Nonstop Flights From Washington D.C. To The Caribbean

Aerial view of Paradise Island in the Bahamas

The Caribbean has long cemented its place atop the list of dream destinations thanks to its idyllic island escapes. In 2022 alone, as reported by the Caribbean Tourism Organization , the region witnessed a remarkable influx of American tourists, with a record 14.6 million visitors enjoying its turquoise waters, palm tree-lined beaches, and lush tropical forests. The same report notes that over half of its total visitors were Americans (at least in 2021) — a clear indication of its growing popularity as a go-to vacation spot for U.S. travelers.

However, this trend is hardly surprising, given the Caribbean's proximity to the United States, especially for those residing on the East Coast. It's like having a tropical paradise right in your backyard. Access to the islands has been bolstered by an increasing number of nonstop flights, effectively eliminating the stress of missed connections and navigating through chaotic airports. All it takes is a single flight to reach your choice of island sanctuary. For those living in Washington D.C., major U.S. airlines like United and Southwest offer direct flights to 10 Caribbean destinations.

Whether you want  an unforgettable vacation in Aruba , Cancún (which, indeed, is technically part of the Caribbean), or perhaps Turks and Caicos , here are the nonstop flights you can take straight from the nation's capital. This curated list features information on airlines offering direct flights, expected flight times to each destination, and the airports of departure — particularly Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), or Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

From the Capitol to the tropics

United Airlines

United Airlines, by far, has the highest number of direct flights from Washington D.C. to the Caribbean, totaling 10 options. With flights jetting out of IAD, you can head straight to a handful of Caribbean destinations, including Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA), Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM), Cyril E. King Airport (STT), Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) and Providenciales International Airport (PLS).

  • Aruba – 4 hours, 25 minutes (IAD-AUA)
  • Bahamas – 2 hours, 50 minutes (IAD-NAS)
  • Cancún – 3 hours, 50 minutes (IAD-CUN)
  • Cayman Islands – 3 hours, 40 minutes (IAD-GCM)
  • Dominican Republic – 3 hours, 45 minutes (IAD-PUJ)
  • Jamaica – 3 hours, 35 minutes (IAD-MBJ)
  • Puerto Rico – 3 hours, 46 minutes (IAD-SJU)
  • Saint Thomas – 3 hours, 55 minutes (IAD – STT)
  • Sint Maarten – 4 hours, 10 minutes (IAD-SXM)
  • Turks and Caicos – 3 hours, 15 minutes (IAD-PLS)

Southwest Airlines

Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines, which operates from BWI, can fly straight to Cancún International Airport (CUN), Punta Cana Airport (PUJ), Sangster International Airport (MBJ), and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU).

  • Aruba – 4 hours, 30 minutes (BWI-AUA)
  • Bahamas – 2 hours, 40 minutes (BWI-NAS)
  • Cancún – 3 hours, 50 minutes (BWI-CUN)
  • Dominican Republic – 3 hours, 50-55 minutes (BWI-PUJ)
  • Jamaica – 3 hours, 30-40 minutes (BWI-MBJ)
  • Puerto Rico – 4 hours (BWI-SJU)

More options for direct flights

While United Airlines and Southwest Airlines have more options for direct flights to the Caribbean, you don't necessarily have to stick to them. Other major airlines like American Airlines and JetBlue also offer some flights to the Caribbean from DCA, although they're only limited to the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. Budget airlines, particularly Frontier and Spirit, both of which fly from BWI, have direct flights from Washington D.C. to Cancún and Puerto Rico as well. At the end of the day, it all boils down to your budget and the airport you want to fly out of.

American Airlines

  • Bahamas – 2 hours, 47-59 minutes (DCA-NAS)
  • Puerto Rico – 3 hours, 43 minutes (DCA-SJU)
  • Cancún – 4 hours, 5 minutes (BWI-CUN)
  • Puerto Rico – 3 hours, 58 minutes (BWI-SJU)
  • Cancún – 3 hours, 54 minutes (BWI-CUN)
  • Puerto Rico – 3 hours, 52 minutes (BWI-SJU)

History fans will enjoy the C&O Canal National Historical Park , Allegheny Museum and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad . For golf, spa and casino, consider staying at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort .

