Why we love it:

  • A 45-minute stop by Zuccotti Park for lunch offers visitors the chance to eat at Gansevoort Liberty Market, outdoor food carts, Eataly and more, just like countless New Yorkers downtown.
  • The drive up Broadway, and down Fifth Avenue offers visitors a taste of several neighborhoods they may want to return to (think: West Village and Chinatown). Guides are happy to recommend how to return to these areas and share personal recommendations for shopping, dining and low-priced tickets.
  • There’s never a boring moment – each block has a story about a synagogue, a celebrity, a changemaker or other notable figures in New York history. The comprehensive overview takes visitors from 1600s New Amsterdam to 2024’s Tony Award contenders.

10 – New York City: Highlights of Central Park Bike Tour

Highlights of Central Park Bike Tour

Rating: ⭐️ 4.6/5 ( 414 reviews )

“We stopped at the sights and were given some time to take a better look around. It was definitely worth it and you get to see the park well at a fast pace.” Ricardo, Getyourguide

If you’re on the hunt for family things to do in New York City with kids , you can never go wrong with Central Park . Spread across 843 acres, this slice of world-famous greenery acts as a much-needed breath of fresh air from the loud, crowded city streets.

Due to its size, you’d need at least an entire day to cross off all the main things to do in Central Park . Instead, why not speed things up with Unlimited Biking ‘s Central Park Bike Tour ?

Led by local New Yorkers, you’ll pedal through the park, stopping at locations like Strawberry Fields , the Bethesda Terrace , and The Central Park Zoo , as well as lesser-known gems like the Alice in Wonderland statue and Belvedere Castle .

Central Park is world-famous, but it’s hard to cover all of it on foot, especially in just a few hours. That’s why Unlimited Biking’s tour is a great option. On top of the amazing sightseeing, the tour guides are also super knowledgeable about the history and fun facts of the park. We recommend this tour, especially for families.

Keith, Chris, Tim and the ExperienceFirst crew make sure this tour is well worth your time. For budding performers and theater enthusiasts alike, it’s one of the best city tours in NYC.

12 – Manhattan Architecture Yacht Cruise

Manhattan architecture cruise by Classic Harbor Line

Rating: ⭐️ 5/5 ( 702 reviews )

“This was a great way to look at all of New York famous buildings and learn about their history! I would go again!” Jessica, Viator

All about luxury, sophistication and (as the name suggests) architecture, this NYC cruise is definitely one for those who like to travel in style. Once on board the 1920s-style yacht, you’ll spend almost 3 hours cruising around the Hudson and East Rivers while taking in stunning views of staple Manhattan landmarks .

While you’ll pass by the Freedom Tower, the Chrysler Building , the Brooklyn Bridge , Roosevelt Island and more, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill sightseeing boat cruise. The expert American Institute of Architects guide waxes commentary about the city’s rich history, making it a thorough architectural tour .

With an architectural landscape that changes daily, if there were ever a city to study the different styles of buildings, bridges and monuments, it’s this one.

While more expensive than regular cruises, the architecture yacht tour dives into themes of which other tours barely scratch the surface. The crew are experts, and the boat itself is stunning. Highly recommended!

New York City Ghost Tour of Greenwich Village

Rating: ⭐️ 4.5/5 ( 331 reviews )

“My friends and I loved the tour, it was very interesting! I definitely have some new facts to share with my family 🙂 The tour guide was amazing and was able to answer all of my dumb questions about the city!” Caroline, Viator

Modern-day Greenwich is known as the home of Manhattan counterculture; a hipster, groovy district with art galleries and trendy bars around every corner. But dig beneath the glamorous surface and you’ll discover that this neighborhood also has a long history of hauntings, crime and paranormal activity.

And there’s no better group to share the spine-tingling stories than Top Dog Tours . Taking a moonlit walking tour through the Village’s winding streets, you’ll hear tales of murder, mystery, and mayhem as you visit haunted places like Washington Square Park, the Jefferson Market Library, and the Cherry Lane Theatre, to name a few.

A refreshing alternative to the traditional sightseeing tour, this bone-chilling Village walkthrough truly brings the spooky history of Greenwich to life. Luke, Katie and Rory are expert storytellers, keeping the tour engaging from start to end. If you want to venture off the beaten path, we highly recommend this tour.

Where modern skyscrapers contrast centuries-old churches and taverns; where the oldest immigration hub meets Wall Street ; where the sobering 9/11 Memorial stands, the Financial District is so much more than finance.

