Sentosa 1 Day Itinerary: What To Do On Singapore’s Island Of Fun

Singapore is pretty clever.

It never had a lot of space to build giant theme parks and uber-luxurious resorts, nor did it have the pristine beaches of neighbouring countries Malaysia and Indonesia. So, it built an island that became the tourism capital of Singapore.

That island, Sentosa , is now home to some of the world’s most prestigious resorts, action-packed theme parks, fast food and fine dining restaurants, and the best beaches in Singapore.

Some tourists spend their entire vacation on Sentosa while others just visit for a day.

A day trip to Sentosa presents endless options for attractions, food, and fun. Here’s how I suggest spending a day on Sentosa.

Money Tip: Get the cheapest attraction tickets on Sentosa from GetYourGuide . I use them for every vacation - fast, easy, safe and cheap.

Singapore Tip: Get fast mobile Internet everywhere in Singapore with an eSIM from aloSIM  (only $6.50).

Singapore Tip: If you love Singapore so much you want to start a business here , check out this Singapore company formation guide.

9:45am – Grab a Ride to Sentosa

Sentosa is connected to mainland Singapore by road, sky-train, cable car, and pedestrian bridge. If, like me, you have a lot to squeeze into your day, the quickest way to get there is via taxi or rideshare app Grab .

Tip: Vehicles are charged a fee of S$2-$6 to enter Sentosa unless visiting a resort, theme park or attraction. Buy tickets online in advance and flash the confirmation ticket or receipt at the guardhouse to gain free entry.

10am – Pose with Celebrities at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

Madame Tussauds offers encounters with life-like wax sculptures of your favourite celebrities.

sentosa island day trip

The first exhibit, World Leaders, displays past political figures from Singapore, Malaysia, China and India as well as easily recognised world leaders like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi, Barak Obama and Queen Elizabeth II.

Another exhibit is dedicated to Film and TV with scenes from blockbuster movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Terminator, and ET. Most scenes have a spot free for you to re-enact your favourite scene beside the iconic characters.

My favourite exhibit was sports , where I got to “play” basketball with a waxy Yao Ming, currently the tallest NBA player. The sports exhibit is relatively interactive with golf putting against Tiger Woods, 1-on-1 basketball with Yao Ming, and a sit-up workout with David Beckham.

The featured attraction was a Marvel 4D experience. We got to dress up like Ironman, be rescued by Spiderman, and watch a 15-minute 4D movie based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (requires additional ticket). With 3D glasses in place, you can’t help but duck from Thor’s hammer or Spiderman’s webs thrown in your direction, especially when you feel a sudden puff of air down the back of your neck at the same time!

We arrived at the museum just after 10am before the crowds descended. We could wander around at leisure and take photos without having to wait too long or get in anyone’s way.

sentosa island day trip

Two other attractions are included in the main ticket price, a 5-minute indoor boat ride targeted at young children and Images of Singapore , an interactive educational exhibit that takes visitors on a walk through Singaporean history with real-life actors, sound effects and props (no photos allowed here).

Madame Tussauds is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 7:30pm Saturday and Sunday. Discount tickets can be purchased online at Voyagin .

12pm – Walk to Silosa Beach for Lunch

We took a stroll down Merlion Walk for lunch on the familiar white beach sands imported from my home state, Western Australia.

sentosa island day trip

There are a few restaurants to choose from on Silosa Beach . We ate at Flame , a small, casual eatery with seating on the beach sand under the shade of coconut trees. Flame serves typical western bistro food, like beef sliders, pizza, and roast chicken.

1pm – Catch the Sky Train to Resorts World Sentosa

Not prepared to walk back in Singapore’s heat and humidity, we caught the free sky train from Beach Station to Waterfront Station to continue our fun-filled day.

1.15pm – Visit S.E.A. Aquarium

It’s pretty impossible to fit more than two theme parks into one afternoon. Universal Studios is a must for the late afternoon/evening, leaving the early afternoon S.E.A. Aquarium.

S.E.A Aquarium is one of the largest and best laid out aquariums I’ve ever visited. The aquarium’s many tanks house over 100,000 underwater animals of all sizes and colours from oceans all around the world. There’s vibrant hues of orange, pink, yellow, purple, and even rainbow fish.

Main attractions include an overhead shark tank, dolphins, and a viewing gallery that’s like a giant fish tank crossed with a movie cinema. Spanning 36 meters, the tank glass is 700mm thick and weighs a whopping 250,000kgs! I could have sat at the gallery and watched the graceful sting rays, manta rays, fish, and sharks all day, but Universal Studios was calling.

The aquarium’s other attractions include creepy moray eels, jellyfish, starfish, and sea dragons.

sentosa island day trip

S.E.A. Aquarium is open 10am to 7pm Friday to Tuesday and 10am to 6pm Wednesday and Thursday. Discount tickets can be purchased online at Voyagin .

3pm: Visit Universal Studios

Universal Studios can take a whole day to experience fully, but it’s possible to visit in 2-4 hours if you don’t mind skipping a few rides.

From the moment you enter Universal Studios ’ gates, it feels like stepping inside a movie. The main street is lined with themed souvenir stores and cafes, like Minon Mart, which sells Minion branded clothing, toys, accessories, homewares, and souvenirs.

sentosa island day trip

The complex is structured into 7 themed zones. The craziest rides are without a doubt in the Sci Fi zone with giant rollercoasters inspired by Battlestar Galactica or Transformers that twist, tilt, and soar at extremely fast speeds. Not far behind on the crazy-scary-scale is the Ancient Egypt zone, with a jaw dropping indoor rollercoaster inspired by The Mummy .

The Lost World zone, based on the Jurassic Park movie franchise has a few hairy rides too. We tried one of the least adrenaline pumping rides, the Sky Flyer , which twisted and turned high above the dinosaur-themed jungle below for about 45 seconds before returning safely to solid ground.

My favourite zone was Happily Ever After, inspired by Shrek. After a short 5-minute wait to meet Shrek and Fiona, Fiona tried to run off with me, leaving poor Shrek heartbroken! After continuing the charade for a few moments, we smiled for our photo and went on our merry way.

sentosa island day trip

The fun continued with a 4D movie featuring the ghost of Lord Farquaad and then my favourite show, Donkey Live , a stand-up comedy act performed by the notoriously inappropriate Donkey. Since the main act was on a giant LCD screen, I was quite impressed by level of audience interaction. A charismatic host had members of the audience answer questions which the voice and animation of Donkey immediately and flawlessly responded to.

I got to see a special, Sesame Street 50 th anniversary exhibit as part of the regular New York zone. Most Sesame Street shows and meet and greets are only on in the morning, but we enjoyed walking around a recreated Sesame Street and stopping for a photo in Big Bird’s nest.

sentosa island day trip

Universal Studios is now open late on Fridays and Saturdays with pop up food stalls and live bands starting at 8pm and a firework display at 10pm.

I visited on a Saturday but surprisingly didn’t come across too many crowds. The longest we had to wait for a ride was 10 minutes, although I noticed some rides had longer lines with wait times up to 35 minutes.

sentosa island day trip

Universal Studios is open 10am to 7pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 10pm Friday and Saturday. Discount tickets can be purchased online at Voyagin .

7.30pm: Diner at Isle Quay

After all of the excitement at Universal Studios, we needed a little peace and quiet and Sentosa Cove was the perfect place to find it. The upmarket residential area has gated luxury condominiums, a marina full of luxury yachts, and Quayside Isle , a waterfront café strip lined with international restaurants and bars.

After a relaxing stroll along the harbour, we felt like Greek so enjoyed tasty moussaka and spanakopita at Mykonos on the Bay .

sentosa island day trip

Explore beyond Singapore: find the cheapest ferry prices to Batam , Indonesia or catch a bus to Kuala Lumpur .

Where to Stay near Sentosa

We stayed at  The Westin Singapore , a 10-minute drive from Resorts World Sentosa . The Westin is an ideal base to explore the whole of Singapore, being located in the centre of the city and walking distance to Marina Bay Sands .

My favourite aspect of this hotel was the amazing views of Singapore’s marina and iconic ArtScience Museum and Singapore Flyer , which are best enjoyed from the level 35 rooftop pool, Cook & Brew restaurant on level 33, or while enjoying the to-die-for buffet breakfast at Seasonal Tastes on level 32.

sentosa island day trip

The Westin’s Lobby Lounge was the consummate place to unwind with a cocktail after a long day out.

sentosa island day trip

And to finish it off, a soak in the bathtub (with amazing views too), and a super soft heavenly bed provided a restful night’s sleep.

sentosa island day trip

The following day called for a little recovery time, so we booked an appointment at the award-winning Heavenly Spa .

We felt rejuvenated after a 90-minute Lavender Spa Journey , which included a body scrub, massage and access to a steam room and jacuzzi (separate facilities for men and women). Just what was needed after a full day at Sentosa.

sentosa island day trip

The Bottom Line

It would be easy to spend a few days or even a whole week enjoying the beaches, theme parks, and adventure activities on Singapore’s Sentosa Island.

For the ultra-disciplined time management ninjas or simply short-of-time holidaymakers, it is possible to do Sentosa justice in as little as 1 day with this itinerary.

No matter how long you decide to spend on Sentosa, it promises to be an experience you’ll never forget.

Singapore experiences a warm and humid tropical climate year-round, with temperatures typically ranging from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

The island sees more rainfall between November and January, while the driest months are usually from February to April.

To avoid large crowds, try to plan your visit on weekdays or during the shoulder season, between May and July or September and October.

Purchasing Attraction Passes for Savings

To make the most of your visit and save money on admission fees, consider purchasing attraction passes, such as the Sentosa Fun Pass or the Singapore City Pass.

These passes offer discounted entry to multiple attractions on the island and additional perks and benefits.