Amtrak trains arrive early evening and return to D.C. in the morning, so two nights in Cumberland is recommended. Note that you can also travel from Rockville, Maryland to Cumberland if that station is closer to you. Travel time is just over three hours from D.C. and just under three hours from Rockville.

Staunton, Virginia

Step back in time with a train trip on the Cardinal to Staunton, Virginia . It is the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, and you can visit his presidential library and museum while you’re there. The historic and walkable city also has an antique automobile museum , festivals , and the world’s only replica of Shakepeare’s indoor theatre , complete with live performances.

Rental cars are available through Enterprise , but call ahead to make sure they can pick you up from the train station. You can use the car to explore the Shenandoah Valley and drive to attractions including the Frontier Culture Museum , Natural Chimneys Park , Grand Taverns and Star B Stables . Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach oceanfront with boat

For beach time and plenty of outdoor events and activities, take the Northeast Regional to Norfolk, Virginia. In Norfolk, you can rent a car or take Uber or Lyft to reach Virginia Beach (25-minute drive). Choose from many different lodging options there, walk the three-mile boardwalk , visit the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Center and Neptune’s Park , which has free concerts.

Travel time to Norfolk from Washington D.C. is about 4.5 hours, with an arrival in the evening. For the return trip, trains depart in the morning, with only one 6:15 a.m. train on Saturday and Sunday, so you may want to choose the weekday 9 a.m. train for your trip home.

Roanoke, Virginia skyline

In the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Roanoke, Virginia is five hours away from Washington D.C. on Amtrak. With a rental car, you can visit Mill Mountain Park and Carvins Cove Nature Preserve to spend time in the great outdoors. You can also view the Roanoke River with a walk, jog or bike ride on the Roanoke Valley Greenway near downtown.

Rail fans will love that the city has the biggest collection of steam and diesel locomotives in the United States. You can walk to the Virginia Museum of Transportation from the Amtrak station to view the locomotives, along with the Taubman Museum of Art , other museums, hotels and restaurants.

Since the Northeast Regional train arrives in the evening, plan to get your rental car the next morning if you intend to get one ( Enterprise is closest; call ahead to see if they can pick you up). It’s an early morning departure back to D.C., so staying here at least two nights is recommended. It is also best to plan your return trip on Saturday or Sunday as the train departure time is around 9 a.m. Otherwise, on weekdays, the train departs at 6 a.m.

Connecticut

Mystic, Connecticut

Connecticut has many destinations on the Northeast Regional route that are great for families, friends and couples. Bridgeport is a relaxing summer getaway that’s only five hours away from D.C. on the train. Seaside Park is one of Connecticut’s best beaches, and there’s also a zoo , lighthouse and waterfront park to explore.

Mystic (pictured above) is a historic seaport village that is another great travel option. It is about 6.5 hours away from Washington D.C. via train, and is especially charming in the fall. There are events to check out all year long, a walkable downtown area, boat tours and attractions including the Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport Museum .

If you prefer more urban amenities, head to the bigger cities in Connecticut for museums, theaters and historic sites. New Haven is five hours away from D.C. on the Acela, and Hartford is a seven-hour train trip on Northeast Regional or Vermonter trains. Hartford contains the homes of Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe in case you are a literary fan or are traveling with one. In New Haven, you can check out the great art scene, Yale University museums , and the train station , which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

North Carolina

Lake Lynn Raleigh

Take Amtrak from the U.S. capital to North Carolina’s capital on either the Silver Star or Carolinian train. Travel time is about six hours, and the Carolinian arrives in Raleigh around dinnertime and the Silver Star later in the evening. In the morning, you can visit the many museums near the Amtrak station; favorites include the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences , North Carolina Museum of Art and the North Carolina Museum of History .