22 – New York City: The Ride Interactive Bus Tour

New York City The Ride Interactive Bus Tour

Rating: ⭐️ 4.3/5 ( 210 reviews )

“The Ride experience totally made our trip to NYC. The reviews and photos on line do not do it true justice. (…) I would recommend this to all ages and guarantee a great time. I would do it again tomorrow.” Clare, Getyourguide

Part city tour, part Broadway musical, and collectively a whole lot of fun!

Combining sightseeing with music and theater, The Ride is an interactive 75-minute bus tour that whisks you through the characteristic streets of Manhattan while entertaining and educating you with live performances .

Unlike typical bus tours, you actually face sideways , with the streets becoming the stage. That means one moment you’ll be serenaded in front of Grand Central, and the next you could be seeing a live ballet show at Bryant Park or a freestyle rap performance at Columbus Circle!

With 3 rows of stadium-style seats, unlike your typical Broadway theater, there’s no bad seat in the house on The Ride .

Embodying the essence of New York, The Ride is one of the best ways to experience the city’s deep-rooted musical theater culture. It combines the best of both worlds – Broadway talent and landmark sightseeing – to show off the city in a way you’ve never seen before.

It’s one of our top picks for NYC city tours!

23 – NYC: Speakeasy Drinks and Prohibition History Tour

NYC Speakeasy Drinks and Prohibition History Tour

Rating: ⭐️ 4.7/5 ( 297 reviews )

“The speakeasy tour was a highlight of our trip for sure! Our guide Jack was awesome and had great drink recommendations. The three bars we went to had great atmosphere and delicious drinks and weren’t places we would have found on our own. Highly recommend!” Brianne, Getyourguide

These days, NYC is chock-full of craft breweries and lavish cocktail bars. But it wasn’t always this way. In the 1920s, Prohibition forced New Yorkers to drink in hiding.

On this NiteTables Experiences walk down memory lane, you’ll travel back in time to experience the roaring ’20s , popping into 3 historical watering holes around Midtown Manhattan.

Unlike most pub crawls in New York City , this one’s heavily educational. Cocktails in hand, you’ll learn about infamous bootleggers, notorious gangsters and the women of the Gilded Age. Overall, not only is it one of the best New York City night tours , it’s one of the best NYC speakeasy tours , period.

The perfect combination of fun and educational, this thirst-quenching tour makes a point to venture away from the cliché tourist spots.

Since drinks aren’t included you have the freedom to order whatever libations take your fancy too. Thanks to Jack, Ariel and the guides being so welcoming and insightful, this tour is an excellent option.

When the annual festive season rolls around, the Big Apple lights up like no other city. But there’s one quiet Brooklyn neighborhood that puts the rest to shame: Dyker Heights .

Sure to ignite the holiday cheer , the Tour America excursion whisks you to the most elaborately decorated streets in Dyker Heights and Bay Ridge, passing by hundreds of animatronic and inflatable toy soldiers, Santa Clauses, elves and reindeer.

But you’re not just stuck on the bus – on foot , you’ll wander through the neighborhood and get to witness the dazzling, often music-synced houses up close.

The view of the lit-up Brooklyn Bridge at tour’s end is the cherry on top of this Christmas lights tour .

A lovely way to embrace the holiday season magic, this tour shows off a typically unseen part of NYC. Luiz, Alan and the team make it fun, entertaining and insightful, and the lights – well, they’re on another level! We rate this as one of the best NYC Christmas tours.

A hectic and fast paced trip, starting with early mornings. Loved Niagara Falls and being able to go to the Canadian side for one night (remember to apply for a Canadian Esta and bring your passport). Pennsylvania and Amish country side was a treat. Wish we had more time there. Love hearing about American history. Then Washington DC- amazing city. We disembarked after touring DC monuments and aeronautical museum and spent two more days in DC. Wharf, eateries, sights and monuments within reach.

The Rolling Stones Really Might Never Stop

During a 19-song set at MetLife Stadium that spanned 60 years, the band tapped into what seems like a bottomless well of rock ’n’ roll energy.

Mick Jagger, dressed in all black with a sequined vest, stands center stage and points out with his left index finger. He is flanked by guitarists Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards, with drummer Steve Jordan behind them all.

By Lindsay Zoladz

Reporting from East Rutherford, N.J.

“This song’s for Manhattan!” Mick Jagger told the crowd on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium, before launching into a punchy rendition of “Shattered,” that agitated ode to late-70s New York City that closes out the band’s 1978 album “Some Girls.” In the ensuing 46 years, the city has changed in some superficial ways but somehow remained essentially the same — much, as they showed throughout an impressively energetic two-hour set, like the Rolling Stones.