Be sure to compare the various pass options and select the one that best fits your travel plans and preferences.

Planning Your Itinerary

With so many attractions and activities available on Sentosa Island, planning your itinerary in advance is essential to maximize your time.

Start by prioritizing your must-visit attractions and allocate enough time for each.

Be realistic about how much you can fit into each day, and try to group attractions that are located close to one another to minimize travel time.

Don’t forget to factor in time for meals, relaxation, and exploring the island at a leisurely pace.

Staying Safe and Comfortable

While visiting Sentosa Island, keep the following tips in mind to ensure a safe and comfortable experience:

  • Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen, as Singapore’s tropical climate can be intense, especially during peak daytime hours.
  • Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and appropriate footwear for walking and exploring the island.
  • Be cautious of your belongings, especially in crowded areas, and utilize hotel safes for valuables when possible.
  • Familiarize yourself with local customs and cultural etiquette to ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience.
  • In case of emergencies, take note of the contact details for your home country’s embassy or consulate in Singapore and the local emergency services numbers.

Recap of Sentosa Island’s Attractions and Activities

From adrenaline-pumping adventures at Universal Studios Singapore and the AJ Hackett Sentosa to leisurely beach days at Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong Beach, there’s something for everyone on this vibrant island.

True to its name, “State of Fun”. Sentosa is a perfect destination for fun and adventure seekers. A leisure and recreation Island packed with unmatched attractions and activities that cater to all age groups.

Visit to Sentosa Island was one of the most interesting and exciting parts of our trip to Singapore.

While planning the trip, my friends suggested keeping a day aside for Sentosa Island. To be honest I never imagined Sentosa would be so much fun. But when we visited this Island, I actually realized, the place was buzzing with action, excitement, and happy vibes. When we traveled to Sentosa, our son was 2.5 years old. So we decided to take it easy, making a point to enjoy every bit rather than focusing only on a checklist. In this post, I am sharing a day’s itinerary for families with young kids seeking to enjoy quality time in Sentosa Island.

Having said that, this itinerary does not cover all the major attractions but only those, which are feasible to cover in a day, considering all the walking around, humidity, and the fact that kids often get cranky. To know more about other family-friendly attractions in Singapore. Check out my previous blog. 10 family-friendly attractions in Singapore

Is one day enough to visit Sentosa?

Probably yes, if you start your day early and know which activities to take. (They have so much to offer, it’s very confusing to choose which one to take and which to leave, considering each activity has its own cost.) We wasted a lot of our time trying to understand the options.

In case you want to visit Universal studio also (which you should!) then surely you need 2 days, as Universal studio is a different world in itself.

This is how we spent a day in Sentosa Island.

Since it was our first day in Singapore, we were not sure about our itinerary, considering the variety of options available.

Keeping visit to Sentosa in mind (although still not sure), we reached Vivo mall. At Vivo mall, we enquired from a travel desk, which offered an overwhelming choice of exciting activities. It was really hard to choose, as everything was unique and exciting.

Finally, we zeroed down Sentosa Island along with cable car ride, SEA Aquarium, and wings of time (& other attractions including Universal studio, gardens by the bay, Singapore Zoo, and Duck tour for other days). It was already 11.30 a.m by the time ticketing was completed. So without wasting further time, we headed towards the cable car. Sharing the itinerary and experience here.

1) Cable car – Initially, it was difficult to find a way to cable car station. We were not sure if we are heading in the right direction. After walking across the mall and ferry terminal, finally we reached the boarding location. Since it was a weekday, the queue was not too long and we immediately got our turn. At first, it was a little scary to be hanging in the air with water below but the splendid view was worth every effort.

Although you can reach Sentosa through various modes, but the Cable car is the best option if you really want to make your trip memorable. Here you can enjoy the best panoramic view of the harbor and island. It’s surreal but slightly scary too. The cable car is available from the harbor front station. (also from Faber Peak). Cable car covers 2 lines.

Mount Faber Line

It starts from Singapore’s only hilltop destination, Faber Peak, cross the harbor, and then lands in Sentosa. It offers the most priceless view.

Sentosa Line

This line takes you through many attractions in Sentosa. You can choose to stop either at Merlion station, Imbiah Lookout station or Siloso Point station

Timing: Open daily: 8:45am to 10:00pm

Charges: Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass Round Trip Adult (including both the lines) – S$35.00, Child – S$25.00 (above 4 years of Age)

2) S.E.A Aquarium – The moment we landed at Sentosa, we were tempted to move around and explore the place. But we had to visit the S.E.A aquarium without wasting much time, as it was noon and the little one was sleepy already. We dint wanted him to miss the S.E.A aquarium. After a lot of walking, we arrived at the S.E.A Aquarium. The moment we crossed the first tunnel; a huge glass wall with many marine creatures moving in a rhythm greeted us. It was an amazing moment for us, especially this being our first visit to a large Aquarium. All of us were really excited to witness marine life so closely, especially big sharks and stingrays swimming freely in the blue water. It felt like we are walking inside the sea. SEA aquarium is one of the largest in Asia showcasing diverse marine species. It was not only exciting but also very relaxing. Just sitting and watching these creatures moving was a therapeutic and peaceful experience.

Check out the complete guide to S.EA Aquarium.

Time required: It takes almost 1-2 hours to explore SEA Aquarium. Refreshment (food and beverages) is available inside the Aquarium.

Timings: 10 am to 7 p.m

Tickets: Adult (Age 13 – 59) – SGD39 | Child (Age 4 – 12) – SGD29 | Senior (Age 60 and above) – SGD29

3) Enjoy a variety of Food – Sentosa has many restaurants to offer a variety of delectable cuisine. Right from fast food joints to upmarket Michelin star restaurants. Once we came out of the SEA Aquarium, it was time for lunch and we were really hungry. We stopped by an Italian restaurant and enjoyed Pizza, garlic bread, and pasta. Post lunch it was time for desserts and what better for hot & humid weather then a chilled ice cream. We visited this really nice ice-cream joint called stick house, which had a really good selection of delicious ice creams.

4) Photo opportunities – Once we loaded ourselves with calories, it was time to explore the area and click some pictures for keepsake. Sentosa has many places where you can click that perfect instagramable picture. (Read about it in my next blog) or just some cool pics with family to capture the beautiful memories. Some places where we enjoyed clicking pictures.

  • Lake of Dreams Square especially looks beautiful during the evenings. There are many other interesting set-ups in and around the square where you can capture that perfect picture.
  • Candylicious store – This was our favorite! Fairy tale-like set us including live size and colorful candies and wish tree made of candies …it was quite a tempting place. I m sure one can’t stop just outside and it’s a must to visit the store and grab some delicious candies.
  • Merlion statue and the Park – The gigantic Merlion statue and fountain at Santosa is not something you will miss! In fact, it’s visible from the cable car itself. Enjoy some cool and misty moments near the fountain. Just behind the statue is a colorful Merlion park, yet another interesting place to capture.
  • Universal Studio – If you are planning to visit Universal studio then you will surely have unlimited opportunities and backdrops to click pictures. But if you are running out of time, then at least you can click a picture of Famous Universal studio globe. Click here to get a complete guide on Universal Studio

5) Beaches – It’s not only unique attractions that make Sentosa an ultimate fun destination, the presence of vast Sandy stretches definitely adds charm to it. Sentosa has 3 artificial beaches, which are beaming with activities. Checkout more beaches in Singapore

  • Siloso beach – Being closest to the main transport, Siloso beach is one of the most popular and often visited beaches.
  • Palawan beach -If you walk west of Siloso, you will find the second Sentosa beach called Palawan. It’s a long and wide beach, best suited for families with children. It features a suspension bridge that allows visitors to cross over to a spot, claimed as the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia (the closest point to the Equator in Asia).
  • Tanjong Beach – This is the quietest beach on Sentosa probably because it’s farthest from the ‘Beach Station’. This beach is serene and has cool vibes.

Silso beach, Sentosa Island

6) Wings of Time – Your trip to Sentosa Island cannot be complete without the Wings of time show. This Multi-sensory outdoor show is the ultimate fusion of laser lights and sounds perfectly synchronized with the movement of water. Fireworks at the end of this spectacular show take the entire experience to a whole new level. This mesmerizing show takes you through the magical journey weaved in the story of friendship and courage.

Show timings: 7.40 p.m. and 8.40 p.m

Duration: Around 15 mins

Ticket cost: 23 S$/ 18 S $ (On type of seat)

Things to do in Sentosa Island

Few tips to make your trip to Sentosa a memorable one!

  • Try visiting the Island on a weekday, when it’s not very crowded.
  • Since it’s hot and humid it’s better to carry sunscreen, umbrella or cap and water bottle.
  • Carry a map with you, as they are handy and helpful.

Although it felt like we could have checked out some more attractions, which we missed. But we had a memorable time at Sentosa and a lot of memories to cherish.

Have you visited Sentosa before? Do you have any suggestions?

Sentosa Island in Singapore: One Perfect Day in The State of Fun

The city view from the Skywalk

Table of Contents

Aaah! Sentosa Island, The State of Fun, as they call it! A place where thrills and exciting adventures never end! A place that, frankly, I had never heard of until the moment I started planning a six-day family trip to Singapore. As I browsed through various blogs, websites, and travel forums, Sentosa Island in Singapore just kept coming up. Naturally, my curiosity got the better of me, and I started searching for more information to see what the fuss was all about.

Sentosa Island, The State of Fun

Located only about a quarter mile off the Southern Coast of Singapore, Sentosa Island is basically one giant amusement park. It’s where you find Universal Studios Singapore, Adventure Cove Waterpark, S.E.A. Aquarium, Madame Tussaud’s Singapore, zip lining, bungee jumping, golf, and much…much more. Considering that all this happens only within 1.9 square miles, Sentosa is literally jam-packed with fun and games. As a family traveling with kids, we felt a visit there was in order, and so we planned to spend a day discovering the State of Fun.

