British avant-pop and electronic sensation Charli XCX, fresh off the announcement of her sold-out “BRAT 2024 – ARENA TOUR” shows in the UK, is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sixth solo album , ‘BRAT’ . The album, set to feature 15 tracks, includes the hit single “ Von dutch ” – the brash and synth heavy first taste of the record – alongside recent releases ‘ Club classics ’ and ‘ B2b ’.

Troye Sivan and Charli XCX First Met at a “Spooky” House Party

Ever since Charli XCX and Troye Sivan announced their forthcoming “Sweat” tour , the gay internet has been in shambles. Will this downright historic pop team-up cause a poppers shortage ? Will your phone explode if you try to open Grindr at one of the shows? And will any of us survive the rush — I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m trying to delete it — to buy tickets?

Such is the anticipation for the North American tour that Seth Meyers had the dynamic duo on Late Night earlier this week for a rare joint interview. The entire conversation is worth watching as an anthropological case study in what it looks like for a well-meaning straight ally to ask about the lives of two hypercool pop girlies, especially as he tries to decipher the circumstances of their first meeting.

“Charli had a house party and I somehow ended up there,” Sivan tells Meyers, in a sentence that somehow contains crucial information and none at all. How did the “One of Your Girls” singer end up there , exactly? Was he not invited? Did the flow of the universe simply carry him to her door? Do people in Los Angeles not RSVP?

“This was … in L.A.?” Meyers asks, trying to root the event somewhere in time and space.

To which Charli responds that she used to live in an old Tudor house that was “a little bit scary” where she hosted legendary (and loud) house parties that her neighbors despised. “I don’t remember much of the party,” Sivan adds, after agreeing that the house had “spooky vibes.”

But this next bit is my favorite part: Charli XCX apparently had no idea Troye Sivan was going to be at her own party. “I didn’t know you were coming,” the hyperpop icon tells him. “I was quite starstruck when I met you.”

So to clarify: Sivan “somehow ended up” in Charli XCX’s kitchen — which is where they finally crossed paths for the first time — despite her having no memory of inking him an invitation. I envy the level of coolness one must attain to meet people this way, because at this stage of my life, I feel more like one of the grumpy neighbors who called in a noise complaint on Charli XCX.

During the rest of the interview, Meyers bravely tries to hold his own throughout a conversation about raves and Australian queer slang, but he finds himself on solid footing again when asking Sivan about Timothée Chalamet’s parody of the “Got Me Started” choreography in last year’s viral SNL skit . Apparently, because Sivan had approved the licensing of the song, he had some idea it might appear in the show, but he never could have imagined that the Dune star was going to play him.

“I had no idea any details,” Sivan says. “I did a Google search and saw that Timothée was hosting and so I was like, ‘There’s no way.’”

As it turns out, there definitely was a way. Now we just need Chalamet to make a cameo on the “Sweat” tour and the circle will be complete.

Troye Sivan wins song of the year at 2024 Apra awards for Rush

Troye Sivan took home the top prize at the Australian Performing Rights Association (Apra) awards on Wednesday night, winning song of the year for his track Rush.

The lead single from Sivan’s acclaimed 2023 album Something to Give Each Other , Rush is a lascivious ode to queer nightlife inspired by the gay clubs of Melbourne’s Smith Street. “I wanted to go ballistic,” Sivan told the Guardian last year, of his time in the clubs post pandemic lockdowns.

Sivan’s win at the Apra awards continues a string of accolades over the past six months. Rush earned the Australian pop star his first Grammy nominations for best pop dance recording and best music video earlier this year, while Something to Give Each Other appeared on year-end lists issued by Billboard, NME, Nylon, the Hollywood Reporter and the Guardian as well as topping the Aria charts.

Sivan shared the Apra award with music producer Styalz Fuego, who co-wrote Rush. Both have won Apras in past: Sivan was named breakthrough songwriter of the year in 2017 and Fuego won the same prize in 2013. The award has been renamed emerging songwriter for the 2024 ceremony, held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre.

Song of the year is the only peer-voted category at the Apras, where most awards are determined by airplay and royalties. The Apra board of directors does have discretion over a few categories, including songwriter and emerging songwriter of the year.

Dean Lewis was also a big winner this year, taking home both most performed Australian work and pop work for his track How Do I Say Goodbye, written in the aftermath of his father’s cancer diagnosis.

“Thank you to my dad,” Lewis said in a pre-recorded message. “He’s doing great, doing fine. He’s just had the best time coming on tour with me.”

Blues duo the Teskey Brothers won songwriter for the year, while emerging songwriter went to western Sydney indie artist Grentperez, who became a viral sensation from his covers on YouTube and TikTok.