The Stones’ first New York-area stadium gig in five years was sponsored, without a hint of irony, by AARP. It was appropriate: At times what transpired onstage felt not just like a rock concert but a display of the evolutionary marvel that is aging in the 21st century. (Albeit aging while wealthy, with every possible technological and medical advantage at one’s disposal. I’ll have whatever vitamins the Stones are taking, please.)

Ronnie Wood, the core group’s baby at age 76, still shreds on the guitar with a grinning, impish verve. Eighty-year-old and eternally cool Keith Richards pairs his bluesy licks with a humble demeanor that seems to say “I can’t believe I’m still here, either.” And then there is Jagger, who turns 81 a few days after the Hackney Diamonds Tour wraps in July. Six decades into his performing career, he is somehow still the indefatigable dynamo he always was, slithering vertically like a charmed snake, chopping the air as if he’s in a kung fu battle against a swarm of unseen mosquitoes, and, when he needs both hands to dance, which is often, nestling the microphone provocatively above the fly of his pants. Sprinting the length of the stage during a rousing “Honky Tonk Women” — the 13th song in the set! — he conjured no other rock star so much as Benjamin Button, as he seemed to become even more energetic as the night went on.

Last year’s “ Hackney Diamonds ” — the Stones’ first album of new material in nearly two decades — was the nominal reason for the tour, but they didn’t linger on it, and the crowd didn’t seem to mind. Across 19 songs, they played only three tunes from the latest release, including two of the best: The taut, growly lead single “Angry” and, for the first part of the encore, the gospel-influenced reverie “Sweet Sounds of Heaven.” Mostly it was a kind of truncated greatest hits collection, capturing the band’s long transformation from reverent students of the blues (Richards’ star turn on the tender “You Got the Silver”) to countercultural soothsayers (a singalong-friendly “Sympathy for the Devil”) to corporate rock behemoth (they opened, of course, with “Start Me Up”).

Jagger, Richards and Wood all still emanate a palpable joy for what they are doing onstage. But those joys also feel noticeably personal and siloed, rarely blending to provide much intra-band chemistry. That is likely a preservation strategy — the surest way to keep a well-oiled machine running and to continue sharing the stage with the same people for half a century or more. But when Jagger ended a charming story about a local diner that had named a sandwich after him (“I’ve never had a [expletive] sandwich named after me! I’m very, very proud”), I did not quite buy his assertion that he, Keith and Ronnie were going to go enjoy one together after the show.

Some of that fractured feeling is likely due to the absence of the great Charlie Watts , the band’s longtime drummer who died in 2021; the Hackney Diamonds Tour is the Stones’ first North American stadium tour without him. His replacement, Steve Jordan, does about as good a job as anyone could — like Watts, he balances a rock drummer’s power with a jazzy agility — and his presence never overwhelms. Though they are surrounded by plenty of talented backing musicians, the staging makes it clear that the Rolling Stones are now a trio.

The night’s breakout star, though, was Chanel Haynes, a backing vocalist who took center stage to sing with Jagger during two of the night’s best performances. Haynes — who played Tina Turner in the West End production of the jukebox musical “Tina” before joining the Stones’ touring band in 2023 — ably filled the shoes of the mighty Merry Clayton on a blazing “Gimme Shelter,” and sat in for Lady Gaga on “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” matching the megawatt intensity of her “Hackney Diamonds” cameo. Though Haynes could be velvety soft when the song called for it, at her most impressive she sang with a low, grumbling hunger that often swelled into ferocity, as if she were taking big, meaty bites out of the songs.

Jagger, for his part, delivered many of his lines in his signature bark: The second song, a somewhat slowed down and blues-ified “Get Off of My Cloud,” was transformed by his almost scat-like delivery. But in fleeting moments — including a few falsetto runs — he showed that a certain tenderness in his tone remains intact.

That was most apparent on a gorgeous rendition of “Wild Horses,” the song that gained inclusion in the set by winning the nightly online “fan vote.” For so much of this show, the Stones effectively proved they could outrun age, irrelevancy and all the other indignities that time brings to mere mortals. But here they settled into something more contemplative, elegiac and vulnerable, and the show was better for it.

