Nine Inch Nails Plot Long-Awaited Return to the Road

Nine Inch Nails will return to the road for the first time in four years with a string of headlining gigs scheduled for the spring and late summer

The band will kick things off with a quick three-show run: April 28 in Raleigh, North Carolina, April 30 in Atlanta and May 1 in Franklin, Tennessee (just outside of Nashville). A lengthier trek will begin with two shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado Sept. 2 and 3, and wrap Sept. 24 with a special hometown gig at the the Blossom Music Center in Cleveland that will also feature sets from Ministry and Nitzer Ebb.

Nine Inch Nails have enlisted the help of several artists to provide support during the rest of the trek. Boy Harsher will join for gigs in Raleigh, North Carolina and Franklin, Tennessee, while 100 Gecs will open at both shows in Philadelphia. Yves Tumor will then perform during a stretch of gigs, Sept. 2 through 15.

Tickets for Nine Inch Nails’ tour will go on sale Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. local time. A fan presale will start Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. local time. Full information is available on Nine Inch Nails’ website .

Nine Inch Nails were scheduled to tour in 2020 and 2021, but scrapped those gigs because of the pandemic. The group has stayed busy over the past couple years, releasing two albums in 2020, Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts , and teaming up with noise-rock group Health for a new song, “Isn’t Everyone,” last May. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .

Outside the band, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have kept characteristically busy with other projects as well, like producing Halsey’s most recent album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power . The duo also won their second Best Original Score Oscar in 2020 for their work on the Pixar movie Soul with Jon Batiste (they were nominated in the same category that year, too, for David Fincher’s Mank ).

It's Swifties' dreams come true: The Eras Tour isn't over.

After embarking on a global tour that included a Detroit stop in June , Taylor Swift will return for another round of North American Eras Tour stops in 2024 with opener Gracie Abrams. The first North American Eras Tour sold out shows across the country, thrilling fans with over three hours’ worth of Swift’s choreographed and glammed-out discography.

While this second round of her Eras Tour is skipping Michigan, two of the lucky multi-show cities in this next leg are only a few hours’ drive away from Michigan: Indianapolis and Toronto.

For any Swifties in Michigan ready to hit the road, here’s what to know.

When are the new Taylor Swift Eras Tour dates?

The Indianapolis dates are from Nov. 1-3, 2024 , playing at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indianapolis is about a 4.5-hour drive from Detroit and Grand Rapids.

The Toronto dates are from Nov. 14-16 and Nov. 21-23, 2024 , playing at Rogers Centre. Toronto is about a 4.5-hour drive through Canada from Detroit, and a 6-hour drive from Grand Rapids.

When do Taylor Swift tickets go on sale?

Between Aug. 3-5, Swifties have to register for Verified Fan Onsale with Ticketmaster . Registration closes at 5 p.m. Saturday and then on Tuesday fans will receive email confirmation whether they have access to Verified Fan Onsale or whether they have been waitlisted.

Those with Verified Fan Onsale access will be able to purchase tickets for the Indianapolis dates starting Aug. 11 and the Toronto dates starting Aug. 9. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ticket prices are currently unavailable.

What to know about attending Taylor Swift's Toronto show

While it might not be quite as simple to see Taylor Swift in Toronto, it’s far from impossible.

To enter Canada and re-enter the U.S., U.S. citizens and permanent residents need proof of citizenship and identity . This can be a valid U.S. passport, passport card or NEXUS card. A U.S. enhanced driver’s license can be used only along with documents that prove the individual’s identity and citizenship.

Children under the age of 16 only need an original, photocopied, or certified copy of their birth certificate to enter Canada and re-enter the U.S. If you’re traveling with a minor that you don’t have full legal custody for, the Canada Border Services Agency may require a letter of authorization from the minor’s parents or legal guardian.

According to Ticketmaster , tickets for shows in Canada will be stated in Canadian dollars. Once purchased, credit card companies will convert the CAD to USD based on the current currency exchange rate, sometimes incurring an additional international fee from the credit card company.

Met Opera in New York sold 72% of tickets this season, up from 66% and highest since pandemic

NEW YORK (AP) — The Metropolitan Opera sold 72% of its available tickets this season, up from 66% in 2022-23 and an increase from 61% from its first season following the pandemic.