Where to Stay: You can choose to stay on Sentosa Island in Singapore, which is convenient if you would like to spend more than one day there. Our personal top-choice hotel on the island is Capella Singapore . A couple of other nice and less pricey options are Village Hotel Sentosa and Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa . If you would rather stay at Resorts World, near all the action, check out the Equarius Hotel or Hotel Michael . We always use Booking.com to book accommodations. It’s our favorite website for finding great places all over the world!

Getting to Sentosa Island

Getting to Sentosa Island from Singapore is not complicated. First, make your way to the HarbourFront Centre, then cross over to the island…It’s as simple as that!

Arrive at the HarbourFront Centre in Singapore

The HarbourFront Centre is basically a shopping mall, but also a ferry terminal. This is the point from which you can go across to Sentosa Island. So, arriving here should be your first goal.

View of HarbourFront Centre and VivoCity Mall in Singapore

Take a Grab Car There

Perhaps the simplest and most convenient way to get to the HarbourFront Centre is by taking a Grab car , which is the Asian version of Uber. If you happen to have an unlocked mobile phone equipped with a local SIM card, just download the Grab app and find your ride. Then select HarbourFront Centre or Singapore Cable Car if you are planning on taking the cable car (gondola) across to the island. This is exactly what we did, and it worked out perfectly! Our Grab driver picked us up at our hotel and drove us straight to the cable car entrance. You can actually get a ride all the way to the island itself, but it will cost you more, and you will miss out on some of the fun getting there.

Use the MRT

Taking the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), which is the Singapore subway, is another way to get to the HarbourFront Centre. Depending on where you’re staying in the city, you may need to transfer and ride a couple different trains. Remember that your goal is to get off at the HarbourFront Station, and both the North East Line and the Circle Line of the MRT stop there.

TIP: Click HERE to download the map of Singapore’s MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) system

Cross Over to Sentosa Island

Once at HarbourFront Centre , you will have to decide how to get over to Sentosa Island. There are basically three different options: You can walk across on the Sentosa Boardwalk, take the Sentosa Express Monorail, or arrive on the Singapore Cable Car.

Sentosa Boardwalk

If you want to get to the island for free, by engaging your leg muscles, your best bet is the Sentosa Boardwalk. From the HarbourFront Centre, head towards the waterfront promenade at VivoCity Shopping Mall , which is connected to the Centre. At the promenade, you will find the start of the boardwalk; then all you have to do is follow it to the island.

Sentosa Express Monorail

Another way to get to the island is by taking the Sentosa Express Monorail . This option will cost you only a few extra dollars. You can use the monorail to move around the island and return back, all for one low price of S$4 per person (as of July 2019). To get to the Sentosa Express Monorail, enter the VivoCity Shopping Mall from HarbourFront Centre, and follow the signs up to the 3rd Level. Once there, go to Lobby L, then purchase your Sentosa Pass from the ticketing booths. At this point, you are all set and ready to ride the monorail across.

Singapore Cable Car

Without question, the most scenic way to reach the island is by taking the Singapore Cable Car . This is a modern, eight-person gondola that offers sweeping views of Sentosa and Singapore’s skyline.

To get to the Singapore Cable Car, either take a Grab car there, or follow the signs to HarbourFront Tower II from the HarbourFront Center. Purchase your tickets, then take the elevator to the top of the tower, and enjoy your ride. I should mention that the Singapore Cable Car consists of two separate lines. One is the Mount Faber Line, which takes you across to Sentosa; the other one is the Sentosa Line, which only operates on the island. There are various packages you can purchase depending on whether you want to ride only one or both lines.

Our Day on Sentosa Island

Our one-day adventure to Sentosa Island began later than planned due to a heavy downpour. It was the end of July, when rainy days are not uncommon in Singapore. Despite this mild setback, we got a Grab Car and headed towards the Singapore Cable Car as soon as the rain eased off a little. Our Grab driver arrived quickly, and before long we were standing in line at the Cable Car entrance waiting to get our tickets.

As a side note here, I have to say that planning what to do while on Sentosa Island was probably the most challenging task of all. With so many rides and attractions and only one day to spare, it can be quite overwhelming trying to decide which ones to choose. After looking at all the options, I selected some activities that to me sounded a bit more unique. Yeah, sure – Universal Studios is an amusement park staple, but it’s also a place we can visit back home in the US. Massive waterparks are not hard to come by where we live either. Following that brilliant train of thought, I put together the itinerary for the day, and it all worked out great in the end.

Singapore Cable Car, Mount Faber Line

Once we had our tickets in hand, the fun began with an amazing ride on the Mount Faber Line of the Singapore Cable Car, which gave us a bird’s eye view of the whole area . Behind us, we could see the impressive Singapore skyline, and in front of us was lush green Sentosa with its myriad of attractions and castle-like resorts. It was a fantastic experience that we recommend very highly if you are planning a day to the island.

Skyline Luge Sentosa

Conveniently, the Cable Car took us right near our first planned activity for the day, a ride on Skyline Luge Sentosa . This is a fun attraction where visitors get to drive small Luge carts along four different tracks. Then they can take one of the two scenic chairlifts back up and do it all over again.

When we got off the Cable Car, the rain stopped, and we were excited to experience some thrills without getting soaked. We walked over to the entrance and got the family package. It included four Luge rides and four Skyline rides each. After we got our tickets, all of us selected helmets from a large bin, then went to the starting point. There, the staff gave us quick instructions on how to navigate the Luge carts, and before we knew it, we were flying down one of the tracks.

From a Student Driver to a Pro

We didn’t start out as the most skilled Luge Cart drivers, but everyone in the family looked like a pro by the final run. After each Luge ride, we took the Skyline chairlift back up, which gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful views of Sentosa and refocus for another round of wild driving.

Mega Adventure Park

After we completed successfully our four rounds of Luge and Skyline fun, we headed over to the next attraction on our itinerary, Mega Adventure Park . This is an attraction that offers four different activities: a high ropes course (MegaClimb), a high jump (MegaJump), zip lining (MegaZip), and bungee-assisted trampoline jumping (MegaBounce).

It didn’t take us long to get to Mega Adventure Park since it’s located only a short walk away from the Skyline Luge. Nevertheless, we had worked up a bit of a sweat by the time we made our way there since the sun had come out and the temperatures were soaring.

As soon as we arrived and got our tickets, the staff hooked us up with harnesses, then took us to the first activity, the MegaClimb . This was a three-level high ropes course that looked like a super fun challenge. As the staff explained it, the easiest level was the lowest, the second level was the hardest, the third level was the highest. Without wasting any time, our younger daughter, Dani, started making her way through Level 1, the easiest (…not easy at all by the way), and hubby with our first-born, Angie, tackled Level 2, the hardest. I stayed behind because, you know, someone has to be responsible and take a thousand photos!

Slowly but surely, everyone completed their respective course successfully. They were all very proud and fully drenched in sweat from the heat and all the hard work. The kids were ready to go for another round immediately, but the time was ticking and we had to move onto the next thrill, zip lining.

As a side note, the next logical activity to try would have been the MegaJump , a free-fall simulated 15-meter jump. However, in the interest of time, we moved onto zip lining. Honestly, as hubby and I watched others drop and happily survive, we were very much considering giving it a try. It did seem like a lot of fun!

All of us got up to the MegaZip platform, and were immediately astounded by the view that emerged before our eyes. We were about to zip line over treetops, Siloso Beach, and then arrive at the opposite station on a teeny island.

Everyone was excited to start zipping, but first, Dani had to be hooked up to hubby since she is light as a feather. Once she was secured, all of us lined up and off we went. It was a short but super fun flight, over the trees, over the beach, then onto the little island. Without question, this was one experience we would gladly repeat over and over again next time we are on Sentosa!

When we arrived at the opposite platform, we stopped to look at the ocean views for a few minutes. Then all of us walked across a narrow bridge from the tiny island to Siloso Beach. There, we found the trampolines and bungee cords for the MegaBounce, and just like that, the kids forgot they were getting hungry, thirsty, itchy, and tired!

Bouncing on trampolines while attached to bungee cords is one of our daughters’ favorite activities, so they couldn’t wait to get on the MegaBounce . The staff removed their harnesses only to replace them with new ones, better suited for this particular activity. Once everything was tightened in place, the fun began. Meanwhile, hubby and I stood on the side and watched…And one of us took a gazillion pictures. (Ahem!) I don’t know where Angie and Dani found the energy, but they sure bounced like merry kangaroos until the last minute.

When it was all over, we thanked the friendly staff at Mega Adventure Park for this outstanding adrenaline-packed adventure. Then we walked over to get some lunch at the nearby restaurant, Trapizza. We definitely needed to replenish some of our sugar and energy after living life to the fullest.

Lunch on the Beach at Trapizza

Trapizza was the closest restaurant near Mega Adventure Park on Siloso Beach, and it turned out to be a lovely place. Not only was it right on the beach, but also offered the kids’ favorites, pasta and pizza. We ordered just that and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch under a large shady canopy.

Fort Siloso Skywalk

When we were all refreshed and refueled, it was time to proceed according to plan. So, we walked over to the next point of interest, Fort Siloso Skywalk , which was nearby. This is an elevated trail, approximately 11-story high, that takes visitors above the treetops. At the top, there are incredible views of the surrounding area. The trail leads to the historic Fort Siloso , which is currently a military museum, completely free of charge.

To get to the Skywalk, we made our way to the entrance tower and took the elevator to the top. Of course, there is also an option to take the stairs, but we were still full from lunch and not quite up to this kind of heroic act. Once up there, we discovered incredible panoramas of Sentosa and Singapore’s modern skyline. The pleasant breeze coming from the ocean revived our senses, which resulted in our kids running up and down the Skywalk, making a good amount of jolly clatter.

