will encourage you to more deeply appreciate the details of the land," Martens said.

Bina, the proprietor of the Creature Stall in Black Spire Outpost's Marketplace, also has plenty of creatures for sale that guests can take home. Adopt pets like a Kowakian monkey-lizard, Loth-cat or porg and take your new friend home in a special vented carrying case.

Beyond Batuu

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge isn't the only place to tap into your inner Jedi at the parks. However, there are definitely fewer ways to live out your "Star Wars" dreams outside Batuu than there were pre-pandemic. Many fans are still holding out hope for the return of traditional "Star Wars" character meet-and-greets to Star Wars Launch Bay, as well as the chance for young Padawans to once again face Darth Vader and Kylo Ren during Jedi Training.

It remains to be seen whether those experiences do return, though. In the meantime, we love to grab a Wookiee Cookie from Backlot Express at Disney's Hollywood Studios and take photos in front of the giant AT-AT walker outside Star Tours before riding the ride or shopping at Tatooine Traders.

Don't overlook Star Tours

It's less popular now that Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has taken center stage, but Star Tours is a classic attraction that no "Star Wars" fan should skip.

The motion simulator ride first opened at Disneyland Park in 1987 and at Disney's Hollywood Studios in 1989. Its updated 3D version, Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, debuted in 2011, thanks to a creative partnership between Disney Imagineers, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic.

The ride features a possible 100 different story combinations, including segments from the sequel trilogy, and remains surprisingly satisfying after all these years (as long as you aren't especially prone to motion sickness).

star wars vip tour disney world

"Star Tours allows us to visit greatest hits from all over the 'Star Wars' canon ... and to visit all kinds of new places in a different way that is not quite so story consistent," Walt Disney Imagineering Portfolio Creative Executive Scott Trowbridge said during a discussion about how Star Tours differs from the attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Another benefit: Unlike the rides in Galaxy's Edge, Star Tours almost always has a manageable standby wait and is an easy Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation to snag.

Catch Hyperspace Mountain's limited run at Disneyland Park

If you're lucky enough to be at Disneyland from April 29 through a yet-to-be-confirmed end date, add Space Mountain to your list of "Star Wars" attractions.

The coaster, which in my opinion is already far superior to Walt Disney World's on a normal day (top marks for the side-by-side seating and a vastly smoother ride), achieves undeniable supremacy when it gets a limited-time overlay as Hyperspace Mountain. Blast off at lightspeed accompanied by a Rebel X-wing squadron and evade Imperial TIE fighters, all to the tune of iconic John Williams melodies.

This ride would definitely be a smart use of a Genie+ Lightning Lane.

Don't miss some of the best food in Disney parks

A feast for the eyes and the taste buds, the food in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is among the most inventive — and delicious — at any of the theme parks, so don't miss a meal (or two) here.

At Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Batuu's main quick-service spot, chef Strono "Cookie" Tuggs has docked a food freighter and serves his specialties in the hangar below (just look for the ship high above the land to find this spot). Menu highlights include the Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs and the plant-based Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread (a favorite even among meat-eaters).

Padawans (aka kids) love the Fried Chicken Tip Yip Youngling Meal served with mac and cheese.

star wars vip tour disney world

Next door at Ronto Roasters, a pitmaster droid helms the podracing engine-turned-spit at this counter-service spot. It serves the fan-favorite Ronto Wrap, roasted pork and grilled sausage served in a pita with peppercorn sauce and tangy slaw.

Vegans and vegetarians get solid plant-based options too — the Zuchii Wrap at Disney World swaps sausage for a grilled zucchini spear topped with a spicy chickpea slaw and at Disneyland, the Ronto-less Garden Wrap made with Impossible meat is another cult favorite.

Blue milk or green milk — choose your side

There's no more iconic food or drink in the "Star Wars" universe than that glass of blue milk Luke Skywalker sipped in "A New Hope." Disney's polarizing take on the drink — frozen versions of blue and green "milk" served at the Milk Stand in Galaxy's Edge — continues to divide fans. Blue milk is the hands-down winner in my book, but try it and choose for yourself.

If the idea of milk on a hot theme park afternoon freaks you out, don't worry -- it isn't actually milk in the traditional sense. The flavors are made with coconut and rice milks enhanced with fruit flavors.