If being outdoors is more your thing, you can get a Lyft or Uber ride to Pullen Park (the fifth oldest operating amusement park in the United States), Lake Lynn (pictured above) and Umstead State Park . All of these destinations are great for kids, and there are many other kid-friendly things to do in the city.

Durham , home of Duke University, and Greensboro , are also on the Carolinian route (seven and eight hours away). There is a beautiful botanical garden , performing arts center , great food scene and Eno River State Park to explore in Durham. In Greensboro, you can visit the International Civil Rights Center , Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden , Guilford Courthouse National Military Park , the Greensboro Arboretum and other attractions.

Return trains to D.C. depart in the morning, so plan to stay in North Carolina for at least two nights. Note that Greensboro is also on the Crescent route, and Crescent trains offer a quicker travel time to and from D.C. (just over six hours vs eight hours on the Carolinian).

Westerly Rhode Island Beach

For a quintessential summer beach vacation, ride Amtrak to Westerly, Rhode Island . There are many beaches , nature parks and water sports to keep you busy. Plus, the Watch Hill village features a historic carousel , lighthouse , ice cream shops, restaurants and retail stores that kids and adults will enjoy. If you have a rainy day, visit the Living Sharks Museum , Grey Sail Brewing (tours and tastings available), Westerly Armory or one of the city’s art galleries. Travel time is about seven hours on the Northeast Regional , with several departure options to and from Washington D.C.

Boston in Autumn

If there is a time to ride the Acela Express train, it’s from D.C. to Boston . Travel time is one hour faster than the Northeast Regional, about 7 hours. It’s a great fall getaway, craft beer destination, and place to experience American history via The Freedom Trail . If you’re looking for more things to do, go to a baseball game at Fenway Park or visit the Museum of Fine Arts , Boston Public Garden , Boston Common , Samuel Adams Brewery or the many other attractions.

There are multiple Amtrak trains that travel between Boston and Washington D.C. daily, so trip planning can be based on your travel preferences. One night in the city is doable if you have limited time. Depending on where you decide to get a hotel room, Airbnb or other lodging, keep in mind that you can book your tickets to either the Back Bay Station or South Station .

Charleston, South Carolina buildings

Get your fill of Southern food, beaches and history with a trip to Charleston, South Carolina . The Palmetto Amtrak route offers the best arrival time (around 7 p.m.) after the nine-hour journey from D.C. It’s about a 20-minute Uber or Lyft ride to downtown Charleston and 25 minutes to the Isle of Palms , where you can book accommodations near the ocean. If you prefer to rent a car, plan to use a rideshare service to reach rental car options at the airport .

For the return trip, the Palmetto departs daily in the morning, or take the Silver Meteor train back to D.C. in the evening. Regardless of the option you choose, you’ll need to stay at least one night in South Carolina. Be sure to visit Fort Sumpter if you enjoy American history and historical sites.

New River Gorge

New River Gorge Bridge

The Cardinal Amtrak route is one of the most scenic in the eastern United States, especially the segment through the New River Gorge. Plan your trip in late spring or summer to view the scenery, with Charleston, West Virginia as your destination. This 9.5 hours rail journey will let you see the gorge from the train, and once you are in Charleston, you’ll have multiple lodging options, restaurants and an Enterprise car rental office in walking distance of the Amtrak station.

The train departs D.C., Alexandria and Charleston on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays only. Plan to stay at least two nights in Charleston or in the surrounding area. The best weekend option is to leave on Friday morning and return to D.C. on Sunday morning. If you decide to rent a car, you can drive about an hour to the New River Gorge National Park to explore more of the beautiful scenery and hike, fish, rock climb or go whitewater rafting. Cabins, motels and other lodging options are near the park if you’d rather not stay in downtown Charleston.