After we spent some time admiring the views from Fort Siloso Skywalk, we had to keep moving. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time for us to visit the actual fort, but if you enjoy history, definitely check it out.

Singapore Cable Car, Sentosa Line

The next attraction on our itinerary for the day was the Trick Eye Museum. To get there, we took the Sentosa Line of the Singapore Cable Car from Siloso Point Station. Conveniently, this station is located right across the street from Fort Siloso Skywalk, so our kids didn’t get to complain that their feet were hurting from too much walking.

Riding the Sentosa Line of the Singapore Cable Car

Riding the Sentosa Line of the Singapore Cable Car

The ride on the Cable Car was truly awesome; the beaches, the island, the Singapore skyline, we could see it all! After some time, our cabin slowed down as it arrived to Imbiah Lookout Station, the midpoint of the Sentosa Line. Luckily, we knew exactly what we were doing, so we didn’t get off like some confused tourists would. Instead, we continued on until the Merlion Station at the end of the Sentosa Line.

Sentosa Merlion and Resorts World

We got off the Cable Car and started looking for signs to point us towards the Trick Eye Museum. It turned out that we weren’t as close to it as we imagined. In fact, we quickly learned that we would need to take the Sentosa Monorail Express to Resorts World, which was one stop away.

Sentosa Merlion

As we headed towards the monorail station, we spotted the Sentosa Merlion statue nearby. Although we hadn’t planned to go inside, we had to stop for a few minutes and check it out up close.

Sentosa Merlion Statue on Sentosa Island in Singapore

Here it is, in all its glory, the Sentosa Merlion statue

In case you are not familiar, the Merlion is the symbol of Singapore, a creature that has the head of a lion and the body of a fish (or mermaid). Therefore, it’s a mermaid-lion…a Merlion. You may have heard that Singapore is known as “The Lion City”…Well, this is the reason why!

Currently, there are a total of seven Merlion statues around Singapore. The one on Sentosa Island is the largest, rising 37 meters (about 121 feet). It’s also the only one where visitors can go inside and climb up to the top, then enjoy the views from the Merlion’s head and mouth. If you have the time, this is definitely a fun activity to do with the family. Who doesn’t want to get inside a lion’s mouth…better yet, a Merlion’s mouth!

UPDATE: Sadly, the iconic Merlion on Sentosa Island in Singapore will be demolished sometime after October 20, 2019, which is the last date of admission. At the moment, there are no specific plans as to where it will be relocated. We will definitely keep you posted.

Resorts World

After taking some photos of Singapore’s mascot, we continued on our way to Resorts World and the Trick Eye Museum. The Imbiah Station of the Sentosa Monorail Express was very close, so we hopped on a train that took us there in no time.

TIP: Once on Sentosa Island, you can ride the Sentosa Monorail Express for free.

It turned out the Trick Eye Museum was still a good walk away, but this was just as well. We got a chance to see many of the amazing sights at Resorts World, like the Universal Studios globe, the candy trees at Candylisious, and the pretty Lake of Dreams.

Eventually, we made our way to the Trick Eye Museum , which turned out to be a really delightful place to visit. It was also air conditioned, which gave us a chance to cool off after walking out in the Singapore heat!

The Trick Eye Museum offers a large collection of fun art installations that trick your eyes. They appear 3D when photographed from a certain angle. Conveniently, there are markings on the floor to point to the perfect spot to capture your Instagram masterpieces.

XR Museum App

Perhaps one of the most interesting features at the Trick Eye Museum is the App they suggest you download before starting your tour. It’s an augmented reality App that brings many of the exhibits to life. You can take photos and videos through the App and really impress your social media peeps!

TIP: To get the App in advance, search for “XR Museum” or “TrickEye Museum” in the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play Store. Once you download it, select the region of the museum you are visiting, then have fun. Click HERE for more information and instructions.

We all spent a long time playing around with the App and snapping all kinds of photos and videos. It was a ton of fun, and here are a few of the many photos to prove it. (Note: We didn’t take these pictures with the App…They are just good, old, regular photos.)

The Things We Wish We Had Seen

After we left the Trick Eye Museum, hubby and the kids began complaining loudly about being tired and hungry. So we stopped at the nearby Malaysian Food Street and filled up on tasty specialties from Singapore’s neighboring country.

By the time we finished dinner, it was getting late, and our kids became increasingly more cranky and grouchy. They were definitely starting to show classic signs of mood decline due to a long day of too much fun. There were still a couple more things on our Sentosa itinerary, but we had to let go of them. Since these are activities very much worth your time, I have to mention what they were. You can get to both of them by taking the Sentosa Monorail Express back from Resorts World Station and get off at the final Beach Station.

Palawan Island

The first attraction on my list of “things I would like to have seen” on Sentosa is Palawan Island. This is a tiny island off of Palawan Beach , which interestingly happens to represent the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia. It’s a beautiful place that you can easily visit by walking across a narrow suspension bridge from Palawan Beach. Arguably, this is one of the most picturesque spots on Sentosa Island, so definitely stop by if you can!

Wings of Time Show

The Wings of Time Show is the other planned attraction we didn’t get to experience. This is an impressive show of lights that happens every night on Siloso Beach. It combines impressive visual effects with a glorious soundtrack for the perfect end to a day on Sentosa Island.

TIP: For more details about the Wings of Time Show and to purchase tickets, click HERE .

Even though we missed this incredible spectacle, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset from the Singapore Cable Car on our way back.

Go to The State of Fun

As you can see, one day is hardly enough for Sentosa Island in Singapore. The fun attractions and activities that await there are countless, so plan as much as you can in advance. If you know what you want to do before you get there, you won’t spend your time wondering and wandering. Whatever you choose, your day on Sentosa will be an adventure, because this is The State of Fun! It’s a place where kids’ dreams turn into reality, and adults become kids once again!

IMPORTANT!!!

When traveling abroad, be sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months AFTER your planned stay. There are many countries that follow this rule very strictly. If you show up to the airport with a passport that expires in less than 6 months, you will NOT be allowed to board your plane! Click HERE to learn more and to see the list of countries that require 6 months of remaining passport validity.

Thanks for sharing. I have been wondering what Sentosa Island looked like now. When I was there twelve years ago, the island was being redeveloped..

Woow, how interesting, Jennifer! Sentosa Island is quite a buzzing place these days. We had a great time visiting for sure! 😉

' src=

That looks like so much fun! Great pictures too, and really good directions on how to get to Sentosa!

Thanks so much, Dawn! It was an awesome day for sure! Sentosa Island was one of our kids’ favorite places on our entire trip to Southeast Asia! 🙂

The views of Sentosa Island are amazing from the cable car, and zipline, and skywalk. You certainly packed a lot into your day. My family would love the Skyline Luge Sentosa and the Adventure Park. This summer we’ve really gotten into the adventure parks.

Thanks so much, Leeanne! Sentosa Island is definitely an awesome family destination. It’s one big adventure park surrounded by beaches and blue water! 😉

What a fantastic day! I spent a short 24 hours in Singapore years ago in between a trip to India and the Philippines and what I remember is how beautiful and CLEAN the city was. Plus how much there is to do! I’d love to get back.

Thanks, Pam! It really is an incredibly clean and modern place, and Sentosa Island is a lot of fun. You should see the new addition to the Changi Airport, the Jewel. It’s an incredible dome with a waterfall coming down from the ceiling and a tropical garden all around…Absolutely stunning! 😉

' src=

Sentosa Island in Singapore is the new spot added to the list! That first pic almost looks ripped out of concept art for the future. Definitely going to Mega Adventure Park. That’s right up my alley.

Thanks, Jamie! You are totally right! These modern buildings are actually luxury condos…pretty incredible. The architecture all over Singapore is awesome! We recommend visiting the country very highly, and Mega Adventure Park is definitely a MUST! 😉

' src=

The Trick Eye Museum on Sentosa Island in Singapore looks like so much fun! What an interesting concept for a museum. I think one of my girls would love to recreate the candy trees in her room! Looks like you really enjoyed your time there.

Thanks for stopping by, Susan! Yesss! The Trick Eye Museum was really cool, and we all had a great day. Sentosa Island in Singapore is a fun, FUN place! I wouldn’t mind going back there one bit! 🙂

Wow…just wow! Singapore wasn’t on my list but is now. Would love to check out that cable car and more. Great tips on how to navigate this beautiful and fun area!

Thank you so much! I am really happy to hear you found my directions helpful! 🙂 This was my goal, as the place may seem a bit overwhelming at first! I hope you visit Singapore! The entire country is lovely…so modern, safe, and clean…plenty of fun stuff to see and do…and eat! 🙂

There is so much to do on Sentosa Island! My kids would love the high ropes course, although they may not want to go all the way up. However, they would love the luge. I can see my husband racing them down the course.

Oh, you all would have a blast! We raced each other on the luge, too. The kids were not happy when it was time to leave. They definitely wanted to keep going! I hope you guys visit! It’s a great family destination! 🙂

' src=

Gorgeous images! I’m adding Singapore to my travel wishlist. Thanks!

Thank you so much, Shirley! You would enjoy it for sure! The whole country is amazing, so organized, and so clean! We had a wonderful time there! 🙂

What a great adventure! So many fun things to do on Sentosa Island in Singapore. I loved the zip lining and the cable car, but the Trick Eye Museum looks amazing!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Laura! We really had a great time…And YESSS! The Trick Eye Museum was awesome, so creative and fun! I highly recommend visiting Sentosa Island when in Singapore! One day is not enough to see everything, but it will allow you to get to know the place and enjoy plenty of good time! 😉

' src=

Sentosa Island looks fun. Not sure which month we will be heading to Singapore but most likely after January. I’ve heard that they had an island of amusement parks but didn’t know more than that. I’ve bookmarked your post. Looks like a great time!