Box office remained down from 75% in 2018-19 and a projected 76% for 2019-20 before the mid-March shutdown caused by the COVID pandemic, the company said Thursday.

“We’re on a good path in terms of our ticket sales and most impressive is the fact that the audience is remarkably younger,” Met general manager Peter Gelb said.

Factoring in discounted tickets, the Met took in 64% of its potential box-office revenue, an increase from 57% in 2022-23. Gelb said single-ticket buyers, who amount to 85% of the audience, averaged 44 years old and the subscription audience averaged 70.

The Met withdrew $40 million this season from its endowment and it currently has about $255 million, Gelb said, down from $309 million last July. The Met hired Boston Consulting Group to examine cost reduction, ticketing and fundraising enhancement.

“They and we estimate that over the next four seasons as a result of their findings and recommendations we will have a positive swing of between $30 and $40 million,” Gelb said. “There is no question that we are still climbing out of the hole of the pandemic, as are other opera companies.”

A revival of Julie Taymor’s 2004 production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” presented in an abridged English version during the holiday season, led the 18 productions with 87% of available tickets sold. The Met will offer 17 performances of “Flute” next season, an increase from 13.

“We have built a very large audience base for that, particularly of parents and grandparents bringing their kids because as a family show it’s been sort of the operatic response to `The Nutcracker,‘” Gelb said, a reference to New York City Ballet’s popular holiday presentation. “It fills the house with the audience of the future.”

Franco Zeffirelli’s 1987 staging of Puccini’s “Turandot” was second at 82%, followed by a new staging of Bizet’s “Carmen” by the British director Carrie Cracknell at 81%, the Met premiere of Anthony Davis’s “X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X” at 78% and revivals of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” (75%) and “La Bohème” (74%) and Verdi’s “Nabucco” (72%).

Among other new productions, Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” sold 71%, Daniel Catán’s “Florencia en el Amazonas” 68%, Jake Heggie’s “Dead Man Walking” 62% and John Adams’ “El Niño” 58%.

Revivals of Terence Blanchard’s “Fire Shut up in My Bones” sold 65% and of Kevin Puts’ “The Hours” sold 61%. A revival of Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” sold the lowest at 56%.

“I’m convinced that we are on the right path in terms of mixing the presentations between timeless classics and new works,” Gelb said. “It’s the only way the art form ultimately can advance, and we have to experiment. Not everything is going to be as successful as we would like.”

The Met said it had 84,934 new ticket buyers, up from 75,930 in 2022-23, and about 25% of those attended one of six contemporary operas — and approximately one in 10 of that group returned for another opera.

The Met released its tax form for the year ending last July 31, which showed music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin earned $1,307,583, a rise from $1,195,702 in the prior fiscal year, and Gelb earned $1,379,032, up from $1,094,327.

Revenue in the year ending last July 31 was $303.1 million, up from $281.6 million in 2022-23. Contributions and grants were relatively the same at $185.1 million.

"This is Me … Now The Tour" will find Jennifer Lopez spanning the country for a 30-plus date arena tour that kicks off June 26 in Orlando and visits cities including Miami, Dallas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and her hometown of New York.

The live outing is Lopez’s first in five years and comes in support of her new album, “ This is Me … Now ,” out Friday.

A ticket presale for the JLo Fan Club begins at 9 a.m. Feb. 20. Other presales through Verizon and Citi also arrive Tuesday at 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. Feb. 22.

The general ticket sale will start at 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at livenation.com.

Lopez is going all-in on her latest musical project, including an Amazon Prime musical movie , “This is Me … Now: A Love Story,” that lands Friday and a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of her album and film, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” arriving on Amazon Prime Feb. 27.

In a recent interview with USA TODAY , Lopez said that “This is Me … Now,” would possibly be her final album because the songs, including current single “Can’t Get Enough,” present all of her thoughts on love.

“This was going to be the quintessential thing I have been searching for and wanted to say about love … This (album) kind of closed the loop in a way,” Lopez said. “It captures this moment to really say the things I want to say about love, and that is that true love does exist and some things are forever.”