At a time when their few remaining peers are wrapping farewell tours and bands that have been together for half as long are running on fumes, the Stones are an anomaly. It’s not that their show is devoid of nostalgia, but it’s not coasting on it either. They don’t look like they did in the ’70s — who does? — but when their sound is gelling they are able to tap into some kind of eternal present. For better or worse, they seem intent to be the last band of their generation standing, to ride rock ’n’ roll all the way to its logical endpoint. Astoundingly, they don’t sound like they’ve reached it yet.

“The week-long event provides us an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding area to meet their service members and see firsthand the latest capabilities of today's maritime services," Baker said in the statement.

At the Hudson River on Wednesday morning, crew members were getting ready to kickoff the annual event.

Uni Watch Tour ’24 Report: New York City!

city tour new york

The fifth and final stop on Paul’s 2024 Farewell Tour took place this past Sunday, May 26th, in New York City, at Bowery Electric in downtown NYC. It was highlighted by an awesome set by the Zambonis, most of whom wore custom “Uni Watch” hockey jerseys. I honestly hadn’t planned on doing the recap (Paul had done the other four, but the whirlwind final week of his tenure, coupled with this gathering occuring on Paul’s last day, led to us deciding I’d handle this recap). Neither Paul nor I took any photos, but several readers in attendance did so (thanks to everyone who sent in). As such, there will be some photos below for attendees whose name(s) I either forgot or didn’t catch in the first place — so if you’re pictured below, and not ID’ed, please post your name (and identify the photo) in the comments below and I’ll update the information.

Honestly the day was a bit of a blur for me (and tempered with more than a bit of sadness), but it was another outstanding gathering, it was great to meet (or renew acquantences/friendships with) readers. It was also my great pleasure to meet a bunch of folks at this party. Everyone was incredibly thoughtful and supportive, and it speaks to the great strength of the community Paul has built for all of us to enjoy.

If anyone who was in attendance would like to express your own thoughts (or if I’ve posted a photo of you and either didn’t get, or didn’t remember your name), please do so in the comments.

Let’s look at some of the (many) photos sent in by various readers — there were a couple of readers who sent in multiple photos (like, dozens or in once case more than 100!). Again, my apologies to anyone whose name/ID I didn’t include.

Here are some, but by no means all, photos of those in attendance. The lighting in the venue wasn’t always ideal, so some photos will have a psychadelic-ish quality.

• Eric Garment (and Paul). Love the “Meats” shirt!

• Our own Anthony Emerson — who is a super-sweet guy in addition to all his contributions to the site — it was the first time Paul and I met Anthony in person (he came down from Maine just for the event).

• Benjamin Bonnet. LOVE that shirt (I believe it’s from the Southern Oregon Timberjacks )

• Jon Springer (of Mets By The Numbers fame)

• Kary Klismet and Paul, showing off their coordinated green and gold stirrups! (Kary will be in several of the following photos, as he sent in a bunch)

• Gary Korhonen (another who sent in multiple photos!) in his Broncos Naming Wrongs tee! (He also posed with me and the UW baton Paul presented to me at the gathering)

• Rob Caridad (along with me and Paul)

• Kary along with four attendees whose names I forgot:

• A random crowd shot, but you can see Paul and E in the foreground, and in the Tequila Sunrise UW shirt is longtime reader (and one of Paul & my curling teammates from back in the day) Doug Kalemba

• On the left is longtime reader (and frequent contributor) Walter Helfer, along with Anthony and me:

Walter brought along with him several of his hand drawn creations (some of which have already been featured on UW)

• On the right is Gary Kornonen, along with three attendees whose names I can’t recall (sorry):

• On the left is the awesome Jerry Wolper (our proof reader and contributor) and the right is Bryan Molloy (who designed the winged stirrup and also designed every one of our Purp Walk T-shirts). In between are three great guys whose names escape me:

• Me, Marc Rivlin (a long and devoted reader, and HUGE Mets fan) along with Steve Dodell (who you may recall discovered the e rror in the Mets’ Tom Seaver statue , among other contributions)

In addition, reader Sam Meyer sent along an entire gallery of photos, which you should be able to view here . Special thanks to Kary Klismet and Gary Korhonen — who each sent dozens/hundreds of additional photos.

Here’s a gallery of the days entertainment — the Zambonis!

And here’s an additional gallery (hopefully there won’t be too many repeats) of reader submitted photos

My thanks (again) to everyone who attended and to those who sent in photos, double-plus-thanks as well. If you’re in one of the photos shown but not identified, please let us know which pic and post it in the comments (I’ll update this post as needed).

I know there are probably a bunch of photos either I missed or haven’t been sent to the [email protected] account — if you’d like to have photos added to this article, please send them our way.