“As a Filipino Australian artist I feel seen, as well as coming out from western Sydney … the creativity is emerging from everywhere,” Perez said.

Perez was one of several first-time winners this year. Taylor Swift also became an Apras debutante, winning international work of the year for Anti-Hero, after three previous nominations for Love Story, Blank Space and Style.

Other first-timers included garage duo Polish Club, who won most performed rock work for Good Time; drill group OneFour, who won in the hip-hop category for Comma’s (featuring CG); Parkway Drive, who won the inaugural hard rock/heavy metal award for Darker Still; and electronic duo Shouse, who won in the dance category for Never Let You Go, their collaboration with Jason Derulo.

Multiple previous winners also returned. Pop star Sia won her 12th Apra award for Gimme Love while beloved alternative band Birds of Tokyo took home their seventh Apra award for Daylight. Both Casey Barnes and Ziggy Alberts won their second prizes – the former a country award for Summer Nights and the latter a blues and rock award for Dancing in the Dark.

Troye Sivan on Layering Scents, Queering Space, and the Chicest Way to Store Eggs

G rowing up in Perth, Australia, Troye Sivan’s parents had an open-door policy, allowing him and his three siblings to bring friends by whenever they wanted. “It was an absolute mad house the entire summer,” Sivan recalls, but that sense of ease and graciousness has stuck with him as he’s cropped up as a pop star, an actor, and now, the proprietor of his own home line, Tsu Lange Yor .

Tsu Lange Yor, meaning “to long years” in Yiddish, is a chic collection of home fragrances and objects that were created by the The Idol star, in collaboration with his brother, Steele Mellet, and design director Joel Adler. It all can be seen at Tsu Lange Yor’s pop-up in a new space outfitted remotely by Sivan alongside the Melbourne, Australia–based design firm Flack Studio in New York City’s SoHo through Sunday, May 3. The space boasts a mix of vintage pieces alongside contemporary design from the Future Perfect and lighting studio In Common With, as well as a curated selection of Australian art from Sivan’s personal collection.

Ahead of the pop-up, ELLE Decor sat down with the 28-year-old entrepreneur to talk about creative ambition, velvet rage, and feeling at home, wherever you are.

ELLE DECOR: Many of the objects in Tsu Lange Yor seem to be queering the home space and this idea of shelter. What inspired you as you developed the visual language for this collection?

Troye Sivan: To me, home is an avenue for self-expression like any other. And I like having a sense of humor in my home, because what I live with says something about me and where I come from and what I think is important. The small bowl is a great example. It’s self-aware, it’s tongue-in-cheek, but it’s absolutely no joke as a beautiful object. It does everything I want the brand to do, which is [to encourage you] to take that extra second to care for yourself and your space, and in turn to take care of the people around you by creating something beautiful and interesting for them. Your home is for you, most importantly, but it’s also to share.

ED: How do you use the bowl in your own home?

TS: Being as extra as I am, I display my lemons, but honestly, I cook so much. It can be a catchall for onions, lemons, limes, garlic—all kinds of stuff. I keep my eggs in the fridge, but I do think it would be very chic if you’re an eggs outside kind of person. The big bowl fits a dozen eggs perfectly.

ED: Talk to me about sensuality at home and the way scent plays a role in comfort, since fragrance is such a big part of the brand.

TS: Scent is a very layered thing to me. If it’s personal scent, it starts with what laundry detergent you use, and what body wash you use in the shower. I wear an unscented antiperspirant so that I can layer more on and so that I’m more in control of what I smell like at the end of the day. It’s all of these little microdecisions that you make, and the same thing happens for the home. If it’s a beautiful day and I want to throw the doors open, I’ll light the Pool candle. If I’m throwing a dinner party and I’ve been cooking meat for eight hours, I’ll light TLY 5755 and Sassafras . It all contributes to the atmosphere and creates these special moments to share.

ED: Do you think this idea of building community, especially in a queered context, is in reaction or response to growing up in a suburb to some degree?

TS: My design aesthetic and taste was maybe more influenced when I arrived in California and started to see these beautifully curated gay homes. I was like, OK, wow, this is really interesting to me. But the idea of home comes from [growing up in] Australia for me, for sure. I’m well aware that we’re making luxury products, but I would be so happy if someone took the ideas from the line and made them their own. A scarf on a lamp to change the mood of your lighting is just as beautiful to me as one of these products.

ED : Was there a tipping point, in the evolution of your taste, where you realized the gays are just really good at refining their spaces?

TS: Did you ever read The Velvet Rage ? I’m sure there’s some long answer about shame and overcompensation, but I think ultimately it’s just about an appreciation for beauty and a kind of openness to the world. I mean, queer people have defined taste forever and will probably continue to do so forever. I just think we’re really good at it.