Brattleboro

direct travel washington dc

An artsy town on the Connecticut River with outdoor recreation and local food galore, Brattleboro is about nine hours away from D.C. on the Vermonter . You can walk from the station to restaurants, a theater, art center, kayak/canoe rental company and trails (including at the Wantastiquet Mountain Natural Area ).

With a rental car ( Enterprise offers pick-up service), you can also check out Fort Dummer State Park , Mount Snow for skiing, Creamery Covered Bridge and Robb Family Farm for maple syrup. The train arrives in the early evening, so you’ll need to pick up a car rental on the following day. Plan to walk to an Airbnb, other type of vacation rental or the Latchis Hotel after arriving.

Forsyth Park Savannah Georgia

Book tickets on the Palmetto train for an 11-hour daytime Amtrak trip to Savannah, Georgia . You’ll arrive around 9 p.m., and the historic district (along with its many hotels) is 10-minute Lyft or Uber ride away. In the morning, walk to restaurants and explore the parks, squares, cemeteries and River Street (pictured top of page). Many tours and river cruises are also options for sightseeing.

If you want to rent a car, there is an Enterprise in downtown Savannah. Tybee Island beaches are a 30-minute drive away. When you’re ready to head back north, you can choose from a morning or early evening Amtrak train to D.C.

View from Navy Pier Ferris Wheel

For a vacation full of great food, live music, museums and lake time, head to Chicago on the Capitol Limited or Cardinal train. The Capitol Limited travels there in about 17.5 hours, which is the fastest option. Although the trip time is about six hours longer on the Cardinal, you’ll be able to travel through the New River Gorge as a perk.

Regardless of which route you choose, you’ll spend one night on the train and arrive in the Windy City in the morning. The Chicago Loop is a short walk away from the Amtrak station as well as several CTA train stations and a water taxi stop, making it easy to get around. Lyft and Uber are also available, so you don’t need a rental car.

Check event calendars to plan your trip around one of the many festivals or concerts, or visit top attractions including the Art Institute of Chicago , 360 Chicago Observation Deck , Millennium Park , Field Museum , Chicago Riverwalk , Navy Pier , Lakefront Trail , Magnificent Mile , Wrigley Field and so much more. We recommend staying in Chicago at least one night, although you can easily stay multiple nights to enjoy all that the city offers.

The trains to Washington D.C. depart Chicago in the early evening — note that the Cardinal only runs three days each week, but the Capitol Limited is daily. You can even choose to ride both routes; one to Chicago and the other to D.C. to experience both.

Florida Sunrise Atlantic Ocean

Florida is an easy overnight train trip from Washington D.C. There are three daily Amtrak routes to choose from: Auto Train , Silver Meteor and Silver Star . You can board the Silver Service trains at Union Station or in Alexandria, and the Auto Train departs from Lorton, Virginia (you must be transporting a vehicle in order to book tickets on this route).

The shortest Florida trip is to Jacksonville on the Silver Meteor, which takes about 14 hours, and you’ll be sleeping for a large portion of that time. There’s a great mix of beaches, parks and cultural amenities, including the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens , Cummer Museum of Art and Riverside Arts Market . One night in Jacksonville is an option if you can only be away from D.C. for a few days.

The Silver Meteor and Silver Star also travel to Winter Park and Orlando (about 17 hours on the Silver Meteor), with many theme parks a Lyft or Uber ride away, including Walt Disney World , Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld . It’s also a 17-hour overnight trip between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida on the Auto Train. From Sanford, you can easily drive to Orlando, Cape Canaveral and Daytona Beach.

While you can travel to any of the Amtrak stations in Florida , keep in mind that only the Silver Star goes to Tampa (21.5 hours) and nearby cities. The Miami Station is the last stop in the Sunshine State, with a travel time of 23 hours on the Silver Meteor and 27 on the Silver Star.

