ARE ZODIAC ADVENTURES SAFE?
Yes, all of our captains and boats are certified by Transport Canada. Zodiacs move fast but are very stable, especially in the usually calm waters of Vancouver’s Inner Harbor and Burrard Inlet.
WILL WE SEE WHALES ON SEA VANCOUVER?
No, this is a city sightseeing adventure and it DOES NOT include whale watching. Vancouver, however, is home to a variety of birds and sea mammals and we may occasionally see dolphins, harbor seals, bald eagles, and other sea birds during adventures.
DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION?
Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.
DO TOURS RUN IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER?
Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Are Vancouver BC Boat Cruises Worth It?
Not everybody has $199.99 to go big or go home with a five-hour whale watching tour, and that’s understandable.
If these prices seem a little high you may want to consider the Vancouver Hop on Hop Off bus tour , which is equally educational though it won’t have the same scenic element.
You can also get a $15.00 day pass to ride the Aquabus between some of Vancouver’s top attractions , though this is generally for commuters and tends to hug the shoreline on the non-mountain side of downtown.
That said, how many times in life can you take a Vancouver BC boat tours of one of the most beautiful cities on earth?
As a splurge or celebratory activity for locals, or a way for tourists to learn the city, this is a unique and stunning way to discover Vancouver.
With basic boat tours of Vancouver starting at $51.40 per person (the price of a dinner out) it’s something to really consider.

Best Vancouver Boat Tours and Sightseeing Cruises
Lisa Kling/Getty Images
Part of what makes Vancouver scenery so spectacular is the combination of water and mountains--the downtown peninsula is surrounded by English Bay (the Pacific Ocean), False Creek (the waterway that runs south of downtown), and the Burrard Inlet.
Boat tours and cruises are a wonderful way to experience Vancouver's outdoor beauty, especially on a sunny day (although they're still worth it in the rain, too). Most boat tours and cruises operate primarily from late April to October (the summer season, basically). If you are traveling to Vancouver between October and April, visit the official company websites for information on private tours/charters and special events. For example, Harbour Cruises offers boat tours of the Carol Ships Parade of Light in December. Non-tour options, like the Aquabus, run year-round.
Harbour Cruises
Harbour Cruises is one of Vancouver's oldest city cruise companies , and it offers a wide array of tours. For travelers and sightseeing, their one-hour Vancouver Harbour Tour (late April through September) is a great introduction to Vancouver; it includes a narrated "tour" of the sights on the Burrard Inlet, as well as photo ops and views of the Vancouver skyline, North Shore mountains, and Stanley Park . They also offer Sunset Dinner Cruises (with dinner included) for the summer season.
In late July/early August, there are Fireworks Cruises, for viewing the annual Celebration of Light Fireworks .
The Vancouver Aquabus
The Vancouver Aquabus is not a boat tour per se ; that is, it doesn't have a tour guide or any amenities. Rather, the Aquabus is a mini "water bus" for ferrying people around False Creek; many locals use the Aquabus to get from Yaletown to Granville Island (for example).
For visitors, the Aquabus is a very inexpensive way to see Vancouver from the water. Aquabuses run year-round in every weather and make eight stops around False Creek, including Science World. Start from Granville Island and hop on and off, or simply stay for the entire, circular route and treat it as sightseeing. Families with kids may prefer this option to an organized tour, just because it's so easy to hop off if you need to, and shorter than a cruise.
False Creek Ferries
Like the Aquabus, False Creek Ferries are small boats that locals use to move around False Creek. Also like Aquabus, they're a great option for sightseeing on the water for cheap and allow you to stay aboard for the entire route or hop on and off.
Originating on Granville Island, False Creek Ferries stop at Vanier Park (home to the Museum of Vancouver, Vancouver Maritime Museum, and Bard on the Beach), Yaletown, Science World, and the Vancouver Aquatic Centre (one of the city's top indoor public pools ).