ED: From Bloom -era Troye to Rush -era Troye, how has your taste and aesthetic evolved? If you were to articulate this point of view for the home then versus now?

TS: I wouldn’t have done this back then. I think the thing that I really feel emboldened by at the moment is faith in the creative process. I’m realizing that it feels, for me, the same across different mediums, whether I’m building the tour show, making an album, or making a music video—it’s collaboration with people that I love. It’s fun, it’s openness. I feel totally fulfilled.

The Australian pop artist nabbed the peer-voted category, the top honor at the APRAs, for “Rush,” co-written with Styalz Fuego, and lifted from Sivan’s third studio album Something to Give Each Other , which bowed at No. 1 on the ARIA Chart in October 2023 .

Meanwhile, blues act The Teskey Brothers snagged songwriter of the year, following the release of their ARIA No. 1 album The Winding Way , adding to a collection that includes ARIA Awards and a Rolling Stone Australia Award , won earlier this year for best record. The coveted prize is decided by the APRA board of writer and publisher directors.

Singer and songwriter Dean Lewis doubled up with APRAs for “How Do I Say Goodbye,” a tear-jerker that captures his shock after learning of his dad’s cancer diagnosis. “Goodbye” won for most performed Australian work and most performed pop work, lifting his all-time APRAs tally to six. During his taped acceptance speeches, Lewis gave a shoutout to the “great Mike Taylor,” the former chief of Island Records Australia who died in January following a battle with cancer, aged 54 . “Goodbye” was the last song they worked on together, Lewis explained.

Other winners at the APRAs included grentperez, the inaugural recipient of the emerging songwriter of the year award; Parkway Drive for the inaugural most performed hard rock/heavy metal work category; ONEFOUR for most performed hip hop / rap work; Sia, landing most performed Australian work overseas for the fifth time; and Taylor Swift for international work of the year.

The 2024 edition of the APRAs “was a memorable night where we honored several first-time winners as well as established national treasures, including the extraordinary Bart Willoughby,” comments APRA AMCOS CEO Dean Ormston.

“In recognizing the incredible talent in Australia’s music landscape, it’s important to acknowledge that as an organisation that champions gender diversity through advocacy, funding and creative opportunities, there’s more to do to address the disparity in the industry of male to women, non-binary and gender diverse award winners.” He continues, “We must continually question the absence of diversity in every facet of the industry—whether in rooms, executive offices, on stages, or across airwaves and streaming platforms—and commit to amplifying the entirety of Australia’s musical brilliance.”

Established in 1982, the Australasian Performing Right Association’s annual songwriters’ ceremony is one of the Australian music industry’s most treasured events, a worthy counterpart to Britain’s Ivor Novello Awards.

I love Moscow – this charming metropolis, its people, its history and its unique cityscape. I would like to share my passion for this city with you. It is my job to show you the most exciting corners of this fascinating metropolis. Free Tours Moscow – Daily

My free tours Moscow city starts on Slavonic Square (Kitay-Gorod Metro Station), passes the world-famous St. Basil’s Cathedral, which was built by Ivan the Terrible on the south side of Red Square in the 16th century and where the tsars were once crowned. Then it goes across the Red Square at the Lenin Mausoleum, the luxury department store GUM and with a view of the Kremlin towards the historical museum. Of course, you will also learn more about the stories that once happened behind the thick walls of the Kremlin – from the Tsars and Napoleon to Stalin. Then we continue through the idyllic Alexander Garden.

«First acquaintance with Moscow» – a 2.5-hour city tour in the center of Moscow

This Moscow city tour starts on the Theater Square, past Lubyanka Square and the KGB-building, then through Kitay Gorod district and Varvarka Street, past the world-famous St. Basil’s Cathedral. Then it goes across Zarjadje Park, over Red Square at the Lenin Mausoleum, the GUM-department store and towards the Historical Museum. We walk through the Alexander Garden.

A 3.5-hour car/bus tour of Moscow.

This is the best tour of Moscow city as all the important sights are visited. I am your Moscow city guide who will walk you through the city explaining the charming history of the city. This tour begins with picking you up from the hotel. 3 breaks are offered for photographing.

First, we will visit the most famous riverside streets and bridges in the center of the city with the most beautiful views of the Kremlin and the Moskva River (e.g. the Kremlin embankment and the Great Stone Bridge).

The first photo break is made at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. We then pass by the district with numerous museums, Prechistinka Street and the district with numerous medical areas.

We again stop at the Novodevichy Convent, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the other bank of the Moskva River to click pictures.