New Orleans

New Orleans French Quarter

The longest train trip you can take from Washington D.C. (without changing trains) is to New Orleans . At the end of the Crescent route, the city is just slightly farther away from Miami with a travel time of 27.5 hours. You’ll spend one night on the train, cross over the longest railroad bridge in the United States, and arrive in the evening. Plan to take a taxi, Lyft or Uber to your hotel after getting off the train.

Besides the amazing food, music and festivals , you can walk or ride streetcars around New Orleans to explore the Garden District , French Quarter , Jackson Square and the oldest cemetery in city. Other top sights include the National World World II Museum , Audubon Zoo and the New Orleans Museum of Art .

Plan to stay in New Orleans at least two nights (three is better). It’s a morning Amtrak departure back to D.C.

Is Kansas city Missouri on the list to Washington

You can’t travel directly between Kansas City and Washington D.C. (or Washington State). East Coast Amtrak trains only travel as far west at Chicago or New Orleans.

Flights to Washington D.C. (DCA, IAD)

It's the proud capital of the United States of America, a fact that’s abundantly clear every time you visit its glorious monuments. Drive along the Potomac River, take in the majestic Lincoln Memorial, marvel at the stunning simplicity of the National Monument - not to mention the iconic Capitol building - and you will be awed. But this is a living city, too - a travel destination with premier universities like Georgetown and George Washington. And it’s got world-class shopping with a modern design center downtown as well as shopping streets dedicated to furniture and accessories, antiques and fashion. And then there are the museums - for fine arts, decorative arts, beaux arts, fashion, culture, textile, history and international art. It’s a melting pot in microcosm, making it a very big small town. Visit a restaurant or attend an art show, and you may feel a little like a resident because they are not blasé. They appreciate that they reside in an area rich in cultural and entertainment opportunities.

The Washington, D.C. area has two major airports to choose from. Ronald Reagan National Airport is located just outside the District in Arlington, Virginia ¾ a quick three miles south of downtown. Dulles International Airport is 26 miles west of downtown in Chantilly, Virginia. While Reagan National Airport primarily serves as a “short-haul” airport, offering non-stop service to destinations within 1,250 miles, Dulles International Airport services farther-flung and international destinations. Both airports feature plenty of shopping and dining choices, along with free WiFi, pet relief areas, charging stations and nursing rooms for mothers.

THE NATIONAL MALL

In Washington, D.C., the Mall is the place to be. This two-mile stretch of greenbelt - dotted with the city's most important monuments and the legendary Smithsonian museums - is a great place to experience the city. In 1829, James Smithson, an English chemist, bequeathed his estate to the United States to found in Washington “an Establishment for the increase & diffusion of knowledge among men.” Today the Smithsonian is made up of 19 museums and galleries on the Mall, along with the National Zoo in the Woodley Park neighborhood ¾ all of which charge no admission. Be sure to visit the National Air and Space Museum, one of the Smithsonian’s most popular establishments, and see the Apollo 11 Command Module and the Spirit of St. Louis among many other exhibits. The National Museum of the American Indian features more than 800,000 objects dedicated to telling the stories of American Indians native to regions ranging from the Andes and Amazon to the Great Plains and the Northwest Coast. And you won’t want to miss the National Gallery of Art. Though separate from the Smithsonian, it’s also free of charge and located on the Mall. It features one of the finest collections of art in the world, spanning from the Middle Ages to present day.

Washington is home to storied theatrical institutions including the National Theatre, the Kennedy Center and Ford’s Theatre. Throughout the District you’ll find local bars and music venues that celebrate the city’s close connection to jazz (it was the hometown of jazz pioneer Duke Ellington).

HISTORY & POLITICS

Proximity to power is a theme that’s well associated with Washington. It’s an idea that locals take for granted when their morning commutes are interrupted by the Presidential motorcade. Get a taste of the action by touring the U.S. Capitol or visiting the White House Visitor Center (pro tip: contact your Congressional or State Representative for tickets to a more exclusive tour). And visit the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence and the National Museum of American History to see the flag that inspired the “Star Spangled Banner.”