Awww! Thanks, Wendy! Sentosa Island in Singapore is great for families! We had an amazing time and would gladly go back! Our goal was to check out as many fun attractions as possible instead of spending the entire day at Universal Studios! We are very happy with how it all turned out! You can consider spending more than a day there. I researched a bunch of hotels and added my favorites to the article. We considered staying overnight, but there is so much to see in the city, too…Whatever you decide, I am sure you will have a great time! Safe travels! 🙂

' src=

This looks like so much fun, and I had no idea Singapore had all of this. I’d particularly love to do the Zipline and the Wings of Time show. Bummer you couldn’t fit that one in, but it’s hard to always do everything planned.

Yesss, Jordan! I was totally looking forward to the Wings of Time Show. Unfortunately, the kids were too jet lagged and needed to sleep! Oh, well! We definitely have reasons to go back again! In the end, we did catch a beautiful sunset from the gondola, for which I am very grateful! 😉

' src=

I’ve never heard of Sentosa Island but looks amazing. You got incredible photos from the cable car.

Thanks, Arianny! It’s definitely a worthwhile place if you are planning a trip to Singapore! Out kids were thrilled of course! 🙂

' src=

I have heard great things about Singapore, but I had not heard of Sentosa Island. Great tips! Thanks!

Tricia, I hadn’t heard of it either until I started planning our days in Singapore! I am sure glad I learned about it! The entire country is fantastic, very safe, very clean…It’s a great place to visit for sure! 🙂

' src=

Sentosa Island in Singapore looks like so much fun! I think we could spend a week there and not get to everything it has to offer!

I think you might be right, Lori! It’s definitely packed with fun stuff to see and do! 😉

' src=

I love that you took the time to explain how to get to Sentosa Island from Singapore. I might have thought it was so remote, but you did a good job explaining.

Oh, thanks so much, Jen! I am very glad to hear you found my explanations helpful! Before we arrived there, I was wondering what would be the best way to get to Sentosa, so I figured, other people might be wondering the same! It’s really very easy. Singapore is such a well-organized and well-connected place! It’s great for tourists! I hope you visit sometime! 🙂

' src=

What a neat place! And the Trick Eye Museum is soooo great! Love the photos.

Thanks, Eva! We had so much fun and would LOVE to return! 😉

' src=

Awesome time!!! We would enjoy the ropes course, like a good challenge.

Thanks, Missy! Yesss! The ropes course was really fun…and definitely challenging from what the kids and hubby told me! They loved it! 😉

' src=

Sentosa Island in Singapore looks like such a fun family adventure destination. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed all the pictures!

Thank you so much, Cynthia! It really is a great place to visit with the family! 🙂

' src=

Whoa! An Orlando in Asia! So cool you guys got to do all of these activities. The high ropes and zip lines look exhilarating. Always wanted to see Singapore, what a great day!

Thanks, Hera! Sentosa Island in Singapore was really like an exotic version of Orlando. 🙂 It was a great day for sure…so many fun activities! Our kids still talk about it pretty much every day! 🙂

' src=

Wow had no idea there was so much to do in Singapore.

Thanks for stopping by, Keagan…And this is only Sentosa Island in Singapore! The actual city has so much more to offer! It’s an amazing place to visit! 🙂

' src=

This looks awesome! So much to do, but I have to say I think the museum would have ranked as our top favorite! We love all the activities as well, but the museum looked extra unique!

Thanks, Michele! Sentosa Island in Singapore really was GREAT…And the museum was a ton of fun for sure! Not to mention, it was air conditioned, so it gave us a nice break from the heat. I can’t really pick a favorite, though! We loved it all! 🙂

Sentosa

With its theme parks, attractions and coastal beauty, Sentosa Island in Singapore is not to be missed; if you have just one day to spend here, this is an itinerary to consider.

Morning to Noon

Stay at one of the  4-star hotels in Singapore  within easy reach of Sentosa; options include  Park Hotel Alexandra , just a 10-minute drive away. Begin your day with a visit to Madame Tussauds at 10:00am; after getting up close with the wax likeness of your favourite celebs and superheroes, head to Siloso Beach for a laidback lunch.

S.E.A. Aquarium

Spend the early afternoon at S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the biggest oceanariums on the planet! There are over 100,000 marine creatures from around the world here in diverse habitats. The huge Open Ocean habitat is a great place to observe marine life, while the Shark Seas Habitat with numerous sharks is not to be missed either.

Universal Studios

Universal Studio Singapore

Give yourself time to enjoy the many attractions of Universal Studios and plan which of the rides you want to try. Thrill-seekers will love the Battlestar Galactica-themed duelling rollercoasters, while TRANSFORMERS The Ride (in 3D), Revenge of the Mummy, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and Shrek 4-D Adventure are also popular.

Winding Down

Head to Sentosa Cove’s Quayside Isle area, home to plenty of restaurants and bars where you can have dinner near the waterfront. Depending on the pandemic restrictions when you visit, Wings of Time may also be back in operation in Sentosa; this nightly show features cutting-edge lights, 3D effects, water fountains and more.

Sentosa Itinerary

Sentosa Itinerary

Welcome to the best Sentosa Island Itinerary – how to maximize your time and visit the best attractions!

Welcome to the best Sentosa itinerary.  In this article, I will outline the best things to do on Sentosa Island to make your time here amazing. Sentosa is one of the most famous places to visit in all of Singapore, and for good reason. It has many world-famous attractions and some of the best hotels and resorts in the entire city.

By the end of this article, you should have a solid idea of where to stay, what to see and how to get to the most famous attractions on Sentosa Island.  This Sentosa itinerary that we describe can either be completed over a 24 or 48 hour time period. It really depends on how many attractions you want to see and how long you want to spend at each one. While reading this itinerary, think about what interests you the most and whether the attraction is worth visiting. Then you can filter out the best places to visit.

Getting to Sentosa Island – Transportation Options

Before you can even consider sightseeing on Sentosa Island, you have to figure out how to get there!

Fortunately, there are multiple ways to get to Sentosa Island. Taking the MRT and then the Sentosa Express is definitely one of the most popular ways to get there. You can also take the MRT directly from the airport all the way to HarbourFront Station. Once at Harbourfront, transfer to Sentosa Express through VivoCity Mall.

Read More :   How to get to Sentosa Island using MRT – fast, cheap and easy!

You can also take a taxi, private vehicle or bus to Sentosa as well (depending on where your starting point is).

If you are on a budget while you are visiting Singapore we suggest taking the MRT. It is affordable, reliable, and directly bypasses traffic getting into the city centre. Over the years, more and more people make their way to Sentosa using ‘green methods’ such as cycling, walking, jogging or running.

Selecting the Right Hotel for your Sentosa Itinerary

When you are developing your Sentosa itinerary it is essential that you stay at a convenient hotel so that you can access the attractions in this area.  The first main question that you have to ask yourself is:

Should you stay on Sentosa Island or not?

Sentosa is very popular and consequently, it does have a wide selection of hotels and resorts to choose from. Spending a few nights here definitely makes it easier to get around the island, especially if you have kids that are young. However, due to Singapore’s efficient and affordable transportation system, it’s possible to get on Sentosa early in the morning and to return when your day is done. If you do choose to book a hotel in Marina Bay or somewhere else, try to stay close to an MRT station to avoid unnecessary transportation costs.

Solid Service

Most of the hotels on Sentosa have solid service standards. They tend to be kid-friendly, and since Sentosa is relatively small, most of them are conveniently located for sightseeing. You can definitely find cheaper places to stay in areas such as Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam if saving some cash is your priority, however.

Most of the hotels around Sentosa are classified as 5-star properties.  This means that they have a wide range of amenities including gyms, pools, spas and a wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars. One of the benefits of staying on Sentosa is that you can eat breakfast and immediately head out for sightseeing before it gets too hot outside.  Some of the resorts along the southern beaches offer oceanview rooms which is something to consider.

Here are a few of the most positively reviewed properties on Sentosa at the time of writing:

Capella Singapore : 5-star, one of the best luxury choices in all of Singapore.

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa : 5-star, minutes from Tanjong Beach

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa : 5-star, ideally located looking over Siloso Beach

Singapore, in general, has very high standards for accommodation and Sentosa is no exception. Regardless, always do your research to find the right location and price range for your stay.

Read More : Finding the best area in Singapore to stay – the complete guide .

Starting your Itinerary: Sentosa Breakfast

When you are making your hotel booking on Sentosa Island you should consider whether or not you want breakfast included. You can expect superb buffet breakfasts or delicious a la carte menus at these hotels. Eating out at restaurants in Singapore can get pricey, so if you can find a good deal at a resort with breakfast included, go for it! If you are travelling with children, make sure that they are well fed because Sentosa has a lot of things to do!

Typically, online websites will give you the choice of whether or not you want breakfast included in the booking price. Regardless, start the first day of your Sentosa itinerary by having a delicious breakfast with your favourite fresh juice or coffee.

To build up your breakfast appetite, consider going for a morning jog around the island to get things started!

Start Sightseeing around Sentosa

To make your sightseeing itinerary around Sentosa Island the most efficient, you should try working your way in a north-to-south or south-to-north direction. By doing so, you will not waste time going in circles from one attraction to another.

To simplify the experience we are going to assume that you take the MRT to HarbourFront Station. Then, you take the Sentosa Express train to Beach Station. Therefore, this itinerary will begin along the southern shoreline of Sentosa Island and work in the northern direction as the day progresses.

Explore the Southern Beaches

After your breakfast is finished, get ready for some fun in the sun!