Then we visit “Sparrow Hills” where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city of Moscow from the observation deck. Then there are the skyscrapers of Moscow-City, the Kutuzov avenue, the New Arbat, Tverskaya Street, the world-famous Bolshoi Theater, the KGB building and Varvarka Street. Here there are ample spots to click pictures.

We then drive past the Kremlin again and finally reach Red Square. We take a short tour of Red Square and say goodbye in the Alexander Garden.

Metro tour – daily

Palaces for ordinary people – that was what Stalin promised to the people when the construction of the Moscow Metro began between the World Wars. The communist dictator hadn’t promised too much. No other underground system in the world can boast such spectacular architecture – chandeliers, decorations, stucco, paintings on the walls – each station is individually designed. No wonder that Moscow residents love their metro. I will guide you through the bustle of one of the busiest subways in the world and show you the most beautiful stations Moscow city has.

Tour of Communist Moscow – every day

After the Communist October Revolution in 1918, Moscow became the capital of the Soviet Empire and was the center of socialist orbit for more than 70 years. This left its mark on Moscow, even if the USSR disintegrated more than a quarter of a century ago. The city streets are full of remnants of the communist regime and the Cold War. This is a walking tour where I will show you the most exciting places in Soviet Moscow: from the notorious KGB headquarters, also known as Lubyanka to the Karl Marx Monument to small hidden remains from the time of hammer and sickle. You will also learn about Stalin’s Great Terror political campaign and the system of the GULAG and how the USSR, the communist Russian republic, became modern Russia.

Alternative Moscow Tour – daily

Explore the unseen Moscow with your Moscow private guide and discover a range of sights during this alternative walking tour.  Away from the main tourist spots (in the central district of Kitay-Gorod), just a short walk from Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral, you suddenly find yourself in one of the trendiest districts of Moscow. This place not only has trendy cafes and green squares, but here you can see the most beautiful spray works (according to Albrecht Dürer), hangout-places of the youth and hipsters, as well as learn what Moscow looked like in the 19th century. Here you will also learn exciting and even bloody stories about famous gangsters, eccentric business people and legends like the wandering preacher Rasputin, who is known in Russia either as the “holy devil” or the mad monk. To learn a little more about Moscow’s culture, this is the tour for you. On my alternative tour, you will get to know Moscow away from the tourist hotspots. This tour is of 2 hours duration and you will experience the following on the tour:

• St. John’s Hill, a quiet oasis right in the center, where time has stopped as it did in pre-Communist times
• Khokhlovka Art Center, where Russian hipsters and street artists hang out
• Samoskvorechye District where you can see beautiful streets and hear stories from old Moscow

Kremlin tour – daily (closed on Thursday)

With its 20 towers and high walls, the Kremlin rises imposingly over Red Square. This world-famous fortress with its area of ​​28 hectares is home to over 800 years of Russian history. Described as the eighth wonder of the world, this historic fortress complex is the principal symbol of Russia that sits on the banks of the Moscow River. Today the Kremlin still harbors numerous secrets and has palaces and cathedrals, surrounded by Kremlin Wall. The current wall was constructed between the 15 th  and 16 th  centuries, but the original wall was made of wood around the year 1147. The Kremlin Wall became an important symbol of Moscow’s importance in the Russian Empire. This top tourist destination attracts millions of people every year and there are various sights to see. With my Kremlin tour, you will see the oldest square in the city in the heart of the Kremlin, the once largest cannon in the world and the scene of numerous dramas – from Ivan the Terrible and Napoleon to Stalin. 1.5-hour boat trip on the Moskva River.

Taking a boat tour in Moscow on the Moskva River is a very pleasant experience. It allows you to know the city from a totally different perspective and admire the beautiful bridges. In this 1.5-hour river trip, you will sail past many beautiful sites in Moscow, so you can take the best photos to commemorate this day. The ship makes several stops on the way. The trip starts from the Ustinskiy Bridge near Sarjadje Park and ends at the Kiev train station.

A military tour – riding on tanks in Stupino (Moscow region)

Russian Military is one of the largest military forces in the world formed in 1992. With my Military Tour experience what it likes to be in the Russian military, shooting guns, ride the Tank T-34 and various models of German tanks from the Second World War, as well as armored personnel carriers and vehicles. You will also shoot from the AK-47 and another combat weapon.

The tour will begin with your private tour guide Moscow in a Soviet army van accompanied with some tasty snacks and tea for a tasty start. Upon arriving, you will have to put on the army safety clothing and climb the Russian armored vehicles. The tour will take you on the noisy, smoky tank, driving through mud roads. All participants will get the chance to drive the tank which is coordinated by the Russian military.

It will be an authentic UAZ 452, a model first built in the 50’s to transport men and military equipment down the snowy or muddy Siberian roads.