RESTAURANTS

In recent years, Washington has seen an explosion in its restaurant scene. For upscale dining, hit downtown's West End and East End or trendy food destinations like 14th Street and Shaw; these neighborhoods offer everything from steakhouse power meals to minibar, in Penn Quarter, a one-of-a-kind, communal eatery that serves a 30-course meal. Or head to Capitol Hill and try Rose’s Luxury, recently named the best new restaurant in America by  Bon Appetit . D.C. is also the place for international cuisine. You'll find excellent Ethiopian, Chinese, Salvadoran, Italian and Columbian food to satisfy your taste buds. Then treat yourself to the spoils of the capital's cupcake wars. Georgetown Cupcakes’ around-the-block line is proof their confections are a serious business; Baked and Wired or Sprinkles will make you smile, too.

Washington winters are usually chilly with some snow while its summers are hot and humid. Spring and fall, on the other hand, are mild to warm. The former season is famous for bringing with it the blooming cherry blossom trees around the D.C. Tidal Basin. Average winter temperatures are around 38°F and the July daily average temperature is about 80°F.

Airlines announce plans to launch direct flights between DC and San Antonio, San Diego

I n the wake of a U.S. House of Representatives vote approving more long-distance flights at Reagan National Airport (DCA), airlines have announced plans to launch daily non-stop flights between DCA and both San Diego and San Antonio.

On Wednesday American Airlines announced it will apply to the U.S. Department of Transportation to allow it to launch a daily direct flight between Reagan National Airport and San Antonio International Airport (SAT).

Also Wednesday, Alaska Airlines announced it will apply to run a direct flight between DCA and San Diego International Airport (SAN).

ALSO READ |  Metro's new bus system proposal could eliminate more than 600 stops, rename routes

Southwest Airlines told 7News it also planned to apply for one of the new round-trip flights, but has not yet said to which city.

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and part of the bill included permission for five additional 1,250-plus-mile round-trip flights a day at Reagan National Airport. The Senate had already passed the bill, and it is expected to be signed by President Biden within the next day.

Currently, a rule called the “perimeter rule” only permits 20 round-trip long-distance flights a day (20 coming and 20 going) at DCA, so the new FAA bill will raise that number to 25.

If the President signs the FAA reauthorization bill as expected, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg would have 60 days to award the five new daily long-distance flights to airlines. He is supposed to consider two criteria: bringing flights to airports that currently don’t have service with DCA, and bringing flights to areas where the flights will have a positive impact on the level of competition.

Alaska already operates two daily long-distance flights between Reagan National and Seattle, as well as one flight between DCA and Los Angeles and another one to and from Portland, Oregon.

American already runs two round trip flights a day to Los Angeles, as well as three to Phoenix and one to Las Vegas.

In addition those 1,250+ mile flights, Southwest runs a daily trip to and from Austin, Frontier has three to and from Denver, United also has one between DCA and Denver in addition to one to and from San Francisco, JetBlue has a round trip flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Delta operates one flight between Reagan and Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco.

Although supporters of the change to the perimeter rule say it will increase competition, drive down prices, and give travelers more choices, the change was controversial.

Opponents – including D.C. and Maryland senators and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority – said DCA is already very busy and the change will increase delays and congestion. Some critics say the change will even potentially be dangerous because so many flights take off and land throughout the day; they point to a near miss at DCA last month.

“More competition, more flight options is generally a good thing for consumers looking to book a flight and hoping to have as many options as they can for when they travel and where they travel,” said Sean Cudahy, aviation reporter for the travel website The Points Guy. “However we do continue to hear concerns from lawmakers, and from the airports authority even, about what this could mean for delays. The East Coast, Reagan, the airspace around here is heavily congested.”