Sentosa Island has three beautiful beaches along its southern shoreline that are ideal for visiting before it gets too hot outside:

Siloso Beach (west)

Palawan Beach (middle)

Tanjong Beach (east)

A lot of people get surprised when they arrive at Sentosa and see how accessible and beautiful these three beaches are. If you take the Sentosa Express to Beach Station, then all you have to do is take the Sentosa Beach shuttle to any one of these. But of course, the healthiest option is walking to them!

Each one of these beaches takes on a different personality. For example, Palawan Beach is popular with families with young children, whereas Tanjong is more remote with a romantic, quieter vibe. Siloso tends to be busier with beach sports and a mix of activities directly behind the beach. It is possible to walk between all three of them, but sometimes visitors just prefer to take the beach shuttle to speed up their Sentosa sightseeing experience.

Get your Heart Pumping

Sentosa has such a wide variety of attractions that there is literally something for everyone. If you are a thrill seeker (or have active children), then your Sentosa itinerary would not be complete without getting your heart pumping.

Conveniently, minutes from the southern Sentosa beaches are some of Singapore’s best ‘action’ attractions. As you head west of Beach Station you will come across four excellent adrenaline-pumping attractions:

iFLY Singapore

Skyline Luge

Gogreen Segway Eco Adventure

Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett

We suggest that you try out at least one (if not more of these) before moving on to your next point of interest. iFLY Singapore is one of the best indoor skydiving facilities in the world. Skyline Luge is awesome for the whole family and snakes down towards the beaches. Gogreen Segway Eco Adventure is a popular way to see some of Sentosa and AJ Hackett’s Skypark is famous for skydiving and other exhilarating experiences.

Since all of these attractions are along the same road, you can pick and choose which activities you want to do. iFLY Singapore is the closest to Beach Station and makes for a convenient stop before heading further north on the Sentosa Express.

Visit Sentosa’s Interior Attractions

Once you have visited the southern beaches and the adrenaline-pumping attractions there are a few ‘interior’ attractions to check out.

Take the Sentosa Express train from Beach Station to Imbiah Station (or walk). Then, consider checking out a few of the attractions west of the station:

Madame Tussauds Singapore

Imbiah Lookout

4D Magix: Journey

Sentosa Nature Discovery

Technically, it is possible to visit any of these from Imbiah Station. But, if you are only on Sentosa for a day, you may not have time to see all of them. If you have a two-day Sentosa Itinerary, then select one of these on day 1, and another on day 2.

If you are looking for some exercise, it is also possible to walk from Imbiah Station westward to Fort Imbiah and Fort Siloso SkyWalk. History lovers consider these to be ‘must-sees’ on Sentosa and they do offer excellent views along the way.

Reserve the Afternoon for one of Sentosa’s Big-Time Attractions

It is important that you reserve at least 3 or 4 hours for one of Sentosa’s most famous attractions. And by famous attractions, I am talking about ones that attract thousands of people on a daily basis.

Right at the top of Sentosa’s major attractions is Resorts World Sentosa which consists of numerous world-class attractions, surrounded by hotels and restaurants.

Within Resorts World Sentosa is the ever famous Universal Studios Singapore . This is arguably one of the biggest attractions in all of Singapore. But the thing is, you need to spend a considerable amount of time here to really get your money’s worth! Therefore, plan for either a half-day or full-day at Universal Studios while you are on Sentosa Island.

You also should know that Universal Studios is just one of many attractions making up Resorts World. Consequently, your Sentosa Itinerary can include any of the following attractions:

  • S.E.A. Aquarium™
  • Adventure Cove Waterpark™
  • Dolphin Island™
  • HeadRock VR
  • Sunset Sail – Royal Albatross
  • Trick Eye Museum

Each of these attractions is definitely worth a visit, but you always have to consider your priorities to fit them into a single day on Sentosa Island. If more than one of these attractions really interests you or your children, then we suggest staying on the island for two or three nights and spreading your itinerary over 48 hours or more.

Return to your Room on Sentosa for Dinner before More Action

After visiting all of these world-class attractions, you will be ready for a well-deserved dinner. If you were staying in Sentosa then you might want to shower up and then simply try out a restaurant within your hotel or resort.

There is no denying the fact that staying on the island makes it a lot easier to maximize your time over the course of a day or two.

Once you are well-rested, get prepared for an exciting evening on Sentosa.

Enjoy the Evening on Sentosa

After a day of sightseeing and activities around Sentosa, you will still be rewarded with superb entertainment options at night.

One of the most obvious things to do is visit the Resorts World Casino Sentosa . If you are staying within the resort, then you can conveniently walk directly here with no need to arrange additional transportation.

Another option is taking the Sunset Sail & Dinner Cruise on the Royal Albatross. The Royal Albatross is a beautiful luxury tall ship that offers superb views and a memorable experience.

If you want to stay on land, then head to Wings of Time . This is best described as a ‘ modern venue featuring a nightly show with colourful lights, lasers, water fountains & 3D effects’. Bring along an umbrella just in case you get an unexpected rain shower. It is located along the southern shoreline and can be accessed from Beach Station at the end of the Sentosa Express train line.

Sentosa: More Ideas to Consider

We truly hope that this Sentosa itinerary will help you plan an amazing trip to this beautiful island in Singapore!  However, keep in mind that this article is only a guide and feel free to deviate from this plan.

For example, you might want to spread this itinerary of Sentosa over a two or three-day period. Some people like to visit Sentosa for a day, and then return 3-4 days later for more fun.

If you are staying at a hotel on Sentosa you can easily access the MRT to visit areas such as Marina Bay, Chinatown or Little India without much trouble. Simply take the Sentosa Express to VivoCity Mall and transfer to HarbourFront Station. From there, it’s super easy to visit other areas.

Consider   getting a Singapore Tourist Pass if you plan on staying on Sentosa to access a lot of other attractions throughout the city. Once you buy a pass you can use the bus and MRT networks an unlimited number of times for a set number of days.  These are ideal for trips lasting 1-3 days in the city.

As you complete this Sentosa itinerary you may discover a lot of other things that we have not mentioned. It is really amazing how many cool things are on Sentosa. For example, it even has world-class golf courses that weren’t even mentioned in this itinerary!

Be sure to share your experiences in the comments section below so that our readers get the best itinerary possible.  Enjoy your time in Singapore and make the most of your trip!

What’s there to do in Sentosa? Isn’t it just a small island?

Yes, it is. In fact, the island is just slightly under 5 square kilometers. However, if you’re a first-time visitor to Singapore, I couldn’t recommend visiting Sentosa highly enough.

If you have visited Sentosa before, well, it’s so hard to tell your friends you’ve seen it all because the island keeps adding new things all the time!

No time to read? Here’s my best picks: 🚄 Fastest way to get to Sentosa : Sentosa Express 🚡 Most scenic way to see Sentosa : Cable Car 🏎️ Most-raved attraction : Skyline Luge 😱 Scariest activity : Bungy Jumping ⛵ Most romantic activity : Royal Albatross

Is Sentosa worth visiting? Yes. Well, I’m obviously biased. I visited Sentosa the first time about 17 years ago and fell in love with it. To this day, I’m still loving it. They say love is blind and biased.

How many days do you need to explore Sentosa? It depends on how many days you’re in Singapore, how much you love island activities and world-class attractions, your budget, your bucket list, etc.

Resort World Sentosa

Let’s start with Resort World Sentosa (RWS). RWS is an integrated resort located at the northern part of Sentosa. It’s developed by Genting, the same group that develops Genting Highland in Malaysia.

If you’re taking Sentosa Express monorail from VivoCity in Harbourfront, RWS is located right at the first station called Waterfront Station.

Resort World Sentosa where you’ll find a casino (there are only 2 casinos in Singapore: one at RWS, another at MBS) and big-scale attractions.

1. Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is hands down one of my favorite places in Singapore. Hubby and I love it so much that we got ourselves a Season Pass a few years ago.

If you love theme parks, this should be on your itinerary. For more information, you can read my guide and tips to maximize your visit to USS and my recommendation for rides in USS .

Looking for ideas on what to do in Singapore? Here’s my guide on the best things to do in Singapore .

The casino is located at the Basement of Resort World Sentosa. Visitors and foreigners can enter for free, but remember to bring your passport or Singapore’s employment pass. It’s open 24/7.

Local residents and permanent residents of Singapore, however, need to pay $150 admission fee to enter; this explains why I’ve never entered casinos in Singapore!

If you had visited this casino and Malaysia’s Genting casino, please let me know which one is better, I’m curious.

3. Adventure Cove Waterpark

Adventure Cove Waterpark is a really cool water theme park that has all of the conventional fixtures, such as Lazy River, Wave Pool, water slides PLUS snorkeling.

Yes, you read that right, you can enjoy unlimited snorkel in a giant pool full of colorful fishes. If you love water, I highly recommend spending a day at Adventure Cove. Here are my tips on visiting Adventure Cove Waterpark .

4. S.E.A. Aquarium

At S.E.A. Aquarium , you can expect to meet about 100,000 marine animals of over 800 species. How cool is that! Some marine animals you will encounter include hammerhead shark, manta ray, giant Pacific octopus and dolphin!

If you fancy walking inside the aquarium but you don’t have a diving certificate, try Sea Trek Adventure .

S.E.A. Aquarium Singapore

5. Dolphin Island

Despite the name, Dolphin Island is not exactly an island . It is located at the northwest coast of Sentosa Island, near Adventure Cove Waterpark.

At Dolphin Island , you’ll have a chance to interact with dolphins with or without getting into the water, through Dolphin Discovery and Dolphin Encounter programs.

For more intimate interaction, you can opt for Dolphin Adventure (where you’ll be swimming and being propelled by dolphins) or Dolphin Trek (where you’ll go underwater with waterproof helmet and you’ll get to see the beautiful dolphins in their environment).