Blue milk is flavored with dragon fruit, pineapple, lime and watermelon. Green milk is flavored with mandarin orange, passion fruit, grapefruit and orange blossom. More fruit smoothie than creamy milkshake, the plant-based concoctions were developed with the hot Florida and California climate in mind, said Walt Disney World Culinary Director Brian Piasecki.

star wars vip tour disney world

"We wanted it to be cool, crisp, refreshing," Brian Piasecki explained, noting that blue milk is the more popular of the two flavors. "The coconut milk and the rice milk and all those fruity elements really helped us put that flavor profile together."

For a grown-up version at Walt Disney World, you can also order your blue milk spiked with rum and green milk spiked with tequila.

Voyage on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

At Walt Disney World, there's a new way to take your "Star Wars" experience to the next level. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser launched March 1 and transports guests to a galaxy far, far away aboard the Halcyon starcruiser for two full days and nights (without actually leaving Walt Disney World property).

At less than 48 hours but with a starting price of $4,809 for two guests, a voyage on Galactic Starcruiser is definitely an investment, but hardcore "Star Wars" fans who can pull it off are likely to enjoy it. My "Star Wars"-obsessed family was able to experience the full two-night Galactic Starcruiser experience as guests of Disney during a media preview and we are still reeling.

star wars vip tour disney world

During the two-night adventure, guests become deeply embedded in their own bespoke, interactive "Star Wars" experience. You'll explore the ship, learn to wield a lightsaber and dine on intergalactic cuisine. This is all while developing relationships and alliances with "Star Wars" characters and truly becoming part of the story.

"This is the only time you're ever going to have an experience like this where you can interact for a prolonged period of time with a character and that gives you such a unique way to connect with them," shared Matt Martin, senior creative executive at Lucasfilm. "One of the most rewarding parts of this is watching those character interactions and seeing people become friends with people that are in 'Star Wars.'"

star wars vip tour disney world

The two-night voyage includes a visit to Batuu via an immersive transport shuttle that drops you directly into the land. You'll also get Lightning Lane access to both Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run. If you've never been to Galaxy's Edge, Chiang said starting with a voyage on Galactic Starcruiser is the ultimate way to truly immerse yourself.

"In a perfect world, you'd do Galactic Starcruiser first," said Chiang, "because then you'll be transported to Batuu and you can experience Batuu for the first time fully in story. To see it all tie together in one giant experience is the way to go."

Experience 'Star Wars' at sea on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line has replaced Star Wars Day at Sea itineraries with Pixar Day at Sea for upcoming 2023 sailings.

However, the Force is still strong on the high seas with lots of "Star Wars" fun to be had aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, and two big reasons to get excited about Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, the Disney Wish .

On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the Oceaneer Club, designed for younglings ages 3-12, features "Star Wars"-themed spaces with games and activities. This includes a flight simulation in the Millennium Falcon cockpit on the Dream and an interactive holotable on the Fantasy. Big kids at heart, you'll get your time, too — Disney Cruise Line kids clubs hold open houses when guests of all ages are invited to visit and play.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Brooke Geiger McDonald (@brookegmcdonald)

When the Disney Wish sets sail on its maiden voyage on July 14, passengers will have two new ways to experience "Star Wars" at sea. In the Oceaneer Club, kids become creature caretakers at Star Wars: Cargo Bay. Here, they'll help feed and care for some of the most iconic "Star Wars" creatures in the galaxy, including a porg, Loth-cat and worrt.

Also coming to the Wish is a luxe, "Star Wars"-themed watering hole — Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge.

star wars vip tour disney world

Inspired by Dryden Vos' yacht-class ship in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" and Canto Bight's glitzy casinos in "The Last Jedi," Hyperspace Lounge will have an elegant vibe a la Sublight Lounge on Galactic Starcruiser, with rich leathers and shimmering metallics. The piece de resistance will be a "space window," an HD screen developed as part of a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering, Lucasfilm and ILM, displaying passing planets, ships and space debris.

The lounge menu will feature signature cocktails and exclusive beers, each with its own "Star Wars" backstory.

Bottom line

There are lots of ways to get a healthy dose of "Star Wars" while at Disney -- even beyond the new Galactic Starcruiser . You're now armed with lots of ideas to live out your Jedi -- or First Order -- dreams.