Accent Cruises Dinner Cruises
While Harbour Cruises sail north of downtown Vancouver (on the Burrard Inlet), Accent Cruises' public summer Dinner Cruises leave from Granville Island, south of downtown, and sail northwest around Stanley Park, which means views of several Vancouver landmarks--including Vanier Park, Kitsilano Beach , and English Bay Beach --as well as the city skyline and Vancouver's famous bridges (Burrard Bridge, Granville Street Bridge, and Lion's Gate Bridge). Private charters are available year-round.
Accent Cruises are dinner cruises, rather than straight-up sightseeing tours.
Summer Salsa Cruises
Voted Best Boat Cruise in Vancouver in Georgia Straight's Best of Vancouver Awards 2014, the Summer (July - August) Salsa Cruises play "the best in Latin music on three levels of the largest cruising vessel in Vancouver, the MV Britannia." There are also special "family-friendly" day cruises, too.

What Our Guests Are Saying
Fabulous! What an amazing trip. Would recommend this to everyone. I was initially nervous as I have never been on a boat such as this, but felt completely at ease. Thank you for such a great time.
A fantastic excursion! The whole ten members of the family joined this tour to Granite Falls – this included children and senior citizens. The trip was operated to an excellent degree – not only informative but exciting as well. This tour should be compulsory for all visitors!
Fantastic experience! Even though it rained, the trip was completely unforgettable. Raphael was great at getting us up close with seals, as well as pointing out other wildlife and interesting houses along the fjord. The pictures he took of us came out great as well, so if you need Instagram proof of your adventures, he’ll take care of you!
3 hours of pure fun! Our tour was over the top!! Our guide was the best you could ask for. He was very informative and a great skipper too. I have lived in the Vancouver area all of 70 years and I learn a lot about Indian Arm and the area. I would recommend it to everyone close and far. You will not be disappointed!

Frequently asked questions
Will i get wet.
It’s very unlikely that you will get wet, but being out on the water, there is always the chance! We have small lockers for rent at our office for personal valuables or you can bring a backpack and store it under your seat on the Zodiac.
Do you provide gear to keep us dry?
We have cozy, waterproof, full-length cruiser suits that are optional for all our guests. Not sure if you’ll need it? No worries, ask the captain to bring a suit for you “just in case”.
Are the Zodiacs comfortable?
Our Zodiacs are VERY comfy with cushioned bench seats and excellent back support. We can fit up to 12 guests and seating is typically 3 across in each row.
What if it is raining?
We run tours rain or shine, unless the conditions are dangerous. Vancouver is known for its sunny skies from June through September, and you can grab a complimentary all-weather suit any time of year.
Will it be wavy or rough on the water?
The Granite Falls Boat Tour offers the smoothest ride of all our tours. Our Zodiacs are extremely safe and stable vessels and most of the tour takes place in protected harbours and waterways.
Is there parking available?
Paid parking is available throughout Granville Island near our office. There’s lots of space but on the weekends it can fill up, so plan to arrive a little early. Want to skip the hassle? You can easily catch a 10-15 min Uber or taxi from any hotel downtown!
Here are our suggestions for paid parking on Granville Island:
Old Bridge Indoor Parkade
Anderson Street Parking Lot
Granville Island Parking Lot
When do I need to arrive for my Boat Tour?
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your departure.
Are bathrooms available?
There are no bathrooms on the boat! That being said, there is a bathroom available at our office you can use before and after the tour.
Do I need to wear a life jacket?
YES! We have comfortable, slim-design inflatable life jackets for all of our guests to wear.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you acquired the Trip Protection for your booking during checkout, you can cancel up to 1 hour before departure time for a full refund. Otherwise, the following policy applies: i ) 100% refund for bookings cancelled more than 7 days before your booking time. ii) 50% refund for bookings cancelled between 3 and 7 days before your booking time. iii) Bookings cancelled less than 3 days before your booking time have no refund.
What if I need to cancel for a large group?
For groups larger than 6 we require 7 days notice for a full cancellation without Trip Protection
Can I bring a camera?
We have many guests who choose to bring their cameras with them. We recommend that you keep your camera in a backpack under your seat while moving and take it out when we are stopped at various sites along the way.
How old do I have to be to sign a waiver?