Sentosa Beach

An island gotta have its own beaches, amirite?! And Sentosa has not one, not two, but THREE beaches. All of them are located at the south of Sentosa. So, if you’re taking Sentosa Express monorail from VivoCity, you can drop at Beach Station to visit these beaches .

7. Palawan Beach -> FREE admission

If you only have time to visit 1 beach, then you must visit Palawan Beach. I love this beach because it has an iconic suspension bridge that connects the beach and a small islet. This islet is dubbed the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia .

Siloso is the beach for the adventurous. There are plenty of thrill activities here, such as Bungee Jumping (see #12) and Megazip (see #13).

9. Tanjong Beach -> FREE admission

Tanjong Beach is the quietest beach among all. It’s the favorite beach of people who are looking for tranquility.

You do, however, need to make reservation for dining and daybed. The minimum spend starts from $100 per day bed per session on weekdays, and $200 per day bed per session on weekends.

You can start your trek at Sentosa Nature Discovery where you can learn about Sentosa’s heritage trees, 8 different types of habitat in Sentosa, and the geology formation of Sentosa.

After exiting Sentosa Nature Discovery, you’ll meet Imbiah Bridge, a 200m Canopy walk. Halfway into the trail, there’s intersection where you can switch to Mount Imbiah Nature Trail (1.1km), and then Coastal Trail (1km).

There are plenty of signage along the way, but do bring enough water because tackling the trails can be quite taxing.

If you don’t know yet, Sentosa Cove is where the rich people build their dream houses. There are also luxurious apartments for those who can’t afford a house, and hotels for luxurious tourists. So, don’t be surprised if you see hundreds of yachts parking at the dock here.

Since most areas of Sentosa Cove are private houses or private clubs, the only place we, the muggles, can hang out is Quayside Isle . Get ready to splurge if you plan to dine at Quayside Isle, because food is not cheap but the location and view are absolutely worth the price.

To get to Quayside Isle, you can take either one of the 2 shuttle buses : Sentosa Cove shuttle bus ($2 per ride) from VivoCity, or Sentosa Bus B (free) from Sentosa’s Beach Station. Alternatively, you can also follow the jogging trail from Palawan Beach (just follow the sign).

There are signboards for these route all around Sentosa so it’s okay if you don’t have the map. For your route planning, here’s the cycling and jogging map .

How to go to Sentosa from Harbourfront Station

There are many ways to go to Sentosa from anywhere in Singapore. You can take taxi, public transport or private hire. Most people who visit Sentosa usually take MRT to Harbourfront first, then they will choose either of the following options.

This is my favorite way to go to Sentosa because it’s the cheapest way! From Harbourfront Station, take Exit E to VivoCity shopping mall Basement 2, take escalator up to the 1st level of VivoCity, follow the direction to “Sentosa Boardwalk,” walk across the scenic boardwalk. Ta-dah, you’ve arrived!

Cost: free, until further notice

Sentosa BoardWalk

2. Sentosa Express Monorail

This is the fastest way to go to Sentosa! From Harbourfront Station, take Exit E to VivoCity shopping mall Basement 2, take escalator up to the 3rd level of VivoCity, buy ticket ( pre-book Sentosa Express ticket and just redeem at the counter to avoid the long queue at the ticketing machine), and enjoy your short and sweet ride on the Sentosa Express.

Cost: SGD 4 Sentosa Express ticket

Going to Sentosa by Sentosa Express monorail

This method is suitable for budget travelers who hates walking. Taking the bus is cheaper than Sentosa Express, but not faster. From Harbourfront Station, walk to VivoCity bus stop and take bus RSW8.

Cost: SGD 1

If this is your first visit to Singapore, I have a guide about how to get around Singapore and which travel card you should get .

Going to Sentosa by bus - RWS8 Bus

4. Cable Car

This is the most exciting way to get to Sentosa. The Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass gives you two-way cable car ride on both the Mount Faber Line and the Sentosa Line .

My suggestion is that you take Mount Faber Line from Harbourfront to Mount Faber, explore Mount Faber and enjoy the fabulous view. Then, take Mount Faber Line again to Sentosa.

When you’re inside Sentosa, you can take Sentosa Line to get around Sentosa island. At the end of the day when you are going home, just take the Mount Faber Line back to Harbourfront.

Read my guide on riding Singapore cable car and what to do at Mount Faber .

How to go to Cable Car station? From Harbourfront Station, take Exit B towards HarbourFront Centre. Walk out of Harbourfront Centre and head to HarbourFront Tower Two.

Cost: SGD 35 (but you can get cheaper price if you book online )

Singapore Mount Faber Line Cable Car

How to Get Around Sentosa

I have a detailed guide about getting around Sentosa . But, below here is my brief guide.

It is possible to explore Sentosa by walking, especially if you’re fit enough to walk for hours. To guide your way, simply take Sentosa Island Map at the Information counter.

You can also use Google Maps; however, do note that Google Maps is not that clever yet to know about all of the shortcuts. There are maps and signboards all over Sentosa island so it’s easy to navigate around.

Sentosa Express Monorail is free for travel within Sentosa. There are 4 stations: VivoCity, Waterfront (where Resort World Sentosa is located at), Imbiah Station and Beach Station (where all the beaches are located at).

Do remember that if you take the monorail to exit Sentosa, you can’t come back to Sentosa for free, instead, you need to purchase a new ticket. So, if you’re not done with Sentosa yet, DON’T take the monorail out of Sentosa towards VivoCity.

Sentosa Beach Station

3. Sentosa Line Cable Car

Sentosa Line cable car has 3 stations: Merlion Station, Siloso Point Station and Imbiah Lookout Station. Sentosa Line cable car only operates within Sentosa , don’t confuse this with Mount Faber Line which operates within AND outside Sentosa. If you get the Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass , you can travel on both Mount Faber Line and Sentosa Line cable car.

  • Nice view: Arbora (Mount Faber, can be reached with cable car), Tanjong Beach Club (Tanjong Beach), Cable Car Sky Dining

Where to Stay in Sentosa

Most luxurious experience: equarius beach villas.

The Ocean Suite at Equarius Beach Villa is on my bucket list! I mean, how could you not drop your jaw at this photo? A ray swimming in front of your bed? I think it’s an experience you won’t ever forget for a long time. It is also the best place to celebrate special occasions. A proposal perhaps? Check Beach Villas price on Agoda and Booking .

You can save a lot of traveling time as the attractions are only 5 mins walk from the hotel. Once you’re exhausted from playing all day, you can go back to your room immediately. How convenient! And, oh, Hard Rock Hotel has a swimming pool that looks more like a lake than a pool, don’t you think? Check Hard Rock Hotel price on Agoda and Booking .

Most Raved: Capella Singapore Hotel

Capella Singapore is made up of both modern and colonial buildings, so you might feel like staying at a historical site. The Palawan beach is at Capella’s doorstep, well, 200m away. Cheapest: Costa Sands Resort Sentosa (Siloso)

Island living is not cheap in Singapore. You want to maximize enjoying the fun on this island, you’ll be outside having fun instead of hiding in the room anyway, so you don’t want to stay in 4 or 5-star hotels. Here’s an idea: book a room at Costa Sands Resort at Siloso Beach. Honestly, reviews have not been stellar, but if you only want a place to sleep, you can read reviews and consider before making the decision. Check Costa Sands Resort price on Agoda and Booking .

Where to Stay Near Sentosa

Bay hotel singapore (opposite vivocity).

If you feel the hotels on Sentosa island are either too expensive, but you don’t want to stay at the cheap Costa Sands because you want comfort, well the only way out is to find hotels outside Sentosa. The nearest hotel to Sentosa, which is not too expensive and yet still provides great comfort would be Bay Hotel Singapore. From the hotel, you can literally walk to Sentosa via the Boardwalk (no need to waste time & money taking public transportation or taxi to Sentosa). Sentosa Island

  • Top Attractions

Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island is the place locals choose to get away from it all. Here you'll find beaches, cultural activities, and various attractions .

At the end of the 19th century, the British turned Sentosa into a defensive fortress. And it was in 1967 that the island was given back to the government, and turned into a vacation spot.

Sentosa is the most southerly point of the Asian continent , and although it might sound touristy, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to take the obligatory photo  at the corresponding point.

Things to do on the island

Sentosa island beaches, attractions on sentosa island, resorts world.

Resorts World opened in 2012 on Sentosa : a major complex comprised of various theme parks. Universal Studios Singapore led the project, and it became the first south-east Asian park from the company.

Getting There

To get to the island you must pay a small toll . This comes included in the following modes of transport:

  • Sentosa Express : a train  that connects the VIVO City shopping center to the island. The ticket costs 4 SGD ( US$ 2.90) per journey.
  • Sentosa Bus : connects the island with the HarbourFront terminal. The price of a ticket is 3 SGD ( US$ 2.20).
  • Teleférico (C able Car) : the option with the best views, but also the most expensive. You can take the cable car from tower 2 of the HarbourFront and it makes a stop at Mount Faber (you can get on and off again).
  • Taxi or rental car . You should pay 2 SGD ( US$ 1.50) per person to access the island.

If you want to take the cable car, train, or bus, then you should take the brown  MRT  line to  HarbourFront  where you can get on board.

Recommended

Even if you're not much of a beach bum Sentosa Island will give you another image of Singapore - families couples and groups of friends all head to the island on the weekend.

Sentosa Travel Guide – 2 Days Itinerary + Expense

sentosa-island

On the southern coast of Singapore resides a hub of entertainment. The island is a perfect blend of joy and adventure, making it the ideal weekend destination. Sentosa is a complete package for all types of audiences, from kids to elderly folks. A day trip won’t do justice. Therefore, I highly recommend spending a night at one of the resorts.