Cudahy says it’s likely the Secretary of Transportation will select some cities that will receive service to and from DCA for the first time, and others that already have at least one daily flight to and from Reagan National.

“A lot of the big cities out West do already have flights here,” he said. “Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, they’re already on the map so to speak from Reagan, so I think it’s definitely a possibility that you could see airlines apply for more frequencies to some of these cities.”

Top 5 airlines serving from Washington, D.C. to Italy

I flew Delta last week and United Airlines is a poor substitute mechanical problems with the plane and shitty food among other things made my travel experience what’s become to be expected from United no way is it ever worth the money they make us pay

We ended up with seats in the very back. So they did not recline. Have no idea why, we reserved and checked in very early. The isles were very narrow and the seats had very little leg room. But they did give us water, and a snack.

Should have video screens Plane audio was poor and without wired connection hard to understand crew. Should serve more than just cups of water and pretzels on six hour flight. Did not see crew rest of flight. Fix charging sockets to retain charging blocks.

Food was terrible Not many options Stewards dont care Delay

The ride was good but no food ot entertainment hence, it was just over an hour flight.

they made me check my carryon. There was space in the overhead bins.

The plane was delayed 2 hours. The wifi did not work. The seat in first class was not comfortable because the bottom felt like it lost all of its padding. And I did not like when the flight attendant made me wait at my seat to use the bathroom and didn't tell me why. If there were too many people using the 1st Class bathroom, she should have told me to go in the back, coach bathrooms. I guess I have to feel fortunate that they found 2 local pilots to still fly the plane tonight after the original pilots ended up at an airport 60 miles away due to high winds.

The crew were really great, but the 4 hour delay in small chunks was the worst.

Every experience was good except for the lack of comfort in those economy seats. I never had knee pain until that flight. Those seats are uncomfortable.

I bought internet for the flight. Don’t waste your money. I wasn’t able to download a 1 Mb file from Google Docs during a 3-4 hr period. You can only use WhatsApp and email if you are willing to wait.

On-time flight. Nothing out of the ordinary. The food offering upfront could be better.

I thought Miami's airport was very disorganized during the Boarding.

Very efficient boarding - other airlines could learn from them. Friendly, efficient crew. Red eye flight, so dinner meal was irrelevant. Breakfast could have been more substantial. Seats reasonably comfy.

People seated in exit rows should have designated overhead space

The airline made last minute changes to our business class seats splitting our family of 4 with young children who had pre-booked a row of 4 seats. The seat was also dirty and sticky. Our pre-ordered child meals were also not available. :(

Perfect although it took an hour to board the plane but other than that it was great

Everything was nearly perfect, and TAP staff were especially helpful when we missed our connecting flights and had to get on the next flight to Rome. The only aspect that could have been better was boarding: it was somewhat disorganized, which created a bit of stress. But in the end, everyone got on the plane, so the less-then-perfect boarding process did not take away from the overall excellent experience.

The quality of the aircraft and the professionalism of TAP's staff were perfect. The quality of vegan meals can be hit or miss depending on the airline and the city of departure; on this flight, our vegan meals were quite good. The boarding process for the connecting flight in Lisbon could have been organized a bit better, but it did not spoil our overall experience with TAP, which was excellent. I'd definitely recommend TAP to others.

We liked the crew. They were competent, professional and friendly. The only big negative was our departure was delayed several times and the airport staff did not communicate what the problems were and what we should expect.

Two of three flight attendants were not super kind as I would expect. The very kind young lady in my section was wonderful but then lady and man up front were not. Sorry but it makes a difference !

Poor, we had 1 hour to grab our checked luggage, go through customs, recheck bags and run across terminals to make our United flight. Poorly planned connections.

Check in in Albuquerque was awful. The people were great but they were over loaded. The procedures were terrible. We got through fine but it took 90+ minutes.

Will try to not fly with them again. Delays because of weather but got redirected to an airport where I could not make connection.