You must be 19 years of age or older to sign your waiver. Anyone under 19 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver for them.
I’m mobility impaired, can I still go?
We don’t recommend this tour for those with neck or back injuries. If you’d like to discuss your situation further, please feel free to call us at (604) 736-5155
Should I tip my tour guide?
If you feel your tour captain has provided a great experience, gratuities are encouraged— and welcomed—at the end of your tour. We believe that recognizing excellent service is a personal matter, though 15-20% of your ticket price is a good rule of thumb.

The 2024 Vancouver marathon and 7 other events to check out this weekend
The first weekend of May is a busy one in Vancouver, with a marathon, the start of a documentary film festival, and activities and events for Asian Heritage Month, not to mention a pair of Pearl Jam concerts on either side of a possible (but hopefully unnecessary) Canucks Game 7 at Rogers Arena.
Here's what's going on:
Vancouver marathon
The annual BMO Vancouver Marathon takes place Sunday, with more than 20,000 participants expected to compete in either the full, half or 8K courses.
Non-runners will line the routes to cheer on those who are racing, and organizers are also hosting block parties on race day on Cambie Street, in Kitsilano, at English Bay, in Coal Harbour and at the marathon finish line downtown.
There's also a free health, sports and lifestyle expo at the Vancouver Convention Centre on Friday and Saturday. Lots more information can be found on the marathon website .
DOXA film festival begins
The first screenings of the 23rd annual DOXA Documentary Film Festival are Thursday night, and the event continues with daily screenings through May 12.
There are also panel discussions, public forums and educational programs. Festival events take place at four venues downtown, and tickets can be purchased for the whole festival or for individual events. Visit the DOXA website to learn more.
'East of the Sun'
A pair of concerts, one in Vancouver and one in New Westminster, will celebrate Asian jazz fusion this weekend.
Dubbed 'East of the Sun,' the shows feature SE:UM – a Korean ensemble that "masterfully combines traditional Korean folk melodies with shamanistic rhythms," according to organizers – and Jasmine Jazz – a group that uses traditional Chinese instruments and contemporary jazz rhythms.
The New Westminster concert takes place Friday night at The Anvil, located at 777 Columbia St., while the Vancouver show takes place Saturday at The Annex, 823 Seymour St. Tickets can be purchased online .
Got Craft Spring Market
Got Craft is hosting its spring market at the Maritime Labour Centre at 1880 Triumph St. in East Vancouver this weekend.
More than 80 local "makers" and small businesses will sell their wares from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There's also a "mini makers market" for vendors under age 16, plus food trucks and swag bags, according to organizers. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online or at the door.
Dinosaurs at Pacific Coliseum
Also in East Van this weekend is "Jurassic Quest," a travelling dinosaur exhibit that bills itself as "the largest and most realistic" in North America.
The interactive exhibit will be at the PNE's Pacific Coliseum Thursday through Sunday, featuring life-sized dinosaur models, rides, crafts and more. Ticket information can be found through the Jurassic Quest website .
Art in the City
Head to the West End Community Centre on Saturday or Sunday for the annual " Art in the City " fine art market.
Artists working in various media, including painting, sculpture, photography and digital media, will be selling their work from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Filipino composer exhibit
Western Front is debuting its new exhibition "Echoes Beyond the Archipelago" with a reception Friday night at its gallery, located at 303 E. 8th Ave. in Vancouver.
The show features the work of Filipino composer and ethnomusicologist José Maceda , "a significant, yet little known figure" in the history of 20th century music, according to organizers.
On display through July 27, the exhibit features "photographs, print ephemera, objects, and scores that recreate Maceda’s archives." It's also complemented by a performance of his composition "Udlot Udlot" on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Yaletown.
This weekend is also the 12th annual LiterASIAN Writers Festival, a series of talks and events featuring Asian Canadian writers.
The theme of this year's festival is "redress," and organizers promise "a compassionate and informative literary dialogue, where writers will explore the importance of amplifying Asian Canadian voices, promoting cultural understanding, and fostering a society that embraces diversity with open arms."
A schedule of events and ticket information can be found on the festival's website .