I was in Sentosa for two days with my mom, doing all the touristy stuff this island offers. Staying at Sentosa can be an expensive affair. Lookout for deals on Kayak before booking your hotel. I managed to grab a steal deal at one of the resorts in Siloso beach. The resort was getting shut down. Therefore, they were running an offer that gave us a nice beach view room at just  50 SGD .

How to reach Sentosa?

Reaching Sentosa is a peace of cake thanks to its connectivity with the mainland. You can take a bus or rapid transit. You can ride a gondola or even walk. Yep! a fascinating walking route as well. Traveling within the island is also simple, thanks to the free shuttle service and the monorail.

  • Bus: route 123 – 1 SGD to 3 SGD
  • MRT: Sentosa Vivo City –> Monotrail – 4 SGD to 5 SGD
  • Taxi: 7 SGD to 9 SGD
  • Walk: Sentosa island Boardwalk from   Vivo City Mall to Sentosa Island waterfront – Free

Reaching Sentosa

Mom and I took an early morning bus (route 123) from the Orchard Road bus stop, the closest stop to our hotel. It was a 50-minute ride from Orchard Road to Resort World Sentosa transit center. On arriving, we boarded the Free Sentosa Shuttle to reach our resort at Siloso beach.

Checkin at Costa Sands Resort (Sentosa)

The  resort  was on a hill opposite Siloso beach, hidden amidst the wild forest. We struggled a bit while locating the resort. After 20 minutes of randomly walking here and there, we finally spotted the stairway. Post the check-in formality, we headed to our room and rested for a while because rest is essential when traveling with parents.

Madame Tussauds

My mom loves Madame Tussauds so much that she never misses a chance to praise the craft. Therefore, we decided to make this our first destination of the day. The lifesize wax statues of various celebrated people around the globe never fail to charm us. The museum is gigantic, with over 50 wax statues, from Audrey Hepburn to our desi girl Priyanka Chopra, from the kung fu master Jackie Chan to football heartthrob Ronaldo. It was fun getting photographed with the people we admire the most, posing with them, and reading about their journey. However, my favorite section was Behind-the-scenes, where I learned about the creative process and the hard work behind making these statues.

But in October 2019, the city bid goodbye to merlion to build a themed linkway that allows you to walk along the shoreline from the north and south of Sentosa. This 37m-tall statue was right next to the Merlion monorail station and had an observation deck in its mouth. I’ll definitely miss this picturesque statue on my next visit. However, I’m also excited to walk the linkway. Let’s talk about our time at the Merlion Statue. It was a stop-and-go destination for us. We decided to skip the observatory part as the view was similar to that of Fort Siloso. But we sure got some amazing photos with the merlion in the backdrop.

Lunch at Good Old Days

By now, we were hungry af! So we decided to have lunch at a food court named Good Old Days. It was beautiful and affordable. Good Old Days has two separate food courts, one serving Asian delicacies and the other serving Western grilled delights. I wanted to try Laksa, so we headed to the Asian Food court. I ordered Nonya Laksa, a Malay delicacy made of spicy coconut gravy and loaded with seafood. Mom went with Gong Bao Chicken and rice. The dish was spicy, nutty, and delicious. Overall we loved our food and left the place with a happy heart and a satisfied belly.

Food for two: 16 SGD

Palawan Beach to the southernmost point of Asia

We took a shuttle to Palawan Beach, the southernmost point of Asia. We reached the beach during sunset. The view was more scenic than ever, with the sky painted in hues of pink and purple. We walked through the rope bridge to reach the southernmost point of Asia, and the view turned even better. We had some time to kill before our next activity. Therefore, we decided to stay back on the beach. We rested on a hammock chair, gazing at the clear sky and gossiping about anything under the stars.

Timing: The bridge closes post 6 pm Ticket: Free

Wings of Time Show

Wings of Time is a breathtaking show and a must-watch in Sentosa. It was just the perfect way to end our day. Wings of Time is a show about friendship and courage depicted through water, laser, and fire to create amazing visuals. It’s nothing but a brilliant display of art and technology. Plus, the captivating narration leaves the audience in awe. It was a thrilling 1-hour long show that ended with fireworks. After the show, we went to McDonald’s (the only running outlet because it was almost midnight) to grab a quick bite before heading back to the resort.

Timing: Shows at 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm Ticket: $11.94 (Adult)

Siloso Beach

Mom and I are morning persons, so we woke up early and headed straight to the beach. Siloso beach is a tranquil place with an excellent view. This place is also home to the award-winning Eco-resort, the Siloso Beach Resort. It is one of the best beaches in Sentosa that offer plenty of activities, from bungee jumping to surfing. We strolled around the beach for a while, dipped our feet in the water, and spotted many beautiful birds. There isn’t any restaurant near Siloso beach. Therefore, we decided to do a brunch instead at the Resort World Sentosa.

Timing: Open 24×7 Ticket: Free

Fort Siloso

After completing our checkout formalities, we headed to Fort Siloso. It was just a stone’s throw away from our resort. Fort Siloso is the only well-preserved coastal fort in Singapore that served as part of the defense. We walked the skyway trail that led to a military museum with exhibits from WWII, including coastal guns, tunnels, etc. We saw a few bunkers created by the Japanese army during their invasion in 1942.

Timing: Open daily, 10 am to 6 pm Ticket: Free

Brunch at Streats, Resort World Sentosa

Resort World Sentosa is the prime entertainment hub of Sentosa, with world-class attractions like Universal Studios, Dolphin Island, Adventure Cove Water park, and S.E.A Aquarium. We took a shuttle from Siloso to Resort World Sentosa. On reaching the Resort World, we headed straight to Streats, an Asian street food restaurant. We had Salted Egg Yolk Pumpkin Fritters, Beijing Dumplings, and a delicious sandwich. We loved the taste of everything, especially the Egg Yolk Pumpkin Fritters. Therefore, we highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Food for two: 25 SGD

Universal Studios

And finally, we entered the most awaited attraction, the Universal Studios. It is Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park that features many blockbuster movies and tv series. It was raining cats and dogs that day, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. We bought a raincoat from the main gate and headed straight to our adventure.

universal-studios-singapore

Universal Studios has six theme-based zones. We began our journey in Hollywood. We met the minions and watched a delightful performance at Mel’s. Next, we headed to New York. We explored Sesame Streets and watched a mind blowing show by the famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg at Lights, Camera, Action! Next, we headed to the Sci-Fi City to experience the thrilling TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle. Battlestar Galactica wasn’t running due to the rain, but I’ll surely come back for this. From here, we headed to Ancient Egypt to ride the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster. It was my favorite of all rides. Trust me when I say this ride will surprise you with every twist and turn. Next, we explored the Lost World, a Jurassic Park-themed area. We watched a spectacular show called the Water World that displayed death-defying stunts. From here, we headed to a thrilling ride at Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and got a birds-eye view of the place on the Canopy Flyer. Our last stop was at Far Far Away, where we watched a fun show named Donkey Live. But before stepping out, we strolled the streets of Hollywood one last time and explored the enchanting forests of Madagascar.

Timing: Wed to Sat & Public holidays – 12 pm to 7 pm | Sunday – 10 am to 6 pm | Closed on Mon and Tue Ticket: $67.48 (Adult)

We headed back to Singapore after spending almost an entire day running around exploring every nook and corner. Mom and I had an excellent time exploring Sentosa island and would love to come back someday for more adventures.

Sentosa is a man-made island in Singapore that is known for entertainment and recreational opportunities it offers. People come here to laze around on soft, sandy beaches and visit theme parks and aquariums with their loved ones. Beach parties in Sentosa are loved by people around the world. How to spend 1 day in Sentosa?

Start your day by visiting Universal Studios Singapore  as this theme park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore on Sentosa Island. It has more than 20 exciting rides and 7 themed zones with different types of shows and attractions. Your Sentosa itinerary for 1 day is incomplete without visiting this place that attracts millions of people every year. You can easily spend half a day here.

Spend your afternoon at Marine Life Park and explore one of the largest oceanariums in the world. It is home to S.E.A. Aquarium and the Adventure Cove Waterpark  that combines fun and education. The Bay Restaurant on the premises will pamper your taste buds with local seafood delicacies. When you are spending only 24 hours in Sentosa, visiting this place is a must. It is an ideal place for those who are looking for fun things to do with kids in Sentosa.

Consider spending an evening at one of the famous beaches in Sentosa and choose any place from Palawan Beach, Siloso Beach and Tanjong Beach. Palawan Beach is dotted with several bars and pubs where you can experience the nightlife in Sentosa whereas Siloso Beach is famous for offering water sports and other recreational activities. When you have only 1 day in Sentosa, it is not possible to explore all the beaches. You can go to Tanjong Beach if you are looking for a place that is less crowded.

If you have some free time on your hands, you can visit a couple of other places as well. Fort Siloso which is now turned into a military museum, and Sentosa Luge that has the tallest observation tower in Singapore - Tiger Sky Tower are preferred by tourists as well.

Our tips for Sentosa Island

  • Stroll to the end of Asia. A wander across the floating rope bridge at Siloso Beach offers more than just an Instagram-worthy photo. Reach the end of the bridge and you’ll be at the southernmost point of continental Asia.
  • Get prepped. The weather here can be unpredictable, so bring a waterproof jacket on your Sentosa Island trip just in case!
  • Beat the crowds. Bid goodbye to long queues and book your tour to Sentosa Island well in advance. Talking about Singapore’s top experiences, Universal Studios, and the S.E.A Aquarium are particularly popular, so snatch up some tickets early to avoid missing out.
  • Save extra bucks . The animal and bird encounters on Palawan Beach offer free shows and epic live entertainment each day from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. View the exotic birds and even handle a python if you dare. For cheaper entry to the island’s main attractions, book Afternoon Till Sunset At Sentosa Island to enjoy fewer crowds and skip-the-line entry.