Star-Lord character from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ returning to Disney World

Star-Lord from Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” will return to Walt Disney World, appearing in person at Epcot.

Star-Lord character at Walt Disney World's Epcot

Star-Lord at Epcot

“Star-Lord will return” … to Walt Disney World! The leader of the titular heroic team (according to himself, anyway) from Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy” films will appear at Epcot near Orlando, Fla. on Sept. 29, 2024.

Disney announced the character’s return in a video posted to Instagram on Sept. 24 with this caption:

SPOTTED: Star-Lord dancing his way to reunite with the EPCOT Terrans 🕺📼 #DisneyParks #DisneyWorld #EPCOT #StarLord #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy #Guardians #CosmicRewind

In the video, Star-Lord dances through various Epcot pavilions, including The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends. Text on screen at the end of the video reads, “Star-Lord will return to Epcot on 9/29.”

Star-Lord dancing in Living with the Land

Disney did not mention in what capacity Star-Lord will appear, be that a meet & greet, distanced sighting, or some sort of production.

Star-Lord’s previous Disney World appearances

From 2017-2018, Disney World guests could meet Star-Lord (along with Baby Groot) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, inside the attraction now known as Walt Disney Presents. Ariel from 2023’s “The Little Mermaid” has a meet & greet in that location today.

Star-Lord (along with Gamora) also previously starred in a limited-time show “ Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Live! ” in 2018 as part of Disney World’s “Incredible Summer” celebration. The show held an encore in summer 2019.

Guardians of the Galaxy characters. atEpcot

In more recent years, Star-Lord’s Florida appearances have been limited to private events like Disney Vacation Club parties, despite being readily available for meet & greets at other Disney parks around the globe.

Beyond character appearances, Epcot has been home base for all things “Guardians” since the 2022 opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster.

An Epcot homecoming

Of course, Peter Quill has a special attachment with Epcot. After all, before he became Star-Lord, he visited Disney World as a young boy, according to the Cosmic Rewind backstory . During a video in the Cosmic Rewind queue, Quill references old-school Epcot attractions like Horizons and Kitchen Kabaret.

Peter Quill aka Star Lord visited Epcot as a child

In the Marvel films, Star-Lord aka Peter Quill is portrayed by Chris Pratt. Just down the road at Universal Studios Florida, another Pratt character — Owen from “Jurassic World” — debuted as a live character this summer as part of “ Universal Mega Movie Parade .”

Disney World Files Permit for ‘Star Wars’ Ride, Changes Incoming

in Star Wars , Walt Disney World

The Millenium Falcon at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland Park, implying that Disney has rekindled an age-old debate with a new offering

Changes are coming to the Black Spire Outpost! Walt Disney World Resort recently filed a construction permit for one of the two popular attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run opened alongside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in August 2019. The other  Star Wars  land attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, opened a few months later, in December 2019. Disneyland Resort experienced a similar delay–Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened at Disneyland Park in January 2020, while Batuu opened in May 2019.

Guests riding Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run

The wildly popular Lucasfilm attractions frequently boast hours-long wait times, but they’re not as beloved as they once were. Many Disney Park guests report that the once-impressive special effects on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance are barely functional .

Others say Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run , which invites guests to pilot the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy,” has lost its novelty now that the storyline is five years old.

Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t ignored complaints about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Walt Disney Imagineers have attempted to fix Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with multiple lengthy refurbishment periods . Now, it seems that changes are coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Walt Disney World Resort’s in-house contractors, Buena Vista Construction Company, recently filed a construction permit for the simulator attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The document provided little detail on planned work other than a request to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.”

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run cockpit

In August, Chairman of Disney Experiences Josh D’Amaro announced that a new version of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run would debut at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort in 2026. The updated ride will premiere alongside The Mandalorian and Grogu  (2026) film.

D’Amaro said Disney plans to create the new storyline alongside Epic Games. The company invested $1.5 billion in the video game giant earlier this year. Lucasfilm previously used Epic’s Unreal Engine to create some virtual sets for the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian.

Guests in the cockpit of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run Mandalorian concept art

“The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next,” Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni said. “Just imagine it: you’ll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions.”

It’s unclear if the recently filed construction permit is related to the 2026 retheme of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Walt Disney World Resort could simply be repairing worn down ride elements or fixing wear-and-tear on the show building.