And once again, my apologies for forgetting so many names and for any photos I neglected to upload. I’ll continue to update this post as needed!

Skaters shred New York City during Red Bull Drop In Tour

' src=

From May 10-12, the Red Bull Drop In Tour put New York City’s local skate scene on full display. Skaters from all over the world gathered to shred the most iconic skate spots throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Among those participating in the three-day event were Red Bull athletes Zuza Bone, Margie Didal, Madars Apse, TJ Rogers, and Devin Flynn. New York City’s own Jiro Platt led the way to the best local skate spots, including his home park, LES Coleman Skate Park.

city tour new york

“There were a lot of people just moving all around [to] the areas and parks that we’ve been skating at…it’s been pretty wild,” Platt said.

The event saw over 200 locals participating in the various cash for tricks competitions and over one thousand spectators getting in on the fun. The skaters traveled in a double-decker bus to events such as a skateboard race down the Williamsburg Bridge, a women’s cash for tricks competition led by Bronx Girls Skate, the Bond Street gap, Tompkins Square Park, Continental Army Plaza, and so many more.

“I had a lot of fun at Tompkins [Square Park] just because there were a lot of ramps there that I haven’t skated in a while and more obstacles than usual,” said Platt.

Jennifer Lopez was recently in talks for a $90 million Las Vegas residency — but the blockbuster deal now looks shaky at best as her new album and upcoming concert tour are flopping badly, The Post has learned.

The embattled pop diva — whose headline-grabbing marriage to Ben Affleck is reportedly crumbling — recently had been in talks with MGM Grand on a guaranteed $1 million a show for 90 dates starting next year, a source close to the situation told The Post.

But casino executives have lately grown skittish over abysmal ticket sales for her first tour in five years following the release of her “This is Me … Now” album in February — with poor demand having forced the cancellation of seven shows this summer, the source said.

Lopez performing during halftime at Super Bowl LIV in 2020.

No Vegas deal has yet to be announced. That’s despite a report from The Mirror on Feb. 2 that MGM had teamed up with Live Nation to offer more than $800,000 a show.

Rival casino Resorts World upped the bidding to $875,000 per show in partnership with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) soon after, sources said.

MGM and Live Nation then swooped in with the $1 million-a-show offer for the “Let’s Get Loud” singer — but buyer’s remorse has lately set in, the first source said.

“MGM is watching her not doing well on the road. They are very nervous,” the person said. “It’s pretty rare you have a poor tour and then go to Vegas.”

Now, the Bronx-born star could be looking at a significant haircut to the $90 million windfall. A Lopez residency should fetch just $600,000 to $650,000 and be for fewer shows, the source said.

Another source with knowledge of the MGM talks said no deal was ever signed, but discussions have continued.

Reps for Lopez and MGM did not comment.

The latest album was the worst selling of Lopez’s career and a companion film on Amazon Prime Video was panned. Ticket sales for the concert, which kicks off next month, are poor and her love affair with Affleck is apparently on the rocks.

Never miss a story.

The couple has rarely been seen together in recent weeks and he failed to show up for the premiere of her new film “Atlas,” which debuted on Netflix on Friday — and which The Post gave a one-star review.

MGM brass are worried about Lopez’s fading star power and whether she’ll be able to fill its 5,200-seat Park Theater to justify the massive financial commitment, the source said.

Lopez is having trouble filling the 19,500-seat T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the tour stop on July 20, with a third of the high-priced floor tickets and plenty of cheaper options — some as low as $65 — still available, Ticketmaster shows .

Seven tour dates in cities including Atlanta, New Orleans and Houston were scrapped, Variety reported .

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez dressed well and standing together.

The Live Nation-produced tour concludes Aug. 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and the residency was expected to begin about six months after the tour ended, the first source said.

J.Lo and her manager Benny Medina began shopping for a Vegas venue before the singer dropped her new album and a companion film on Feb. 16, the source said.

Lopez was a good bet for a casino in the past. Caesars paid her about a guaranteed $500,000 a show for a Planet Hollywood residency that ran for 120 shows between 2016 and 2018.

It grossed $101.9 million, making it the sixth highest Las Vegas residency of all time, and the top residency by a Latin artist, according to Billboard .

J.Lo in an over the top pink dress

MGM is paying Mariah Carey just $500,000 a show for her current residency. Giving Lopez twice that amount would put her in the same ballpark as recently signed deals for Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.

Adele got a record-breaking $2 million a show at Caesars Palace, The Post reported exclusively last year.