Staff didn’t care in business class. Closed the door on my mom while she was on the jetbridge and flight attendant told me she would make it from the connecting flight. They lied. My luggage was damaged on arrival. No success in filing damage claim.

Boston Logan is a crummy airport - signage is terrible or lacking in areas. Boarding seemed to be a free for all and with all the different airlines speaking, you couldn't tell who was supposed to be where and when. Plain and simple, airlines should board from the back of the plane to the front. Also someone was sitting in my seat. By the time that was figured out, I had to place my overhead behind me which made de-planing more difficult. Logan is not Lufthansa's fault so that is not on them, Boarding is on them! Still, overall it was a Good Experience flying with Lufthansa. This is not my first flight with them...

Overall, the flight was comfortable without any serious issues. Transit through Frankfurt airport was a little confusing, but not too difficult if you follow the signs

There was a screaming child behind our seats. This prevented us from getting any sleep during the night.

There was a screaming child just behind our seats. This prevented us from getting any sleep during the night!!

Staff disappeared after dinner service until breakfast, no help with beds, no help running to our gate to catch connection cause flight was late, our luggage didn’t make it, took over 24 hours to get luggage to hotel, no compensation!!

Everything was good except food. I believe there is room for improvement

We left our sons tablet on the British Airways plane And we can’t get a hold of anyone to try to locate it. I have to call multiple numbers.

Boarding was as fast and efficient as possible. The flight crew were amazing and extremely friendly. We enjoyed our flight.

Very bed boarding, there was overbooked and make a lot of problems and noises

There was a problem in the luggage because there were not porters

On my way from Chicago to London, I was seated next to a quite heavy passenger. I could barely move. BA should have ensured that overweight customers are placed in comfortable seats and not to penalize also other passengers because BA is not willing to accommodate these passengers and their needs. No respect at all.

The flight as far as timings go was excellent. Unfortunately we ended up sat with someone on a night flight who had been drinking alcohol before boarding and BA staff were happily serving him more alcohol. He was very drunk which made our flight uncomfortable and awkward. My partner had this person lying on him whilst asleep. Alcohol should be served minimally. If there had been an emergency this person would not have been in a fit state to act accordingly.

First time flying with BA and I will do it again. Staff at airport and on board were very nice and helpful

they are improving. The crew from Charlotte to Tampa was outstanding. SMILING and trying to be helpful with the customers.

Wonderful service and very comfy in the bulkhead in Economy Plus! Delicious food.

The BA team at Sky Harbor is deplorable, full of unnecessary attitude and poor communication. It seems like every member of the team was looking at another to solve the problem, instead of taking agency to do so themselves. I saw no less than 6 altercations with the same gate agent where he threatened to revoke the passengers boarding pass for asking a wildly reasonable question, something as simple as where the cue to board was. I’ve complained to BA before but it seems this isn’t an issue for them, which is very disappointing

AMS FCO in their full flat business. Amazing sear and food experience.

It was a short haul trip, so food and entertainment weren’t a big issue

The plane seemed very dated. The entertainment was very limited. There was a school group on our flight and the crew seemed bothered by them. They were not overly friendly or welcoming.

Ok, but no entertainment. Left late, but made up most of the time.

May be it is not an ITA issue, but the bags took long time to go out.

Good. But there food was poor quality and 95% of movies didn't have English subtitles

I thought they had rebranded themselves in every aspect but it was quite the opposite. The food was terrible the service was sub-par. Overall it was not a good experience.

Service from staff was poor, food choices were limited. Air plane was not clean or hygienic and seemed like not cleaned for days. Seats were uncomfortable.

service from stAff was barely there , food choices were limited. AirPlane was not clean and seemed like it was not cleaned for days.. Seats were very uncomfortable.

I paid for premium seats and the last minute they changed the aircraft for a bigger one, they bumped me to another seat which was NOT at all comfortable for an 11 hour flight, will fight for a refund!!
